Evaluation Q1
1. One of the most important things about making a thriller is to grab the
viewers’ attention. This is because the average viewer will usually
judge your thriller in the first scene. So if this is something that the
viewer does not find entertaining or exciting you will not be able make
a good impression. This is why we started out thriller with a chase
scene at the start. This can make questions arise like "Why is this guy
being chased?" or "What’s his story?". This will then make the viewer
want to stay and watch this because they want to find the answer to
their questions.
2. The next convention of a thriller is to not make the story line obvious.
This means if the storyline is obvious to the viewer they will figure it
out and there will be no twists. Unless the film has been made obvious
so they can show a good twist in the end. This relates to our film
because the viewer wouldn’t have an idea about why this random man
is being tortured and interrogated.
Sometimes it can be good to point out strengths and weaknesses of
the main character this is because then the audience will know when
the main character is going to be in trouble or when they are going to
be ok and survive. This can slightly be linked in with our film because
we have shown that our main character is slightly faster than the
chaser but in the end does get caught. This is so we know he is able to
outrun the enemy.
3. Sometimes it can be good to point out strengths and weaknesses of

One thing that is very important in a thriller is that you should always
try to teach your audience a lesson in the end. If you do not teach
them a good lesson then watching the film could be pointless and
seem like a waste of time. For example in the film "8-mile" we learn
that even if you are from a rough society where people do not treat
you right in racial terms you can still rise up and be better than the
rest.
4. Lastly another convention is keeping secrets in the film if you do
this and the secrets become revealed later in the film then it
could fit the missing pieces in the puzzle or in film terms fill the
plot holes.
The conventions that we used were. Grabbing the audience
attention this was presented mostly in the chase scene at the
very beginning. Having a tight storyline this was so it was not
obvious what was going to happen. Slightly using strengths and
weaknesses this was because we showed that one character
with slightly faster than the other.
5. These are a few of the films that we
based our film on. This is because I
felt there were some good scenes
that were similar to the ones that we
used. For example in the film "Lord of
War" it had a good interrogation.
Scene that was similar to ours except
ours was more forced and violent.
The same as taken we felt the chase
scenes in this were similar to ours
because there were certain things
that we were doing in our film as
they done in theirs.
6. Another interrogation scene we felt was similar to
ours is the matrix interrogation scene.
This is the scene where they have to save Morpheus from the agents.
We feel this is similar to ours because Morpheus is being forced to
admit things that are secrets between the groups. This relates to our
film because the agents want revenge on Morpheus and the enemy in
ours wants revenge on the main character.
7. I think in our thriller one thing that makes our maybe stand out more
is that we added a chase scene right in at the start. I think this makes
our thriller more mysterious and also starts with a fasted paced scene.
Also that our film is never clear in what is happening this makes our
film a lot more than just mysterious because things will slowly be
revealed over time except we didn't have long enough to put
everything we wanted.
