As we can see the highest score was

movies. From looking at my results,
the majority of teenagers watch
thriller movies weekly, which in my
eyes is quite often- meaning that
they enjoy watching them.

Denzel Washington gives a layered performance and the villain being a menacing
psychopath, is a stark contrast to the main antagonist, making for automatic tension with
the atmosphere.
-Fast and Furious has violence, fast cars, weapons and is always set in a famous city,
therefore makes it effective.
-Expendables is effect because it always has a twist in it as well a lot of action.

13. The questionnaire that I had produced was very informative as I know have a better understanding as to what to do for my
coursework. Firstly, majority of the participants that answered my questionnaire said that having music in a thriller trailer
makes it effect. As we are doing an opening sequence (2 minutes) I still think it would be effective to have music in the first
minute or so to engage the audience. As one of my open questions asked what type of music is most effective, I have
gathered that the music should be underlying, light and not too prominent.
Another one of my questions were “where would you expect a Thriller movie to be set?” The majority of the respondents
selected “The City” and was followed by “Forest/Deserted area”, by a large margin. Again, in one of the responses for my
open questions the participant stated that a Thriller movie being set in a big city makes it effective. This has helped me as I
have a more clear idea of where my opening sequence should be set.
My results have also told me that 20 people preferred the villain to be a male in a Thriller movie and 10 selected Female.
However, I need to take into account the fact t that the overpowering gender that answered my questionnaire were males, so
the views would be different. However, this has helped me as I have found out what the majority of teenagers (16-17) prefer a
villain to be (Male)
When it comes to filing my opening sequence, there are many factors I need to take into consideration. From my
questionnaire I can gather that setting and music is very effective. It is most likely that it shall be shot in the city as that is
what the majority of my audience said engages them. The scenes should not be very lengthy but instead face paced and
short so that the audience stay engaged. It is important that my opening sequence is effective and interesting because that is
the first thing the viewers will see. If they do not feel engaged within the first two minutes, it is most likely that they will not
want to watch the rest of the movie.
The main focus is the different camera angles that will be used, however the characters in the opening sequence are still
important. There should be a clear show of at least two contrasting characters to make it look interesting. As I have also found
out from my questionnaire, having a villain with a menacing personality and an antagonist with a clear contrasting personality,
adds to the effectiveness.
