Comentario [A1]: Remember that a
grammar structure can be one of the
teaching points but not the TOPIC of your
lessons.
Comentario [A2]: Learners will become
aware of how to tell events in the past…
As this aim is rather abstract, you should
describe what they will do. Thus, you may
turn such an aim just into “describe events
that took place in the past¨.
The same applies to the following aims. Be
more precise and concrete.
Comentario [A3]: Identify?
Comentario [A4]: How? By means of a
discussion?
Comentario [A5]: These are structures,
not language functions.

ROUTINE
Greet students affectively and comment something on the weather.
Transition comment: Great! Today I would like to show you a picture.
WARM- UP
Purpose: To engage them affectively in the topic of the lesson.
The teacher will show to the students the following picture:
The teacher will say that they are “Diaguitas” and that they used to live in province of Salta.
Transition comment: Ok let´s learn something else about them.
PRESENTATION
The teacher will send the link of the lesson by whatsapp and to the school as always and she will send a copy
to the text to the whatsapp group or by e mail.
The teacher will read the text to the students:
The Diaguita people are a group of South American indigenous people native to the
Chilean Norte Chico and the Argentine Northwest. Argentine Diaguitas lived in the
provinces of La Rioja and Catamarca and part of the provinces of Salta, San
Juan and Tucumán.The term Diaguita was first applied to people and archaeological
cultures by Ricardo E. Latcham in early 20th century.
Ancient Diaguitas were nota unified people; the language or dialects used by them hada
variation from valley to other valleys and they were politically fragmented into
several chiefdoms. Coastal and inland Chilean Diaguitas traded as evidenced by the
archaeological findings of mollusc shells in the upper course of Andean valleys.

The teacher will read the text to the students.
In order to help the students with the vocabulary the teacher is going to show them some pictures to help
them infer the meaning of the words they may have difficulty.
For example:
o When she reads mollusc shells she will show the following picture:
o Chiefdoms: A tribe that is ruled or commanded by a Chief. While the teacher says this she will show
them the following pictures:
Now the teacher will point at the verbs was and were in the text and she will remember them that last class
they learnt that we use the past simple for things that were true in the past.
Now the teacher will point at the regular verbs in the text and she will explain that most verbs add ed
Next, the teacher will show them the following paper
Affirmative: They lived in the North of Salta
Negative: He did not (didn´t) speakEnglish
Interrogative: Did you usea variation of dialects? Yes, you did/ No, you didn´t
The teacher willread the sentences; in the affirmative form and she will point and highlight the ed in the verb.
In the negative form she will explain that we use an auxiliary verb (did) and she will also put emphasis on the
verb without ed. The teacher will do the same with the interrogative form.
Transition comment: Ok now you have to answer some questions to see if you understand (the teacher send
them in a word document pasted below)
Comentario [A6]: If you adhere to a
communicative approach, this language
analysis should come after dealing with
reading comprehension…
First meaning, then form.
PRACTICE
The teacher will explain to them that she send some questions for them to answer
For example: I watch a film last night. Is it correct?... No, it isn´t … why? Because we have to add ed to the
verb. So the correct sentence is I watched a film last night.
Questions:
- What do we add to most verbs in the past simple?
- I walked to school (Can you make this negative?)
- I didn´t walk to school (Can you make it into a question?)
- I finish my homework yesterday (Is it correct? Why?)
- They didn´t watched a series (Is it correct? Why?)
- She studied for her final exam (Is it correct? Why?)
Transition comment: great! After you think, reflect and answer the questions I will send you, we are going to
work on something new and different to you!
PRODUCTION
The teacher will explain now that they are going to create a padlet together about Diaguitas:
https://padlet.com/milagrosaromando/qhjorjef4qe2mjc0
“Don´t worry I´m sending you a link with a tutorial in which I explain you how to use padlet”:
https://www.loom.com/share/b34eb3017c394f079094e4d0e90a761e
“What you have to do is to search some information about the Diaguitas ´culture, something interesting for
you, something about the music, the language, the food, the tools, whatever you want and you have to write
that information in the padlet you can also add images, pictures, videos and music. But remember that you
have to use Simple past”
Transition comment:Ok my dear students, that´s all for this week!
CLOSURE
“I will be waiting your works on the book and your contributions on the padlet!” Have a nice week!! Goodbye!
Comentario [A7]: Connection with the
Diaguitas text?
Comentario [A8]: Will send? Has sent?
Comentario [A9]: You are moving away
from the context!
Can you create some examples based on
the Diaguitas?
Código de campo cambiado
Comentario [A10]: Nice video!
Comentario [A11]: You may ask more
specific questions, such as What did they
eat? Where did they live? What tools did
they use? What clothes did they wear? This
way, you can further expose learners to the
target structure.
 Word document to be sent to the students together with the link of the lesson:
SECOND WEEK
 All the lessons are recorded to be sent to the students
Hello my dear students! I want to tell you that I am really happy with our padlet!
Well, this week we will continue working with past simple.events
Open your book aton page 64.
Exercise 4: You have to re-read the text we read two weeks ago and write the past simple form of those verbs
Exercise 5 - A: Now you are going to complete the rules! Pay special attention to the verbs in the previous
exercise to complete them.
In exercise B you are asked to form the negative and the questions forms, remember that you need to use the
auxiliary verb DID.
Now you are going to work with exercise 6, page 65. You have to complete the text with the correct form of
the verbs in brackets.
Next week, I will send you the audio so you can listen to the text and check your answers.
Well, that´s all for this week, I will be waiting for your work. You know you can send me a message or have a
call in case you need help or have any doubt! Bye bye!
THIRD WEEK
 All the lessons are recorded to be sent to the students
Hi everyone! Well this week we are going to deal with time expressions. You have already knownalready
knowthat time expressions are essential to determine the correct tense. So now we are going to learn some
time expressions related to the simple past.
The teacher will show to the students the following images and she will explain to the pupils that we can use
lastwith week, summer, January, etc. For example: I travelled to Rosario last January. The teacher will do the
same with ago and then, with the chart of in – at – on.
Comentario [A12]: You can start telling
them about something you did YESTERDAY
and something you did LAST MONTH. You
can display those sentences on the screen,
so as to focus on the time expressions later
on.
The teacher will send the images in a word document too.
Great! Now you will work with your books. Page 65, exercise 7.
Now, we are going to finish this lesson having a little fun.
You have to click in the link I will send you and play snow man!
Remember to have in mind that we are working with simple past and the vocabulary we have learnt!
https://www.flippity.net/hm.php?k=1E3GBeqZbPiZFFUz4eGzKrOUnXB3T9JZ
KbHaXkw1LbS4
Please send me a picture while you are playing or a video!
See you next week!
FORTH WEEK
 All the lessons are recorded to be sent to the students
Hi my dear students! Did you have fun playing snowman? I hope so!
Well this week we are going to finish working with unit 7. I would like to ask you to work in pairs by using
whatsapp. We are going to work with page 66.
In exercise number one you have to put those images in the correct order. The idea is that you discuss and give
your point of view. The story is about Elena and her father´s trip to Oxfords.
In exercise 2 you have to read the email and there you can check exercise 1
In exercise 3 –A -you have to write if those sentences are true or false.
In exercise B you are going to analyze the e-mail again to answer these questions.
You have to send me screenshots of your talks while doing the homework and also if you have some audios.
Comentario [A13]: Good!
Comentario [A14]: You may encourage
learners to use those words in meaningful
sentences about them, so as to foster
communication. Otherwise, they are only
working at word level, and next week you
want them to discuss an activity.
Comentario [A15]: They focus on text
format.
Comentario [A16]: So they may either
write or talk.
Have they ever done something similar?
Well I hope you enjoy this time working together! I will be waiting your works! See you next week!

Observations
After analyzing the whole didactic unit, I´verealized that the topic would be PAST
EVENTS. There is no clear thread, no context developed throughout the entire unit.
This is something we may work on the following unit.
WEEK 1: I´ve made several comments. I think that reflecting on the Diaguitas is a
great choice. Make sure you focus on MEANING. You need to make some changes to
that first week, organizing activities in a more appropriate way, providing examples
related to the topic of that lesson.
WEEK 2: How can we connect Diaguitas with decades? You may start this lesson
referring back to the Diaguitas, displaying the padlet they have created, and
mentioning something about their period. You may even compare how they lived
and how we live nowadays, and then move on to the activities in the book, which are
closer to our lifestyles.
WEEK 3: I suggested providing some examples of your own from the onset. You can
also refer to the Diaguitas. For instance, “the Diaguitas participated in the the attack
of Santiago in 1541” – there you have an example of IN + YEAR.
WEEK 4: Students are asked to go through the pre-writing stage in pairs, reading an
e-mail and doing some activities. Will you ask them to write an e-mail later on? What
about describing a visit to a nearby town, referring to what they learnt about the
Diaguitas culture?
Mili, you don´t have to resubmit. Just work on these aspects when preparing your
videos and documents to share with your students. I hope you find my comments
and suggestions useful! Have a great time! 
I´ll be waiting for the video of WEEK 1 (plus the VIDEO ASSESSMENT SHEET).

  • 1. PrácticaDocente III 2020 ENTREGA DE PLANIFICACIÓN ALUMNO PRACTICANTE: Milagros Aromando Año: 2nd year Nivel lingüístico del curso: pre-intermediate Cantidad de alumnos: 13 students of 14/16 years old Tipo de Planificación: Clase Unidad Temática: Intercultural reflection and Simple past. Semana Nº: 1 (To be sent to the students on September 7th )  All my lessons would be recorded to be uploaded to you tube to be sent to the students Learning Aims: During this lesson learners will be able to…. - Raise awareness on how Past Simple is used to tell events and things that happened in the past and finish. - Raise awareness on how past simple is formed. - Become aware of the time expressions for simple past. - Become more aware of our own cultural viewpoints. - Practise writing skills by answering some questions. - Expand their learning skills through the use of ICT (Padlet and a game designed in flippity) Language focus LEXIS FUNCTIONS STRUCTURE R E V Vocabulary related to culture in general. To talk about an event that happened in the past Ancient Diaguitas were not a unified people N E W mollusc shells, chief , traded, chiefdom Simple past: regular verbs / auxiliary DID Time expressions Diaguitas lived in the Did the Diaguitas live..? No, they didn´t Two years ago Comentario [A1]: Remember that a grammar structure can be one of the teaching points but not the TOPIC of your lessons. Comentario [A2]: Learners will become aware of how to tell events in the past… As this aim is rather abstract, you should describe what they will do. Thus, you may turn such an aim just into “describe events that took place in the past¨. The same applies to the following aims. Be more precise and concrete. Comentario [A3]: Identify? Comentario [A4]: How? By means of a discussion? Comentario [A5]: These are structures, not language functions.
  • 2. MATERIALS: - Pictures - Text - Padlet - Cd - Book ROUTINE Greet students affectively and comment something on the weather. Transition comment: Great! Today I would like to show you a picture. WARM- UP Purpose: To engage them affectively in the topic of the lesson. The teacher will show to the students the following picture: The teacher will say that they are “Diaguitas” and that they used to live in province of Salta. Transition comment: Ok let´s learn something else about them. PRESENTATION The teacher will send the link of the lesson by whatsapp and to the school as always and she will send a copy to the text to the whatsapp group or by e mail. The teacher will read the text to the students: The Diaguita people are a group of South American indigenous people native to the Chilean Norte Chico and the Argentine Northwest. Argentine Diaguitas lived in the provinces of La Rioja and Catamarca and part of the provinces of Salta, San Juan and Tucumán.The term Diaguita was first applied to people and archaeological cultures by Ricardo E. Latcham in early 20th century. Ancient Diaguitas were nota unified people; the language or dialects used by them hada variation from valley to other valleys and they were politically fragmented into several chiefdoms. Coastal and inland Chilean Diaguitas traded as evidenced by the archaeological findings of mollusc shells in the upper course of Andean valleys. • 3. The teacher will read the text to the students. In order to help the students with the vocabulary the teacher is going to show them some pictures to help them infer the meaning of the words they may have difficulty. For example: o When she reads mollusc shells she will show the following picture: o Chiefdoms: A tribe that is ruled or commanded by a Chief. While the teacher says this she will show them the following pictures: Now the teacher will point at the verbs was and were in the text and she will remember them that last class they learnt that we use the past simple for things that were true in the past. Now the teacher will point at the regular verbs in the text and she will explain that most verbs add ed Next, the teacher will show them the following paper Affirmative: They lived in the North of Salta Negative: He did not (didn´t) speakEnglish Interrogative: Did you usea variation of dialects? Yes, you did/ No, you didn´t The teacher willread the sentences; in the affirmative form and she will point and highlight the ed in the verb. In the negative form she will explain that we use an auxiliary verb (did) and she will also put emphasis on the verb without ed. The teacher will do the same with the interrogative form. Transition comment: Ok now you have to answer some questions to see if you understand (the teacher send them in a word document pasted below) Comentario [A6]: If you adhere to a communicative approach, this language analysis should come after dealing with reading comprehension… First meaning, then form.
  • 4. PRACTICE The teacher will explain to them that she send some questions for them to answer For example: I watch a film last night. Is it correct?... No, it isn´t … why? Because we have to add ed to the verb. So the correct sentence is I watched a film last night. Questions: - What do we add to most verbs in the past simple? - I walked to school (Can you make this negative?) - I didn´t walk to school (Can you make it into a question?) - I finish my homework yesterday (Is it correct? Why?) - They didn´t watched a series (Is it correct? Why?) - She studied for her final exam (Is it correct? Why?) Transition comment: great! After you think, reflect and answer the questions I will send you, we are going to work on something new and different to you! PRODUCTION The teacher will explain now that they are going to create a padlet together about Diaguitas: https://padlet.com/milagrosaromando/qhjorjef4qe2mjc0 “Don´t worry I´m sending you a link with a tutorial in which I explain you how to use padlet”: https://www.loom.com/share/b34eb3017c394f079094e4d0e90a761e “What you have to do is to search some information about the Diaguitas ´culture, something interesting for you, something about the music, the language, the food, the tools, whatever you want and you have to write that information in the padlet you can also add images, pictures, videos and music. But remember that you have to use Simple past” Transition comment:Ok my dear students, that´s all for this week! CLOSURE “I will be waiting your works on the book and your contributions on the padlet!” Have a nice week!! Goodbye! Comentario [A7]: Connection with the Diaguitas text? Comentario [A8]: Will send? Has sent? Comentario [A9]: You are moving away from the context! Can you create some examples based on the Diaguitas? Código de campo cambiado Comentario [A10]: Nice video! Comentario [A11]: You may ask more specific questions, such as What did they eat? Where did they live? What tools did they use? What clothes did they wear? This way, you can further expose learners to the target structure.
  • 5.  Word document to be sent to the students together with the link of the lesson:
  • 6. SECOND WEEK  All the lessons are recorded to be sent to the students Hello my dear students! I want to tell you that I am really happy with our padlet! Well, this week we will continue working with past simple.events Open your book aton page 64. Exercise 4: You have to re-read the text we read two weeks ago and write the past simple form of those verbs Exercise 5 - A: Now you are going to complete the rules! Pay special attention to the verbs in the previous exercise to complete them. In exercise B you are asked to form the negative and the questions forms, remember that you need to use the auxiliary verb DID.
  • 7. Now you are going to work with exercise 6, page 65. You have to complete the text with the correct form of the verbs in brackets. Next week, I will send you the audio so you can listen to the text and check your answers. Well, that´s all for this week, I will be waiting for your work. You know you can send me a message or have a call in case you need help or have any doubt! Bye bye! THIRD WEEK  All the lessons are recorded to be sent to the students Hi everyone! Well this week we are going to deal with time expressions. You have already knownalready knowthat time expressions are essential to determine the correct tense. So now we are going to learn some time expressions related to the simple past. The teacher will show to the students the following images and she will explain to the pupils that we can use lastwith week, summer, January, etc. For example: I travelled to Rosario last January. The teacher will do the same with ago and then, with the chart of in – at – on. Comentario [A12]: You can start telling them about something you did YESTERDAY and something you did LAST MONTH. You can display those sentences on the screen, so as to focus on the time expressions later on.
  • 8. The teacher will send the images in a word document too. Great! Now you will work with your books. Page 65, exercise 7. Now, we are going to finish this lesson having a little fun. You have to click in the link I will send you and play snow man! Remember to have in mind that we are working with simple past and the vocabulary we have learnt! https://www.flippity.net/hm.php?k=1E3GBeqZbPiZFFUz4eGzKrOUnXB3T9JZ KbHaXkw1LbS4 Please send me a picture while you are playing or a video! See you next week! FORTH WEEK  All the lessons are recorded to be sent to the students Hi my dear students! Did you have fun playing snowman? I hope so! Well this week we are going to finish working with unit 7. I would like to ask you to work in pairs by using whatsapp. We are going to work with page 66. In exercise number one you have to put those images in the correct order. The idea is that you discuss and give your point of view. The story is about Elena and her father´s trip to Oxfords. In exercise 2 you have to read the email and there you can check exercise 1 In exercise 3 –A -you have to write if those sentences are true or false. In exercise B you are going to analyze the e-mail again to answer these questions. You have to send me screenshots of your talks while doing the homework and also if you have some audios. Comentario [A13]: Good! Comentario [A14]: You may encourage learners to use those words in meaningful sentences about them, so as to foster communication. Otherwise, they are only working at word level, and next week you want them to discuss an activity. Comentario [A15]: They focus on text format. Comentario [A16]: So they may either write or talk. Have they ever done something similar?
  • 9. Well I hope you enjoy this time working together! I will be waiting your works! See you next week!
  • 10. Lesson plan component Excellent 5 Very Good 4 Good 3 Acceptable 2 Needs improvement 1 Visual organization x Coherence and sequencing x Variety of resources x Stages and activities x Scaffolding strategies x Language accuracy x Observations After analyzing the whole didactic unit, I´verealized that the topic would be PAST EVENTS. There is no clear thread, no context developed throughout the entire unit. This is something we may work on the following unit. WEEK 1: I´ve made several comments. I think that reflecting on the Diaguitas is a great choice. Make sure you focus on MEANING. You need to make some changes to that first week, organizing activities in a more appropriate way, providing examples related to the topic of that lesson. WEEK 2: How can we connect Diaguitas with decades? You may start this lesson referring back to the Diaguitas, displaying the padlet they have created, and mentioning something about their period. You may even compare how they lived and how we live nowadays, and then move on to the activities in the book, which are closer to our lifestyles. WEEK 3: I suggested providing some examples of your own from the onset. You can also refer to the Diaguitas. For instance, “the Diaguitas participated in the the attack of Santiago in 1541” – there you have an example of IN + YEAR. WEEK 4: Students are asked to go through the pre-writing stage in pairs, reading an e-mail and doing some activities. Will you ask them to write an e-mail later on? What about describing a visit to a nearby town, referring to what they learnt about the Diaguitas culture? Mili, you don´t have to resubmit. Just work on these aspects when preparing your videos and documents to share with your students. I hope you find my comments
  • 11. and suggestions useful! Have a great time!  I´ll be waiting for the video of WEEK 1 (plus the VIDEO ASSESSMENT SHEET).
