Then, my excitement incited something that would be my demise. Instead of simply presenting the perfectly lovely piece of costume jewelry, my

In life we have who we are on the inside, and who we portray to be. This portrayal of who we are is called impression management. As stated on
WiseGeek.com, "Impression management is the way people influence how others think about something else, usually themselves. People usually do
this either to get something they want from others or to establish an independent identity." This tells us that what we say and do effects the way
aspects in society are viewed. The way I view myself, and the way others view me may not go hand in hand, or they can be the same. We try to
make ourselves be viewed a certain way through our actions and the things we say. To view the difference between how I view myself and how others
view me, I asked 3 different people their opinions of myself.
Personally, I am a hardworking and dedicated person who fully commits to a task. When it comes to school, teaching, and relationships I put in
110 percent in order to be the best I can be. As an outgoing individual, I enjoy speaking to others to learn from other people's lives. My life has not
been easy, even though others may think it has been a breeze. I have many health problems, all invisible, that continue to affect my everyday life.

Shortly after the submission of my application, I received an email inviting me to the interview that would be conducted in company's office in
London. Overall, in my opinion, I did my best in terms of the preparation. I researched the company's history, read about its most popular products and
familiarized myself with the recent industry and company's news (Burke and Thurgood 2007). A week prior to theinterview date I attended an
interview preparation session organized by the Careers Office which, as noted by Spears (1979), was supposed to help me feel more comfortable
during the actual interview. As a result, I had, what Bandura (1982) would call a high level of self–efficacy, meaning that I hold an opinion that I
would succeed in an interview.
Turning attention to the actual interview, it was conducted face–to–face on company's premises and my interviewer was a middle–aged white woman.
From the first seconds of the interview she had an open body language and she maintained a good eye contact. Armstrong (2012) indicates that such
behaviour helps to establish the good rapport with the applicant and it was certainly true in my case. It was a structured employment interview as I
was asked a set of prepared questions (Levashina et al. 2014) that explored if I possessed skills and competencies required for the job position. As the
interviewer followed the script, it led to the consistency in information received, implying more accurate selection decision (Garcia et al. 2008).

Different Forms Of Impression Management
I analyzed Facebook postings from a person B, who is my friend. I found the following theme on her Facebook which there were three pictures of
the person B with her boyfriend, one when they were hugging each other and facing to the beach. The other two when they were eating in the
restaurants. There were also a lot of pictures of food the person was eating, the place she was hanging out with her family and friends. I also found
two images when she stayed at home. Besides that, there were four selfie photos when she was getting ready to go out. She called that were the

The process of adjusting the self to new environments is described by Goffman as "impression management" (1959, p.70). People in their everyday
lives manage settings, clothing, words, and nonverbal actions to "convey an impression to others" (1959, p.2) like actors on the stage. They strive to

The Presentation of Self In Everyday Life is a work developed by noted sociologist Erving Goffman. In it, Goffman details the sociological perspective
