The document discusses the concepts of faith in Christ, obedience to Jesus, and dedication to following Him, even in the face of persecution. It notes that Jesus explained the life, love, and dedication of believers in John 15, with obedience being the core theme. The document states that too many American believers have reduced their dedication to avoid social consequences, but that all believers can reset their priorities to abiding in Jesus, loving like Him, and being completely dedicated to Him.

Faith in Christ revealed through John's Gospel
1. Faith in Christ Jesus:
2 Timothy 1:12 defines FAITH as knowing the
trustworthy character and motives of Jesus, and being
confident in His limitless promise-keeping ability, and
consequently committing yourself entirely to His keeping.
We are studying the Gospel of John, answering these
questions: 1) What is revealed of Jesus’ character, motives,
and abilities? 2) What is indicated that you could confidently
commit to Jesus’?
Life, Love, Dedication!
John 15:18-27
Jesus explains the life (1-8), love (9-17), and
dedication (18-27) of believers in John chapter 15.
Obedience, however, is the core theme which binds those
three together. Some form of persecution, ridicule, and
rejection MUST follow people who follow Jesus. Too many
believers in America have reduced their dedication to Jesus
to avoid social consequences.
1 John 2:15-16 (read it now) shows what The World
loves. Gospel o f John 15:19 explains why The World hates
dedicated followers of Jesus. You do not belong to the world
anymore. You belong to Jesus. The only two ways the
conflict can be ended is (1) if everyone belongs to the world,
or (2) if everyone belongs to Jesus! Think about that!
However, too many believers in America have reduced their
dedication to Jesus to avoid social consequences.
John 15:22-24 explains that the world hates Jesus
because of what He said and what He did! His words brought
conviction of sin. His works proved His authority to reveal
(as Light) sin, and His authority to redeem (as Lamb) us from
sin. IF we love to live consciously near Jesus, love what
Jesus loves, love to please Jesus rather than ourselves,
THEN we will have experiences similar to His own! John
15:20 “…If they have persecuted me, they will also
persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep
yours also.” However, too many believers in America have
reduced their dedication to Jesus to avoid social
consequences.
1 Peter 4:12-19. (Read it now!) If we are to be
hated, let it be “without cause” as in John 15:25. I am
grateful that Jesus does more than merely explain why we
are persecuted (verses 18-24), He sends us the Comforter
(verse 26). He does all the “heavy lifting”! Think about that!
Even though it is true that too many believers in
America have reduced their dedication to Jesus in order to
avoid social consequences, every believer can immediately
reset his or her top priorities to Abiding In Jesus, Loving Like
Jesus Loves, and being Completely Dedicated to Jesus!
Think about that!
