A “tourist approach” looks at multiculturalism as a visitor does when traveling to another country-by focusing on the folklore, the exotic, and the historical aspects. Examine your curriculum, another teacher’s curriculum, or curriculum found online and determine whether you are following a tourist-like approach.
The paper must be 2 single spaced pages and address the following:
· Explain how the curriculum connects cultural activities to individual children, their families, and concrete, daily life. Provide specific examples from the curriculum.
· Appraise how the hands-on cultural experiences relate to a young child’s interests. Provide specific examples from the curriculum.
· Critique how the curriculum explores similarities among people. Provide specific examples from the curriculum.
