My Fear Of Whites
WHITEY !!!!!Race was always a problem growing as a child, and the things you hear whites saying was really mean. Also, the name calling was
very old to us as well blacks because they would yell a lot of unnecessary things such as all black eat and drink watermelon, grape soda, and eat
chicken, but that wasn't the case. No matter whatever whites said about us because we assumed the same thing about whites. Justly, I thought that
whites where scared of every black person; for example, when I visit Wal–Mart and I decided to go down some different ales where whites were
always would leave the ale that I was in, and they would go into the other ale, in addition they would wait into I leave to come back into the ale.
Nevertheless, most of the time whites are very scared of us, but honestly blacks are scared of whites too.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being black I don't know if they happy one minute or mad the next, but must of whites love to have fun with blacks as friends as well. All my whites
friends love to hang out with me when we go out places such as, clubs, house party, and bars. Fairly I think we have a lot in common with hanging out
and having fun because I love going out to white fiction as well

Bullying At Work Is A Mental Or Physical Menace
INTRODUCTION
Bullying at work is a mental or physical menace caused by a man or group of individuals at work environment (g). It can happen in any sort of work
environment and the individual or gathering need not be supervisors or managers, it can originate from collaborators as well.
At work, bullying is viewed as rehashed behavior, where it creates a risk to one's well–being and security. It develops when one or a few people
industriously over a time–frame see themselves to be forced to bear contrary activities from one or a set of individuals, in a circumstance where the
one at the less than desirable end experiences issues in protecting him/herself against these activities (pdf 7). The term 'bullying' is most widely used
in UK and Australia whereas in Germany, Scandinavia it is termed as 'mobbing' while in the US it is used as 'workplace harassment' (pdf 5).
Bullying at work is across the board and is by all accounts spreading like a pandemic, whereas in the past, individuals could sensibly hope to
experience their working lives without meeting a genuine tormenting occurrence, now anybody can be in danger of being seriously harassed, maybe a
few times in their profession (pdf 1).
Bullying drives away man 's self–assurance. It undermines fearlessness, it prompts restlessness, to numerous excursions to the surgery for stress and
anxiety related conditions, agitation and most especially to misery (pdf 2). Bullying can be of various types such as social bullying, verbal

Sick Leave Case
1) Work related injury classification in the medical certificate serves to determine the compensation during the sick leave and BZR payment and does
not necessarily implies that the employer is responsible for the work injury, hence you are not directly required to make any payment pertaining to the
medical certificate classification. 2) We understand that it is likely that the employee has a pre–existing medical diagnosis and a specific medical
condition which was not communicated to you before. Therefore, it is questionable if his injury is the consequence of work injury or only the
manifestation of his existing condition. 3) It is questionable if any other person within the same circumstances would experience any injury or the

Bullying In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding's Lord of the Flies, the people reading this book witness acts of bullying. Piggy got called piggy because he didn't say his real
name and everybody started calling him that and putting him down. People need to stand up for themselves sometimes and need to look out for each
other when someone is having trouble or being bullied. Bullying is a kid feeds of another's pain when they put them down by words and they way they
treat them. It means to bully by them teasing and making them feel bad and should not be around them. Bullying looks like there is an everyday
routine and people don't know when it happens until the last minute. Bullying has gotten so out of hand and nothing has been done and it's exactly like
they say it is. People need to go together with the parents and teachers to help, but sometimes parents don't notice it at ... Show more content on

Suspicions– we've all had them. We have them about almost everyone and everything, but what happens when people take them too far? What
happens when people start jumping to conclusions? People do these little things everyday. Sometimes, though, it can go to extremes. Recently, my
class read a story and watched a few tv show episodes. Both shows dealt with suspicions and conclusion jumping. These shows have some defining
similarities that make them comparable. One of these similarites is setting. Both of these places take place in a small area where everyone knows
everybody. Another one of these similarites is plot. Both of these stories have a plot with similarities when it comes to how people view others. These

The And Benefits Of A Behavioral Strategy
1. When comparing two behavioral types – in simple terms – what determines the relative costs and benefits of a behavioral strategy (when compared
to another option)? The environment determines the relative costs and benefits of a behavioral strategy.
2. Can the costs and benefits of strategies change over time? Answer YES or NO, and then – in simple terms – using no more than 1 sentence – explain
why or why not. Yes, the costs and benefits of strategies can change over time, because the environment can change over time.
Using optimality and game theory = can earn up to 4 points

Include how changes in the environment might shift the decision. How your voice compares to other callers, the number of satellites that already
exist per caller, and the number of predators around would all influence Harry's decision to become a satellite or caller. If an environmental shift were
to occur in which the majority of frogs were small and unable to call, it would be beneficial for Harry to become a caller, as a medium–sized frog,
because someone has to call in order to attract the females. If a different shift in environment occurred in which all frogs were large and chose to
call, it would be beneficial for Harry to become a satellite, because there would be very few other satellites with which Harry would have to compete
for females with.
6D. Which of these factors do not involve assessing what other frogs are actually doing? Of the above factors, Harry's voice does not involve
assessing what other frogs are actually doing, because Harry knows his relative size, and therefore his calling ability.

Summary In Paul Feine's essay "McBastards: McDonald's and globalization", he addresses the negative views that many foreign cultures have
about McDonald's. He divides the essay into four sections. By breaking down the essay, he clearly shows his audience the ways in which the world
views McDonald's. He discussed the idea of cultural imperialism and the negative effects on foreign cultures, but shows the reader that these views
may not be accurate. He ended his essay with a paragraph focusing on how McDonald's brings people together. In the first section, Feine talks about
his experience at a McDonald's with his two year old son while being in Paris. He writes about the tension he had felt while he was at a more expensive

Case Study Of Mobbing
Case Study 1: M.Ali – "I quitted my job at the hotel, where I worked for 7 years, because of mobbing. I have been feared to loose my job and I had
to bear everything. However, sometimes the mobber is too close to the boss. And even the other managers, who need to protect you (this can even be
the human resources manager), do not want to get involved. When I am contemplating all of these, I conclude that the boss likes it this way. The only
thing I understand from this, the person who exposed mobbing to me wastes 10–15 people every year since he is in the senior position and place his
men around him. This guy has no quality whatsoever, he doesn't increase the sales or provide training. He never supports you but he holds his position."

The senior management involved in mobbing process, hence, Hande's motivation declined and she was fired by using low performance as the excuse.
The mobbing that Hande was exposed to is hierarchical, in other words, vertical mobbing. In this vertical mobbing, the mobber and mobbers used
many methods. They attacked her professional capability by giving too much work or not giving any work. They excluded her by not talking to her,
humiliated her or communicated maliciously with her. Since mid–level manager were involved in the mobbing, we can assert that it was a type of
"mass mobbing". It is contemplated that the mobbers have narcissistic personality traits. These persons felt uncomfortable by the presence of a
successful subordinate and they strive to intimidate her. In fact, they are using the low performance as an excuse since Hande's performance was
decreased because of mobbing. When we contemplate the personal characteristics of Hande, we find out that she is neither submissive nor silent when
encountered an injustice. However, Hande thinks that she could not defend sufficiently her rights since she was lacking experience. We think that
Hande is at the stage of obsession in thoughts, which is the second stage of mobbing effects. The greatest impact on this process is that the stress that
Hande has suffered and the fact that she could not forget what she experienced and she has regrets because of inexperience. Unfortunately, she found
out about her legal rights too late that she could not overcome the mobbing. Hande thinks it was due to the loss of motivation and lack of

A Novice Manager’s Tale of Woe
A Novice Manager's Tale of Woe Synopsis: The case study starts off by introducing Tricia Monet and how she was hired by the company Personal
Reflections as an assistant manager for the Sioux City Store. Tricia was a middle child that had come from a family that was very close. (Note: this
probably led/taught her to want to get along with those around her) Tricia had received a bachelor's degree in accounting and her only real work
experience had come from an accounting firm job that she worked for less than one year. The organization had a very structured hiring and training
program, however the company lacked any formal ongoing/follow–up training program. Personal Reflection hiring practices included not allowing the

breaking the chain of leadership by contacting the district manager without consulting her first. The district manager should make very clear of the
expectations (norms) of the employee's loyalty and dedication toward the store manager and also explain clearly the expectations of the store manager's
loyalty and dedication to the employees. For example, Employees should consult the store manager prior to changing the part–time employees work
schedule. In return the store manager should ensure that each assistant manager should be provided fair and consistent evaluations on their
performance. * As the district manager, she should inform all employees that they are to report directly to Tricia in all matters concerning store
operation. The district manager should also inform the employees of the formal process for reporting problems/concerns. If the organization has no
such policy, then the district manager could introduce a policy that explains what time of complaints can be lodged (harassment, discrimination, theft,
and violence) and how they should be reported (hotline, drop box, or open door policy). (Spiro, 2010) When discussing a long term solution, I
recommend solutions that involve creating a formal training plan within the organization specifically for managers. This plan should

The Internet : The Use Of The Internet
What is the internet? According to Webster's Dictionary the internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information and
communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols. The internet is a great and useful tool
that nearly all Americans use every single day, probably more than ten times a day. Theinternet is not always used as a useful tool however. The
internet has been used for evil and wrong doings over the years. The internet has been used for things like catfishing, cyberbullying, and loss of privacy.
The first problem that I will be addressing is catfishing. Catfishing is the act of luring (someone) into a relationship by means of a fictional online
persona, according to Webster's Dictionary. The internet allows people to make social profiles that someone could make to pose as someone they
are not to possibly murder, rape or even kidnap. According to the thought catalog "Buffalo Bills linebacker IK Enemkpali was approached by a
"woman" on Facebook named "Missy Lee" who claimed "she" was eager to perform oral sex on him. Enemkpali visited Missy Lee, only to find
"her" cowering under the bedsheets and refusing to reveal "her" face. He left but then came back, but then left again when Missy Lee still wouldn't
emerge from the bedsheets. Then during a video call minutes later, Missy Lee showed "her" face, revealing male facial hair. It turns out that Missy

Leadership Of Elephants : The Adaptive Value Of Age
From the above discussion, it can be seen that not only that the elder matriarchal leaders are vital to maintaining the equilibrium state inside the herd,
they too play an enormous role in determining the way in which the group will react to the outside influences, and that function also contributes to the
degree in which the group is dependent on these old ladies . One of the most direct way that this influence can be recognized is in the ability to
survive from dangerous predators. In " Leadership in elephants: the adaptive value of age" and "Matriarchs As Repositories of Social Knowledge in
African Elephants", conducted by Karen McComb and two different teams, an experiment is carried out, in which the different elephant families are ...

Since at more stable elephant herds, the most likely sole source of violence they have to worry about is the one from their natural predators, and the
presence of the older female matriarch is the key the safety of the whole herd from external violence, these ladies can be considered as the
peacekeepers of elephant society. However, there is more to the effect that female leaders have on the violent status of the group that keeps it far
away from being always nice and kind. In elephant society as well as that of spider and other animals, in accordance to "Animal Behaviour" by a
group of authors including Andreas P. Modlmeier, "the presence of a few mature females drastically increased a groups ' foraging aggressiveness"
(9). The appearance of the mature matriarch rapidly increases the number of members of the group who participate in hunting and also their
confidence, which results in more aggressive attitude and more bloody hunts. From this phenomenon, the older female leaders are considered to be
the "keystone individuals". The term is defined as individuals who " influence group dynamics and success in a diverse variety of animal societies"
(Modlmeier et al. 9). More interestingly, in "Leadership in elephants: the adaptive value of age", the presence of the mature elephant matriarchs also
increases the chance of "[approaching] to harass predators" (3271) or in other words, mobbing the lions who were initially

Bullying And What Affects It Has On A Person Being Bullied
My topic of research will be on bullying and what affects it has on a person being bullied. To start out, bullying is justified as using supreme strength or
influence to intimidate someone, usually to have another person do what you want them to do (Wikipedia, 2016).
The word bully was first used in the 1530s, and it's meaning then meant "sweetheart", it went on to be used as fine, fellow, bluster, and then to the
harasser of the weak (Bullying, 2016). A person who becomes a bully isn't born that way, it comes from a young age at when they were the ones getting
picked on. When children are young, they can get bullied by their families, neighbors, or other children at school. When this happens it causes certain
children to think this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are four stages of bullying abuse that can affect a person for their entire life. They are: 1) Emotional, 2) Verbal, 3) Physical, and 4) Cyber
(Bullying, 2016). With the effects of emotional abuse, the victim is left with no self worth, they start to believe everything the bully is saying is
true, and it leads them to depression. The verbal abuse from a bully can leave a person feeling small because of the rumors spread by the bully and
by the bully making fun of them to others. Physical abuse can lead to being hospitalized for being beaten up, will make you feel scared to be alone,
and it can also make you paranoid like everyone is out to get you. Lastly, with Cyber bullying, a bully can attack a person through social media, emails,
and texts.
With bullying, boys are highly to be attacked by a bully with physical abuse and girls are likely to be bullied indirectly. Statistics show that 15 to 25
children commit suicide. There have been many young people wo have committed suicide due to being bullied. These young peoples names are Ryan
Halligen, Phoebe Prince, Dawn Marie Wesley, Kelly Yeomans, Jessica Haffer, Hamel Natosh, April Himes, Cherice Moralez, and Rebecca Ann

Rationale And Significance Of Animal Selection Theory
Rationale and Significance
Since Darwin published his theory of evolution, cooperation in organisms from bacteria to humans has been a difficult dilemma in evolutionary theory.
Even Darwin did not fully understand how altruistic acts in organisms fit into the natural selection theory. Natural selection theory states that an
individual that has inherited a trait that gives them a better chance at surviving, will be naturally selected for. An explanation as to why a trait that
causes an individual to act in a way that is costly to it persists in groups has confounded scientists for centuries. Since then, scientists like Trivers and
Williams provide theories to explain altruistic acts that still satisfy the natural selection theory. Williams appealed to kinship to satisfy the behavior, and
Trivers appealed to reciprocal altruism where an altruistic act was conditionally reciprocated (Trivers 2006, Williams 1966). This study seeks to look at
the possibility of three of the main theories; by product mutualism, kin selection, or reciprocal altruism as explanations to cooperation in the Pied
flycatchers. The birds provide a rich study system in which they form breeding pairs, large amount of social interactions, and societies are composed of
both unrelated and related individuals. Although many studies look at these explanations separately, this study integrates all the different explanations
of cooperation into one experiment, keeping the species, environment, and individuals

relationship with the concept of bullying, which may be very detrimental to an organization, has not attracted significant attention. This study
contributes to the existing research by taking the effects of bullying behaviour into consideration. The aim of this study is to explore the effects of

Leymann (1996, p. 168) gave the operational definition of mobbing (bullying) as:
Psychological terror or mobbing in working life involves hostile and unethical communication, which is directed in a systematic way, by one or a few
individuals mainly towards one individual who, due to mobbing is pushed into a helpless or defenceless position, being held there by means of
continuing mobbing activities. These actions occur on a very frequent basis (statistical definition: at least once a week) and over a long period of
time (statistical definition: at least 6 months of duration).
Most of the studies related to the constructs explored in this study were completed in Western countries, reflecting Anglo/individualized cultural
values (Yousef, 2002). Due partly to this, differences in the range of variables and the mobility of literature across different cultures (Glazer and Beehr,
2005) still remains relatively unexplored. Bearing this in mind, we will examine whether ethics is related to employee attitudes and behaviour, and
investigate the factor structure of the Ethical Climate Questionnaire developed by Victor and Cullen (1988) within Turkish culture.

support, human rights, labor rights, social responsibility, social justice, cultural competence, community resilience, diplomacy, cooperation and human
adaptation(Ghahramanpouri, Lamit& Sedaghatnia, 2013). Social sustainability occurs when the formal and informal processes; systems; structures;

communities are equitable, diverse, connected and democratic and provide a good quality of life(Spangenberg, & Omann, 2006). Through my
experience as a target of psychological violence in the workplace and my academic support, it my belief that this life–threatening issue is a wicked
problem that can only be addressed through systems thinking. Wicked problems are defined as problems involving sets of interlocking issues and
constraints, complex, intractable, and open–ended(Conklin & Weil, 1997). In addressing this wicked problem, a systems thinking is the art and science
of making reliable inferences about behavior by developing an increasingly deep understanding of underlying structure(Senge, (1990). Systems thinking

##ployee Mistreatment : Clash Of Cultures And The...
Introduction Employee mistreatment is the inclination of a group or an individual to make use of unreasonable or aggressive behaviour in order to
achieve their goals. It is a recurring maltreatment of one employee targeted by one group or employee with malicious intimidation, humiliation and
sabotage of work performance (Bush, & Lipari). Workplace mistreatment is not similar to physical form of bully. It is operated within the established
policies and rules of a society or an organization. Employee mistreatment is also referred to mobbing. Although mobbing means any form of bully by
more than one individual, aggression or psychological terror. It can be hostile attitude at workplace, emotional violence or workplace trauma (Porter
and Brinke 508–514). Civility crises are the major reason for mistreatment of colleagues at workplace. Workplace is one the places where people
face incivility. A large number of people complain or witness frequent incivility while going to school, driving, participating in a political activity or
even walking on the sidewalk. These people face incivility in no use of thank you and please. Studies have been attributing the crisis of civility to
clash of cultures. People from various national backgrounds encounter more frequently each other in a global setting (Pearson & Porath 23) Similarly,
the clash of codes of conduct across different age groups leads to older people dismissing young generation as uncultured and rude louts who do not
have work ethics (Hershcovis 499–519) In this paper we will study in detail the workplace mistreatment and its various forms. We will also shed some
light on the significance of this problem and its leading consequences. We will also devise some solution to this problem. We will end this report with
concluding stances and recommendations for organizations to overcome this serious concern of these days. Discussion People are mistreated at work
in many ways and managers, professional groups, consultants and academics are concerned about the problem of mistreatment. This growing concern
has brought a well deserved attention to this problem. Based on extensive surveys in several occupational groups, it has been established that workplace

Bullying in the Workplace
Introduction Bullying in the workplace has always been an issue that has not been given much importance. It is indeed a problem that should be
addressed by the concerned personnel because it can result in many health and safety issues, especially when nurses are bullied at their workplace.
From the beginning of times, people who are deployed at a senior post to tend to look down upon the students or new people who have just started
work. Nursing is also one of the professions in which the fresh graduates or students are bullied to the extent that they feel that they would not be
able to face their seniors. They start developing inferiority complex and are unable to perform their job well. When they are taunted by their seniors
and preceptors about their lack of knowledge and experience, their confidence is shattered. This implies that when they are handling a case, they are
not confident if they are doing the right thing or not. In this tussle, they sometimes do not even perform the task they were really good at and put the
health and safety of the patient at stake. Many incidents of this sort have taken place in the past and take place every single day and it is an example of
just a single profession in which bullying is quite extensive and subtle at the same time. Therefore, the administration of the hospitals, and other
workplaces for that matter, should make sure that the trainees are not targeted by their seniors just because they have less experience than them. The

Graduation Speech: Honored Men Of The Assembly
Honored Men of the Assembly, As we gather here today, I urge you to focus on the insecurity of property rights in the current rebellion, and how
the lack of courts and impartial judges in New York city is an offense and it is our obligation to end it. Recent activity in our neighboring colonies,
has shown rebellion against the crown. Some have tried revolting against our motherland England, the same motherland that has nourished us for all
of these years. Some of my opponents have argued that a son must grow up and move away from his mother, but, while a son does need to grow up
and move away, he must respect his mother as she supports him. We need to sustain England's support to reinforce our resilient future. With that I say,
New York City must reopen its courts to protect our property rights, stop rebellion, protect innocent people from mobbing, and to keep New York
from reaching a state of Nature. The costly and disastrous attacks in the Boston harbor that forced England to pass the Coercive Acts, demonstrate a
state of Nature. Mr. John Locke came up with the idea of a theoretical state of Nature, that exists before society and government and in which all...

Research Paper On Workplace Mobbing
(Horvat, B., & Pagon, M., 2012, Para. Abstract) says, "creating a "mobbing safe" work environment can be a real challenge; to achieve it, a better
understanding of related construct is necessary". Workplace mobbing in its own can be detrimental to any organization and it's even worse when
employers are made aware of actions such as workplace mobbing and no nothing at all. According to (Horvat, B. & Pagon, M. 2012, pg. 160),
"Leymann (1990), describes workplace mobbing as psychological, terror in a workplace caused by individual or a group on a daily basis for at
least six months, until the victim leaves the organization or becomes in capable of practicing of his or her profession". Workplace mobbing
definition is a very serious offense and organizations should not take any situation lightly when an employee comes forward to report workplace
mobbing. For example, my former employer faced a situation where an employee filed a complaint against a supervisor for workplace mobbing. The
employee was sent into a nervous breakdown and had to be admitted to the hospital all because this supervisor was engaging in workplace mobbing.
The end result to this situation was my co–worker had an extended hospital stay and now due to this traumatic experience, she is still employed with

initialism LGB, which was used to replace the term gay in reference to the LGBT community beginning in the mid–to–late 1980s [4]. Activists believed
that the term gay community did not accurately represent all those to whom it referred [5]. In 2016 GLAAD's Media Reference Guide states that
LGBTQ is the preferred initialism, being more inclusive of younger members of the communities who embrace queer as a self–descriptor [6].

The Causes Of Social Media Witch Hunts In The Crucible
Malcolm Gaskill who created an online article on witch hunting, stated, "The words "slut" and "whore" had been directed at 6,500 twitter users in
10,000 tweets through one three week period." Witch hunts have been present throughout our history and have evolved to a much higher scale in
the digital age. Social media has created a new type of witch hunt through harassment and bandwagoning when something that's popular is
spreading. Social media witch hunts are very similar to that of The Crucible's. Individuals are accused and harassed by groups of people while
suffering throughout the process. However, for social media witch hunts, it is the millions of users that go against the victim while in The Crucible,
it is the few townsfolk. Based on the information at hand, we must ask ourselves, How has witch hunting evolved from what it was like in The
Crucible to what it is like now with the involvement of social media?Witch hunts have been around for many years and have caused lots of harm to
people in history. According to Craig Charles, "A witch hunt is a term used to describe the baseless yet angry accusations thrown at people, often
females." When referring to social media witch hunts, this would be the countless number of people on the internet who assault individuals because of
their disagreement of what someone says. Social media witch hunts can also be defined as "Attacks through social media, known as cyberbullying in
the digital age" (Gaskill). Gaskill makes a good

Workplace Bullying In Australia Essay
Australia's workplace safety laws is in need of re–examination. According to, "The race without a finishing line: legislative means for confronting
bullying in the Australian workplace" (2016, p. 352) Hanley and O'Rourke disclose bullying as a "psychological hazard" in which the victims
(employees) health undermines the "successful pursuit of corporate and employee objectives". Workplacebullying exists, and although underrated,
Australia's organisations are at risk corroding employees self–confidence and esteem, while also costing Australian industries between A$6 billion and
A$36 billion annually (House of Representatives Standing Committee on Education and Employment (HoR) 2012, 10). However, justice has provided

Hanley , Anne O'Rourke, highlights the effects of workplace bullying to be intimidating, emotionally damaging persistent interpersonal abusive
behaviour directed at one or several individuals. Workplace bullying is essentially an array of anti–social behaviours practiced by an individual to
intimidate their victims within their workplace "over a period of time" or routinely. Furthermore, bullying is catalysed by "internal violence", a form
which can vary in meaning (Timo, Fulop and Ruthjerse (2004). Within the European Union (EU) and Australia, bullying is commonly characterised as
a "lower–level" violence, whereas in the United States, terms such as harassment, mistreatment, or emotional abuse are preferred (Mayhew and
Chappell 2007). Additionally, Hanley and ORourke suggest "horizontal" violence and "mobbing" (group bullying) as other forms of bullying within
the workforce to explain the "hostile" and "aggressive" nature groups of individuals abuse their victims with. Hanley and O'Rourke continue that for
an 'event' to be acknowledged as workplace bullying, "consensus is that a target's exposure to such behaviours must occur frequently; that the
behaviour is repeated over a period of time, and that it is not a one–time/ one–off incident"(Caponecchia and Wyatt 2011; Parzefall and Salin

Freedom Riders Research Paper
Freedom Riders From blacks getting beaten and mobbed to setting the bus on fire. In 1961, the blacks along with others like white people, had
enough of the inequality they had to go through. A group of people known as the Freedom Riders, set out on a journey to the deep south to violate
laws. The riders were mistreated but they did not give up, they risked their lives and soon their prayer of freedom was answered. Starting in 1961
was when everything began. Freedom riders were starting their risky journey to end segregation at the bus stops and stores. Many people who were
part of the freedom rides, blacks and whites were ready to go into the deep south to begin their freedom rights movement. On their way to Alabama,
they met with Martin Luther King, an activist and leader of the Civil Rights Movement. King did not agree with the whole situation of going into the
deep south to violate laws to end segregation because of the violence that would happen. Once they got to Anniston, Alabama everything went into a
huge mess. A clan of attacking, white racist people were ready to attack the freedom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sephy's Movement When The Bomb Blown Away By Malorie Blackman
Malorie Blackman makes the aftermath of the Dundale Shopping Centre bombing very vivid for the reader by using very interesting and useful word
and phrases.
Malorie starts the scene by describing when the bomb blown off. She starts with a flash, which gives the readers the picture of light sparked instantly,
followed by a simile 'like the very air was alight' to show that everything around was burnt up. Then she uses the word 'a fraction of a second' to tell
that just immediately after the flash, a bomb exploded. An interesting adjective 'most colossal' was used to show how gigantic it is. She then
describes Sephy's movement when she was blown off by, again, using a simile 'like a dry leaf in a high wind' which picture the readers of Sephy
being blown away. A sentence 'and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malorie also compares the resounding sound in Sephy's head with the ringing sound. Short sentences and questions are used to emphasize and
questions the reader's mind, respectively. For example, 'I lay in daze. Was I dead? Was this what it felt like to die?' From the example, the writer
also keeps repeating similar words: daze, die, dead. The phrase 'what on earth had happened' gives a very strong feeling of what happened around
Sephy. From my imagination, the picture of people mobbing around, crying, screaming, and the Dundale center collapsing and suddenly went on
fire appears in my mind. The writer also uses several interesting phrases. For example, 'billowing smoke shot out'. This is effective, because the
word billowing and shot out make me see that the smoke is pouring out of the roof very quickly and spreading all around Sephy. Malorie again uses a
simile 'like the end of the world' when Sephy was deafened and it was eerily quiet. When she was deafened she is expressed to be panic–stricken, this
word gives the reader the picture of Sephy being frightened, confused and upset. Later, when she can hear like normal,

Bullying In Health And Social Care Essay
WORKPLACE BULLY
Bullying is repeated irrational behaviour that could reasonably be known to be humiliating, intimidating, terrifying or belittling to a person, or group
of persons, which creates a risk to health and safety. Repeated refers to the ongoing nature of the behaviour and can refer to a range of different types
of behaviour over time, It does not refer to the specific type of behaviour, which may vary.Bullying may comprise a blend of behaviours. Bullying and
harassment at work may be defined as repeated behavior, actions and practices directed at one or more workers, which may be carried out intentionally
or unconsciously, but which are unwanted targets causing humiliation, offence, and anguish, and which may interfere with job performance and
causing an unpleasant working environment. Bullying influences everyone within an organization, not just those people who are being targeted. It
also impacts the families and friend of those being bullied. People who witness bullying are also affected by this behavior. The idea of bullying has
been an international matter of concern for the past 20 years. When bullying was first identified, it was called as "mobbing" by Heinz Leymann

Moby Dick Symbolism Analysis
Moby Dick Symbolism Moby Dick by Herman Melville is full of many symbols foreshadowing doom, but the one that stood out to me was the
Pequod. The Pequod is the whaling ship and it helps provide a symbol of doom or failure by a couple things: Ahab directs the ship in an unorthodox
way and doesn't use it for it's main intended purpose, the way that the boat is decorated and portrayed in the painting at the Spouter Inn makes it seem
dark and gloomy, and the place that the name of the boat doesn't come from good history. All these contribute to the theme and help define the
characters as the story goes on. The ship's captain Ahab doesn't conduct the ship in the way that most whaling ships ought to. While he should be

The appearance of the ship is not of uplifting image. It's dark and gloomy and decorated with bones, and a sperm whale and a right whale head hanging
off of the side, quite literally symbolising death in the way that it's almost a floating carcass. At the start of the book the narrator described a
painting Inside of the Spouter Inn which was so dark and gloomy it was hard to tell what it was even of. The painting displayed picture of a whale
ramming the side of a ship in a storm in the ocean with mountainous waves. This image showed what whales could do and created a sense of how
dangerous the open waters can be. The name of the ship "Pequod" was also the name of an indian tribe which were killed off into extinction by
diseases that the white settlers brought. They say not to judge a book by it's cover but I think that in this circumstance you can. More often than not,
ships are named after luxurious or majestic things, not something gone. Nowadays doing that would be like naming your cruise the The Titanic, no
one would want to ride it because they know that the previous ship sunk to the bottom of the ocean, which doesn't make it a very welcoming name
based on what happened in history. To come to a conclusion, the ship provides readers with context clues in being able to

Discrimination In The Workplace
As attorneys with a combined experience of over 50 years in the field of employment law, we have seen dramatic changes in the protection the law
affords those in the workplace. We all have a sense of the dismal working conditions endemic at the turn of the 20th Century. The American system
of mass production required the use of machinery, while the statutory framework did nothing to protect the worker against serious bodily injury or
death. Tort law provided little or no recourse for the survivors of dead workers or for injured and disabled employees. Then in response to deadly
mine explosions and heavy machinery accidents workers compensation laws were enacted in 1910 to protect against the hazards of an unsafe
workplace. But it was not until the 1970's with the passage of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) that employers were required to provide

Enactment the following year of Title VII specifically targeted discrimination in the workplace. This legislation explicitly prohibits employment
discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin and created an enforcement agency, the Equal Employment Opportunity

40 and older. Enforcement provisions were added to Title VII in 1972. In 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act expanded Title VII's protections to
apply to citizens with physical and mental disabilities. And the Civil Rights Act of 1991 brought further changes to Title VII litigation. Its greatest
change was authorizing plaintiffs to recover punitive

A–INTRODUCTION
It is possible that most of us; the students, the employees or even some academicians don't know the term "mobbing". Mobbing is a new term in
today's management issues. The term comes from other fields of study, i.e.; behavioral sciences.
Mobbing basically refers to an attacking behavior. Mobbing was used firstly to describe the attacks from a smaller group of animals directed against
one single larger animal. Later on, this animal behavior term was carried on to child behavior, and referred to the very destructive behaviors of a

Theoretically mobbing is an extreme form of social stressors at work. It is amazing both from the scientist's and the practitioner's point of view that
there was so little prior research in this area.
A social interaction, through which one s attacked by one or more (seldom more than 4) individuals on almost a daily basis and for periods of many
months, forcing the person into an almost helpless position with a high potential risk of expulsion.
Mobbing is long lasting, recurrent, and serious negative actions and behavior that is annoying and oppressing. It is not mobbing if you are scolded
once or somebody shrugs his/her shoulders at you once. Negative behaviors develop into mobbing when it becomes continuous and repeated. Often the
victim of mobbing feels unable to defend him/herself.
The direction of hostile communication and behaviors toward one individual.
The phenomena of repeated workplace aggression by individuals to harm other with whom they work.
Psychological terror at workplace
Ganging up on someone in the work place
The situations where an employee is persistently picked on or humiliated by leaders or coworkers. Originally refers to group aggression.
Mobbing or mobbing is one form of extreme negative social interaction at work.
All these definitions vary in their content but refer to the same fact; a fact that one faces

Demands of customers which couldnВґt always be measured, are causing complaints about e.g. delays or bad handling. Especially front office
employees have to deal with enormous pressure by being consistently confronted with complaints, and personal affronts from customers. Furthermore
Fineman S. (2003):164 describes the occurrence of organizational violence in the workplace as a failing in the ethnically opinions of entrepreneur and
characterizes this form of bullying as follows,
"It translates into practices that systematically cause danger, risk or exploitation to employees. Emotionally, the employer can feel indifferent, even
derisory about its workers and their psychological or physical well–being: 'there are always more out there'. The worker may feel equally indifferent
but trapped in the job."
Actually frequent occurrence of such, as in the majority of cases irrelevant sensed incidents, leads to a growth of troubles and personal antipathy
against fellow–workers and employers is growing until the straw that breaks the camelВґs back and physically or psychological damages are the
immediate consequences.
As has been proved in an array of researches by organisations dealing with the problems of bullying and harassment in the workplace, like ACAS,
bullying affects a company in a tremendous variety of ways. Hotel and Hospitality industry is a very people–intensive branch primarily composed of
small businesses. According to ACSA a

The Hawaiian monk seal, or Monachus schauinslandi, was one of the original species to be placed under the Endangered Species Act that was
enacted in 1973. As of 2010, the population of the monk seal is approximately 1,100, with an annual decrease of approximately 4.5%. The Hawaiian
monk seal is primarily found on the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands that are made up of coral reef atolls, seamounts, banks, and shoals. This is due to
the fact that the monk seals primarily forage on the barrier reefs of the atolls, on submerged reefs, and on banks further from the atolls (Curtice et al,
2011). The monk seals are primarily benthic forgers and will search for food in a broad depth range up to 500m and over different substrates (National
Marine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population decline in monk seals is due to several different factors with the biggest reason due to the low pup and juvenile survival rates (Curtice
et al, 2011). At the Kure Atoll on the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, 32 pups were observed in 1964 and 30 pups were observed in 1965. Of these
pups born, all but one died or disappeared within 60 days after birth. This was also seen in the 1970's at Green Island and Kure Atoll, where a mean
population of 17 and 14 seals, respectively, was counted on these beaches, with a birth total of 10 showing a population decline of 70% (Gilmartin
et al, 2011). The juvenile survival rate is still seen today with one in five monk seals surviving to the reproductive age, with one year old seals having
the highest mortality rates (Norris et al, 2011). One of the reasons this is occurring is due to human interaction. Adult females who are near birth or
who have just given birth are very sensitive to disturbance (Gilmartin, Johanos, DeMaster, & Henderson, 2011). In 1960, the U.S. Coast Guard built a
station on Green Island that was previously unoccupied to humans, and as a result of this the female monk seals would encounter humans almost daily
causing the female monk seals to leave that preferred hauling and birthing sites and go to beaches that were highly affected by flooding, shark

Current Literature Regarding the History of Bullying Research
Adult bullying at work is shockingly common and very destructive. In an in–depth analysis of 146 organizations worldwide, workplaces evidencing
bullying on a relatively routine basis made up 44% of the total analyzed. U.S. studies also suggest alarming prevalence rates. During any given 6 to 12
month period, up to 13 percent of workers are bullied on the job; this increases significantly when counting those bullied anytime during their careers
.These numbers translate to millions of workers: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 136 million Americans were employed in July 2008. An
estimated 55 million Americans have been bullied at work using the 33% rate. This paper reviews the current literature regarding the history ofbullying

A decade later, the topic surfaced in England In 1991, a freelance journalist named Andrea Adams, brought the issue to public attention in Britain
through a series of BBC radio posts; she labeled the phenomenon "bullying." As a result of Adams' work and public concern, interest in and the study of
bullying intensified in the U.K. Although Scandinavia and the U.K. continue to lead in this area, bullying and mobbing research now includes, among
others, scholars and professionals in Japan, Australia, and Canada.
In the United States the history of adult bullying research has been less straightforward. U.S. psychiatrist Carroll Brodsky conducted one of the first
studies of workplace harassment and subsequently published "The Harassed Worker". Despite the groundbreaking nature of his work, the book stirred
little interest at the time. Brodsky's research was revived in the early 1990s when interest surged in England. Around this same time, the study of human
aggression expanded to include aggression at work, research that was centrally concerned with perpetrators. In the early 1990s, nursing professor,
Helen Cox, began studying verbal abuse in medical settings when it appeared to be driving away gifted nursing students. Around the same time rare
but highly visible occurrences of workplace murder sparked a massive amount of research that extended into the next two. In the late 1990s research

Predator Avoidance And A Small Bodied Primates
Introduction
The genus Tarsius of which we have fossils from the Middle Eocene in China, the Early Miocene in northwestern Thailand, and the Middle Miocene
in northern Thailand, allow us to compare ancient characters with many modern extant tarsiers. Tarsiers are subject to high levels of predation as they
inhabit a specific biotope and are subject to avian predators as well as ground dwelling species (Е ehГЎkovГЎ–Petru, PeЕЎke, and DanД›k 2012).
Predation avoidance is important to a small bodied primate, for example a tarsier or galago (Gursky 2003). The hypothesis of predator avoidance when
applied to the many unique characters seen in nocturnal, small bodied primates suggests that adaptations were a necessity to avoid predation (Gursky

The main predators of spectral tarsiers include monitor lizards (Varanus indicus), snakes (Python reticulatus), Malaysian civets (Viverra tangalunga),
and various birds of prey, including falcons (Falco sp.) (Gursky, 1997).
Sight Adaptations
The tarsier possess eyes that are very large in relative proportion with their body size and happen to be larger than their brains. The average extant
tarsier eye weighs 3 grams and measures 1.6 centimetres in diameter. In contrast their brain is only 3.3 grams (Groves 1998). The pitfall to these
large eyes is that the tarsier cannot move its eye in the orbital socket. The unique shape of a tarsier's spine allows it to rotate its head nearly 360
degrees and counteract the problem of non–moving eye (Ross 1996). Primarily in most nocturnal species the eye, while relatively large, also possesses
a tapetum lucidum, a thin layer of reflective tissue at the back of the retina. While tarsiers lack a tapetum lucidum like one would see in felids, it also
lacks the eye shine that comes with a tapetum lucidum, thus providing an advantage to remaining unseen in nocturnal conditions (Ross 1996). The
tarsier's lack of a tapetum is of course amply compensated by eye size and a likely consequence of secondary adoption of nocturnality by its branch of
the common haplorrhine lineage (Crompton, 1989).

My Fear Of Whites

  • 1. My Fear Of Whites WHITEY !!!!!Race was always a problem growing as a child, and the things you hear whites saying was really mean. Also, the name calling was very old to us as well blacks because they would yell a lot of unnecessary things such as all black eat and drink watermelon, grape soda, and eat chicken, but that wasn't the case. No matter whatever whites said about us because we assumed the same thing about whites. Justly, I thought that whites where scared of every black person; for example, when I visit Wal–Mart and I decided to go down some different ales where whites were always would leave the ale that I was in, and they would go into the other ale, in addition they would wait into I leave to come back into the ale. Nevertheless, most of the time whites are very scared of us, but honestly blacks are scared of whites too.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 2. Bullying At Work Is A Mental Or Physical Menace INTRODUCTION Bullying at work is a mental or physical menace caused by a man or group of individuals at work environment (g). It can happen in any sort of work environment and the individual or gathering need not be supervisors or managers, it can originate from collaborators as well. At work, bullying is viewed as rehashed behavior, where it creates a risk to one's well–being and security. It develops when one or a few people industriously over a time–frame see themselves to be forced to bear contrary activities from one or a set of individuals, in a circumstance where the one at the less than desirable end experiences issues in protecting him/herself against these activities (pdf 7). The term 'bullying' is most widely used in UK and Australia whereas in Germany, Scandinavia it is termed as 'mobbing' while in the US it is used as 'workplace harassment' (pdf 5). Bullying at work is across the board and is by all accounts spreading like a pandemic, whereas in the past, individuals could sensibly hope to experience their working lives without meeting a genuine tormenting occurrence, now anybody can be in danger of being seriously harassed, maybe a few times in their profession (pdf 1). Bullying drives away man 's self–assurance. It undermines fearlessness, it prompts restlessness, to numerous excursions to the surgery for stress and anxiety related conditions, agitation and most especially to misery (pdf 2). Bullying can be of various types such as social bullying, verbal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Sick Leave Case 1) Work related injury classification in the medical certificate serves to determine the compensation during the sick leave and BZR payment and does not necessarily implies that the employer is responsible for the work injury, hence you are not directly required to make any payment pertaining to the medical certificate classification. 2) We understand that it is likely that the employee has a pre–existing medical diagnosis and a specific medical condition which was not communicated to you before. Therefore, it is questionable if his injury is the consequence of work injury or only the manifestation of his existing condition. 3) It is questionable if any other person within the same circumstances would experience any injury or the eventual subjective, personal sensitiveness of the employee (which has never been... What happens when people start jumping to conclusions? People do these little things everyday. Sometimes, though, it can go to extremes. Recently, my class read a story and watched a few tv show episodes. Both shows dealt with suspicions and conclusion jumping. These shows have some defining similarities that make them comparable. • 7. The And Benefits Of A Behavioral Strategy 1. When comparing two behavioral types – in simple terms – what determines the relative costs and benefits of a behavioral strategy (when compared to another option)? The environment determines the relative costs and benefits of a behavioral strategy. 2. Can the costs and benefits of strategies change over time? Answer YES or NO, and then – in simple terms – using no more than 1 sentence – explain why or why not. Yes, the costs and benefits of strategies can change over time, because the environment can change over time. Using optimality and game theory = can earn up to 4 points 3. Explain optimality theory. Include how changes in the environment might shift the decision. How your voice compares to other callers, the number of satellites that already exist per caller, and the number of predators around would all influence Harry's decision to become a satellite or caller. If an environmental shift were to occur in which the majority of frogs were small and unable to call, it would be beneficial for Harry to become a caller, as a medium–sized frog, because someone has to call in order to attract the females. If a different shift in environment occurred in which all frogs were large and chose to call, it would be beneficial for Harry to become a satellite, because there would be very few other satellites with which Harry would have to compete for females with. 6D. Which of these factors do not involve assessing what other frogs are actually doing? Of the above factors, Harry's voice does not involve assessing what other frogs are actually doing, because Harry knows his relative size, and therefore his calling ability. Summary In Paul Feine's essay "McBastards: McDonald's and globalization", he addresses the negative views that many foreign cultures have about McDonald's. He divides the essay into four sections. By breaking down the essay, he clearly shows his audience the ways in which the world views McDonald's. He discussed the idea of cultural imperialism and the negative effects on foreign cultures, but shows the reader that these views may not be accurate. He ended his essay with a paragraph focusing on how McDonald's brings people together. • 9. Case Study Of Mobbing Case Study 1: M.Ali – "I quitted my job at the hotel, where I worked for 7 years, because of mobbing. I have been feared to loose my job and I had to bear everything. However, sometimes the mobber is too close to the boss. And even the other managers, who need to protect you (this can even be the human resources manager), do not want to get involved. When I am contemplating all of these, I conclude that the boss likes it this way. The only thing I understand from this, the person who exposed mobbing to me wastes 10–15 people every year since he is in the senior position and place his men around him. The senior management involved in mobbing process, hence, Hande's motivation declined and she was fired by using low performance as the excuse. The mobbing that Hande was exposed to is hierarchical, in other words, vertical mobbing. In this vertical mobbing, the mobber and mobbers used many methods. They attacked her professional capability by giving too much work or not giving any work. They excluded her by not talking to her, humiliated her or communicated maliciously with her. Since mid–level manager were involved in the mobbing, we can assert that it was a type of "mass mobbing". It is contemplated that the mobbers have narcissistic personality traits. These persons felt uncomfortable by the presence of a successful subordinate and they strive to intimidate her. In fact, they are using the low performance as an excuse since Hande's performance was decreased because of mobbing. When we contemplate the personal characteristics of Hande, we find out that she is neither submissive nor silent when encountered an injustice. However, Hande thinks that she could not defend sufficiently her rights since she was lacking experience. We think that Hande is at the stage of obsession in thoughts, which is the second stage of mobbing effects. The greatest impact on this process is that the stress that Hande has suffered and the fact that she could not forget what she experienced and she has regrets because of inexperience. A Novice Manager’s Tale of Woe A Novice Manager's Tale of Woe Synopsis: The case study starts off by introducing Tricia Monet and how she was hired by the company Personal Reflections as an assistant manager for the Sioux City Store. Tricia was a middle child that had come from a family that was very close. (Note: this probably led/taught her to want to get along with those around her) Tricia had received a bachelor's degree in accounting and her only real work experience had come from an accounting firm job that she worked for less than one year. This directly led to the assistant managers breaking the chain of leadership by contacting the district manager without consulting her first. The district manager should make very clear of the expectations (norms) of the employee's loyalty and dedication toward the store manager and also explain clearly the expectations of the store manager's loyalty and dedication to the employees. For example, Employees should consult the store manager prior to changing the part–time employees work schedule. In return the store manager should ensure that each assistant manager should be provided fair and consistent evaluations on their performance. * As the district manager, she should inform all employees that they are to report directly to Tricia in all matters concerning store operation. The district manager should also inform the employees of the formal process for reporting problems/concerns. If the organization has no such policy, then the district manager could introduce a policy that explains what time of complaints can be lodged (harassment, discrimination, theft, and violence) and how they should be reported (hotline, drop box, or open door policy). • 11. The Internet : The Use Of The Internet What is the internet? According to Webster's Dictionary the internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols. The internet is a great and useful tool that nearly all Americans use every single day, probably more than ten times a day. Theinternet is not always used as a useful tool however. The internet has been used for evil and wrong doings over the years. The internet has been used for things like catfishing, cyberbullying, and loss of privacy. The first problem that I will be addressing is catfishing. Catfishing is the act of luring (someone) into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona, according to Webster's Dictionary. The internet allows people to make social profiles that someone could make to pose as someone they are not to possibly murder, rape or even kidnap. • 12. Leadership Of Elephants : The Adaptive Value Of Age From the above discussion, it can be seen that not only that the elder matriarchal leaders are vital to maintaining the equilibrium state inside the herd, they too play an enormous role in determining the way in which the group will react to the outside influences, and that function also contributes to the degree in which the group is dependent on these old ladies . One of the most direct way that this influence can be recognized is in the ability to survive from dangerous predators. In " Leadership in elephants: the adaptive value of age" and "Matriarchs As Repositories of Social Knowledge in African Elephants", conducted by Karen McComb and two different teams, an experiment is carried out, in which the different elephant families are ... Since at more stable elephant herds, the most likely sole source of violence they have to worry about is the one from their natural predators, and the presence of the older female matriarch is the key the safety of the whole herd from external violence, these ladies can be considered as the peacekeepers of elephant society. However, there is more to the effect that female leaders have on the violent status of the group that keeps it far away from being always nice and kind. In elephant society as well as that of spider and other animals, in accordance to "Animal Behaviour" by a group of authors including Andreas P. Modlmeier, "the presence of a few mature females drastically increased a groups ' foraging aggressiveness" (9). The appearance of the mature matriarch rapidly increases the number of members of the group who participate in hunting and also their confidence, which results in more aggressive attitude and more bloody hunts. From this phenomenon, the older female leaders are considered to be the "keystone individuals". The term is defined as individuals who " influence group dynamics and success in a diverse variety of animal societies" (Modlmeier et al. 9). • 13. Bullying And What Affects It Has On A Person Being Bullied My topic of research will be on bullying and what affects it has on a person being bullied. To start out, bullying is justified as using supreme strength or influence to intimidate someone, usually to have another person do what you want them to do (Wikipedia, 2016). The word bully was first used in the 1530s, and it's meaning then meant "sweetheart", it went on to be used as fine, fellow, bluster, and then to the harasser of the weak (Bullying, 2016). A person who becomes a bully isn't born that way, it comes from a young age at when they were the ones getting picked on. When children are young, they can get bullied by their families, neighbors, or other children at school. When this happens it causes certain children to think this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are four stages of bullying abuse that can affect a person for their entire life. They are: 1) Emotional, 2) Verbal, 3) Physical, and 4) Cyber (Bullying, 2016). With the effects of emotional abuse, the victim is left with no self worth, they start to believe everything the bully is saying is true, and it leads them to depression. The verbal abuse from a bully can leave a person feeling small because of the rumors spread by the bully and by the bully making fun of them to others. Physical abuse can lead to being hospitalized for being beaten up, will make you feel scared to be alone, and it can also make you paranoid like everyone is out to get you. Lastly, with Cyber bullying, a bully can attack a person through social media, emails, and texts. With bullying, boys are highly to be attacked by a bully with physical abuse and girls are likely to be bullied indirectly. Statistics show that 15 to 25 children commit suicide. • 14. Rationale And Significance Of Animal Selection Theory Rationale and Significance Since Darwin published his theory of evolution, cooperation in organisms from bacteria to humans has been a difficult dilemma in evolutionary theory. Even Darwin did not fully understand how altruistic acts in organisms fit into the natural selection theory. Natural selection theory states that an individual that has inherited a trait that gives them a better chance at surviving, will be naturally selected for. An explanation as to why a trait that causes an individual to act in a way that is costly to it persists in groups has confounded scientists for centuries. Since then, scientists like Trivers and Williams provide theories to explain altruistic acts that still satisfy the natural selection theory. Williams appealed to kinship to satisfy the behavior, and Trivers appealed to reciprocal altruism where an altruistic act was conditionally reciprocated (Trivers 2006, Williams 1966). This study seeks to look at the possibility of three of the main theories; by product mutualism, kin selection, or reciprocal altruism as explanations to cooperation in the Pied flycatchers. The birds provide a rich study system in which they form breeding pairs, large amount of social interactions, and societies are composed of both unrelated and related individuals. Although many studies look at these explanations separately, this study integrates all the different explanations of cooperation into one experiment, keeping the species, environment, and individuals ... These actions occur on a very frequent basis (statistical deп¬Ѓnition: at least once a week) and over a long period of time (statistical deп¬Ѓnition: at least 6 months of duration). Most of the studies related to the constructs explored in this study were completed in Western countries, reflecting Anglo/individualized cultural values (Yousef, 2002). Due partly to this, differences in the range of variables and the mobility of literature across different cultures (Glazer and Beehr, 2005) still remains relatively unexplored. Introduction Employee mistreatment is the inclination of a group or an individual to make use of unreasonable or aggressive behaviour in order to achieve their goals. It is a recurring maltreatment of one employee targeted by one group or employee with malicious intimidation, humiliation and sabotage of work performance (Bush, & Lipari). Workplace mistreatment is not similar to physical form of bully. It is operated within the established policies and rules of a society or an organization. Employee mistreatment is also referred to mobbing. Although mobbing means any form of bully by more than one individual, aggression or psychological terror. It can be hostile attitude at workplace, emotional violence or workplace trauma (Porter and Brinke 508–514). Civility crises are the major reason for mistreatment of colleagues at workplace. Workplace is one the places where people face incivility. A large number of people complain or witness frequent incivility while going to school, driving, participating in a political activity or even walking on the sidewalk. These people face incivility in no use of thank you and please. Studies have been attributing the crisis of civility to clash of cultures. People from various national backgrounds encounter more frequently each other in a global setting (Pearson & Porath 23) Similarly, the clash of codes of conduct across different age groups leads to older people dismissing young generation as uncultured and rude louts who do not have work ethics (Hershcovis 499–519) In this paper we will study in detail the workplace mistreatment and its various forms. We will also shed some light on the significance of this problem and its leading consequences. We will also devise some solution to this problem. We will end this report with concluding stances and recommendations for organizations to overcome this serious concern of these days. • 19. Bullying in the Workplace Introduction Bullying in the workplace has always been an issue that has not been given much importance. It is indeed a problem that should be addressed by the concerned personnel because it can result in many health and safety issues, especially when nurses are bullied at their workplace. From the beginning of times, people who are deployed at a senior post to tend to look down upon the students or new people who have just started work. Nursing is also one of the professions in which the fresh graduates or students are bullied to the extent that they feel that they would not be able to face their seniors. They start developing inferiority complex and are unable to perform their job well. When they are taunted by their seniors and preceptors about their lack of knowledge and experience, their confidence is shattered. This implies that when they are handling a case, they are not confident if they are doing the right thing or not. In this tussle, they sometimes do not even perform the task they were really good at and put the health and safety of the patient at stake. Many incidents of this sort have taken place in the past and take place every single day and it is an example of just a single profession in which bullying is quite extensive and subtle at the same time. Therefore, the administration of the hospitals, and other workplaces for that matter, should make sure that the trainees are not targeted by their seniors just because they have less experience than them. Recent activity in our neighboring colonies, has shown rebellion against the crown. Some have tried revolting against our motherland England, the same motherland that has nourished us for all of these years. Some of my opponents have argued that a son must grow up and move away from his mother, but, while a son does need to grow up and move away, he must respect his mother as she supports him. We need to sustain England's support to reinforce our resilient future. With that I say, New York City must reopen its courts to protect our property rights, stop rebellion, protect innocent people from mobbing, and to keep New York from reaching a state of Nature. The costly and disastrous attacks in the Boston harbor that forced England to pass the Coercive Acts, demonstrate a state of Nature. Then she uses the word 'a fraction of a second' to tell that just immediately after the flash, a bomb exploded. An interesting adjective 'most colossal' was used to show how gigantic it is. Short sentences and questions are used to emphasize and questions the reader's mind, respectively. For example, 'I lay in daze. Was I dead? Was this what it felt like to die?' From my imagination, the picture of people mobbing around, crying, screaming, and the Dundale center collapsing and suddenly went on fire appears in my mind. The writer also uses several interesting phrases. For example, 'billowing smoke shot out'. This is effective, because the word billowing and shot out make me see that the smoke is pouring out of the roof very quickly and spreading all around Sephy. Malorie again uses a simile 'like the end of the world' when Sephy was deafened and it was eerily quiet. Theoretically mobbing is an extreme form of social stressors at work. It is amazing both from the scientist's and the practitioner's point of view that there was so little prior research in this area. A social interaction, through which one s attacked by one or more (seldom more than 4) individuals on almost a daily basis and for periods of many months, forcing the person into an almost helpless position with a high potential risk of expulsion. Mobbing is long lasting, recurrent, and serious negative actions and behavior that is annoying and oppressing. It is not mobbing if you are scolded once or somebody shrugs his/her shoulders at you once. Negative behaviors develop into mobbing when it becomes continuous and repeated. Often the victim of mobbing feels unable to defend him/herself. The direction of hostile communication and behaviors toward one individual.

Emotionally, the employer can feel indifferent, even derisory about its workers and their psychological or physical well–being: 'there are always more out there'. The worker may feel equally indifferent but trapped in the job." • 36. The Hawaiian Monk Seal, Or Monachus Schauinslandi The Hawaiian monk seal, or Monachus schauinslandi, was one of the original species to be placed under the Endangered Species Act that was enacted in 1973. As of 2010, the population of the monk seal is approximately 1,100, with an annual decrease of approximately 4.5%. The Hawaiian monk seal is primarily found on the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands that are made up of coral reef atolls, seamounts, banks, and shoals. This is due to the fact that the monk seals primarily forage on the barrier reefs of the atolls, on submerged reefs, and on banks further from the atolls (Curtice et al, 2011). The monk seals are primarily benthic forgers and will search for food in a broad depth range up to 500m and over different substrates (National Marine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The population decline in monk seals is due to several different factors with the biggest reason due to the low pup and juvenile survival rates (Curtice et al, 2011). At the Kure Atoll on the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, 32 pups were observed in 1964 and 30 pups were observed in 1965. Of these pups born, all but one died or disappeared within 60 days after birth. This was also seen in the 1970's at Green Island and Kure Atoll, where a mean population of 17 and 14 seals, respectively, was counted on these beaches, with a birth total of 10 showing a population decline of 70% (Gilmartin et al, 2011). The juvenile survival rate is still seen today with one in five monk seals surviving to the reproductive age, with one year old seals having the highest mortality rates (Norris et al, 2011). One of the reasons this is occurring is due to human interaction. Adult females who are near birth or who have just given birth are very sensitive to disturbance (Gilmartin, Johanos, DeMaster, & Henderson, 2011). In 1960, the U.S. Coast Guard built a station on Green Island that was previously unoccupied to humans, and as a result of this the female monk seals would encounter humans almost daily causing the female monk seals to leave that preferred hauling and birthing sites and go to beaches that were highly affected by flooding, shark predation, and ... • 37. Current Literature Regarding the History of Bullying Research Adult bullying at work is shockingly common and very destructive. In an in–depth analysis of 146 organizations worldwide, workplaces evidencing bullying on a relatively routine basis made up 44% of the total analyzed. U.S. studies also suggest alarming prevalence rates. During any given 6 to 12 month period, up to 13 percent of workers are bullied on the job; this increases significantly when counting those bullied anytime during their careers .These numbers translate to millions of workers: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 136 million Americans were employed in July 2008. An estimated 55 million Americans have been bullied at work using the 33% rate. This paper reviews the current literature regarding the history ofbullying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A decade later, the topic surfaced in England In 1991, a freelance journalist named Andrea Adams, brought the issue to public attention in Britain through a series of BBC radio posts; she labeled the phenomenon "bullying." As a result of Adams' work and public concern, interest in and the study of bullying intensified in the U.K. Although Scandinavia and the U.K. continue to lead in this area, bullying and mobbing research now includes, among others, scholars and professionals in Japan, Australia, and Canada. In the United States the history of adult bullying research has been less straightforward. U.S. psychiatrist Carroll Brodsky conducted one of the first studies of workplace harassment and subsequently published "The Harassed Worker". Despite the groundbreaking nature of his work, the book stirred little interest at the time. Brodsky's research was revived in the early 1990s when interest surged in England. Around this same time, the study of human aggression expanded to include aggression at work, research that was centrally concerned with perpetrators. In the early 1990s, nursing professor, Helen Cox, began studying verbal abuse in medical settings when it appeared to be driving away gifted nursing students. Around the same time rare but highly visible occurrences of workplace murder sparked a massive amount of research that extended into the next two. The two articles we read this week were titled "Black Men in Public Spaces" and Warning: Pokemon Go is a Death Sentence if you are a Black Man. Both of these were written years apart, one in 2016 and another in 1986, and while they have the same message, the context in which they were written is a little different. While Staples focuses more on how the average white male reacts to a young, black man, Akil focuses more onpolice brutality, which is understandable when it's taken into context about how for the past few years a lot of outright, and unnecessary, violence towards black males have been from police, including merciless beatings, tazings, and shootings, resulting in comas, deaths, and months of hospital stays for young black males ... • 42. Predator Avoidance And A Small Bodied Primates Introduction The genus Tarsius of which we have fossils from the Middle Eocene in China, the Early Miocene in northwestern Thailand, and the Middle Miocene in northern Thailand, allow us to compare ancient characters with many modern extant tarsiers. Tarsiers are subject to high levels of predation as they inhabit a specific biotope and are subject to avian predators as well as ground dwelling species (Е ehГЎkovГЎ–Petru, PeЕЎke, and DanД›k 2012). Predation avoidance is important to a small bodied primate, for example a tarsier or galago (Gursky 2003). The hypothesis of predator avoidance when applied to the many unique characters seen in nocturnal, small bodied primates suggests that adaptations were a necessity to avoid predation (Gursky and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main predators of spectral tarsiers include monitor lizards (Varanus indicus), snakes (Python reticulatus), Malaysian civets (Viverra tangalunga), and various birds of prey, including falcons (Falco sp.) (Gursky, 1997). Sight Adaptations The tarsier possess eyes that are very large in relative proportion with their body size and happen to be larger than their brains. The average extant tarsier eye weighs 3 grams and measures 1.6 centimetres in diameter. In contrast their brain is only 3.3 grams (Groves 1998). The pitfall to these large eyes is that the tarsier cannot move its eye in the orbital socket. The unique shape of a tarsier's spine allows it to rotate its head nearly 360 degrees and counteract the problem of non–moving eye (Ross 1996). Primarily in most nocturnal species the eye, while relatively large, also possesses a tapetum lucidum, a thin layer of reflective tissue at the back of the retina. While tarsiers lack a tapetum lucidum like one would see in felids, it also lacks the eye shine that comes with a tapetum lucidum, thus providing an advantage to remaining unseen in nocturnal conditions (Ross 1996). The tarsier's lack of a tapetum is of course amply compensated by eye size and a likely consequence of secondary adoption of nocturnality by its branch of the common haplorrhine lineage (Crompton, 1989). The benefits of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
