1. The arrangements of our music video and ancillary tasks have coupled
together well to fit our appropriate genre of acoustic music.
The chosen song was ‘I Need Your Love ‘by Ellie Goulding, however we
decided to use an acoustic version, as we felt that it would work well in
accordance to our idea of telling a love-story with an emotional twist.
One of the imperative themes in both our main product and ancillary
tasks was love.
We channelled this theme within the main product by constructing a
blatant romantic relationship between him and her, which is also
transferred through to the digipak and tour poster by emphasizing
traditional romantic symbols such as the rose.
Since our music video was strong in terms of how the genre was
conducted, it was crucial to make sure that our ancillary tasks had
qualities which expose the conventional ‘romance’ style.
This was done by the colouring in both the digipak and tour poster as we
aimed to use typical colours associated with romance, such as:
2. Red connotes passion, desire and love.
The female protagonist’s eternal love for her partner,
and how their relationship is central throughout the
video.
Red is used in the music video and digipak mainly due
to the rose, and as stated before is exemplified as a
powerful symbol of love. This fits the genre as roses are
given as a loving genre, and also contextualises a sense
of luxury as they are also expensive and brands our
media products as professional and lavish.
3. The colour pink represents spiritual yet practical,
encouraging common sense and a balanced outlook on
life.
The female showing independence by dealing with the
loss of him in a strong manner, in addition to mourning
him in the graveyard scene showing that she still loves
him despite him being dead.
Pink is mainly used in the digipak in the tour poster, as
there is a gradient from blue to pink, which colourises
the picture of the female protagonist. This mainly
attracts the female target audience as pink is
stereotypically viewed as a feminine colour and attracts
them into viewing the poster.
4. The colour white connotes light, goodness, innocence and
purity
This presents her as a character as protagonist which
causes the audience to build a rapport and may also
create a sense of personal identity if audiences are going
through the same thing.
White is used mainly in the digipak, and in advertising is
related to coolness and cleanliness, which is beneficial as
those features make the digipak appear professional and
gives the look a ‘clean edge’.The female protagonist
wearing white in the pictures also demonstrates her
innocent demeanour, and also characterises her.
