1. Task 6
What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Props we used…
Tripod- We found using the tripod really did help us to keep the camera still
and was defiantly needed when we were trying to film a good quality shot
and made our footage look a lot more professional looking as it keep the
camera stable , so none of our film was unstable and moving about. The only
time we did not use a tripod was in one of our last shots when we had a close
up shot of the phone ringing , this was because the tripod did not allow us to
get to as close to the phone as we wanted and we couldn’t get it at the right
angle either.
3. Apple Mac- This was the prop that we used through out the
process of making our final product when creating our film. The
mac is so useful as it offers so much good and professional
software like live type and soundtrack. The mac is also very fast
and easy to work with , so it helped us to download things really
quick and easily which meant we did not waste any of our time.
4. Camera- We used the same camera when
filming all of our shoots. The camera had one
button which you had to press when you wish to
start to film and stop , which was really easy and
quick to use.
5. Final Cut Express
Final cut express was the main software that we used to produce our
opening sequence. We imported all of our shots on to this programme
and edited all the shots to the exact size we wanted them to be. I
already knew a bit about this as we used it in our prelim task and
Arlington Road remakes so I knew certain techniques for example how
to trim something. When creating our title sequence we used many
different feautures and special effects using final cut and we learnt
how to fade shots in and out to create continious editing. Even though
I had used final cut before I had to expirment with a lot of different
things whilst we did our final product , so that it was at a proffesional
standard. I also learnt how to use the green screen and edit the
background into it afterwoods using the final cut and when doing this
we had to expirment on the speical effects and the colour corrector.
6. Soundtrack
We used soundtrack as we had to create our own piece of
music to go into the background of our title sequence. We
aimed to use eerie/creepy sounds to add more suspence and
tension for the audience. Soundtrack was really useful as the
camera did not pick up sounds very well , for example when
the phone rings we could not hear it at all , so we had to find a
phone noise on soundtrack which fitted. Soundtrack was the
best programe to use as it let us upload our final sequence
onto it and play around with all the sounds with the video
there , so we could make sure that it was all the right timings.
The only time we did not use any music was at the beginning
and end when the news reporter is speaking.
7. Live type
We used live type to create all of our titles and we learnt how to create
all different effective titles and how to change the colours , styles
, fonts and sizes. We tried to use all different effects for each bit of
writing to make our title sequence more attractive and more eye
catching to watch , but we had to keep them quite sophisticated as we
did not want them to look un professional. We decided on using the
same colours throughout as we did not want it too be too bright and
colourful so that it would look untidy and un organised. We had the
titles on a black background with white writing so that it really stood
out , as these two colours contrast. The titles were also on a frame by
themselves so that the audience could pay more attention to the
action shots when they happen, this is also good because it allows the
audience the actually read the titles instead of getting distracted by
the action
