Sibling rivalry refers to competition or animosity between brothers and sisters. It is commonly caused by jealousy when siblings are close in age or competing for parental attention and resources. Some famous examples of sibling rivalry in literature and film include Cain and Abel from the Bible, where Cain murdered his brother out of jealousy; Rachel and Leah from the Bible, where their father tricked their husband into marrying the older sister first; and characters like the Van Pelt siblings from Peanuts or the Corleone brothers from The Godfather who had antagonistic relationships.
