Subject: Science Topic: Light sources
Warm-up: 5-10 min
Begin the lesson by asking learners if they know different light sources.
Comments: Assure that the students understand what the teacher is talking to, and
encourage them to participate in the class discussion.

Methods and activity:
1. Brainstorming: Find out what learners know about light
sources by asking them to talk about or draw pictures of
where light comes from.
2. Ask learners to identify things that make light in the
classroom.
3. Let them go into the ‘Dark Den’ in pairs to investigate
light sources.
4. Group work: Divide into groups. Take learners on
a hunt for light sources around the school. Look for
lamps, fluorescent lights, computer or phone screens,
LEDs on computers and screens.
5. Back in class, ask learners to draw some of the
light sources they have seen.
5.5. Learners should find Activity 4.1B fun to do. To
sort objects into those that are light sources and
those that are not.
