Group Evaluation Board Games
Group Evaluation/Board Games
Game Title: This Way to Court
Topic: Judicial Branch, Civil Liberties, and Civil Rights
Group Members & Responsibilities/Work (What was each person responsible for/what did they do?
Include yourself.)
Name: Lindsay Josephs. I was responsible for creating approximately forty–five percent of the
questions, providing the colorful index cards to write the questions on, and for writing all of our
group's questions and answers on the index cards. I typed up my questions about the judicial branch,
civil liberties, and civil rights in our shared Google Document, the answers to these questions, and
then wrote down all of our group's questions and answers on colorful index cards.
Name: Lisa Kwok. Lisa was responsible for creating approximately forty–five percent of the
questions, providing the game pieces, and for creating the final version of the game's instructions.
Lisa added her questions and answers about all three topics onto our shared Google Document and
created the final version of the game's procedure.
Name: Emily Reinoso. Emily was responsible for creating ten of the questions we ... Show more

We each completed different aspects of the project which highlighted our creative and intellectual
strengths. For example, Emily is very artistic. Therefore, Emily utilized her artistic skills and drew
and decorated the game board. Although each member focused on different aspects of the project
which highlighted her strengths, we all worked together and did not leave one person doing all of
the work. Lisa and I spoke with Emily about the design of the game and we all shared ideas about
how the board should look and which elements of famous board games should be incorporated into
our project. All group members also brainstormed about what the game's instructions should be and
which elements of other famous board games our game should be based off

I Am Post A Review Today Of A Board Game
I thought I'd post a review today of a board game that I bought for my kids this last Christmas. Yes,
I'm aware that was 5 months ago, but it's honestly taken me this long to decide whether I love or
hate it. My family, including my 8yo and my 7yo, really enjoys playing Settlers of Catan, so when I
found out there was a version based on the building of the transcontinental railroad in the United
States, my little homeschooling heart just about burst. The game, Catan Histories: Trails to Rails, is
around the $50 mark, so I hesitated... a lot. I finally caved over the holidays because... learning and
Catan and awesomeness awaited us if I could just fork over the cash. SPECS:
The box says this game is for ages 12+, 3–4 players, and that the game takes about 2 hours. In
comparison, the original Settlers of Catan game says it's for players ages 10+, 3–4 players (but you
can buy expansions for more players), and that the game takes about an hour. REALITY:
We've played the original game with my younger kids without issue. The concepts are not too hard
for them to understand, but I've never met a Catan game that "only" lasted an hour. Ever. It usually
takes us 2–3 hours, even when it's all adults playing and no kids. Basically, I don't believe a word on
the box. Trails to Rails is actually more accurate on the box, but I still don't think a game could be
completed in 2 hours. The 12+ age range is probably a good suggestion, but you know your own
kids. It could be fun for a child

Board Game Research Paper
Board Games: Although it may sound strange now, owning board games used to be considered a
symbol of wealth. Until recently, people didn't have the free time to sit and play a game – they were
too busy working or farming. Only the wealthy had time to sit around and socialize. Board games
were not the mass produced cardboard and plastic toys we buy today. They were often handmade
and contained intricate designs. Black Teeth: In ancient Japan, having black teeth was seen as a sign
of wealth. The well–off would paint black laquer onto the teeth to try and prevent tooth decay. It
must have had some sort of effect because the phenomena appeared in two different periods of
Japanese history. Pineapples: Perhaps unsurprisingly, pineapples were

BINGO Board Game: Core Tenets Of The Constitution
The object of the first interactive learning activity is to promote a deeper understanding of the core
tenets of the Constitution. This can be accomplished by playing a BINGO board game. The prepared
BINGO sheets will contain a total of twenty–five squares with five rows going across and five rows
going down. Three BINGO sheets will be distributed to parents with the key terms listed in the
PowerPoint slides as checks and balances, federalism, judicial review, limited government, popular
sovereignty, separation of power, United States Constitution, Supreme Court, Bill of Rights,
Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and Judicial Branch printed inside each of the squares. Some
of the terms will be duplicated and some squares may contain a free space. The parents will also
receive a small packet of colored chips to use as a marker for the BINGO squares. ... Show more

The speaker will read one question relating to these core tenets. Parents will raise his or her hand to
answer the question. The presenter will continue to call on a parent to answer the question until a
correct response is given. The parents will place a colored chip on the grid if they have the correct
answer on their grid. There will be more questions asked than squares listed on the BINGO cards.
The winner of the game must have colored chips in all squares filled either across, diagonal, or in
each of the four corners of the BINGO card. When a parent fills the required squares they say
BINGO. To ensure fairness, a BINGO answer sheet will be placed on a screen so parents check his
or her BINGO sheet for accuracy. Mock

Game Analysis: XO Number Board Game
The game that I am introducing is called XO Number Board Game. In order for this game to begin
you need a piece of paper and you must label it from one to whatever number you're going up to. In
this game there are two players, X and O. X is the first person that gets to move which is either to
space one, two, or three. Then O gets to move next from the spot that x went to. For example: If X
moves one space then he will be at space one. Then O gets to decide where to go and he can either
choose two, three, or four. The goal of this game is to reach the last number on the board.
The first game goes up to thirteen. If you want to win you must first start off at one! Then the
second player can go to either two, three, or four. The next step would

Personal Narrative On The Board Game
Meand my mom went to Ross to buy new clothes for me. I said "Can I look at the toys they have."
She said yes. When I went I found a board game. The board game was ten in one, and I thought
WOAH! THAT IS AMAZING! So I quickly ran to my mom and said,"Mom can you buy this for me
I will pay you back once we get home. The board game wasn't immense, but it looked cool. My
mom said "Maybe next time, I don't have enough money right now." "Okay then." I put the board
game back where it was. I was a little upset that I wasn't going to get it. I went back with my mom.
She bought the stuff and we went to the car. In the car my mom said "Maybe next time I can buy it
for you, at home. Once we were home I went straight to my room. I was sad that I wasn't

Impulse: A Quick-Playing Space-Formed Board Game
"Impulse" is a quick–playing space–themed board game for 2–6 players. Although it is rated "E" by
ESRB, it would not be very interesting for children because of quite complex rules. Players take
turns to play. Each turn consists a series of actions that the player need to perform. First one is
adding one action card to the Impulse. The Impulse is a set of cards, which all players can use to do
different thing later in their turn. In the beginning of the game, the Impulse is empty and is filled by
one card in every turn. There can be 3 cards maximum in the Impulse. Personally, I find the Impulse
mechanic pretty interesting, because of that every player contributes into what other players can do.
Second one is using your "tech", which is unlike

Board Game Analysis: Aeroplane Chess
The only one aviation board game I played before the AT 49800 class is Aeroplane Chess (Fei Xing
Qi), it is an interesting board game in my major field. It was a Chinese cross–and–circle board
game, this game player is maximum 4 people and minimum 2 people. Aeroplane Chess is an easy
game, it set up time less than 5 minutes. The Aeroplane Chess game board has 4 starting hangars in
each corner, a track of 52 spaces circumventing the board, 4 home zones, each leading from the
track to the end spaces at the center of the board. The board is evenly divided between the colors
red, yellow, blue and green, these four different color means four different game players, and the
game player should play the pieces from starting hangars to their home zones.

Supply Chain Game Board Game
The object of the game is to meet customer demand for cases of beer through the distribution side of
a multi–stage supply chain with minimal expenditure on back orders and inventory. There are four
stages, manufacturer, distributor, supplier, retailer, with a two–week communication gap of orders
toward the upstream and a two week supply chain delay of product towards the downstream. There
is a one–point cost for holding excess inventory and a one–point cost for any backlog (old backlog +
orders – current inventory). In the board game version, players cannot see anything other than what
is communicated to them through pieces of paper with numbers written on them, signifying orders
or product. The retailer draws from a deck of cards for what ... Show more content on

Suppliers, manufacturers, sales people, and customers have their own, often incomplete,
understanding of what real demand is. Each group has control over only a part of the supply chain,
but each group can influence the entire chain by ordering too much or too little. Further, each group
is influenced by decisions that others are making. This lack of coordination coupled with the ability
to influence while being influenced by others leads to what Stanford's Hau Lee refers to as the
Bullwhip Effect. It refers to the effect that the amount of periodical orders amplifies as one moves
upstream in the supply chain towards the production end. Even in the face of stable customer
demand small variations in demand at the retail end tend to dramatically amplify upstream the
supply chain with the effect that order amounts are very erratic, and can be very high in one week
and almost zero in the next

A New Electronic Board Game
Paul Smith, Roberta and Theo are 3 friends whom want to start a new business based upon their idea
of a new electronic board game, which will be manufactured by the group themselves. Within this
case, I have found many legal issues that must be tackled or understood for the business to run
legally and smoothly.
The first issue found in the case is based around the logo that has been created by Paul for their
business. First, we have to ask if Paul has checked his logo; which can also be known as a
trademark, against New Zealand's list of registered trademarks and if their chosen trademark (name,
brand, logo) is the same or similar to any others registered companies. Secondly, we would need to
see if Paul plans to register the company. Paul could decide not to register the company but still
successfully use their unregistered trademark due to S9 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA), yet a
registered trademark offer's the company better protection and it is strongly advised that companies
register their trade mark under the Trade Mark Act 2002 (TMA). The TMA offers a number of
advantages over the FTA in terms of trademarks. Trademarks are considered under statue law
meaning it can be both criminal and civil law, therefore meaning the company could be sued or face
a large fine if their trademark is similar to another and they continue to use it. This could
misrepresent the original owners of the trademark, which may lead to loss for the particular
company. In this case, the trio

Board Game Vs. Monopoly
What games assigns players a piece that transports them around a neighborhood and gives you cash
every time you pass go? Well Monopoly of course! Why is it so great? Well it involves money! So
what exactly is Monopoly? Well monopoly is having control over a production or service, usually
bringing in tons of money and ultimate power. But the other Monopoly is a board game that family
and friends can play together where you roll two die and move an assigned piece that number
amount of "properties" and can buy them. It's a family game and all that's needed is three or more
players. After two players are bankrupt the game is over. But Monopoly is just a board game, and

* The fixed cost component of developing the product was between $30,000 and $50,000 but
additional $300,000 was needed to finance the first production run. The funds would be needed until
the initial payments from sales arrived a few months later. * He needed initial capital for investment,
which he got from his long term friend Kaplan * Then there was the problem of financing the
accounts receivable. There was the fear that the bills of some of the smaller stores carrying the game
would be difficult to collect since R&R was not having the resources to follow up closely on its
collections. So they decided to use Heller Factoring to check credit, guarantee payment, collect the
money and pay Trivia Inc. all for a fee of 1% over sales. * Kaplan had a vast experience in printing
and his numerous contacts helped them to secure press time and paper supplies in short notice *
Swiss colony solved the problem of shipping for which Reiss was a long time consultant * JIT basis
was used by Trivia Inc. to make all its suppliers send the different components to Swiss Colony
where they would put the boards, dice, and questions in the boxes, package and ship them * Selling
the game was another problem * Mass merchandiser accounted for 70% of market * In order to
overcome the problem of marketing, Reiss launched a four stage marketing plan

Essay on Microeconomics and the Board Game Monopoly
All I ever needed to know about microeconomics I learned from the Hasbro board game Monopoly.
Some people, like myself, need practical models in order to understand certain concepts and
theories. In our text book The Economy Today it completely ignores the intrinsic value of business
decisions because you can't put a numeric value on it. The game Monopoly™ is all about the
numbers. In the game of Monopoly™ you have goals: The object is to bankrupt all opponents. To
do so, you must be dedicated and make each decision with the aim of improving your chances and
wiping out your opponents." (Monopoly) In what I will call throughout the paper real life, the goal
is the same. Look at the excerpt from an ABC New article called The ... Show more content on

Know when to cause a building shortage If you have only low–rent color groups, quickly build three
or four houses per property to restrict the availability of houses to owners of high–rent color groups.
Never move up to a hotel anywhere if the return of houses to the bank would enable an opponent to
develop an expensive color group. (Example: the Yellow group has just been formed. There are only
three houses in the bank, but six hotels. You own the light blues with four houses on each. Do not
buy hotels. Doing so would give the player owning the Yellows an opportunity to build up to hotels
on them.) (Monopoly.com)
By buying up the houses you are creating a barrier to entry. It is a barrier even if your opponent has
the necessary funds to enter. This is because of the basic economic principal of scarce resources, or
as Stephen Slavin calls it in Economics Control over essential resource. (Slavin 541)
The game Monopoly is a prime illustration of scarce resources; that is, "There's a limit to the
amount we can produce in a given time with available resources." (Schiller 9) The property is
limited – Nothing can be done to create more property; you can only build on your

Monopoly Is A Board Game
Monopoly has been known as possibly one of the most known board games of all time. Monopoly is
"a board game in which players try to enrich themselves by developing Atlantic City, New Jersey,
real estate" (Philippe R. Girard). It was "created by Charles Darrow in 1935." The game is meant to
be played with a group of people to make it more enjoyable. Millions of people around the world
know of and play Monopoly. It has evolved over several years and other versions have been created
over several years. Monopoly has been known as one of the best board games ever created because
of the history of the board game, the development, the different versions of the it today, and its
competitors.

Monopoly has developed from the Landlord's Game to Monopoly. The original purpose of was to
"show how Henry George's system of political economy would work in real life" (Dodson). One of
the first versions of the game "featured a path that allowed players to circle the board, in contrast to
the linear–path design used by many games at the time" (Mary Pilon). After Magie made the game,
it become very well liked, so she decided to "make another version and patent it." This new version
had "named streets and other appearance changes" such as a rectangular board (Edward J. Dodson).
A few years later, "by the late 1920s, Magie and the creators changed the design by gathering the
properties into groups, allowing buildings to be added to the locations and increasing the amount of
rent charged based on the number of properties owned." In 1934, Charles B. Darrow, "developed his
own game for public release and used the streets of Atlantic City, New Jersey" (Galley and Briavel).
This was later known as Monopoly. As soon as he created the game, he "offered to sell the board
game to the Parker brothers that same year, but they were not interested. A year later in 1935, they
changed their thoughts and purchased the company" (Matthew Horton). The game was officially
and continues to be owned by the Parker brothers. Monopoly has developed in several different
ways and during this process, different versions of the game have been created.

The Strategic Board Game Strategy
The strategic board game, Diplomacy, focuses on wars, but more importantly the act of negotiating.
The players are responsible for forming strategies by both developing and breaking alliances with
their competitors. The game is set in Europe during World War I with most teams beginning with
similar resources. Each player–team competes as an either Austria–Hungary, Turkey, Italy, England,
France, Russia, or Germany. With at least three home–center game pieces on the board, there are
strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. This involves phases of
negotiation prior to movement of the game piece. There is no factor of luck. The main variable in
the game is each team's ability to convince the others to do what they want. The core game strategy
is negotiation. This board game at times mirrors actual history and educates the players as to the
method by which a world war can happen. Both in the game and in actual life, everyone is envious
of England because of its location and resources as well as having a developed army. Russia
Germany and France are potential threats. Many of the alliances that occurred during World War I
did not actually happen in our game of Diplomacy. There were several shocking twists and turns. In
our game, Italy and Russia stayed rather benign and non–engaging. They moved some pieces out of
their countries; however, they primarily just protected their home countries. Germany, just as in a

Enjoyment is key. Otherwise what's the point of playing board games? Board games bring people
together or tear them apart; sometimes it's both. When playing board games you see another side of
people that you don't usually see. People tend to get frustrated a lot because board games are meant
to be easy, right? Boards games are made to test your mental capability whilst bringing joy. It's not
always about bringing joy they can cause a lot of chaos too.
To enjoy the game, you first need to know how to play the game. Reading the rules multiple times

The battle style is a combination of a board game and a slight variation on color–matching games.
Randomized rolls will propel the player's team, assembled by "unlocking" fighter with in–game
items or in–app purchases, across the board. This is where the player will encounter other fighters,
collectable items, traps, and boss battles. There isn't much substance to the board game, to be honest,
but the levels are relatively short and don't take much time to cross. At the end of each board is a
final boss battle featuring one of many favorite characters of the Dragon Ball Z universe. Once
you've completed a stage you have the choice of redoing it on Hard mode and then Z–Hard, which
opens some alternate paths but is mainly just more of the same.

Analysis Of The Board Game Of Monopoly
When you were young you may have played the board game Monopoly. Monopoly is a game to
learn about wealth through purchasing real estate. Each player chooses a symbol to move about the
playing board while buying and/or trading property title deeds. When the player has a monopoly, all
of the title deeds with the same color, they can then develop the property by purchasing four green
houses which finally, hopefully, becomes one red hotel. Players whose symbol lands on an owned
property must pay the title deed owner rent.
You now want to play this game in real life. The question is how do you purchase your first green
house? Just like in the game of Monopoly there are rules to the game. If you don't know the rules
you can become bankrupt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early purchases may deplete your cash, but you should recoup it as the other players land on the
property.
When investing in real estate buy early. Get in the game. Here too, your cash may be depleted early,
but you should recoup it through the rents you charge. I would also add if I property is no longer
bringing a profit or becoming a money pit, sell it and move on to a more profitable venture.
The goal in the game of Monopoly is to aim for the monopolies by purchasing all the properties
with the same color. If you hold a monopoly you can collect double the rent and increase the value
by purchasing the green houses with the ultimate goal of one red hotel.
In the Real Estate game, you also want to have a monopoly. If you own the property in one area you
can possibly develop it. You have a distinct advantage. You have bargaining power.
Another strategy in the game of Monopoly is to have petty cash on hand. You will want to keep at
least $300.00 cash on hand so you don't take a step backward and forced to sell a house to meet your

French Board Game: Carcassonne Tile
Carcassonne is a smart board game in which players draw and place a tile with a piece of French
landscape on it. It derives its name from Carcassonne, the southern city of French which is famous
for its medieval fortifications. The tile drawn might feature a road, a city, grassland, a cloister, or
some combination thereof. The rule is simple; the tile must be placed adjacent to tiles that have
already been played such that roads are connected to roads, cities to cities, etc.
The game starts with a starting tile and then all other tiles are mixed and placed on a table facing
down. Each player then takes his/her eight selected colors meeples and the game can begin. Each
player will get three actions and then the play goes on to the next player. The actions include placing
a tile, deploying a follower or scoring completed cities, roads or cloisters. It is a great board game
for couples, though it can be played by 2 to 5 players. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will be faced with interesting decisions like whether you should place your tile near your
opponent to give them a hard time to complete their project and score points, or to use it to expand

tile and have the option to place one meeple on it. The skill of a player to develop the area will

The On The Board Game Monopoly
Introduction: The board game Monopoly is played amongst a group of 2–8 players. Each player
roles his or her dice and move around the board landing on properties, railroads, or utilities. The
properties typically raise in value the further along a player moves around the board. The thought of
Boardwalk's value depreciating to Mediterranean Avenue is unheard of in the board game of
Monopoly. However, in the real life game of Monopoly, a major city in America (Detroit, Michigan)
had experienced a catastrophic depreciation in value that ultimately led to the city filing for chapter
9 bankruptcy. This writing assignment will evaluate the components that led to the rise and fall of a
major city in America. First, it is important to examine the components that led to the growth and
prosperity of Detroit, Michigan. The Rise of Detroit: The most significant factor that catapulted
Detroit, Michigan to becoming a prosperous city in America was the mass production of the
automobile in the early 20th century. Three companies encompassed the auto industry in America
and they were Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler. Consequently, the three companies were referred
to as the "Big Three." The "Big Three" established their headquarters, and assemble plants in the
Detroit area. David Littman, Senior Vice President & chief Economist, Comerica Bank (retired)

Speech : ' The Last Move '
The Last Move Silence, my entire world had become nothing more than a quiet, bright, white void
inhabited by only me and my enemy. I had never attempted any activity that required so much
thought and planning in my entire life. In front of me sat the black and white tiles littered with the
tower–like figures I had become so familiar with. Across the monochromatic field sat my opponent,
he was a little older than me, but to my nervous mind he was a sinister sentinel hell–bent on
destroying every plan I could muster. The cold, plastic table that I had been placed at was
surrounded by other hunched over figures all seated in the same uncomfortable, grey, rusty chairs
that creaked and groaned with each little spasm. My mind raced with panic as I desperately tried to
grasp any idea that might save me from defeat.
It was the start of my sixth grade school year and my parents told me that I had to join either a club
or a sport and if I didn't they would pick one for me. Fearing what my parents would choose I
immediately set to work on finding something to do. There were plenty of teams and clubs to join,
but most didn't interest me until I stumbled upon a chess club flyer. Chess club drew my attention
because the flyer mentioned it was a board game and in my younger years board games were my
favorite thing to play with friends and family alike. Right after school, on the same day that I found

Essay about World of Board Games: Forbidden Island
As defined by the creators of the board game, the primary object of Forbidden Island is to, " . . .

While in the classroom, the task at hand was to simply learn how to play Forbidden Island, observe
the game and team members, and gather information to reflect upon. In its descriptive set of game
rules and role descriptions, Forbidden Island establishes specific and definitive norms that team
members should adhere to and expect of one another in order to successfully play the game from
beginning to end – win or lose. I recognized early on in the game that complying with the rules, or
norms, would require a degree of social conformity for compliance on each team member's behalf.
In spite of team members' individual beliefs, values, and attitudes, reaching the end goal and being
able to comprehensively reflect on the Forbidden Island experience was enough of a motivation for
me to conform and comply with the norms defined by the game. Regretfully, the others members in
the team did not agree that social conformity for compliance would be a step towards successful
completion of the game. Needless to say, I was shocked to learn that the other team members had
been influenced by groupthink to continue playing Forbidden Island according to their own revised
version of the game's rules.

The Subculture Of Board Game
People have always develop ways to pass time or enjoy their everyday activates. There have been
puzzles, books, and television invented to help with this process. The need to "have something to
do" has fueled the creation of games. The most popular games today are videogames which have
millions of people logging on each day to play with others. Videogames have created a culture of
their own, but they were not the original type of gaming recreation. Board games have been
bringing their played into fantasy worlds long before the popularization of videogames. This has
spark my interest to understand the subculture of board game players in today's society. I have
selected a local board gaming site to conduct my field research for my ethnographic study. My
primary location or this research will be at Tucson Games and Gadgets where I will try to minimize
any preconceptions I may currently have, and utilize key informants to get an overall picture of the
culture. First I had to choose the best location from various gaming locations in the Tucson area.
Tucson Games and Gadgets was clearly the most viable option to choose after I had visited the
location first hand. This location was conveniently located in the heart of Tucson which gives me
great ease of access almost on a daily basis. When first arriving at this location I noticed that the
parking lot was already full. For a Monday evening this was a good sign that this location could
provide enough opportunities to observe many

The First Board Game Was Patented By Elizabeth Magie
The first board game was patented by Elizabeth Magie. Today it is known as Monopoly, but did you
know that it dates back to the early days of the 1900s and was actually known as "The Land Lords

is hard to know which one are going to be able to challenge a child 's mind but yet be able to give

Alfred Mosher Butts was the first person to invent Scrabble during the great depression of the 1930
's. It was initially named Lexico, and also called Criss Cross. It was not made with a board
incorporated to start off with, but played without any type of board. He studied the use of words,
and discovered how certain letters were used more often than other letters. He then proceeded to put
scores on each letter, and the first board was made of paper. At first the game didn 't sell very well,
but James Brunot popularized the game when he took an interest, in 1947. Burnot took over the
making of the game, and managed to sell about 2000 sets in his first year of production. The board
was originally made from paper, and written on with pen. Eventually, the tiles were made from
wood with the letters engraved on them. However, people began to cheat as they were able to feel
the letters they were picking out, so the letters were changed to plastic material instead. The game
didn 't really have much sales until 1952 when the owner of Macy 's decided to invest in the sales of
the game. He had played Scrabble while on vacation, and thought it would be good for his business
to sell the game in his stores. Shortly after, other toy stores began stocking the game, and did very
well with the sales. The game cost $3 to buy during the 50 's, and a deluxe version was on sale for
$10. Richard Nixon and the Queen

The Strategic Board Game Diplomacy
The strategic board game Diplomacy focuses on wars, but more importantly the act of negotiating.
The players are responsible for forming strategies by both developing and breaking alliances with
their competitors. The game is set in Europe during World War I with most teams beginning with
similar resources. Each player competes as an either Austria–Hungary, Turkey, Italy, England,
France, Russia, or Germany. With at least three home center game pieces on the board, there are
strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. This involves phases of
negotiation prior to movement of game piece. There is no factor of luck. The main variable in the
game is each team's ability to convince the others to do what they want. The core game strategy is
negotiation.
In the game and actual life all are envious of England because of its location and resources as well
as its well–developed army. Russia Germany and France are potential threats. Realizing that
England has to prevent Germany from joining with France due how is the game diplomacy
unrealistic to their potential. I believe that many of the alliances that occurred during World War I
did not actually happen in our game of Diplomacy. There several shocking twists and turns. In our
game, Italy and Russia stayed rather benign and non–engaging. They moved some pieces out of
their countries; however, they primarily just protected their home country. Germany, similar to a real
life map, is strategically

Playing Board Game Research Paper
My passion is playing board games and games of strategy. Sometimes, I am trying to conquer the
world and play against everyone. Other times I am trying to save the world with everyone else in a
cooperative game. Playing board games started with my family, and I have played ever since. I was
in the chess club in elementary school. That started my love for strategies and thinking ahead. I was
challenged, and even stayed after school for it; I am thankful that I was a part of the club. Also, I
would bring in games to play on fun Fridays in elementary school. I loved everything, from Hungry
Hungry Hippos to Racko.

and multiple ways to see everything play out. A systems engineer needs to know how all the
different parts work together and individually. These games run simulations of real world events,
and users can strategize in them as I would do in reality.
Every day I plan and strategize my day just like in board games. I use the skills that are used in the
games in daily tasks and short and long term goals. I do not use the skills learned in Risk to conquer
the world, but I do use those skills to plan ahead and know what my best moves and actions are.
(The game also teaches that some battles are better not fought!) In games, I am sometimes faced
with building up my army, or attacking others. In real life, I have to know when to build up my
knowledge and study, or attack my conscience and just watch a movie.
In another game, Forbidden Desert, I am sometimes a water carrier. I am the only one that can give

An Analysis Of The Dominion Board Game Essay
An Analysis of the Dominion Board Game
Dominion is a deck building game playable by 2–4 players that will take approximately half an
hour. Players compete against each other in a multilateral competition where the player with the
most victory points at the end of the game wins.
The game begins with ten (usually random) piles of resource cards being laid on the playing
area/table, along with the treasure, victory and other various cards. Each player is given an initial 10
cards as their starting deck (a.k.a. their 'Dominion') and they each draw 5 cards as their starting
hand. They then take turns playing cards from their hands according to the cards instructions, and
acquiring new cards from the piles in the middle while trying to improve their dominion. Each turn
players draw 5 more cards and once their deck gets depleted they re–shuffle their discarded cards
back into it. The game ends after any 3 piles of resource cards have been depleted or when the
province victory cards have been depleted. The core gameplay revolves around each player using
cards in their hands that they have drawn from their deck to acquire additional resources, sabotage
other players or bring the game closer to the end (or a combination of these). The games core
mechanic is building (it is a deck–building game after all) since you spend the whole game growing
and expanding your deck. Dominion also features emergent gameplay, since although most of
Dominions cards have very basic rules (such as 'Draw

BINGO Board Game Analysis
The objective of the first interactive learning activity is to promote a deeper understanding of the
core tenets of the Constitution. This can be accomplished by playing a BINGO board game. The
prepared BINGO cards will contain a total of twenty–five squares with five rows going across and
five rows going down. Three BINGO cards will be distributed to parents containing the key tenets
written on the inside of each of the squares. Some of the tenets will be duplicated inside the squares
while other squares will contain a blank space. The parents will also receive a small packet of
colored chips to use as a marker for the squares.
A list of questions regarding each of the core tenets will begin the BINGO game. The speaker will
read one question relating to the core tenets. Parents will raise his or her hand to answer the
question. The presenter will continue to call on parents until a correct response has been given. The
parents will place a colored chip on the square if the correct answer is written inside the square.
There will be more questions asked than the number of squares on the BINGO cards. The winner of
the game must have colored chips in all squares going across, ... Show more content on

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Board Games
2.6 The Disadvantages of Board Game
According to Dewar (2009, p. 15), there are many disadvantages of using board game in the
classroom. Firstly, most people play with house rules. Each board game has its own set of rules. So,
while playing students would probably use the old or normal rules to play that cause the game to last
much longer than it should be. Secondly, in board games they have player elimination. Meaning that
players who lost or are unlucky can get kicked out of the game early. Thirdly, playing board games
is too dependent on luck. Players will just have to roll dice and the number that face upwards
decides how many steps they players should go. That might lead to winning or losing of the game.
Nextly, board games doesn't scale well to the number of players. Four players seem to be ideal but it
is impossible for teachers to prepare 10 same board games for a class of 40 students. Besides that,
another disadvantage of board game is that players takes too long and 2 players is completely
pointless. This is because if 2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since we are in the era full of technologies and electronic devices, it is possible for some students to
not know what is a board game. Secondly, teacher should try to attract the students' understanding
about board games. Teacher can introduce the board game that she has prepared. Teacher should
briefly explain the steps of how to play the board game that she created. Next, teacher should tell the
rules and regulations of playing the board game. While board games has winning and losing, teacher
should emphasize and explain the rules in detail so that there will not be any fights or
misunderstanding while students are playing the board game. When the students are playing, teacher
should monitor and make sure that students speak during their turn. Teachers should always
emphasize that making mistakes while speaking is better than they never speak at

The Journey To Egypt was the title of my board game. This board games uses various parts of the

interactive and mind games help improve your memory, thinking, reaction time, and cognitive
ability which helps keep your brain power nice and strong as you grow. How do you play the game?

Games like "The Journey To Egypt" help kids learn and grow because of the proven functions of the
parts of the brain. The cerebral cortex contains the left and right hemispheres. The cerebral cortex
functions activated when playing the game are "analyzing sensory data, performing memory
functions, learning new information, and forming thoughts and make decisions" (Quizlet). These are
activated through testing actions like jumping, rubbing your belly and patting your head from the
action cars. As well as learning new information from questions about Egypt that you have not yet
learned which can lead to forming thoughts, making decisions, and analyzing sensory data. The
temporal lobe functions activated from the game are retrieving information, auditory reception, and
receptive speech. These are activated when landing on the yellow star spot on the game board and
having to listen to the word you are suppose to spell and using speech to answer the question. The
basal ganglia and cerebellum are activated in the game by using automatic memorized movements

Game Board Game Essay
Tired of games with vicious competition? Looking for a cooperative board game for 2–4 players?
Want to save the world from the ravages of disease? The game for you is Pandemic, by Z–man
games. In this board game, players work together to cure and eradicate four diseases, one in each of
the major areas of the world: North America/Europe, South America/Africa, the Middle East, and
Southeast Asia/Australia. The board is a map of the world with major cities marked. The diseases
are designated by small colored cubes. The players serve in different roles, chosen at random:
Dispatcher, Medic, Scientist, Researcher, and Operations Expert. Each role has a rule that slightly
changes the game for that character. For example, the Medic can remove more disease markers from
a city than the other players can. The Operations Expert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diseases are cured by collecting cards with the same colors as the disease and turning them in when
a player is at a research station. Players work together by planning actions as a group and talking
about which player will go to which area of the board. As part of each player's turn, the player must
also draw cards spreading disease. These cards represent cities. When a card is drawn, a disease
cube is placed on that city. When a city is to receive its fourth disease cube, an outbreak occurs and
the disease spreads to every adjacent city. Players win Pandemic when all four diseases are cured.
Players lose when there are no more cubes of a color to place on the board when one is needed, no
more cards to draw when one is needed, or there have been eight outbreaks. Pandemic is truly
cooperative, a nice change from competitive play. It can also be very exciting, with players racing
against the diseases as they spread throughout the world. The game is recommended for ages 10 and
up, but I think slightly younger children could also understand and enjoy Pandemic. With four
players, the game is difficult and hard to win; with two players it is much

Monopoly Board Game
When I think of square one, I think about board games like Monopoly. In Monopoly, square one is
the very beginning; it's the starting block on the board. All the players take a turn and after a few
rounds, everyone makes it back to the starting block called "Go", or passes it to go around the board
again. Technically, all the players have gone back to square one, haven't they? While they might
have gotten to "Go" again, it's not the beginning anymore. By the time the players return to "Go",
they've already bought properties and either lost or gained money. Even if they land back on the
original starting block of "Go" again, it's not the beginning because the players have gained the
experience of one round of the game. They have knowledge of

Board Game Balance Essay
Year published was 2003 and designed by Nicole Johnschwager, Dale Pillars and Nathan Ruff.
There's not a lot of information about this game online or even in the instructions. it's fairly new
when it comes to board games and in my opinion not very well known.
Balance
This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen
by the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each
other. For example, you have teams of two people. You could either have people who've known
each other for years or people who have only just met and this would decide how well either team
would do. I find this quite abstract and out of the box in terms of balancing but it can also make the

I'm not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it's designed with the
intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing
about this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams
slightly and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something
new about the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after
a lot of paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you
know the answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves
could think of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more
question in the game that haven't been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for
people who have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses
their teams answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their
answer. if they get it right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the
dice and get to start their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount
of spaces. the reason I say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk.
this would give players more incentive to try guess rather

The Parker Brothers Monopoly Board Game
Monopoly Monopoly is a board game that was first published by the Parker Brothers, an American
toy and game manufacturer, in 1935. Known also as "The Fast–Dealing Property Trading Game,"
Monopoly is a game about owning the most properties, having the most money, and defeating your
competition by leading them to declare bankruptcy. Monopoly allows you to do this through
different opportunities of charging rent for the properties you own when another player lands on
your space, building "houses" and "hotels" to increase the rent price of your properties, and by
picking up or losing extra money through the "chance" and "community chest" spaces on the board.
The game revolves around the idea of a monopoly, which is when a market is exclusively ... Show

If you are looking for a quick and fun game to play, it is best that you steer away from Monopoly.
The game play starts out with everyone slowly buying properties and collecting full property sets
that you must have to be able to build your houses and hotels on. This process can be made
especially longer when house rules are added. House rules are unofficial game rules that many
people add when playing the game. Some house rules can include the rule of not being able to buy
any properties until you have taken a full turn around the board and depending on how high you
roll, this can be very time consuming. Another downside of the game is how players can be easily
eliminated early in the game. If an unexperienced Monopoly player begins the game by buying
everything they land on and spending their money without strategizing properly, they will easily go
bankrupt and be left to watch the other players for a few hours until the game is over. Lastly, another
weakness that the Monopoly board game has is how your success in the game is highly based on
luck. After all the initial buying, trading, and building, it is left up to how lucky you are to have
people land on your properties. At this point in the game, it is just a matter of a few unlucky rolls
until people start going

Monopoly: Board Game Analysis
B. Monopoly is a board game that originated in the United States in 1903 as a means of
demonstrating that an economy which rewards wealth creation is better than one in which
monopolists work under few constraints. Although the board game is an exaggerated version of how
monopolists operate in our present–day economy, there are various lessons that can be taken away
from this experience. First, a lesson I learned was that owning properties on the red and orange
sections of the board were the most beneficial because the probability of landing on those areas is
very high. Because of this, those select properties will have a great chance of earning a profit.
Second, the board game taught me that buying both utilities (Electric Company and Waterworks)
and/or owning all, or much of, railroads, is very helpful towards earning the most ... Show more

My reasoning behind this is that properties will not yield as much of a return as the utilities and the
railroads, and that properties are much more abundant and common that utilities and railroads.
Later, I started buying some properties on the red and orange sections of the board, as they seemed
to be the most commonly landed areas on the entire board. I also relied on luck, such as landing on
"Free Parking", and pulling a "Chance" and "Community Chest" card that would be helpful to me. If
I were to play the game again, I would try to start building three houses on my properties as quickly
as possible, which would ultimately cause a housing shortage. This would end up restricting the
availability of houses to owners of high rent colour groups. I would have also tried to buy all my
properties as soon as possible, as I did not realize how long the game can extend for. I ended up
coming in 1st place in my group, as I had the most cash and both utilities, among having a handful

According to the number on the dice, players move either 1–6 spaces. If they land on a normal
square, they read the writing on the space aloud before obeying the instructions, whether it tells
them to lose or gain points or miss their next turn. If they land on a fortune square, (the large
squares in the corner) they pick up a fortune card, read the quote aloud and then flip it, where the
fortune is. If the background is red, that will mean that you just picked up a good fortune card, but if
it is green it will be bad. Then the player follows the instructions on it, alike to the normal squares
where it might be gaining or loss of points. If the player gains points, and if that means their total
equals five they can place a button on one of the dots leading up to the centre. If not, they simply
mark another point on their tally sheet, which is included in the game. If they lose a point and that
means that their total is no longer five but instead four, they take off their counter and mark on the
tally sheet their amount of points.
Order of turns: The game begins with the player who has rolled the highest amount on the dice.
They move off their fortune square and onto another square. Once all players have moved off of
their starting squares, the fortune squares are in play.

Board Games: Suburbia Board Games
Suburbia
Players: 1–4
Time: 90–120 minutes
Theming
Suburbia, as the name suggests, is an urban development game. Players compete to develop their
suburb into a thriving metropolis, balancing their income and reputation to achieve success. It's
often described as feeling like a board game version of SimCity, so if you enjoyed that game (or
perhaps even that old real–estate themed classic, Monopoly) then you ought to like Suburbia. It's
designed by Ted Alspach and published by Bezier games. There's not a big emphasis on attractive
art, but it's a good choice when it comes to board games for couples who enjoy detailed planning
and building an economy.
Overview of the game
Suburbia uses a clever tile–laying mechanic. Each player begins with ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
As each player is building a separate suburb of the same city, your tile score can interact with tiles in
the other player's suburbs, too, so you have to keep an eye on what everyone else is doing!
Why it's fun to play as a couple
Suburbia is a clever game with interesting tactical decisions. There's plenty of player interaction and
a degree of competition – will the other person pick that one tile you really need?! It's a good pick
for board games to play with your girlfriend or partner if you're both familiar with Euro–style games
and enjoy carefully built–up strategy.
Suburbia scales well for two players and rates pretty highly for re–playability too, as only a subset
of the tiles is used each time you play so each game can feel quite different. The randomly generated
scoring conditions also add to the variation.
Any downsides?
There's a fair bit of calculation involved in each turn. If you've played the game Power Grid, it feels
somewhat similar in this respect. It's fairly complex and probably not a top choice for those who are
looking for a 'gateway' game. That being said, it's reasonably simple to grasp the basics of gameplay
and is well–paced without too much

Group Evaluation Board Games

  • 1. Group Evaluation Board Games Group Evaluation/Board Games Game Title: This Way to Court Topic: Judicial Branch, Civil Liberties, and Civil Rights Group Members & Responsibilities/Work (What was each person responsible for/what did they do? Include yourself.) Name: Lindsay Josephs. I was responsible for creating approximately forty–five percent of the questions, providing the colorful index cards to write the questions on, and for writing all of our group's questions and answers on the index cards. I typed up my questions about the judicial branch, civil liberties, and civil rights in our shared Google Document, the answers to these questions, and then wrote down all of our group's questions and answers on colorful index cards. Name: Lisa Kwok. Lisa was responsible for creating approximately forty–five percent of the questions, providing the game pieces, and for creating the final version of the game's instructions. Lisa added her questions and answers about all three topics onto our shared Google Document and created the final version of the game's procedure. Name: Emily Reinoso. Emily was responsible for creating ten of the questions we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We each completed different aspects of the project which highlighted our creative and intellectual strengths. For example, Emily is very artistic. Therefore, Emily utilized her artistic skills and drew and decorated the game board. Although each member focused on different aspects of the project which highlighted her strengths, we all worked together and did not leave one person doing all of the work. Lisa and I spoke with Emily about the design of the game and we all shared ideas about how the board should look and which elements of famous board games should be incorporated into our project. All group members also brainstormed about what the game's instructions should be and which elements of other famous board games our game should be based off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. I Am Post A Review Today Of A Board Game I thought I'd post a review today of a board game that I bought for my kids this last Christmas. Yes, I'm aware that was 5 months ago, but it's honestly taken me this long to decide whether I love or hate it. My family, including my 8yo and my 7yo, really enjoys playing Settlers of Catan, so when I found out there was a version based on the building of the transcontinental railroad in the United States, my little homeschooling heart just about burst. The game, Catan Histories: Trails to Rails, is around the $50 mark, so I hesitated... a lot. I finally caved over the holidays because... learning and Catan and awesomeness awaited us if I could just fork over the cash. SPECS: The box says this game is for ages 12+, 3–4 players, and that the game takes about 2 hours. In comparison, the original Settlers of Catan game says it's for players ages 10+, 3–4 players (but you can buy expansions for more players), and that the game takes about an hour. REALITY: We've played the original game with my younger kids without issue. The concepts are not too hard for them to understand, but I've never met a Catan game that "only" lasted an hour. Ever. It usually takes us 2–3 hours, even when it's all adults playing and no kids. Basically, I don't believe a word on the box. Trails to Rails is actually more accurate on the box, but I still don't think a game could be completed in 2 hours. The 12+ age range is probably a good suggestion, but you know your own kids. It could be fun for a child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Board Game Research Paper Board Games: Although it may sound strange now, owning board games used to be considered a symbol of wealth. Until recently, people didn't have the free time to sit and play a game – they were too busy working or farming. Only the wealthy had time to sit around and socialize. Board games were not the mass produced cardboard and plastic toys we buy today. They were often handmade and contained intricate designs. Black Teeth: In ancient Japan, having black teeth was seen as a sign of wealth. The well–off would paint black laquer onto the teeth to try and prevent tooth decay. It must have had some sort of effect because the phenomena appeared in two different periods of Japanese history. Pineapples: Perhaps unsurprisingly, pineapples were ... • 4. BINGO Board Game: Core Tenets Of The Constitution The object of the first interactive learning activity is to promote a deeper understanding of the core tenets of the Constitution. This can be accomplished by playing a BINGO board game. The prepared BINGO sheets will contain a total of twenty–five squares with five rows going across and five rows going down. Three BINGO sheets will be distributed to parents with the key terms listed in the PowerPoint slides as checks and balances, federalism, judicial review, limited government, popular sovereignty, separation of power, United States Constitution, Supreme Court, Bill of Rights, Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and Judicial Branch printed inside each of the squares. Some of the terms will be duplicated and some squares may contain a free space. The parents will also receive a small packet of colored chips to use as a marker for the BINGO squares. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker will read one question relating to these core tenets. Parents will raise his or her hand to answer the question. The presenter will continue to call on a parent to answer the question until a correct response is given. The parents will place a colored chip on the grid if they have the correct answer on their grid. There will be more questions asked than squares listed on the BINGO cards. The winner of the game must have colored chips in all squares filled either across, diagonal, or in each of the four corners of the BINGO card. When a parent fills the required squares they say BINGO. To ensure fairness, a BINGO answer sheet will be placed on a screen so parents check his or her BINGO sheet for accuracy. Mock ... • 5. Game Analysis: XO Number Board Game The game that I am introducing is called XO Number Board Game. In order for this game to begin you need a piece of paper and you must label it from one to whatever number you're going up to. In this game there are two players, X and O. X is the first person that gets to move which is either to space one, two, or three. Then O gets to move next from the spot that x went to. For example: If X moves one space then he will be at space one. Then O gets to decide where to go and he can either choose two, three, or four. The goal of this game is to reach the last number on the board. The first game goes up to thirteen. If you want to win you must first start off at one! Then the second player can go to either two, three, or four. The next step would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Personal Narrative On The Board Game Meand my mom went to Ross to buy new clothes for me. I said "Can I look at the toys they have." She said yes. When I went I found a board game. The board game was ten in one, and I thought WOAH! THAT IS AMAZING! So I quickly ran to my mom and said,"Mom can you buy this for me I will pay you back once we get home. The board game wasn't immense, but it looked cool. My mom said "Maybe next time, I don't have enough money right now." "Okay then." I put the board game back where it was. I was a little upset that I wasn't going to get it. I went back with my mom. She bought the stuff and we went to the car. In the car my mom said "Maybe next time I can buy it for you, at home. • 7. Impulse: A Quick-Playing Space-Formed Board Game "Impulse" is a quick–playing space–themed board game for 2–6 players. Although it is rated "E" by ESRB, it would not be very interesting for children because of quite complex rules. Players take turns to play. Each turn consists a series of actions that the player need to perform. First one is adding one action card to the Impulse. The Impulse is a set of cards, which all players can use to do different thing later in their turn. In the beginning of the game, the Impulse is empty and is filled by one card in every turn. There can be 3 cards maximum in the Impulse. Personally, I find the Impulse mechanic pretty interesting, because of that every player contributes into what other players can do. Second one is using your "tech", which is unlike ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Board Game Analysis: Aeroplane Chess The only one aviation board game I played before the AT 49800 class is Aeroplane Chess (Fei Xing Qi), it is an interesting board game in my major field. It was a Chinese cross–and–circle board game, this game player is maximum 4 people and minimum 2 people. Aeroplane Chess is an easy game, it set up time less than 5 minutes. The Aeroplane Chess game board has 4 starting hangars in each corner, a track of 52 spaces circumventing the board, 4 home zones, each leading from the track to the end spaces at the center of the board. The board is evenly divided between the colors red, yellow, blue and green, these four different color means four different game players, and the game player should play the pieces from starting hangars to their home zones. ... • 9. Supply Chain Game Board Game The object of the game is to meet customer demand for cases of beer through the distribution side of a multi–stage supply chain with minimal expenditure on back orders and inventory. There are four stages, manufacturer, distributor, supplier, retailer, with a two–week communication gap of orders toward the upstream and a two week supply chain delay of product towards the downstream. There is a one–point cost for holding excess inventory and a one–point cost for any backlog (old backlog + orders – current inventory). In the board game version, players cannot see anything other than what is communicated to them through pieces of paper with numbers written on them, signifying orders or product. The retailer draws from a deck of cards for what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suppliers, manufacturers, sales people, and customers have their own, often incomplete, understanding of what real demand is. Each group has control over only a part of the supply chain, but each group can influence the entire chain by ordering too much or too little. Further, each group is influenced by decisions that others are making. This lack of coordination coupled with the ability to influence while being influenced by others leads to what Stanford's Hau Lee refers to as the Bullwhip Effect. It refers to the effect that the amount of periodical orders amplifies as one moves upstream in the supply chain towards the production end. Even in the face of stable customer demand small variations in demand at the retail end tend to dramatically amplify upstream the supply chain with the effect that order amounts are very erratic, and can be very high in one week and almost zero in the next ... • 10. A New Electronic Board Game Paul Smith, Roberta and Theo are 3 friends whom want to start a new business based upon their idea of a new electronic board game, which will be manufactured by the group themselves. Within this case, I have found many legal issues that must be tackled or understood for the business to run legally and smoothly. The first issue found in the case is based around the logo that has been created by Paul for their business. First, we have to ask if Paul has checked his logo; which can also be known as a trademark, against New Zealand's list of registered trademarks and if their chosen trademark (name, brand, logo) is the same or similar to any others registered companies. Secondly, we would need to see if Paul plans to register the company. Paul could decide not to register the company but still successfully use their unregistered trademark due to S9 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA), yet a registered trademark offer's the company better protection and it is strongly advised that companies register their trade mark under the Trade Mark Act 2002 (TMA). The TMA offers a number of advantages over the FTA in terms of trademarks. Trademarks are considered under statue law meaning it can be both criminal and civil law, therefore meaning the company could be sued or face a large fine if their trademark is similar to another and they continue to use it. This could misrepresent the original owners of the trademark, which may lead to loss for the particular company. In this case, the trio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well it involves money! So what exactly is Monopoly? Well monopoly is having control over a production or service, usually bringing in tons of money and ultimate power. But the other Monopoly is a board game that family and friends can play together where you roll two die and move an assigned piece that number amount of "properties" and can buy them. • 12. What Factors Created An Opportunity For Bob Reiss & The Tv... What factors created an opportunity for Bob Reiss & the TV Guide game? The following are the factors that created an opportunity for Bob Reiss and TV Guide game: * Having a prior work experience in the games industry working as a consultant he had the ability to understand the nuances of the business * With his capabilities, he had increased the sales upto $12000000 within three years * He could easily foresee the rise of Trivial Pursuit in Canada and its potential market and thus success in the US market (US market had approx 10 times the sales of Canada) * TV guide thought of involving themselves because of the monetary gain that the venture assured and supported the idea of working with a small company instead of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... * The fixed cost component of developing the product was between $30,000 and $50,000 but additional $300,000 was needed to finance the first production run. The funds would be needed until the initial payments from sales arrived a few months later. * He needed initial capital for investment, which he got from his long term friend Kaplan * Then there was the problem of financing the accounts receivable. There was the fear that the bills of some of the smaller stores carrying the game would be difficult to collect since R&R was not having the resources to follow up closely on its collections. So they decided to use Heller Factoring to check credit, guarantee payment, collect the money and pay Trivia Inc. all for a fee of 1% over sales. * Kaplan had a vast experience in printing and his numerous contacts helped them to secure press time and paper supplies in short notice * Swiss colony solved the problem of shipping for which Reiss was a long time consultant * JIT basis was used by Trivia Inc. to make all its suppliers send the different components to Swiss Colony where they would put the boards, dice, and questions in the boxes, package and ship them * Selling the game was another problem * Mass merchandiser accounted for 70% of market * In order to overcome the problem of marketing, Reiss launched a four stage marketing plan 3) Would this approach have worked for Parker ... Some people, like myself, need practical models in order to understand certain concepts and theories. In our text book The Economy Today it completely ignores the intrinsic value of business decisions because you can't put a numeric value on it. The game Monopoly™ is all about the numbers. In the game of Monopoly™ you have goals: The object is to bankrupt all opponents. To do so, you must be dedicated and make each decision with the aim of improving your chances and wiping out your opponents." • 28. An Analysis Of The Dominion Board Game Essay An Analysis of the Dominion Board Game Dominion is a deck building game playable by 2–4 players that will take approximately half an hour. Players compete against each other in a multilateral competition where the player with the most victory points at the end of the game wins. The game begins with ten (usually random) piles of resource cards being laid on the playing area/table, along with the treasure, victory and other various cards. Each player is given an initial 10 cards as their starting deck (a.k.a. their 'Dominion') and they each draw 5 cards as their starting hand. They then take turns playing cards from their hands according to the cards instructions, and acquiring new cards from the piles in the middle while trying to improve their dominion. Each turn players draw 5 more cards and once their deck gets depleted they re–shuffle their discarded cards back into it. The game ends after any 3 piles of resource cards have been depleted or when the province victory cards have been depleted. The core gameplay revolves around each player using cards in their hands that they have drawn from their deck to acquire additional resources, sabotage other players or bring the game closer to the end (or a combination of these). I'm not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it's designed with the intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing about this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams slightly and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something new about the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after a lot of paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you know the answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves could think of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more question in the game that haven't been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for people who have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players more incentive to try guess rather ... • 35. The Parker Brothers Monopoly Board Game Monopoly Monopoly is a board game that was first published by the Parker Brothers, an American toy and game manufacturer, in 1935. Known also as "The Fast–Dealing Property Trading Game," Monopoly is a game about owning the most properties, having the most money, and defeating your competition by leading them to declare bankruptcy. Monopoly allows you to do this through different opportunities of charging rent for the properties you own when another player lands on your space, building "houses" and "hotels" to increase the rent price of your properties, and by picking up or losing extra money through the "chance" and "community chest" spaces on the board. The game revolves around the idea of a monopoly, which is when a market is exclusively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are looking for a quick and fun game to play, it is best that you steer away from Monopoly. The game play starts out with everyone slowly buying properties and collecting full property sets that you must have to be able to build your houses and hotels on. This process can be made especially longer when house rules are added. House rules are unofficial game rules that many people add when playing the game. Some house rules can include the rule of not being able to buy any properties until you have taken a full turn around the board and depending on how high you roll, this can be very time consuming. Another downside of the game is how players can be easily eliminated early in the game. If an unexperienced Monopoly player begins the game by buying everything they land on and spending their money without strategizing properly, they will easily go bankrupt and be left to watch the other players for a few hours until the game is over. Lastly, another weakness that the Monopoly board game has is how your success in the game is highly based on luck. After all the initial buying, trading, and building, it is left up to how lucky you are to have people land on your properties. At this point in the game, it is just a matter of a few unlucky rolls until people start going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Monopoly: Board Game Analysis B. Monopoly is a board game that originated in the United States in 1903 as a means of demonstrating that an economy which rewards wealth creation is better than one in which monopolists work under few constraints. Although the board game is an exaggerated version of how monopolists operate in our present–day economy, there are various lessons that can be taken away from this experience. First, a lesson I learned was that owning properties on the red and orange sections of the board were the most beneficial because the probability of landing on those areas is very high. Because of this, those select properties will have a great chance of earning a profit. Second, the board game taught me that buying both utilities (Electric Company and Waterworks) and/or owning all, or much of, railroads, is very helpful towards earning the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My reasoning behind this is that properties will not yield as much of a return as the utilities and the railroads, and that properties are much more abundant and common that utilities and railroads. Later, I started buying some properties on the red and orange sections of the board, as they seemed to be the most commonly landed areas on the entire board. I also relied on luck, such as landing on "Free Parking", and pulling a "Chance" and "Community Chest" card that would be helpful to me. If I were to play the game again, I would try to start building three houses on my properties as quickly as possible, which would ultimately cause a housing shortage. This would end up restricting the availability of houses to owners of high rent colour groups. I would have also tried to buy all my properties as soon as possible, as I did not realize how long the game can extend for. I ended up coming in 1st place in my group, as I had the most cash and both utilities, among having a handful of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chinese Cinderell The Board Game Chinese Cinderella: The Board Game Aim: To get the most points in the shortest amount of time Players: Four, two good and two bad Age: 7+ Length: On average 30 minutes or ends when the first person reaches the centre of the board. Summary: The Chinese Cinderella, published in 1999 is an autobiography of Adeline Yen Mah, the 'unwanted daughter' as quoted on the cover. It is about how Adeline was blamed for the death of her mother, and how she eventually triumphed over her struggles and despair as her family and schools shunned her. After Nai Nai died and Adeline was moved away from her friends several times, she came to settle in a boarding school where she wins a global writing competition. She then returns home and convinces her father to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the number on the dice, players move either 1–6 spaces. If they land on a normal square, they read the writing on the space aloud before obeying the instructions, whether it tells them to lose or gain points or miss their next turn. If they land on a fortune square, (the large squares in the corner) they pick up a fortune card, read the quote aloud and then flip it, where the fortune is. If the background is red, that will mean that you just picked up a good fortune card, but if it is green it will be bad. Then the player follows the instructions on it, alike to the normal squares where it might be gaining or loss of points. If the player gains points, and if that means their total equals five they can place a button on one of the dots leading up to the centre. If not, they simply mark another point on their tally sheet, which is included in the game. If they lose a point and that means that their total is no longer five but instead four, they take off their counter and mark on the tally sheet their amount of points. Order of turns: The game begins with the player who has rolled the highest amount on the dice. They move off their fortune square and onto another square. Once all players have moved off of their starting squares, the fortune squares are in play. Ending the game: The game comes to a close when one player has reached the centre of the board, with 20 points and 4 counters. However, you can play off for second, third and fourth ... • 39. Board Games: Suburbia Board Games Suburbia Players: 1–4 Time: 90–120 minutes Theming Suburbia, as the name suggests, is an urban development game. Players compete to develop their suburb into a thriving metropolis, balancing their income and reputation to achieve success. It's often described as feeling like a board game version of SimCity, so if you enjoyed that game (or perhaps even that old real–estate themed classic, Monopoly) then you ought to like Suburbia. It's designed by Ted Alspach and published by Bezier games. There's not a big emphasis on attractive art, but it's a good choice when it comes to board games for couples who enjoy detailed planning and building an economy. Overview of the game Suburbia uses a clever tile–laying mechanic. Each player begins with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As each player is building a separate suburb of the same city, your tile score can interact with tiles in the other player's suburbs, too, so you have to keep an eye on what everyone else is doing! Why it's fun to play as a couple Suburbia is a clever game with interesting tactical decisions. There's plenty of player interaction and a degree of competition – will the other person pick that one tile you really need?! It's a good pick for board games to play with your girlfriend or partner if you're both familiar with Euro–style games and enjoy carefully built–up strategy. Suburbia scales well for two players and rates pretty highly for re–playability too, as only a subset of the tiles is used each time you play so each game can feel quite different. The randomly generated scoring conditions also add to the variation. Any downsides?
