Within 25 years:
• The performance of the artificial eyes exceed human eye, it can
project the images generated from the new 6G android technology
directly within the visual filed making screens obsolete. People will
start to replace healthy eyes in order to improve the performance of
their vision, this will be the first of a long list that will eventually lead
to a complete replacement of our body.

Earth's protective ozone layer.

Antarctica. It showed how climate and CO2
concentration changed through a period of

• 1958, David Keeling had the idea to measure CO2 concentration in the
atmosphere with good accuracy. In 1960, with only two full years of data
in hand, Keeling reported that the level was rising fast. Publishing the
famous Keeling curve.

tropical forests, the richest in biodiversity.
The last 50 years:
• Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium called
nutrients have been heavily used as fertilizers
making entire stretches of ocean dead due to
lack of oxygen called “dead zones”.
The last 50 years:
• By the end of the century biodiversity in hugely reduced with reference
to the 1970. The biggest loss is in freshwater and marine life.
The last 50 years:
• By 2004 the current rate of animal species extinction is recognized as a
mass extinction and named as “Permian Extinction” as the sixth on the
great mass extinctions occurred on our planet. After the impact event
that killed the dinosaurs 60 million years ago the current extinction is
the fastest killer and it is by the hands of humanity.

• The 20th century saw tiger numbers plunge by over 95% worldwide. By
1970, they disappeared from Central Asia, by 1980 from Java and by
1990 from South China. Three of the nine subspecies, Bali, Javan and
Caspian tigers, were extinct by the 1980 and by 2010 India, once a
stronghold for these animals, had less than 800 left in the wild.

rare species are extinct including the Orangutan, one of the most
intelligent of the great apes.

It supported a vast ecosystem. Due to a combination of drought,
irrigation and human activity, it will disappear entirely by 2027. This will
have a devastating impact on Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon.

• With a vast part of the population having reached the living standard of
the developed countries, the world will require over 50% more food
than it did at the beginning of the century. At the same time many
regions will face decreasing productivity. Decades of heavy pesticide
usage and excess fertilizers have chocked the environment making land
toxic and less productive. Food prices will soar out of control and the
world will approach a genuine, major survival crisis.

• The world population has been steady at about 200-300 million since
the end of the last ice age, then, we discovered oil and the population
exploded. It doubled the first time in 123 years reaching 2 billions, by
1927 and then it doubled again in only 47 years reaching 4 billions in
1974 and then added one billion every 13 years. An unbelievable and
unsustainable explosion. By 2030 additional two billion will be added
bringing immense stress to the natural world leading to its collapse.

• In late 2030s the rise of the global temperature reached 2°C. This will
occur despite a plunge in crude oil production. CO2 emissions from past
decades have yet to develop their full effect on the climate system,
while other hydrocarbons (such as coal and “unconventional” oil) have
seen an increase of their use after the oil production has peaked.

countries, and sees the establishment of whole new farming systems
based on carefully controlled indoor environments.

• Human population fabulous rise in the twentieth century was fuelled by oil and as soon it is gone the
population has to go. It isn’t be a natural smooth decline, it is driven by food constraints and wild
weather that made unliveable large part of the planet. The food crisis is unlike any other, hundreds
of millions will starve and for the first time food is scares even in the developed world.

• Global average temperatures soared by over 5°C.
• CO2 emissions from the 19th through 21st centuries lowered the PH
level of the oceans. This increased the acidity of seawater, drastically
reducing the availability of calcium carbonate that many creatures
needed to build shells and skeletons like corals. The Australian Great
Barrier reef is declared dead.

• By 2090 Greenland and Iceland have lost most of their ice cover pouring
vast quantities of fresh water into the oceans blocking the Gulf Stream
and the global current impairing the ability of the oceans to recirculate
water and sustain marine life. Entire regions of the oceans will become
devoid of oxygen and unable to support plankton, molluscs and
crustaceans. Food chains collapse, whales, sharks and dolphins
disappear from our seas. Marine birds also go extinct.

• The loss of ocean circulation has caused sea water to stagnate killing
most of marine life. Marine life decays producing hydrogen sulphide, a
strong poisonous gas that, by venting into the atmosphere, will kill most
of the remaining terrestrial life along the cost lines and islands.

• A story started 180 million years ago is coming to its end. Mankind has
triggered the same process occurred when volcanism released an
enormous quantity of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere causing
global warming and a devastating global extinction which led to the
formation of oil. Mass die out of plants and animals created a huge
accumulation of biomass that, once deposited on the ocean floor, got
buried and became the black gold.

• 180 million years on, we found it, we extracted and burned almost all of
it in a geological instant pumping back into the atmosphere the same
old carbon and reactivating the process once again. Will our bodies
become the black gold of some future species 180 million years down
the track?

• Earth will be on its way to become a desert planet, with a highly volatile
climate and fluctuating extremes of weather. Most of the population
will be crammed into dense vertical cities around freshwater locations,
far away from the coast and highly dependent on advanced technology.
At this point losing our technology would mean sure death, there will be
no way back.
Which one of the two
sides will prevail?
