Introduction
His name is Thyagraja Paramasiva Kailasam (1884-1946).
He was born 29 July 1884, Bangalore, India.
He was a prominent writer of Kannada literature.
He also contributed to Kannada Theatre so, Kannada
Theater gave him the name “The Father of humorous
plays” for his humorous plays and later he was also called
as “Kannada Obbeane Kailasam” means “One and Only
Kailasam for Kannada”.
His English Plays: Fulfillment Purpose
Critically analyze the character of Arjuna
in the purpose.
 Arjuna was born after a year long
prayer to Indra by Pandu, so that
when Kunti summons him, they get
the best possible son by the king of
the celestials.
 He was born amongst much fanfare in
the mountain forests, with
akashvanis and great rejoicing.
 He was hailed as the bringer of
prosperity, cheer, fortune and
happiness, and a great warrior
besides.
Continue…
He was a middle brother, he is not decision maker nor
leader, but a follower.
He always looked for directions. He jumps up to try
his hand at the swayamvarya.
Even before Kurukshetra, he knew that human cost of
war and wanted peace. He is given the
Pashupatastra, the single most powerful weapon in
the world.
Continue…
 Imagine being a very famous,
brave, hand so me and much
sought after man to living as
half a man, the object of
ridicule.
Continue…
 He was fiercely proud of his Gandiva.
 He had secretly taken an oath even, that anyone who
disparaged him and his Gandiva would be killed!
 His pride in his valor and exceptional talent
sometimes wanders into arrogance.
Continue…
 He is an ideal devotee.
 He had surrendered himself to Krishna completely.
All his introspection, his doubts about dharma, his
propensity to do the right thing…everything was
given up at a single command from Krishna.
 Once Krishna told him to do something, nothing
could stop him from doing it.
