2. About the Author T.P Kailasham
● Thanjavur Paramasiva Kailasham, was
a Playwright and prominent writer of
Kanada Literature
● He was also called “Kannadakke
obbane Kailasham (one and only
Kailasham for Kanada”).
● His contribution to Kannada theatrical
comedy earned him the title
“Prahasanap prapitamaha, ( the father
of humorous plays)
3. About the play
● The Purpose by T.P Kailasham
is a short play dramatizing
events that occurred in the
Mahabharata involving Drona,
Arjuna, and Eklavya.
● Drona is a skilled teacher,
renown throughout the land for
his wisdom and skill.
4. Significance of two classes
in the play
● Arjuna belongs to a royal family and
he has full facility and comfortable life.
● Eklavya Nishadha boy and poor, and
he doesn't have any facility or
comfortable life.
5. Different purpose of two Characters
● Arjuna’s purpose is to become greatest archer of the
world.
● While Eklavya's purpose is to save animals of the
jungle.
6. Character of Eklavya
● Eklavya was a Nishadha boy
● He was the fast learner than
Arjuna
● He wanted to become a disciple
of Drona but he was rejected.
● He decided to learn archery by
himself and become the best
archer of the world.
7. Character of Arjuna
● He was the prince of
Hasthinapur.
● He was very slow learner than
Eklavya.
● He learned archery from Guru
Drona, because he was coming
from uper class.
● In T.P Kailasham's purpose we
can see that the character of
Arjuna was very greedy.
8. Character of Drona
● The great guru Drona teaches archery to the
prices of Hasthinapur.
● He also wants to teach archery to Eklavya but he
was bounded by the promise.
● When Drona started teaching archery to the
prices he always said that “Practice makes a man
perfect.”
