The document discusses ideas for a music video for the song "Kygo Firestone" by Robyn, Madison and Adam. It will focus on the themes of love and take place at a music festival to match the song's upbeat rhythm. Imagery in the lyrics about needing light will be portrayed through slow motion shots of a lover feeling powerless without their partner. The narrative will involve either two people meeting at the festival but losing each other, or a young couple arguing but reuniting at the end, leaving some details ambiguous for the audience to interpret.
2. Themes
For this song, we have decided to go for a more
traditional focus of love as we felt it really matched
the songs themes and lyrics and we wished to
demonstrate a song that matched the lyrics
For this song we have also decided to choose the
setting as one of a festival, as we feel that the song
matches that atmosphere with the songs rhythmic
beat
3. Imagery
The song uses Lyrics such as “I am the dark in need
of light”, which can be interpreted to mean that the
singer needs someone to light up their life, which
would be someone they desire
This leads us to imagine someone wanting someone
that they were once with and now miss
We can demonstrate this with the media techniques
of which we can show the lover as powerless and
weak without their desired partner using low angle
shots and slow motion edits
4. Narrative
As I have mentioned before, the theme we have gone for is built around a
festival setting. We have also decided to use a happy ending to the video
rather than a sad one as it better matched the songs upbeat lyrics
The first idea would be two people that meet only once during that
festival but cannot find each other again until the very end
The second idea revolves around a young couple arguing and moving
away from each other at a festival, at which they realize they need each
other and fall back into love
We will follow Andrew Goodwin’s idea of allowing the audience to fill in
the narrative, by not demonstrating any background of the characters but
only that they are confused about their emotions. With the familer setting,
the audience can rely their own background and characters into the video
to make it more relatable and re-watchable
