In my title and opening sequence the social group I have represented
in my opening scene is teenage girls. I have done this through mise en
scene by firstly looking at the costumes of the main character is
wearing converse which is currently on tread with what teenager wear.
She is also wearing a bomber jacket with converse that are in fashion
for the teenager now. This means that the teenagers watching the film
will be able to connect with the film. She is also wearing all black that
shows she is depressed as when people are feeling low they always
black as they have no energy or don’t want to stand out. Anyone at
any age wears black when sad so therefore it will link in with my social
group. Amy is wearing make up in the opening scene which most
teenage girls wear. This is also showing that she is insecure as make up
a shield for some people and gives them confidence, she also has long
hair which is showing she cares about her appearance this also could
be a shield for her.
Next, the props that are used within my opening
scene represent my chosen social group for
example, when Amy is packing her bag she is
packing into a handbag. This is showing that she is a
teenager girl as they always have a handbag with
them. With the use of props it shows that my film is
aimed at the older end of the teenage years as
when Amy is taking the pills she drinks them back
with a bottle of whisky. This is important as it is
showing that she is careless and even though she is
a teenager she is too young to understand just how
strong whisky is.
Next, I have used multiple camera angles within my
opening scene for example I used high angles of
Amy to make her look weak. I used close up shots
of when she was packing her bag so you could see
in detail what she was putting in her bag. I have
also used a high angle when Amy is packing her bag
to show that she is young and weak. I have used a
tracking shot when Amy is walking to the grave yard
as it builds up the tension for the audience because
it feels as though you are the one walking.
I have used a bed room for one of the scene as
this is where teenagers usually hangout with
their friends, they usually spend most of their
time in their room if they are not out with their
friends. It is a girly room to reinforce that is
mainly aimed at girls the film and it is an all-girl
film. A double bed is shown in the background
showing that it is aged at older teenagers
because when you get older you tend to have a
bigger bed from when you were younger.
Also body language that Amy is showing through
the opening scene shows that she is a teenage
girl. This is because she is very reserved and
hunched over, showing that she has no
confidence which most teenage girls don’t have.
Amy never looks at the camera this could be
showing she is a stroppy teenager as teenagers
never look you in the eye. We also never see her
face as it show she upset as when you are upset
you don’t look people in the eye.
In the first part of the opening scene it is
showing the attitude of girls been weak as it is
showing a girl running away. It is also showing
that teenagers are immature as she is just
running away from her problem instead of trying
to get help. This is showing the stereotype that
all girls are weak and that teenage girl just run
away from their troubles as they don’t like
talking and opening up to people.
