2. About Myself:
My name is Molly Wannerton and I am 17 years old, I am currently studying at
Southdowns college studying multi media journalism. If I had to say a passion
that I am most determined to proceed in doing, it would be photography. I
started to get into photography when I took it as a GCSE in my secondary school,
the course consisted on a general over view of photography and mainly included
writing annotations for photographs I took. As interesting as the course was, it
did not focus as much on how to take a good photograph, which sparked my
interest to continue investigating after I finished school. For my birthday I got
given a DSLR camera by Nikon d7000, the camera was so advanced that Iām still
finding out new things about it today. Once I got my camera one of my dads
friendās Don, asked if I was interested in joining in with him photographing a
wedding, I was really nervous at first because it was the pressure of this couple
relying on my photoās. After the ceremony I got more interactive and started
gathering groups of people and taking lotās more photoās including sneaky snap
shots of the children stealing sweets. Doing the wedding made me more excited
to get more involved with areas of photography.
3. SWOT
Strengths-
ā¢ Good at devoting time into given tasks
ā¢ Like presenting ideas and trying out new ways of presenting that idea
ā¢ Love team work, but prefer working independently as I stay more focused that way
ā¢ I love designing and drawing (basically anything artsy), I particularly love graphics and using photoshop
ā¢ I am comfortable working with the general public and am gradually feeling comfortable with asking questions and
interacting with the public.
ā¢ I like taking notes and gathering information, so that I have a better understanding of what I am learning
Weaknesses-
ā¢ Am not the most patient person, and will always want to skip to the finished outcome instead of taking my time in
the process of the making.
ā¢ I like writing but if the assignment has any sort of creative section I will feel compelled to start that before writing.
Opportunities-
If I got the opportunity to work along side my dads friend Dom (the photographer) again I would, the more I practice
the more I feel confident with my camera. Furthermore the more experience that I get with wedding photography the
more I am able to put it down on my CV. If I have it on my CV it makes me look more experienced and interested even if
wedding photography is not the root I want to go down.
Threats-
Obviously I am still young and am at college so hours are important for my time at college. Because photography will be
a very time consuming job role.

Where do I want to be in
the future?
I would like to be able to
start off in a small
photography studio. Once I
can get used to seeing and
understanding how it all
works and finding more
confidence with working
with my camera, I would
then start to think about
potentially starting my
own photography
business. That would be
the ulltimate dreamā¦

5. How to start a photography businessā¦
ā¢ The first ting you will need to do is simply break into a profession by
approaching established photographers and asking for a part-time role or
apprenticeship.
ā¢ Many successful wedding photographers use part time on a semi- regular basis
to help put during busy periods. Paying them around Ā£100-150 to photograph a
wedding. This typically takes around three to four hours to do, starting at the
brideās home and finishing at the wedding reception.
ā¢ Obviously you will need your own equiptment and a portfolio of your own work,
this will give you more chance of being picked for part time work.
ā¢ The summer is a good time to approach looking into part time work for weddings
as the summer is a great time as there is plenty of weddings and can get busy
during the summer.
ā¢ As you continue to get used to taking photographers at weddings, you may get
asked to photograph a wedding by your self and will be able to pass round a
word of your photography as time goes on
ā¢ If you have or are taking a photography course this will add to your business
looking more professional.
6. Business Cards
āBusiness cards are a really handy thing to keep on you when you
are in hope of making your business a success. However, with
business cards I will have to make sure that I am able to drive and
to also have the hours to do it (depending on whether I go to
university or not). Then thatās when my photography could
potentially take off and I can devote my time to the business.ā

10. A Specialist Photographer
The job of a specialist photographer is to
create visual images for a particular
purpose, usually to a brief set by a client
or manager. They work across almost
every field, but the preeminent fields of
fashion, occasion and portrait
photographs attract the most attention
when is comes down to money.
Many photographers specialize in one
area, and are self-employed, whilst others
work for employers in every field
imaginable. Photographers have to work
with their clients to determine exactly
what they are looking for, before
obtaining the images required through a
medium of skill and technology.
They must edit and perfect the images
for the client, before they have fulfilled
their task and can move on to the next
brief, whether that be for the same client
or a separate one.
12. A Still Photographer
The role of a Still photographer is that they
promote the film by taking pictures of the
set as well as the actors and actresses. The
pictures taken then help towards the film
and its success.
However, there are certain rules and
regulations that the stars are able to 'kill'
some of the images taken if they do not
want that picture available to the public,
which then follows on to the fact that this
role requires a friendly appearance and be
able to prepare to lose some of the photo's
that you may be proud of.
As far as qualifications concern, you don't
not need any specific qualifications as long
as you have a degree in photography, and of
course other qualifications are good to have.
