1. Consider an antenna transmitting a power of 5W at 900MHz. The distance
between the transmit and receive antennas is 2Kms. Assuming free-space
propagation, calculate the received signal power and the path loss in dB
when
(a) Transmit and receive antennas are isotropic
(b) Transmit and receive antenna gains are 1.6
2. For a parabolic reflective antenna with a diameter of 2m, operating at
12GHz, what is the effective area and antenna gain? (use the table on
slide#12)
3. Using the Okumura-Hata Model, determine the pathloss of a 900 MHz cellular
system operating in a large city from a base station with height of 100m and
mobile station installed in a vehicle with antenna height of 2m. The distance
between the mobile and the base station is 4Kms.
