Crusades <ul><li>The Crusades were a series of militar campaign from Occidental Europe, for petition of the Papacy, between the centuries XI and XIII. </li></ul><ul><li>The First Crusade (1096-1099). </li></ul><ul><li>This crusade was organized by the Pope Urbano II </li></ul><ul><li>with the finality to conquer the Holy Place </li></ul><ul><li>(Jerusalem), in hands of the muslims. </li></ul><ul><li>The Second Crusade (1145-1148). This Second Crusade, anounced by the Pope Eugenio II, </li></ul><ul><li> was caused in response to the downfall of Edesa </li></ul><ul><li>(the first crusaded estate). </li></ul><ul><li>The most important kings were Luis VII from France and Conrado III. They were defeated by the Turks. </li></ul>
  2. 3. <ul><li>The Third Crusade (1189-1192). They tried to get back to the Holy Places. </li></ul><ul><li>The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204. In this crusade, they sent the armies to reconquer the Holy Places, but the armies diverted the course and conquered Constantinopla. </li></ul><ul><li>There where others crusades like The Baltics Crusade </li></ul><ul><li>(against the pagan people) and The Minors Crusades. </li></ul><ul><li>The shield of the crusades. </li></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>The pilgrimages are journeys to Holy Places to show the devotion for God. </li></ul><ul><li>The people who did the pilgrimages are called pilgrims. </li></ul><ul><li>There are three kinds of pilgrims: </li></ul><ul><li>Muslims  They went to La Meca </li></ul><ul><li>Cristians  They went to Santiago de Compostela </li></ul><ul><li>Jews  They went to Jerusalem </li></ul>Pilgrimages
