This is our research into the film classification that we will be using for our A level film project. This will explain why we have chosen the certificate and what will be included.
2. HOW DOES CLASSIFICATION WORK?
• It is used to make sure that the content that is released is suitable for the appropriate
people to be viewing it. This allows to protect people from harmful content and
deciding if should be viewed or not. The BBFC examines and then age rates the films
before they are released and look at the criteria that they have to see what matches.
This is an independent scrutiny allows for the highest possible level of protection and
empowerment.
3. OUR FILM – 15 CERTIFICATE
• For a film that is a 12A rating the following may appear in the film that makes it appropriate for that rating.
• For example:
• Discrimination
• Drugs
• Imitable Behaviour
• Moderate Language
• Nudity, Sexual Activity
• Threat and Violence
4. THE REASONS FOR CHOOSING 15
CERTIFICATE
• Our film will feature strong language that will be used by the main character may be used when dealing with there
issues.
• The film will feature a freighting figure that could be threating and will display a violence scene that will include harm.
• There is also very strong threat that will be featured in the film as there will be the vulnerability of a character.
• The reason why it isn’t a 12A is that the behaviour and actions that are portrayed in this film aren’t suitable for the
younger age viewing.
