WHAT ARE VIRAL ADVERTS?
• This is a marketing technique that uses social networking
services and other technologies to produce increases in
awareness to the audience.
• This technique can help in film to build up an atmosphere for
a film, this will attract an audience that will then lead to more
people watching and talking about a film.
EXAMPLES OF VIRAL MARKETING
• The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
- This film started there campaign with having bats chalked on
landmarks around the world. Then using social media site
Twitter it aloud to interact with the audience via using the
picture where they found the bat and the hashtag
#TDKR07162012. This then allowed for every bat that was
found a piece of the trailer was unlocked and then showed the
final trailer.
• Pitch Perfect 2 (2015)
• For this film they were one of the first films that used social
networking app Snapchat. This allowed them to interact with
fans on the info, trailer and also details about the film. While
doing this they attracted 300,000 followers as a result of it.
• This helped to attract the target audience of the film which
was 16-30 as this age group use there phones a lot and also
have the snapchat app.
