BBFC Classification
1. The BBFC
Within the post we will be looking at the classification of my movie and what age rating would we
give it. These include U (universal), PG (parental guidance), 12, 12A (under 12 guided by an adult),15,
18,R18 (restricted 18).
The BBFC – the British board of film classification is in charge of movie classification with the United
Kingdom they decide the rating of the movie by looking at the following things. Violence, sex, nudity,
language, mature themes, drugs, discrimination, horror and imitable behaviour. These are all
analysed to see what context these are used within to see what classification a movie is given.
We have chosen to give our movie and its opening a rating of 15 . We made this choice for many
reasons including the violence and language used within our movie. Our movie will contain graphic
violence but not frequently through the movie. There are also themes of terror and thriller that will
appear frequent within the movie but not scar the viewer. There will not be drugs or sexual scenes
within the movie and also there will be very little discrimination. Over all our movie will be mild in
most topics however some will be more frequently used such language, violence and horror.
Violence Strong violence frequently
Language Strong language
Sex/Nudity No references to sex or nudity.
Themes Romance, humour, conflict, violence and imitable behaviour
Drugs There is no drugs or references to drug within the movie
Discrimination Little to no discrimination
Imitable behaviour Frequent behaviour that could be imitated
Over all I will take this into consideration when filming because these themes will appear within the
opening this will include strong violence including blood and gore. Strong language including
swearing.
