Abusive College Life
I am not the traditional college freshman applicant. I am not only the mother of 2 little girls, but also
27 years old. As a little girl I always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian when I grew up. A child of
an abusive home, I loved the escape that school provided me. I relished in homework and learning
new things. I was often shifted from one abusive situation with my mother, to another abusive
situation with my grandparents. At the age of 13 CPS removed me from my mother's care and
placed me with my grandparents. My grandparent's home was both emotionally and verbally
abusive. My only outlets were school and work, and because of this I struggled with depresion,
suicidal thoughts, and self harm. I was desperate for a way out of my home situation. When my
mother showed up just before my 18th birthday, near the end of first semester of my senior year, I
fell right into her empty promises and manipulative tactics. I prepared myself to move and switch
schools. My major educational dilema occured when I got to my new high school and discovered
that not only did they not offer a lot of the AP courses I was taking, but they also didn't offer core
classes that I needed to complete my academic honors diploma. I was absolutely devestated, but my
mother offered to homeschool me. At the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I got married the day after I turned 20 and had my first daughter 2 months before my 21st birthday.
My marriage was unhappy, unhealthy, and abusive in a myriad of ways. When I finally developed
the courage to leave, I went out in search of what I thought was my only option– a GED. I easily
passed the test and gained my GED, but I have never been fully satisfied with that. Several months
ago I discovered the Excel Center, an adult high school that would allow me to obtain the final
credits I needed to have a core 40 diploma. I jumped at the opportunity. I am currently enrolled and
almost have all of my requirements

College Is Not The Best Years Of Your Life
College is NOT the Best Years of Your Life
I remember high school graduation like it was yesterday. The bitter–sweet feeling of completing the
"rite of passage" in the eyes of most adults. All the exams, projects, and hard work over a four–year
time span has now come to an end. Saying goodbye to those classroom friends, the kind of friends
you would share homework answers with, but never actually heard from outside of school. It was
not easy parting ways with the teachers that you built a personal relationship with as they prepared
you for the next step of your life. Graduation night was emotional for everyone, all of the families
crying tears of joy in the parking lot afterward knowing that their little babies have now grown up.
All of the real, true friends that you grew up with are now going their separate ways for a few
months, but don't get too upset, you will see them very soon over Thanksgiving break. Although
every graduate had a unique experience that night, I can guarantee each one heard some variation of
the phrase "college will be the best four years of your life". Most kids, including myself, believed
those well–wishing individuals, but does that commonly used phrase have any truth to it?
In today's society, the idea of college is portrayed by the media as a wild party scene where young
adults struggle to receive an education due to their long nights spent partying. Most high school
seniors were looking forward to the day they could move out of the house and

My College Life
College life is hard to adjust to no matter how many motivational speeches you get in life. I knew
college wasn't going to be like high school, but it's one thing to say and another to see. I closed one
chapter in my life to open what seems to be a whole new book. Once I graduated high school, my
life was bombarded with change. Some of the change was pleasurable and the others were
heartbreaking. College put emphasis on independents which is something I battle with.
Before starting LaGuardia, I was already petrified. All of my friends had already started college and
were already taking exams. It felt wrong that I hadn't started already. Having to take 2 hours of my
day to make a schedule was already exhausting. I had no idea what the class SYF 101 was which
scared me. I asked people if they knew what it might be but not one person did. Once I started the
class I found out it was an intro to psychology. I was relieved Nevertheless, I was excited to start
PSY 101. I always love learning why people do the things they do. I remember I check rate my
professor and nothing popped up for my professor. It made me nervous for my first class which
happened to be on a Saturday. All in all my professor turned out to be great and psychology ended
up being my favorite class. There was one time in class that I'll never forget. My professor asked us
to write a letter to a child in our lives for their 18 birthday. We had to tell them what we wish for
them and how they changed us. I remember

College : Success, And My Life Is Failure In College
College essay
An experience that has impacted me and my life is failure. In school we learn about a lot of
successful people throughout history. What many people don't know is that a lot of people we study
in history weren't always successful starting out. People like Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, Walt
Disney and multi billionaire Bill Gates all had trouble on the way to success ! It's humanly normal
to fail. Some of the greatest minds in history have failed in order to succeed. Throughout all our
lives we have experienced failure, it is a key factor in our lives that makes us more resilient . But
what is failure? Failure is the inability to succeed; being unsuccessful. For some failure can either
make you or break you, however, it made me into the intelligent, hardworking person I am today.
"Giving up is the only sure way to fail".Five years ago that is exactly what I did. In junior high
school I failed to uphold the values that I set forth prior to beginning junior high school. I always
told myself that I would work hard for my grades, that I would put my all into my work even if I
didn't get good grades, and most importantly I would be a strong intelligent young man. Instead I
gave up, I slacked off, got my house called every week, and worst of all I acted a fool in
class.Ultimately my grades paid the price, and so did I. I was supposed to be mature and well
rounded before I left junior high school ,but at the rate I was going I didn't see that for my

Kanis Grady's College Life
When Kanis Grady graduated from high school, she was told she will have tremendous fun and gain
experience with many different people and at various places while in college. Those who gave her
this insight on the college experience neglected to tell her that life gets more challenging than high
school. In high school, Kanis Grady knew her surroundings, family was there to help her, and the
work load was not as challenging as it is now. Kanis Grady feels that her college life is nothing
similar to high school life, the food, the environment, and the work load is difficult. The transition
from high school to college is a major adjustment.
Kanis Grady has transitioned well to her university's environment, including food, but she cannot

Why Is College Necessary For A Successful Life?
Everyone defines success in his or her own way due to his or her personality based on what he or
she wants to accomplish in life. For one it may be exaggerant amounts of money, a big house, or
fame, while for another it could be being close with his or her family, food on the table, or spiritual
happiness. The claims that college is necessary for a successful life weighs heavily on every
person's definition, but the most basic form of success has to be simply living. College may seem
like the ultimate key to success, granting undeniable career opportunities, sustainable income, and
reliable security; but recent studies have shown that with our rapidly evolving society, there are
more and more reasons to not attend college. For one, the sheer

My College Life Experience
My college life experience started in 2016, when I finally decided what it was I going to become.
College will not only help me with my own personal goals, but it will help with preparing for my
future career. Marketing Management is what I am studying for and I know a few things that I
expect to learn while educating myself on this specific subject. There are, of course, many new
things I am looking forward too when getting my diploma and degree. Once I receive my degree
from Coastal Pines Technical College, I will want to achieve great things in my life and make sure
that I keep trying once I get there.
The college education I am receiving is helping me achieve my own personal goals in life. Since I
have started college, I know my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once I receive the degree and I can get a job that I vision to have, I will then learn about more about
financial stability.
I expect to learn about not only marketing management, but also subjects surrounding the subject at
hand. I will expect to learn how to speak to everyone professionally in the business. Learning to
speak to my coworkers will consist of not only in the flesh, but in emails as well. With this learning
experience, there will be a huge involvement of entrepreneurship and small business management.
The year I have been going to college I have received my certificate for Small Business
Management and Retail Merchandise Management. I expect to be educated quite well on everything
needed for the job I hope to have in the future.
With my time at Coastal Pines Technical College, I will be most excited about learning every detail
of marketing management. The classes I have taken, business law was my favorite subject. It was
very interesting learning the different laws in the government and what one can do in any case they
end up not just in marketing. Another subject that caught my eye was the way the store is set up and
why because it answered many of questions I have had about the arrangements of a store. I am
excited about knowing more details about my major than I knew before. A subject I fear but I am
eager to take is accounting. I believe the reason why is because a lot of students say that the class is

College Admissions Essay: My Life After College
During my younger years as a child, I always found myself in front of the television watching
doctors performing operation procedures. My mom never understood how I could just sit and watch
all of the cutting and blood spilling, but not once did she feel that I was weird. For Halloween I
dressed as a doctor, and when people asked what did I dream to become after college, I would
always reply, "A doctor." Two of my closest girlfriends gave birth and I was lucky and grateful to
have been in the delivery room witnessing blessings entering into the world. Both times, instead of
standing beside them holding their hands, I was down by the delivery crew watching everything and
was in extreme excitement. At that point, I told myself I knew what I wanted to do and that was
going to medical school; at least I thought. I have always known that it is extremely important to
have a focus in life and become someone successful. For my senior year, I changed schools only to
dance on the school's drill team. Lanier High School was a school in the ghetto and was frowned
upon where I lived, but little did I know that this school was a challenge academically. Lanier
showed me that I was not being pushed to my limits and that the teachers really taught and the kids
really wanted to learn. I was placed in AP courses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

processed out due to overmanning in the military. By this time, I felt I was I knew what I wanted so
I applied to Hampton University's Cellular and Molecular Biology program. 2015 I walked with my

The Importance Of College In Your Daily Life
College is very beneficial to your daily life.
College can be very beneficial to your everyday life for example College degree holders earned
$58,500 dollars a year, while diploma holders earned $23,900.
In my opinion I think that college is pretty much worth the money because college helps you on
make that money you used on it back.College also helps on getting better jobs you can enjoy so that
you can make money doing something you love.
For example In its most recent survey, the National Association of Colleges and Employers found
that for 10 broad degree categories ranging from engineering to communications, 2016 graduates
are projected to have an average salary of $50,556. That's up 5% from 2014, when new grads earned
an average of $48,127.
In my perspective I believe that you make a lot more money in college than you do than a high
school grad.Because high school grads earn an average hourly wage of $10.89 and a annual income
of $22,700 for a full–time, full–year worker.and finally I believe that College is very beneficial to
your daily life by helping you with money problems. Is college really worth the time you put in it.is
it worth it They say many successful people never graduated from college and that many jobs,
especially trades jobs, do not require college degrees.leading me to believe that college might not be
worth the time and effort that will lead me to a better future.for example just look at bill gates he

My Life In College
I am very thankful to have been born into my family. With exception's such as Yale, or Harvard my
parents were more than happy to send me to whatever college that interested me. As a child I have
gotten to experience things such as vacations to Disney World, waterparks, and going to the
beautiful beaches of Mexico, and Dominican Republic. These are opportunities that many people
may never get a chance to have in their life. Which is why through the past eighteen years I have
been taught, and expected by my family, and peers to do something big in my life in order to
continue living, and someday provide the same lifestyle. The College of Southern Maryland (CSM)
was the right choice for me because I did not know for sure what I wanted to major in, or what
general path I wanted to take. Although I was eager to get the full college experience of decorating
the dorm to going to big parties. I had to make a trade off to wait for those things and go to CSM
first because I was not about to waste my family's money, and rush into a university only to find out
that they do not have my major. So many people have told me their story of how they went a year or
two into college, and decided to change their major because that was something they didn't want to
do for the rest of their life.
CSM was my way of ensuring that I would have more flexibility , and a higher chance of getting it
right the first time. Another reason I am so fixated on getting it right the first time is because I

The Realities of College Life Essay
As I graduated high school, I thought college would just be yet another four years of high school,
and I was wrong. College opens many new doors in a young man or woman's life. There are new
responsibilities and pressures that you will have to deal with, and with more freedom these
responsibilities and pressures can be difficult to handle. College has changed a great deal over the
years and these changes, such as more freedoms, make college a much more challenging
experience. You need to start preparing for college now by making yourself more responsible and
having more self–control. Although you think college is merely partying with easy classes on the
side, I have experienced pressures and work loads that make the experience challenging ... Show

They did not ever want to think they would change jobs. They want to know what is going to
happen in their lives till they get to their prepaid grave (292). Zinsser believes that students need to
stop worrying so much about the pay of their jobs. He wants students to study the subject that
interests them, not which career pays the most. There is definitely one unifying aspect that is the
same between college now and then and that is there are pressures.
In college life, students face many pressures. One of my biggest stressors was keeping my student
scholarship. After coming in to college with a 3.3 grade point average, I knew that keeping a 3.0 in
college, for my scholarship, was going to be a challenge that I had not yet experienced. This caused
me to work even harder and sometimes even too hard. The scholarship played a large factor in
choosing Baldwin Wallace as my school of choice, so retaining my reward is of the utmost
importance to both me personally, and my parents financially. As I began classes I realized that the
work load seemed a lot larger than high school, and sometimes as if it were never going to end. I
soon realized how to balance my time between school work and making grades, as well as meeting
new people and having fun. There are many enjoyable things that make college the great experience
it has been so far, so finding an equilibrium of hard work and good times has been one the best new

Why College Is A Successful Life With A Career
As of recently, the validity of college has been questioned, is it really necessary to have a college
education to be successful? In the past, education was the key to a successful life with a career.
However, as of recently, some people don't even have to earn the much coveted bachelor's degree to
make as much money as a person that went to school to earn such degree. So the question is what is
the purpose of college? Is it really worth all the effort, time, sweat, and tears? Even though times
have changed and the reason for going to college has taken a financial turn. I'm a firm believer that
college certainly has its purpose aside from financial. The person that pushed me to go to college
was my mother. In an informal interview I asked her what she thought on the purpose of college.
She immediately told me that it was a vital element for me to have a successful future and life
(Aguilar). In a poll performed by pewsocialtrends.com "Nearly every parent surveyed (94%) says
they expect their child to attend college... ("Is College Worth It?")"
For some time the purpose of higher education has been debated. On one side people insist that
college is sort of a "coming to age rite" where student could learn and grow in many ways.
According to the survey performed by Pew research, "Thirty–nine percent of people believe that
college, main purpose is to open your senses and mind to new things and new ideas" ("Purpose of
College Education"). From personal experience, I could say

"How will college change my life?"
Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money.
College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from
sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original
schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying.
College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a
glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and
providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking
responsibility for one's own actions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a
healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life,
not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally.
The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An
adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a
line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College
students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a
guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's
help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to
the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a
degree.
College is a chance to be free and is a bridge between the real world and school. I'm an adult and
expected to behave as such; I make my own choices where I have to decide what is important to me.
I have an opportunity to learn how the world works, to explore the limitless possibilities and a
chance to admire how vast knowledge can be. College will change my life in the way that I can
develop life skills outside academics, to be fully

Lif Life Is Hard For College Students
For some college students, life is so difficult. Most people think that being in college is easy, but it
is very hard to handle. People go through many thing that make college hard for them. Money is one
of the biggest issues among many students. Depression, which could happen to just about any one,
is another reason. Also it is hard for students to adjust to things. Getting money for school is very
hard especially if you have low income. It's difficult because maybe the students didn't have the
grades or write the right papers to receive scholarships. Schools now in days cost a fortune. Every
time a student approach a new semester, they think about how much more debt they will be in after
college. Outside of school almost every students have a home they have to provide for. Some have

students feel as if they will never make friends. They feel as if they are intentionally left out of

Conception Of College Life
The preconceived notion of college life is that everyone is broke, tired, and struggling academically,
spiritually and socially. While the college experience is different for each individual attending,
everyone is pretty much going through the same things. We all eat the same food, experience the
same fatigue after staying up all night studying for that exam coming up, checking our bank
accounts and cringing when we see that we only have a few measly dollars left and regret the
Whataburger we bought the other night when we thought we just had to have it and the food from
the cafeteria would not suffice. I pretty much expected all of this. I expected the difficulty of the

my suitemates. I thought that maybe we would just brush by each other or say good morning. I
always thought that sharing a bathroom with three other girls would be horrendous and that there

School Life And College Life Essay
An Essay on School Life and College Life
There is a great deal of difference between school life and college life. School life is a life of
restrictions and control, a life in which the student has to be accountable for his daily work to his
teachers and his guardian. But a college student, of the other hand, enjoys much greater freedom
from control and supervision; he is, to a very large extent, the master of his own destiny. It lies with
him to make it or mar it.
At school the students has to be in attendance for fixed hours every day. He has to leave home at ten
or eleven and return at four at college, however, the hours of attendance very. Sometimes, a college
student has hardly time in the morning to gulp his food; at others, he has enough time to lounge
about for a few minutes after a leisurely meal. On some days he returns early from college; or
others, it is late evening by the time he gets back home. He has ample time at his disposal to use,
abuse, or misuse.
At school the student has to prepare his daily lessons and may be taken to task for what he has left
undone. But at college he can do his lessons daily, or not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

the college students out of his greater sense of responsibility. Of course it has to be admitted that
college life offers greater scope to a student to go astray. It he takes himself light–heartedly, he will
have to suffer. It he allows arrears of studies to accumulate he will pay the price with failure and
disgrace. Hence a studious pupil improves more rapidly at college than at school; but a waster

Personal Narrative: Life After College
Life After College The fact that there is life after school is honestly a little terrifying. Since the age

all thrown out in the real world. We are expected to immediately go out and get a job, start a family

college on I hope to thrive in college, become a great teacher, create a family and be financially
stable. College is the start of your "grown up" life and I hope to thrive while I am here. While
college has been academically challenging I hope to finish it out with a high GPA and great
memories. I hope that I can learn to be the best teacher I can be and to learn how to tackle hard

still felt the investment was a good one for them." Andrew Rotherham brings up a great point that
even though many believe that college does not provide much it is still worth the time and effort,
any job that you want could pick some else that has a higher education. This world is a competition
for who looks better with their skills and academics, because of this going to college, even if you
feel it is not "good" you will have a much higher chance for that promotion or big job. Making

Is College Worth The Value Of Life?
College is a question of to be or to not to be. Do I want to be a college graduate or not? Some people
know the answer already, others don't. A lucky few already have it figured out from now to the
future. Some believe college is a necessity, a mandatory tool to the survival of the real world. Others
believe it's overrated and if you're really smart you can figure it out yourself. But what about me?
Well, I don't necessarily believe college is a necessity, but i also dont think its useless. college is
expensive, it's a fact of life. Most of us will have to work extra hard to even have a chance to get
into a good college, and that sucks, it really does, but if you're wise you'll realize it's worth it. For

On the other hand, just because college isn't for everyone doesn't mean everyone else can't go to
college, college isn't some mystical place that can only be entered during a certain age and through a
wardrobe. College is a place where we go to pursue a higher education that'll make our dreams a
reality. Other people might say that you can be successful without college, I mean look at Mark
Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates, they all dropped out of college and they're jumping into
pools full of gold. So why can't I do that? Well, the thing these people all have in common is that
they're all geniuses who probably didn't need college anyway, the rest of us aren't exactly holding
aces in that department. We have to rely on our own persistence and determination to succeed in
order to bring about prosperity.
Ultimately, most of us will have to work extra hard to get into college, but if you're wise you'll
realize it's worth it. College degrees are worth more money than a high school diploma. College is
something akin to the promise lands in this day and age, it's believed only the chosen ones may get
in. However if you work at it and never cave in, I promise you myself that you'll get

The Importance Of College Life
For more students entering college is full of fear and an anxiety experience. Most students have
sleepless nights just thinking about how their future is going to be, and what path they should take.
Furthermore, students will fear of not seeing the same familiar faces they have seen for the past four
years in high school, but college is nothing to be afraid about. College is taking a huge step to make
everyone's future brighter, excel to become someone in life, and also administrating on what type of
person they want to be.
High school is very different from college life, but the way that teachers and other students
explained college to me it's a very hard phase of your life. Teachers explained the overwhelming
amount of people making it hard to get to class in time, college professors not letting you enter class
if someone is late, tests to be really hard and having to spend an all–nighter to be able to study to
pass the exam, no time to be able to do stuff with friends, very hard to pay attention in a lecture full
with more than one hundred people, and also they warned about not to take more than 15 hours of
college and have a job at the same time.
As I walk towards my first lecture class every morning the campus is nearly empty all over in–
between the four main building, the sounds of crickets chirping are heard from the silence the
campus brings. Student life isn't seen like I had predicted college life to be. Mostly ten students are
seen every morning walking to

My Life Goals For College
Most of my pre–teen years I thought I was not able to go to college. I thought it was too expensive
and that only the smart people and people who had enough money could go. Until I got to middle
school, I found out about scholarships and how they can really help students of parents with low
income go to college. I wanted to learn more and more about programs that help students like me. I
wanted to make my parents proud but most importantly, myself. I think college is a gateway to a
million possibilities and doing the things you love for the rest of your life. This was the start of my
lifelong goals. I was born in Walla Walla Washington, on September 5th of 2000 but was raised in
Lakewood Washington. I'm the oldest of my three siblings. Both of my parents come from Oaxaca,
Mexico. As the oldest sibling, I never had help with school. This kind of affected me with school.
My grandparents didn't have enough money to pay for my parents' high school education. I was
raised to have responsibilities ate the age of 9, when my parents worked a lot because they needed
money. I now go to Mount Tahoma high school and will be a graduate of class of 2019 next year. I
am hoping that I get enough help to pay for college. I also am the first generation in my family that
will attend college, I used to think I wasn't going to be able to know things about college because
my parents didn't know anything about it, but then I joined a college program that showed me what
college really was.

The Impact Of Greek Life On College Campuses
Greek life plays a major role in colleges and universities all across the United States. Greek life
allows men and women to join an organization and create a long lasting bond, as brothers or sisters,
which they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. College campuses explore and boast about
the positive impacts that Greek life has on students as well as the community around them.
However, even with fraternities and sororities being on college campuses for decades, few people
outside the Greek life community have discovered the real, enduring process that it takes to become
a "brother" or "sister". Throughout my research, I will be focusing on the negative effects that
fraternities and sororities pose upon pledges. This includes hazing ... Show more content on

that Mrs. Culolias ever had with her son before his life was taken after a tragic incident at a
fraternity party. After consuming an enormous amount of alcohol, days later, Jack Culolias was
found at a nearby river. "The coroner determined that his drowning was an accident caused by heavy
drinking and hypothermia" ("HAZING AT COLLEGE FRATERNITIES"). Jack's death was a result
of the fraternity and they hold responsibility for allowing his death to occur. While looking deeper
into this subject, there are many other hazing allegations that ultimately have led to a death in some
way. At the University of Albany, a student was forced, through a pledging ritual, to drink a gallon
of alcohol of his choice. After that night, he was found dead due to alcohol poisoning
("UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY"). It shocks me that with multiple counts of deaths occurring in
fraternities all across the United States, nothing is really being done to solve this issue. Without
immediate attention, fraternities will continue to affect these pledges by either scarring them for life
or even worse, being the sole reason for their

Difference Between School Life And College Life
An Essay on School Life and College Life
There is a great deal of difference between school life and college life.
At school the student has to prepare his daily lessons and may be taken to task for what he has left
undone. But at college he can do his lessons daily, or not at all, as fancy may please or conscience
may dictate. He is left to his own resources; he must understand his difficulties, and find out ways
and means to remove them. He must, for the most part, depend upon himself, and take the help of a
friend or a teacher only as his means and circumstances permit.in one respect however, school life is
more joyous then college life.
A student can run about and exercise his limbs in school more vigorously then at college. The sight
of boys shouting and running down the staircase or the corridors or in the school quadrangle is
something that one will seldom find in a college. College boys are either boisterous and rowdy, or
grave and decorous. They are must behave as grown–up people. Of course, it the college happens to
have its playgrounds, they can go there after college hours and take part in regular games.
Nowadays every college has gymnasium to help student s build the 'body beautiful'. A college, in
other words, many not permit uproarious merriment, but it often gives larger opportunities for
organized games sports.
Another respect in which

My Life In College
Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and
snow. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as well
as dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us will
experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is college.
College for some people can be this once–in–a lifetime experience that creates friendship,
memories, and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress. Regardless
of all of that, college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence, money, and
future careers. All of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life. Bowling Green
and Findlay University both seem to be very sound and reasonable choices; however, Bowling
Green looks to be the better choice due to costs and their business programs. As for Bowling Green,
which is my first choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had a massive campus,
well, at least compared to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and plenty of faculty to go
around for the students. Needless to say that during that first visit, I was blown away and beyond
impressed with everything I saw. So after looking more into it, there are definitely a lot of different
reasons that I was even more inclined to go there. The first thing I looked at was the tuition, which
was a surprising

My Life In College
When I was younger, I feared and thought deeply about the struggles my family and I faced. Today,
those same struggles represent invaluable learning experiences, growth, and perseverance. My
grandmother and parents, whom I live with, are from India. Both my parents juggled two jobs for
many years, so that they could provide for our family. My family and I started out by living in a
one–room apartment. The racial stereotypes and discrimination surrounding us made it even more
difficult to find an identity. However, my parents did not let any obstacle hinder them from
providing a successful future for their children. There is no greater inspiration in my life than their
strong–willed perseverance and hard work. In my family, I am the first to be a college student. As a
first–generation college student, it was challenging at times to navigate through the first years
without guidance, but I quickly learned to efficiently use available resources. Alongside a lifelong
liking for math, I also possessed a keen interest in solving problems that are challenging and require
attention to detail. My passion for computer programming stems from those same interests. The
decision to major in the field of Computer Science now seems very fitting. However, it was not
always so clear. I started my college education during the third year of high school by taking
advantage of the Running Start program at Green River College. At the time, I was certain I wanted
to go into the medical field.

Going To College And The Struggles Of Real Life
Struggles of Real Life
Financial Planning
Going to college is a big deal for some people, college usually means getting out of the town you
grew up in and going on to bigger and better things in life. Some get scholarships to go to their
dream college, others aren't so lucky, they have to take out student loans and get other financial aid
help. There are many challenges about going to college, but money is the biggest challenge of them
all. Having money is the only way to get into college or getting scholarships, but not everyone gets
scholarships. If your parents do not have the money to send you to college, they have to take out
student loans that you have to pay for, for the rest of your life almost. It is challenging to get into the
college that you really want to go to school at if you do not have the money to put yourself through
college.
Going through college is a tough decision, there are so many things that you have to pay for when
you decide to go. I would like to go to Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota or Northwest

Colleges Prepare People For Life Analysis
A topic in higher education that has gained much attention is whether people should go to college.
Many people have misconceptions about college that it is a waste of time, leaves people with debt,
leaves people unprepared for work etc. However, while there are people attending college, many
don't value a liberal arts education. A liberal arts education is a form of education where students are
educated in the social sciences, the natural sciences and the humanities. The main misperception
people have about a liberal arts college is the hard time finding jobs. In whatever field people go for,
a college education is very important for one to have gained knowledge in various levels of courses
which prepares people for jobs and to gain freedom. In "Colleges Prepare People for Life" by

Charles Murray in his "Are Too Many People Going to College?" he says, "Full participation in any
culture requires familiarity with a body of core knowledge, this core knowledge is an important part
of the glue that holds the culture together" (Murray 2017). According to this view, students without
basic cultural literacy are not prepared for a liberal arts education. Students without basic cultural
literacy should attend a vocational school. He says people should get the basics of a liberal arts
education in secondary school. He states, "more people should be getting the basics of a liberal

The Importance Of Choosing My Life In College
The college process can be one that is very long and difficult, especially for student–athletes.
Choosing the right school is a huge decision that will have a big affect on your future with many
factors to consider throughout the process. For me, the three big factors that contributed to my
decision to attend Miami were my swim career, my academic goals, and the amazing people and
staff that make up Miami University. Swimming has been a part of my life since I was six years old,
and it has only become a bigger part of my life as I got older. Interestingly enough, I hated
swimming during the first couple years and if it wasn't for my parents forcing me to stick with it, I
would have quit. But, I started to grow an appreciation for the sport as I made some of my best
friends through my team and having a lot of fun competing in meets. Today, I have made my best
friends through swimming and have had some of my greatest memories through competitions such
as the state meet my senior year when my team won the state meet. My team got a National record
and numerous state records and it was one of the greatest moment of my life and is a big reason why
I decided to continue my swim career in college. During my recruiting trip to Miami, I knew almost
instantly that it was the place for me. The swim team was very close–knit and I knew it was an
environment where I could continue to make some of my closest friends. The coaches and facilities

Does College Prepare You For Life?
Does College prepare you for life? Colleges and Universities are windows of knowledge that many
people try to break, in doing so, people are ready for the next stage of their life. But not many have
the option to go the world where knowledge is everything, and end being a simple worker all his
life. People would judge a person for not having a degree, bachelor and many more. But do they
ever think that colleges or universities are really preparing you for any jobs, does a piece of paper
worth a lot now a days. Freeman Hrabowski wrote an article responding to people that think
educations is a waste of time, and it is called "College Prepare People for life" (Hrabowski). In the
article he mentions many positive thing about going to college and what is the outcome of going to
college. But I believe that, he hasn't done a very good job to explain why college is a good place to
go prepare yourself for the real world. I believe that college is very important for our life, but not
many of us know if we are really learning something while being in college. I feel like colleges or
universities has become a place where we go just to go or try to earn a degree in any field.
Therefore, I believe that colleges doesn't enhance our basic skills, doesn't give us a certainty of us
getting a good job, doesn't give us the hardships of the real world and it isn't a place where everyone
gets treated it equally. Colleges and Universities are places where we go and learn about us and

The hours of credit classes are fixed by the administration in high school, without any flexibility.
Classes are distributed on annual basis. Students get many excuses from missing classes, late

School, teacher manages to take their students to different educational excursion program, visit new
places, parks, etc., whereas these are not done in college life. Parents can check for the grades of
their kids in high school, but in college life, it is considered as privacy. It is easy to make friends in
high school but in college life, it depends on common interest. These are some of the experiences
done by almost every individual in high school life. College, on the other hand, is a choice if one
wants to attend or not. An individual who is attending college life usually pays for his own
education. Since they pay for their own education, they work hard enough to get success in their

College Life Challenges and Success

  • 1. Abusive College Life I am not the traditional college freshman applicant. I am not only the mother of 2 little girls, but also 27 years old. As a little girl I always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian when I grew up. A child of an abusive home, I loved the escape that school provided me. I relished in homework and learning new things. I was often shifted from one abusive situation with my mother, to another abusive situation with my grandparents. At the age of 13 CPS removed me from my mother's care and placed me with my grandparents. My grandparent's home was both emotionally and verbally abusive. My only outlets were school and work, and because of this I struggled with depresion, suicidal thoughts, and self harm. I was desperate for a way out of my home situation. When my mother showed up just before my 18th birthday, near the end of first semester of my senior year, I fell right into her empty promises and manipulative tactics. I prepared myself to move and switch schools. My major educational dilema occured when I got to my new high school and discovered that not only did they not offer a lot of the AP courses I was taking, but they also didn't offer core classes that I needed to complete my academic honors diploma. I was absolutely devestated, but my mother offered to homeschool me. At the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I got married the day after I turned 20 and had my first daughter 2 months before my 21st birthday. My marriage was unhappy, unhealthy, and abusive in a myriad of ways. When I finally developed the courage to leave, I went out in search of what I thought was my only option– a GED. I easily passed the test and gained my GED, but I have never been fully satisfied with that. Several months ago I discovered the Excel Center, an adult high school that would allow me to obtain the final credits I needed to have a core 40 diploma. I jumped at the opportunity. I am currently enrolled and almost have all of my requirements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. College Is Not The Best Years Of Your Life College is NOT the Best Years of Your Life I remember high school graduation like it was yesterday. The bitter–sweet feeling of completing the "rite of passage" in the eyes of most adults. All the exams, projects, and hard work over a four–year time span has now come to an end. Saying goodbye to those classroom friends, the kind of friends you would share homework answers with, but never actually heard from outside of school. It was not easy parting ways with the teachers that you built a personal relationship with as they prepared you for the next step of your life. Graduation night was emotional for everyone, all of the families crying tears of joy in the parking lot afterward knowing that their little babies have now grown up. All of the real, true friends that you grew up with are now going their separate ways for a few months, but don't get too upset, you will see them very soon over Thanksgiving break. Although every graduate had a unique experience that night, I can guarantee each one heard some variation of the phrase "college will be the best four years of your life". Most kids, including myself, believed those well–wishing individuals, but does that commonly used phrase have any truth to it? In today's society, the idea of college is portrayed by the media as a wild party scene where young adults struggle to receive an education due to their long nights spent partying. Most high school seniors were looking forward to the day they could move out of the house and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My College Life College life is hard to adjust to no matter how many motivational speeches you get in life. I knew college wasn't going to be like high school, but it's one thing to say and another to see. I closed one chapter in my life to open what seems to be a whole new book. Once I graduated high school, my life was bombarded with change. Some of the change was pleasurable and the others were heartbreaking. College put emphasis on independents which is something I battle with. Before starting LaGuardia, I was already petrified. All of my friends had already started college and were already taking exams. It felt wrong that I hadn't started already. Having to take 2 hours of my day to make a schedule was already exhausting. I had no idea what the class SYF 101 was which scared me. I asked people if they knew what it might be but not one person did. Once I started the class I found out it was an intro to psychology. I was relieved Nevertheless, I was excited to start PSY 101. I always love learning why people do the things they do. I remember I check rate my professor and nothing popped up for my professor. It made me nervous for my first class which happened to be on a Saturday. All in all my professor turned out to be great and psychology ended up being my favorite class. There was one time in class that I'll never forget. My professor asked us to write a letter to a child in our lives for their 18 birthday. We had to tell them what we wish for them and how they changed us. I remember ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. College : Success, And My Life Is Failure In College College essay An experience that has impacted me and my life is failure. In school we learn about a lot of successful people throughout history. What many people don't know is that a lot of people we study in history weren't always successful starting out. People like Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney and multi billionaire Bill Gates all had trouble on the way to success ! It's humanly normal to fail. Some of the greatest minds in history have failed in order to succeed. Throughout all our lives we have experienced failure, it is a key factor in our lives that makes us more resilient . But what is failure? Failure is the inability to succeed; being unsuccessful. For some failure can either make you or break you, however, it made me into the intelligent, hardworking person I am today. "Giving up is the only sure way to fail".Five years ago that is exactly what I did. In junior high school I failed to uphold the values that I set forth prior to beginning junior high school. I always told myself that I would work hard for my grades, that I would put my all into my work even if I didn't get good grades, and most importantly I would be a strong intelligent young man. Instead I gave up, I slacked off, got my house called every week, and worst of all I acted a fool in class.Ultimately my grades paid the price, and so did I. I was supposed to be mature and well rounded before I left junior high school ,but at the rate I was going I didn't see that for my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kanis Grady's College Life When Kanis Grady graduated from high school, she was told she will have tremendous fun and gain experience with many different people and at various places while in college. Those who gave her this insight on the college experience neglected to tell her that life gets more challenging than high school. In high school, Kanis Grady knew her surroundings, family was there to help her, and the work load was not as challenging as it is now. Kanis Grady feels that her college life is nothing similar to high school life, the food, the environment, and the work load is difficult. The transition from high school to college is a major adjustment. Kanis Grady has transitioned well to her university's environment, including food, but she cannot seem ... • 6. Why Is College Necessary For A Successful Life? Everyone defines success in his or her own way due to his or her personality based on what he or she wants to accomplish in life. For one it may be exaggerant amounts of money, a big house, or fame, while for another it could be being close with his or her family, food on the table, or spiritual happiness. The claims that college is necessary for a successful life weighs heavily on every person's definition, but the most basic form of success has to be simply living. College may seem like the ultimate key to success, granting undeniable career opportunities, sustainable income, and reliable security; but recent studies have shown that with our rapidly evolving society, there are more and more reasons to not attend college. • 7. My College Life Experience My college life experience started in 2016, when I finally decided what it was I going to become. College will not only help me with my own personal goals, but it will help with preparing for my future career. Marketing Management is what I am studying for and I know a few things that I expect to learn while educating myself on this specific subject. There are, of course, many new things I am looking forward too when getting my diploma and degree. Once I receive my degree from Coastal Pines Technical College, I will want to achieve great things in my life and make sure that I keep trying once I get there. Once I receive the degree and I can get a job that I vision to have, I will then learn about more about financial stability. I expect to learn about not only marketing management, but also subjects surrounding the subject at hand. I will expect to learn how to speak to everyone professionally in the business. Learning to speak to my coworkers will consist of not only in the flesh, but in emails as well. With this learning experience, there will be a huge involvement of entrepreneurship and small business management. The year I have been going to college I have received my certificate for Small Business Management and Retail Merchandise Management. I expect to be educated quite well on everything needed for the job I hope to have in the future. With my time at Coastal Pines Technical College, I will be most excited about learning every detail of marketing management. The classes I have taken, business law was my favorite subject. It was very interesting learning the different laws in the government and what one can do in any case they end up not just in marketing. Another subject that caught my eye was the way the store is set up and why because it answered many of questions I have had about the arrangements of a store. I am excited about knowing more details about my major than I knew before. A subject I fear but I am eager to take is accounting. I believe the reason why is because a lot of students say that the class is very hard, but I always love a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. College Admissions Essay: My Life After College During my younger years as a child, I always found myself in front of the television watching doctors performing operation procedures. My mom never understood how I could just sit and watch all of the cutting and blood spilling, but not once did she feel that I was weird. For Halloween I dressed as a doctor, and when people asked what did I dream to become after college, I would always reply, "A doctor." Two of my closest girlfriends gave birth and I was lucky and grateful to have been in the delivery room witnessing blessings entering into the world. Both times, instead of standing beside them holding their hands, I was down by the delivery crew watching everything and was in extreme excitement. At that point, I told myself I knew what I wanted to do and that was going to medical school; at least I thought. I have always known that it is extremely important to have a focus in life and become someone successful. For my senior year, I changed schools only to dance on the school's drill team. Lanier High School was a school in the ghetto and was frowned upon where I lived, but little did I know that this school was a challenge academically. Lanier showed me that I was not being pushed to my limits and that the teachers really taught and the kids really wanted to learn. I was placed in AP courses ... • 9. The Importance Of College In Your Daily Life College is very beneficial to your daily life. College can be very beneficial to your everyday life for example College degree holders earned $58,500 dollars a year, while diploma holders earned $23,900. In my opinion I think that college is pretty much worth the money because college helps you on make that money you used on it back.College also helps on getting better jobs you can enjoy so that you can make money doing something you love. For example In its most recent survey, the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that for 10 broad degree categories ranging from engineering to communications, 2016 graduates are projected to have an average salary of $50,556. That's up 5% from 2014, when new grads earned an average of $48,127. In my perspective I believe that you make a lot more money in college than you do than a high school grad.Because high school grads earn an average hourly wage of $10.89 and a annual income of $22,700 for a full–time, full–year worker.and finally I believe that College is very beneficial to your daily life by helping you with money problems. Is college really worth the time you put in it.is it worth it They say many successful people never graduated from college and that many jobs, especially trades jobs, do not require college degrees.leading me to believe that college might not be worth the time and effort that will lead me to a better future.for example just look at bill gates he never went to college and got his degree and look ... • 10. My Life In College I am very thankful to have been born into my family. With exception's such as Yale, or Harvard my parents were more than happy to send me to whatever college that interested me. As a child I have gotten to experience things such as vacations to Disney World, waterparks, and going to the beautiful beaches of Mexico, and Dominican Republic. These are opportunities that many people may never get a chance to have in their life. Which is why through the past eighteen years I have been taught, and expected by my family, and peers to do something big in my life in order to continue living, and someday provide the same lifestyle. The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) was the right choice for me because I did not know for sure what I wanted to major in, or what general path I wanted to take. Although I was eager to get the full college experience of decorating the dorm to going to big parties. I had to make a trade off to wait for those things and go to CSM first because I was not about to waste my family's money, and rush into a university only to find out that they do not have my major. So many people have told me their story of how they went a year or two into college, and decided to change their major because that was something they didn't want to do for the rest of their life. CSM was my way of ensuring that I would have more flexibility , and a higher chance of getting it right the first time. Another reason I am so fixated on getting it right the first time is because I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Realities of College Life Essay As I graduated high school, I thought college would just be yet another four years of high school, and I was wrong. College opens many new doors in a young man or woman's life. There are new responsibilities and pressures that you will have to deal with, and with more freedom these responsibilities and pressures can be difficult to handle. College has changed a great deal over the years and these changes, such as more freedoms, make college a much more challenging experience. You need to start preparing for college now by making yourself more responsible and having more self–control. Although you think college is merely partying with easy classes on the side, I have experienced pressures and work loads that make the experience challenging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They did not ever want to think they would change jobs. They want to know what is going to happen in their lives till they get to their prepaid grave (292). Zinsser believes that students need to stop worrying so much about the pay of their jobs. He wants students to study the subject that interests them, not which career pays the most. There is definitely one unifying aspect that is the same between college now and then and that is there are pressures. In college life, students face many pressures. One of my biggest stressors was keeping my student scholarship. After coming in to college with a 3.3 grade point average, I knew that keeping a 3.0 in college, for my scholarship, was going to be a challenge that I had not yet experienced. This caused me to work even harder and sometimes even too hard. The scholarship played a large factor in choosing Baldwin Wallace as my school of choice, so retaining my reward is of the utmost importance to both me personally, and my parents financially. As I began classes I realized that the work load seemed a lot larger than high school, and sometimes as if it were never going to end. I soon realized how to balance my time between school work and making grades, as well as meeting new people and having fun. There are many enjoyable things that make college the great experience it has been so far, so finding an equilibrium of hard work and good times has been one the best new attributes I have ... • 12. Why College Is A Successful Life With A Career As of recently, the validity of college has been questioned, is it really necessary to have a college education to be successful? In the past, education was the key to a successful life with a career. However, as of recently, some people don't even have to earn the much coveted bachelor's degree to make as much money as a person that went to school to earn such degree. So the question is what is the purpose of college? Is it really worth all the effort, time, sweat, and tears? Even though times have changed and the reason for going to college has taken a financial turn. I'm a firm believer that college certainly has its purpose aside from financial. The person that pushed me to go to college was my mother. In an informal interview I asked her what she thought on the purpose of college. She immediately told me that it was a vital element for me to have a successful future and life (Aguilar). In a poll performed by pewsocialtrends.com "Nearly every parent surveyed (94%) says they expect their child to attend college... ("Is College Worth It?")" For some time the purpose of higher education has been debated. On one side people insist that college is sort of a "coming to age rite" where student could learn and grow in many ways. According to the survey performed by Pew research, "Thirty–nine percent of people believe that college, main purpose is to open your senses and mind to new things and new ideas" ("Purpose of College Education"). • 13. How will college change my life "How will college change my life?" Colleges are institutions of higher learning; I would go to college simply to make more money. College could be described as a rite of passage, where future working men and women step out from sheltered childhood lives into an independent place of learning. It is different from the original schooling most children receive as there is a more in–depth workload that requires more studying. College will change my life as I am open to many fields of study, expanding my mind and giving a glimpse of what to expect when I step out into the working world. Flexibility with learning and providing me with the option to choose what interests me, being treated as an adult by taking responsibility for one's own actions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As college students, we as students must have a fierce ambition to accomplish a balance between a healthy, steady social life and a bright academic future. Communication is an important tool in life, not just inside college that broadens our horizons and makes us more intelligent generally. The future working men and women who enter college are adults and will be treated as such. An adult is one who has matured to know what is right and what is wrong. The importance of a rule is a line between right and wrong that many places including colleges have as a guiding tool. College students who enter are expected to follow rules as the rules are meant to protect us and set a guideline. Adults also know how to be self–sufficient, being able to do their work, without anyone's help or stealing someone else's work: plagiarism. College is where we are expected to perform to the best of our abilities because as students we have a fierce ambition to get ahead by earning a degree.
