Nvc Principles
1. The setting in which I had this past communication that I felt I was not very successful as I
wished happened last semester in the fall. I remember it being a cold, stormy, and raining Saturday
afternoon in my cozy apartment. I was sitting on my bed talking to my roommate about how the
apartment environment needed to change with the other roommates and us. After an hour of
discussing what we wanted to address with our other two roommates, we decided that it was time to
actually work on the problems with the them. Nervously my roommate and I walked across the
apartment to their bedroom. We both exchanged looks and took a long deep breath before knocking
on their door. The other two girls answered their door, but appeared shocked and confused ... Show

One situation in which I would feel that it would be most difficult to apply the NVC principles for
me would be when I am fighting with my mother. Personally it would be a challenge to stay so calm
in my exchange with her, because I know that she will always be there for me regardless of what
happens or is said. Also, the fact that she knows me like no one else makes it even more difficult to
try and change the way I communicate with her, even if it's for the better. In the past, I have not
been very successful in two NVC principles. Those two NVC principles are statement of feeling and
statement of need. Whenever, I have a conversation with a person and I need to let them know how I
am feeling, it never comes out the way I mean it to. A part of that issue has to do with me using the
wrong words to describe my feelings. A situation where I had a difficult time applying statement of
feeling was during an interaction I had with my boyfriend. My boyfriend accidently double booked
on our date night, which resulted in him wanting to reschedule our it. Usually I wouldn't have
minded moving our date night, but I had been planning this night for weeks. He didn't seem to
understand why I was so upset, and I remember telling him that I felt so abandoned and disrespected
that he forgot about it. At the time of this interaction, I just expressed what I was feeling blindly.
However, after analyzing this communication, I realize that I was not using the NVC principles. I
should have used statement of feeling in the NVC way. For example, I should have said "I feel sad
and depressed that you forgot our date night. I was beginning to wonder if it's not a priority for you
to have these special nights." From that experience I learned that I can improve on this NVC
principle is by telling the person my emotions and/or physical responses rather than using thoughts
or interpretations masquerading as

Motivation, Self And Unconscious Interactions
Motivation is literally the desire to do things. According to the Business Dictionary, motivation is
also the "internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continuing
interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal."
Furthermore, conscious and unconscious interactions are the reasons for motivation. These
conscious and unconscious interaction factors include: intensity of desire/need, incentive/reward
value of the goal, and expectations of the individual and of his or her peers. As a whole, these are
the causes for a person behaving a particular way (Business Dictionary, 2016). It is because of
motivation, or the lack of, that Joe and his supervisor are in this tough situation that needs answers
to how motivate people, motivate themselves, and how to solve conflict resolution between staff
members.
Joes is a loyal employee and an impeccable worker of 10 years at a small rural clinic. However, Joe
is being transferred to one of the larger urban clinics. Since his arrival, the supervisor of the clinic
has moved him around so much that it's making it impossible for Joe to familiarize himself with the
clinic. Moreover, he is being treated as a new as a new employee and the staff has not made it easy
for him. Now, Joe's attitude has become negative and his motivation is at an all–time low. The
supervisor does not want to fire him, but needs to come up with a solution that will benefit and

The site also provides article to make the task of hiring a professional easier. For example, users
find information on average babysitter rates and how to go about researching and interviewing a
babysitter. Furthermore, learn about babysitter training and many other things with a quick visit to
the site.
Parents find they can search by availability, as a babysitter is only helpful if they can watch the
children when the parents have somewhere else to be. If they cannot, the other characteristics won't
be of any concern. Even when a sitter is required on short notice, the site can be of help. Experience
must also be considered when hiring someone to work with children, and a baby differs greatly from
a pre–teen, thus this information also needs to be provided.
Personality isn't something that can truly be evaluated online, yet parents can often get a feel for a
person and how they will interact with their children and their unique personalities by reading the
information provided. Price, language fluency, educational level and certifications may also play a
part in the decision making process. Care.com recognizes this and provides information on these
variables, when supplied by the care

Myan daycare center picking the child up. The Cp advised Selena that any point that she feels that

Goodall, who is Selena's adoptive mother approached the CP and asked if she can speak with the CP
privately inside at which the CP agreed to meet with her. Mrs. Goodall reported to the CP about her
concerns as to how Selena cares for the child. She stated that the child is not properly care and
supervised. She went on to inform the CP about an incident whereas Selena had left the child on the
top of stairs to go downstairs rather than being with to ensure that she does fall and hurt herself. The
CP again asked as to how she has not called SCR and her response was that she is afraid of Selena,
she says, " Miss. I am 73 years old and my husband is 76. Selena is a lot stronger. She even pushed
and now, I do not feel comfortable in my own home. I lock my door. Miss." Also, she reports that
Selena sometimes does not provide Myan with a proper breakfast before the child arrive to daycare.
Before, the CP can ask another question, the CP met Mr. Goodall. It appears that Mr. Goodall has
some underlying medical issues as Mr. Goodall have trouble speaking, and he tends to tremble as he
attempted to shake the CP hand. Mrs. Goodall informed the CP that her husband has had a heart

Assignment 1: Project Manager Scenarios
Rebecca and Ryan find themselves in a situation that could happen to any of us. Rebecca and Ryan
work for Craig the project manager. When Craig is promoted, Rebecca becomes project manager.
Ryan remains working on the project for Rebecca, his former equal who is now his boss. It is not
surprising to find out his motivation drops and everyone on the team sees it. Rebecca, perhaps
because she is inexperience, becomes angry with Ryan's behavior. She does not know how to deal
with Ryan, what leadership style she should embrace or what she could she do to motivate him.
Since Ryan may be getting a new job, can Rebecca simply wait him out? Probably not.
As project manager, Rebecca is in a great position to get the best out of Ryan. Part of her role is to
develop and manage her team. Working through the development of her team will allow Rebecca to
learn more about what motivates Ryan and what will make him a strong, contributing member of
her team. The steps she takes to develop her team will benefit all of the team ... Show more content

employees are motivated by an opportunity to grow, accomplish, and apply professional skills to
meet new challenges. She can provide Ryan and the other team members with challenges and
opportunities. She should also provide timely feedback positive and remedial to keep the team
moving in the right direction. It is important to use open communication, develop trust among the
team members, manage conflicts and encourage collaborative problem solving and decision making.

him into his absentee father's home. To be sure, any move that Alejandro would make–to another
foster home, to his mother, or with his father–will be a traumatic experience. However, the potential
of a great deal of trauma exists by moving Alejandro in with his father. By DCFS considering to
move Alejandro in with his father, this would be allowing him to move in with someone who has
not expressed any inkling of care for the boy (emotional abandonment and withdrawal of love)
(Frankel, 1998). Also, the chance that such a move would evoke trauma stemming from living with
the believed aggressor of violence against his mother, exists. Lastly, moving in with his father would
greatly alter the plan of reunification of Alejandro to Ms. C., in which the child's system has been

Reflection Paper On Group Work
The work that we have done so far has been great experience for all of us. And I think that it will
give us an advantage when we are looking for jobs, because experience will take you farther than
any number of classes or research when looking for a job. There is no doubt that we will face
similar situations after we graduate, and we need to be prepared to handle them. Because of the way
that the projects are structured we are all able to take turns managing the group, something that
many of us have no experience doing. However I think that there are communication issues between
the editorial and advertising sides, more specifically the lack of communication that is taking place.
For the most part, our portion of the project is going well, there have been some really strong ideas
put on the table. We have a group of people that are good managers as well as good followers,
which is a perfect balance to have when working with such a large group. While it is good to be a
strong leader, it is also beneficial to know how to follow, otherwise there would just be a group of
leaders and nothing would ever get done. This class is showing us how to find that balance by
having all of us rotate through management positions throughout the different stages of the project.
To my knowledge there are not very many of us that have ever worked in a group this large, having
experience doing so will be valuable later in our careers. Something that I have noticed with the
setup of the teams

The Safety Standards Of Mercury
Mercury is extremely dangerous to humans due to its extreme conditions not suitable to human life.
Missions to Mercury must be conducted with infallible safety standards to prevent incidents such as
what has happened in the past. These safety standards must consider all possible circumstances in
which measures must be taken. When doing missions on Mercury safety should be the number one
priority. Before creating safety standards, it is important to first acknowledge issues and situations
that has arisen in the past. Awhile back, a team of scientist were sent to complete a mission on
Mercury. Accompanied with them was a robot that went by the name of Speedy. Speedy was a
multifunctional robot built to assist the scientist with whatever they needed. Speedy was especially
useful against Mercuries harsh conditions. He was able to maneuver the surface where humans
could not. Before arriving on Mercury, the team knew they would need selenium in order to repair
their photo–cell banks. These banks are important in keeping the base on Mercury from burning up.
Speedy was capable of retrieving this selenium, but was the only one capable of doing so. This is
because he was the only robot sent with the team. The safety flaw in only having one robot to
complete a life or death task is enormous. Standards at the time did not take into account flaws in
technology. On the day of the mission, Speedy was sent out to retrieve the selenium. The scientist
found it rather strange that he had not

Two Different Causes Of Interpersonal Conflict
QUESTION 2
1) Examine two different causes of interpersonal conflict; evaluate the potential impact these causes
might have on a) the individual team members and b) the successful achievement of the proposed
project.
Lack of information or inaccurate information:
The lack of information is did not get enough information and can be interpreted or misinformation
decisions or opinions vary among individuals, and this leads to problems due to the use of different
sources of information. The lacks of information have an impact on the individual, leading to
conflict between individuals because of personal differences and conflict is to understand the facts
and not attack the person. Also lead to a decline in the performance of the team lies in the project
and the project will be not successful.

Co–operative, Unassertive
Co–operative, Unassertive is good strategy to resolve the conflict of personal difference. It is must
be having the needs and requests of others depending on the needs and special requests. Must
maintain friendly relations at times depending on the needs of the person and this leads to low self–
esteem and others and take advantage of them. Conflict happens due to personal differences is
difficult for the individual to solve. Importance of maintaining personal relationships is a good
worker than any other factor. Most useful when the issue is not important to the one accommodating
and it must be solved quickly.
Cooperation
To solve the conflict for lack information the team members should be collaborating in the team.
Cooperation is dividing the work between the team equal to avoid the conflict. The team should read
too much in the book, magazines and internet in order to get a lot of useful information that will
help to complete the project without any conflict in the team

Being able to work in teams as a medical assistant is helpful because in any situation I would need
the assistance of my co–workers. Being able to break information down to where the patient or
patients can understand is a wonderful skill to posses because I will be dealing with so many
cultures, ethnicity, and age groups. A lot of people do not understand when doctors and even
medical assistants use certain terms, so when they are spoken to where they can understand, it
makes them feel better just knowing what is going on instead of feeling more confused than what
they was when they came in. And also it lets them know that you care enough to take the time and
effort to make sure they understand. According to Engel (2000), Kamien explains that "the task of
general practice should go well beyond simply dealing with a patient's presenting complaint" (p.4).
The same explanation applies to adapting to change as a medical assistant in the sense that I should
be able to listen and adapt to each patient's needs that I come in contact with. Being able to adapt to
change is a plus because as a medical assistant I will be dealing with new equipment, new
procedures, and different co–workers that might be able to show me better ways to treat the patient's
complaints. As a medical assistant, being able to adapt to change goes hand and hand. I would have
to be able to adjust to the problems that each person

Essay about Diversity Programs at the New England Aquarium
In the case of "Diversity Programs at the New England Aquarium", all four frames – structural,
human resources, political, and symbolic– show a different perspective of the underlying
management issues surrounding the New England Aquarium. The issues that surround the structural
frame are based around the aquarium's goals and mission, as well as the actual organizational
structure and coordination. The human resource frame will be used to view the relationships and
balance between the needs of the organization and the needs of the people involved at the aquarium.
Next, we will look at the political frame in order to better understand "the battle" for the tight
resources, and the political arena that exists in the aquarium. Lastly, we will ... Show more content

The next management issue, within the structural frame, lies in the structural tensions at the
aquarium. There are two design issues that are in the core of the organizational structure:
differentiation, and integration (Bolman p49). The first issue with differentiation comes up with the
interns in the organization. There was a time where the interns where not making well use of time,
and it wasn't till the intern's responsibilities were restructured that the interns were able to make use
of the time, and make the most out of their positions. The next group that had difficulties was the
finding proper and suitable work for the incoming diversity program students. This was, in part, due
to the fact that there was no planning or specific program created for the unskilled students.
However, the next year there was a quick growth in the number of students in the program making
their tasks more difficult to specialize. Specialization of the student's jobs was one of the initiatives
that Williams planned for the new incoming students. These included creating specific jobs –with
goals– such as education assistants and Teen Ambassadors.
Another management issue that was apparent in the organization was the coordination of the
aquarium's structure. The aquarium was a classic laterally coordinated organization, and there were
issues that arose when the students came into an

Essay on Nonviolent Resistance Helped by Communication...
Non–violent activism has played a critical role in several transitions from authoritarianism like, the
withering away of the Soviet Union and the Apartheid in South Africa. For many activists, non–
violent action has become an effective way to achieve social or political goals. Peter Ackerman and
Christopher Kruegler, the authors of "Strategic Nonviolent Conlfict: The Dynamics of People Power
in the Twentieth Century," mention how the appearance of non–violent action as a weapon of choice
in resolving conflict is continuously increasing. However, social activists must pay close attention to
the relationship between new, mainstream and social media outlets and social movements due to the
fact that the success and outcomes of several social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gaining positive media coverage is crucial, as social movements rely on the media for mobilisation
of political support, legitimisation in mainstream discourse and to broaden the scope of conflicts.
Positive media coverage is important because one can argue that today many people are replacing
opinions as facts due to the media's ability to dupe the masses. In the article "The News Media's
Influence on Peace Operations" written by, Warren Strobel, he describes this phenomena as the
"CNN effect." He also discusses the "CNN curve" which is the ability to influence public opinion by
broadcasting images of starvation, or other tragedies on news networks. The ability for networks to
reach a vast audience with strong and influential messages has been facilitated through an increase
in technology, the internet and other communication devices. Messages are instantaneously
displayed on TV screens, online newspapers and pod casts, allowing for people all over the world to
have instant access to critical events. An example of mainstream media's effect on grassroots
activism, is the White March that took place in Belgium on October 20, 1997. The White March was
a massive demonstration that included about 300,000 citizens. The demonstration surrounded the
controversy of the arrest of murder Marx Dutroux. Stefaan Walgrave and Jan Manssesn studied the
media coverage of this demonstration and concluded that, the media itself contributed to a majority

My Aspiration At Work Worth Doing
My aspiration in life is to earn an honest living by providing health care to those in need of such
attention. With this career path, I believe that I will have both an exciting and rewarding occupation.
Helping those in need by promoting health and preventing disease I something that I found
interesting ever since I was little. For when I was younger, I was in the hospital quite often for
countless reasons, and knowing that I was going to be perfectly okay lead my impressionable self to
gaining the utmost respect for those in the health care business and eventually leading me to pursue
a career in the field. Ultimately, I feel that the profession will allow for me to contribute to society
and in doing so I remain confident that I will learn a great deal from such as occupation as one in
health care. For Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is
the chance to work hard at work worth doing". With this quote in mind, health care appeals to me
and appears to be the true career field for me and is my calling.
At the beginning of the semester, it was revealed to the Hicks Honors students our Strong Interest

A leader is cultivated and groomed to make the best potential shine through the grimmest picture
with decisiveness. A committed leader will prioritize essential needs and wants, allowing focused
results to steer the mission. A leader embodies the Air Force in every aspect and relays those traits to
subordinates through tough love and determination. A firm hold on the task at hand can make or
break the efforts put forth to complete it. My time in the military has shown me that I have a need
for order and discipline. I want to instill this trait into my subordinates and affectively give them the
tools to succeed and complete the mission both home and abroad. I lead from the front and never
leave those willing to strive for betterment. My plan involves completing my degree and obtaining
the knowledge level needed to effectively take care of and train my replacements in true values,
pride in ownership and family values. A stepping stone is that anyone can learn from anyone, even if
it's what not to do. I challenge myself to right all the wrong styles of leadership that I have

Personal Reflection In Communication
According to the Thomas–Kilmann quiz in our iBook I scored highest in the following areas:
compromising, collaboration, and accommodations. Whereas my lowest, and nearly nonexistent
areas are competing and avoiding. As a speech/theatre major, the topic of conflict resolution isn't
new to me. I've done many reflection papers just like this one and have taken many similar quizzes.
For the most part I would agree with the results they're very similar to most of the quizzes like these
I have taken, including this one. In life I believe everything is about wearing different hats.
Depending on the company and setting depends on the hat you wear. For instance, how you act
around your friends and how you act at work isn't the same. At work, you wear your professional
hat, or at least I would hope so. Same goes for conflict resolution.
When it comes to conflict resolution I would like to think that I fit a few categories rather than just
one in particular. I mean, I soon will be teaching communications, so I would hope I am somewhat
versatile at least. I know for certain that I don't avoid conflict, and I can be extremely head strong
and vocal. In my life, it has proven to be both a blessing and a curse. My concern with my inability
to avoid a situation is that I might come off too strong. I have been told on more than one occasion
that I come off as intimidating, no matter how friendly I try to be. I could see this causing potential

By pairing one–on–one with a different teen each class, each teen had the chance to verbally release
their frustrations. After doing this, the teen and I would then search for a word that best described
the feeling that they were experiencing, and then deduce better ways they could have responded to
the situation. This experience is meaningful, firstly because I not only was a

My Proposed Plan For Life
Holley Lentner Events My Proposed Plan for Life in College While attending the University of
North Florida for my first semester, I have learned several new things about myself, like empathy,
through classes like Honors Colloquium. This class, in particular, has provided me with experiences
that will aid me further along in life, like our service projects. Additionally, through the assignments
of this course I have come to realize the skills and abilities that are in need improvement in order for
me to be successful at the occupation I intend to pursue. My aspiration in life is to earn an honest
living by providing health care to those in need of such attention. With this career path, I believe
that I will have both an exciting and rewarding occupation. Helping those in need by promoting
health and preventing disease is something that I found interesting ever since I was little. For when I
was younger, I was in the hospital quite often for countless reasons, and knowing that I was going to
be perfectly okay lead my impressionable self to gain the utmost respect for those in the healthcare
business and eventually lead me to pursue a career in the field. Ultimately, I feel that this profession
will allow for me to contribute to society and in doing so, I remain confident that I will learn a great
deal from an occupation in health care. For a great man once said, "Far and away the best prize that
life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing" (Theodore

How to Promote a Website through Social Media
Connection. This has constantly been the name of the game, especially in business. Companies who
neglect promotion do not last. They stop becoming relevant and their companies rot slowly, their
clients moving to other companies, the owners losing life, losing passion.
History has proven that smaller nations survived because of pacts and great nations have remained
solid and sturdy because of concrete connections with other nations.
The growth of social media has been the make or break of today's companies. The number of virtual
assistants increased and continues to increase because of the demand to keep up with the social
trends and stay pertinent against competitors. We base efficiency on the amount of website traffic
we generate and the response to the content we provide.
What steps do we take to take advantage from the social media platform? (REPHRASE)
1. Be a spy It is a human need to interact with other humans. The number of threads in the internet is
a proof of this. You'll see threads on almost about anything; from pets to food, to conspiracy
theories. The point is, public pulse has never been more available. You do not need to scatter survey
forms on the street and harass people to answer them. The talk of the town will reach virtual space.
Listen to what the people are saying. Listen to what your promoters are offering. Then, strategize a
plan to execute.
2. Make catchy, persuasive content Promotion is like fishing. You need the right bait for the right
fish.

The Social And Social Problems And Effects Of Smartphones
Nearly all of today's society has a smartphone in hand. As a whole, we depend on this phone in the
same aspect as we did a baby blanket in our childhood. Major mental health issues, such as lack of
social skills, memory problems, and stress are due to this technology. These are some of the biggest
concerns when it comes to owning a phone, unfortunately, the effects are not fully realized. These
devices have brought several problems in user's lives, despite supposedly making it easier. Everyday
human social interactions are suffering due to the part smartphones play. Furthermore, being
connected through this technology is something that is bragged upon, but users are not as connected
as they would like to think. Unfortunately this constant communication gives a false sense of
connection, because when they are face to face there is little interaction. Turkle states that
communication between family members when "Parents text and do email...while children complain
about not having their parents full attention" ( 3.) Parents are no longer paying attention to what
their child is doing whether it be a baseball game or dance competition they are overwhelmed with
demands on their time. Walsh et al. says that the behavioral reaction is a need to "compulsively
check their device[s] for any messages or updates" (qtd. In Hardwood et al. 268). It is not just
parents that have this problem. All of society is too busy looking at their smartphone to notice what
is going on around them.

Personal Reflection For Personal Assignment
The purpose behind this assignment from my own understanding is for a couple of reasons. One of
them is to help improve and practice report writings/responses, while another reason is to express
what we believe our strengths and weaknesses will be in this chosen career path. This assignment is
beneficial because it will prepare us for future writing assignments in the program, and better
understand how we will be graded. It will also help us reflect on what skills we think we can bring
to the table, along with weaknesses we can improve on. It will be a useful assignment to reflect on
my own personal strengths, and will be a beneficial tool to my success in this program. This career
choice (specifically EMS dispatching) is something I'm hoping I could be exceptional at because of
my experience working as an EMT. I attended PMA in 2014 where I learned a variety of useful
skills from great instructors that could easily crossover to dispatching. I then mastered these skills
out on the field, working hand in hand with Emergency Services! I like to think with this experience
I can bring quick decision–making skills to the table; as well as limited medical knowledge for
certain situations when necessary. I have experience in triaging, and can handle stressful situations
exceptionally well while staying emotionally–detached. In fact, nothing was more thrilling to me
then heading to a call full lights and sirens! There's no better feeling than conquering those tough
decisions, and knowing you've done all you can to help someone. I also bring excellent
communication skills to the table due to my large personality and theatre experience in high school.
When I say large personality, I don't mean it in an obnoxious way. It's more so in a personable way,
where I love talking to people and am outgoing. It's helpful to have when your trying to keep
someone on the phone during a tough call, or when you need to keep a person calm in a stressful
situation. It's important to be able to talk to people without being shy or nervous, and having them
feel like they can trust and rely on you. This is also an important skill to have when you work
alongside other coworkers, you need to be able to speak up and get along with your peers

Minefield Research Paper
One activity that we will be explaining is known as "Minefield." This is a popular activity used in
many types of groups, who desire to strengthen trust and communication skills. It is also a flexible
activity that can be adjusted for all age groups and various settings, preferably an open area. The
goal for this is to get from point A to point B, but the catch is that there are multiple items, or
"mines," scattered around the route, and you are blindfolded. In order to, make it to point B, you
have to put trust into your partner, to lead you safely to the finish line. Your partner is not allowed to

This is an enjoyable activity which can be done in almost any area desired, preferably an open
space, and can result in teams connecting in a different way. The three legged race is a fun, simple
game that needs to have teamwork in order to be successful. The materials you will need are scarfs
or fabric strips and two ropes. The scarfs or fabric strips must be long enough for you to be able to
tie the player's legs together. Divide each player into pairs of two, matching players of similar height
and build. Have each player stand beside each other and wrap their arms around each other's waist.
Than, tie the players inside legs together (the person on the left's right leg and the person on the
right's left leg). After you have successfully tied the players legs together, use the rope to mark the
starting line and the finish line. Have all the pairs of players line up at the starting line, on your mark
have all players walk as quickly as they can to the finish line. The winners will be the pair that can
cross the finish line first. This builds teamwork because you need productive communication with
your partner to be able to predict their move. You also need cooperation between your partner to

directly apply to the clinical setting. Objectives that I met were objective 2 and 5. I meet objective 2,
communicating effectively with staff, by calling you and letting you know about my situation. Even
though I didn't want to call in, I knew it was best to discuss my options, therefore, I was effective in

1) Start studying for my second health assessment exam, which is on November 3rd. The last N317

study with a classmate because we can quiz each other.
2) I plan to get more clinical skills checked off. I will do this by choosing a second resident that

3) I plan to be more confident in giving immunizations to avoid the push and poke technique. I plan
to do this by practicing immunization techniques at least 5 times a day.
I was able to meet my first goal as I studied at least two hours each day and had a study buddy. I
was unable to meet my second and third goal as I wasn't at clinical due to a family emergency,
therefore, I am transferring these to my next week goals. However, I was able to practice

The Ideal Business Model Of A Company
Part Ⅱ emphasizes opportunity and the importance of it. The author uses a whole sector to talk about
opportunity, so we can understand how crucial opportunity is to a company. For a CEO as me, I
need to understand how to not only seek opportunities but also seize them.
Ideal business is a dream for a company. It is the best business model in the most ideal environment
for a company, and the most optimal results for the company from that business model. A company
can set a direction based on the ideal business, and adjust the route to the ideal result. However, the
ideal business is just a model, and the company cannot regard it as a plan.
In order to set an ideal business, the first thing a CEO needs to know is the "dream" of the company:
what is the goal for our company in a period of time? The goal should be realistic and have some
difficulties to achieve, because if it is too easy to reach, the employees will not try their best, and the
company cannot develop. To set the goal, the CEO needs to discuss with the directors of each
department and ask about their advice. They do not need to provide a complete plan. Instead, they
need to tell the CEO what are their ideal markets and results for their departments. After
summarizing their ideal models, he needs to create the ideal business for the company and discuss it
with the shareholders. Sometimes, the shareholders can be unrealistic, so the CEO needs to
convince them that their ideal business should be realistic and

Change, Innovation, And Sustainability
Change, innovation, and sustainability are common terms in the current global economy.
Organizations need to keep the pace or lead the way to maintain its relevancy in the market and
keep the competition at bay. Thus sustainability is the key to leading by innovation and change, to
improve products and services, in order to remain at the top. Organizations achieve sustainability
when they have the ability to develop, innovate, and implement changes that would lead to long
term success (Froschheiser, 2014). For organizations to implement and commit to the constant
change environment, or organic evolution of change, all stakeholders need to be willing and
informed participants.
Organic Evolution of Change
Creating an organizational mentality of change, is the core of a sustainable organization
(Christensen, 2014). Establishments' have been faced with the necessity to transition from the
traditional approach of stability, which ruled previous to the advancement in technology and
globalization, or risk irrelevancy or even destruction (Freytag & Hollsen, 2010). Change is provoke
by need. Leadership must identify organizational, stakeholder, and market needs to identify reasons
for change (Bisoux, 2015, Mento, et al, 2002, Simonds, 2013, Todd, et al, 2014, Stanleigh, 2013,
Perlman & Leppert, 2013). Identifying organizational strengths and weaknesses would ensure that
the resources needed for the culture of change are available (Peck, et al, n.d.). Once leaders have

William Ury 's Take On Peace And Conflict Studies
William Ury 's take on peace and conflict studies includes using the ten roles to support and create
the Third Side. Each of the roles has a specific job in promoting peace and interrupting conflict.
Together the roles will help end conflict in the world if used correctly, Reading through Ury 's book,
I was able to make many connections to what we learned in class. The Third Side supports the
change for peace we need to see in this role, and we will all find ourselves in one of the ten roles.
The Third Side applies to this class and will make a change in the future. The first three roles focus
on conflict prevention. These roles look to address the root of conflict and lay down the foundation
for peaceful conflict resolution. The first role is the Provider, who enables people to meet their
needs which include food, safety, identity, and freedom. At the beginning of the semester, we read
The Dynamics of Conflict Resolution by Bernard Mayer. Mayer writes that at the center of conflict
is human needs. Mayer also points out, "Conflict cannot be transformed or settled unless these needs
are addressed in some way". The role of the Provider focuses on addressing these needs and
enabling others to recognize and meet their own. Mayer believes the needs are based in five forces
that are the sources of conflict. The five forces are communication, emotions, history, structure, and
value. With communication, humans are unable to perfectly communicate. The Provider knows

Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis
When placed somewhere new and confusing, filled with unfamiliar sights and sounds, people will
desire to make sense of their environment, no matter their previous conditioning as to what is right
or wrong. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, young boys are stranded somewhere totally new, both
in its physical and social environments, and once civilization is stripped away, a clear dividing line
separates those who fight the savagery from those who embrace it. The physical environment of the
island greatly impacted the characters and their storylines in The Lord of the Flies. The climate of
the island meant that the boys did not need to struggle to stay alive, so they were not unified in the
desire to survive. The article The New Psychology of Leadership states "social identity also allows
people to identify and act together as group members"(pg.3) If they had needed to focus on staying
warm, for example, the boys would have had a group identity in the original tribe. However, the
island they crashed on was warm and habitable, so the boys did not have a group identity, until Jack
shaped one with his tribe. The island they were on was also inhabited by pigs, so there was an outlet
for Jack's aggression, leading to his increasing tendency to be cruel. Jack was emotionally driven in
the beginning of the book, and exercising the power he had through the hunting of pigs only
increased that hunger for power, which led to the division of the boys. Jack's need to be in

Effective Communication in Team Dynamics Essay
Throughout personal and business lives everyone will eventually work in a team setting. A team
usually consists of three or more people who have a common goal or purpose. When working in a
team, members have to decide what roles they will fill, plan their schedules for projects, and deal
with upcoming team conflicts. Stewart, Sims & Manz (1999) stated, "For a team to succeed, team
members need to effectively communicate with one another" (p. 79). While each element of
teamwork is important, effective communication is the cornerstone to team dynamics.
One of the main elements of effective communication is open discussions. Everyone on the team
needs to be willing to share his or her point of view. De Janasz, Dowd & Schneider (2002) ... Show

Once the team has achieved open communication the team members will be more willing to
encourage each other, which will lead to more creativity and risk taking. This creativity will be
achieved by trusting that the communication will be heard, discussed and tried if it will help the
team reach its goals. Temme and Katzel (1995) wrote that "risk taking plays a major role in the
creative process." Trust and open communication will lead to brainstorming and sharing of ideas
between the team members. Therefore, team members must try new things to see if the ideas
presented will benefit the ultimate outcome and help achieve the final goal.
Eventually every team will have a conflict. Since conflict is inevitable, effective communication is
vital for the team success. The team needs to figure out what the conflict is, what needs to be done
to get the team going again, what the options are and how they will solve the conflict in a way that
is beneficial to the team (University of Phoenix, 2004). Without effective communication, this
process of conflict resolution would fail. The team members would not be willing to share their
point of view, teamwork would stall, and the conflict would escalate. Once a conflict escalates, the
team will have a hard time coming back together and trusting each other to accomplish the set goals.
The team must be able to communication openly and discuss solutions

Lying apart now, each in a separate bed,
He with a book, keeping the light on late,
She like a girl dreaming of childhood,
All men elsewhere – it is as if they wait
Some new event: the book he holds unread,
Her eyes fixed on the shadows overhead.
Tossed up like flotsam from a former passion,
How cool they lie. They hardly ever touch,
Or if they do, it is like a confession
Of having little feeling – or too much.
Chastity faces them, a destination
For which their whole lives were a preparation.
Strangely apart, yet strangely close together,
Silence between them like a thread to hold
And not wind in. And time itself's a feather

Communication Challenges In The Workplace Research Paper
Communication challenges can be seen within various different organizations, and generally people
are involved with more than one organization. This leads to encounters with ineffective
communication on a daily basis for many individuals. Throughout this paper, I am going to discuss a
communication challenge for an organization that I am a part of, and an intervention plan for that
communication challenge. As a student manager at one of the dining locations on the University of
Wisconsin– Eau Claire's campus, I think that communication between managers is less effective
than it could be. In becoming a student manager rather than a regular student employee, I had
roughly two shifts where I was trained into the differences. The regular student employees, are not
informed of who is a student manager, and there is no identifier for both other employees or
customers other than through verbal communication from the student manger themselves. Also,
there is very little formal, organized communication between all employees and supervisors which
is the communication challenge that I intend to focus on. This location of this dining establishment
has a very calm, casual environment which leads to less than effective communication. Generally,
the employees communicate in a way that you would with family or friends, rather than what you
typically would see between coworkers and a supervisor. After becoming a student manager and
through my courses in both communication and psychology,

Gotto and Turnbull (2010) discuss the importance of families and early intervention specialists as
the main component of home visits. In order to see how these partnerships worked, they interviewed

For some of the parents in the study, they struggled with their child's physical or emotional delay
and in essence felt a sense of sorrow when it came to their child. The providers were viewed as their
hope for their child. In the study, there were also a few families who faced several emotional needs.
The families were not the only ones to face emotional needs. Early intervention specialists also
demonstrated a sense of urgency in helping the child not only overcome the delay but also prevent
further delays. Many of these providers also had a feeling of stress due to their case overloads.
Providers also experienced emotional distress with the families who had more complex emotional
needs and thus felt inadequate to help them. Furthermore, providers who entered homes which were
different from their own, also felt emotional discomfort. (Brotherson et al., 2010)
The first partnership pattern between the families and their providers identified was one in which
both the family's needs and the provider's needs were met. (Brotherson et al., 2010) This partnership
was a "match" in where both the provider and the family shared the same emotional need. They both
felt a sense of urgency to help the child and intern worked together to aid the child's progression.
The sessions were child–focused. The parent was focused on her child's progression and participated
during the home visits. Meeting the family's emotional need of urgency

Where Do I See Myself
The question is where do I see myself in five to ten years. The honest answer is I don't know where
I'm going to be or what my career is going to be in the future. Right now I have no idea what I want
to do with my life. Hopefully, I will move out of my parents house, get married to someone that I
can see spending the rest of my life with and have a couple of children. I want to be a father so my
kids can carry on the family name and most importantly to watch them grow up and raise them like
my parents have done for my brother and myself. I hope in ten years that I will be at a steady and
stable job that I enjoy going to every day and that I make enough money to support my family and
not be worrying about money issues. Also, I hope that I'm done with school and have achieved the
highest degree in my career field and hopefully I have no student loans that I need to payoff. Lastly,
I see myself some place sunny and warm all year round with a house overlooking the water.
Meanwhile, there are certain qualities that I have that I bring to a relationship. First of all I'm a good
listener so I will listen to what my partner has to say and I won't ignore them when they need advice
or when they need to get something off their chest. I will be there when my partner asks for help and
will not make excuses for not being their for her. I'm also a optimistic, which means I see the good
things in a person even though there actions or thoughts may be negative. Lastly, I have two

Disadvantages Of Conflict
Conflicts and arguments are part of our daily lives and we deal with them in our own ways. Usually
conflicts arise between two or more individuals, organizations or even nations and the scope of
every conflict is to find a solution to the disagreement that was created between the parties. Each
disagreement may have a different nature, even if it is personal, financial or political there must be a
solution.
The most common way to deal with conflict is to avoid it, some individuals leave the discussion,
and some get angry and upset, actually it may amaze you what people would do in order to avoid a

Face–to–face Meeting Communication.
This is the most personal means of communication. With personal contact you can develop, build
and maintain relationships. By meeting the employee face to face you can understand the mood of
the person by observing the body language, the information you receive is of a richer quality, you
can clarify information interactively and issues can be resolved much faster. This is best used for a
back–to–work interview or appraisal.
Letter Communication.
This is the most formal means of communication. A record of the message can be obtained by both
the company and the employee. This is best used if the employee has to be notified of a contract
amendment, recognition or termination.
Key Components of Effective Service Delivery
Building and Maintaining Good Relationships
To build and maintain a good relationship with employees, the HR practitioner will need to gain
their trust. This can be achieved by meeting the needs of the organisation as well as their own
personal needs. As employees generally resist change, it is important to keep staff well informed of
changes, why the organisation is changing and how it will affect them in their day–to–day role.
Michael Armstrong articulates 'nothing succeeds like success'. Support for improved HR Practices
can be accomplished by demonstrating to employees it has been successful in other parts of the
business. Ensure the employee understands that contributions will be welcomed

My Experience : My Personal Experience
Describe Yourself
In a school setting I have very little experience working in groups. I have always been part of
classes where presentations and work is performed individually. However, I like to collaborate with
others. I am willing to do my best to help the group be successful in this class. In my job, we work
as a team, which has helped me become more comfortable with team work.
At this moment, I am very stressed because I wrote the wrong deadline for the Individual Consensus
Report and I failed to submit it on the day it was do. I am very responsible and I pressure myself to
completing my work in a timely manner. I know that one mistake does not define the future of my
student work ethic, but will give me a chance to be more careful and aware of what I am required to
accomplish. My personality can be defined in one word, introverted. I am very introverted and I am
quiet most of the time. My boss would describe me as someone who likes to accomplish tasks and
projects in a timely manner (although this presentation shows otherwise). He would say that I am
diligent and have a positive attitude.

Nvc Principles

  • 1. Nvc Principles 1. The setting in which I had this past communication that I felt I was not very successful as I wished happened last semester in the fall. I remember it being a cold, stormy, and raining Saturday afternoon in my cozy apartment. I was sitting on my bed talking to my roommate about how the apartment environment needed to change with the other roommates and us. After an hour of discussing what we wanted to address with our other two roommates, we decided that it was time to actually work on the problems with the them. Nervously my roommate and I walked across the apartment to their bedroom. We both exchanged looks and took a long deep breath before knocking on their door. The other two girls answered their door, but appeared shocked and confused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One situation in which I would feel that it would be most difficult to apply the NVC principles for me would be when I am fighting with my mother. Personally it would be a challenge to stay so calm in my exchange with her, because I know that she will always be there for me regardless of what happens or is said. Also, the fact that she knows me like no one else makes it even more difficult to try and change the way I communicate with her, even if it's for the better. In the past, I have not been very successful in two NVC principles. Those two NVC principles are statement of feeling and statement of need. Whenever, I have a conversation with a person and I need to let them know how I am feeling, it never comes out the way I mean it to. A part of that issue has to do with me using the wrong words to describe my feelings. A situation where I had a difficult time applying statement of feeling was during an interaction I had with my boyfriend. My boyfriend accidently double booked on our date night, which resulted in him wanting to reschedule our it. Usually I wouldn't have minded moving our date night, but I had been planning this night for weeks. He didn't seem to understand why I was so upset, and I remember telling him that I felt so abandoned and disrespected that he forgot about it. At the time of this interaction, I just expressed what I was feeling blindly. However, after analyzing this communication, I realize that I was not using the NVC principles. I should have used statement of feeling in the NVC way. For example, I should have said "I feel sad and depressed that you forgot our date night. I was beginning to wonder if it's not a priority for you to have these special nights." From that experience I learned that I can improve on this NVC principle is by telling the person my emotions and/or physical responses rather than using thoughts or interpretations masquerading as ... • 2. Motivation, Self And Unconscious Interactions Motivation is literally the desire to do things. According to the Business Dictionary, motivation is also the "internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continuing interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal." Furthermore, conscious and unconscious interactions are the reasons for motivation. These conscious and unconscious interaction factors include: intensity of desire/need, incentive/reward value of the goal, and expectations of the individual and of his or her peers. As a whole, these are the causes for a person behaving a particular way (Business Dictionary, 2016). It is because of motivation, or the lack of, that Joe and his supervisor are in this tough situation that needs answers to how motivate people, motivate themselves, and how to solve conflict resolution between staff members. Joes is a loyal employee and an impeccable worker of 10 years at a small rural clinic. However, Joe is being transferred to one of the larger urban clinics. Since his arrival, the supervisor of the clinic has moved him around so much that it's making it impossible for Joe to familiarize himself with the clinic. Moreover, he is being treated as a new as a new employee and the staff has not made it easy for him. Now, Joe's attitude has become negative and his motivation is at an all–time low. The supervisor does not want to fire him, but needs to come up with a solution that will benefit and motivate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To be sure, any move that Alejandro would make–to another foster home, to his mother, or with his father–will be a traumatic experience. However, the potential of a great deal of trauma exists by moving Alejandro in with his father. By DCFS considering to move Alejandro in with his father, this would be allowing him to move in with someone who has not expressed any inkling of care for the boy (emotional abandonment and withdrawal of love) (Frankel, 1998). Also, the chance that such a move would evoke trauma stemming from living with the believed aggressor of violence against his mother, exists. Lastly, moving in with his father would greatly alter the plan of reunification of Alejandro to Ms. C., in which the child's system has been preparing him for since he entered into the foster care ... • 7. Reflection Paper On Group Work The work that we have done so far has been great experience for all of us. And I think that it will give us an advantage when we are looking for jobs, because experience will take you farther than any number of classes or research when looking for a job. There is no doubt that we will face similar situations after we graduate, and we need to be prepared to handle them. Because of the way that the projects are structured we are all able to take turns managing the group, something that many of us have no experience doing. However I think that there are communication issues between the editorial and advertising sides, more specifically the lack of communication that is taking place. For the most part, our portion of the project is going well, there have been some really strong ideas put on the table. We have a group of people that are good managers as well as good followers, which is a perfect balance to have when working with such a large group. While it is good to be a strong leader, it is also beneficial to know how to follow, otherwise there would just be a group of leaders and nothing would ever get done. This class is showing us how to find that balance by having all of us rotate through management positions throughout the different stages of the project. To my knowledge there are not very many of us that have ever worked in a group this large, having experience doing so will be valuable later in our careers. Something that I have noticed with the setup of the teams ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Safety Standards Of Mercury Mercury is extremely dangerous to humans due to its extreme conditions not suitable to human life. Missions to Mercury must be conducted with infallible safety standards to prevent incidents such as what has happened in the past. These safety standards must consider all possible circumstances in which measures must be taken. When doing missions on Mercury safety should be the number one priority. Before creating safety standards, it is important to first acknowledge issues and situations that has arisen in the past. Awhile back, a team of scientist were sent to complete a mission on Mercury. Accompanied with them was a robot that went by the name of Speedy. Speedy was a multifunctional robot built to assist the scientist with whatever they needed. Speedy was especially useful against Mercuries harsh conditions. He was able to maneuver the surface where humans could not. Before arriving on Mercury, the team knew they would need selenium in order to repair their photo–cell banks. These banks are important in keeping the base on Mercury from burning up. Speedy was capable of retrieving this selenium, but was the only one capable of doing so. This is because he was the only robot sent with the team. The safety flaw in only having one robot to complete a life or death task is enormous. Standards at the time did not take into account flaws in technology. On the day of the mission, Speedy was sent out to retrieve the selenium. The scientist found it rather strange that he had not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being able to work in teams as a medical assistant is helpful because in any situation I would need the assistance of my co–workers. Being able to break information down to where the patient or patients can understand is a wonderful skill to posses because I will be dealing with so many cultures, ethnicity, and age groups. A lot of people do not understand when doctors and even medical assistants use certain terms, so when they are spoken to where they can understand, it makes them feel better just knowing what is going on instead of feeling more confused than what they was when they came in. And also it lets them know that you care enough to take the time and effort to make sure they understand. According to Engel (2000), Kamien explains that "the task of general practice should go well beyond simply dealing with a patient's presenting complaint" (p.4). The same explanation applies to adapting to change as a medical assistant in the sense that I should be able to listen and adapt to each patient's needs that I come in contact with. Being able to adapt to change is a plus because as a medical assistant I will be dealing with new equipment, new procedures, and different co–workers that might be able to show me better ways to treat the patient's complaints. Essay about Diversity Programs at the New England Aquarium In the case of "Diversity Programs at the New England Aquarium", all four frames – structural, human resources, political, and symbolic– show a different perspective of the underlying management issues surrounding the New England Aquarium. The issues that surround the structural frame are based around the aquarium's goals and mission, as well as the actual organizational structure and coordination. The human resource frame will be used to view the relationships and balance between the needs of the organization and the needs of the people involved at the aquarium. Next, we will look at the political frame in order to better understand "the battle" for the tight resources, and the political arena that exists in the aquarium. Lastly, we will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next management issue, within the structural frame, lies in the structural tensions at the aquarium. There are two design issues that are in the core of the organizational structure: differentiation, and integration (Bolman p49). The first issue with differentiation comes up with the interns in the organization. There was a time where the interns where not making well use of time, and it wasn't till the intern's responsibilities were restructured that the interns were able to make use of the time, and make the most out of their positions. The next group that had difficulties was the finding proper and suitable work for the incoming diversity program students. This was, in part, due to the fact that there was no planning or specific program created for the unskilled students. However, the next year there was a quick growth in the number of students in the program making their tasks more difficult to specialize. Specialization of the student's jobs was one of the initiatives that Williams planned for the new incoming students. These included creating specific jobs –with goals– such as education assistants and Teen Ambassadors. Another management issue that was apparent in the organization was the coordination of the aquarium's structure. The aquarium was a classic laterally coordinated organization, and there were issues that arose when the students came into an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Non–violent activism has played a critical role in several transitions from authoritarianism like, the withering away of the Soviet Union and the Apartheid in South Africa. For many activists, non– violent action has become an effective way to achieve social or political goals. Peter Ackerman and Christopher Kruegler, the authors of "Strategic Nonviolent Conlfict: The Dynamics of People Power in the Twentieth Century," mention how the appearance of non–violent action as a weapon of choice in resolving conflict is continuously increasing. Gaining positive media coverage is crucial, as social movements rely on the media for mobilisation of political support, legitimisation in mainstream discourse and to broaden the scope of conflicts. Positive media coverage is important because one can argue that today many people are replacing opinions as facts due to the media's ability to dupe the masses. In the article "The News Media's Influence on Peace Operations" written by, Warren Strobel, he describes this phenomena as the "CNN effect." He also discusses the "CNN curve" which is the ability to influence public opinion by broadcasting images of starvation, or other tragedies on news networks. The ability for networks to reach a vast audience with strong and influential messages has been facilitated through an increase in technology, the internet and other communication devices. Messages are instantaneously displayed on TV screens, online newspapers and pod casts, allowing for people all over the world to have instant access to critical events. An example of mainstream media's effect on grassroots activism, is the White March that took place in Belgium on October 20, 1997. The White March was a massive demonstration that included about 300,000 citizens. The demonstration surrounded the controversy of the arrest of murder Marx Dutroux. • 25. Personal Reflection For Personal Assignment The purpose behind this assignment from my own understanding is for a couple of reasons. One of them is to help improve and practice report writings/responses, while another reason is to express what we believe our strengths and weaknesses will be in this chosen career path. This assignment is beneficial because it will prepare us for future writing assignments in the program, and better understand how we will be graded. It will also help us reflect on what skills we think we can bring to the table, along with weaknesses we can improve on. It will be a useful assignment to reflect on my own personal strengths, and will be a beneficial tool to my success in this program. This career choice (specifically EMS dispatching) is something I'm hoping I could be exceptional at because of my experience working as an EMT. I attended PMA in 2014 where I learned a variety of useful skills from great instructors that could easily crossover to dispatching. I then mastered these skills out on the field, working hand in hand with Emergency Services! I like to think with this experience I can bring quick decision–making skills to the table; as well as limited medical knowledge for certain situations when necessary. I have experience in triaging, and can handle stressful situations exceptionally well while staying emotionally–detached. In fact, nothing was more thrilling to me then heading to a call full lights and sirens! There's no better feeling than conquering those tough decisions, and knowing you've done all you can to help someone. I also bring excellent communication skills to the table due to my large personality and theatre experience in high school. When I say large personality, I don't mean it in an obnoxious way. It's more so in a personable way, where I love talking to people and am outgoing. It's helpful to have when your trying to keep someone on the phone during a tough call, or when you need to keep a person calm in a stressful situation. • 28. The Ideal Business Model Of A Company Part Ⅱ emphasizes opportunity and the importance of it. The author uses a whole sector to talk about opportunity, so we can understand how crucial opportunity is to a company. For a CEO as me, I need to understand how to not only seek opportunities but also seize them. Ideal business is a dream for a company. It is the best business model in the most ideal environment for a company, and the most optimal results for the company from that business model. A company can set a direction based on the ideal business, and adjust the route to the ideal result. However, the ideal business is just a model, and the company cannot regard it as a plan. In order to set an ideal business, the first thing a CEO needs to know is the "dream" of the company: what is the goal for our company in a period of time? The goal should be realistic and have some difficulties to achieve, because if it is too easy to reach, the employees will not try their best, and the company cannot develop. To set the goal, the CEO needs to discuss with the directors of each department and ask about their advice. They do not need to provide a complete plan. Instead, they need to tell the CEO what are their ideal markets and results for their departments. After summarizing their ideal models, he needs to create the ideal business for the company and discuss it with the shareholders. Organizations need to keep the pace or lead the way to maintain its relevancy in the market and keep the competition at bay. Thus sustainability is the key to leading by innovation and change, to improve products and services, in order to remain at the top. Organizations achieve sustainability when they have the ability to develop, innovate, and implement changes that would lead to long term success (Froschheiser, 2014). For organizations to implement and commit to the constant change environment, or organic evolution of change, all stakeholders need to be willing and informed participants. Organic Evolution of Change Creating an organizational mentality of change, is the core of a sustainable organization (Christensen, 2014). Establishments' have been faced with the necessity to transition from the traditional approach of stability, which ruled previous to the advancement in technology and globalization, or risk irrelevancy or even destruction (Freytag & Hollsen, 2010). Change is provoke by need. Each of the roles has a specific job in promoting peace and interrupting conflict. Together the roles will help end conflict in the world if used correctly, Reading through Ury 's book, I was able to make many connections to what we learned in class. The Third Side supports the change for peace we need to see in this role, and we will all find ourselves in one of the ten roles. The Third Side applies to this class and will make a change in the future. The first three roles focus on conflict prevention. These roles look to address the root of conflict and lay down the foundation for peaceful conflict resolution. The first role is the Provider, who enables people to meet their needs which include food, safety, identity, and freedom. At the beginning of the semester, we read The Dynamics of Conflict Resolution by Bernard Mayer. Mayer writes that at the center of conflict is human needs. Mayer also points out, "Conflict cannot be transformed or settled unless these needs are addressed in some way". The role of the Provider focuses on addressing these needs and enabling others to recognize and meet their own. Mayer believes the needs are based in five forces that are the sources of conflict. The five forces are communication, emotions, history, structure, and value. With communication, humans are unable to perfectly communicate. The Provider knows people want to ... Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis When placed somewhere new and confusing, filled with unfamiliar sights and sounds, people will desire to make sense of their environment, no matter their previous conditioning as to what is right or wrong. In the novel The Lord of the Flies, young boys are stranded somewhere totally new, both in its physical and social environments, and once civilization is stripped away, a clear dividing line separates those who fight the savagery from those who embrace it. The physical environment of the island greatly impacted the characters and their storylines in The Lord of the Flies. The climate of the island meant that the boys did not need to struggle to stay alive, so they were not unified in the desire to survive. The article The New Psychology of Leadership states "social identity also allows people to identify and act together as group members"(pg.3) If they had needed to focus on staying warm, for example, the boys would have had a group identity in the original tribe. However, the island they crashed on was warm and habitable, so the boys did not have a group identity, until Jack shaped one with his tribe. The island they were on was also inhabited by pigs, so there was an outlet for Jack's aggression, leading to his increasing tendency to be cruel. Stewart, Sims & Manz (1999) stated, "For a team to succeed, team members need to effectively communicate with one another" (p. 79). Once the team has achieved open communication the team members will be more willing to encourage each other, which will lead to more creativity and risk taking. This creativity will be achieved by trusting that the communication will be heard, discussed and tried if it will help the team reach its goals. Temme and Katzel (1995) wrote that "risk taking plays a major role in the creative process." Trust and open communication will lead to brainstorming and sharing of ideas between the team members. Therefore, team members must try new things to see if the ideas presented will benefit the ultimate outcome and help achieve the final goal. Eventually every team will have a conflict. Since conflict is inevitable, effective communication is vital for the team success. The team needs to figure out what the conflict is, what needs to be done to get the team going again, what the options are and how they will solve the conflict in a way that is beneficial to the team (University of Phoenix, 2004). Without effective communication, this process of conflict resolution would fail. The team members would not be willing to share their point of view, teamwork would stall, and the conflict would escalate. • 34. Communication Challenges In The Workplace Research Paper Communication challenges can be seen within various different organizations, and generally people are involved with more than one organization. This leads to encounters with ineffective communication on a daily basis for many individuals. Throughout this paper, I am going to discuss a communication challenge for an organization that I am a part of, and an intervention plan for that communication challenge. As a student manager at one of the dining locations on the University of Wisconsin– Eau Claire's campus, I think that communication between managers is less effective than it could be. In becoming a student manager rather than a regular student employee, I had roughly two shifts where I was trained into the differences. The regular student employees, are not informed of who is a student manager, and there is no identifier for both other employees or customers other than through verbal communication from the student manger themselves. Also, there is very little formal, organized communication between all employees and supervisors which is the communication challenge that I intend to focus on. This location of this dining establishment has a very calm, casual environment which leads to less than effective communication. Generally, the employees communicate in a way that you would with family or friends, rather than what you typically would see between coworkers and a supervisor. After becoming a student manager and through my courses in both communication and psychology, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Home Visitors Have Become Responsible For Meeting The... Home visitors have become responsible for meeting the emotional needs of the families in early intervention. Because of this they need to have a skill set to be able to work with culturally, socio– economically and linguistically diverse families. Brotherson, Summers, Naig, Kyzar, Friend, Epley, Gotto and Turnbull (2010) discuss the importance of families and early intervention specialists as the main component of home visits. In order to see how these partnerships worked, they interviewed early interventionists and families. The data collected was used to study the emotional needs of both the families and the specialists and how they were met and by whom. The authors also found that in order for an emotional bond to happen between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For some of the parents in the study, they struggled with their child's physical or emotional delay and in essence felt a sense of sorrow when it came to their child. The providers were viewed as their hope for their child. In the study, there were also a few families who faced several emotional needs. The families were not the only ones to face emotional needs. Early intervention specialists also demonstrated a sense of urgency in helping the child not only overcome the delay but also prevent further delays. Many of these providers also had a feeling of stress due to their case overloads. Providers also experienced emotional distress with the families who had more complex emotional needs and thus felt inadequate to help them. Furthermore, providers who entered homes which were different from their own, also felt emotional discomfort. (Brotherson et al., 2010) The first partnership pattern between the families and their providers identified was one in which both the family's needs and the provider's needs were met. (Brotherson et al., 2010) This partnership was a "match" in where both the provider and the family shared the same emotional need. They both felt a sense of urgency to help the child and intern worked together to aid the child's progression. The sessions were child–focused. The parent was focused on her child's progression and participated during the home visits. Meeting the family's emotional need of urgency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Where Do I See Myself The question is where do I see myself in five to ten years. The honest answer is I don't know where I'm going to be or what my career is going to be in the future. Right now I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Hopefully, I will move out of my parents house, get married to someone that I can see spending the rest of my life with and have a couple of children. I want to be a father so my kids can carry on the family name and most importantly to watch them grow up and raise them like my parents have done for my brother and myself. I hope in ten years that I will be at a steady and stable job that I enjoy going to every day and that I make enough money to support my family and not be worrying about money issues. Also, I hope that I'm done with school and have achieved the highest degree in my career field and hopefully I have no student loans that I need to payoff. Lastly, I see myself some place sunny and warm all year round with a house overlooking the water. Meanwhile, there are certain qualities that I have that I bring to a relationship. First of all I'm a good listener so I will listen to what my partner has to say and I won't ignore them when they need advice or when they need to get something off their chest. I will be there when my partner asks for help and will not make excuses for not being their for her. I'm also a optimistic, which means I see the good things in a person even though there actions or thoughts may be negative. Lastly, I have two qualities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. My Experience : My Personal Experience Describe Yourself In a school setting I have very little experience working in groups. I have always been part of classes where presentations and work is performed individually. However, I like to collaborate with others. I am willing to do my best to help the group be successful in this class. In my job, we work as a team, which has helped me become more comfortable with team work. At this moment, I am very stressed because I wrote the wrong deadline for the Individual Consensus Report and I failed to submit it on the day it was do. I am very responsible and I pressure myself to completing my work in a timely manner.
