Drug Testing Persuasive Essay
Imagine, you're about to run for the 3200m event until one of the coaches say that you are required
to take a drug test to make sure you do not have any supplements or additives inside your body.
Does the administration have the right to do that and invade your privacy? Drug testing for high
school and college students is something very controversial for many years and in fact, many people
still talk about the topic today.
Paragraph 1: Well, recently a lot of student–athletes have been caught using cocaine, marijuana, and
steroids in their systems. I believe these people should get drug tested because so we can minimize
drug use and make sure these it's not used in these sports. In my opinion, I believe it's unfair to
many other athletes

Solution to the Foreclosure Crisis
I have what I believe to be a viable solution to the foreclosure crisis. I am almost certain that, if
implemented, it would work. We need social services reform. I hesitate to say this, because it may
come off as sounding too radical, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Simply put, if
something fails, we must look at the overall picture and see what may be wrong–we need to
troubleshoot the system. To me, and hopefully to most Americans with any interest in the future of
our nation, it is obvious that all is not well. Looking at our society and our government from a
somewhat macro– standpoint, what I see is many areas of inefficient and misguided allocation of
social service funding. In the recent past, in better times, during ... Show more content on

Then they probably move on to another school. This is outrageous and incredibly costly for
taxpayers since it can be assumed that it happens all the time, nationwide. Many will even take out
Stafford loans for extra money and default on them, which adds to problems for the banks. The
scary part is that it can happen indefinitely. Cracking down on this problem would quickly free up a
lot of money that could be redirected to a social service that would assist homeowners facing
foreclosure.
I think that the Pell Grant should become more difficult to get, along the lines of a scholarship (not
quite THAT difficult). I propose that the government should not give financial aid based solely on
financial need. First a student should demonstrate financial need, as the system works now. That
student should not automatically become eligible. The government should provide a few options for
ways that the student can achieve eligibility. I have a couple ideas for this. Option 1 would be for a
student to take an entrance aptitude test to qualify for financial aid. Higher scorers are more likely to
succeed as students, and frankly, more intelligent people are more likely to see the advantage of
receiving a college education and to stick with it as a legitimate student. They are less likely to be in
it just for the refund check. It also adds an extra hoop to jump through, so to speak, so

Essay On Welfare Drug Testing
The Possibility and Effects of Drug Testing Welfare Recipients
One of the many goals of the American Welfare System is to provide financial assistance to U.S
citizens who are unable to support themselves. Government funds are provided in hopes that many
of these able bodied citizens will eventually find a way to become financially independent and
economically productive. However, there is a percentage of welfare recipients that use their
government funding to purchase and abuse illicit drugs. When welfare is abused in this manner, the
system loses credibility and the long–term goals of seeing financially self–sufficient citizens, and
economic progress on both micro and macro levels, are not only compromised, they are regressed
by the negative impacts of illegal drug use. The most common (and commonly debated) method of
weeding out citizens who choose to abuse the welfare system is enforcing mandatory drug testing on
all welfare recipients. This method is an ongoing controversy involving elements of legality,
economics, budget analysis, a violation of rights, the allocation of government funds, and
discriminatory stereotypes of welfare recipients. Regardless of the diverse array of fundamental
complexities involved with executing or rejecting this preventative procedure, most Americans'
opinions are simply based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1. What speech sounds do you expect that this child will have difficulty perceiving?
Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th
Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th
2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why?
I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in
higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range.
Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds.
3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child 's speech
abilities and if so, how has this child 's family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you
know about them?
Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel
with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is
mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing aids.
It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even
more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to
moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to
understand some of the time. In Julie 's case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to

2.2.7 METHODS OF COMPETENCY MAPPING Businesses use competency mapping to match
the capabilities and talent of personnel with specific job tasks and organizational needs. The
technique involves conducting a job analysis to identify core skills and behaviors required to
perform the role, drafting a job description based on the key competencies and aligning resources to
best fulfill competency needs. Having a competency map makes it easier for firms to identify
qualified candidates, assess performance, focus training efforts and enhance overall productivity.

(1992). The Nature and Development of Curriculm–Based Measurment. Preventing School Failure
36(2) Retrieved from http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ967727.pdf
Curriculum–Based Measurement (CBM) has become a very effective means for assessing children.
Because research has shown there is a lack of clarity about essential student outcomes, needs for
vital signs of student growth, and problems with achievement tests, CBM is needed. Most students
will be able to grow without CBM, but those students who struggle and are at risk will likely fail in
reading. Teachers are not able to see how a child has progressed using only achievement test.
Information about a child's growth is needed to identify the areas a child is struggling in. Test
scorers have tried to modify achievement test by adding grade equivalents, but the scores still tend
to be unreliable. CBM shouldn't be mistaken for Curriculum Based Assessments. Curriculum Based
Assessments refers to a range of approaches that rely on gathering info on performance in the
curriculum. While CBM stand for the specific approach that is used to measure a skill students are
learning. CBA involves the testing of different steps and items while CBM is more consistent. CBM
measures equivalent forms of the same task. It also helps teachers test the effects the curriculum has
on students when the program setting is changed to another

Test Taking Strategies
Test–Taking Strategies
For 10 years, I was the one testing the students, teaching strategies and finding new ones to help
students study. Suddenly, I found myself returning to school and the anxiety, stress, lack of time, and
just all the unknowns seemed to overwhelm my life. The last couple of years I have learned to
incorporate strategies that work best for me, but there is always room for improvement and
strengthening. Learning, study and test taking skills are some of the most important things to have
when furthering your education. Upon reading Strategies for Test Success by Linda Anne Silvestri, I
was able to scrutinize some of my weaknesses, reevaluate my learning style, and look at some new
test taking strategies while assessing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using this strategy instead of trying to memorize text out of a book, one should have to spend
less time studying and more information should be retained. (Kaplan Nursing: Lipponcott)
Test Strategies Not so Helpful
There are so many strategy recommendations for students. While each have good points, some are
more helpful than others. Strategies that don't seem as helpful to me are simulating actual test like
circumstances when studying for the exam, study groups, note taking by using the fancy systems.
These three strategies just seem to increase my stress level to the point I feel like I am not learning.
Simulating actual test like circumstances has just never worked for me as I usually don't pick the
correct information to test myself on and the important information gets left behind. Study groups
cause me too much pressure because I find that one or two people seem to be putting the study
guides together. This is a pet peeve for me; I don't mind sharing my ideas but don't expect me to do
all the work and then hand it to you. The final one that has never worked for me is taking notes by
using one of the many note taking systems. I find myself spending too much time trying to
remember what needs to be written where, organizing, how to fold the paper. I have developed my
own crazy way of taking notes over the years. Note taking is an area that I feel is individualize for

The Importance Of Current Science Books
Has anyone noticed how the desire of children (or brats, as we like to call them) to know, to
understand and to learn about their environment, has declined significantly over the years? Why,
when we were kids (you know when we walked ten miles to school), it wasn't unusual to see
second–graders going through the chapters of their science books and digging up 'experiments' that
simply used a mirror, water, and sunlight to demonstrate the formation of rainbow colours. The
results challenged the mind and instantly brought up questions that would not rest until their
answers had been sought out. This sort of healthy curiosity was common in the past but is gradually
decreasing with time.
Nowadays science has become just another boring subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most students nowadays will agree that science is the worst thing that happened to them, that it was
forced upon them by their parents and was completely based on bookish knowledge.
The biggest problem seems to be the lack of lab equipment and real lab classes. At its core, science
is not a theoretical subject. It is based on physical experiments. A boring lecture on refraction can
never replace the wealth of practical information and visual feedback obtained in the lab. Through
practical lessons, kids will be able to cultivate an ability to think by themselves through experiments
in physics, chemistry and biology. 'Even in the A Level course, we don't have the opportunity to
conduct our own experiments but we race to finish the questions in the question paper and pull at
our hair when the answers don't come out right. The teachers are so bent upon completing the
syllabus that they seem to forget that they have a responsibility of making the subject more exciting
to us.' This was the general combined opinion of most of the senior students of English medium
schools.
Even the teachers agreed. The unanimous opinion was that even if a student, purely through his/her
interests, wants to pursue the ways of science, the unavailability of the right books and equipments
poses a barrier. When I asked a teacher at this institution whether students were

Essay On Welfare Drug Testing
Drug Testing Welfare Recipients Why do people that are working have to pass a drug test while
those on welfare do not? This is the question that is causing a lot of debate across the country and
throughout congress. Many working class Americans are outraged at the current welfare policies and
believe something needs to change. There are always going to be people on government assistance
who are abusing the system and who are using drugs while not working. Something needs to change
so we can actually help families who need assistance, not those who are abusing drugs and the
system. Therefor, I believe that states should require drug testing of all individuals on welfare since
those who are supporting them have to pass a drug test. Drug testing welfare recipients has been an
idea since 1996 when congress changed the welfare system and allowed for the possibility to drug
test applicants for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. There are several
benefits to being able to drug test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major argument is that it wont affect the parents receiving welfare, but instead the children.
Approximately 81.5 percent of those receiving (TANF) have children. With that many having
children, they are bound to see the biggest impact of drug testing since the money is supposed to pay
for food, clothing, and shelter. Some say that it will cause children to struggle and possibly go
hungry. Another reason that some people are against drug testing welfare recipients is that it will
cost more than it saves. Such as in Florida where drug testing actually cost the state money. Each
drug test cost around thirty dollars and with so many applicants it ended up costing the state forty–
five thousand dollars (Greenblatt). This is a lot of money that could have went back into the
program. These are two of the several reasons that some are against the testing of welfare

1.1 INTRODUCTION
Modern technology has added a new ingredient to this mix the Internet. The Internet can be regarded
as a cheaper and improved version of the self–education resources. Some people like to take exam
in a classroom is traditional manual examination because they are happy to sit there and have the
teacher tell them what to learn, and when they get stuck, they are happy that there is someone there
to help them, and they enjoy the social environment while taking exam. The traditional approach to
measuring a person's level of knowledge in a topic has been the examination. These days there is

Drug Testing Benefits
Over 27.1 million people in the U.S. were reported in drug use. An eighth of them people either got
injured or passed away. This is the reason we drug test at jobs. It helps keep the dangers away from
people and businesses. Our society as a whole will improve by being a lot safer. There will be less
shootings and catastrophes due to drugs. That's the purpose of drug testing at jobs.
At work workers always have to be doing their job the correct way. For the employer they have to
have reliable workers. "Many companies test job applicants for illegal drug use as part of the
employment hiring process." (Doyle) .Doing a yearly drug test to see who isn't doing their job
correct is an action many businesses are taking now. It makes it a safer environment ... Show more

Drug testing at jobs are also helping to lower that rate. There are more and more jobs everyday that
require drugs tests which means it will continue to lower. "There is a 500% increase on
incarceration's due to drugs." (Politicalfact). People will either keep doing drugs and go to jail, or
stop doing them and go on the right way in life. The purpose of the drug test is to get people to stop
doing them so everyone can be safer and more productive.
Snyder 1
There is at least a casualty a day caused by drugs. "More Americans died from drug overdose in
2016 then died in the entirety of the Vietnam War."(Lopez). Innocent people die from them that are
just bystanders. This has to stop and drug tests are helping. A safer environment is the main reason
businesses started doing this. People should not have to give a life because of someone else's
actions. People at work are protected by the test as well. The employer saves money as well because
no equipment is destroyed and no lives will be taken.
Drug testing is for the better than the worse. The people who think otherwise need to be tested. It
protects people, weather its the user people at work ,or the innocent bystander keeping people off
drugs will help build and protect this country. It's also helping build a new generation drug free, and
that is the goal for drug

Why Is It Important To Use PCAT?
I spent approximately 200 hours preparing for the PCAT. Most sources recommend between 200 and
250 hours. I took the test in the middle of July, so I had around two months to study following the
end of my junior year. For the first month I read the Kaplan review book cover to cover and took
notes on sections that I was not confident about. This book was overwhelmingly comprehensive and
detailed, and it made me anxious about the amount of information that could potentially be on the
exam. I also took the two Kaplan practice tests that came with the book. These exams were more
difficult and specific than the actual PCAT, and were certainly NOT helpful, I recommend not taking
them. During my second month of studying I used the Dr. Collins Prep materials. These were very
pricey, but they are a must buy! The Dr.Collins packets condense everything you need to know for
each of the sections into around 10 double–sided pages. The best part about these compacted guides
is that they are written in just the right amount of detail that is needed to solve the problems on the
PCAT. Rather then provide you with every single detail about what could be on the exam, these
packets are filled with information that frequently appears on the PCAT (and ... Show more content

There were significantly less questions on statistics, basic pre calculus and calculus. The Dr. Collins
review was great for tipping you off to exactly what you needed to know regarding statistics and
calculus, however it over emphasized pre calc. I think strategy is most important in this section
because the question difficulty varies the most. One question might ask you to solve a basic two
variable equation, and the next could be a challenging calculus application. If you find yourself
having trouble finishing this section (I did), solve all the easy problems first and come back to the
hard problems if you have time, in the end the are all worth the same number of

the government doesn't do drug testing when applying for welfare. Many say it's not worth spending
government money on, however if the government did do drug testing it could save the government
money. I believe that drug testing welfare recipients would benefit our state in different ways. I feel
that if the state was to make drug testing mandatory then it would help to prevent welfare fraud.

Pros And Cons Of Drug Testing In Schools
Imagine if your child or you walked into school and was randomly tested for drug residue. You or
your child did nothing wrong and they have no evidence that he or she was taking drugs. How
would you feel about that? Would you be alright with that? This is brought up because this topic of
being drug tested in schools randomly is being argued about quite often. Drug tests should not be
mandatory for students because they violate students' rights, are very costly, and are not an effective
way of getting rid of drug use in schools. Firstly, drug tests should not be required for students
because they violate students' rights. Drug tests sometimes increase feelings of paranoia and guilt,
which is not right. The athletes have not done anything wrong, yet the school treats them like they
have with these drug tests. A boy was trying out for a sport and in order to be able to play, he had to
take a drug test. His father was very against it, as well as his son. "York considered it a violation of
his son's privacy and thought it sent the message that his son was guilty until proven innocent"
(McLure). In the American court system we follow the rule of "Innocent until proven guilty". The
drug tests are going against the traditional American court system that our Founding Fathers created
in the early years of our country. They fought for our country and some died. They took the job of
setting up guidelines for our government and country, which most likely was not easy. The most we

novel is about the character Tris Prior, who examines her own identity as she tries to fit herself in

how your choices define your identity.
From reading this novel 'Divergent', an idea I found particularly interesting was the factions. The
societal structure is split into five different factions, which included Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity,
Candor and Erudite. The society members get to choose which faction they want to belong in, but
between each faction, there is conflict, until someday when war breaks out. I found this idea
Veronica Roth portrays is very unusual because she has made society divided depending on the way
you act and think. "And tomorrow at the Choosing Ceremony; I will decide on a faction; I will
decide the rest of my life; I will decide to stay with my family or abandon them". I felt for Tris
during this Choosing Ceremony. The aptitude test was supposed to tell her which faction she
belonged in, however since her results from this test were inconclusive, meaning she is divergent,
she had to decide between the three factions her results told her she was a

Microbiology: A Career In The United States Navy
Today, less than half a percent of Americans serve in the military, and of that number, about fourteen
percent are women. Women have been serving in the United States Navy since 1942 (Saxena, 93).
In addition to stating that the Navy is part of the Defense Department, the largest Government
agency in the United States, that employs over 2.1 million people, it can be better understood to
define the Navy as a seagoing arm of the nation's military forces (Saxena 11 ,87). The Navy offers
various job titles and careers, including microbiology. Within microbiology you investigate the
growth, structure, development, and other characteristics of microscopic organisms, including algae,
bacteria, and fungi (Choices Planner). Microbiology is just one of the many possible careers
featured for the United States Navy. There are specific qualifications to enlist in the United States
Navy before basic training. A few examples of some of these qualifications would to be a United
States citizen, be willing to serve a minimum of three years, be at least eighteen and no older than
forty–one years of age, and be in an exceptional physical condition (America's Navy). After
enlisting and meeting with a recruiter, the enlisted member will attend MEPS, which is short for
Military Entrance Processing Station. At MEPS, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Summary of and Response to “the Trouble with Talent”...
The Summary of and Response to "The Trouble with Talent" by Kathy Seal
In "The Trouble with Talent", Kathy Seal, who frequently writes about children and education in
magazines, wrote about the way of education in the U.S. which only focused on the value of inborn
aptitude could breed children to become artful people and waste many of American children's
potential. At the beginning of this article, Seal told about an experiment of Jim Stigler, who was a
UCLA psychologist, which tested the persistence of Japanese and American children by solving the
math problem. While the American kids solved the problem for a short time and quickly gave up,
the Japanese kids still kept on their work. Stigler stated that Asian education focused to ... Show

Indeed, from this article we recognize that the children will gain success when everybody
encourages their effort and shouldn't emphasize inborn talent. Effort counts more than innate ability.
After reading Seal's article which stated that Americans often thought kids are born smart while
Asians more often believed that studying makes a person smarter, I was reminded my own personal
beliefs on intelligence and I realized that I have thought people could get smart by exerting effort
since I was in the last year of elementary school in Vietnam. Therefore, I empathized with Seal's
attitude that success and achievement are a result of working hard. I could remember that I got this
attitude when I was in an important final exam which decided where my middle school was in the
next year that depended on my score. In this exam, the math test was an extremely difficult test for
every student because it had a strange math problem which my classmates and I had never studied
before. At first, I had spent for 2 hour to solve this problem, but I didn't succeed. So, I wanted to
give up. However, I was worry about my score and thought about my mom, who hoped that I could
get the high score enough to enter a famous middle school. Since I didn't want to disappoint my
mom's wish, I tried to solve this math problem again and again and again. Eventually, I was
successful to solve

Reflection About Math
Math is the language of the universe. It is used in every subject and understand it is absolutely
imperative. As highschool comes to an end and college is about to start, math is one of those
subjects that can be a pain in the butt to remind yourself how to do some topics. This project has
helped me understand the type of math I will be exposed to on the placement test and what type of
questions to expect. I chose to complete the Maryland placement test as I have some interest to
attend. It has also exposed me to the college lifestyle a little and got me insight of application and
what courses are required. I have concluded that these tests were a useful tool to measure my math
skills on the colgate level.
These tests were surprising in some aspects and in others very predictable. For one, I expected them
to be much longer and more thorough. I expected their to be open ended questions and less multiple
choice. I was surprised by the simplicity of some questions, but on contrasty, other questions were
more challenging than what I was anticipating. I was also surprised at the lack of variety in
questions. Much of the questions were the same format just with different number. But for the most
part, I was not too caught off guard by any of the questions, as I had learned them all in my 4 year
years at JCHS. The only things that I must address is reminding myself on some of the older
material that I learned in my freshman and junior years here. The test was easier than I expected,
although it was not easy. I expected the test to be very complicated and to include difficult
questions. Instead, it had simpler questions but were still a challenge. For example, the concept of a
problem could be fairly easy, but the numbers are hard to work with or had fractions in them. On
this test, calculators were permitted and were a huge help to me. This tells myself that I need to get
better at mental math to save time on tests and to not rely on calculators so much. Mental math has
always been difficult for me, but mastering it can be greatly beneficial to my math. The test can be
taken online or in person, it is really up to the person. I personally would prefer an in person test, as
I feel writing the problems out with pencil

The Joys of Being a Carpenter
Using machines and being outside are the joys of being a carpenter. Carpentry has always been a job
that I have wanted to pursue. A carpenter has many tasks to do, this job will have things that may or
may not fit me, and I have to have a plan to accomplish all of my goals. Carpenters work outside
most of time, but every now and then they will work inside. They have to be able to tolerate some
less than favorable conditions at times to get the job done. Rain, heat, wind, cold, and even snow are
some of the different types of weather a carpenter might have to work through. They have to be able
to work in small spaces, so they can get certain jobs finished. Carpenters need to be able to work in
many different positions so they can get at things to work on them. Being a carpenter means that I
will need to know how to use all kinds of tools. I will have to use anything from hand tools, to
machines, to computers. Hand tools are the widest variety of tools that carpenters have to use. These
hand tools range from using levels, to make sure things are level to the ground, and tape measures,
so I know how long or how tall something is. I need to also use power saws so I can cut the piece of
wood that I need, or a wood chisel so I can shape something. Carpenters need to be able to use
computers, so they can draft a house and see how it should look when the project is completed.
There are three different kinds of carpenters. There are residential carpenters,

The Transition Process Is A Crucial Stage Of The Academic...
The transition process is a crucial stage in the academic life of students with disabilities. Parents and
students both tend to experience many concerns, since it is a period in which student's transit from
the controlled environment of school to adult life and the possible hardships that accompanies it. As
the students close this chapter of their life, certain services and supports that were provided in
school continue to be necessary as they begin the new one. That is mainly why the effective
transition of these students to adult life is the primary concern for both parents and the school
districts.
Initially, the Individual with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) was
authorized. This body of laws focuses on providing all students with disabilities a free and
appropriate public education ( FAPE) that place importance on special education and services that is
developed to meet the students individual needs and prepare them for adulthood (IDEA, 2004). In
order to comply with the demands of IDEA, it is fundamental to grasp the significance of the
transition planning in the lives of both students and their families (Test, Aspel, & Everson, 2006).
Etscheidt (2006) defined the transition services as group of activities that are established to provide
positive outcomes that support student's transition from school to post school. During the transition
process a myriad of services that focus on higher education, employment, vocational training,

Divergent And Allegiant Essay
How are the effects of Divergent and Allegiant's speculation on individuals / groups discussed by the
author?
What if people divided society into groups based on what their personal virtues were, which they are
made to work on throughout their whole lives? What if you had to stay with this group your whole
life, leaving your friends and family behind forever?
This is the case for the dystopian books Divergent and Allegiant, written by Veronica Roth.
There is a lot of speculation in these books, about the portrayal of these groups, known as 'factions'.
The main speculation is on the group of individuals known as the Divergents. In the first book of the
series, Divergent, they are portrayed to be individuals who rebel against the faction system as their

Tris realises this when she first found out she was Divergent and stopped listening to the opinions of
other people and accepted her own perspective, "When I found out I was Divergent, I thought of it
as a secret power that no one else possessed, something that made me different, better, stronger,"
(Roth, 2013, p. ).
As well as using perspective to speculate on the Divergents, Roth additionally uses foreshadowing
throughout Divergent, to link to the ideas explored in Allegiant.
Roth uses foreshadowing to provide the reader with an advance hint of what is to come later in the
story. She uses it mainly throughout the first book in the series to give the reader a lead in to what to
expect in the final book.
The most prominent example of foreshadowing in Divergent is when Tris questions the aptitude test;
"The tests don't have to change our choices," to which her brother Caleb replies with, "Don't they,
though?" (Roth, 2011, p. 66). This foreshadows Caleb's decision to leave his own faction and join a
different one, which is a decision which is highly judged

graduation. Most of the students are completely unaware about the array of fields available for
pursuing career in to. The choice of career is mostly governed by the marks one scores in the
qualifying exam like 10th. High scoring students invariably go to science field, while those next in

preliminary guidance and expert counselling for him along with his guardians. Herein, the student
will be provided with various career options tailored to his needs. He will also be suggested some
add–on courses which he can enrol in to in order to gain the competitive advantage over the other
students. We will endeavour to enrich him through suggestion of good reading material such as
books, newspapers and magazines, membership of libraries. We will also present him with the
options of educational institutions both in India and abroad. Candidate will also be assisted with
obtaining educational loans, if required. For MBA graduates, special assistance will be provided by
informing him about the various job profiles he can opt for within each area of specialization.

How Media And Electronics Can Be Good For Not Only Self...
Imagine a life without phones, television, and computers. There would be no way to communicate
long distances, and none of the technological companies we have today (apple, samsung) would
exist. Screen–free week, a worldwide celebration is where kids, parents, schools, and even whole
townships "pull the plug" on electronics for an entire week. Journalists believe that screen free week
is a huge step to lessening use of electronics among teens around the globe. Many townships like
Hillsborough, New Jersey are debating about pulling the plug and going back to the books for the
entire week of May 4th to May 10th 2015. This "screen–free week" celebration is known to help
people get off their electronics and interact with real people instead over social media where as
people can take advantage of people and/or steal information. However, many schools are against
screen–free week and are saying that social media and electronics can be good for not only self
esteem but, can help people learn too! Yet, more than a thousand people are doing it world wide, and
are working to help convince others to join the international celebration of screen–free week. As a
result, screen–free week can help increase social interaction between teens, get rid of the everyday
destruction of electronics in school, and help increase privacy among peers. Many websites such as,

Hearing Loss At A Patient
Abstract
Hearing aids are electronic devices that are used to enhance the hearing of a patient that has various
types of hearing loss. Loss of hearing for a patient has a huge impact on the quality of life in which
communication is a big part of every day. These needs are to be understood and addressed by the
nursing professional and healthcare team to enhance safety in daily activities of a hearing impaired
patient. The importance of the nursing professionals to be educated in the assessment, types, care,
interventions and safety of the hearing devices is imperative. Nursing professionals need to use the
knowledge of the hearing aids available, how to safely use the device and the proper care for their
new device provided it is prescribed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Weber and Rinne test are used to determine if hearing is normal or if conductive and
sensorineural hearing loss are present. The Rinne test compares air and bone conduction hearing; the
test consists of striking a 512 Hz tuning fork at the base of the mastoid bone (located behind the ear)
(Lewis et al., 2011) and is a time interval test. Time interval is when bone conduction sound is heard
longer than or equal to air conduction with conductive hearing loss and with sensorineural hearing
loss the air conduction is heard longer than the bone conduction in the affected ear (Devitt, (n.d.).
Since there are different types of hearing aids, external and internal this assessment is a valuable tool
for the physician to determine what may be best for each specific patient. For the external hearing
aids it has been determined by research printed in the American Journal of Audiology that fitting
hearing aids bilateral instead of monaural will often result in better patient compliance (Lavie,
Banai, Attias, & Karni, 2014). Bilateral fittings usually have a lesser risk of noncompliance and
enhancing a better outcome for the patient. Nurses can provide referral sources for a patient who is
in need of additional support services that nursing cannot provide. Such as when a patient fails a
hearing screening and when hearing aids are not functioning or ill fitted. By collaborating with the
others in the healthcare team there will be enhancement of the patient 's health and

Reality Test Should Be Used For School
Imagine yourself back in your freshman year of highschool. It is early October and field hockey is
going great. Classes are not too bad either, and reports are right around the corner. On Monday your
teacher pulls you aside and lets you know that if you do not get at least an eighty on this next test
you will not do well in the class. Not only do you have other work due for school, but you have a
job, field hockey and only two days left to study and really understand the material. This is currently
the issue with test, teachers are using them as end point grades. This means they use them to see
how much someone knows. Hence, using tests as final scoring of what they have learned. In reality
test should be used to help guide teaching. As a teacher we should realize that test grades are
affected by a lot of outside sources and are not always reliable. Test should be used to help guide the
way teachers help their students learn, not used to measure what a student already knows. To lay a
foundation for why tests should not be used to measure how much students know, but rather used as
a guide for what teachers should teach we will look at the reliability of test. There are many factors
that come into play when we are talking about test reliability, one being that there is not real
feedback when it comes to tests. In the school district that I grew up in after our tests were graded
and then given back to us with only incorrectly answered questions marked. A lot of the time

a group of students asking to compare two cards and to choose something on the card that matches
the second card. Many people in the experiment matched it correctly. Also there were people that
would constantly match the wrong ones on purpose. The purpose of the experiment was to recognize

Drug Testing Persuasive Essay

  • 1. Drug Testing Persuasive Essay Imagine, you're about to run for the 3200m event until one of the coaches say that you are required to take a drug test to make sure you do not have any supplements or additives inside your body. Does the administration have the right to do that and invade your privacy? Drug testing for high school and college students is something very controversial for many years and in fact, many people still talk about the topic today. Paragraph 1: Well, recently a lot of student–athletes have been caught using cocaine, marijuana, and steroids in their systems. I believe these people should get drug tested because so we can minimize drug use and make sure these it's not used in these sports. In my opinion, I believe it's unfair to many other athletes ... • 3. Solution to the Foreclosure Crisis I have what I believe to be a viable solution to the foreclosure crisis. I am almost certain that, if implemented, it would work. We need social services reform. I hesitate to say this, because it may come off as sounding too radical, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Simply put, if something fails, we must look at the overall picture and see what may be wrong–we need to troubleshoot the system. To me, and hopefully to most Americans with any interest in the future of our nation, it is obvious that all is not well. Looking at our society and our government from a somewhat macro– standpoint, what I see is many areas of inefficient and misguided allocation of social service funding. In the recent past, in better times, during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then they probably move on to another school. This is outrageous and incredibly costly for taxpayers since it can be assumed that it happens all the time, nationwide. Many will even take out Stafford loans for extra money and default on them, which adds to problems for the banks. The scary part is that it can happen indefinitely. Cracking down on this problem would quickly free up a lot of money that could be redirected to a social service that would assist homeowners facing foreclosure. I think that the Pell Grant should become more difficult to get, along the lines of a scholarship (not quite THAT difficult). I propose that the government should not give financial aid based solely on financial need. First a student should demonstrate financial need, as the system works now. That student should not automatically become eligible. The government should provide a few options for ways that the student can achieve eligibility. I have a couple ideas for this. Option 1 would be for a student to take an entrance aptitude test to qualify for financial aid. Higher scorers are more likely to succeed as students, and frankly, more intelligent people are more likely to see the advantage of receiving a college education and to stick with it as a legitimate student. They are less likely to be in it just for the refund check. It also adds an extra hoop to jump through, so to speak, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay On Welfare Drug Testing The Possibility and Effects of Drug Testing Welfare Recipients One of the many goals of the American Welfare System is to provide financial assistance to U.S citizens who are unable to support themselves. Government funds are provided in hopes that many of these able bodied citizens will eventually find a way to become financially independent and economically productive. However, there is a percentage of welfare recipients that use their government funding to purchase and abuse illicit drugs. When welfare is abused in this manner, the system loses credibility and the long–term goals of seeing financially self–sufficient citizens, and economic progress on both micro and macro levels, are not only compromised, they are regressed by the negative impacts of illegal drug use. The most common (and commonly debated) method of weeding out citizens who choose to abuse the welfare system is enforcing mandatory drug testing on all welfare recipients. This method is an ongoing controversy involving elements of legality, economics, budget analysis, a violation of rights, the allocation of government funds, and discriminatory stereotypes of welfare recipients. Regardless of the diverse array of fundamental complexities involved with executing or rejecting this preventative procedure, most Americans' opinions are simply based ... Left ear difficulty perceiving: p, k, f, s, th Right ear difficulty perceiving: j, m, n, ng, z, d, v, b, o, I, a, r, p, ch, h, sh, g, k, f, s, th 2. Do you think that the child will have more difficulty with the vowels or the consonants and why? I think that Julie will have more difficulty with the consonants because they are mostly found in higher pitch areas of the speech banana. They also are softer being found on the lower decibel range. Both of these areas are difficult areas for Julie to perceive those speech sounds. 3. Do you think that the home situation of the child has much influence on the child 's speech abilities and if so, how has this child 's family influenced her speech abilities, based on what you know about them? Family involvement and influence is one of the top reasons for a child to either struggle or excel with language and communication. From what I read there is a lack of support in the home. This is mostly because of the age and condition of the hearing aids. It is frequently found that a child with mild to moderate hearing loss such as Julie, can struggle even more than a child with severe to profound hearing loss. This is because a child with mild to moderate hearing loss is denied assistance or lacks proper diagnosis due to their ability to understand some of the time. In Julie 's case it is possible that the low IQ diagnosis was daunting to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Preventing School Failure 36(2) Retrieved from http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ967727.pdf Curriculum–Based Measurement (CBM) has become a very effective means for assessing children. Because research has shown there is a lack of clarity about essential student outcomes, needs for vital signs of student growth, and problems with achievement tests, CBM is needed. Most students will be able to grow without CBM, but those students who struggle and are at risk will likely fail in reading. Teachers are not able to see how a child has progressed using only achievement test. Information about a child's growth is needed to identify the areas a child is struggling in. Test scorers have tried to modify achievement test by adding grade equivalents, but the scores still tend to be unreliable. CBM shouldn't be mistaken for Curriculum Based Assessments. Curriculum Based Assessments refers to a range of approaches that rely on gathering info on performance in the curriculum. While CBM stand for the specific approach that is used to measure a skill students are learning. CBA involves the testing of different steps and items while CBM is more consistent. Suddenly, I found myself returning to school and the anxiety, stress, lack of time, and just all the unknowns seemed to overwhelm my life. The last couple of years I have learned to incorporate strategies that work best for me, but there is always room for improvement and strengthening. Learning, study and test taking skills are some of the most important things to have when furthering your education. Upon reading Strategies for Test Success by Linda Anne Silvestri, I was able to scrutinize some of my weaknesses, reevaluate my learning style, and look at some new test taking strategies while assessing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using this strategy instead of trying to memorize text out of a book, one should have to spend less time studying and more information should be retained. (Kaplan Nursing: Lipponcott) Test Strategies Not so Helpful There are so many strategy recommendations for students. While each have good points, some are more helpful than others. Strategies that don't seem as helpful to me are simulating actual test like circumstances when studying for the exam, study groups, note taking by using the fancy systems. These three strategies just seem to increase my stress level to the point I feel like I am not learning. Simulating actual test like circumstances has just never worked for me as I usually don't pick the correct information to test myself on and the important information gets left behind. Study groups cause me too much pressure because I find that one or two people seem to be putting the study guides together. This is a pet peeve for me; I don't mind sharing my ideas but don't expect me to do all the work and then hand it to you. The final one that has never worked for me is taking notes by using one of the many note taking systems. I find myself spending too much time trying to remember what needs to be written where, organizing, how to fold the paper. I have developed my own crazy way of taking notes over the years. • 15. The Importance Of Current Science Books Has anyone noticed how the desire of children (or brats, as we like to call them) to know, to understand and to learn about their environment, has declined significantly over the years? Why, when we were kids (you know when we walked ten miles to school), it wasn't unusual to see second–graders going through the chapters of their science books and digging up 'experiments' that simply used a mirror, water, and sunlight to demonstrate the formation of rainbow colours. The results challenged the mind and instantly brought up questions that would not rest until their answers had been sought out. This sort of healthy curiosity was common in the past but is gradually decreasing with time. Nowadays science has become just another boring subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most students nowadays will agree that science is the worst thing that happened to them, that it was forced upon them by their parents and was completely based on bookish knowledge. The biggest problem seems to be the lack of lab equipment and real lab classes. At its core, science is not a theoretical subject. It is based on physical experiments. A boring lecture on refraction can never replace the wealth of practical information and visual feedback obtained in the lab. Through practical lessons, kids will be able to cultivate an ability to think by themselves through experiments in physics, chemistry and biology. 'Even in the A Level course, we don't have the opportunity to conduct our own experiments but we race to finish the questions in the question paper and pull at our hair when the answers don't come out right. The teachers are so bent upon completing the syllabus that they seem to forget that they have a responsibility of making the subject more exciting to us.' This was the general combined opinion of most of the senior students of English medium schools. Even the teachers agreed. The unanimous opinion was that even if a student, purely through his/her interests, wants to pursue the ways of science, the unavailability of the right books and equipments poses a barrier. When I asked a teacher at this institution whether students were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have little experience with test construction and have turned to you for some advice about reliability and validity. • 19. Essay On Welfare Drug Testing Drug Testing Welfare Recipients Why do people that are working have to pass a drug test while those on welfare do not? This is the question that is causing a lot of debate across the country and throughout congress. Many working class Americans are outraged at the current welfare policies and believe something needs to change. There are always going to be people on government assistance who are abusing the system and who are using drugs while not working. Something needs to change so we can actually help families who need assistance, not those who are abusing drugs and the system. Therefor, I believe that states should require drug testing of all individuals on welfare since those who are supporting them have to pass a drug test. Drug testing welfare recipients has been an idea since 1996 when congress changed the welfare system and allowed for the possibility to drug test applicants for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. There are several benefits to being able to drug test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One major argument is that it wont affect the parents receiving welfare, but instead the children. Approximately 81.5 percent of those receiving (TANF) have children. With that many having children, they are bound to see the biggest impact of drug testing since the money is supposed to pay for food, clothing, and shelter. Some say that it will cause children to struggle and possibly go hungry. Another reason that some people are against drug testing welfare recipients is that it will cost more than it saves. Such as in Florida where drug testing actually cost the state money. Each drug test cost around thirty dollars and with so many applicants it ended up costing the state forty– five thousand dollars (Greenblatt). This is a lot of money that could have went back into the program. These are two of the several reasons that some are against the testing of welfare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It helps keep the dangers away from people and businesses. Our society as a whole will improve by being a lot safer. There will be less shootings and catastrophes due to drugs. That's the purpose of drug testing at jobs. At work workers always have to be doing their job the correct way. For the employer they have to have reliable workers. The purpose of the drug test is to get people to stop doing them so everyone can be safer and more productive. Snyder 1 There is at least a casualty a day caused by drugs. "More Americans died from drug overdose in 2016 then died in the entirety of the Vietnam War."(Lopez). Innocent people die from them that are just bystanders. This has to stop and drug tests are helping. A safer environment is the main reason businesses started doing this. People should not have to give a life because of someone else's actions. People at work are protected by the test as well. The employer saves money as well because no equipment is destroyed and no lives will be taken. Drug testing is for the better than the worse. The people who think otherwise need to be tested. It protects people, weather its the user people at work ,or the innocent bystander keeping people off drugs will help build and protect this country. • 27. Why Is It Important To Use PCAT? I spent approximately 200 hours preparing for the PCAT. Most sources recommend between 200 and 250 hours. I took the test in the middle of July, so I had around two months to study following the end of my junior year. For the first month I read the Kaplan review book cover to cover and took notes on sections that I was not confident about. This book was overwhelmingly comprehensive and detailed, and it made me anxious about the amount of information that could potentially be on the exam. I also took the two Kaplan practice tests that came with the book. These exams were more difficult and specific than the actual PCAT, and were certainly NOT helpful, I recommend not taking them. During my second month of studying I used the Dr. Collins Prep materials. These were very pricey, but they are a must buy! The Dr.Collins packets condense everything you need to know for each of the sections into around 10 double–sided pages. The best part about these compacted guides is that they are written in just the right amount of detail that is needed to solve the problems on the PCAT. Rather then provide you with every single detail about what could be on the exam, these packets are filled with information that frequently appears on the PCAT (and ... One question might ask you to solve a basic two variable equation, and the next could be a challenging calculus application. You or your child did nothing wrong and they have no evidence that he or she was taking drugs. How would you feel about that? Would you be alright with that? This is brought up because this topic of being drug tested in schools randomly is being argued about quite often. Drug tests should not be mandatory for students because they violate students' rights, are very costly, and are not an effective way of getting rid of drug use in schools. Firstly, drug tests should not be required for students because they violate students' rights. Drug tests sometimes increase feelings of paranoia and guilt, which is not right. The athletes have not done anything wrong, yet the school treats them like they have with these drug tests. • 42. Analysis Of The Book 'Divergent' By Veronica Roth The novel 'Divergent', written by Veronica Roth is a science fiction book released in 2011. This novel is about the character Tris Prior, who examines her own identity as she tries to fit herself in her society made up of five factions. The aim of this diversion is to erase the threat of anyone who could potentially harm or threat the population. This novel also has a romantic touch, between Tris and her dauntless faction instructor, Four. This text illustrates the dangers of societies division, and how your choices define your identity. From reading this novel 'Divergent', an idea I found particularly interesting was the factions. The societal structure is split into five different factions, which included Dauntless, Abnegation, Amity, Candor and Erudite. The society members get to choose which faction they want to belong in, but between each faction, there is conflict, until someday when war breaks out. I found this idea Veronica Roth portrays is very unusual because she has made society divided depending on the way you act and think. "And tomorrow at the Choosing Ceremony; I will decide on a faction; I will decide the rest of my life; I will decide to stay with my family or abandon them". I felt for Tris during this Choosing Ceremony. The aptitude test was supposed to tell her which faction she belonged in, however since her results from this test were inconclusive, meaning she is divergent, she had to decide between the three factions her results told her she was a ... Women have been serving in the United States Navy since 1942 (Saxena, 93). In addition to stating that the Navy is part of the Defense Department, the largest Government agency in the United States, that employs over 2.1 million people, it can be better understood to define the Navy as a seagoing arm of the nation's military forces (Saxena 11 ,87). Therefore, I empathized with Seal's attitude that success and achievement are a result of working hard. I could remember that I got this attitude when I was in an important final exam which decided where my middle school was in the next year that depended on my score. In this exam, the math test was an extremely difficult test for every student because it had a strange math problem which my classmates and I had never studied before. • 48. Reflection About Math Math is the language of the universe. It is used in every subject and understand it is absolutely imperative. As highschool comes to an end and college is about to start, math is one of those subjects that can be a pain in the butt to remind yourself how to do some topics. This project has helped me understand the type of math I will be exposed to on the placement test and what type of questions to expect. I chose to complete the Maryland placement test as I have some interest to attend. It has also exposed me to the college lifestyle a little and got me insight of application and what courses are required. I have concluded that these tests were a useful tool to measure my math skills on the colgate level. These tests were surprising in some aspects and in others very predictable. For one, I expected them to be much longer and more thorough. I expected their to be open ended questions and less multiple choice. I was surprised by the simplicity of some questions, but on contrasty, other questions were more challenging than what I was anticipating. I was also surprised at the lack of variety in questions. Much of the questions were the same format just with different number. But for the most part, I was not too caught off guard by any of the questions, as I had learned them all in my 4 year years at JCHS. The only things that I must address is reminding myself on some of the older material that I learned in my freshman and junior years here. The test was easier than I expected, although it was not easy. I expected the test to be very complicated and to include difficult questions. Instead, it had simpler questions but were still a challenge. For example, the concept of a problem could be fairly easy, but the numbers are hard to work with or had fractions in them. On this test, calculators were permitted and were a huge help to me. This tells myself that I need to get better at mental math to save time on tests and to not rely on calculators so much. Mental math has always been difficult for me, but mastering it can be greatly beneficial to my math. The test can be taken online or in person, it is really up to the person. Forensic Assessment What assessments would you conduct to enhance your understanding of the client's problems and how would your choice of assessment(s) inform your diagnostic formation and treatment planning? Assessments may include structured or unstructured interviews, valid and reliable assessment measures, and/or formalized assessment procedures that may be conducted by yourself or by someone else referred by you. In order to understand the client's problem, the evaluator must gather relevant data as it pertains to the forensic issues of concern (Bartol & Bartol, 2011). Based on the vignette, it appears the forensic issue is whether or not Danita understands the nature of her actions and the charges against her. Danita expressed her disbelief of the charges ... • 68. Special Education Placement One of the necessary components to determine eligibility for Special Education placement is an assessment. Being able to administer, score, and interpret an assessment properly is often the driving factor in determining the least restrictive environment for a student. Efficient research in both reliability and validity must be conducted to evaluate if an assessment tool is appropriate. Chapter 4 discusses the reliability and validity of an evaluation tool. Reliability is the measure of confidence placed on a test. There are several ways to measure reliability that include correlational methods of Pearson's r which is a ratio used to determine the strength and direction of a correlation. Internal consistency can be tested using procedures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. How Media And Electronics Can Be Good For Not Only Self... Imagine a life without phones, television, and computers. There would be no way to communicate long distances, and none of the technological companies we have today (apple, samsung) would exist. Screen–free week, a worldwide celebration is where kids, parents, schools, and even whole townships "pull the plug" on electronics for an entire week. Journalists believe that screen free week is a huge step to lessening use of electronics among teens around the globe. Many townships like Hillsborough, New Jersey are debating about pulling the plug and going back to the books for the entire week of May 4th to May 10th 2015. This "screen–free week" celebration is known to help people get off their electronics and interact with real people instead over social media where as people can take advantage of people and/or steal information. However, many schools are against screen–free week and are saying that social media and electronics can be good for not only self esteem but, can help people learn too! Yet, more than a thousand people are doing it world wide, and are working to help convince others to join the international celebration of screen–free week. As a result, screen–free week can help increase social interaction between teens, get rid of the everyday destruction of electronics in school, and help increase privacy among peers. Many websites such as, facebook and instagram can help people make new, valued friendships and assist people with communicating worldwide but, there is a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Hearing Loss At A Patient Abstract Hearing aids are electronic devices that are used to enhance the hearing of a patient that has various types of hearing loss. Loss of hearing for a patient has a huge impact on the quality of life in which communication is a big part of every day. These needs are to be understood and addressed by the nursing professional and healthcare team to enhance safety in daily activities of a hearing impaired patient. The importance of the nursing professionals to be educated in the assessment, types, care, interventions and safety of the hearing devices is imperative. Nursing professionals need to use the knowledge of the hearing aids available, how to safely use the device and the proper care for their new device provided it is prescribed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Weber and Rinne test are used to determine if hearing is normal or if conductive and sensorineural hearing loss are present. The Rinne test compares air and bone conduction hearing; the test consists of striking a 512 Hz tuning fork at the base of the mastoid bone (located behind the ear) (Lewis et al., 2011) and is a time interval test. Time interval is when bone conduction sound is heard longer than or equal to air conduction with conductive hearing loss and with sensorineural hearing loss the air conduction is heard longer than the bone conduction in the affected ear (Devitt, (n.d.). Since there are different types of hearing aids, external and internal this assessment is a valuable tool for the physician to determine what may be best for each specific patient. For the external hearing aids it has been determined by research printed in the American Journal of Audiology that fitting hearing aids bilateral instead of monaural will often result in better patient compliance (Lavie, Banai, Attias, & Karni, 2014). Bilateral fittings usually have a lesser risk of noncompliance and enhancing a better outcome for the patient. Nurses can provide referral sources for a patient who is in need of additional support services that nursing cannot provide. Such as when a patient fails a hearing screening and when hearing aids are not functioning or ill fitted. By collaborating with the others in the healthcare team there will be enhancement of the patient 's health and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Reality Test Should Be Used For School Imagine yourself back in your freshman year of highschool. It is early October and field hockey is going great. Classes are not too bad either, and reports are right around the corner. On Monday your teacher pulls you aside and lets you know that if you do not get at least an eighty on this next test you will not do well in the class. Not only do you have other work due for school, but you have a job, field hockey and only two days left to study and really understand the material. This is currently the issue with test, teachers are using them as end point grades. This means they use them to see how much someone knows. Hence, using tests as final scoring of what they have learned. In reality test should be used to help guide teaching. As a teacher we should realize that test grades are affected by a lot of outside sources and are not always reliable. Test should be used to help guide the way teachers help their students learn, not used to measure what a student already knows. To lay a foundation for why tests should not be used to measure how much students know, but rather used as a guide for what teachers should teach we will look at the reliability of test. There are many factors that come into play when we are talking about test reliability, one being that there is not real feedback when it comes to tests. In the school district that I grew up in after our tests were graded and then given back to us with only incorrectly answered questions marked. A lot of the time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of the classes that I have taken so far were in preparation for me to be successful when I take my CPC exam. One of the first things I will do to prepare for the exam is to make sure all of my coding books have tabs and any and all notes that I may need during my test. Fortunately for me my instructor conducts a boot camp and tutoring classes if I need help with any part of what I have learned this far and to help us be ready for the test. My instructor has also made up a study guide in quizlet that contains all of the information that we need to know for the CPC exam. This study tool in particular for me is very helpful. It not ... • 78. What Was The Purpose Of The Asch Experiment In chapter 5 of the textbook we learn about various groups and what they represent. A social group "is two or more people who identify with and interact with one another" (Macionis 108). We also learned about several different experiments and the understanding of each. Social groups are very important. In the text book we learn about two different experiments. The Asch experiment includes a group of students asking to compare two cards and to choose something on the card that matches the second card. Many people in the experiment matched it correctly. Also there were people that would constantly match the wrong ones on purpose. The purpose of the experiment was to recognize if any of the participants of the experiment felt awkward during it. First of all they felt pressured to answer correctly. Often when you are in a group of people you don't know you want to be as smart as you can. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The learned was strapped down to a shock chair and was challenged by the teacher to answer questions or understand different things by the teacher.
