Advantages And Disadvantages Of Forensic Psychology
Forensic Psychology At Its Core
More than half of the world's population is filled with criminals, individuals wonder why criminals
do what they do. In order to have these questions answered, a Forensic Psychologist's is needed, the
basic definition of a Forensic Psychologist is an individual that treats criminal– related people. Here
is some information about everything there is to know of a Forensic Psychologist, their salary, types
of jobs, well– known people, famous cases, and their disadvantages.
First of all, when someone hears the terminology Forensic Psychology, they usually refer to it as
psychologists studying criminals. However, there is more to the meaning than meets the eye. For
example, the birth of Forensic psychology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another question people also ask is what do they do? The most important thing Forensic
Psychologists do, apart from assisting the police, is research, for instance, they research about the
crime, the history of the criminal, relationship to the victim and many more.. They also examine
crime scenes and the evidence [within] the crime scenes (Forensic Psychology Careers).
Furthermore, once the individual becomes a Forensic Psychologist, research for where they can be
hired, and the salary, competition and job growth is required. Forensic psychologist work at police
departments, government agencies, prosecutor 's office, law firms, insurance companies, hospitals,
and consulting firms (Forensic Psychologist Salary). They also get hired at courthouses, jails, and
juvenile courts (Forensic Psychology Careers). In a job, one of the main factors to consider is the
salary.. Forensic Psychologist earns more than any other type of psychologist; to be more specific,
forensic psychologist can earn anywhere between $74,000 to $200,000 (Forensic Psychology

Forensic Psychology : A More Than One Career Option
Forensic psychology is a varied field that can lead to more than one career option, and provides
more than one path to get into the position you're seeking. A master's degree is required to work in
the field of forensic psychology. With a master's degree you could work as a correctional officer, a
parole or probation officer, or as a counselor to criminal offenders, a counselor to victims of crime,
or a counselor to people who abuse drugs and alcohol. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor
Statistics correctional officers earned a median salary of $38,970 a year in 2012 (BLS1); while
parole or probation officers earned a median salary of $48,190 (BLS2), and drug and alcohol abuse
counselors earned a mean annual wage of $38,520 (BLS3) for the same year.
Accordingly, those who go on to get a PhD or PsyD in forensic psychology can open quite a few
other doors for themselves; working as clinicians in a correctional setting, working with prosecutors
who anticipate a legal insanity defense, working with SWAT unit negotiations in a consulting role,
as expert witnesses in jury trials, mediating child custody cases, social science research, a professor
in forensic psychology, and even in helping to formulate public policy dealing with psychology and
the law. Forensic psychologists can wear many hats, and their work opportunities can be sporadic;
so their salaries are hard to track. The BLS states that general psychologists made a median annual
wage of $69,280 a year in 2012 (BLS4),

Teaching Reading Comprehension
Introduction
What is reading? Reading is about understanding written texts. It is a complex activity that involves
both perception and thought. Reading consists of two related processes: word recognition and
comprehension. Word recognition refers to the process of perceiving how written symbols
correspond to one's spoken language. Comprehension is the process of making sense of words,
sentences and connected text. Readers typically make use of background knowledge, vocabulary,
grammatical knowledge, experience with text and other strategies to help them understand written
text.
Researchs and classroom practices support the use of a balanced approach in teaching reading
comprehension. Because reading comprehension depends on efficient ... Show more content on

A person may also read for enjoyment, or to enhance knowledge of the language being read. The
purpose(s) for reading guide the reader 's selection of texts.
The purpose for reading also determines the appropriate approach to reading comprehension. A
person who needs to know whether she can afford to eat at a particular restaurant needs to
comprehend the pricing information provided on the menu, but does not need to recognize the name
of every appetizer listed. A person reading poetry for enjoyment needs to recognize the words the
poet uses and the ways they are put together, but does not need to identify main idea and supporting
details. However, a person using a scientific article to support an opinion needs to know the
vocabulary that is used, understand the facts and cause–effect sequences that are presented, and
recognize ideas that are presented as hypotheses and givens.
Reading research shows that good readers
· Read extensively
· Integrate information in the text with existing knowledge
· Have a flexible reading style, depending on what they are reading
· Are motivated
· Rely on different skills interacting: perceptual processing, phonemic processing, recall
· Read for a purpose; reading serves a function
Reading as a Process
Historically, listening and reading skills have received less attention in language teaching than have
the productive skills of

A Research Study On High Stakes Testing
1. Sample – A common noun that is not exclusively used in science, a sample is a small piece or
group that is representative of a larger whole. For example, my job requires that I analyze samples
of data like groups of students or certain schools to make inferences that help me make decisions for
the entire district. Sherman Dorm (2012) uses the word in his educational blog: "When my son's
preschool teachers in the late 1990s cut up samples of almost a dozen types of fruit for his class to
try, was that play or academics?" While this example is not used in terms of research; it does,
however, convey the understanding that a sample is a small piece of a larger whole. That said, in my
research on high–stakes testing, I expect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the sources refer to triangulation in the social and behavioral sciences as well, which refers
to the use of more than one research method to analyze a set of data. In my research on the
usefulness or effectiveness of high–stakes testing, I will refer to many methods of data collection.
Some might include anecdotal observations while others might be surveys and still others might be
test results. A utilization of these different methods to make one inference would be using
triangulation,
4. Evaluation – A researcher evaluates when he/she ascertains the importance or effectiveness of a
study or any set of data. This is something that I did in my review of "The Impact of High–Stakes
Tests on Student Academic Performance: An Analysis of NAEP Results in States With High–Stakes
Tests and ACT, SAT, and AP Test Results in States With High School Graduation Exams." I wrote
"although much has changed since this article was published, the data presented through surveys and
national testing data suggest a correlation between high–stakes testing and factors such as student
performance, teacher retention, and student dropout rates." In this case, I evaluated the timeliness
and relevance of the data.
5. Action research – Action research is characterized by one's participation in an effort to make a
change in an existing organization while simultaneously collecting data with the intent to improve

Ethical Issues in Business

ETHICAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS 2 Company Q is a small local grocery store chain that has a poor
attitude toward social responsibility. After reviewing the given, I feel the chain is more committed to
profit than social responsibility. Most companies are in a business to make a profit, however, the
difference in what is considered reasonable and what is considered ridiculous comes into play. Most
people start companies because it something they are interested in and to make a living. In today's
society the line between outright social responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I were a company I would never want to advertise that those are the types of employees I have, it
would be a management issue and not a community problem. Company Q missed a few
opportunities to improve their attitude toward social responsibility. The first is closing the stores.
The areas where the stores closed were in high–crime–rate areas, before
ETHICAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS 3 closing the stores they could have done community outreach
or service projects to help lower the rate of crime. They could have led the establishment of a
neighborhood crime watch. They could have set up a mentorship program for teens at risk. There are
a multitude of programs they could have implemented, some could probably have been used as a tax
write off. If all of these efforts failed then I understand closing the stores. If they had to close the
stores they should have made every effort to be sure that the displaced employees were able to find a
job in another store or assisted them in being placed in another job. They also need to make every
attempt to keep the building they were using occupied or cleaned up until it is occupied. How do
these actions contribute to being socially responsible? It shows they care about their community,
that even though they may have to shut down a store, they still

Ethical Vignette Essay
Title: Ethical Vignette
Abstract
In this paper I will discuss the ethical vignette as it deals with confidentiality and ethical dilemmas
that counselor's face. I will reflect on a video presentation as well as the North Carolina rules and
regulation and the ACA Code of Ethics as it relates to confidentiality and ethics. I will explain why
confidentiality is important and what the rules says about it. This will help me and others to become
a better counselor.

Next I looked at what ACA code of Ethics mandates that we do concerning these matters. In Section
B.1.c counselor has to respect the rights of all clients to confidentiality and cannot share the
information without client consent or without legal or ethical justification. Also in Section C.2.e and
f states that the Counselors should take reasonable steps to consult with other counselors or related
professionals when they have questions regarding their ethical obligations or professional practice
and they must take continuing education so that they can maintain reasonable levels of awareness.
Response
My reaction to the video at first was "This is a long video" then I began to really listen to what they
were talking about and reflect on what they were saying and how it applies to me right now. I began
to change my thought process on how serious this really is. Now believe me I know how important
it is because I work in the field every day, but it made me want to make sure that I'm doing the right
things the way that they are supposed to be done. Making sure that confidentiality

Effects Of Reading Instruction On The Literacy Development...
The Effects of Reading Instruction on Students of Low–Socioeconomic Status
Amelia K.L. Reynolds

Abstract
This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading
instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review
the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more
advantageous method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this
literature review is to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy
development of children and how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed
was collected from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers
Library website. The majority of the researcher's findings came from EBSCOhost Education
Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of this literature review,
research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom,
promotes growth in literacy skills among young children. Research suggests that multisensory
phonics, based on Orton–Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at–
risk, however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. This literature
review suggests that multisensory phonics should be utilized in a whole language classroom to
determine if its use promotes growth in

Purchasing Ethics
Scenario 1
1.) What should Bryan do about the clock?
Bryan should explain to his wife Nina what could happen if his boss found out about the clock. He
should explain the ethics policy set in place at his job and that he could lose his job if word got back
of them accepting the clock. Finally he should explain to her that he is looking out for the company's
reputation as well and wants to behave in an ethical manner. Stressing the fact that "ethical buyers

Finally he may have even thought that Bryan would be easily influenced by thinking no one would
find out with him using the method that he did to get the clock to him.
4.) Does the mere act of sending the clock to Bryan mean that Mr. McEnroe is an unethical
salesperson? I would definitely say yes the mere act presents him as an unethical salesperson. To me
it's like a person trying to rob a bank but getting caught before actually getting away with anything.
It's considered attempted robbery because there was an attempt to commit a crime. Same goes for
Mr. McEnroe in this case. He attempted to do something unethical therefore to me he would be
categorized as an unethical salesperson due to his actions. The act was already unethical but he took
it even a step further towards being unethical by going to great links to cover his "trail".
Scenario 4 1.) What does the Institute of Supply Management code of ethics say about financial
conflicts of interest?
"When a buyer awards business to a supplier because the buyer, the buyer's family, or relatives of
the buyer have a direct financial interest in a supplier, this is considered a major unethical practice"
(Handfield, Giunipero, Monczka, & Patterson, 2011). The ISM stresses the importance of
making sure that a company avoids financial conflicts of interest at all cost. "Even though a conflict

Essay about Personal Statement
Ever since I graduated from high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be in
life. All I knew is that I wanted to do something that was worth while and would make a difference
in today's society. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to a community college or a university. I would
weigh my options between the two. I would say to myself, "If I go to a community college, I would
graduate quicker. But if I go to a university, it would take longer." In order to help make a quick and
effective decision, I began to ask questions and finding out more information. After carefully
reviewing all advantages or disadvantages of both types of schooling, I decided a university. When I

For the ones who didn't make it, they would have to wait another year to try again. I just thought all
these rules or regulations were stupid and ridiculous. An example would be the nursing students who
couldn't get into upper division and would have to wait another year. I feel like they worked so hard
and spent all the time to try to get into the upper division and then for them to tell the students that
they didn't get in, is unbelievable. After all that nonsense, I decided to change my major to
psychology. I am not going to lie, at first I didn't want to major in psychology because I wasn't
interested in the field. But once I began taking classes for the field, I became interested and wanting
to learn more about psychology. Since psychology was so broad, I wasn't sure what career I would
make out of having psychology degree. All that changed once I was in counseling psychology. I was
sure I wanted to either be a high school counselor or a forensic psychologist. The main reason I
wanted to be a high school counselor is because I wanted to try and help younger children,
especially with the high school population. The reason being is because they are the ones who are
being put so much pressure upon. The pressure to go to college, find a job, keeping grades up in all
classes, etc. I would know because I've been there. It wasn't only my parents who put pressure on
me; it was my friends and other

Corporate Social Responsibility Essay
It is obvious that people have become more conscious of the ethical and social responsibilities of
business over recent decades, suggesting that the modern businesspeople should not only consider
about profitability but also extent to what they can contribute to the whole society. A quote by Anita
Roddick generally demonstrates the spirit of being ethically and socially responsible: "The business
of business should not be about money. It should be about responsibility. It should be about public
good, not private greed." With the increasing significance of the harmonization of society, the view
about whether businesses should be responsible for both ethics and society has been sparked off a
heated discussion. From some people's perspective, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Garriga and Mele later summarized four categories to be socially responsible, which are
instrumental, political, integrative and ethical theories (Ismail, 2009; p200). Generally speaking, the
distinction between ethic responsibilities and CSR is that, the former aims at evaluating an
individual's or a work group's decisions, while CSR concerns about the activities of the whole
business (Ferrell et al, 2013; p30).
Some people tend to believe that since the ethical responsibilities of an organization are only
reflected by individuals or a group of people rather than the performance of entire business, it would
not have much significant impact on the organization directly when it does not attach much
importance on ethical responsibilities. Here is an associated example of a corporation being lack of
ethical accountable. According to Singer (1999; online), in 1994, six African–Americans workers of
Texaco claimed that they were racially discriminated by Texaco for being not promoted at an
equivalent rate as the equally qualified Caucasian staff and paid less when coping with an equivalent
works and responsibilities as those employees. Texaco had been

Design and Culture Abstract: Uses "Design" in a different way; but one must add that a universal
language is being constructed daily. design is understood here as a phenomenon which affects
everybody. design is characterized by a dual alliance with both mass production and mass
consumption and that these two phenomena have determined nearly all its manifestations .Industry
unconsciously evolved its own aesthetic, and this aesthetic was from the beginning one which
intelligent designers, whatever their background, tried to obey .

Like Janus, design looks in tow directions at the same time: as a silent quality of all mass–produced
goods it plays a generally unacknowledged but vital role in all our lives; as a named concept within
the mass media, it is, however, much more visible and generally recognized. In this latter guise
design becomes an extension of marketing and advertising. The "designer–jeans" phenomenon,
which persuades us to buy a product because it has been designed, is, culturally speaking, totally
distinct from the activity of the anonymous designers within industry who resolve the problems of
cost, appearance and use in consumer products. The way in which design as an adjunct of marketing
has grown out of design as an aspect of mass production is a major theme within the story of modem
design and the focus of this book. It is a change which directly mirrors the way in which the model
of mass–production industry, as presented by Henry Ford, which dominated American ideas about
industrial organization in the early twentieth century, has been challenged by an alternative model
which stresses batch production, a smaller scale of operations (or set of operations), and, at times, a

A lot of money would be used for solving the social problems. Most of the time, there is limited

resources, most of the organizations will possess the resources (such as money and expertise)

Analysis:
My analysis is that is in order to solve these social problems, the environment will need to be
cleaner. Our organization would benefit by contributing to assist in correcting these issues. The
company can use ethical decision making to secure the organization environmental responsibility.
Decisions that would allow for government agencies to get involved with the organization. For

Obesity also affects hiring, evaluations, expectations, and individual's salaries (Judge & Cable,

its own set of issues for businesses, individuals, and society; it creates a multitude of issues for
social psychologists, occupational therapists, and psychoanalytic counselors to work with. Another
way obesity relates to the counseling practice, is the sheer number of people who are obese or have
been; this is an issue because of the psychological manifestations that can happen from not only
being obese, but in becoming and recovering from being obese. As the general public has obesity as
a main concern, it is not having adequate support for treatment. Counselors across the US deal with
patients that have internalized the messages passed on from their parents and their environment.
Doctors and Counselors both help patients who have a biologically based obesity, and yet still have

Social Implications Of Business Ethics

Unit 37 – Assignment 3
Social implications of business ethics
Introduction
In this assignment I have been asked to describe the social implications of business ethics facing a
selected business in its different areas of activity. I have then been asked to assess these social
implications of business ethics.
The business organisation I have chosen for this assignment is 'Boots'.
Social implications (P3)
Social implication is a term used to describe the actions of a business that will have an impact on
society as a whole. These could be ethical practises or unethical practises.
There are many different social implications a business might have, these social implications are
highlighted by the way a business will chose to operate. The different social implications a business
might have are related to different areas or departments of activity within a business.
These different areas of activity are:
Ethics in finance
Ethics in production
Ethics in human resources management
Ethics in sales and marketing
Ethics in finance
Ethics in finance is a very important factor to consider when dealing with social implications. There
are lots of unethical behaviour within finance. The main aim for most business organisations is to
generate profit, if something stands in the way of this, a business may chose to use unethical
practises to get around the issue.
Ethics in finance can be broken down into different factors such as, bribery, payday loans, insider

all examples of physical ailments commonly treated by Kinesiology. Mental ailments include
learning disabilities, emotional stress, depression, phobias and fears, past trauma and others.
Other issues that have been successfully treated by Kinesiology include behavioral problems,

What is Business Ethics?
In today's business world businesses face the challenge of doing the right thing over doing the
profitable thing more than ever before. For many years the sole purpose of business was to be make
profits for the shareholders. This view has now been changed. The propriety of business actions is
being challenged by the modern day consumer. One of the major issues or opportunities (depending
on which way one may see it) is the issue of 'going–green'. Consumers in today's society have
access to a large archive of information and the consumer will take up the opportunity to look up the
practices of a business. This can place a strain on business as they are constantly being watched by
consumers. The role which business plays in its surrounding community is one that has been
mistakenly avoided by many companies in the past.
The focus of this study is to point out the role that the ethics and corporate social responsibility play
in the sustainability of a business in today's world. The study will seek to an extent point out the
importance of good business practices in respect to ethics and social responsibility.
What is Ethics?
Before we diverse into the understanding of the role of ethics in business it is vital we have a firm
and clear understanding of the word 'ethics' itself. The word ethics has Greek roots derived from the
word 'ethos' which means accepted behaviour. After reading a number of definitions of the word one
has come to the conclusion that ethics has to deal

Sales and Ethics
Memorandum

From:
Date: December 2, 2014
RE: Ethics and Sales Assignment
This memo concerns my ethics and sales assignment for ABM 222. In this memo I will discuss the
importance of ethics in a sales role. I will also discuss when stretching the truth is acceptable or not
and the different ways I would react to unethical practices.
I believe that ethics can exist in a commission only bases sales position. Not only does business
ethics exist in a commission based sales position, I think it is very important. The way a sales
representative makes money is a commission–based position is through their sales. Without the
customers purchasing from them, they have no income. Ethics is very important in this position
because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may be hard in certain circumstances to not stretch the truth, but I think it shouldn't happen. There
is a lot of risk involved with stretching the truth. When speaking with a customer, a sales person
should be honest with the things they are guaranteeing the customer. If a customer were to ask for
something that I am not entirely sure my company or me can complete I think it is best to be honest.
You can tell the customer, "I am not 100% sure about your question at the moment. I will absolutely
check with my boss and get back to you." Not only are you making sure the customer is getting
what they want, but you are being honest in the process. If I were to tell the customer that I could do
something for them, when in fact I can't I could lose the trust of the customer, which in turn will lose
business. Another thing that I thought about is the fact that sometimes lies play off of each other. I
think stretching the truth and lying are very related. If a sales representative were to stretch the truth
and potentially lie to a customer it could cause a ripple effect that continues with lies because the
sales representative can't uphold the first lie they made. In any situation, it is ethical to be honest.
If I were offered a business deal that violated common business ethics I would first assess the
situation and look at the reasons that the offer is unethical. Once I analyzed the situation I would

Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Essay
Ethics in the workplace help the organization to grow and prosper. They bring about leadership,
work culture and literacy. Ethic are beliefs about what's right or wrong and good or bad based on
individual's values and morals, plus a behavior social context. Ethical behavior conforms to
individual beliefs and social norms about what's right and good. Unethical behavior conforms to
individual beliefs and social norms about what's wrong or bad. Business ethics refers to ethical or
unethical behavior by employees in the context of their jobs.
Ethics are talked about frequently and addressed in the news when unethical decisions are found.
Sadly, people do not hear about ethics when others are engaging in ethical behavior on a daily basis.

Ethics are thought of by many people as something that is related to the private side of life and not
to the business side. In many businesses, having ethics is frowned upon or thought of as a negative
subject. This is because business is usually about doing what's best for number one, not about what's
really the right thing to do. Personal ethics is a branch that determines the code of conduct one
adheres to. It's a course of action an individual decides to take up in order to reach the ultimate truth.
Following personal code of ethics brings accountability and responsibility to life. It gives a purpose
and direction, bringing out a meaning to life. Personal ethics are huge determining factors of ethics
at the workplace.
The usage of proper ethics in any workplace is vital to the success of the company. Unfortunately,
companies fail and people sometimes even go to jail because of unethical decisions made at work.
Take ENRON, for example. Were the actions of Enron's CEO's a good example of ethics? No. But,
what they were a classic example of was two things: One, those actions displayed how ethics were
not used in any way. Two, their actions painted a grim and realistic picture of what can happen when
ethics are neglected. Had ethics been considered in the first place by the leaders of the company,
there would have been no scandal. If ethics were used on a daily basis in every company, there
would never

Business Ethics And Social Responsibility
Business Ethics and Social Responsibility
During this short summer class, I have understood more than I ever could have done before. Not
only because the study of ethics is crucial, but also because being socially responsible is part of
being ethical. Among the most important assignments required from this course are: Journals,
discussion boards, social project, and the lectures. However, the first group collaboration was our
own code of ethics; from there, students were required to follow it as part of the course.
Once our instructor processed all the information provided, she decided to post it, and I would like
to share the ones I like the most:
I will be aware of deadlines and start early enough to allow time for questions to be asked and
answered before assignments are due (because there is no excuse for ignorance).
I will read carefully and refrain from rushing to judgment (the J word is so powerful that sometimes
we judge before gathering the facts).
Students will be expected to maintain a high level of honesty and transparency through this class. It
is expected that this same level of honesty will be carried throughout the college career (and I would
add "to the rest of my life").
Although every institution should carry a code of conduct or ethics, companies like Enron
challenged its own code to become one of the most notorious cases of corruption, greed, and,
conflict of interest. According to the textbook, ethics is simply defined as "how" humans should

Exploring Psychology Careers Everyone who decides to enroll in college must, at some point, think
about what area they want to major in. There are many things that students consider when choosing
a major. Some make their decision based on what they think can make them the most money once
they begin their lives in the work force. However, many students believe that if you choose a major
that interests you and challenges you then you can use those skills that can help you in any career.

in order to become a clinical psychologist the journey begins with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
Next the student must obtain a graduate degree. Each graduate program determines its own entrance

Language learning opportunities gained by ELLs are those that native speakers acquire implicitly.
Language and literacy learning opportunities including detailed vocabulary instruction, variables

The Role Of A School Psychologist Through The Eyes Of. Essay

psychology, were some options, but they did not work for me. Mrs. Amos was the first school
psychologist, I met in Maryland, other than BSU faculty. After conversing with Mrs. Amos, I was
able to analyze the theory that most of my mentors, teachers and friends foresaw the profession of
School Psychology to be. Their theory consists of testing, testing, testing and report writing. Most of
the people that I consulted my interest in School Psychology advised me to consider counseling
instead. As I am learning more about the school systems in Maryland I have found that
approximately 75 percent of the school psychologists in Maryland distribute their time through
testing and report writing. However, there is a small percentage of School Psychologist who
emphasize working with students through intervention and consultation, instead of testing and report

While conversing with Mrs. Amos she mentioned that her job revolves around testing, assessing
children and report writing. As a school psychologist in Prince George's county she is responsible
for working in three different elementary schools. She spends most of her time at Northview

Overview
The mind – body connection can be seen as a point of balance between one's mind and their body; it
is the point at which the mind and the body are at equilibrium. "There should be a comprehensive
approach for both mind and body. This reciprocal relationship maximizes health benefits, and has
exponentially positive consequences beyond the individual." ("Mind–body connection attained,"

The Philosophical Perspective The mind–body connection alludes to the affinity between the mind
and body, specifically in matters of health and well–being. It is founded on the notion that an
individual 's thoughts and emotions affect the body, as do social and behavioral factors. "A strong
and healthy body is believed to have a positive effect on the mind, and a positive mind
correspondingly allows for a healthy strong body" (Clarke, 2001). A philosophical perspective of the
mind and body affiliation provides added insight into the various schools of thought regarding the
ways in which our minds and our bodies interact. While some 'dualist '–based philosophies suggest
that the mind is an entity completely independent of the body and vice versa, 'monoist ' viewpoints
propose that the mind and the body are a part of a single being and thus function as one unit
accomplishing different objectives. One such stance is the philosophical theory of behaviorism,
which holds that "being in a mental state is the same as being in a physical state. In other words,
since all that we can know about another person 's state of mind is through their behavior, there is
nothing else" (Gatis, 2003). Thus the way one thinks has a direct impact on the way the body
functions. For example, if an individual were to say, "I am

Proposal On Adult Literacy
Final Proposal
Introduction:
Little is known for acquiring literacy. As Quigley (1997) claimed, we actually barely know about
those who were studied in the literacy studies. According to a study conducted by the U.S.
Department of Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 32 million adults in the U.S. can't
read. That's about 14 percent of the population. It is a call for researchers to draw attention on
developing adult literacy program. Admittedly, many articles discuss about adult literacy levels and
their participation in a general view (Kutner, Greenberg, & Baer, 2005; U.S. Department of
Education Co–operation and Development), but this article intends to focus on a case study of low
literacy adult learners in ESL (English as a second language) reading context. The main point of this
research was to observe how the reading acquisition happened in LLA (Low Literacy Adult). Are
there any useful learning strategies for LLA reading? In broad prospect, the research eagers to
enlighten those who teach and instruct ESL adult learners.
Literature:
1. Discussion about Literacy
Literacy is a fundamental social skill in our life. Many past studies of adult literacy have tried to
count the "low literacy" in the U.S, evaluating literacy as a simple checklist that individuals either
do or do not have, however, the definition of the literacy are still argued in the teaching field that
many researchers think it's too simple to narrow down the literacy into rigid categories.

that never change was the passion towards helping people. Ever since I could remember I have a gift

it's what makes the journey worth living. I was committed to my dream ever since I was in High

since I made the choice to follow that specific career path I have not yet looked any other way but to

Psychology is the study of the mind, its biology, and behavior if the individual. The father of
psychology, Wilhelm Wundt, used objective measurement and controlled analyzing to find and
emphasize separation between psychology and philosophy (McLeod). Wundt opened the Institute
for Experimental Psychology at the University of Leipzig in Germany in 1879, using his
background in physiology to study reactions and sensations (McLeod). There is no doubt that he,
along with the later help of Sigmund Freud, launched what is now modern psychology. Psychology

Hypnosis is an intense state of consciousness in which the psychologist asks several specific
questions to either alleviate pain or come to a better understanding of the symptom of event that
causes them distress. Although a controversial tactic, those who choose to go through with hypnosis
can only be hypnotized if they are willing. If a patient requires more treatment such as medication, a
psychologist can work with medical personnel to further their recovery ("What Do"). They work
with a person's motivation and energy to examine their thoughts, feelings, and behavior to develop
ideas about how to move forward with their life (Cohen). Forensic psychology deals with both the
offenders of the law, and the victims (AGCAS). Although many people think of a forensic
psychologist as what they see on television shows, profiling and finding the actual offenders is a
tiny part of what the title actually works as (AGCAS). The majority of forensic psychologists work
in prisons, probation services, hospitals, and the National Health Service (AGCAS). Those who
work in the Prison Service offer one on one sessions with offenders. They also assess whether they
are at risk to themselves, others within the prison, or the public, if they have the possibility of being
released, by instituting rehabilitation programs, probation programs, and any other mental and
emotional therapy they require (AGCAS).

Standards For Financial Decision Making
Abstract. The article reviewed was Standards for Financial Decision–Making: Legal, Ethical, and
Practical Issues. The key of the abstract is to emphasize the existence of standards and statutory
mechanisms for financial decision–making. The article is based on standards of the National
Guardianship Association (NGA) (p. 1275).
Introduction. The authors study the meaning of term "standard". Some dictionaries determine the
term "standard" as a model of acceptance, others – as a measuring criterion. If entities do not operate
under the established standards, they face with sanctions for ethical violations and professional
negligence. The authors analyzes principles and guidance of NGA standards, and frequent mistakes
when making financial decisions. The main objective of the study is to analyze conflicting issues of
financial decision–making, guardianship problems, and adoption of NGA standards (pp. 1275–
1276). The study is important because it demonstrates practical approaches of applying standards to
the common financial decisions. The authors consider two problems: the impact of fiduciary duties
on decision–making standards, and the acceptance of model behavior by guardians of business.
Literature Review. The authors use a systematic review of literature in the research. The literature
review is categorized into three parts: general principles of decision–making, the role of guardian
and conservator in decision–making, the relationships between fiduciary duties and

Motivation Of Professionalism And Success

Motivation to Professionalism Student professionalism and success are required to work together to
motivate the student to be an efficient employee in the future. I am a good example of a student in
progress because I always arrive on time to my classes or work; follow any directions from my
professors or employers, and follow ethics that influence my professional behavior towards other
individuals. These ideas and ethics will benefit me in the future because it will satisfy the
requirements of employers and will assist me in to obtaining promotions. Professionalism and
success is what humans need to survive in modern society. As you read, you will need a basic
understanding of ethics and what do they propose towards professionalism. My ethics allowed me to
be a great example of student success because every day is one step closer to my educational goals.
In order to reach my educational goals, I must follow three simple expectations; arrive on time to
class and work to be prepared for assignments and tasks provided by the professor or supervisor.
When I follow my ethics, it allows me to behave professionally and accomplish my responsibilities
as they come and go. For professional behavior, my definition for student success has now expanded
beyond the achievement of goals into a larger realization that success is interdependent and
systemic. It doesn't begin and end with the individual or even two individuals.

The Theory Of Social Responsibility
The pattern of social responsibility will be demonstrated in this paper by noting a couple inquiries
encompassing the thought and routine of social responsibility. The paper will start with
characterizing the idea of social responsibility and noting the accompanying inquiries: What does
Cohen feel is the social responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society as a
whole? How does this perspective align with that of Drucker? How does Cohen's opinion compare
with that of Friedman? Which aligns best with the current business climate promoting a 'green
environment'? Why? Social Responsibility Druker inferred that "each organization must accept full
responsibility regarding its effect on workers, the earth, clients, and whomever and whatever it
touches" is social responsibility (Cohen, 2009 p. 31). Generally, social responsibility is a leadership
commitment to society and that organizational must act as needs be to accommodate the well–being
and interest of the general public that it influences. Social responsibility can 't be satisfied through

The Importance Of Early Literacy Environment
A child's home environment is critical to their cognitive development and linguistic skills which are
an important factor in early literacy development. Previous studies have identified reading aloud to
children and shared reading can aid in building the necessary skills and understanding for reading.
Print exposure is an important prerequisite for children to understand the phonemic structure of
langue and identify letters. When parents guide their children through reading, it helps children's
understanding, learn vocabulary, and learn strategies for information processing. Based on the
child's environment there are important difference in families use of langue and reading related to
academic functioning. It is unknown if the family's literacy environment impacts the child's reading
or academic functioning with children with reading disabilities. "Home literacy environment" refers
to literacy–related activities at home and the frequency of reading. Saracho stated a child's literacy
development is related to the parents' literacy level and available reading materials. Three aspects
important for literacy development, according to Leseman and de Jong, are the opportunity to
practice, motivation, and encouragement to read. Other studies extended the definition of home
literacy environment to include the age of the child when joint reading occurred, library visits, and
behaviors that interfered with reading as well as considering the parent as an important

  • 3. Forensic Psychology : A More Than One Career Option Forensic psychology is a varied field that can lead to more than one career option, and provides more than one path to get into the position you're seeking. A master's degree is required to work in the field of forensic psychology. With a master's degree you could work as a correctional officer, a parole or probation officer, or as a counselor to criminal offenders, a counselor to victims of crime, or a counselor to people who abuse drugs and alcohol. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics correctional officers earned a median salary of $38,970 a year in 2012 (BLS1); while parole or probation officers earned a median salary of $48,190 (BLS2), and drug and alcohol abuse counselors earned a mean annual wage of $38,520 (BLS3) for the same year. Accordingly, those who go on to get a PhD or PsyD in forensic psychology can open quite a few other doors for themselves; working as clinicians in a correctional setting, working with prosecutors who anticipate a legal insanity defense, working with SWAT unit negotiations in a consulting role, as expert witnesses in jury trials, mediating child custody cases, social science research, a professor in forensic psychology, and even in helping to formulate public policy dealing with psychology and the law. Forensic psychologists can wear many hats, and their work opportunities can be sporadic; so their salaries are hard to track. The BLS states that general psychologists made a median annual wage of $69,280 a year in 2012 (BLS4), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Teaching Reading Comprehension Introduction What is reading? Reading is about understanding written texts. It is a complex activity that involves both perception and thought. Reading consists of two related processes: word recognition and comprehension. Word recognition refers to the process of perceiving how written symbols correspond to one's spoken language. Comprehension is the process of making sense of words, sentences and connected text. Readers typically make use of background knowledge, vocabulary, grammatical knowledge, experience with text and other strategies to help them understand written text. A person reading poetry for enjoyment needs to recognize the words the poet uses and the ways they are put together, but does not need to identify main idea and supporting details. For example, my job requires that I analyze samples of data like groups of students or certain schools to make inferences that help me make decisions for the entire district. Sherman Dorm (2012) uses the word in his educational blog: "When my son's preschool teachers in the late 1990s cut up samples of almost a dozen types of fruit for his class to try, was that play or academics?" A utilization of these different methods to make one inference would be using triangulation, 4. Evaluation – A researcher evaluates when he/she ascertains the importance or effectiveness of a study or any set of data. This is something that I did in my review of "The Impact of High–Stakes Tests on Student Academic Performance: An Analysis of NAEP Results in States With High–Stakes Tests and ACT, SAT, and AP Test Results in States With High School Graduation Exams." I wrote "although much has changed since this article was published, the data presented through surveys and national testing data suggest a correlation between high–stakes testing and factors such as student performance, teacher retention, and student dropout rates." After reviewing the given, I feel the chain is more committed to profit than social responsibility. The areas where the stores closed were in high–crime–rate areas, before ETHICAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS 3 closing the stores they could have done community outreach or service projects to help lower the rate of crime. They could have led the establishment of a neighborhood crime watch. They could have set up a mentorship program for teens at risk. There are a multitude of programs they could have implemented, some could probably have been used as a tax write off. If all of these efforts failed then I understand closing the stores. If they had to close the stores they should have made every effort to be sure that the displaced employees were able to find a job in another store or assisted them in being placed in another job. Reynolds Edmond, Oklahoma Abstract This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more advantageous method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers Library website. The majority of the researcher's findings came from EBSCOhost Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton–Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at– risk, however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. Does the mere act of sending the clock to Bryan mean that Mr. McEnroe is an unethical salesperson? I would definitely say yes the mere act presents him as an unethical salesperson. To me it's like a person trying to rob a bank but getting caught before actually getting away with anything. It's considered attempted robbery because there was an attempt to commit a crime. Same goes for Mr. McEnroe in this case. He attempted to do something unethical therefore to me he would be categorized as an unethical salesperson due to his actions. The act was already unethical but he took it even a step further towards being unethical by going to great links to cover his "trail". Scenario 4 1.) What does the Institute of Supply Management code of ethics say about financial conflicts of interest? "When a buyer awards business to a supplier because the buyer, the buyer's family, or relatives of the buyer have a direct financial interest in a supplier, this is considered a major unethical practice" (Handfield, Giunipero, Monczka, & Patterson, 2011). I was sure I wanted to either be a high school counselor or a forensic psychologist. The main reason I wanted to be a high school counselor is because I wanted to try and help younger children, especially with the high school population. The reason being is because they are the ones who are being put so much pressure upon. • 19. Corporate Social Responsibility Essay It is obvious that people have become more conscious of the ethical and social responsibilities of business over recent decades, suggesting that the modern businesspeople should not only consider about profitability but also extent to what they can contribute to the whole society. A quote by Anita Roddick generally demonstrates the spirit of being ethically and socially responsible: "The business of business should not be about money. It should be about responsibility. It should be about public good, not private greed." With the increasing significance of the harmonization of society, the view about whether businesses should be responsible for both ethics and society has been sparked off a heated discussion. From some people's perspective, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Garriga and Mele later summarized four categories to be socially responsible, which are instrumental, political, integrative and ethical theories (Ismail, 2009; p200). Generally speaking, the distinction between ethic responsibilities and CSR is that, the former aims at evaluating an individual's or a work group's decisions, while CSR concerns about the activities of the whole business (Ferrell et al, 2013; p30). Some people tend to believe that since the ethical responsibilities of an organization are only reflected by individuals or a group of people rather than the performance of entire business, it would not have much significant impact on the organization directly when it does not attach much importance on ethical responsibilities. Here is an associated example of a corporation being lack of ethical accountable. According to Singer (1999; online), in 1994, six African–Americans workers of Texaco claimed that they were racially discriminated by Texaco for being not promoted at an equivalent rate as the equally qualified Caucasian staff and paid less when coping with an equivalent works and responsibilities as those employees. Like Janus, design looks in tow directions at the same time: as a silent quality of all mass–produced goods it plays a generally unacknowledged but vital role in all our lives; as a named concept within the mass media, it is, however, much more visible and generally recognized. In this latter guise design becomes an extension of marketing and advertising. The "designer–jeans" phenomenon, which persuades us to buy a product because it has been designed, is, culturally speaking, totally distinct from the activity of the anonymous designers within industry who resolve the problems of cost, appearance and use in consumer products. The way in which design as an adjunct of marketing has grown out of design as an aspect of mass production is a major theme within the story of modem design and the focus of this book. It is a change which directly mirrors the way in which the model of mass–production industry, as presented by Henry Ford, which dominated American ideas about industrial organization in the early twentieth century, has been challenged by an alternative model which stresses batch production, a smaller scale of operations (or set of operations), and, at times, a fair amount of ... For many years the sole purpose of business was to be make profits for the shareholders. This view has now been changed. The propriety of business actions is being challenged by the modern day consumer. One of the major issues or opportunities (depending on which way one may see it) is the issue of 'going–green'. Consumers in today's society have access to a large archive of information and the consumer will take up the opportunity to look up the practices of a business. This can place a strain on business as they are constantly being watched by consumers. I believe that ethics can exist in a commission only bases sales position. Not only does business ethics exist in a commission based sales position, I think it is very important. There is a lot of risk involved with stretching the truth. When speaking with a customer, a sales person should be honest with the things they are guaranteeing the customer. If a customer were to ask for something that I am not entirely sure my company or me can complete I think it is best to be honest. You can tell the customer, "I am not 100% sure about your question at the moment. I will absolutely check with my boss and get back to you." Not only are you making sure the customer is getting what they want, but you are being honest in the process. If I were to tell the customer that I could do something for them, when in fact I can't I could lose the trust of the customer, which in turn will lose business. Another thing that I thought about is the fact that sometimes lies play off of each other. I think stretching the truth and lying are very related. If a sales representative were to stretch the truth and potentially lie to a customer it could cause a ripple effect that continues with lies because the sales representative can't uphold the first lie they made. In any situation, it is ethical to be honest. If I were offered a business deal that violated common business ethics I would first assess the situation and look at the reasons that the offer is unethical. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Philosophical Perspective The mind–body connection alludes to the affinity between the mind and body, specifically in matters of health and well–being. It is founded on the notion that an individual 's thoughts and emotions affect the body, as do social and behavioral factors. "A strong and healthy body is believed to have a positive effect on the mind, and a positive mind correspondingly allows for a healthy strong body" (Clarke, 2001). A philosophical perspective of the mind and body affiliation provides added insight into the various schools of thought regarding the ways in which our minds and our bodies interact. While some 'dualist '–based philosophies suggest that the mind is an entity completely independent of the body and vice versa, 'monoist ' viewpoints propose that the mind and the body are a part of a single being and thus function as one unit accomplishing different objectives. One such stance is the philosophical theory of behaviorism, which holds that "being in a mental state is the same as being in a physical state. In other words, since all that we can know about another person 's state of mind is through their behavior, there is nothing else" (Gatis, 2003). The main point of this research was to observe how the reading acquisition happened in LLA (Low Literacy Adult). Are there any useful learning strategies for LLA reading? • 72. My Life Of My Mother Literacy has always been close to my identity as a person. My mother wanted the best for her children, and therefore would sing and read to us as soon as we were born. She encouraged out love of words and books by taking us to the library for reading time and always seemed to find the most amazing books for us to explore. My mother is very musically gifted, so songs were part of our daily routine. There are still little songs that pop into my head about daily tasks that she created to help us learn and make work and learning fun. When I grew a bit older, around the age of four, my mother formed a group with other women in our neighborhood to form a preschool. They used the Joy School curriculum and took turns having all of us over to their homes so that we could learn and play together. I remember there was lots of music, reading many books, playing all sorts of games, and a yearly Christmas program. Around this time, I began to learn about phonics and loved figuring out which letters made which sounds. My mother tells me that I liked to rhyme a lot as a little child because I found it fun. She said she thinks this is when my love of poetry started to develop. As I transitioned into early elementary school, I was well prepared to enter Kindergarten. Because I have always been pretty independent and self–driven, my mother did not really have to push me to read. I started reading the summer before Kindergarten and knew most sight words and how to sound out words ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to reach my educational goals, I must follow three simple expectations; arrive on time to class and work to be prepared for assignments and tasks provided by the professor or supervisor. When I follow my ethics, it allows me to behave professionally and accomplish my responsibilities as they come and go. For professional behavior, my definition for student success has now expanded beyond the achievement of goals into a larger realization that success is interdependent and systemic. • 78. The Theory Of Social Responsibility The pattern of social responsibility will be demonstrated in this paper by noting a couple inquiries encompassing the thought and routine of social responsibility. The paper will start with characterizing the idea of social responsibility and noting the accompanying inquiries: What does Cohen feel is the social responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society as a whole? How does this perspective align with that of Drucker? How does Cohen's opinion compare with that of Friedman? Which aligns best with the current business climate promoting a 'green environment'? Why? Social Responsibility Druker inferred that "each organization must accept full responsibility regarding its effect on workers, the earth, clients, and whomever and whatever it touches" is social responsibility (Cohen, 2009 p. 31). Generally, social responsibility is a leadership commitment to society and that organizational must act as needs be to accommodate the well–being and interest of the general public that it influences. Social responsibility can 't be satisfied through governments alone which is the place where hierarchical social responsibility becomes possibly the most important factor. Moreover, there are numerous aspects in social responsibility, it simply depends of which venue of social responsibility is followed up on to encourage financial assistance. For instance, Cohen (2009) indicated a number of elusive contrasts by means of two distinctive rich business visionaries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
