A Good Teacher Has Not Only A Knowledge Of Early Childhood...
A good teacher has not only a knowledge of early childhood education, but the ability to empathize
with children and to give personalized care and attention. Early childhood is a highly diverse field
that serves children from birth through age 8. During these years, children participate in different
kinds of care and education settings.
To be a great teacher, it means that you have to be close, and you have to be observing while
listening to the child, so whenever you see a beautiful looking classroom, that's the one which
children are learning to succeed, you also can be sure that all the teachers are responsible and highly
intentional. Everything that a good teacher is creating by looking at the environment, considering
that the curriculum and teaching it to the children as individual people, and planning the learning
experiences, and interacting with the children and their families, they are respectful, responsible and
also thoughtful. And as they make decisions, big or small, they keep in mind that the outcomes that
they seek will come in handy one day. In responding to the whole upcoming opportunities as in the
teaching moments as the intentions of the teacher are guided in by the outcomes that the program is
trying to have a clear sense of how the aspects of the program can relate to and to promote the
desired goals that contributes to an intentional teachers' effectiveness. The learning goals are usually

A Treasure : A Good Teacher Is Always A Treasure
A Good Teacher Is Always a Treasure
There is no doubt that a good teacher is always a treasure. Many economically disadvantaged(VOC)
students in America grow up in a poor community, and they all fall under "the have–nots". These
students tend not to get a good education and not to be lucky in having a very good teacher. In
school, it is difficult for teachers to encourage students by making them feel confident and eager to
learn because there are many students from different backgrounds, but teachers can use particular
techniques that give students more motivation than other teachers who don't use particular
techniques. Meanwhile, teachers are a necessary part of a student's life and can change students in
efficient ways. In my opinion, excellent teachers inspire students to learn when they create a positive
environment and support their students.
One teaching technique that inspires students to learn(AC) is when teachers create a positive
environment. If teachers give students an inspiring room or use positive encouragement, they will
inspire them to gain knowledge and achieve their goals. Slowly, over a long period of time, the
students will be engaged in learning and have a positive attitude. For example, in the article "From
Cacophony to Harmony" by Julian Guthrie, he writes about Jack Martens, a music teacher at Ben
Franklin Middle School in San Francisco who feels that it is extremely important to pay particular
attention to creating a positive environment to make

A Good Teacher Needs Multiple Things
A good teacher needs multiple things to be successful. Among some of the most important traits are
patience, perseverance and the ability to adapt in any situation. Without these things, a teacher could
find themselves up a creek without a paddle. Patience is essential to the modern teacher. With all of
the potential distractions that children face in an age where an escape from reality is at their
fingertips, teachers must be patient in order to get their desired results from a class. With all of the
pressure that is placed on teachers these days by parents, peers, and administration, it may be hard
for a teacher to get everything that they need to do done. Handing papers out, putting grades in, and
constantly revising lesson plans to fit the needs and ability of the class, along with sticking to the
curriculum. These tasks can prove to be very challenging and tedious, and without a very colossal
amount of patience, a teacher might not make it. It does not only take patience to be a great teacher,
let alone survive in the world of education. Perseverance is another essential trait that the modern
teacher must possess. All of the patience in the world would not help the teacher who has given up.
When children refuse to work, show up, or even put in any more than minimal effort, the instructor
must keep trying. There may not be a way to reach every student in the classroom, but if the teacher
simply gives up, then they will not reach any child. When the curriculum changes

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
The definition of a good teacher is one that is dependent on opinion. Should you ask a pupil, you
would probably get a different answer than if you ask a teacher. From a student teacher perspective,
a good teacher must have a variety of qualities that can be adapted to different situations in the
classroom. Three of the most predominant aspects of being a good teacher include the ability to be
inclusive for all, the balance between fun and theoretical learning and being passionate.
Firstly, one central skill that makes a good teacher, is the ability to be inclusive for pupils with
different learning needs, as there are roughly 286,000 children with learning disabilities in the UK
(Mental Health Foundation). During my experience volunteering in a primary school, I engaged in
behavioural management. I was introduced to many children with additional support needs such as
ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and William's Syndrome. I recognised strategies such as
scaffolding, where a child who needs extra support is seated with a child who was more advanced
and would be able to act as a support in their learning and vice versa. This strategy portrayed that
every child comes with different life skills and has something to contribute and how the teacher can
include children with additional support needs in active learning through support from their peers.
This idea highlights how important it is for teachers to be compassionate about every child's
individual needs and personal

Ms. Rollins – I wanted to thank you sincerely, so I figured a letter would suffice. I still have the
thank you card you wrote me from freshman year. To be honest, I keep it in my bag so that I see the
advice you gave me everywhere I go–"keep writing". I don't know if my keeping of it is weird, but
I've passed the point in my life where the number of people I have weirded out has lost its count. I
don't know how long this will be, so feel free to skip to the end where I will add a "TL;DR"
summary. I think that from the moment I entered your class, you were a source of comfort. Really,
that's what a good teacher is. Not to be sappy, but having that sort of presence in your life makes a
difference. Despite the awfulness high school is and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To take the confusion out of what I'm trying to say, there was a lot going on my freshman year when
I first had you. I was shoved into a lot of waiting rooms only to be shoved into rooms that were
trying way to hard to come off as relaxing or laid–back. I met a lot of strangers who were so
interested in poking into the deep parts of my mind that even I hadn't explored. Who are they to do
that, right? They haven't earned anything. They get paid a hundred dollars an hour just to tell me
that, 'oh, yes, this is not normal behavior'. They get paid a hundred dollars an hour to write a
prescription. Do they even listen to what you say? The answer is they don't. They do not listen. They
do not help. I have learned that you cannot rely on people, especially strangers, to fix you. No one
will swoop in like She's All That to fix me with a make–over and spending time together in a
waiting room isn't an ideal date. What I am trying to get at is this–I have learned you have to fix
yourself. In no way am I the right person to ask about how to 'get better' or 'cure yourself' but what
works for me, even if it's only a little, is English: novels, poems, articles, etc. You cannot go to a

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
INTRODUCTION: What is teaching? Teaching is something many people desire to do in order to
help those learn with different teaching approaches. A lot of time is devoted to the 'what' of teaching
and what areas we should we cover, what resources do we need and so on. The 'how' of teaching
also gets a great deal of space and how to structure a lesson, manage classes, assess for learning for
learning and so on. "Do we ask the "who" question – who is the self that teaches? How does the
quality of my selfhood form – or deform – the way I relate to my students, my subject, my
colleagues, my world? How can educational institutions sustain and deepen the selfhood from which
good teaching comes?"– Parker J. Palmer (1998: 4).
WHAT IS A GOOD TEACHER?: A good teacher is someone who focuses on students needs and
styles of learning. Every student has different way of learning. In my experience to become a good
teacher one must take the time to speak and observe their students. I always observe my students
when they are speaking. One thing I have learned is to always ask the students what activity we will
be doing in their own words. This way I can see if they understand and are paying attention.
STRENGTH AND WEAKNESSES: The first time I taught it was in front of a bunch of eighth
graders. I was shaking and not confident in the way I was conducting class. I had no idea how to be
a teacher or how to speak. When I came to this program I had a better understanding

The Importance Of Being A Good Teacher
This essay contemplates my individual development, skill acquisition and exploration of teaching
approaches; throughout and beyond the International Teacher Training Organisation (ITTO)
program. The problems I encountered will be discussed; and their relation to establishing where my
wealth of primary teaching experience aligns with English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching
approaches. For example; efforts to reduce my teacher talk time compared to primary school
education was important, correcting pronunciation in an appropriate manner and correctly pacing
both my speech and activities were areas of development that were observed, reflected on personally
and subsequently acted upon.
What is a good teacher? Humans are social animals who need to feel connected with the teacher; to
enable an open and honest atmosphere to question misunderstandings and exchange knowledge. A
good teacher realises the importance of forming authentic relationships by expressing their true self
with their students. Hence, a good teacher demonstrates compassion, builds rapport and shows
empathy towards the challenges present within learning; by allowing students to see teachers as
fallible and therefore learners as well. A philosophy stated by Gertrude Moskowitz that, '...good
rapport (sympathetic relationships) with learners is the basis for effective EFL learning...'1 This
philosophy on being a good teacher is encapsulated in the following saying, also my firm belief, that

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Essay
Item One: Write a short essay reflecting on what characteristics make a good teacher, using your
own educational experiences. Without using names, identify the "best" and "worst" teacher that you
have had and support your choices with rationales.
What makes a good teacher? Ask this question to one hundred people and one would get one
hundred different answers. I have contemplated this question myself over the course of my twenty
years in education. The ideas that I have about the answer to this question are not the same ones that
I had twenty years ago. In my personal experience being a "good" teacher is something that I always
wanted. In recent years I have learned that teaching is not about being a "good" teacher but about
striving each day to be a "better" teacher than I was the day before.
A good teacher is one who knows her students and her students' needs. The students are the reason
that the teacher is there. Classrooms are filled with students from differing backgrounds and
families. As a teacher, one should know her students by talking with them, asking them questions,
learning their likes and dislikes and making them feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. The
classroom should be a safe haven for students where the teacher creates an atmosphere where
students feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing their opinions.
Another characteristic of a good teacher is one who knows her subject and is able to extend that
knowledge to her students. Every

What I Thought Represented A Good Teacher
In my first field experience, I acquired many skills and knowledge in what I thought represented a
good teacher. In my total time spent in my observation hours I saw, two schools, eight different
teachers, and four different grade levels. The grades I viewed the most were first and second,
particularly because these are the grades I wish to teach in. For the majority of the time I spent with
all the grade levels, I found most of the teachers inspiring in some aspects of their lesson cycle,
teaching style and of course the creative décor around their rooms. I found that the most inspiring or
beneficial teachers were in Hondo, Texas, at Meyer elementary because of their unique structure and
compassionate curriculum for all of the students in which I want to pass on to my students in my
teaching future. At Meyer Elementary I first started with Mrs. Jessica Martinez's class, overall I
found her class to be well structured, organized and successful at most. But, She did not have her
class quite under control, and had difficulty retrieving their attention span, which I found odd with
the multiple teacher assistants she had, however I found that her lessons where quite intriguing to
the students' knowledge. One lesson I found extremely stimulating was her "word of the day," in
which the students compared and contrasted that specific vocabulary word throughout the activities
in their school day. The second teacher I observed was Mr. Gabe Cortez's P.E. class for first and

How Teachers Reinforce The Kiddos For Good Behavior
In the classrooms I am observing I have noticed many ways in which teachers reinforce the kiddos
for good behavior. Each teacher has their own rewards system. I have witnessed a rainbow chart, a
marble system and a stick chart. I have also noticed that many of the teachers do multiple activities
with a lesson in hopes that the information will reach the kiddos long term memory. The teachers
use verbal lessons, hands on activities and written reflections. Each class has their rules and what is
considered appropriate behavior. It has been interesting to see how each teacher rewards their
students and how they make it known what is and isn't okay for the students to do.
Two of the teachers I work with a lot have a very good rewards system going as a way of reinforcing
good behavior. The first teacher uses a rainbow chart and when the students get to the top they get to
choose a prize from the bucket. The other teacher uses a marble system. Each table and student has
the chance to gain marbles along with the class as a whole. If students are listening and behaving
they may get marbles to put in their tables container. If the whole class is doing an awesome job, the
marbles get put into the classes jar. When the students get enough marbles their table gets a prize or
reward of some sort, positive reinforcement. The kiddos get so excited when they get a prize.
Negative punishment is used when they are misbehaving. The students can also get marbles taken
out of their tables jar and

A Good Teacher
Lara Papadimitriou Lessons from the classroom Introduction This essay discusses my personal
understanding of what it means to a good teacher, placing emphasis on the importance of a warm
and open attitude with mutual respect between student and teacher. Secondly I acknowledge my
strengths so far as a teacher such as creating a good rapport with the class, and areas in which I aim
to improve such as lesson planning and time management.
What is a good teacher? A good teacher is a immeasurably valuable factor in someone's education.
Of course there are many different types of teacher in life, but in this case I am referring to a
classroom teacher. First and foremost a teacher must be there because they want to teach, not just ...

An important aspect to encourage the students to enjoy their learning is a variety of activities using
diverse techniques. Patience is also a virtue that goes hand in hand with being non–judgmental.
Lastly, a teacher must be organized and knowledgeable. They must be efficient in giving clear
instructions and efficient explanations. In my experience I have noticed that Goodreads, Hair Ginott

Strengths and weaknesses Given my anxiousness before starting my teaching practices, I am
extremely pleased and encouraged by my performance so far. It has been very rewarding to observe
how a good rapport with the students has been naturally developed in all the teaching classes. This

such as organization and clear instructions are things that will come with practiceand experience,
and I feel like they are improving with each class. I am equally encouraged by how much I enjoyed

The Good Teacher And The Successful Teachers
Teachers have one of the most important jobs in society. They are responsible for educating the
future leaders of the country. So, it is common sense to have only the most effective teachers
educate them. Unfortunately, that is not the case today. The bad teachers and the successful teachers
are treated as equals under tenure. Tenure is given to a teacher after a certain number of years and
ultimately protects them from being fired. "The very first state to adopt tenure was New Jersey in
1909 and by the mid 1900s 80 percent of k–12 teachers had tenure already. At the time tenure began
as a way to protect teachers from wrongful termination due to pregnancy, political view, race or
religion, and so on." ("Making The Grade"). Essentially tenure is a continual job contract for
teachers who qualify after about three to five years. Tenure covers a wide variety of topics, most of
whom can be dealt with without the implication of a complete job secure system. In today's society,
tenure has lost its value and has morphed into something that is hurting students. Tenure puts
teachers before students. That's shocking when the sole purpose of a teacher is to educate students.
Supporters of teacher tenure argue that teachers need to be protected from criticism in order to
educate students. That is not what tenure is allowing teachers to accomplish. There are more
downfalls than positives for students as tenure exists today, so it should be abolished from school
systems nationwide.

Summary Of Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results
The subject of the article,"Why tough teachers get good results" by Joanne Lipmanis very
ambiguous to the thought of the old fashion teaching. The author states in making this comment, she
urges us to realize that "it's time to revive old–fashion in the sense that so many of us knew as kids,
with strict discipline and unyielding demands. Here's the thing, this technique does actually work to
a certain extent"(paragraph 6).Joanne's point is that old fashion teaching can have it's benefits but at
the same time it is good teachers don't have that option anymore.

Loren Lasher: The Qualities Of A Good Teacher
I have had many wonderful teachers in my life. When I refer to teachers I mean, both people I have
encountered in my life who have taught me valuable spiritual and life lessons, and actual
schoolteachers.
One such person who happens to fit both those descriptions is Loren Lasher, my 6th grade teacher at
Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Burbank, California. He was the first person in my life
who told me, "You can do and be anything you want." He taught me that nothing is impossible as
long as you have the desire to achieve it. He was all about self–empowerment and believing in
yourself. As an eleven year old, this message felt both uplifting and inspiring, but also scary and
impossible. Still, throughout my life, any time I was

My Teacher As A Good Teacher
When my teacher assigned our new essay, I felt as this one might be a bit of a struggle. I was too
busy worrying about my SAT and I kept having second thoughts about what I planned to do. Then, I
remembered how terrible my school teachers were and decided why not just write about that.
Throughout my school life I've encountered many teachers who I would consider to be bad teachers.
I find it funny how some people only become teachers, so they can get an easy paying job. A bad
teacher is someone who assigns work and sits back in their desk, one who assigns the same type of
assignment, and one who gives up because he or she can't get the students to calm down. A teacher
who just sits in his or her desk is one critical example of a bad teacher. My eight grade math teacher
would assign us work, show us one or two examples and sit back in her desk. Often times the warm
up would be what the assignment would be over, but it was only the basics. Another one of my
teachers was my sixth grade English teacher. This teacher was even worse; all we did in class was sit
and sometimes go over simple comprehension skills. On most days he would sit on his desk and stay
on his Blackberry playing Tetris, or Bridge Breaker. I'm not sure how some teachers manage to keep
their job when they behave like this. Still, I was glad I passed my Taks Test that year. I thought this
would be the last of my bad teacher's experiences, but it went on all the way to high school. Quitting

how to believe in themselves. Empathy is the third quality. A teacher must have the ability to bond
with the students, to understand and resonate with their feelings and emotions. He/she need to put
his/herself in students' situation to understand and solve students' problem. A good teacher must
know that the aggression, negative attitudes that he/she can see in some students have a root cause.
He/she know that they are really scared young people who have come through some bed
experiences in life. This will keep a teacher calm and have control. If a teacher can do this, he/she
will gain more than love from his/her students. As we know, sense of humor is a key to surviving as
a teacher. A teacher who is humorous and funny can reduces barriers and lighten the atmosphere
especially during heavy period. By telling funny stories, joking with the students, a teacher can
makes class more enjoyable and makes students pay attention to the lessons. An ability to make
students laugh will carry a teacher far and gain he/she more respect. Last but not least, a good

Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results
Author and speaker of the compelling article Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results, Joanne
Lipman informs the public on different teaching styles and which ones have the best results.
Dabbling in the careers of journaling, editing, and writing, obviously attending Yale University has
given Ms. Lipman many opportunities to succeed in life in different areas. Although, having such a
sheltered life as a white and privileged woman will obviously give her a different perspective of this
topic. Joanne is automatically given the upperhand and is taught from an early age a different way to
think about different subjects. Ms. Lipman was fortunate enough to go to a high–ranking high
school in New Jersey which could have molded her thoughts about teachers and their teaching
strategies. When reading parts of the article we can find examples of her knowledge on the subject,
"We're in the midst of a national wave of self recrimination over the U.S. education system"
(Lipman 4) the reader acquires the sense that she is exceptionally well informed on the topic of the
education system. With this comprehension of the issue, I can assume that Ms. Lipman has primarily
worked in the education field. The background of an author is an immensely important quality when
it comes to their works of literature. Not only does it show their point of view, but also their bias
which proves to be influential to the readers. Creative and factual, Joanne spreads her point

International Yoga Teacher Training : The Good, The Bad...
International Yoga Teacher Training:: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly If you have ever considered
taking part in a Yoga Teacher Training overseas there are a few key things you need to know first.
The Backstory:: As the director of a purpose built Yoga and Ayurvedic retreat center for over 5
years, I was blessed to meet yoga teachers from around the world who traveled from near and far to
offer their yoga teacher training programs as month long intensive retreat experiences at our resort.
There were some truly amazing schools and programs and there were those who were, well, not so
great. There were even could be described as "nightmarish". After years of watching the ups and
downs of these programs I had had enough and decided to create our own comprehensive training
program. I could see that the system was for the most part, broken and I wanted to do something
about it. Unfortunately, the practices that I will describe are alive and well and growing in overseas
intensive Yoga Teacher Training programs. The Good: Let's start on a positive note! Some select
programs are simply amazing. The teachers are well informed and absolutely love what they do.
They practice what they preach. They dedicate their lives to creating the most amazing experience
for their students. They teach yoga because it's transformed their lives. It's what they were born to
do. They understand that yoga is more than a physical practice and that belief overflows into the

Benefits Of A Good Teacher Essay
What makes a good teacher? A good teacher is someone who can adapt their teaching style to every
type of learner and make learning a fun and engaging experience. To do this, a desire to teach is
necessary as it provides the motivation necessary to put effort into what you do. I do not know if I

I do find the teaching profession to be enjoyable and I have the desire to be a great teacher. My hope

hear the same thing time and time again about why it is important to learn English. More money,
better jobs and travel are all valid reasons for learning English. Saying these things again as an
attempt to motivate them is probably not the best route when trying to motivate and promote good

in an entertaining fashion trumps bland attempts at motivating. Every student has their reason for
learning English, but it is the teacher's responsibility to make the material easier for the students to
learn. This quote says it all: Having classroom presence is "partly innate" suggests Jo Palmer–

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher
One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to
continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your
profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on
old strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve. What is a
good teacher? "What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become
themselves." 1A teachers objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that
educators image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information in
communicated, they should see themselves a person who elevates that students to higher concepts of
learning, aspiration and liberation. A good teacher must recognize the strength and weaknesses in
skills of the individual and class and reflect on how to leverage strength amongst learners to become
successful. A good teacher plans with intention with all these things in mind to communicate the
content of lesson to the psyche of the learner. A good educator is transforms themselves and those
they serve to reach their loftiest goals. Strengths and Weaknesses The biggest strength I have is to be
creative with the situation that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can
synthesize material to give it a sense of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the
moment. Even the best planners can have a poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is
what prevents them from engaging students in the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning
and mythology but I also believe in breaking from the script and to accommodate the needs of
learners in creative ways. The biggest weakness I have is how I present direction of material. I
believe that I am an effective communicator but there is always room to grow on communication
especially in a classroom that is foreign and does not speak the language taught. Clear, concise
instructions are key in building a classroom that functions and transitions smoothly from one
activity to another, or one piece of information to the next. If a student does

A Good Teacher As A Teacher
A great teacher like Mrs. Lee does not just teach students but has the remarkable ability to change a
student's way of learning. School has always been important to me and I have been lucky enough to
have had some very good teachers along the way. The perquisite for me having all those good
teachers is I always knew what I wanted to do with my life. As a student, it was advantageous to
have a teacher that can have such an impact on me.
Mrs. Lee was my eight grade English Teacher. She was a powerful influencer for me because her
style of teaching turned learning into an enjoyment. Mrs. Lee made learning very feasible. An
example of this is I had often spent hours deliberating over homework and still felt utterly clueless.
She had influenced me to not stop at a barrier but, to overcome it to the best of my ability. Often, I
felt as if Mrs. Lee was the little voice in my head chanting me on to the finish line. She cared about
each of her students as individuals. Just like a parent, she would constantly express words of
gratitude. She would come in early or stay after school. I would come in regularly in the morning, to
which I remembered the smell of warm coffee and sweet peppermints. Even the smell of her
eloquent perfume was comforting to me. Mrs. Lee wanted all her students to succeed, not to just be
successful in her class but in the future. Mrs. Lee had an uncanny philosophy for teaching. I have
always excelled in math and science because those classes are appealing to

Good Teachers In America
In America there are many good teachers. I believe that a good teacher needs to be funny, caring,
nice, relatable, and relaxed. A good teacher needs to be funny so that they can make boring moments
in class fun and not near as boring. Also, a teacher needs to be caring and really care about her
students. The teacher needs to be caring so that the students in the class feel important and wanted.
Another characteristic a good teacher has is being nice, the teacher also needs to be nice so that if a
student is having a bad day that they will be able to cheer the student up. The teacher also needs to
be relatable so that the students can feel a connection to the teacher. Lastly, a teacher needs to be
relaxed so that the students will be allowed

The Classroom 20 Things Good Teachers Do Analysis
What makes a good teacher? While many people may have certain credentials and can make list out
of these. The teacher must have a strong connection with his students, energetic enthusiastic, the list
can go on. Hal Urban has done this by writing the book, The Classroom: 20 things Good Teachers
Do. As future educators it is important for us to reflect, and remember our roots of where we came
from and the different techniques both positive and negative that our teachers used in the classroom.
Not only does this help us grow as educators, but it helps us learn the importance of the kind of
environment we want to create in the classroom. Urban introduces these credentials by talking about
how in one of his classes professor Dr. Kirk, asked who your favorite teacher was and why? He then
responds saying "Dr. Sweeney, he has a lot of enthusiasm." Urban than goes on to say that was what
"Dr. Kirk expected I ask that question every year, and I always get the same answer. He opens with

What Is A Good Teacher?
Introduction Before anyone becomes a teacher, they are a student, which can give a sort of
dichotomous understanding of the teacher–student dynamic. The teacher is powerful and
authoritative, one who both has and provides vast degrees of knowledge, at times oppressive but
always in control. Standing in stark contrast are the students, unsure of themselves and wanting to
learn, shaping their relationship to the classroom around the all–encompassing authority of the
teacher. Actually stepping out of that dynamic, transcending that barrier and filling the teacher's
shoes, helps one to realize that though being the teacher is as empowering as it is confusing, it's
extraordinarily vulnerable and drives one to constant self–analysis and ... Show more content on

There will certainly be students that I'm simply unable to help, just as there are good and bad
teaching days. Despite this, I want to do what I can to inspire as many students as possible. To do
this, I'll need a lot more experience teaching in the classroom, seeing what kinds of students react to
what stimuli and under what circumstances students feel excited about learning. Strengths and
Weaknesses I believe I already have some strengths that can help push me toward this goal. I feel
comfortable talking in front of other people and I'm not easily shaken. I have an upbeat personality
and find it easy bringing that attitude to the classroom. I can put together a lesson plan that flows
rather well and have so far been successful at constructing activities that students enjoy. I feel like
I've thus far been able to bring an enthusiasm for learning and knowledge to the classroom which
the students sometimes reflect back at me. Though of course, I have weaknesses as well. Facilitating
conversation in speaking activities has proved difficult for me. This surprised me somewhat; I
thought that since I can be a talkative person at times, speaking activities would be easy for me. This
was because I didn't realize that the speaking activities are not time for me to speak. I had difficulty
settling into the role of moderator and allowing conversation to progress naturally. More than once
in class I've seen discussion drift away from where I was trying to direct it and have

Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results Summary
The subject of the article, "Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results" by Joanne Lipman is that strict
teachers get good results, even if some may not agree with their ways of teaching. The author states,
"Mr. K's methods aren't for everyone. But you can't argue with his results. And that's a lesson we can
all learn from." Joanne Lipman's point is that even though many people don't like when a teacher is
as strict as Mr. Kupchynsky, but like the article said you can not argue with his results.
Occasion:
The immediate occasion in which the author is writing is modern day, but she also talks about her
past. Joanne Lipman is comparing modern day teaching to past teaching. Joanne Lipman says
"today, he'd be fired. But when he dies a few years ago, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lipman states, "The conventional wisdom holds that teachers are supposed to tease knowledge out
of students, rather than pound it into their heads." This is an example to some that may read this
article, that could be anyone who is interested in our education system.
Purpose:
The purpose of the article "Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results" is that the younger generation
needs to learn how to be more confident and learn how to fix their mistakes when criticized. Lipman
states in the article, " studies have shown, among other things, the benefits of moderate childhood
stress; how praise kills kids' self–esteem; and why grit is a better predictor of success that SAT
scores" Lipman's point is that every student should learn to have grit and even if a teacher is strict
you should still be confident in yourself and your decisions.
Speaker
The speaker of the article is the author herself, Joanne Lipman, she is the former student of a tough
teacher. Lipman states, "I had a teacher once who called his students 'idiots' when they screwed up.
He was our orchestra conductor, a fierce Ukrainian immigrant named Jerry Kupchynsky..." This
quotation shows that the audience is the former student of a hard teacher that was super tough on all

Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
hat is a good teacher?: A good teacher, at its base, has two main characteristics: A Solid, working
knowledge of the content and a high intrapersonal intelligence. One without the other will result in a
horrible teacher. If a teacher is an expert in their content but is incapable of relating and contenting
with their students, they will not effectively teach. On the other hand, a teacher who is a "people
person" and has a great relationship with their students, but doesn't have a solid grasp of the content,
will inevitably fail to teach effectively as well. A good teacher will have those two basic
components. However, a 'great' teacher will have extreme patience, be encouraging, inspiring, a
clear communicator, in tune with the emotions of their students and show genuine excitement for the
content that they're teaching. Students notice these things. Passion and excitement is contagious. The
teacher mindset also goes a long way. For example, "empathize with kids, respect them and believe
that each one has something special that can be built upon (Lieberman, Ann.
Teachwithsimplicity.com)." Respecting, caring and believing in every student makes the quality of
one's teaching go from great to life–changing. Strengths and Weaknesses: My first–time teaching in
this program I made a few mistakes. Firstly, I didn't write new vocabulary on the board for visual
reference. Secondly, I did not monitor the room efficiently for answering all the student's questions
and meeting all their needs. Lastly, I overexplained the grammar concept, resulting in a high
percentage of teacher–talk time. I have corrected these errors for the most part. Sometimes I still
forget to write new vocabulary on the board, but for the most part I do this. I also went to the other
extreme at one point where I over–monitored. I think I have know found a healthy balance in the
classroom. In my opinion, the thing that I need to work on the most is eliminating some of my
teacher–talk time. With every teacher practice I discover new ways to allow the students to talk
more than me. That is the hardest thing for me because the silence of students makes me feel
uncomfortable, so I often try to fill the silence with my own voice. This is what I need to

Mrs. Caroline: The Qualities Of A Good Teacher
"Of all the hard jobs around, one of the hardest is being a good teacher." Teachers who truly care
about their jobs knows what it really takes to be a teacher. It's more than just sitting behind a desk
and assigning your students to work; it's about long hours, hard work, passion and dedication as
some key factors. A teacher should be someone students look up to and aspire to learn more from,
not someone who makes them dread going to school. Nevertheless, Miss. Caroline was that teacher.
She was extremely naive, arrogant and insensitive. She did not bestow the traits a good teacher
would have. Miss.Caroline might have chosen the wrong profession considering it may be one of
the hardest jobs out there, but it can also be one of the most rewarding.
Miss. Caroline was completely clueless and utterly naive. Understanding and connecting with
students is a very important part of teaching. For a teacher to even begun teaching, a really big
factor is knowing what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caroline walked around with buckets of it. For example; a student in her class, Walter Cunningham,
had come to school with no shoes on. Should the fact that he had no lunch either be a surprise to
her? She tried offering a quarter to him in front of the whole class for lunch. After a few failed
attempts, she becomes impatient when he does not accept it. What an ignorant teacher, if the boy
had no shoes, how would he have a quarter to pay her back? Scout tried explaining why to Walter
could not take the money but instead of hearing her out, Miss. Caroline took out her ruler. She had
whipped scouts hand 6 times, perhaps out of frustration or maybe it was a way to make her mistakes
someone else's fault. She had made her ashamed of telling the truth, but isn't that what's right?
It appears that Miss. Caroline did not fully understand that basis of being a teacher. Instead, she was
naive, arrogant and insensitive. She did not know how to teach. Miss. Caroline

A Good Teacher Essay
Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a person who teaches,
especially in school, but can anyone be a teacher? That is a matter of the possession of qualification
and the overall talent utilized whilst on the workforce. Having such qualification simply doesn't
create a good teacher, though. Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and time that one must
be willing to sacrifice from their daily lives. A good teacher must be able to teach the students
clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the day or any sudden
questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence with themselves and be
organized at all times. A good teacher respects his/her job and tries to be as effective as possible.
But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers' ranking and that is being a great
and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is easy, but being a great teacher requires more effort
than what is usually expected and required. With being a great teacher, teaching is not a job, but a ...

Creativity is claimed to be the highest form of intelligence. So, should creativity be looked upon as

My Personal Goals And Goals Of A Good Teacher
Introduction During the past four weeks in Guadalajara, I have received well–designed and intense
training from ITTO and as a result, I have learned an immense amount about how to design lesson
plans confidently, regardless of type of class (conversation, grammar, etc) and regardless of
availability of resources (textbooks or no textbooks, etc). While I believe that I have always had a
passion and aptitude for teaching, ITTO has given further tools in the form of practical training and
job search guidance. I have progressed well during this short but intense period of training but I will
continue to improve as I work as an English teacher in Latin America going forward. What is a
Good Teacher? In my opinion, a good teacher has the following qualities: He teaches because he
enjoys the process of improving the academic and professional lives of students, instead of doing it
strictly for the money. As a result, students recognize and appreciate his passion for teaching and
develop a trusting and respectful relationship with the teacher He creates a nurturing environment
that is warm, accessible, and caring. He encourages students to show effort and to ask questions
openly in class without fear of mockery by peers He works hard to prepare the lesson materials and
he is adaptive to unpredictable circumstances, such as when students arrive late to class, the course
has to be taught without a pre–existing textbook, or when the lesson takes longer than he anticipated

Positive Characteristics Of A Good Teacher
Being 19 and graduated from highschool I've had my fair share of good and bad teachers. I feel like
the main 4 effective characteristics of a teacher are, a good communicator, a good listener, being
understandable, and having good sense of humor. Being a good communicator plays a huge role into
being an effective teacher. Many students will have tons of questions, and you're not able to answer
those questions in an effective way then you're setting your kid up for failure. Also, being able to
communicate doesn't just mean being able to talk with students, you have to also deal with parents
and be able to talk with on a professional level. Being able to communicate is one of the top things a
teacher should have down and ready to go once school starts. Being a good listener to me, shows
that you actually care what the student have to say. In my past I've teachers who didn't even bother
to care what I said, so I took that as disrespect and why should I show you respect if it's not coming
back the other way? As a teacher you have to realize students care a lot about what they tell you and
they trust you that you're listening. No, you're not going to remember every little thing a kid tells
you, but at that moment they expect you just to listen and give some type of reaction or response.
With being understandable I take it from a personal experience. When I was younger my family was
going through some things and I missed a lot of school. Once I got back the teacher didn't even

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only
by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the
students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad
mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or
even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have
the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage
them. Let them know that the teacher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

"You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel
like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights
up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard
and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago
and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on.
I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about
what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I
had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be
able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less
insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new
school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails.
But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk.

Why Does A Teacher Need Be A Good ' Manager '
Why does a teacher need to be a good 'manager'? A teacher needs to be a good 'manager' to ensure
learning occurs. Without good management skills, learning may not be achieved and the classroom
could fall into chaos. To be a good 'manager' in a classroom the teacher needs several tools. These
shall be explored below. The classroom is its own 'ecosystem.' The features of this 'ecosystem'
revolve around creating a positive atmosphere for learning (Karnovsky, 2015). However, this does
not occur overnight, it takes time and energy from the teacher and the students to develop this
atmosphere. One method to achieve this, is a student behavioral agreement. This consists of four
core concepts; student's rights and responsibilities, classroom ... Show more content on

This agreement which helps create the classroom 'ecosystem,' is also a strategy in preventing
problematic behavior. However, there are many more strategies which can be used in different parts
of the lesson to minimize and prevent misbehavior. According to Rudolf Dreikurs (Crandall, 2012),
there are four goals of misbehavior. These are; attention, power, revenge and assumed disability. To
prevent this from occurring the teacher must create a classroom with a sense of belonging, cohesive
bonding and appropriate instructional skills. However, doing this does not ensure that they will
behave, it is better to assume that all students will misbehave at some point if given the chance.
When students do misbehave, teachers can employ the 'Bumps Model' to react appropriately to the
level of misbehavior. The 'Bumps Model' is comprised of 10 levels. The 'bump' is the student's
escalation. It is important that the teacher can distinguish between what is effective and ineffective
to select the best method (Bennett, 1994). At 'Bump' level one the teacher is responding to students
when they first cause a disruption, the teacher's response will be low key, e.g.; proximity, 'the look,'
and saying the student's name. This follows Kounin (1970) 'slowdowns,' in which the teacher keeps
flowing through the material and not letting a small misbehavior get in the way of the teaching. The
teacher's response

Jaime Escalante: What Makes A Good Teacher Become A Hero?
What does it take to become a hero? Is it necessarily fighting skills and strong muscles? Maybe, it's
not about the physical abilities. Maybe, it's the mind set he has. So, can a good teacher become a
hero? First of all, he must be passionate about what he teaches and have the desire to share that
passion with his students. A great educator does not focus on himself, but he must want success for
his students. Not every teacher will put the extra mile, or stand up for what is right for the students,
but Jaime Escalante had the characteristics of an inspiring teacher. Not only did he provided helpful
math skills, but he provided the boost of self–confidence for the students.

who were not going to put the effort into schoolwork, especially not into math, but Escalante had a
different perspective.
He was such a determine teacher. Instead of teaching students only during the normal school hours,
he helped them before and after school. He had so much hope for these students that he even
implied on having summer school. When these students wanted to give up, he did not allow them to
surrender. He would let his students know that they were capable of anything in this world, and they
were meant for so much more. He even had his students take advance placement calculus classes,
and 18 of his students took the AP test and passed it.
Unfortunately, testing services accused his students for cheating on the test. He could have left this
manner alone and could have accepted the news, but this was unfair to Escalante and his students.
He knew the company stated this untruthful story because of the fact these students were Hispanics
and lived in a poor community. He objected the judgement and wanted justice for his students, so
the students were given another opportunity to take the test. Without a doubt, his students succeeded

My Characteristics Of Being A Good Teacher
Introduction
4 weeks, 6 classroom observations, 10 teaching practices, 2 conversation facilitations, 1 one v. one
private teaching session, multiple homework assignments, and numerous lesson plans later – all
totaling to 140+ hours of hard work – and here I am at the finish. This is experience was demanding
and challenging to say the least, in a positive way. I learned so much and experienced the EFL
teaching world first–hand. I played on my strengths as an educator and worked through my
weakness to grow. I discovered teaching approaches that I could use to my advantage, as well as
evolved my classroom control and rapport with students.
What is a good teacher?
It's easy to become a mediocre teacher. To be a good, even great, teacher is hard work and
dedication. Maria Orlando gives 9 characteristics of a great teacher, here are just a few I agree with:
a teacher who respects students, creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom, has
his/her own love for learning and growing, continuously collaborates with other educators, and
maintains professionalism in all areas. Adding onto this list with a few of my own characteristics I
possess are: a teacher who is pleasant to be around, sensitive to the students needs/feelings,
enthusiastic, hardworking, committed, driven, and organized. To become a great teacher, I intend on
continuing to work hard and stay committed to my goal. Even when I think I've reached my
destination, I will continue to find new ways to

Evaluation Of ' Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results '
Evaluation of "Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results" by Joanne Lipman is a well–supported
article. Mrs. Lipman gives good insight to tough teachers getting good results from their students by
using her experience with her music teacher Mr. Kupchynsky. She provides many references to case
studies performed on students in classrooms by doctors and graduate students to support her point.
Mrs. Lipman explains that her Mr. Kupchynsky was a strict teacher, but because of his strictness
when he passed away all of his past students that came to pay their respects were all successful
people in life some were doctors and lawyers. Mrs. Lipman then continues to use her personal story
to explain some of the conceptions of present day educators and how they are false. She uses eleven
ways to prove that today's educational system as become soft on present day children. "The fear, of
course, is that failure will traumatize our kids, sapping their self–esteem. Wrong again. A 2006
study, a Bowling Green State University graduate student followed 31 Ohio band students who were
required to audition for placement and found that even students who placed lowest" did not decrease
in their motivation and self–esteem in the long term." The study concluded that educators need "not
be as concerned about the negative effects" of picking winners and losers" (Lipman). I really
enjoyed reading this article, it really did open my eyes to how the world of education has changed
but the old ways of teaching

Marywood's Core Values In What Teachers Make And A Good Man
I have decided to compare the novel A Good Man with the poem What Teachers Make because both
have similar and different ways of showing some of Marywood's Core Values. A Good Man is about
Mark Shriver and his father and how his father had done many good deeds while alive. These good
deeds inspired Mark to become the person he was. In the poem What Teachers Make, it is merely
about how a teacher tries to prove a point that all teachers in general have a greater purpose than
most people believe. Both are great pieces of writing that show three of Marywood's Core Values:
Respect, Empowerment, and Excellence. Although both pieces of writing have a strong way of
portraying respect, they are done in different ways. In Mark Shriver's book A Good Man, Sargent
Shriver and his wife show respect by reaching out to black people and people with disabilities.
Sargent would always find a way or people to stop being racist towards the blacks and trying to treat
them as equal as everyone else. The same goes for Sargent's ... Show more content on

Both talk about the excellence achieved in their careers and lives. In Mark Shriver's book, Sargent
was known as a "good man" by basically everyone he knew. This was because Sargent always did
good deeds for others and was a very selfless person. He was a big inspiration to his son and many
others. There was not one person that hated him. This tells us that Sargent has lived an excellent life
with so many achievements and selfless acts. In Taylor Mali's poem, the narrator explains that
teachers are more than just someone who just teach because they need to make a salary. The
examples the narrator gives of him and how he helps students, shows that he is an excellent teacher
and that there are many more out there. He states that he actually tries to make a difference which is
the unique quality that many people tend to notice in great

Essay on How Does One Define a Good Teacher?
'Where there is much desire to learn, there of necessity will be much
arguing, much writing, many opinions; for opinions in good men is but
knowledge in the making.' ––John Milton
The epigram above goes a long way in providing an answer to this
oft–repeated question. Of course, we must make a distinction between
Aristotle instructing passionate disciples on the definition of happiness
and a humble foreign language teacher attempting to familiarize a horde
of boisterous adolescents to the intricacies of the English interrogative
sentence. Whether adolescents back in the 4th century BC were radically
different in demeanor to today's is for the anthropologists and historians
to decide; in any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enthusiasm
is eerily contagious.
Waiting for my first lecture on "Advanced Word Morphology" last year, I
feared the worst. The lecturer, a plump and immaculately dressed man,
stormed into the room and, from that moment on, never lost our attention.
To think that someone could be so excited about the irregular plurals
in English was a little odd at first, but it nevertheless made us listen
to find out what could induce such animated grimaces and gesticulations.
In the following week, the attendance doubled. The good teacher then, has
a veritable passion for what he teaches or, less romantic but equally
effective, can pretend to be. To assume that a human being can be
veritably fascinated by the prospect of describing a picture in English
would transcend the boundaries of good sense. Once the teacher's enthusiasm
has infused into the pores of his pupils, the more cerebral aspects of his
character come into play. He must possess a sound knowledge of
whatever he teaches and be ready to answer in a clear and persuasive manner
the arguments and opinions that Milton says will inevitably follow. The
teacher–pupil interaction must be symbiotic, not merely a master–slave
relationship with the teacher acting as an all–knowing, infallible tyrant.
Patience is an important asset in a profession where abilities invariably
differ from pupil to pupil and remaining enthusiastic is by no means an

  • 1. A Good Teacher Has Not Only A Knowledge Of Early Childhood... A good teacher has not only a knowledge of early childhood education, but the ability to empathize with children and to give personalized care and attention. Early childhood is a highly diverse field that serves children from birth through age 8. During these years, children participate in different kinds of care and education settings. To be a great teacher, it means that you have to be close, and you have to be observing while listening to the child, so whenever you see a beautiful looking classroom, that's the one which children are learning to succeed, you also can be sure that all the teachers are responsible and highly intentional. Everything that a good teacher is creating by looking at the environment, considering that the curriculum and teaching it to the children as individual people, and planning the learning experiences, and interacting with the children and their families, they are respectful, responsible and also thoughtful. And as they make decisions, big or small, they keep in mind that the outcomes that they seek will come in handy one day. In responding to the whole upcoming opportunities as in the teaching moments as the intentions of the teacher are guided in by the outcomes that the program is trying to have a clear sense of how the aspects of the program can relate to and to promote the desired goals that contributes to an intentional teachers' effectiveness. The learning goals are usually determine at the given age of the child. Teachers must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. A Treasure : A Good Teacher Is Always A Treasure A Good Teacher Is Always a Treasure There is no doubt that a good teacher is always a treasure. Many economically disadvantaged(VOC) students in America grow up in a poor community, and they all fall under "the have–nots". These students tend not to get a good education and not to be lucky in having a very good teacher. In school, it is difficult for teachers to encourage students by making them feel confident and eager to learn because there are many students from different backgrounds, but teachers can use particular techniques that give students more motivation than other teachers who don't use particular techniques. Meanwhile, teachers are a necessary part of a student's life and can change students in efficient ways. In my opinion, excellent teachers inspire students to learn when they create a positive environment and support their students. One teaching technique that inspires students to learn(AC) is when teachers create a positive environment. If teachers give students an inspiring room or use positive encouragement, they will inspire them to gain knowledge and achieve their goals. Slowly, over a long period of time, the students will be engaged in learning and have a positive attitude. For example, in the article "From Cacophony to Harmony" by Julian Guthrie, he writes about Jack Martens, a music teacher at Ben Franklin Middle School in San Francisco who feels that it is extremely important to pay particular attention to creating a positive environment to make ... • 3. A Good Teacher Needs Multiple Things A good teacher needs multiple things to be successful. Among some of the most important traits are patience, perseverance and the ability to adapt in any situation. Without these things, a teacher could find themselves up a creek without a paddle. Patience is essential to the modern teacher. With all of the potential distractions that children face in an age where an escape from reality is at their fingertips, teachers must be patient in order to get their desired results from a class. With all of the pressure that is placed on teachers these days by parents, peers, and administration, it may be hard for a teacher to get everything that they need to do done. Handing papers out, putting grades in, and constantly revising lesson plans to fit the needs and ability of the class, along with sticking to the curriculum. These tasks can prove to be very challenging and tedious, and without a very colossal amount of patience, a teacher might not make it. It does not only take patience to be a great teacher, let alone survive in the world of education. Perseverance is another essential trait that the modern teacher must possess. All of the patience in the world would not help the teacher who has given up. When children refuse to work, show up, or even put in any more than minimal effort, the instructor must keep trying. There may not be a way to reach every student in the classroom, but if the teacher simply gives up, then they will not reach any child. When the curriculum changes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher The definition of a good teacher is one that is dependent on opinion. Should you ask a pupil, you would probably get a different answer than if you ask a teacher. From a student teacher perspective, a good teacher must have a variety of qualities that can be adapted to different situations in the classroom. Three of the most predominant aspects of being a good teacher include the ability to be inclusive for all, the balance between fun and theoretical learning and being passionate. Firstly, one central skill that makes a good teacher, is the ability to be inclusive for pupils with different learning needs, as there are roughly 286,000 children with learning disabilities in the UK (Mental Health Foundation). During my experience volunteering in a primary school, I engaged in behavioural management. I was introduced to many children with additional support needs such as ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and William's Syndrome. I recognised strategies such as scaffolding, where a child who needs extra support is seated with a child who was more advanced and would be able to act as a support in their learning and vice versa. This strategy portrayed that every child comes with different life skills and has something to contribute and how the teacher can include children with additional support needs in active learning through support from their peers. This idea highlights how important it is for teachers to be compassionate about every child's individual needs and personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Example Of A Humorous Wedding Speech By A Good Teacher Ms. Rollins – I wanted to thank you sincerely, so I figured a letter would suffice. I still have the thank you card you wrote me from freshman year. To be honest, I keep it in my bag so that I see the advice you gave me everywhere I go–"keep writing". I don't know if my keeping of it is weird, but I've passed the point in my life where the number of people I have weirded out has lost its count. I don't know how long this will be, so feel free to skip to the end where I will add a "TL;DR" summary. I think that from the moment I entered your class, you were a source of comfort. Really, that's what a good teacher is. Not to be sappy, but having that sort of presence in your life makes a difference. Despite the awfulness high school is and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To take the confusion out of what I'm trying to say, there was a lot going on my freshman year when I first had you. I was shoved into a lot of waiting rooms only to be shoved into rooms that were trying way to hard to come off as relaxing or laid–back. I met a lot of strangers who were so interested in poking into the deep parts of my mind that even I hadn't explored. Who are they to do that, right? They haven't earned anything. They get paid a hundred dollars an hour just to tell me that, 'oh, yes, this is not normal behavior'. They get paid a hundred dollars an hour to write a prescription. Do they even listen to what you say? The answer is they don't. They do not listen. They do not help. I have learned that you cannot rely on people, especially strangers, to fix you. No one will swoop in like She's All That to fix me with a make–over and spending time together in a waiting room isn't an ideal date. What I am trying to get at is this–I have learned you have to fix yourself. In no way am I the right person to ask about how to 'get better' or 'cure yourself' but what works for me, even if it's only a little, is English: novels, poems, articles, etc. You cannot go to a library and expect silence when there are so many people ... • 6. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher INTRODUCTION: What is teaching? Teaching is something many people desire to do in order to help those learn with different teaching approaches. A lot of time is devoted to the 'what' of teaching and what areas we should we cover, what resources do we need and so on. The 'how' of teaching also gets a great deal of space and how to structure a lesson, manage classes, assess for learning for learning and so on. "Do we ask the "who" question – who is the self that teaches? How does the quality of my selfhood form – or deform – the way I relate to my students, my subject, my colleagues, my world? How can educational institutions sustain and deepen the selfhood from which good teaching comes?"– Parker J. Palmer (1998: 4). WHAT IS A GOOD TEACHER?: A good teacher is someone who focuses on students needs and styles of learning. Every student has different way of learning. In my experience to become a good teacher one must take the time to speak and observe their students. I always observe my students when they are speaking. One thing I have learned is to always ask the students what activity we will be doing in their own words. This way I can see if they understand and are paying attention. STRENGTH AND WEAKNESSES: The first time I taught it was in front of a bunch of eighth graders. I was shaking and not confident in the way I was conducting class. I had no idea how to be a teacher or how to speak. When I came to this program I had a better understanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Being A Good Teacher This essay contemplates my individual development, skill acquisition and exploration of teaching approaches; throughout and beyond the International Teacher Training Organisation (ITTO) program. The problems I encountered will be discussed; and their relation to establishing where my wealth of primary teaching experience aligns with English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching approaches. For example; efforts to reduce my teacher talk time compared to primary school education was important, correcting pronunciation in an appropriate manner and correctly pacing both my speech and activities were areas of development that were observed, reflected on personally and subsequently acted upon. What is a good teacher? Humans are social animals who need to feel connected with the teacher; to enable an open and honest atmosphere to question misunderstandings and exchange knowledge. A good teacher realises the importance of forming authentic relationships by expressing their true self with their students. Hence, a good teacher demonstrates compassion, builds rapport and shows empathy towards the challenges present within learning; by allowing students to see teachers as fallible and therefore learners as well. A philosophy stated by Gertrude Moskowitz that, '...good rapport (sympathetic relationships) with learners is the basis for effective EFL learning...'1 This philosophy on being a good teacher is encapsulated in the following saying, also my firm belief, that I share with ... • 8. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher Essay Item One: Write a short essay reflecting on what characteristics make a good teacher, using your own educational experiences. Without using names, identify the "best" and "worst" teacher that you have had and support your choices with rationales. What makes a good teacher? Ask this question to one hundred people and one would get one hundred different answers. I have contemplated this question myself over the course of my twenty years in education. The ideas that I have about the answer to this question are not the same ones that I had twenty years ago. In my personal experience being a "good" teacher is something that I always wanted. In recent years I have learned that teaching is not about being a "good" teacher but about striving each day to be a "better" teacher than I was the day before. A good teacher is one who knows her students and her students' needs. The students are the reason that the teacher is there. Classrooms are filled with students from differing backgrounds and families. As a teacher, one should know her students by talking with them, asking them questions, learning their likes and dislikes and making them feel safe and comfortable in the classroom. The classroom should be a safe haven for students where the teacher creates an atmosphere where students feel comfortable in being themselves and expressing their opinions. Another characteristic of a good teacher is one who knows her subject and is able to extend that knowledge to her students. Every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. What I Thought Represented A Good Teacher In my first field experience, I acquired many skills and knowledge in what I thought represented a good teacher. In my total time spent in my observation hours I saw, two schools, eight different teachers, and four different grade levels. The grades I viewed the most were first and second, particularly because these are the grades I wish to teach in. For the majority of the time I spent with all the grade levels, I found most of the teachers inspiring in some aspects of their lesson cycle, teaching style and of course the creative décor around their rooms. I found that the most inspiring or beneficial teachers were in Hondo, Texas, at Meyer elementary because of their unique structure and compassionate curriculum for all of the students in which I want to pass on to my students in my teaching future. At Meyer Elementary I first started with Mrs. Jessica Martinez's class, overall I found her class to be well structured, organized and successful at most. But, She did not have her class quite under control, and had difficulty retrieving their attention span, which I found odd with the multiple teacher assistants she had, however I found that her lessons where quite intriguing to the students' knowledge. One lesson I found extremely stimulating was her "word of the day," in which the students compared and contrasted that specific vocabulary word throughout the activities in their school day. The second teacher I observed was Mr. Gabe Cortez's P.E. class for first and second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. How Teachers Reinforce The Kiddos For Good Behavior In the classrooms I am observing I have noticed many ways in which teachers reinforce the kiddos for good behavior. Each teacher has their own rewards system. I have witnessed a rainbow chart, a marble system and a stick chart. I have also noticed that many of the teachers do multiple activities with a lesson in hopes that the information will reach the kiddos long term memory. The teachers use verbal lessons, hands on activities and written reflections. Each class has their rules and what is considered appropriate behavior. It has been interesting to see how each teacher rewards their students and how they make it known what is and isn't okay for the students to do. Two of the teachers I work with a lot have a very good rewards system going as a way of reinforcing good behavior. The first teacher uses a rainbow chart and when the students get to the top they get to choose a prize from the bucket. The other teacher uses a marble system. Each table and student has the chance to gain marbles along with the class as a whole. If students are listening and behaving they may get marbles to put in their tables container. If the whole class is doing an awesome job, the marbles get put into the classes jar. When the students get enough marbles their table gets a prize or reward of some sort, positive reinforcement. The kiddos get so excited when they get a prize. Negative punishment is used when they are misbehaving. The students can also get marbles taken out of their tables jar and ... • 12. A Good Teacher Lara Papadimitriou Lessons from the classroom Introduction This essay discusses my personal understanding of what it means to a good teacher, placing emphasis on the importance of a warm and open attitude with mutual respect between student and teacher. Secondly I acknowledge my strengths so far as a teacher such as creating a good rapport with the class, and areas in which I aim to improve such as lesson planning and time management. What is a good teacher? A good teacher is a immeasurably valuable factor in someone's education. Of course there are many different types of teacher in life, but in this case I am referring to a classroom teacher. An important aspect to encourage the students to enjoy their learning is a variety of activities using diverse techniques. Patience is also a virtue that goes hand in hand with being non–judgmental. Lastly, a teacher must be organized and knowledgeable. They must be efficient in giving clear instructions and efficient explanations. In my experience I have noticed that Goodreads, Hair Ginott https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/212291.Haim_G_Ginott1 Lara Papadimitriou Lessons from the classroom the the difficulties that have arisen in lessons have been due to my lack of understanding of the instructions beforehand. Strengths and weaknesses Given my anxiousness before starting my teaching practices, I am extremely pleased and encouraged by my performance so far. It has been very rewarding to observe how a good rapport with the students has been naturally developed in all the teaching classes. This was very important to me because I acknowledge that the rest of the points that I need to develop such as organization and clear instructions are things that will come with practiceand experience, and I feel like they are improving with each class. • 13. The Good Teacher And The Successful Teachers Teachers have one of the most important jobs in society. They are responsible for educating the future leaders of the country. So, it is common sense to have only the most effective teachers educate them. Unfortunately, that is not the case today. The bad teachers and the successful teachers are treated as equals under tenure. Tenure is given to a teacher after a certain number of years and ultimately protects them from being fired. "The very first state to adopt tenure was New Jersey in 1909 and by the mid 1900s 80 percent of k–12 teachers had tenure already. At the time tenure began as a way to protect teachers from wrongful termination due to pregnancy, political view, race or religion, and so on." ("Making The Grade"). Essentially tenure is a continual job contract for teachers who qualify after about three to five years. Tenure covers a wide variety of topics, most of whom can be dealt with without the implication of a complete job secure system. In today's society, tenure has lost its value and has morphed into something that is hurting students. Tenure puts teachers before students. That's shocking when the sole purpose of a teacher is to educate students. Supporters of teacher tenure argue that teachers need to be protected from criticism in order to educate students. That is not what tenure is allowing teachers to accomplish. There are more downfalls than positives for students as tenure exists today, so it should be abolished from school systems nationwide. ... One such person who happens to fit both those descriptions is Loren Lasher, my 6th grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Burbank, California. He was the first person in my life who told me, "You can do and be anything you want." He taught me that nothing is impossible as long as you have the desire to achieve it. He was all about self–empowerment and believing in yourself. As an eleven year old, this message felt both uplifting and inspiring, but also scary and impossible. • 16. My Teacher As A Good Teacher When my teacher assigned our new essay, I felt as this one might be a bit of a struggle. I was too busy worrying about my SAT and I kept having second thoughts about what I planned to do. Then, I remembered how terrible my school teachers were and decided why not just write about that. Throughout my school life I've encountered many teachers who I would consider to be bad teachers. I find it funny how some people only become teachers, so they can get an easy paying job. A bad teacher is someone who assigns work and sits back in their desk, one who assigns the same type of assignment, and one who gives up because he or she can't get the students to calm down. A teacher who just sits in his or her desk is one critical example of a bad teacher. My eight grade math teacher would assign us work, show us one or two examples and sit back in her desk. Often times the warm up would be what the assignment would be over, but it was only the basics. Another one of my teachers was my sixth grade English teacher. This teacher was even worse; all we did in class was sit and sometimes go over simple comprehension skills. On most days he would sit on his desk and stay on his Blackberry playing Tetris, or Bridge Breaker. I'm not sure how some teachers manage to keep their job when they behave like this. Still, I was glad I passed my Taks Test that year. I thought this would be the last of my bad teacher's experiences, but it went on all the way to high school. Quitting is another example of ... Dabbling in the careers of journaling, editing, and writing, obviously attending Yale University has given Ms. Lipman many opportunities to succeed in life in different areas. Although, having such a sheltered life as a white and privileged woman will obviously give her a different perspective of this topic. International Yoga Teacher Training:: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly If you have ever considered taking part in a Yoga Teacher Training overseas there are a few key things you need to know first. The Backstory:: As the director of a purpose built Yoga and Ayurvedic retreat center for over 5 years, I was blessed to meet yoga teachers from around the world who traveled from near and far to offer their yoga teacher training programs as month long intensive retreat experiences at our resort. There were some truly amazing schools and programs and there were those who were, well, not so great. There were even could be described as "nightmarish". After years of watching the ups and downs of these programs I had had enough and decided to create our own comprehensive training program. I could see that the system was for the most part, broken and I wanted to do something about it. Unfortunately, the practices that I will describe are alive and well and growing in overseas intensive Yoga Teacher Training programs. The Good: Let's start on a positive note! Some select programs are simply amazing. The teachers are well informed and absolutely love what they do. They practice what they preach. They dedicate their lives to creating the most amazing experience for their students. They teach yoga because it's transformed their lives. It's what they were born to do. They understand that yoga is more than a physical practice and that belief overflows into the way that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A good teacher is someone who can adapt their teaching style to every type of learner and make learning a fun and engaging experience. To do this, a desire to teach is necessary as it provides the motivation necessary to put effort into what you do. I do not know if I will be a good teacher someday. • 22. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Good Teacher One of the most essential exercises when in comes to professional development as an instructor is to continuously reflect on your perspective, methodology, instruction and behavior within your profession. Doing so ensure that you a growing and improving on teaching skills and building on old strengths to benefit you as an instructor but especially the students that you serve. What is a good teacher? "What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves." 1A teachers objective should not be to shape the students as a reflection of that educators image, instead they should see themselves as the medium of which the information in communicated, they should see themselves a person who elevates that students to higher concepts of learning, aspiration and liberation. A good teacher must recognize the strength and weaknesses in skills of the individual and class and reflect on how to leverage strength amongst learners to become successful. A good teacher plans with intention with all these things in mind to communicate the content of lesson to the psyche of the learner. A good educator is transforms themselves and those they serve to reach their loftiest goals. Strengths and Weaknesses The biggest strength I have is to be creative with the situation that I am given. This in not only a skill that suggest that one can synthesize material to give it a sense of authenticity, but also can adapt and accommodate in the moment. Even the best planners can have a poor classroom dynamic; the rigidity of these classes is what prevents them from engaging students in the moment. I genuinely believe in effective planning and mythology but I also believe in breaking from the script and to accommodate the needs of learners in creative ways. The biggest weakness I have is how I present direction of material. I believe that I am an effective communicator but there is always room to grow on communication especially in a classroom that is foreign and does not speak the language taught. Clear, concise instructions are key in building a classroom that functions and transitions smoothly from one activity to another, or one piece of information to the next. If a student does ... The teacher must have a strong connection with his students, energetic enthusiastic, the list can go on. Hal Urban has done this by writing the book, The Classroom: 20 things Good Teachers Do. As future educators it is important for us to reflect, and remember our roots of where we came from and the different techniques both positive and negative that our teachers used in the classroom. Not only does this help us grow as educators, but it helps us learn the importance of the kind of environment we want to create in the classroom. Urban introduces these credentials by talking about how in one of his classes professor Dr. Kirk, asked who your favorite teacher was and why? The teacher is powerful and authoritative, one who both has and provides vast degrees of knowledge, at times oppressive but always in control. Standing in stark contrast are the students, unsure of themselves and wanting to learn, shaping their relationship to the classroom around the all–encompassing authority of the teacher. Actually stepping out of that dynamic, transcending that barrier and filling the teacher's shoes, helps one to realize that though being the teacher is as empowering as it is confusing, it's extraordinarily vulnerable and drives one to constant self–analysis and ... Facilitating conversation in speaking activities has proved difficult for me. This surprised me somewhat; I thought that since I can be a talkative person at times, speaking activities would be easy for me. • 28. Characteristics Of A Good Teacher hat is a good teacher?: A good teacher, at its base, has two main characteristics: A Solid, working knowledge of the content and a high intrapersonal intelligence. One without the other will result in a horrible teacher. If a teacher is an expert in their content but is incapable of relating and contenting with their students, they will not effectively teach. On the other hand, a teacher who is a "people person" and has a great relationship with their students, but doesn't have a solid grasp of the content, will inevitably fail to teach effectively as well. A good teacher will have those two basic components. However, a 'great' teacher will have extreme patience, be encouraging, inspiring, a clear communicator, in tune with the emotions of their students and show genuine excitement for the content that they're teaching. Students notice these things. Passion and excitement is contagious. The teacher mindset also goes a long way. For example, "empathize with kids, respect them and believe that each one has something special that can be built upon (Lieberman, Ann. Teachwithsimplicity.com)." Respecting, caring and believing in every student makes the quality of one's teaching go from great to life–changing. Strengths and Weaknesses: My first–time teaching in this program I made a few mistakes. Firstly, I didn't write new vocabulary on the board for visual reference. Secondly, I did not monitor the room efficiently for answering all the student's questions and meeting all their needs. Lastly, I overexplained the grammar concept, resulting in a high percentage of teacher–talk time. I have corrected these errors for the most part. Sometimes I still forget to write new vocabulary on the board, but for the most part I do this. I also went to the other extreme at one point where I over–monitored. I think I have know found a healthy balance in the classroom. In my opinion, the thing that I need to work on the most is eliminating some of my teacher–talk time. With every teacher practice I discover new ways to allow the students to talk more than me. That is the hardest thing for me because the silence of students makes me feel uncomfortable, so I often try to fill the silence with my own voice. This is what I need to ... I feel like the main 4 effective characteristics of a teacher are, a good communicator, a good listener, being understandable, and having good sense of humor. Being a good communicator plays a huge role into being an effective teacher. Many students will have tons of questions, and you're not able to answer those questions in an effective way then you're setting your kid up for failure. Also, being able to communicate doesn't just mean being able to talk with students, you have to also deal with parents and be able to talk with on a professional level. Being able to communicate is one of the top things a teacher should have down and ready to go once school starts. Being a good listener to me, shows that you actually care what the student have to say. In my past I've teachers who didn't even bother to care what I said, so I took that as disrespect and why should I show you respect if it's not coming back the other way? As a teacher you have to realize students care a lot about what they tell you and they trust you that you're listening. No, you're not going to remember every little thing a kid tells you, but at that moment they expect you just to listen and give some type of reaction or response. With being understandable I take it from a personal experience. When I was younger my family was going through some things and I missed a lot of school. Once I got back the teacher didn't even ... Without good management skills, learning may not be achieved and the classroom could fall into chaos. To be a good 'manager' in a classroom the teacher needs several tools. These shall be explored below. The classroom is its own 'ecosystem.' The features of this 'ecosystem' revolve around creating a positive atmosphere for learning (Karnovsky, 2015). However, this does not occur overnight, it takes time and energy from the teacher and the students to develop this atmosphere. One method to achieve this, is a student behavioral agreement. This agreement which helps create the classroom 'ecosystem,' is also a strategy in preventing problematic behavior. However, there are many more strategies which can be used in different parts of the lesson to minimize and prevent misbehavior. According to Rudolf Dreikurs (Crandall, 2012), there are four goals of misbehavior. These are; attention, power, revenge and assumed disability. To prevent this from occurring the teacher must create a classroom with a sense of belonging, cohesive bonding and appropriate instructional skills. However, doing this does not ensure that they will behave, it is better to assume that all students will misbehave at some point if given the chance. When students do misbehave, teachers can employ the 'Bumps Model' to react appropriately to the level of misbehavior. The 'Bumps Model' is comprised of 10 levels. The 'bump' is the student's escalation. It is important that the teacher can distinguish between what is effective and ineffective to select the best method (Bennett, 1994). At 'Bump' level one the teacher is responding to students when they first cause a disruption, the teacher's response will be low key, e.g.; proximity, 'the look,' and saying the student's name. This follows Kounin (1970) 'slowdowns,' in which the teacher keeps flowing through the material and not letting a small misbehavior get in the way of the teaching. The teacher's response ... • 35. Jaime Escalante: What Makes A Good Teacher Become A Hero? What does it take to become a hero? Is it necessarily fighting skills and strong muscles? Maybe, it's not about the physical abilities. Maybe, it's the mind set he has. So, can a good teacher become a hero? First of all, he must be passionate about what he teaches and have the desire to share that passion with his students. A great educator does not focus on himself, but he must want success for his students. Not every teacher will put the extra mile, or stand up for what is right for the students, but Jaime Escalante had the characteristics of an inspiring teacher. Not only did he provided helpful math skills, but he provided the boost of self–confidence for the students. Jaime Escalante was born in La Paz, Bolivia in 1930 and was raised by ... These students at this school were seen as hopeless and troubled kids who were not going to put the effort into schoolwork, especially not into math, but Escalante had a different perspective. He was such a determine teacher. Instead of teaching students only during the normal school hours, he helped them before and after school. He had so much hope for these students that he even implied on having summer school. When these students wanted to give up, he did not allow them to surrender. He would let his students know that they were capable of anything in this world, and they were meant for so much more. He even had his students take advance placement calculus classes, and 18 of his students took the AP test and passed it. Unfortunately, testing services accused his students for cheating on the test. He could have left this manner alone and could have accepted the news, but this was unfair to Escalante and his students. He knew the company stated this untruthful story because of the fact these students were Hispanics and lived in a poor community. He objected the judgement and wanted justice for his students, so the students were given another opportunity to take the test. Without a doubt, his students succeeded ... • 36. My Characteristics Of Being A Good Teacher Introduction 4 weeks, 6 classroom observations, 10 teaching practices, 2 conversation facilitations, 1 one v. one private teaching session, multiple homework assignments, and numerous lesson plans later – all totaling to 140+ hours of hard work – and here I am at the finish. This is experience was demanding and challenging to say the least, in a positive way. I learned so much and experienced the EFL teaching world first–hand. I played on my strengths as an educator and worked through my weakness to grow. I discovered teaching approaches that I could use to my advantage, as well as evolved my classroom control and rapport with students. What is a good teacher? It's easy to become a mediocre teacher. To be a good, even great, teacher is hard work and dedication. Maria Orlando gives 9 characteristics of a great teacher, here are just a few I agree with: a teacher who respects students, creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom, has his/her own love for learning and growing, continuously collaborates with other educators, and maintains professionalism in all areas. Adding onto this list with a few of my own characteristics I possess are: a teacher who is pleasant to be around, sensitive to the students needs/feelings, enthusiastic, hardworking, committed, driven, and organized. To become a great teacher, I intend on continuing to work hard and stay committed to my goal. Even when I think I've reached my destination, I will continue to find new ways to ... • 37. Evaluation Of ' Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results ' Evaluation of "Why Tough Teachers Get Good Results" by Joanne Lipman is a well–supported article. Mrs. Lipman gives good insight to tough teachers getting good results from their students by using her experience with her music teacher Mr. Kupchynsky. She provides many references to case studies performed on students in classrooms by doctors and graduate students to support her point. Mrs. Lipman explains that her Mr. Kupchynsky was a strict teacher, but because of his strictness when he passed away all of his past students that came to pay their respects were all successful people in life some were doctors and lawyers. Mrs. Lipman then continues to use her personal story to explain some of the conceptions of present day educators and how they are false. She uses eleven ways to prove that today's educational system as become soft on present day children. "The fear, of course, is that failure will traumatize our kids, sapping their self–esteem. Wrong again. A 2006 study, a Bowling Green State University graduate student followed 31 Ohio band students who were required to audition for placement and found that even students who placed lowest" did not decrease in their motivation and self–esteem in the long term." The study concluded that educators need "not be as concerned about the negative effects" of picking winners and losers" (Lipman). I really enjoyed reading this article, it really did open my eyes to how the world of education has changed but the old ways of teaching ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Marywood's Core Values In What Teachers Make And A Good Man I have decided to compare the novel A Good Man with the poem What Teachers Make because both have similar and different ways of showing some of Marywood's Core Values. A Good Man is about Mark Shriver and his father and how his father had done many good deeds while alive. These good deeds inspired Mark to become the person he was. In the poem What Teachers Make, it is merely about how a teacher tries to prove a point that all teachers in general have a greater purpose than most people believe. Both are great pieces of writing that show three of Marywood's Core Values: Respect, Empowerment, and Excellence. Although both pieces of writing have a strong way of portraying respect, they are done in different ways. In Mark Shriver's book A Good Man, Sargent Shriver and his wife show respect by reaching out to black people and people with disabilities. Sargent would always find a way or people to stop being racist towards the blacks and trying to treat them as equal as everyone else. The same goes for Sargent's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both talk about the excellence achieved in their careers and lives. In Mark Shriver's book, Sargent was known as a "good man" by basically everyone he knew. This was because Sargent always did good deeds for others and was a very selfless person. He was a big inspiration to his son and many others. There was not one person that hated him. This tells us that Sargent has lived an excellent life with so many achievements and selfless acts. In Taylor Mali's poem, the narrator explains that teachers are more than just someone who just teach because they need to make a salary. The examples the narrator gives of him and how he helps students, shows that he is an excellent teacher and that there are many more out there. He states that he actually tries to make a difference which is the unique quality that many people tend to notice in great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Essay on How Does One Define a Good Teacher? 'Where there is much desire to learn, there of necessity will be much arguing, much writing, many opinions; for opinions in good men is but knowledge in the making.' ––John Milton The epigram above goes a long way in providing an answer to this oft–repeated question. Of course, we must make a distinction between Aristotle instructing passionate disciples on the definition of happiness and a humble foreign language teacher attempting to familiarize a horde of boisterous adolescents to the intricacies of the English interrogative sentence. Whether adolescents back in the 4th century BC were radically different in demeanor to today's is for the anthropologists and historians to decide; in any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Enthusiasm is eerily contagious. Waiting for my first lecture on "Advanced Word Morphology" last year, I feared the worst. The lecturer, a plump and immaculately dressed man, stormed into the room and, from that moment on, never lost our attention. To think that someone could be so excited about the irregular plurals in English was a little odd at first, but it nevertheless made us listen
  • 40. to find out what could induce such animated grimaces and gesticulations. In the following week, the attendance doubled. The good teacher then, has a veritable passion for what he teaches or, less romantic but equally effective, can pretend to be. To assume that a human being can be veritably fascinated by the prospect of describing a picture in English would transcend the boundaries of good sense. Once the teacher's enthusiasm has infused into the pores of his pupils, the more cerebral aspects of his character come into play. He must possess a sound knowledge of whatever he teaches and be ready to answer in a clear and persuasive manner the arguments and opinions that Milton says will inevitably follow. The teacher–pupil interaction must be symbiotic, not merely a master–slave relationship with the teacher acting as an all–knowing, infallible tyrant. Patience is an important asset in a profession where abilities invariably differ from pupil to pupil and remaining enthusiastic is by no means an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
