What genre(s) do you think this trailer is?

This chart shows that I was able
to create a film trailer that fitted
the conventions of the action-
comedy genre, which was my
aim. Some of the viewers also
thought it had elements from
adventure films, which is
understandable as they use
similar conventions to action
films (super powers and a clear
narrative).
This chart shows that the main
conventions of action films I used
were the characters and sound.
This meant I was successful in
creating a context behind each
character and using dramatic music
to build tension and excitement.
This helps the audience to follow
the narrative easily as the heroes
wear bright clothes and the villain
wears dark clothes.

Were the camera shots effective?
This chart shows that the use of
sound was effective as it was
given an average score of 7/10,
which helps to build suspense
and tension, and create
excitement especially in fight
scenes. This allows room for
improvement, as the viewers
thought it could be louder and
have a faster pace.
This chart shows that the use of
different camera shots and angles
helped me to create a quality
trailer that was interesting. Most
viewers liked the use of fast
panning shots as they added a fast
paced element. This feedback was
useful as I was able to improve
areas to make a high quality final
trailer.

Were the props convincing?
This chart shows that the editing
was effective as it was given a score
of 5/10. Most people said it was
‘fast paced’, which helps meet the
conventions of the action genre.
They also thought the image quality
of the shots was well produced as it
‘looked like a professional film’.
Some people thought it could be
improved by working on the special
effects, which I will use as a focus
for future projects.
This chart shows that I was able
to create and use convincing
props, such as guns in the trailer.
This achieved a score of 8/10,
which suggests the trailer is high
quality, but also allows for room
for improvement, such as
creating a more realistic pipe
bomb to add realism and
authenticity.

Would you watch the film if
released?
This chart shows that the special
effects were not achieved well.
This is because I had a limited
budget and time, as well as no
previous skills in this area. This is
useful because I know which
areas I can improve. I also
gained verbal feedback which
helps me create a trailer to
directly meet the audience
needs.
This chart shows that most
people would either watch the
film or recommend it to another
person. Viewers also
commented that it would be
easy to see the film as the
release date is clear. This
suggests that I have succeeded
in creating a popular film that is
high quality.

Who do you think is the target audience for this film?
This chart shows that all 3 of my
tasks were similar to each other
through the use of ‘bright
colours, fonts and costumes’.
This helps to create a brand
image for my film and suggests
to me that I will be able to
match future projects in the
same style to create a quality
film.
This chart shows that the
majority of viewers for my film
would be teenagers and young
adults, which was the target
market I aimed at. This was
achieved as I was able to use
young characters, fight scenes
and humour to conform to the
action genre and add a light-
hearted comedic element.
7. Other feedback
• Is the storyline easy to follow?
• The storyline was given an average score of 8/10 as it was easy to follow
and understand the main aim for the protagonists. One viewer gave a
score of 4/10, as one scene had a ‘jump cut’ to another scene. This was
clear for me to see as they circled the answer on the questionnaire, so
that I could improve it for the final trailer.
• Was the magazine cover and poster effective?
• The magazine cover was given an average score of 8/10 and the poster
was given an average score of 8/10.
• Can you identify the magazine title?
• Every person was able to read the title called ‘ACTION’, which helps make
it easy to read and suit the styles of similar film magazines (Empire, Total
film).
