Heroin In the Streets of Illinois
Who would expect that a town known for their excellent education systems, well developed
economy, and rapid population expansion to have the highest record of heroin deaths in one year in
the United States? Naperville, Illinois, is a suburb of Chicago, has been dealing with the loss of
seven young adults from overdoses of heroin in 2011 (Wilson). The early deaths of these young
people are completely avoidable. Having proper knowledge of the warning signs that heroin
displays can help; but to further the knowledge, having videos available to watch helps parents talk
to their kids about drug use. Better communication can always help any problem, which is another
tactic that the city of Naperville is planning to do.

One of the filmmakers stated that they felt like the use of heroin went underground after the film
was released because parents and others learned the secrets of drugs after watching it (Healy). This
was the film that brought Naperville together to work towards a safer community.
The shaken Naperville community is beginning to take steps to stop the craze of heroin. The city of
Naperville realized that it needed to have the whole community involved– including schools, local
businesses, and religious groups. KidsMatter is a nonprofit organization that created
ParentsMatterToo which is aimed to help parents raise kids who avoid drugs. Having a strong
connection between parent and child can dramatically alter the outcome of their lives. A local article
states that: "67% of youngsters believe their parents are their biggest influence with regard to
staying drug–free" (Welge). Creating a bong between parent and child can save a life.
ParentsMatterToo has interactive videos and support groups which is offered to anyone wanting to
know more (Wilson). Having this opportunity to become educated about drugs can give parents
more comfort when talking to their kid about drug use and prevention.
ParentsMatterToo provides endless information about drug use, a common topic that would be
discussed with the support groups would be the warning signs. Parents need to be observant if they
suspect that their child is using drugs. Warning

Insurance Emperville Case Study
Getting to Know Employers Liability Insurance Naperville Running a business is risky in the sense
that nobody can predict when an accident occurs that may result to injury or death in their
employee. Having workers ' compensation insurance is not enough to cover the expenses in treating
the injured or sick worker. What employers need is a policy that can cover the liability to prevent
losses in their profits because of expensive medications and long confinement in the hospital not to
mention funeral expenses when the patient dies. Employers liability insurance Naperville
encompasses wide coverage that are not covered by the worker's compensation insurance policy.

Compare And Contrast Spring Lake And Wheaton
Naperville, Wheaton and Spring Lake are suburbs. The population and population per square mile
demographically show that these communities are suburbs. The websites of each of these areas also
show that these communities are all suburbs. They are all very similar with a few differences. They
pride themselves on safety and family oriented aspects. Each community has highly ranked schools,
parks, and countless family events. The majority of the population in each town is white. Wheaton
and Naperville both talk about how their communities offer a "small town" feel with easy access to
the comforts of chicago. Spring Lake also says that they are a "small and friendly community"
located close to Grand Rapids. Each of the towns seem to boast about

Narrative Essay On The Naperville High School
The Curse What a day! This was supposed to be an enjoyable night, but I could have never
imagined it would end like this. The day's details were tumbling around in my head, like a bingo
spinner, and I still could not figure out what went wrong. I remember it, like it was yesterday; the
Naperville High School was having its annual Halloween dance. What costume should I wear? The
choice was obvious. When I was a little girl, with pigtails and a blue fancy dress blowing in the
wind, I would run to my castle, our tree house. I would pretend, like I was in a deep hibernation,
waiting for my tall dark and handsome prince to awake me. I would open my eyes only to see my
dog, Polly, licking me with her wet little coarse tongue. Acting ... Show more content on

I slowly approached the old house, regretting every step. A wizard appeared out of nowhere at the
doorway and startled me; I jumped back like a black cat seeing a dog. He introduced himself as
Bailey, he was notorious as the headless horseman. Bailey was a strange middle aged looking man.
He was wearing a dingy black robe with purple stars; Bailey had a long gray beard that looked like
an uncombed horse's mane and smelled like seaweed. A strange feeling came over me after our
encounter. Nevertheless, my attention quickly changed to a beautiful blue princess dress just inside
the store. Rambling through the display, like a bull in a china shop, I finally found my size. After
making a dead sprint to the cash register, a green goblin with a large wart on her nose rang up my
purchase. I did not think the day could get weirder. Ordinarily, I would put my beautiful dress on
right away but I was in a hurry to get to the Halloween dance. Rushing out of the store, my foot
suddenly went crashing through the old wood deck. My beautiful princess dress went soaring
through the air, like a rocket heading for Mars. It landed in a purple puddle of goop and slowly sank
into the muck. My tears began to weld up in my eyes, while I retrieved my costume; Bailey
appeared like a fair princess coming to save his

The Swimming Pool Reconstruction At Naperville North
The swimming pool reconstruction at Naperville North was part of a two–part renovation project,
including the parking lot where the students park their cars. This two–part project ended up costing
the school $4,353,142.00, according to Lamp Incorporated Construction. Obviously, the parking lot
renovations were completed for the beginning of the school year in August, because if they were not
there would be no space for students to park and many people would be upset. There were fewer
people to complain about the swimming pool not being completed for the start of the girls swim
team season, so, logically, the parking lot was the more prominent focus of the construction workers
to finish for the start of the school year. Needless to say the start of my high school swimming
career did not go as I had imagined it, and the gender inequality became more and more evident as I
continued in the Naperville North swim team program. We had early morning practice at Naperville
Central, meaning we practiced earlier than a normal morning practice so we would have time to
travel back to Naperville North. Sometimes the bus that would take us from Naperville Central in
the morning to Naperville North was late and the swim team was late to class, which was
frightening as a freshman. Then after school instead of going straight to practice we would go home,
for what seemed like no time at all, and then we would have to change and get the carpool going so
we could all get to Naperville Central to

Learning : Grow Your Brain Cells
Learning: Grow Your Brain Cells
In the book Spark, written by Dr. John J. Ratey, he discusses how exercise can positively affect how
your brain works. He provides studies and personal experiences to support the claims he makes. I
always knew exercise would improve your life but never could have imagined how much it can
affect your brain health as well. The chapter I thought spoke the most to me was chapter two,
Learning: Grow Your Brain Cells.
The chapter starts out by mentions Naperville, which is a school that uses advice from Dr. Ratey to
provide help students prime their brains for learning by using exercise. (1) It also mentions new
information about brain pathways and connections, and the brain's plasticity. Since the book is
advertised to everyone, Dr. Ratey breaks down how the brain/nerve cells function and the most
important neurotransmitters. A nerve cell functions is by having and electrical signal travel down the
axon until it reaches the synapse. Once at the synapse a neurotransmitter takes the message from the
axon to of the first cells and goes to the receptor of the receiving cell. The receiving cell can either
stop the message if it doesn't receive enough of the stimuli or if it reaches its threshold will fire the
message down its axon to the next cell in the nerve pathway. Gamma–Aminobutyric acid commonly
referred to as GABA, and glutamate make up around 80 percent of the neurotransmitters found in
brain. GABA dampens the activity in the brain while

Christmas Influence On American Culture
Christmas has been a popular holiday for god knows how long (see what I did there?). It's
celebrated all over the world. It's a Christian holiday. Surprisingly, many non–Christians celebrate
this jolly holiday.
Ryan Dengel, Comparative Religions instructor at Naperville North, candidly expresses, "I think it's
become fairly secular, it's incredibly commercialized. I don't think Christians intended for this to
happen. It has become kind of an American tradition just as much as it become a Christian
tradition.....We have 70% of Americans classify themselves as being Christian... That's definitely
going to have a huge influence on the culture that we live in. Non Christians have been celebrating
Christmas for a while simply because you get off work, get out of school and they're bombarded
with a lot of images of things surrounded with family and gift giving. The theme of spending time
with your family, no matter what your faith or tradition is, it's ... Show more content on

"I do not doubt that the population of people who are not Christian but still celebrate Christmas has
some positive intentions. ....While my family still does these things, most all of us understand that
the birth of Christ is exponentially more important than what the media has tried to sell
"Christmas"as".
So, does this upset him?: ¨It does not upset me, it just confuses me a little. I cannot imagine
Christmas without services on its Eve and Day; as well as advent devotionals and the joy that comes
in the birth of the one true king! To me, it would feel empty. At the end of the day, the purpose of
Christmas (for me) is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and without acknowledging this, the
holiday would seem pointless (to me).¨
But many North students seem unaffected. Cairo Lawrence is a Sophomore at Naperville North and
is an Atheist. Lawrence shared her family's "Christ–less"

Nose Surgery Research Paper
What Are Your Facial Surgery Options
It is comes to your face, you know that it is the first thing that people look at. It is even the thing
you see everyday when you look into the mirror. If you are not satisfied with you face, their are
options out there for you. Time, age, weather, and even birth are all factors to consider why you are
not satisfied with your features. If it is something such wrinkles from age or life events you also
have the option of Botox. However, if you are not satisfied with something you are born with, you
may need to go with something more evasive, such as surgery.
Nose Surgery
This is one of the most common out of the facial procedures. A Rhinoplasty, also referred by as a
nose job is where they change the shape and appearance of your nose. People often choose nose

There is more to it than that. Therefore, you need to go with a doctor that has experience in
successful nose jobs. A Rhinoplasty helps your face look better as a whole. It changes the nose
shape so that it brings out you other features and makes you have more confidence in you
appearance.
Recovery Procedures
Unlike most surgeries the recovery time is not to long. It does require you to wear a splint on the
outside of the nose for approximately 5 to 7 days. This depends on how quickly your body heals.
Some doctors choose to put packing inside the nose. However, for nose surgery in Naperville, IL
they don't normally because there is not very much pain during the recovery. As with all injuries or
surgeries, there could be bruising or swelling.
It can take up to 6 months for your nose to be its permanent shape. However, the wait will be worth
it. You will have more confidence, and with more confidence, you will see more people will be
around you and you will live a happier life. However, also go to someone who has a great
reputation.

Me To We Reflection
This year, Naperville North students have been provided the opportunity to participate in Me to We,
a program with a mission to empower global change.
This is the first year that students enrolled in World Cultures and AP Comparative Government will
have Me to We weaved into their coursework. Throughout the class curriculum, several Me To We
lessons take place, in which students look at what's around them and find ways to improve their
community, and the world. NNHS Sophomore Steve Qiu describes what he's learned from the
program so far.
"You can improve your community and people around you, and solve problems, worldwide and
local," said Qiu.
Even in a few weeks, students have taken action in this program. Issues ranging from pollution on
Mill street to hunger in Africa have been discovered. Stephanie Sullivan, a World Cultures teacher
said students "name the problem at its core" and "analyze the problems in depth." Because of this,
students are becoming more knowledgeable about their communities– and the world– and how to
find solutions to issues both local and global. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After research and collaboration, Naperville North Freshman Shailen Doshi had both an issue and
solution in mind. "We're going to be running a hunger campaign to fundraise and raise awareness to
help out the people in South Sudan," said Doshi.
For now, only 2 classes are involved in the Me to We program– AP Comparative Government and
World Cultures. So far, Sullivan is the only World Cultures teacher who has Me to We in her class,
but this will change.
"All the other cultures teachers are going to do [Me to We] next year," said Sullivan.
Among the more prominent of the global issues included water, education, healthcare, and hunger.
Local issues included drugs, pollution, academic stress, and

pieces I picked that the "A Whale of a School" was the most meaningful because it was creative and

I thought were interesting but I didn't pick. There names where " Naperville Own" and "Best

Importance Of Roofing Repairs In Naperville
Roofing Repairs in Naperville IL may be needed for several reasons. Over time roofs become
damaged. The basic elements of weather effects the roof and over time it will begin to weather
down. There are several indicators that your roof may need to be repaired. When going into your
attic to bring down some old storage, you may notice some standing water or ice. This is a sure sign
that your roof is leaking. The problem may be poor shingle underlayment or a more serious issue.
During a walk through of your home you may notice some water stains. These water stains indicate
that there is a leak. Also, you may find cracks in your ceiling, showing signs of leakage. Finally,

here's no age limit on scary, as Julie Asmussen can attest.
"This is something that brings out the kid in me," Asmussen, 52, said Friday of All Hallows Eve,
Naper Settlement's annual haunted house extravaganza that's been attracting thousands of visitors
for the last 13 years.

For two nights, a dozen historic houses on the Naperville history museum's 12–acre Naperville
campus are transformed into haunted dwellings filled with creepy characters and things that go

"Everybody likes Halloween," said Asmussen, of Naperville, who has attended All Hallows Eve for
the last five years. "It's like Christmas, and there are always different things to see each time I'm
here."
Attractions this year ranged from fan favorites, such as the Mummy's Tomb, Frankenstein's
Laboratory and Dracula's Lair, to new fare, including the Dark Arts Gallery and a haunted house
based on Chicago author Lindsay Currie's newest book, "The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street."
Emma Vodick, the Settlement's public relations and social media coordinator, said preparations for
the two–day event had been going on all week prior to Friday's opening night. Staff, performers and
volunteers "were all excited to get things under way," she said.
"This is a big community event and it's awesome to see the wide range of people that come out,"
Vodick said.

Systematic reviews have suggested that those under the age of 18 years of age should have at least
60 minutes/day of physical activity in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle (Janssen & LeBlanc,
2010). As emphasized before, exercise should and may be incorporated whenever possible.
Curriculums with physical education included may optimize what is already present, such as breaks
between classes and programs that can be offered before or after school. Naperville, Illinois created
an exercise model in which P.E. classes were scheduled before academic classes to give the children
a boost and to create an enhanced state of attention (Ratey, 2009). These P.E. classes focused on the
individual student's fitness abilities and encouraged students to increase their heart rate by 80 to 90
percent, monitored by a heart monitor, at their own ideal pace. Exercising before the hardest classes
allowed the students to relax and to clear their mind, so as to be able to focus on the next subject
fully. Naperville's model proved to be successful, and showed that a class of 230,000 eighth–grade
students finished first in science in the world, and sixth in mathematics on the Trends in
International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in 1999 (Ratey, 2009). Not only that, 3

Change And Growth: Sculpture Analysis
Change and Growth For my sculpture analysis, I went to downtown Naperville. While walking
through downtown Naperville, I saw many different sculptures but the one that caught my attention
was the "Change and Growth" sculpture. This sculpture was made by Jack Holme. When I first saw
this sculpture, I knew I've never seen anything else like it. This sculpture has so many visual and
design elements. Jack Holme's sculpture is supposed to represent how the city of Naperville has
changed throughout the years and I think it does a great job of showing it. The first visual element I
noticed about this sculpture was the mass. This sculpture is about 10 feet tall and has an open form
of mass. I think it is an open form because with this sculpture, not only can you just look at it from a
distance, you can also go inside the sculpture and see that the exterior and interior of the sculpture
are different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the method that was used to create this sculpture was assembling. I think this sculpture is a
construction because it is made up of pieces of metal that seem to be welded together. It seems like
the artist also took large pieces of metal and was able to bend and weld them to his liking in order to
create the exterior of the sculpture. Then he must have took his time to carefully bend and weld the
together various pieces of metal to make the different tools that are on the interior of the sculpture.
This sculpture, "Change and Growth", by Jack Homle truly does represent the change and growth
that the town of Naperville has gone through. One way it does that is, by starting of as a plain,
simple sculpture. Then the more time you spend looking at it and exploring it, the more you see the
sculpture turn into something complex and interesting. I think it perfectly explains the town of
Naperville. Naperville might have started off as a plain and simple town but over time it grew to be
such a complex, and interesting

Why Do I Want To Be Alone Essay
When I hang out my my friends, I like to play sports, video games, and just relax. I enjoy playing
sports with my friends because we are all competitive people. Playing a quick game of pickup

Playing video games with my friends is also very intense. Sitting down and playing a game of NBA

Sometimes I like to be alone because I need the time to myself. I need downtime so I can clear my

Reflective Essay On Religion
Throughout most of my life, I have been surrounded by the secular world instead of the sacred
world. I have only gone to a catholic school for one year of my life and I did not see the importance
that religion had to some people. However, after visiting two different places of worship for Judaism
and Islam, my point of view on the impact of religion was changed. I visited the Islamic Center of
Naperville and Congregation Beth Shalom in Naperville. When visiting both places of worship, I
saw how the people there were passionate and cared about what they believed in. At the Islamic
Center, I discovered more about the Islam faith. I spoke to a member in the Muslim community,
Syed Abedi, who talked to me about how Muslims are poorly treated in the media. When I visited
Congregation Beth Shalom, I had a much different experience. I was able to interview Mr. Newman
a former rabbi about the Jewish faith. He spent considerable time with me and my classmates
answering questions. I learned about how Jews focus on traditions and their worship to God rather
than the outside world. After visiting and experiencing two different styles of worship I found that it
is common for religions to overlap, and Islam and Judaism share many similarities.
The first house of worship I visited was the Islamic Center of Naperville. On October 6, 2017 I
attended Jumu'ah service or Friday prayers as it is often called. As my mom and I drove up to the
mosque I was surprised by all the traffic entering

1. How would you describe your church?
Does the committee tend to define itself by its past, or is it excited about dreams for the future? Do
the core values look inward or outward? Rick Ezell, pastor of Naperville (Illinois) Baptist Church,

the generations since the split, that spirit of fighting might still be in the church."
3. What is this church's purpose?
Have they defined its mission? Does it have a well–thought–out strategy?
4. What is your unique role in this community?
What sets this church apart from other churches in terms of character, culture, and staff? What
specific people groups does it reach out to, or what specific ministries does it operate that no other
church in this community does?

Moving Away
Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen–year–old teenagers life.
It's hard to get up and go eight hundred miles away from everyone you know and everything you
grew up around. I had this happen to me about three years ago and it is the largest change I have
ever had to adjust to in my life. It wasn't the changes around me that I was bothered by; it was that I
did not know one living soul for hundreds of miles and all I wanted was a friend.
Two days into the summer after sophomore year at Governor Mifflin High School in the little town
of Shillington Pennsylvania I would find out the worse news that a ... Show more content on

The hardest part for me was having to say goodbye to all my friends I knew since I was little, they
would stop by the
House, start talking to me and all I could do is cry. I knew what I was leaving behind was something
irreplaceable and almost impossible to come by again.
Once my family and I arrived at our new house I was still very saddened because of the move and
had trouble not getting mad at my parents. Summer went bye like it wasn't even there and by the
time school started I was very depressed. The new school I was going to was Naperville North High
School which was about ten times the size of my old school in Pennsylvania in size and in the
number of students. In my school in Pennsylvania there were about twelve students in each class,
here the number runs around thirty two. The school building was so big I had a lot of trouble getting
to class on time let alone finding them in the building. The school wasn't what I was bothered by the
most because it was the fact that I didn't have any social life and I was a social person. There were a
lot of different groups of people at my new high school, it was tough for me to fit in and meet new
people. Everyone just knew me as the new kid and didn't even bother to find out what my real name
was. The first

Personal Narrative Essay: Lessons Learned In Football
Football
My 7th grade football coach once said It's not about how hard you fall, It's about how fast you get
back up." This is one of the many lessons you learn in football that you will never forget. This is one
story my team, coaches, and parents, would never forget and it all starts in 6th grade, practicing to
take on Naperville North with my football team. We jog out to the field after warm ups and a quick
water break. It was about 6pm, and I feel a nice breeze over my shoulders and think, this is going to
be a good practice. Our coach, Coach Pue, was setting up the 3 cone drill, a drill where one of our
running backs run the ball while 3 defenders try to tackle him. We started and I ran a couple of
times, feeling good about our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After practice, I took a shower and tried to go to sleep. I barely slept all night and my mom made an
appointment to get my knee checked out the next day. After breakfast, I stumbled to the car and we
drove to the doctor's clinic. After waiting for what felt like 2 hours, we finally saw the doctor. He
had me go through many exercises to see how my leg was and then we walked over to the X–Ray
room so they could look at my leg internally. I layed down on the hard bed and the nurse handed me
a heavy leg blanket to cover my knee. After a couple of bright flashes i was done and the doctor
stated that i would need to have my leg checked out by another doctor at the Rush Copley hospital
in Yorkville. Finally after two long days of pain and no sleep, we could see the doctor. When we
meet him, he showed us my X–Rays and stated that I was to where a knee brace and take pills to get
the internally swelling down. There was nothing else anyone could do because it was a sprain. We
drove to target to pick up the pills and find a knee brace. After trying on the knee brace i realized
that it hugged my leg so tight it was hard to move it. Also the material was extremely

How Schools Maintain The Identity Of Their Community...
"Education is a system of cultural meanings that educators, students, and communities attach to
everyday schooling practices; and these patterns of meaning have serious implications for
educational opportunity" (Carter, 144). In the city of Naperville, IL cultural alignment through
institutions such as schools serves to maintain, preserve and conserve the community's reputation
being one of the ""Top 5 Best Places to Live in America". I will further explore how schools
maintain the identity of their community through institutions such as schools; specifically I will
focus on Naperville Community Unit School District 203 (the fifth largest school system in Illinois).
I will also argue that the district and city directly and indirectly ... Show more content on

District 203 and the community coincide in their goal to produce a continuing flow of not only
functional citizens, but exceptional, law–abiding, pro–active individuals prepared to maintain
Naperville's identity. These coherences are vital to the community in order to conserve the
communities values, including monetary assets, property value, social capital, and their reputation.
Those found to not correlate with this culture are, in short, excluded as they pose a threat to the
reputation and monetary assets. Naperville is selective of those who conform or rebel against the
culture it has produced and maintained. Mike Swasko's article on the Chicago Tribune, "15
Naperville North students suspended for drinking", directly showcases the phenomenon of how
Naperville separates any that do not conform to the city and school's culture. In the article, police
Chief David Dial claimed that "we do have a problem here" referring to the community as a whole,
and continued to say "if they don't change their behavior, they are going to be in for a long school
year...". The keyword is the use of "we" and "they", referring that the problem isn't society, but
solely "those" fifteen students. Furthermore, Susan Rice, District 203's Communications Director,
stated that "parents at the homes may have been present but unaware of the underage drinking". As
absurd as this statement is, it reinforces the direct responsibility on the students, not the

I was a huge fan of Los Burritos Tapatios and it was the greatest burrito place I tried. As you first
enter the store you are met by friendly staff and the smell of chicken and steak on the grill. Then you
are asked to order at a very fair price of $6.75. Then you are seated and given complimentary chips
with salsa (which are delicious I might add). After 5 minutes, you are served the chicken burrito as it
is fresh off the grill. As you take the first bite you are out sounded at the flavor of the chicken as it is
smoky and crispy, the tomatoes which add to the acidity of the burrito, and finally the soft flour
tortilla which practically melts in your mouth. After the initial mouth you take a bite of the burrito

SUMMARY; PUMPING UP THE BRAIN
A broadcast from CBS televised a video clip from The Early Show. The show was about how
exercise helps the brain perform better and may have crucial implications for kids. The host, Dr.
Debbye Turner–Bell, provides many striking examples proving the importance of exercise: A high
school in Illinois substantiated the importance of exercise with empirical test's, which showed how
students in PE classes performed better in a math test compared to inactive students. A professor at
Harvard medical school, Dr. John Ratey, states that exercise produces growth factors called BDNF
that helps producing brain cells in hippocampus – an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many schools are de–emphasizing PE–classes – also known as Physical Education – because of
economic problems. The federal government is continuously raising the overall education budget,
but it doesn't help. Most of the funding comes from state and local government, who get their
financial act together. But are these cutbacks really necessary? We should pin down those who
disagree and solve the problem. Subsequently, revise the budget. You may ask: Are you able to
prove that your assertion is tenable? Dr. John Ratey, a professor at Harvard medical school, made

growth factors – called BDNF – that increases the production of brain cells in Hippocampus – an
area in the brain associated with memory and learning. "Now, what's ironic is that some schools
have cut back on PE in favor of more academics" (quote: Dr. Debbye Turner–Bell, pumping up the
brain) – Isn't it paradoxical? The literary lectures are being prioritized higher than PE classes and
that is also how I should be. But I know it from myself, lectures from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. without
exercise or caffeine is impossible; mind you, staying focused and still learning. The perfect
educational environment is combined with exercise. In contrast, diet and sleep habits are
fundamental, which leads to my next argument. The fundamental in sleep is REM – also called the

Drinking In High School
Drinking in high school. Something that does not come as a surprise to anyone in this day and age.
Yet the question still remains as to why kids are doing it, and what can be done to help reduce its
negative effects on the developing minds of tomorrow.
Not only is drinking an area of concern around the country, it is also impacting the students of
Naperville Central High School right now. This does not mean that every teenager at the school
drinks on a regular basis, however, and it does not mean that every teenager has the same opinion
about it either.
When teenagers drink, they are not just drinking one can of light beer, and they are not taking their
time to enjoy the taste of an aged wine. Teenagers drink to get drunk, meaning they binge ... Show

"I don't stop to think about the consequences, I just drink," the student said.
Not all teenagers have this mentality towards drinking, and will find other ways to have fun with
fellow peers. Neil Kasbekar, an 11th grader at Naperville Central High School, has a completely
different view of how to have a great Saturday night without touching alcohol at all. "Me and my
friends typically watch movies, go on a drive to McDonald's, play music and talk, and I think it's
really fun and nice," Kasbekar said. "You can talk about what's going on in your life and laugh and
remember it the next morning and feel like you're yourself the whole time." These two types of
students are on two totally different sides of the spectrum drinking wise, but are not enemies
because of it. Not all students who choose not to drink hate those who do, with the difference to
them being almost parallel to supporters of a rival sports team. "I guess my thought is that it's their

Furthermore, Preston Gralla, who wrote The Complete Idiot's Guide to Volunteering for Teens,
reveals that "one of the best ways to meet new people and make friends is to volunteer" and that
volunteering is "a great way to meet people you otherwise might never meet." 3. As a result,
volunteering can help increase socialization among college students, including several people in this
class, who find it difficult to connect with others and find new friends outside of their normal social
groups. 4. Volunteering will also increase students' overall development that was linked to
socialization in college in Lising's article that I previously mentioned. B. College students can
improve their physical and mental health through volunteering. 1. According to Ian Wilhelm in a
journal article in the Chronicle of Philanthropy, volunteering can add years to your live, lower rates
of depression, and help you recover faster from illnesses than people who do not volunteer. a.
Therefore, volunteering can help decrease the high prevalence of depression found amongst college
students. b. Volunteering can help college students recover quicker from the germs that are spread

Persuasive Speech For School Day
Thank you for your dedication to providing an excellent education system for all students in District
203. Your hard work has made the district have very high rankings and be one of the best districts in
the state. As a student at Naperville Central High School, I understand that all school days are
important and that they all count towards our grades. In spite of that, many Muslim students have no
choice but to miss school due to an Islamic holiday called Eid. Therefore, there should be a day off
on the only religious holiday that is celebrated by Muslims. Eid is a religious holiday that is
celebrated by Muslims; it occurs two times in a year. Eid al–Fitr is celebrated to mark the end of the
fasting month, the month in which the Muslim holy book, the Quran, was revealed to the prophet
Muhammad (pbuh). Another Eid occurs a few months later which is called, Eid al–Adha. This Eid is
important to Muslims because it commemorates the willingness of Prophet Abraham to follow
God's command to sacrifice his son. According to the Equality for Eid Coalition from CNN, there
are currently thousands of Muslim staff and students that have to choose between their education
and observing their religious practices. They either skip school, with an excused absence, to
celebrate both Eids, or they skip their religious observances to attend school. Naperville has a
current population of 147,122 citizens, of which 6.65% are Muslims, yet most have to debate
whether or not they should

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving
As much as we would like to, we can't plan for everything. Long before we're even aware of them,
these things happen and it's only within our control to make the best of it. One way I've made the
most out of a decision I couldn't control was when my parents moved us from Naperville, Illinois, a
place I grew up and lived in for 15 years of my life, to Bakersfield, California. The thought of
change scared me because Naperville was the only place I had ever known.
The first time the idea of moving was brought up was when I was in fifth grade. One day, my
parents asked out of the blue how I would feel about moving away. My immediate response was of
course no, why would I want to move? I loved my school, my teachers, my house, and most
importantly my friends. I had everything I wanted. They didn't push much after that, they weren't
too serious about it after all. My mom had received a job offer in a different state but they both
agreed that with how young my siblings and I were, now was not the right time for us to move.
I never expected the topic to be brought up again. I always thought I would graduate from the same
high school both of my siblings did with my best friends at my side. I was shocked when sophomore

burned into mind. After hugging the life out of all of my friends and kissing the walls of my
childhood home, it was time to leave. The plane ride from O'Hare Airport to LAX was the longest

Are Criminals Rational Decision Makers Essay
When asking whether criminals are rational decision makers, or are they mostly motivated by
uncontrollable psychological and emotional drives or social forces such as poverty and despair,
there is not a definite and concise answer because it all depends on the criminal and the many
factors affecting his/her decision. For instance, criminals are not driven to commit a crime by a
single force. From a Rational Theorist perspective, a criminal when deciding whether to commit a
crime or not, he will base his decision on the cost/benefits that come from that crime. For example,
the criminal before committing the crime would consider whether or not he will be arrested, the
harshness of the penalty for committing the crime, and finally the rewards ... Show more content on

This is highly evident in the city of Chicago and its suburbs because in the inner city in some places
the homicide rate is 116/100,000 but in suburbs like Naperville the homicide rate is 1/100,000. So
there must be something about the ecological differences in which people live that shapes their
choices in the first place. One reason there is a great difference in the rates of crime in places that
are so proximal to each other is the norms and beliefs that are upheld in that community. For
example, in the inner city many people commit crimes due to the "street culture" that in a way
provides an incentive to commit the crime if they want to have the lavish styles that their peers are
part of. So in reality, it is difficult to determine a single force that drives a criminal to commit a
certain crime. Hence, it has been difficult for the criminal justice system to implement programs and
control methods in order to control crime. For example, if the criminal did act on rationality than
implementing harsher punishments would deter the criminal from committing the crime. However,
this control method has provided mix results and in some cases crime has even gone up more when
harsher penalties were implemented. This is partially because some criminals don't act on just
rationality but on uncontrollable forces as well. Finally, there is some criminals that don't even care
about the consequences of committing the crime and only think about the

excuse not showing up was that you always forget to pack your gym bag. People forget stuff all the

Heroin In The Streets Of Illinois

  • 1. Heroin In the Streets of Illinois Who would expect that a town known for their excellent education systems, well developed economy, and rapid population expansion to have the highest record of heroin deaths in one year in the United States? Naperville, Illinois, is a suburb of Chicago, has been dealing with the loss of seven young adults from overdoses of heroin in 2011 (Wilson). The early deaths of these young people are completely avoidable. Having proper knowledge of the warning signs that heroin displays can help; but to further the knowledge, having videos available to watch helps parents talk to their kids about drug use. Better communication can always help any problem, which is another tactic that the city of Naperville is planning to do. Heroin is not a drug you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the filmmakers stated that they felt like the use of heroin went underground after the film was released because parents and others learned the secrets of drugs after watching it (Healy). This was the film that brought Naperville together to work towards a safer community. The shaken Naperville community is beginning to take steps to stop the craze of heroin. The city of Naperville realized that it needed to have the whole community involved– including schools, local businesses, and religious groups. KidsMatter is a nonprofit organization that created ParentsMatterToo which is aimed to help parents raise kids who avoid drugs. Having a strong connection between parent and child can dramatically alter the outcome of their lives. A local article states that: "67% of youngsters believe their parents are their biggest influence with regard to staying drug–free" (Welge). Creating a bong between parent and child can save a life. ParentsMatterToo has interactive videos and support groups which is offered to anyone wanting to know more (Wilson). Having this opportunity to become educated about drugs can give parents more comfort when talking to their kid about drug use and prevention. ParentsMatterToo provides endless information about drug use, a common topic that would be discussed with the support groups would be the warning signs. Parents need to be observant if they suspect that their child is using drugs. Warning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The population and population per square mile demographically show that these communities are suburbs. The websites of each of these areas also show that these communities are all suburbs. They are all very similar with a few differences. They pride themselves on safety and family oriented aspects. Each community has highly ranked schools, parks, and countless family events. The majority of the population in each town is white. Wheaton and Naperville both talk about how their communities offer a "small town" feel with easy access to the comforts of chicago. • 4. Narrative Essay On The Naperville High School The Curse What a day! This was supposed to be an enjoyable night, but I could have never imagined it would end like this. The day's details were tumbling around in my head, like a bingo spinner, and I still could not figure out what went wrong. I remember it, like it was yesterday; the Naperville High School was having its annual Halloween dance. What costume should I wear? The choice was obvious. When I was a little girl, with pigtails and a blue fancy dress blowing in the wind, I would run to my castle, our tree house. I would pretend, like I was in a deep hibernation, waiting for my tall dark and handsome prince to awake me. I would open my eyes only to see my dog, Polly, licking me with her wet little coarse tongue. Acting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I slowly approached the old house, regretting every step. A wizard appeared out of nowhere at the doorway and startled me; I jumped back like a black cat seeing a dog. He introduced himself as Bailey, he was notorious as the headless horseman. Bailey was a strange middle aged looking man. He was wearing a dingy black robe with purple stars; Bailey had a long gray beard that looked like an uncombed horse's mane and smelled like seaweed. A strange feeling came over me after our encounter. Nevertheless, my attention quickly changed to a beautiful blue princess dress just inside the store. Rambling through the display, like a bull in a china shop, I finally found my size. After making a dead sprint to the cash register, a green goblin with a large wart on her nose rang up my purchase. I did not think the day could get weirder. Ordinarily, I would put my beautiful dress on right away but I was in a hurry to get to the Halloween dance. Rushing out of the store, my foot suddenly went crashing through the old wood deck. My beautiful princess dress went soaring through the air, like a rocket heading for Mars. It landed in a purple puddle of goop and slowly sank into the muck. My tears began to weld up in my eyes, while I retrieved my costume; Bailey appeared like a fair princess coming to save his ... • 5. The Swimming Pool Reconstruction At Naperville North The swimming pool reconstruction at Naperville North was part of a two–part renovation project, including the parking lot where the students park their cars. This two–part project ended up costing the school $4,353,142.00, according to Lamp Incorporated Construction. Obviously, the parking lot renovations were completed for the beginning of the school year in August, because if they were not there would be no space for students to park and many people would be upset. There were fewer people to complain about the swimming pool not being completed for the start of the girls swim team season, so, logically, the parking lot was the more prominent focus of the construction workers to finish for the start of the school year. Needless to say the start of my high school swimming career did not go as I had imagined it, and the gender inequality became more and more evident as I continued in the Naperville North swim team program. We had early morning practice at Naperville Central, meaning we practiced earlier than a normal morning practice so we would have time to travel back to Naperville North. Sometimes the bus that would take us from Naperville Central in the morning to Naperville North was late and the swim team was late to class, which was frightening as a freshman. Then after school instead of going straight to practice we would go home, for what seemed like no time at all, and then we would have to change and get the carpool going so we could all get to Naperville Central to ... • 6. Learning : Grow Your Brain Cells Learning: Grow Your Brain Cells In the book Spark, written by Dr. John J. Ratey, he discusses how exercise can positively affect how your brain works. He provides studies and personal experiences to support the claims he makes. I always knew exercise would improve your life but never could have imagined how much it can affect your brain health as well. The chapter I thought spoke the most to me was chapter two, Learning: Grow Your Brain Cells. The chapter starts out by mentions Naperville, which is a school that uses advice from Dr. Ratey to provide help students prime their brains for learning by using exercise. (1) It also mentions new information about brain pathways and connections, and the brain's plasticity. Since the book is advertised to everyone, Dr. Ratey breaks down how the brain/nerve cells function and the most important neurotransmitters. A nerve cell functions is by having and electrical signal travel down the axon until it reaches the synapse. Once at the synapse a neurotransmitter takes the message from the axon to of the first cells and goes to the receptor of the receiving cell. The receiving cell can either stop the message if it doesn't receive enough of the stimuli or if it reaches its threshold will fire the message down its axon to the next cell in the nerve pathway. Gamma–Aminobutyric acid commonly referred to as GABA, and glutamate make up around 80 percent of the neurotransmitters found in brain. GABA dampens the activity in the brain while ... • 7. Christmas Influence On American Culture Christmas has been a popular holiday for god knows how long (see what I did there?). It's celebrated all over the world. It's a Christian holiday. Surprisingly, many non–Christians celebrate this jolly holiday. Ryan Dengel, Comparative Religions instructor at Naperville North, candidly expresses, "I think it's become fairly secular, it's incredibly commercialized. I don't think Christians intended for this to happen. It has become kind of an American tradition just as much as it become a Christian tradition.....We have 70% of Americans classify themselves as being Christian... That's definitely going to have a huge influence on the culture that we live in. Non Christians have been celebrating Christmas for a while simply because you get off work, get out of school and they're bombarded with a lot of images of things surrounded with family and gift giving. "I do not doubt that the population of people who are not Christian but still celebrate Christmas has some positive intentions. ....While my family still does these things, most all of us understand that the birth of Christ is exponentially more important than what the media has tried to sell "Christmas"as". So, does this upset him?: ¨It does not upset me, it just confuses me a little. I cannot imagine Christmas without services on its Eve and Day; as well as advent devotionals and the joy that comes in the birth of the one true king! To me, it would feel empty. At the end of the day, the purpose of Christmas (for me) is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and without acknowledging this, the holiday would seem pointless (to me).¨ But many North students seem unaffected. This is the first year that students enrolled in World Cultures and AP Comparative Government will have Me to We weaved into their coursework. Throughout the class curriculum, several Me To We lessons take place, in which students look at what's around them and find ways to improve their community, and the world. NNHS Sophomore Steve Qiu describes what he's learned from the program so far. "You can improve your community and people around you, and solve problems, worldwide and local," said Qiu. Even in a few weeks, students have taken action in this program. Issues ranging from pollution on Mill street to hunger in Africa have been discovered. "This is something that brings out the kid in me," Asmussen, 52, said Friday of All Hallows Eve, Naper Settlement's annual haunted house extravaganza that's been attracting thousands of visitors for the last 13 years. ADVERTISING For two nights, a dozen historic houses on the Naperville history museum's 12–acre Naperville campus are transformed into haunted dwellings filled with creepy characters and things that go bump in the night. "Everybody likes Halloween," said Asmussen, of Naperville, who has attended All Hallows Eve for the last five years. "It's like Christmas, and there are always different things to see each time I'm here." Attractions this year ranged from fan favorites, such as the Mummy's Tomb, Frankenstein's Laboratory and Dracula's Lair, to new fare, including the Dark Arts Gallery and a haunted house based on Chicago author Lindsay Currie's newest book, "The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street." Emma Vodick, the Settlement's public relations and social media coordinator, said preparations for the two–day event had been going on all week prior to Friday's opening night. Staff, performers and volunteers "were all excited to get things under way," she said. "This is a big community event and it's awesome to see the wide range of people that come out," Vodick said. Systematic reviews have suggested that those under the age of 18 years of age should have at least 60 minutes/day of physical activity in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle (Janssen & LeBlanc, 2010). As emphasized before, exercise should and may be incorporated whenever possible. Curriculums with physical education included may optimize what is already present, such as breaks between classes and programs that can be offered before or after school. Naperville, Illinois created an exercise model in which P.E. classes were scheduled before academic classes to give the children a boost and to create an enhanced state of attention (Ratey, 2009). These P.E. classes focused on the individual student's fitness abilities and encouraged students to increase their heart rate by 80 to 90 percent, monitored by a heart monitor, at their own ideal pace. Exercising before the hardest classes allowed the students to relax and to clear their mind, so as to be able to focus on the next subject fully. We also needed to introduce roundnet to people who have never played or heard of roundnet. The measurables did not change over the term for this goal. The goal was important because having participants to play was the key to the whole event. We also wanted to have a big number of teams in order to put us on the map for future events. While getting the word out about the event was a marketing task, getting people to sign up was a class effort. • 17. Change And Growth: Sculpture Analysis Change and Growth For my sculpture analysis, I went to downtown Naperville. While walking through downtown Naperville, I saw many different sculptures but the one that caught my attention was the "Change and Growth" sculpture. This sculpture was made by Jack Holme. When I first saw this sculpture, I knew I've never seen anything else like it. This sculpture has so many visual and design elements. Jack Holme's sculpture is supposed to represent how the city of Naperville has changed throughout the years and I think it does a great job of showing it. The first visual element I noticed about this sculpture was the mass. This sculpture is about 10 feet tall and has an open form of mass. I think it is an open form because with this sculpture, not only can you just look at it from a distance, you can also go inside the sculpture and see that the exterior and interior of the sculpture are different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think the method that was used to create this sculpture was assembling. I think this sculpture is a construction because it is made up of pieces of metal that seem to be welded together. It seems like the artist also took large pieces of metal and was able to bend and weld them to his liking in order to create the exterior of the sculpture. Then he must have took his time to carefully bend and weld the together various pieces of metal to make the different tools that are on the interior of the sculpture. This sculpture, "Change and Growth", by Jack Homle truly does represent the change and growth that the town of Naperville has gone through. One way it does that is, by starting of as a plain, simple sculpture. Then the more time you spend looking at it and exploring it, the more you see the sculpture turn into something complex and interesting. I think it perfectly explains the town of Naperville. • 22. Reflective Essay On Religion Throughout most of my life, I have been surrounded by the secular world instead of the sacred world. I have only gone to a catholic school for one year of my life and I did not see the importance that religion had to some people. However, after visiting two different places of worship for Judaism and Islam, my point of view on the impact of religion was changed. I visited the Islamic Center of Naperville and Congregation Beth Shalom in Naperville. When visiting both places of worship, I saw how the people there were passionate and cared about what they believed in. At the Islamic Center, I discovered more about the Islam faith. I spoke to a member in the Muslim community, Syed Abedi, who talked to me about how Muslims are poorly treated in the media. When I visited Congregation Beth Shalom, I had a much different experience. I was able to interview Mr. Newman a former rabbi about the Jewish faith. He spent considerable time with me and my classmates answering questions. I learned about how Jews focus on traditions and their worship to God rather than the outside world. After visiting and experiencing two different styles of worship I found that it is common for religions to overlap, and Islam and Judaism share many similarities. The first house of worship I visited was the Islamic Center of Naperville. On October 6, 2017 I attended Jumu'ah service or Friday prayers as it is often called. These coherences are vital to the community in order to conserve the communities values, including monetary assets, property value, social capital, and their reputation. Those found to not correlate with this culture are, in short, excluded as they pose a threat to the reputation and monetary assets. Naperville is selective of those who conform or rebel against the culture it has produced and maintained. Mike Swasko's article on the Chicago Tribune, "15 Naperville North students suspended for drinking", directly showcases the phenomenon of how Naperville separates any that do not conform to the city and school's culture. In the article, police Chief David Dial claimed that "we do have a problem here" referring to the community as a whole, and continued to say "if they don't change their behavior, they are going to be in for a long school year...". The keyword is the use of "we" and "they", referring that the problem isn't society, but solely "those" fifteen students.
