Introduction
Ideas are like children, all different, and inventors are like parents, all of whom have a vested
interest in their progeny s success. Some parents encourage free expression and exploration, while
others hover. (Source?)
The innovative process may start as a dream, an idea, or thought that is fleeting and that needs to
be nurtured and brought forth. The Cleveland Clinic has a process to foster the new ideas and
incubate them within the medical community and to all society. It could be illustrated on paper

generate profit. Cleveland Clinic Innovations was originally started with a different driver of
innovation compared with a typical corporation s research and development. The goal of
Cleveland Clinic Innovations was to provide incentives to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation
employees while also adding benefits and technology to society. Generating revenue and profit
were still very important but less of the main focus. After year of improvement and iteration,
Cleveland Clinic Innovations is a success in just about any measure. It may have been able to
reach new highs by not being restrained by the typical measures for success. In an environment
where societal benefit is important, potential innovators will be more encouraged to step up and
show off their ideas even if the inventor is not sure how to monetize

5. Effect Of Groupthink On Investing

21 November 2016
Effect of Groupthink on Investing Groupthink is something that influences most things that people
do on a daily basis. People use groupthink every single day to make decisions, to confirm their
decisions, or even to compare to the decisions that they have already come to. Although groupthink
has its distinct advantages in certain situations, there are without a doubt situations in which
groupthink can be seen as a hindrance. How companies, and even individuals, invest their money is
something that is undoubtedly being affected by groupthink every single day. Groupthink can give
investors an extreme disadvantage and it can be shown by things throughout history. So, this paper
is going to dive into the effects that groupthink has on investors and therefore the effects that it can
even have on the economy. To understand the effectthat groupthink has on investors, and therefore
the economy, we must first comprehend what groupthink encompasses. Groupthink was a term
devised in 1972 by psychologist Irving Janis. According to Janis, groupthink ensues when a group
makes flawed choices because group pressures lead to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality
testing, and oral judgement. Essentially what this means is that our decision making can be
severely hampered by what the majority of the members of the group may think is the correct way
to go about whatever situation may be at hand. People affected

6. Factors That Influence The Development Of Cerebral Palsy
Purpose The purpose of this article is to explore and gain an understanding of the factors that
influence the development of cerebral palsy in infants born prematurely and at term.
Description This article explores a number of factors that have been identified as well as what
still needs to be done in regards to establishing the etiology of cerebral palsy (CP). The author
notes that there is still little research (as of 2008) in regards of the environmental influence on
the development of CP. The research for CP in obstetrics has been led by Eastman and DeLeon
since the mid 1950s. Their study had 5 major findings that have been the basis for more current
research. Their findings were that although prematurity is a risk factor, the majority of CP
develops in infants were born at term. Secondly, placental abruption and cord prolapse, while
dangerous to the fetus and uncommon, do not contribute a major share to CP. Thirdly, while in the
delivery room, half of the term infants that were deemed in good health then later developed CP.
Fourth, congenital anomalies can be attributed as a cause of CP. Lastly, mothers who were febrile
during labor increased the chances of their children developing CP. The author goes onto to talk
about how we (as doctors and researchers) know what we know about CP. Nelson cites the
development of neuroimaging technologies, helping with the discovery of brain malformations as a
contributing cause of CP. The author then delves into the causative

8. Pretty How Town
For this week s journal I chose Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E. E. Cummings. It is
quite interesting poem with simple words that can be easily understood by readers. The
meaning of the poem is that it describes the simple/ordinary life cycle of human beings. All
people grow up, work, get married and then die. For example, someones married their everyones
laughed their crying and did their dance (line 17 18) and One day anyone died I guess (line 25).
It also shows the modern life, that everyone is busy in their life and doesn t really care about
others in their surroundings. As it stated, women and men (both little and small) cared for anyone
not at all (line 5 6). It also shows the common and simple people, whose identity is not very
important.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem, Cummings used a simple and weird names such as anyone , noone , and how town
maybe to represent a specific era or small town. The fifth element is personification which is a
thing, an animal, or an abstract term is made human (p.455). In the poem stars, rain, sun and
moon are used to show human s condition. Also bell is used to show all humans. For example,
women and men (both dong and ding) (line, 33). I think the way Cummings placed all the words
in order, he represented a good story. As a reader I was enjoying and had a feeling that I m
reading a story. This sequence of words and step by step definition made it easily for me to
understand better the whole meaning behind the poem. For example at first he started by giving
an idea about people s ordinary life that no one cares for each other anymore. Then it slowly goes
to each step and phase of life and states how life is going to end. The poetic elements that have
been used are also simple and clear that can be easily grasped. Therefore, it really helped me to
imagine the whole poem, and interpret it

10. The Great Mayan City Of Tikal
The world has been made unforgettable with the creation of photography.
As mankind rapidly evolved recording events became harder. Early history is only able to be
pictured with using our imagination. Often times historians often clash about what the world
looked like. Ancient civilizations from the Mayans and Aztecs have never been seen while they
were in their pristine condition. The world is left with written descriptions and ruins not only of the
cities themselves, but also the tools used. After the camera was invented in the early 1800s, events
were more frequently recorded and it was clear what tools and cities looked like before modern day.
Photography has undoubtedly altered how we document events, created new job openings, and will
give generations to come amazing art and show defining moments from each generation.
Photography has helped evolve the world by creating new jobs and revolutionizing how events are
documented.
Before photography, capturing moments and keeping them alive was through word of mouth, or
written on paper. The great Mayan City of Tikal was finally constructed by 600 A.D. Tikal was
said to have had immense sports arenas, multiple hospitals, schools, and libraries. When the
Spaniards came around 1000 A.D., the Maya had vanished, leaving the ruins of their city behind.
The Spaniards documented what was seen, but some notes were unclear or lost (Maya). After the
camera had been invented in 1826 by Joseph Niepce, people were skeptical if it would

11. The Effects Of Premarital Sex On Children And Young Adults
Innocence Lost When God created man and woman, his sole purpose was for them to be fruitful
and multiply. Sex was created by God and meant for marriage. Therefore, woman valued their
chastity and would not do a disservice to their bodies. Premarital sex should not be practice because
it leads to unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and loss of innocence. In 1275,
England established the age of consent to be 12 to prevent older men from ravishing the young
maidens to ensure their chastity remained undamaged until marriage( Age of Consent ). Although
the age of consent law is confusing the most important matter is to keep our children and young

The rate of illegitimate births in the United States has risen sharply since the early 1970s. In the
1940s fewer than five percent of the total births were out of wedlock. By the early 2000s,
according to statistics compiled by the Center for Health Statistics at the U.S. HEALTH AND
HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT , births to unmarried mothers accounted for nearly one third
of all U.S. births(Batten 353 356.) To indulge in premarital sex, leaves a woman heartbroken when
the man who fathered the child refuse to take responsibility for that child leaving the child
fatherless. In addition to having sex outside of marriage is the sexual transmitted diseases that a
young lady or man may contract if they are not using protection.
Even though condoms are not always effective at preventing pregnancies or contracting sexually
transmitted diseases including HIV (Warner). Therefore, we should teach are children to hold on to

12. Summary Of The American Dream In David Kushner s Levittown
Levittown Open Ended Response David Kushner s Levittown is a depiction of the struggles faced
by an African American family named the Myers when they moved into the suburb of Levittown,
Pennsylvania. Additionally, the book highlights the ideas of what the American Dream truly is
according to some of the families mentioned in the book. The three main families represented in
this book are the Myers, the Wechslers, and the Levitts. For the Wechsler family, the American
Dream can be simply stated as furthering equality for all people. The author explains this view on
the American Dream by stating, Their vision of the American Dream was built on the conviction
that they could change the world... (Kushner 24). This change that the author is referring to is the
change of America from a generally segregated and discriminatory society to an integrated and
equal society. Furthermore, the quote shows that the Wechslers are willing to fight in the name of
attaining their American Dream of equality for everyone. In addition, this connects to the
Communist beliefs of Bea and Lew Wechsler because in their eyes, Communism promotes
equality of all people. Expanding on this, the Myers are very important to Wechsler s American
Dream. When the Wechsler s next door neighbor William Hughes asks the Wechslers if he can let a
black realtor show the house, they immediately see it as an opportunity to make a change in
Levittown. The author states, They had never backed down from a fight, and the

13. Early Knowledge Of Sight Words
Sight Words The ability to recognize words is imperative children s reading fluency. As children
progress through school, if there word recognition does not increase they are at risk. Sight words
are important for words that are not easily decodable, because they provide contexts and allow for
the child s comprehension (Sullivan, Konrad, Joseph, Luu, 2013). How children go about learning
sight words is a common question amongst researchers. Children acquire early knowledge of
sight words in the home whether it be conversation or practice, as well as at school. The
following research provides evidence assessing these relationships. Early word recognition is
linked to reading literacy in the future. Infants hear thousands of words within their first year of
life, however, picking up the words and remembering them are a higher cognitive ability, and
typically infants are not developmentally ready to do so. Infants are unable to determine word
boundaries, while towards the end of infancy stress cues can be picked up. Junge and Cutler (2014)

14. Captives And Voyagers Analysis
In Captives and Voyagers, Alexander X. Byrd argues that the three movements of black migrants,
whether free or enslaved, to Sierra Leone and Jamaica comprised of a cultural and social
transformation unique to black migrant society, catalyzed not only by the prime transatlantic
journeys of each group, but also by their preceding multi leveled passages leading up to their
voyage and settlement. Byrd further exemplifies the notion that the African diaspora in black
migration to Sierra Leone and Jamaica inescapably intertwined with the British empire. The violent,
arduous, and dehumanizing passage of captives from the hinterland to the Biafran littoral
alienated the slaves from their former culture and home. Prevalent in the interior, deracination
deprived the enslaved of their own identities which led, more often than not, to the formation of
kinship between captives; ties of which were rooted in the common struggle of enslavement.
Byrd alludes to these ties by stating that captives were in a state of marginality, their old senses
of place, self, and identification enfeebled and new ones yet to be fully determined (Byrd 26).
Such need for a unique identification of a marginalized group of people led to many identifying
as Igbo. Byrd goes on to claim that life on the ship further fueled the process of becoming Igbo. In
his own words, the slave ship was a forcing house of social change (Byrd 56). The deprivation,
violence, morbidity, and high mortality rates experienced in

Groupon has been the primary source of bargaining leading individuals to try promotional offers
at restaurants, stores, and more. Their model works because shoppers are always looking for the

trusted guide to local businesses. Their success now drives from the shift from searching and

20. The Growth Of Electronic Commerce
Growth of Electronic Commerce Commerce is the activity of buying or selling things. When two
person come together to change things in return of something they are doing business.
Traditionally, trade was done by meeting in person with the buyer or seller but that doesn t hold
true in the 21st century. Today most of the business have adopted electronic form of business. John
B. Horrigan writes, Two thirds (66%) of online Americans say they have purchased a product
online, such as a book, toy, music, or clothing. Many people have moved on with online shopping
for some good reasons that comes with it. One of the reason is it being convenient. E commerce
provides option of home delivery which saves effort of actually going to the store and move
around to make a choice. Buying online means to just seat on your couch and make a selection
without even moving from your place. The best part of it is that you just have to place the order
and it gets delivered at your doorsteps. Number of internet users have been increasing since 2000,
but the online transaction rate has been increasing more rapidly. 78% of internet users either
agree (53%) or agree strongly (25%) with the proposition that shopping online is convenient for
them (Horrigan). The other reason why electronic form of business is popular is that it saves a lot
of time to people. While it makes convenient to buy almost everything from home, it also save time

22. Essay on Arnold Palmer
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES AT ARNOLD PALMER HOSPITAL
Question 1
Arnold Palmer Hospital exists due to its customers who are the patients. Knowing the customers
expectations is very important for improving the hospital s services because as part of the total
quality management at the hospital where process of continuous improvement, there is always room
for improvement and perfection. If patient(s) is or are disgruntled by any service(s), the hospital
should be thinking about ways to improve their process. Further, a patient s assessment enables the
hospital to know whether their services would be recommended to others as word of mouth is the
best advertising. Also, patients will not have the expertise to judge the quality of ... Show more

Patients today can judge better regarding their health care quality than anyone else. When patients
are given quality service experience and provided with the detailed information on their health
problems and the corresponding medical diagnosis and treatments they will be in a position to
judge the health care he/she receives
Question 2
Customer satisfaction is everything. It is through the detailed survey that initiates quality initiatives
and process changes based on this surveys of which the implemented change start at the grass root
levels with staff closest to the area of need identified from these surveys. Arnold Palmer Hospital
further builds the culture of quality by observing the four quality quadrants as analysed by the
executive team namely service, quality, finance and human resources that make the organisation
focus on same goals, vision and to be in the same line to achieve same result of quality culture. So,
it would be very important for me to ensure that the hospital staff cares for the patients, and that the
staff is responsive to the patient s needs. Further, all the four determinants of quality have to be
successfully met of which are:
Reliability: Creating a culture that radically reduces system failure and effectively respond when
failures do occur is the goal of high reliability. The concept of reliability has to be used to make
patient care better. It is used to achieve patient safety, quality, and efficiency goals.

Predictors of fear avoidance beliefs in patients with acute low back pain: Investigting the effects of
pain characteristics and functional disability
Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of disability and work absence globally,
affecting not just the individual, but also extending to families, communities and society at large.
Whilst the prevalence of LBP is high, with over 70 percent of people experiencing some LBP at
some point during their lives, most will resolve within a few months (Campbell et al, 2013).
Problems arise when pain persists beyond the expected period of healing or when it exceeds 12
weeks in duration. An estimated 40 percent of people who present with acute LBP continue to

Previous research has identified pain characteristics and beliefs as well as fear avoidance beliefs as
potential predictors of the development of chronic pain. Waddel et al (1993) found that fear
avoidance beliefs accounted for 23 percent of the variance in disability in ADL s and 26% of
variance in work loss, after controlling for pain. Fear avoidance beliefs in relation to physical
activity have been shown to be predictive of increased disability in older adults with chronic LBP
(Camacho Soto et al, 2012). In a large scale 5 year longitudinal UK study of 488 patients to
determine prognostic factors that predict pain and disability, two key predictive factors identified
were pain intensity and the belief that pain would persist (Campbell et al, 2013).
Given the contribution of fear avoidance beliefs to the development of chronic pain and
disability, in this study we sought to explore predictors of fear avoidance beliefs. Despite the
brevity of the FABQ PA, in local clinical practice, the administration of the FABQ is often difficult
due to language barriers and difficulty with the rating scale. Therefore the purpose of the this study
was to investigate possible predictors of fear avoidance beliefs from information commonly derived
from a physiotherapy initial

24. Gender Roles In Rebecca Solnit s Cassandra Amongst The...
Hysteria derives from the greek work uterus. That notion refers to women everywhere having to
live by the myth of gender roles. Most of the time these stereotypes turn into name calling which
result in a harassment of words sticking long enough to the point where it s deemed as normal. The
significance of that myth by people who endure verbal attacks correlates to how the rest of the
crowd then perceives the judged. The consequences that follow are in the form of reputation
creating these social norms that are unfair. In the tale Cassandra Amongst the Creeps, author
Rebecca Solnit exemplifies the topic of how myths create social norms with the setting stone story
of the goddess denying a Gods sexual request. As a result the curse of disbelief and tainted
credibility of women was made normal as that myth stayed alive throughout history even to this day.
In conjunction to Solnit, Lauren Holmes author of Barbara the Slut exhibits the modern setting of a
high schoolto portray how impactful perceptionand credibility derived from that myth are. Both
authors entertain how certain attitudes perpetuate future problems that can destroy characters
esteem. Barbara s scarred credibility was in result of other people s false conscious of her
character. Barbara the Slut s story represents the meaning of Solnit s belief of myth changing reality
by exhibiting how women s sexuality is tied to perception, and how that perception changes
individual s credibility and reputation.

Both Song of Myself by Walt Whitman and Howl by Allen Ginsberg are important pieces of
American poetry. Song of Myself was written in the 1850 s and Howl was written about a century
later. Both poets were part of groups that wanted to change America the Transcendentalists and the
Beats. Transcendentalists believed in the goodness of people and nature. They believe that people
are at their best when they are truly independent. The Beats rejected standard values and
materialism. They experimented with drugs and sexuality. Both movements tended to portray the
wilderness as heavenly, while thinking that human nightlife was too showy. Both of these groups
were fully American literary movements. Both poets mention nature in the poems. Both poets write
about their reactions to the politics of their time. The poems were rebellions against the
commonalities of their cultures. Whitman and Ginsberg both believed in democracy. They both
protested against industrialization and tradition. Both poets wrote in dangerous times. They
wanted to take a stand against what they thought was wrong with the world. They both wanted to
take on the burden of being true to what America is really supposed to be. Both poets were gay.
Also, both poets were very young at the time that they wrote these poems. Ginsberg was greatly
influenced by Whitman when writing Howl . While writing, he was even reading some of
Whitman s poems. He wanted his world to be like how Whitman saw his own world in

Was the Falklands War a political success or failure for the Thatcher government?
On 2 April 1982, the British political system was rocked by news of an extraordinary event eight
thousand miles away in the South Atlantic. A long standing and thorny dispute with Argentina over
sovereignty of the Falkland Islands a tiny relic of empire proximate to the South American mainland
had erupted with a sudden and unprovoked invasion of British territory by Argentine forces. Britain
s Conservative government faced the greatest crisis in foreign affairs for a generation (Freedman,

By the 1960s, the territory had all but outlived its commercial and strategic usefulness; its defence
was financially untenable; and they caused a tremendous strain on British Argentine relations.
Relinquishing this imperial hangover to the nation that so passionately demanded its sovereignty
seemed a perfect solution and, indeed, successive British governments have indicated a willingness
to oblige (Jenkins, 2007). The difficulty, however, was that this most obvious of remedies has
always contravened the expressed wishes of the local population, who consider themselves wholly
British. This clash of interests hatched a string of dilatory and rather confused policy initiatives, on
the one hand assuring British rule to the Islanders whilst, at the same time, discussing a future
transfer of sovereignty with Argentina (Sharp, 1999). Hence, by the time Thatcher came to power in
1979, Argentina s patience had worn thin, indeed, its national press were signalling dire
consequences for Britain s continued filibustering. To break this uneasy deadlock, Thatcher s new
Foreign Secretary, Lord Carrington, proposed a compromise termed leaseback , which asserted
Britain would concede sovereignty to Argentina on the condition that a British administration then
be permitted to govern the Islands hence protecting the lifestyles and freedoms of the local
inhabitants (Freedman, 1988). With Thatcher s government appearing prepared to relinquish the
leftovers of empire recently

30. Analysis Of The Poem The World Is Too Much With Us
The poem, The World Is Too Much with Us by William Wordsworth argues that people s disregard
for nature s importance makes them lose their humanity. Wordsworth sees materialism as a waste
of our powers (359). Our powers of being able to keep in touch with a fundamental part of
themselves. To preserve and see the beauty of nature. Instead of building upon it. The start of the
Industrialization in Britain brought factories, buildings, and a newly built world. This shifted the
focus from living from nature to living away from it. Wordsworth explains it as, getting and
spending, we lay waste our powers: little we see in nature that is ours (359). Nature has become a

Which quickly spread and became all consuming. The social changes that were taking place
brought a new attitude. Gone was the slow moving life of rural living replaced by urban living.
Urbanization gave an urgency to the people. An attitude of greed for more growth, production,

unskilled workers for cheap and leaving skilled workers still searching for jobs. Leaving many
lower class people unsatisfied and living in an increasingly dismal conditions. These negative
changes left Wordsworth dispirited. He understood the importance of enjoying the outside world

Herewith, staffs nurses have significant liability to their patients. They can not afford to make

34. The Political Economy Model Of Migration Policy
Gary Freeman suggests the gap between rhetoric and reality is best described in a political
economic account of migration policy. The political economy model of migration is modelled on
the interests of three sets of rational actors: voters, organised groups and state actors who attempts
to maximize their individual goals subject to state interests in different contexts (Freeman, 2002).
The first is post industrial change, which suggests stances on immigrationpolicy are better viewed
as interests defined by social groups (Freeman, 2002: 84). The second is the spatial account, where
the population compete for finite resources in densely settled areas exacerbated by strong
advocates of immigration in these locations, such as businesses which could help explain the gap
between rhetoric and action. The third is the international approach, where state protectionism
regulates the trade of goods and people. If immigration is economically beneficial to the state, it
will continue regardless of public sentiments. As social welfare effects are key determinants of a
countries migration policy , if migration stimulates the economy, it will have a positive impact on
society (Freeman, 2002: 88).

When the therapist would incorporate softball related activities into my therapy I certainly was more

Schkade and Schultz aims to describe the link between the two fundamental constructs of
occupational therapy, namely; occupation and adaptation (Schultz Schkade, 1992). This theory
primarily focuses on the interplay between the external and the internal factors that are interacting
continuously during completion of occupations. The constant factor is press for mastery which

present and Wordsworth towards the past. Regardless of where each poet looks for their

Technological advancement and social progress were steps backwards for Wordsworth and thus he
looked to the past for his inspiration.
John Keats did not have the luxury time that Wordsworth had to look to the past and reminisce
about things that were because he knew he did not have long to live. Even from a young age
Keats felt his life would be a short one and he so he applied himself to his art with a desperate
urgency . Keats died at twenty six years old and managed to leave behind some of the greatest
poetry ever written. He didn t bother to look toward the future because he knew that he wouldn t
live to see it and he didn t look to the past because he decided that it was more important to live in
the moment.
Keats was very aware of his own mortality and his poetry reflected the intensity and the passion
of a man who didn t have very long to live. His poetry remains some of the densest prose ever
penned because, like his brief existence, he had to condense so much life into so little space. The
thought of impending death would be enough to make anyone fall into hopeless despair but Keats
s incredible talents and commitment to live in the moment perhaps allowed him to three lifetimes.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is part of the Department of the United States Treasury. It is
one of the most efficient tax administrators in the world. During fiscal year 2012, the IRS $2.5
trillion in revenue and processed 237 million tax returns. For every $100 it collected in fiscal
year 2012, the IRS spent a mere 48 cents. The mission of the IRS is to provide U.S. taxpayers a
top quality service by helping them pay their taxes, enforce the laws regarding taxes, and assist
taxpayers with understanding their taxes. The IRS values integrity and fairness for all taxpayers. In
the U.S., Congress passes taxlaws and taxpayers are required to comply. The taxpayer s role is to

the narrative of The Nutcracker. The production did this by having grand, bright costumes and sets

normally a prerequisite for a democracy (Starr 39). He did stage an election for himself, but it was
certainly rigged being that Saigon with roughly 405,000 registered voters, somehow cast 605,000
votes for Diem (Starr 39).
Diem was therefore determined to be the best man for the job of preventing communism in S.
Vietnam. One reason is most likely because he was Westernized being that he lived for some
time in the Mayknoll Seminaries in New Jersey and New York State (Genesis 116). He quickly
gained the approval of American Catholics such as Cardinal Spellman, which certified Diem as an
important anti Communist (Scheer 116). Some Americans were skeptical of Diem at the time, but
as Secretary John Foster Dulles simply stated, the United States could simply not find a better man
to carry out its designs and Diem is only means US sees to save South Vietnam and counteract
revolution. US sees no one else who can (Gettleman 133). This is, however, a little unsettling being
that it sounds as though the U.S. merely settled on Diem in lieu of a better candidate.
The American people then, perhaps influenced by the media, agreed with their government s
approval of Diem. In the June 29, 1959 edition of Newsweek, Diem was deemed one of the ablest
free Asian leaders and his government

42. The Influence Of The Nazca Ceramics
Unlike Moche, Nazca ceramics are much more detailed and decorative. At this point they were
using up to fifteen pigments and thirteen colors on one single vase. The Nazca were divided into
valleys and in each the village they had their very own priest/ religious leader who also lived in
the large structure (most likely pyramids) which were made of adobe along with other elites.
Nazca artifacts indicate that their religious beliefs are greatly centered on the worship of multiple
gods in the hopes of prosperous agriculture and fertility. Priest in the Nasca society had the power
to organize community work and direct all religious activities, which is how Cahuachi was built.
Cahuachi is the largest Nasca site on the South coast thus far measuring

44. Octopi Research Paper
Octopi: Why Stand Out When You Can Blend In? Aquatic species are full of interesting
physiological designs, from gills to adaptive skin, they have learned to adjust to their environment
in order to have optimal survival. When it comes to physiological adaptations, camouflage proves
impressive. Organisms from many different speciesutilize camouflage in order to maximize
survival: owls, geckos, fish to name a few. However, cephalopod mollusks such as an octopus
utilize camouflage as their primary defense against predators. The reliance on mimicry displays
how refined and detailed the mechanism to camouflage is, otherwise the success of the species
would not be where it is today. By utilizing visual acuity and specialized skin, octopi are able...

Octopi are independent, solitary organisms found commonly in reefs and pilings. This behavior
is dictated by their need to evade predators through camouflage. If octopi lived in large groups
they would stand out more and be unable to evade predators. Similarly, octopi live in reefs and
pilings because they are able to use the corals and pilings to mimic easily. Picking a single coral
attribute in a whole reef allows endless mimicry possibilities for the octopi and increases their
chances of evading a predator. Not only does the information obtained from octopi camouflage
provide information on cephalopod behavior, this also helps explain concepts of camouflage in all
organisms. Having one of the most advanced mimicry systems, the octopus only produces three
patterns, of which allow them to survive. It is suggested that knowing this provides an insight on
the very simple relationship between prey and predator (Hanlon, et al.,

45. The Rebirth Of A Forgotten Virtue By Daniel Akst
In the pugnacious article Thrift: The Rebirth of a Forgotten Virtue, the writer Daniel Akst uncovers
the characterization and slant of the utilization of thrift. Throughout the article, Akst gives a few
perspectives and cases of certain powerful individuals and their perspectives. Alongside the different
perspectives of the individuals, there are numerous quotes from well respected people. When Akst
uncovers his actual position on thrift towards the closure of his factious article, he trusts that thrift
makes solidness. The targeted group that Akst aims for is the general population of money
spenders in America. His intention of composing this article is to advise individuals about thrift and
that by thrifting you make budgetary opportunity. The rhetorical analysis strategies that will be
exemplified are pathos, as well as logos. Daniel Akst is successful in his contention that thrift makes
opportunity with illustrations of hurried speculations, quotes of persuasive individuals and
measurable proof. The strategy used by Akst as a part of his factious article is pathos, which is
used to helped persuade his audience through his use of logical reasoning. The use of pathos
throughout the article shows faith in how Americans burns through cash and how they ought to
burn through cash. To the extent that thrift produces wealth, it breeds envy (511). Akst is claiming
that riches breeds or creates envy in everybody naturally. Akst does not bolster his claim that riches

46. Role of the Mexican-American War in Bridging the Gap...
ABOLITION TO SECESSION VIA MEXICAN AMERICAN WAR 1 The Mexican American
War (1846 1848) marked a midpoint in U.S. history that bridged the gap between the abolitionist
movement and the Civil War, which is not always recognized but is in some ways still with us
today. Teacher Eric Burnett, for example, outlines a long list of catalysts leading up to the Civil
War itself but omits the Mexican American war even though the Civil War catalysts go back
through the 1840s all the way back to Eli Whitney inventing the Cotton Gin in 1793 (2010, n.p.).
The Mexican American war, however, aggravated the division between the free, abolitionist
North, and the pro slave South, where the abolitionist Northerners saw the U.S. annexation of
Texas and the lands north of the Rio Grande after the decisive victory over Mexico, as an attempt
by the slave states to extend slavery and enhance their power when additional slave states were
created out of soon to be acquired Mexican lands (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012, n.p.). This re
opened a conflict that had been lying dormant since the Missouri Compromise of 1820, where
Missouri and any new states south of the Missouri border would enter the Union as slave states, but
anything north of Missouri would enter as free states. This aggravated the political division that
would result in the birth of the abolitionist Republican party, and cause the imbalance between the
pro slave South, against the anti slavery North, that led directly to Jan. 1861

49. Athenian Comedy Research Paper
Athenian Comedy Way back when, only males were allowed to be in plays. Since there was
limited males who actually wanted to perform, some guys had to take on more than one role. The
plays were performed in open air theatre. Athenian comedy is originally from Ancient Greece.
Athenian comedy is broken up into three section: Old comedy, New comedy, and Middle comedy.
OLD COMEDY
Old comedy came about in honors of Dionysus. It was based on Fertility riots and political satire.
It was comedy of the 5th century B.C. The only play that was completed from the earliest days was
Aristophanes Acharnians. People that did old comedy seemed to have a humorous sense of humor.
They joked around about all kinds things that were happening around them. It could be about
famous people to the neighbors dog. They joked about religion and mythology, but they never
seemed to mention the higher gods. They would over exaggerate and have such colorful language.
These plays were very entertaining and popular back in those days. On their scenes they would

and the matching hat with the feather on the side? The New comedy started to do music during
the breaks. They didn t do the chorus during the play like the Old Comedy. They focused on a
five act structure. They put the different social classes in and really anything you could relate
with with your own family as characters. It was more relatable within your life compared to Old

50. Women Grievances Of Women
Often society today only addresses one side of the gender inequality issue; the grievances of
women. Feminists have fought the ingrained tradition of women subjected to life as a housewife
with no rights since women are looked down upon as the lesser sex. Women have spent hundred of
years trying to break down genderbarriers and constructs. Less discussed in the social issues of
today are the grievances men face. The issues of misogyny and misandry are discussed by the
authors of Marked Women, A Woman s Beauty, Man Bashing, and The Men We Carry in Our
Lives. Although men lead lives that are not absent from gender discrimination, women have
historically and still currently oppressed by men in society and still fighting for equal rights.
Women are judged upon every choice and every action they take. Being marked means that a
judgement can be formed about one s character. An unmarked form of a word means what you
think of when you re not thinking anything special, a luxury that women do not have. In the article
Marked Women, Deborah Tannen elaborates on how women are inherently marked in everything
they do. Clothing that are too tight will mark a woman as promiscuous while loose clothing
would be marked as lazy. Makeup is also definitive mark on the character of a woman. Tannen
states in the article how you couldn t say the men didn t wear makeup in the sense that you could
say a woman didn t wear makeup, which demonstrates how a judgement can always be

51. The P5 + 1 Agreement With Iran

An Atrocity of a Deal: The P5+1 Agreement with Iran The P5+1 Agreement, an agreement struck
between Iran, China, Russia, France, United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and the European
Union. But, why, and what does this deal place on Iran, that can limit their nuclear abilities, as
displayed in the past. The deal brings forth rather easy sanctions relief for Iran, limits uranium
enrichment to a certain extent where Iran can still produce nuclear weaponry, and reduces the
enriched uranium stockpile that can be sold for more natural uranium which can be used to produce
more enriched uranium with its ability to still develop advanced centrifuges. The issues lies within
the broad and quite loosely held terms of this agreement. Knowing the terms of this agreement, the
expected result of these provisions, this deal will actually shorten the time to an Iranian nuclear
bomb and allow Iran to produce more nuclear bombs than it currently can construct using enriched
uranium and plutonium fuel stated Fred Fleitz from Fox News. The agreement puts the citizens of
many countries at high risk, and the evidence of this is incontrovertible, as Iran has access to
things that were previously denied of access. The question to ask is, should the senate support this
agreement? Sanction relief is the last thing Iran needs if the United States and the rest of the
countries are going to limit the proliferation of

The foundations of the International Typographic Style can be traced to two art schools, the Zurich
School of the Applied Arts and the School of Design in Basel, who taught a curriculum in which
form follows function.
The 1950s saw a boom of the International style when it was epitomized with the creation of
several new san serif type families. The geometric fonts on the 1920s and 30s was rejected in favor
of designs inspired by Akzidenz Grotesk fonts. Two fonts would soon take the world by storm. In
1954 a Swiss designer working in Paris by the name of Adrian Frutiger created a family of 21 san
serif fonts which he named, Univers. At the same time, back in Switzerland Edouard Hoffman of
the Haas type foundry in Switzerland felt that the Akzidenz Grtotesk fonts should be refined and
upgraded. Hoffman had been waiting for the right moment to release a new typeface and in 1956 he
contacted Max Miedinger, who had worked with him at Haas and had since branched out as a
freelance consultant and designer to help create the new typeface for Haas. Hamburgers. No, not
the food, the word. Miedinger began to create a new typeface by working out the letters in the
word, hamburgers, a word that includes all stylistic variations of letters. First working on pencil and
paper and then creating photographic reproductions Miedinger set out to create

53. Economic Growth And Economic Development
Economic growth refers to an increase in the capacity for an economy to produce goods and
services as compared from one period of time to another. It can be measured either in nominal terms
which include inflation, or in real terms that are adjusted for inflation. It is mainly influenced by
unemployment, inflation, technology levels, rate of investment, population growth rate, among other
factors. These factors are used further to explain the differences in the varying level of output per
capita between and among countries, and explain why some countries are economically growing
faster than others. These factors are best represented in both the theoretical and empirical forms
through the neoclassical endogenous growth models (Steil, 2013, n.p.).
Economic growth revolves around business cycle which include the following phases; depression,
growth or expansion, boom and recession. During economic downfalls such as recession and
depression phases, it is evident that aggregate demand for both goods and services might be
insufficient thus leading to unnecessarily high unemployment rates, low investments and potential
losses of economic output. At this phase the economy of a country goes down as some of the
investments and savings are used to cater for other basic necessities. Inflation also pins down the
growth further as the purchasing power of the current level of income is greatly reduced. As
explained by the IS/LM model in the general theory by John Hicks, there are some

Develop a well thought contingency plan
Companies almost always go through difficult times. And although those difficult times may appear
out of nowhere, most of the time, the warning signs are always there.
Therefore, it is imperative to learn to recognize the signs of problems.
By identifying potential problems before they arise, you can try to prevent them from occurring
completely.
Learn from your mistakes and build on your successes
Of course, just as you are likely to experience success in the things you do, it is also likely that you

And when it comes to business, you will have the opportunity to improve in both scenarios.
Ask yourself what did you do wrong or what did you do well, why it worked or not, and what can
be done differently.
These questions will help you make educated and intelligent business decisions that will help your
