1. TREATMENT
The magazine that I will be creating will be an R&B music magazine. My target audience will
be the age group 13-18years. I decided this from the primary research of my questionnaires;
the magazine will be aimed at both genres, as the R&B genre is extremely diverse catering
for the gender categories.
The price of my magazine will be from £2.50-£3.00. This was the most popular price that
people in my questionnaire said that they would pay for a high-end music magazine on the
market. I found this would be a reasonable price that my target audience will be able to
afford and give my magazine value. By making the magazine more affordable for the target
audience allows the magazine to be more desirable. It will also benefit the brand, as it will
make profit by lowing the price more magazines will be purchased.
I will be planning and creating a front cover for my magazine, a contents page and a double
page spread which will show an exclusive interview of the person on my front cover
advertising their music and them individually as an artist. The front page will be simple and
original layout that will engage and appeal to my target audience. The layout of the
magazine will be similar to the ones I have researched such as Billboard and Vibe magazine
this will allow my magazine to appear as a high end magazine conforming to the magazine
conventions.
The colours that I intend to use for my magazine will be warm, dark yet colourful and
vibrant. This is very common on RnB music magazines; colours such as black, red, brown,
purple, grey, white and maroon represent the urban genre.
The colour scheme of my magazine will make it recognisable to my target audience and
buying customers, it will make the target audience directly gaze as the magazine creating
enthusiasm and change in mood. The colour scheme will be associated with emotion and
vibe. The colour scheme will run fluently through each page in the magazine, this will make
it look smart and coordinated.
