Questionnaire
1. Questionnaire
For our film we asked twenty people from our target audience and
showed our film in order to receive feedback as to if our storyline
made sense and what conventions we should include to satisfy our
demographic.
2. Question 1.
What did you think of the storyline?
13 out of 20 people said they enjoyed the storyline and thought it was enticing, they
were excited to see what happened to Lucy and how she coped with what she’d done.
“ I really enjoyed the narrative, I thought it was an interesting concept with the therapy
session juxtaposed with the flashbacks.”
The other 7 people said the storyline was interesting but slightly confusing.
“ I thought the storyline was exciting however I was slightly confused as to what the
situation was with Lucy and her parents. I think it should’ve been shown that David
killed Louise.”
3. Question 2.
Which genre do you prefer, psychological thriller or horror?
16 out of 20 people said they prefer the thriller genre because it is more relatable.
“I liked the fact the film heavily focused on Lucy’s mental state, this made the film have
a unique selling point as the concept was original because they focused on a
teenager.”
The other 4 students preferred the horror genre and they would hope the rest of the
film would be more violent.
“I liked the final flashback with the knife and the blood, because it mixed both thriller
and horror together. It also made the film have a more sinister feel.”
4. Question 3.
What conventions did you like?
10 out of 20 people liked the jump cuts because they were disorientating.
“ The jump cuts worked well with the non-diegetic music, it made the feel very
tense towards the end, I wanted to continue watching.”
The other half of students like the point of view shots, how one was fast paced
and the other juxtaposed in slow motion.
“This made the film extremely tense and added suspense. I liked the fast paced
editing then how it quickly changed to slow motion. It gave an insight into Lucy’s
mind and how she was feeling. Furthermore I liked that this was paired with heavy
breathing and heart beat.”
5. Question 4.
What do you think should be improved?
12 out of 20 people said they thought we could have used more imaginative
transitions instead of continuously using fades to black and white.
“I liked the film but maybe a dissolve or wipe could’ve been used in order to make
it more interesting.”
8 people said we could’ve made the flashbacks more detailed so it was
understandable.
“ A flashback could’ve been added of Lucy’s dad killing her mum, this would’ve
made the narrative easier to understand.”
