Tackling Environmental Problems Today Is More Difficult
With the world forever changing politicians are chosen by the populace to make decisions based on
the needs of the people. Current political gridlock in this nation has made it extremely difficult to
pass legislation pertain to the economy, workforce and health. While these items are discussed daily
by political pundits one issue that equally important is usually placed on the backburner due to
political posturing the health of the planet. "Tackling environmental problems today is more difficult
because the nature of the "problems" has changed: where such problems were once primarily
scientific and technocratic in nature, they are now almost exclusively problems of politics". (Turin)
This posturing has become a major issue for society and could lead to dire consequences in the
future. It is time for us to come together and address the issues of political influence, in order for us
to have a meaningful conversation we must discussion the influence of special interest groups,
understand how politicians manipulate and use false authority to push agendas and also discover the
importance of citizen involvement.
Lobbyists for special interest are hired to attempt "to try to convince congressional committee
members to act in their favor on issues that were important to them". (Wright, 45) This tactic is used
on the state, local and federal levels of government, while not all lobbyist fight for causes that
maybe harmful to the environment. Some special interest groups are designed

Ecological Problems Facing United States Today
There are many ecological problems facing us in the United States today. Among those issues
includes global warming, our dependence on fossil fuel, saving our endangered wildlife, and
ensuring that we have safe and sufficient water. There is one environmental issue, however, that
streams across all these areas, and threatens the safety of our country, and of many bodies of water
all over the world, and that is the issue of Oil Spills. An oil spill can be defined as, "an unintentional
release of crude oil or refined oil products into the environment." Oil spills are considered to be a
major source of chemical pollution. Most of these spills occur through human error, however, there
are cases where oil seeps through deposits under the ocean floor. These spills can occur on land, in
the ocean, and even when oil is spilled down storm drains that lead directly into lakes and rivers.
Not only do oil spills threaten to destroy our ecosystem and endanger our wildlife, oil spills can be
harmful to human beings as well. The reason that this is so stems from the fact that oil itself is
considered to be "semi–volatile." This means that it can evaporate into the air and create a heavy
vapor which lingers and can be breathed in by humans, and can travel deeply into people's lungs.
This can in turn cause many health issues such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, and even difficulty
breathing. Over an even longer period of time, the chemicals that are found in oil, and that are
evaporated into

Problems In Scotland Today
Muslims face many problems in Scotland today. One problem is that many people see Muslims as a
threat because of recent terrorist attacks and, though some do not say anything in particular, there is
an air of distrust when a Muslim is present. Another problem is that many Muslims also face racial
abuse, but the main victims are women because they wear items of clothing that are easily identified
as being Muslim, such as Hijabs and Burkas. Another problem that a report found is that 21% of
Scottish people would object to a Muslim teacher, teaching their children, compared to 4% if the
teacher was Asian. Also a problem is the fact that many Scottish people think that Scotland would
lose it's identity if more Muslims came to the country, despite

Gender Inequality In The Media
Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across our television
screens, constantly crop up in our daily conversations, and dominate the news and media. But wait,
there's something missing from the list of names above– a group constituting nearly 51% of our
population– women("Women's Health USA 2012."). Scarce are mentions of successful female
journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news
channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by
most– in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn't hit me until recently that women
were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such
an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the
media defies not only our principles, but also the nation's principles. How can we claim that we are
a nation of equal opportunity if we don't practice what we preach? We must encourage women to
increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering
the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity
between the sexes.
The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects– the shunning of women into petty,
less important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in leadership in media. According to a
report on the

Women 's Rights Are Still A Problem Today
Women's rights are still a problem today. Not necessarily rights but how they are treated and how
sexist some people are. I personally don't like how some of the men treat women. They don't think
women can do things for themselves, if we try to be equal or have the same kind of job they
discriminate them, because they think men should be in charge and be the leader. Although the
campaign for women's suffrage started before the civil war you can see how long it took them to get
what they wanted. With all the other 'non–equal' events going on all sorts of reform groups were
proliferating across the United States–temperance clubs, religious movements and moral–reform
societies, anti–slavery organizations–and in many of these, women played a ... Show more content

They wanted to be equal to men. If they were made to be equal why aren't we treated like it. The
women wanted to have equal rights and responsibilities and also be able to vote. Two other women
had an effect on this lady strike, Alice Paul and Carrie Chapman Catt. Carrie was president of the
NAWSA but resigned because of the military direct–action tactic while Alice organized the National
Woman 's Party. The United States wasn't the only place fighting for women's right to vote. Great
Britain, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Finland, and Norway. I'm sure there were many
others because this was kind of a big deal. From the places that started people talking about
women's suffrage and getting to be able to vote, it quickly spread throughout the world and suddenly
a lot of women wanted to be able to vote. I mean it makes sense or else I wouldn't be talking about
women suffrage and how it got passed. The United Nations Convention on the Political Rights of
Women, adopted in 1952, provides that "women shall be entitled to vote in all elections on equal
terms with men, without any discrimination." On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment granted the
ballot to American women ending women 's suffrage. Over time it has gotten better but the working
conditions for women used to be pretty bad. Not saying it was fair for really anyone but it

The Censorship Of Singapore ( Mda )
The practise of censorship – the restriction of ideas, action or image through the control of the media
or any other medium of expression. Censorship should be practised sensibly so that it will not
restrict the development and expression of new ideas while ensuring that social and political
harmony is assured. Censorship plays a vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and
creating an economically dynamic, socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. (N.A, N.D) The
press exert a significant influence on the public and is partly responsible for the views and values
that many hold. Hence, it should be responsible with what it put forth to the public. Singapore has
gradually moved from film censorship to film classification and now to the focus on media literacy.
Media Authority of Singapore (MDA) plays a significant role in regulating and conducting matters
pertaining to the media. It is guided by legislation/acts such as Media Development Authority of
Singapore Act, code of practice and guideline to comply and enforce the entities. In this term paper,
we will discuss how the media handle censorship and classification related matters as well as
reviewing the Films Appeal Committee under the films act policy. In this regard, recommendations
will also be given on how to improve the clause.
The media environment has undergone major changes, driven largely by the forces of technology,
media convergence and globalisation. (Media Development Authority, 2014) As

Social Problem Of India Today Essay
India is a very fast developing country in the world, one of the fastest. India also has the fastest
growing economy in the world (Beck). But at the same time there are several problems yet today in
Modern India which is affecting the development and growth of the country. The social problems in
India today have their roots in the diversity of religion, language, and culture. There were many
people to have huge attachment to one's region, language, religion and when these attachments grow
to an crazy extreme level they create intolerance for other religions, languages, problems are bound
to rise. So many cases of tragedy such as peaceful protests, riots and poverty has shaped the
outcome of what India has become today. "An eye for an eye makes everybody blind" summarizes
Gandhi's view of violence. Gandhi did not believe in violence as a technique of achieving his goal
of an independent India. He taught non–violent non effort to create for the people of India. When
Gandhi was arrested many times and put to prison, his followers were tempted to fight back to
British authorities. Gandhi fasted until he convinced his followers to stop fighting so that he would
eat again. After that Gandhi thought the British authorities would free the indian people as they
wanted to be. Gandhi was wrong. Brigadier General Dyer ordered his soldiers to open fire open field
of people. Killing thousands of women children and men. This massacre took place in Bagh where

How Racism Became A Problem Today
Jae Xiong
How Racism Became a Problem Today Racism is a deeply ingrained problem in our social systems.
Even though we publicly denounce racism, it still continues to be an issue in our everyday lives. We
choose to be ignorant of racism 's influence until we see people affected by it on the news or in
person. Even then, rarely do we choose to act upon what we see. The United States may have come
a long way to completing Martin Luther King Jr 's dream, but our biases are still a prominent issue
today. In this country every race and every gender has a say in the government. The Emancipation
proclamation and abolishing segregation are only a few of the many steps toward a truly equal
country. America has made great strides to gain racial equality, but we still hold racial prejudice and
negative stereotypes. Because of our previous racist past, we often associate a person 's outward
appearance with their personality and character. For example we assume all Asians are smart, all
black people are criminals, and all Hispanics are great soccer players. We have assimilated other
races in to our government and our popular culture, however we still show our racial biases by
socially segregating their abilities and potential. This is the cause for our blatantly racial crisis such
as the George Zimmerman case and the riots in Baltimore. As a whole, America 's prejudice has
significantly decreased over time, but racial biases in our past makes it hard to eradicate these

The Problem With Today 's Police
Is there really a problem with today 's police? When the U.S. retreated back several years ago from
waging constant battles in Iraq and Afghanistan, the mindset of war continues to remain unchanged.
The current administration now hands out military surplus gear left and right, gearing local police
officers to wage war in the neighborhood of America 's residents. Officers looked ready to fight a
war, when donning their new police uniforms with a discreet black or camouflage pattern along with
the latest and greatest military advancements in weapons and tactics. The level of tactical superiority
provides only short term relief to the situation, but on the contrary creates a significant amount of
long term problems in deteriorating public support of police. Through the public support of ending
the 1033 program, change the culture of the police, and the need of community centered training.
These steps guarantee the disseverment of police militarization due to the duty of the citizen to take
the law into their own hand and account. The major solution in solving the case of police
militarization deals directly with the current mindset of the citizen. The need for ending the 1033
program, which grants police department numerous military grade equipment from transportation
vehicle, camouflage clothing, and firearms. There calls for public support for the matter in ending
the program and returning the equipment to the state and recycle the material for different uses. The

The Problems that Our World Faces Today Essay
The Problems that Our World Faces Today The earth is considered as one of the most beautiful
planets in the universe. It is the only planet in our galaxy that has enough water to support life.
Unfortunately our planet is suffering due to many problems which should be solved before it is too
late. The major problems that are facing our world today are population, pollution and animal
extinction. One of the problems facing our world is population. It began about ten thousand years
ago when the humans settled and began farming. The farming provides more food for the people
thus making the population grow. Now we are about 6 billion in population and in a few years we
will be around 10 to 11 billion. Therefore, our population will ... Show more content on

Pollution is another major factor that is threatening our world today. One example of pollution is
nitrogen. Humans are adding about 130 to 150 million tons over the 90 to 150 tons that are produced
by the nitrogen cycle. This excess in nitrogen causes coastal waters and estuaries to grow toxic
algae, killing the fish and trapping the solar heat in the air. Another example of pollution is methane.
Methane is produced by gases released by cows, termite mounds or by the bottom of rice paddy. If
found in the air methane is very poisonous. By raising more cattle, cutting more tropical forests,
thus increasing the amount of termites, and by growing more rice, the methane concentration in the
air is almost twice as higher as it was 160,000 years ago. Smoke is another pollution factor. Smoke
that is produced by cars contains carbon dioxide (CO2). This carbon dioxide in the air causes global
warming, which results in the green house effect and climate changes. Satellite studies show that
perhaps we will increase the temperature by 3.6 degrees by the year 2001. The warmer the weather
the more water it can hold, the higher the precipitation will be. The higher the precipitation the more
clouds, the more rain, and the more snow there will be. This will result in more storms and floods.
Studies by Thomas Karl of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed that the
total winter precipitation in the US has increased to about 10% since

Situation Analysis : The Nation 's Newspaper
Situation Analysis
USA Today, subtitled "The Nation's Newspaper", debuted in 1982 as America's first national
general– interest newspaper. The creator, Allen H. Neuharth, until 1989 was the Chairman of
Gannett Co., Inc., a diversified international news, information, and communications company
which is now worth $4.7 billion.
USA Today achieved rapid success due to its innovative format. No other media source had
considered a national newspaper written in shorter pieces and sprinkled with eye–catching, colorful
photos, graphs and charts. Readers found USA Today's refreshing and more engaging than other
papers.
The newspaper grew from roughly 350,000 readers in 1982 to approximately 5.9 million daily print
and online readers today. USA Today is still to this day the number one print newspaper and their
websites manages to stay one of the Internet's most popular sites for news and information.
Unfortunately, today, the paper faces unprecedented competition from a variety of sources at a time
when more and more Americans, especially younger people, are turning away from printed news.
That shift has affected the company financially as well. USA Today and other newspapers have
struggled with falling revenues and increased costs for several years. Both print and online
advertising revenues have been falling steadily, declining by over 51 percent since 2005. Classified
advertising has been hit particularly hard, declining by over 71 percent in just six years, most likely

Health Reporting Has Significant Public Health Implications
"Health reporting has significant public health implications" (Tang & Peng, 2015, p. 187). Media
usage through radio, film, television or print, is a resourceful and valuable method to communicate
health awareness and health promotion (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw & O'Grady, 2014). Newspapers
are a valuable form of communication as 75% of American adults report newspaper utilization as a
source for health information (Tang & Peng, 2015). Although effective on many accounts, this form
of print media has its disadvantages as national newspapers are intended to reach a wide audience
and does not necessarily reach the target population, such as the rural setting (Mason et al., 2013).
Such is the case as with this assignment. Elizabeth City is the largest city in northeastern North
Carolina, and national papers are not routinely delivered to households or larger businesses, such as
the hospital. In order to physically locate a national paper, a trip was necessary to the local coffee
shop, and the only national paper available was USA Today.
USA Today does not have a designated health section; however, on the bottom right of page 3A of
the September 1, 2016, edition, the first health article was featured, written by Liz Szabo. Liz Szabo
has been a medical reporter since 2004 and has reported on cancer, heart disease, pediatrics, women
's health, public health and infectious disease, including AIDS (USA Today, 2016). She has received
awards for her work in health reporting from

Reflection Paper
I chose assessment #10: Authenticity Scale (Biswas–Diener, 2010, p. 122) for my assessment.
Between this current quarter and the last, I pushed myself beyond limits on another section of the
Appalachian Trail. On the morning of day number 3 out of 6, I snapped a selfie of myself as I
crested a ridge line on a bald (treeless ridge line with unlimited views). The photo was unique and
looked manipulated with a filter due to the glare from the sunrise burning through thin patches of
fog spilling over the ridge as if the mountain was an airfoil. That photo is now my Facebook profile
picture and titled, "Nothing artificial." I have always pushed myself to be true and authentic in all I
do. That does not mean being perfect, it means being honest with myself.
Unfortunately, this strength of authenticity (i.e., the VIA strength of honesty is further defined as
being authentic with integrity) facilitates a mindset that does not tolerate others who are not. One of
my other strengths (as tested in a spiritual gifts test) is discernment. I can usually tell when someone
is not being authentic. I strive to be authentic and I expect the same from others if they want me to
trust them.
The news is full of stories of a lack thereof in this strength of being authentic. Yesterday, Matt Lauer
was fired from NBC for misconduct outside the scope of this discussion. He most likely had been
posing for years. Posing is to affect an attitude or character to deceive or impress. My

Lack of Communication Is the Biggest Problem in Healthcare...
Problem Statement & Introduction One of the major problems in healthcare today is the ineffective
communication among hospital personnel, patients and their families, and the effect it has on patient
safety. Communication, as a whole, is very complex and is the root of teamwork and collaboration
which aids in keeping patients safe in the hospital. Throughout the healthcare field today patient–
centered care and patient safety seem to be major focus points. Unfortunately, ineffective
communication can potentially cause patient harm and even death. The breech in ineffective
communication between hospital staff and family was clearly portrayed in the story of Lewis

During the multiple days Lewis was in the hospital a series of symptoms developed and he was
misdiagnosed by doctors twice. Many staff members from the healthcare team came in and out of
Lewis's room without properly identifying themselves to Lewis or his family (Haskell, 2009). As
portrayed in Appendix 1, all of these safety mishaps during Lewis's stay led to a decrease in patient
and family satisfaction. Also, patient–centered care seems to have almost not even existed in Lewis's
story which affected his safety. Purpose Statement The purpose of this paper is to discuss how lack
of communication is the root cause in a patient's demise. The author will argue that poor
collaboration of doctors and nurses, overall satisfaction, and patient–centered care collectively affect
patient safety. This paper will enunciate the primary causes that were detected and propose a
solution to further enhance the safety and well–being of patients. Quality Measure There are six
quality and safety measures as defined by the Institute of medicine (IOM); patient–centered care,
evidenced based practice, continuous quality improvement, safety, informatics, and teamwork and
collaboration (Cherry & Jacob, 2014). The safety measure is best paralleled with the topic of
communication presented throughout this paper. "Safety is the effort to minimize risk of harm to
patients through system effectiveness and individual performance" (Cherry & Jacob, 2014,

The Problem of Internet Regulation in the U.S. Today

not just here in the United States of America, but also in other countries thanks to social media.

workers' earnings are lost each year due to online piracy and almost 71,000 jobs are lost in the

but one statistic proves otherwise. In the statistics for the highest and lowest piracy rates in 2010, the
United States comes up the very top of the lowest piracy percentage, only accounting for 20% of

The Pros And Cons Of Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment accusations regarding public figures has been one of the most popular news we
see on social media these days. "Sexual harassment becomes a crime only when there is a
nonconsensual touching or sexual contact that can be prosecuted." (Henning, 2017). Some of the
accused individuals are admitting their guilt in some of these situations, while many are denying
these allegations, particularly those that occurred decades ago. In many of the instances, money and
other valuable considerations are being used to get documents signed that swore the party marking
the claim to silence regarding the matter, or pay back the money with interest. This probably
because it is much easier and cheaper to pay someone off than to fight this slander/libel in court.
The most recently talked about news of sexual harassment was about Harvey Weinstein, an
American Film producer and former film executive. At the beginning of October this year, many
women came forward to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape including, by Rose
McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and many others. The humiliated producer had been fired
from his company and Manhattan district attorney is currently seeking indictment against him.
A report from The New Yorker explains that Harvey Weinstein put a lot of effort to silences
accusers, journalists, and reporters. "The former movie executive denies the new accusations and

Women as News Anchors Essay
Women As News Anchors
Women in all careers are striving to gain equality in the work force today, and female television
news anchors are definitely part of the fight. The road to television news anchoring is a rocky one,
where only a few women survive and many fail. Where progress was once thought to have been
made, there aren't many females getting ahead in the world of television news. Today, there is a very
slow, if any, gain in the numbers of women who succeed. There are many questions surrounding the
subject of women in television news, and I will attempt to answer relevant ones in this paper. How
have the women that actually make it to the top and succeed as anchorwomen, done it?

This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of
women in television news. The textbook, Gender, Race and Class in Media had a few chapters
relevant to my paper. Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, "Out of the
Mainstream: Sexual Minorities and Mass Media." He discussed various stereotypes in our society
that lead to stereotypes in all areas of our lives. I found some of my sources from Oasis, and also
used a couple of magazine articles that were relevant to the subject. I focused on the questions that I
wanted to answer and drew points from the material that were relevant and provided substantial
evidence to answer my questions. I found that opinions and thoughts of women who had been
through the business were most helpful. There was one big limitation I faced if I wanted to prove
that women in television news were discriminated upon based on sex and age. Women have been
fired from their anchor positions, and it has seemed that the reasons were because of looks or aging.
But this is hard to prove. In August, Carol
Schrader, a woman anchor from KETV–TV in Omaha, Nebraska was asked to leave.
She said that it was because of her age, although her bosses didn't say that was the reason, stating
that she wasn't doing her job. She was replace by a young, blond woman. Also, when Marlene

an individual. Stress affects the mind, body, and behavior in many ways, and everyone experiences
stress differently. Not only can overwhelming stress lead to serious mental and physical health
problems, it can also take a toll on your relationships at home, work, and school. People stress about
a lot of things such as work, finances, our health, relationships, screaming kids, barking dogs,
marriage, divorce, and so on. With so many sources of stress, it is difficult to find time to relax. This
is why, in my opinion, stress is one of the biggest health problems facing people today. There are
various stress related topics. This paper will describe three of them. What is stress and how does our
body respond to it? What causes stress and what are the social factors of stress? How do people
react to extreme situations, such as natural disasters and to ordinary life events like losing their job?
People under large amounts of stress can become tired, sick, and unable to concentrate or think
clearly. Sometimes, they even suffer mental breakdowns. According to Cockerham, "Embarrassment

Childhood Obesity: A Big Problem Today
Childhood Obesity A big problem America is facing today is obesity. ( Authors of cdc.gov.com,
"Childhood Overweight and Obesity", www.cdc.gov.com, Nov.9, 2015,
http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/childhood/ ,5/18/16) out of every six children in America is obese.
Although the number of overweight children is less than adults, the problem is getting
overwhelming. Many obese kids grow up to be obese adults who can develop medical issues, such
as diabetes and heart disease. (Authors of wedMD.com, "Obesity in Children",www.webMD.com,
n.d., http://www.webmd.com/children/guide/obesity–children, 5/18/16) It's mostly the parents fault
if they're not keeping their young children decently healthy. Some parents believe that schools are
partly to blame for influencing their children's bad habits. It most certainly does not help that junk
food is available at certain schools; but they aren't the one making their eating choices. Children, at
school, make their own choices about what they want to eat at school. Some children might have
obesity issues that run in the family but others just eat unhealthy. Activity and diet are main factors
of a child's weight. In the past couple of years, public policies were put in place to prevent risks of
obesity. A big problem is that too many unhealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It's sad when children are obese because they don't have as much control over their eating choices,
but adults do, they choose what they get from the store and what they put in their bodies. Ages 0–18

school, which is why it's hard to prevent it, parents can't control the food at their child's school.
Even though obesity is not growing as fast as it used to, it is slowly increasing. It will take a long
time to reduce obesity in the United States

The Problem With Homeless Today
Week 7 Assignment:
The Problem with Homeless in America
Equilla Simmons
Boston University
One of the basic human needs is shelter. While many people take having a roof over their head for
granted, there is a plethora of people that have no place to call home. However, America has become
a place where Social Darwinism is vastly accepted, leaving several people that are homeless with
limited resources. "In January 2013, 610,042 people were homeless on a given night. Most (65
percent) were living in emergency shelters or transitional housing programs and 35 percent were
living in unsheltered locations "(Cortes, Morris, & Henry, 2013, p.1). While this is a decrease from
last year in which there were, "633,782 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homelessness has no age limit. "Nearly one–quarter (23 percent or 138,149) of all homeless people
were children, under the age of 18. Ten percent (or 61,541) were between the ages of 18 and 24, and
67 percent (or 410,352) were 25 years or older" (Cortes et al., 2013 p.6).
This shows how the problem affects every cohort and it's sad that children have the highest rate of
homelessness. Many people tend to blame the homeless person for making the wrong decisions in
their youth. However, the youth have the highest rate of homelessness and they haven't even had the
chance to make some of those decisions. 20% of homeless youth are LGBT, mostly due to severe
family conflict
They are the most vulnerable along with older people and "being older increased the risk of
experiencing a violent attack" (Meinbresse et al., 2014). In addition, the veterans that risk their life
for the American system make up a certain percentage of homeless people. According to The
Department of Housing and Urban Development, "there were 57,849 homeless veterans on a single
night in January 2013. Sixty percent were located in shelters or transitional housing programs, and
40 percent were in unsheltered locations. Just under 8 percent (4,456) were female"(Cortes et al.,
2013). Many of them travel to serve and protect and come back to nothing, but the streets. While

Environmental Pollution: What Are The Problems With...
What are the problems with America currently today? One problem we have faced in America is
environmental pollutions. Environmental pollutions are the harmful filth in the air, we breathe
everyday. Perhaps we do not notice them as we breathe. Some filth is seen from a far distance.
Factory filth is the main pollution producer in the USA now.
One environmental pollution are caused by factories because the product they produce causes the
filth out of them. This could be the car production or agricultural production. America produces a lot
of cars for all the people to drive. More cars makes more carbon dioxide (filth) which causes deaths,
health problems and global warming. Perhaps we can switch to a different energy source to power
these vehicles.

Since all of the diseases occur in the CZ one can readily bring them home. If anyone has a suspicion
that he or she may have contracted a sexually transmitted disease, he or she should contact a
physican or venerologist and ask for the examination including an HIV antibody test. He should do
so without a delay to start effective treatment as soon as possible and avoid spread of the disease.
CANCER
Cancer is what happens when the normal cells making up a part of a person's body start to grow
faster than usual, take an odd shape, and stop their part of the body from doing its work.
If the cancer lump is found early enough, it can sometimes be removed by surgical operation or
killed by treatment with X–rays or gamma rays. But if this isn't done soon, stray cells break off from
the cancerous part and float off in the blood to start trouble elsewhere.
Cancer can start in almost every part of the body–the lungs, the kidneys, the stomach, the bones, the
blood or even skin. No one really knowk why it starts but ideas are

Case Study Of Matt Lauer
NEWPORT BEACH– Viewers missing Matt Lauer on the Today Show. With 4.7 million people
waking up to Matt Lauer's face on the sunny Today Show there has been breadcrumbs about his
previous sexual encounters. For some time, America's love affair with the young, handsome news
reporter seemed as if he could do no wrong because we loved who he was. High–profile men like
Matt Lauer must be shocked with women coming out and having any strength. Starting at the
beginning of his journey at NBC news in 2001 he already had a sexual relation with an office
employee. Already at the very beginning of the career Lauer was starting his sexual harassment
reputation. That wasn't the only sexual encounter he has had with employees. In 2014 at the Sochi
Olympics he had inappropriate conduct with another employee, yet another one. Many years later
and he still proceeds to participate in inappropriate sexual behavior with his colleagues. How many
instances does it take before it becomes serious? Lauer proved it wasn't a serious issue in his opinion
when in 2016 Meredith Viera found sex toys in his dressing room that he gave to a woman working
in his office. Having Viera find the sex toy and later having a colleague report about Lauer giving
her a sex toy was proof that it wasn't just for his wife who he has been married to the whole time
working at NBC News. But then again woman have no power so it's okay for men to treat them this
way. For all the attention Matt

A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians
A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully
experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual
disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of
Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a
Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a "portion of heaven." According to Isaac
Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the
vehicles to God. He said: "...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as
bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to
bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so
much taken with them (Schwanda 1)." Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could
experience an intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three
categories, inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are
meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the
main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of
Christ. The first spiritual discipline is meditation. According to WordNet, "meditation is the

Cyberbullying : A Problem Of Today 's Society
Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is a major problem in today's society. The recent increase in cyberbullying has
become so serious; it has become a priority for many citizens to become involved in identifying risk
factors and providing the necessary help.
Cyberbullying is when people, specifically children, are targeted and harassed through social media
and technology. Cyberbullying can happen anytime, day or night, and reach a person even when he
or she is alone. "Messages and images can be posted anonymously and distributed quickly to a wide
audience; it can be difficult and sometimes impossible to trace the source."(Cyberbullying) There
are quite a few signs that may point to a bullying problem and can include: unusual injuries,
difference in clothing or appearance, loss of books, electronics, or jewelry, frequent illness, changes
in appetite; they may no longer be hungry or may be hungry all the time. Victims may come home
hungry because they skipped lunch, there may be a change in sleeping patterns, a sudden drop in
grades, they may no longer be interested in school, or be social with friends. Many people may feel
alone and engage in destructive behaviors including running away, hurting themselves, or talking
about killing themselves or others; and if you are aware of someone in this situation, report it.
Reporting actions like these is a vital step in securing someone's life from being harmed. While
anyone can be targeted for cyberbullying, some may be more of a target

The lack of wastewater treatment in the cities constitutes a major health hazard during periods of

On The Day Everybody Ate: The Problems Facing Haiti Today
The French and their slaves populated the island of Haiti during the 18th century. In the late 1700's,
the slaves revolted against the French and began a thirteen–year war for their freedom. This war
began the significant problems for Haiti. Today, Haiti suffers from malnutrition, low standards of
living, and poor literacy, which Haiti still faces today. One of the most prominent issues that face
Haiti today is hunger. According to the statistics given in the novel On The Day Everybody Ate,
"three–quarters of Haitians live on less than $2 per day... and 56% live on less than $1 per day"
(Trost). This is not enough for a person to substantially sustain himself/herself. The majority goes
hungry. In addition, over a third of the population has no easy access to clean drinking water. Many
Haitians do not know where their next meal is going to come from. They are forced to eat day by
day, eating what they can. According to the Health Development Index, Haiti has the "poorest
standards of living" ("Haiti"). Most live in huts and shelters. Many build on trash heaps, and their
living environments are often highly unsanitary. Many family members live under the same roof in
cramped quarters. They have "the worst health statistics in the ... Show more content on

Positives And Negatives Of Consumerism
Just what is consumerism, and is it beneficial or detrimental to our economy and society? Basically,
consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the
economy to function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that
consumerism is creating a downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also
argued that consumerism is merely a means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society
as a whole. There are flaws in the system of course: pollution, greed, wasted materials; but there are
also benefits to it, such as, the creation of new jobs, the growth of businesses, and even a show of
patriotism. In essence, consumerism is both a positive and a negative force in the modern world,
depending on how it is utilized and portrayed, for example: a person with a positive world value
would best consider balancing out their life so they are neither needlessly consuming nor being a

could be unhygienic or detrimental to their health. (Holt 1–3). A perfect example of a healthy
medium would be being considerate to the fact that consumers have the option to only buy
necessities and the occasional goods and/or services for entertainment or pleasure (Millburn and

slowly rising as the years move on. These kids are learning a very unhealthy lifestyle that if not

believe that the kids' parents should be leading their children in the right direction but the parents

Some people believe that parents should be cooking healthy meals for their kids in order for the kids
to obtain the correct nutrition needed for these kids. While on the other hand, others believe that fast
food is fine because it is much cheaper and much quicker. Children need nutrients the healthy foods

an active life and a life without medical problems relating to their weight and health. Eating healthy
could reduce your risk of getting Type II Diabetes, which is caused by the pancreas producing an
excess amount of insulin. The pancreas can only produce the excess amount for a certain amount of
time. The blood levels with glucose levels being unbalanced results in Type II Diabetes. (Facts about

According to Dudley Devlin writes that high schools education in America has three main problems
public vs. private schools, high stakes tests, and laws forcing students to say the pledge of allegiance

to know about US history but at the same time they need to know about other cultures because the
education is becoming narrower and students becoming less knowledge. For example, instead
students learn about America or Europe history, they need to know about Asia and Africa history. In

Dudley says the courses in universities around the states are focusing about America affect on world

the foreign students according to the stereotype of the country or religion. In addition, the stereotype
is really a big problem that could makes walls between American and foreign students. From
experiences, people judge me because I'm wearing scarf and the stereotype about my religion that
we are terrorism. For example, one of my classmates said for me "I was afraid from you because I
thought you will harm or do something bad for me because you wearing scarf". The media increases
these stereotypes, and American media has a lot about terrorism. However, the education can change
these ideas. If the education gives students information about the other cultures history, and how the
people live there its might help to clear the misunderstanding. What did happen with me makes me

Social Problems Of Education Today
Education today is very important because it is the foundation for everything in life. Influences in a
student's personal life can affect the student's learning ability, for example, if there is something
negative going on in the students' life it may be a distraction from their learning. One of the biggest
issues with education in today's society is social problems. There are many different types of social
problems, but three major problems I will discuss are teen pregnancy, family relationships, and
bullying. Teen pregnancy has a huge impact on students and their education. Life is just so hard for
these young teens because they are still trying to figure out their path. These young men and women
don't get to experience the life they are supposed to be living at the age of 16, 17, and 18 because
they have a baby to take care of. Most of the time, the baby's father is going to walk out of the
picture and this young girl is on her own with maybe a family to support her, but no money for her
and the baby. It's not fair for the baby to have to grow up that way. Teen pregnancy also takes away
from a high school diploma. These young men and women have to drop out of school and put their
education on hold because of their pregnancy. Most of the time these teens don't return to school and
graduate along side of their peers. It is just very difficult for a young teen to not only have a child,
but to raise a child when they are still one themselves. Because teen pregnancy is so

Eating Disorders Are Becoming A Major Problem Today
Eating disorders are becoming a major problem today, with the pressures of society and cultural
images of thinness. Males and Females are facing pressures of meeting these expectations of these
of societal and cultural images. Athletes are no exception. Although participation in sports may help
to improve self–esteem, the pressures of weight and image in sports can add to the cultural and
societal pressures that already exist causing eating disorders in Athletes.
Defining Eating Disorders
In order to discuss athletes and eating disorders, one must first understand what eating disorders are.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, eating disorders are described as, "an illness
that causes serious disturbances to your everyday diet, such as eating extremely small amounts of
food or severely overeating," (Eating Disorders 2011). They also add, "A person with an eating
disorder may have started out just eating smaller or larger amounts of food, but at some point, the
urge to eat less or more spiraled out of control," (Eating Disorders 2011). There are many different
types of eating disorders and factors that lead to them. Bulimia, anorexia nervosa, and binge–eating
are some common types of eating disorders (Eating Disorders 2011). These disorders can be caused
by cultural expectations, societal pressures, coaching and sport expectations, fear of gaining weight,
body shape, etc. Eating disorders effect both men and women and can have serious, life–threatening

The Problems With The Overuse And Overdependence On...
The Problems With the Overuse and Overdependence on Technology Today The ever growing
technology that humans use as a part of their modern day life is a disputable issue. Some individuals
believe that the contribution of technology has made a positive impact on present–day life and
improves the quality of life for people. Others see that the contribution of technology has negatively
impacted modern life and that technology is a power that has gotten out of human control. In today's
world it seems that kids are born with technology in their blood. From the time kids are born they
begin to use and depend on technology. Technology is beginning to dominate school classrooms. It
is taking over people's social relationships with their family, friends, and partners. All of the
different elements of technology are really taking a toll on children 's, as well as adult's, mental
health and the function of their brains. A small amount of technology use for legitimate reasons is
healthy, but it is easy to overdo it. "The average American spends about 10 hours and 45 minutes
plugged in per day" (Dodgen–Magee) An individual 's overuse and/or overdependence on
technology is damaging to individuals, families, and societies. Children are becoming hooked on
technology from a very young age. Parents begin to use technology such as television as
entertainment for their children as soon as they can focus on it. "On average, children from birth to
23 months old are watching 55 minutes

Today 's Society Is Loaded With Problems
Today's society is loaded with problems. If you watch the evening news, it becomes crystal clear
that people do not care about morals or integrity. Politicians lie, cheat, and steal from others, hate–
filled people attack and slander those whom they dislike, and people in general lack compassion and
concern for others. In such a sad state of affairs, another reason we need Christianity arises: to teach
people how to behave. In Christianity, there are certain attitudes and behaviors that are either
acceptable or unacceptable. Its adherents must live according to the acceptable ones and avoid the
unacceptable ones. As we previously discussed, the Bible's accuracy can be proven by the
commandments which it teaches. This is because certain activities, such as love and kindness, are
beneficial for all people, while other activities, such as hate and lying, are universally harmful. In
addition to these things, the Bible also teaches people how to behave in their personal, social, civil,
and family lives. In this series of articles, we will discuss these points to see why people need
Christianity in their lives today.
1. It teaches people integrity (honesty, kindness, and humility–personal life) One of Christianity's
major selling points is that its adherents are to possess integrity. Integrity is essentially dedication to
moral living. For example, if a Christian finds a $20 bill on the ground, he will not put it in his or
her wallet; he or she will seek to return it. The same

Tackling Environmental Problems Today Is More Difficult

  • 1. Tackling Environmental Problems Today Is More Difficult With the world forever changing politicians are chosen by the populace to make decisions based on the needs of the people. Current political gridlock in this nation has made it extremely difficult to pass legislation pertain to the economy, workforce and health. While these items are discussed daily by political pundits one issue that equally important is usually placed on the backburner due to political posturing the health of the planet. "Tackling environmental problems today is more difficult because the nature of the "problems" has changed: where such problems were once primarily scientific and technocratic in nature, they are now almost exclusively problems of politics". (Turin) This posturing has become a major issue for society and could lead to dire consequences in the future. It is time for us to come together and address the issues of political influence, in order for us to have a meaningful conversation we must discussion the influence of special interest groups, understand how politicians manipulate and use false authority to push agendas and also discover the importance of citizen involvement. Lobbyists for special interest are hired to attempt "to try to convince congressional committee members to act in their favor on issues that were important to them". (Wright, 45) This tactic is used on the state, local and federal levels of government, while not all lobbyist fight for causes that maybe harmful to the environment. Some special interest groups are designed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Ecological Problems Facing United States Today There are many ecological problems facing us in the United States today. Among those issues includes global warming, our dependence on fossil fuel, saving our endangered wildlife, and ensuring that we have safe and sufficient water. There is one environmental issue, however, that streams across all these areas, and threatens the safety of our country, and of many bodies of water all over the world, and that is the issue of Oil Spills. An oil spill can be defined as, "an unintentional release of crude oil or refined oil products into the environment." Oil spills are considered to be a major source of chemical pollution. Most of these spills occur through human error, however, there are cases where oil seeps through deposits under the ocean floor. These spills can occur on land, in the ocean, and even when oil is spilled down storm drains that lead directly into lakes and rivers. Not only do oil spills threaten to destroy our ecosystem and endanger our wildlife, oil spills can be harmful to human beings as well. The reason that this is so stems from the fact that oil itself is considered to be "semi–volatile." This means that it can evaporate into the air and create a heavy vapor which lingers and can be breathed in by humans, and can travel deeply into people's lungs. This can in turn cause many health issues such as nausea, vomiting, headaches, and even difficulty breathing. Over an even longer period of time, the chemicals that are found in oil, and that are evaporated into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Problems In Scotland Today Muslims face many problems in Scotland today. One problem is that many people see Muslims as a threat because of recent terrorist attacks and, though some do not say anything in particular, there is an air of distrust when a Muslim is present. Another problem is that many Muslims also face racial abuse, but the main victims are women because they wear items of clothing that are easily identified as being Muslim, such as Hijabs and Burkas. Another problem that a report found is that 21% of Scottish people would object to a Muslim teacher, teaching their children, compared to 4% if the teacher was Asian. Also a problem is the fact that many Scottish people think that Scotland would lose it's identity if more Muslims came to the country, despite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Gender Inequality In The Media Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across our television screens, constantly crop up in our daily conversations, and dominate the news and media. But wait, there's something missing from the list of names above– a group constituting nearly 51% of our population– women("Women's Health USA 2012."). Scarce are mentions of successful female journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most– in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn't hit me until recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the media defies not only our principles, but also the nation's principles. How can we claim that we are a nation of equal opportunity if we don't practice what we preach? We must encourage women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between the sexes. The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects– the shunning of women into petty, less important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in leadership in media. According to a report on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Women 's Rights Are Still A Problem Today Women's rights are still a problem today. Not necessarily rights but how they are treated and how sexist some people are. I personally don't like how some of the men treat women. They don't think women can do things for themselves, if we try to be equal or have the same kind of job they discriminate them, because they think men should be in charge and be the leader. Although the campaign for women's suffrage started before the civil war you can see how long it took them to get what they wanted. With all the other 'non–equal' events going on all sorts of reform groups were proliferating across the United States–temperance clubs, religious movements and moral–reform societies, anti–slavery organizations–and in many of these, women played a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They wanted to be equal to men. If they were made to be equal why aren't we treated like it. The women wanted to have equal rights and responsibilities and also be able to vote. Two other women had an effect on this lady strike, Alice Paul and Carrie Chapman Catt. Carrie was president of the NAWSA but resigned because of the military direct–action tactic while Alice organized the National Woman 's Party. The United States wasn't the only place fighting for women's right to vote. Great Britain, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Finland, and Norway. I'm sure there were many others because this was kind of a big deal. From the places that started people talking about women's suffrage and getting to be able to vote, it quickly spread throughout the world and suddenly a lot of women wanted to be able to vote. I mean it makes sense or else I wouldn't be talking about women suffrage and how it got passed. The United Nations Convention on the Political Rights of Women, adopted in 1952, provides that "women shall be entitled to vote in all elections on equal terms with men, without any discrimination." On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment granted the ballot to American women ending women 's suffrage. Over time it has gotten better but the working conditions for women used to be pretty bad. • 11. The Censorship Of Singapore ( Mda ) The practise of censorship – the restriction of ideas, action or image through the control of the media or any other medium of expression. Censorship should be practised sensibly so that it will not restrict the development and expression of new ideas while ensuring that social and political harmony is assured. Censorship plays a vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and creating an economically dynamic, socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. (N.A, N.D) The press exert a significant influence on the public and is partly responsible for the views and values that many hold. Hence, it should be responsible with what it put forth to the public. Singapore has gradually moved from film censorship to film classification and now to the focus on media literacy. Media Authority of Singapore (MDA) plays a significant role in regulating and conducting matters pertaining to the media. It is guided by legislation/acts such as Media Development Authority of Singapore Act, code of practice and guideline to comply and enforce the entities. In this term paper, we will discuss how the media handle censorship and classification related matters as well as reviewing the Films Appeal Committee under the films act policy. In this regard, recommendations will also be given on how to improve the clause. The media environment has undergone major changes, driven largely by the forces of technology, media convergence and globalisation. (Media Development Authority, 2014) As ... • 13. Social Problem Of India Today Essay India is a very fast developing country in the world, one of the fastest. India also has the fastest growing economy in the world (Beck). But at the same time there are several problems yet today in Modern India which is affecting the development and growth of the country. The social problems in India today have their roots in the diversity of religion, language, and culture. There were many people to have huge attachment to one's region, language, religion and when these attachments grow to an crazy extreme level they create intolerance for other religions, languages, problems are bound to rise. So many cases of tragedy such as peaceful protests, riots and poverty has shaped the outcome of what India has become today. "An eye for an eye makes everybody blind" summarizes Gandhi's view of violence. Gandhi did not believe in violence as a technique of achieving his goal of an independent India. He taught non–violent non effort to create for the people of India. When Gandhi was arrested many times and put to prison, his followers were tempted to fight back to British authorities. Gandhi fasted until he convinced his followers to stop fighting so that he would eat again. After that Gandhi thought the British authorities would free the indian people as they wanted to be. Gandhi was wrong. Brigadier General Dyer ordered his soldiers to open fire open field of people. Killing thousands of women children and men. • 15. How Racism Became A Problem Today Jae Xiong How Racism Became a Problem Today Racism is a deeply ingrained problem in our social systems. Even though we publicly denounce racism, it still continues to be an issue in our everyday lives. We choose to be ignorant of racism 's influence until we see people affected by it on the news or in person. Even then, rarely do we choose to act upon what we see. The United States may have come a long way to completing Martin Luther King Jr 's dream, but our biases are still a prominent issue today. In this country every race and every gender has a say in the government. The Emancipation proclamation and abolishing segregation are only a few of the many steps toward a truly equal country. America has made great strides to gain racial equality, but we still hold racial prejudice and negative stereotypes. Because of our previous racist past, we often associate a person 's outward appearance with their personality and character. For example we assume all Asians are smart, all black people are criminals, and all Hispanics are great soccer players. We have assimilated other races in to our government and our popular culture, however we still show our racial biases by socially segregating their abilities and potential. This is the cause for our blatantly racial crisis such as the George Zimmerman case and the riots in Baltimore. As a whole, America 's prejudice has significantly decreased over time, but racial biases in our past makes it hard to eradicate these negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Problem With Today 's Police Is there really a problem with today 's police? When the U.S. retreated back several years ago from waging constant battles in Iraq and Afghanistan, the mindset of war continues to remain unchanged. The current administration now hands out military surplus gear left and right, gearing local police officers to wage war in the neighborhood of America 's residents. Officers looked ready to fight a war, when donning their new police uniforms with a discreet black or camouflage pattern along with the latest and greatest military advancements in weapons and tactics. The level of tactical superiority provides only short term relief to the situation, but on the contrary creates a significant amount of long term problems in deteriorating public support of police. Through the public support of ending the 1033 program, change the culture of the police, and the need of community centered training. These steps guarantee the disseverment of police militarization due to the duty of the citizen to take the law into their own hand and account. The major solution in solving the case of police militarization deals directly with the current mindset of the citizen. The need for ending the 1033 program, which grants police department numerous military grade equipment from transportation vehicle, camouflage clothing, and firearms. There calls for public support for the matter in ending the program and returning the equipment to the state and recycle the material for different uses. The removal of ... • 19. The Problems that Our World Faces Today Essay The Problems that Our World Faces Today The earth is considered as one of the most beautiful planets in the universe. It is the only planet in our galaxy that has enough water to support life. Unfortunately our planet is suffering due to many problems which should be solved before it is too late. The major problems that are facing our world today are population, pollution and animal extinction. One of the problems facing our world is population. It began about ten thousand years ago when the humans settled and began farming. The farming provides more food for the people thus making the population grow. Now we are about 6 billion in population and in a few years we will be around 10 to 11 billion. Therefore, our population will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pollution is another major factor that is threatening our world today. One example of pollution is nitrogen. Humans are adding about 130 to 150 million tons over the 90 to 150 tons that are produced by the nitrogen cycle. This excess in nitrogen causes coastal waters and estuaries to grow toxic algae, killing the fish and trapping the solar heat in the air. Another example of pollution is methane. Methane is produced by gases released by cows, termite mounds or by the bottom of rice paddy. If found in the air methane is very poisonous. By raising more cattle, cutting more tropical forests, thus increasing the amount of termites, and by growing more rice, the methane concentration in the air is almost twice as higher as it was 160,000 years ago. Smoke is another pollution factor. Smoke that is produced by cars contains carbon dioxide (CO2). This carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which results in the green house effect and climate changes. Satellite studies show that perhaps we will increase the temperature by 3.6 degrees by the year 2001. The warmer the weather the more water it can hold, the higher the precipitation will be. The higher the precipitation the more clouds, the more rain, and the more snow there will be. This will result in more storms and floods. Studies by Thomas Karl of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration showed that the total winter precipitation in the US has increased to about 10% since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Situation Analysis : The Nation 's Newspaper Situation Analysis USA Today, subtitled "The Nation's Newspaper", debuted in 1982 as America's first national general– interest newspaper. The creator, Allen H. Neuharth, until 1989 was the Chairman of Gannett Co., Inc., a diversified international news, information, and communications company which is now worth $4.7 billion. USA Today achieved rapid success due to its innovative format. No other media source had considered a national newspaper written in shorter pieces and sprinkled with eye–catching, colorful photos, graphs and charts. Readers found USA Today's refreshing and more engaging than other papers. The newspaper grew from roughly 350,000 readers in 1982 to approximately 5.9 million daily print and online readers today. USA Today is still to this day the number one print newspaper and their websites manages to stay one of the Internet's most popular sites for news and information. Unfortunately, today, the paper faces unprecedented competition from a variety of sources at a time when more and more Americans, especially younger people, are turning away from printed news. That shift has affected the company financially as well. USA Today and other newspapers have struggled with falling revenues and increased costs for several years. Both print and online advertising revenues have been falling steadily, declining by over 51 percent since 2005. Classified advertising has been hit particularly hard, declining by over 71 percent in just six years, most likely due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Health Reporting Has Significant Public Health Implications "Health reporting has significant public health implications" (Tang & Peng, 2015, p. 187). Media usage through radio, film, television or print, is a resourceful and valuable method to communicate health awareness and health promotion (Mason, Gardner, Outlaw & O'Grady, 2014). Newspapers are a valuable form of communication as 75% of American adults report newspaper utilization as a source for health information (Tang & Peng, 2015). Although effective on many accounts, this form of print media has its disadvantages as national newspapers are intended to reach a wide audience and does not necessarily reach the target population, such as the rural setting (Mason et al., 2013). Such is the case as with this assignment. Elizabeth City is the largest city in northeastern North Carolina, and national papers are not routinely delivered to households or larger businesses, such as the hospital. In order to physically locate a national paper, a trip was necessary to the local coffee shop, and the only national paper available was USA Today. USA Today does not have a designated health section; however, on the bottom right of page 3A of the September 1, 2016, edition, the first health article was featured, written by Liz Szabo. Liz Szabo has been a medical reporter since 2004 and has reported on cancer, heart disease, pediatrics, women 's health, public health and infectious disease, including AIDS (USA Today, 2016). Between this current quarter and the last, I pushed myself beyond limits on another section of the Appalachian Trail. On the morning of day number 3 out of 6, I snapped a selfie of myself as I crested a ridge line on a bald (treeless ridge line with unlimited views). The photo was unique and looked manipulated with a filter due to the glare from the sunrise burning through thin patches of fog spilling over the ridge as if the mountain was an airfoil. That photo is now my Facebook profile picture and titled, "Nothing artificial." I have always pushed myself to be true and authentic in all I do. That does not mean being perfect, it means being honest with myself. Unfortunately, this strength of authenticity (i.e., the VIA strength of honesty is further defined as being authentic with integrity) facilitates a mindset that does not tolerate others who are not. One of my other strengths (as tested in a spiritual gifts test) is discernment. I can usually tell when someone is not being authentic. I strive to be authentic and I expect the same from others if they want me to trust them. The news is full of stories of a lack thereof in this strength of being authentic. Yesterday, Matt Lauer was fired from NBC for misconduct outside the scope of this discussion. He most likely had been posing for years. • 31. Lack of Communication Is the Biggest Problem in Healthcare... Problem Statement & Introduction One of the major problems in healthcare today is the ineffective communication among hospital personnel, patients and their families, and the effect it has on patient safety. Communication, as a whole, is very complex and is the root of teamwork and collaboration which aids in keeping patients safe in the hospital. Throughout the healthcare field today patient– centered care and patient safety seem to be major focus points. Unfortunately, ineffective communication can potentially cause patient harm and even death. The breech in ineffective communication between hospital staff and family was clearly portrayed in the story of Lewis Blackman. The lack of both communication, not just verbally but through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the multiple days Lewis was in the hospital a series of symptoms developed and he was misdiagnosed by doctors twice. Many staff members from the healthcare team came in and out of Lewis's room without properly identifying themselves to Lewis or his family (Haskell, 2009). As portrayed in Appendix 1, all of these safety mishaps during Lewis's stay led to a decrease in patient and family satisfaction. Also, patient–centered care seems to have almost not even existed in Lewis's story which affected his safety. Purpose Statement The purpose of this paper is to discuss how lack of communication is the root cause in a patient's demise. The author will argue that poor collaboration of doctors and nurses, overall satisfaction, and patient–centered care collectively affect patient safety. This paper will enunciate the primary causes that were detected and propose a solution to further enhance the safety and well–being of patients. Quality Measure There are six quality and safety measures as defined by the Institute of medicine (IOM); patient–centered care, evidenced based practice, continuous quality improvement, safety, informatics, and teamwork and collaboration (Cherry & Jacob, 2014). The safety measure is best paralleled with the topic of communication presented throughout this paper. "Sexual harassment becomes a crime only when there is a nonconsensual touching or sexual contact that can be prosecuted." (Henning, 2017). Some of the accused individuals are admitting their guilt in some of these situations, while many are denying these allegations, particularly those that occurred decades ago. In many of the instances, money and other valuable considerations are being used to get documents signed that swore the party marking the claim to silence regarding the matter, or pay back the money with interest. This probably because it is much easier and cheaper to pay someone off than to fight this slander/libel in court. The most recently talked about news of sexual harassment was about Harvey Weinstein, an American Film producer and former film executive. At the beginning of October this year, many women came forward to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape including, by Rose McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and many others. The humiliated producer had been fired from his company and Manhattan district attorney is currently seeking indictment against him. The road to television news anchoring is a rocky one, where only a few women survive and many fail. Where progress was once thought to have been made, there aren't many females getting ahead in the world of television news. Today, there is a very slow, if any, gain in the numbers of women who succeed. This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of women in television news. The textbook, Gender, Race and Class in Media had a few chapters relevant to my paper. Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, "Out of the Mainstream: Sexual Minorities and Mass Media." He discussed various stereotypes in our society that lead to stereotypes in all areas of our lives. I found some of my sources from Oasis, and also used a couple of magazine articles that were relevant to the subject. I focused on the questions that I wanted to answer and drew points from the material that were relevant and provided substantial evidence to answer my questions. I found that opinions and thoughts of women who had been through the business were most helpful. There was one big limitation I faced if I wanted to prove that women in television news were discriminated upon based on sex and age. Women have been fired from their anchor positions, and it has seemed that the reasons were because of looks or aging. But this is hard to prove. In August, Carol Schrader, a woman anchor from KETV–TV in Omaha, Nebraska was asked to leave. Illness of any kind disrupts routines and interferes with day–to–day functions, all of which stresses an individual. There are various stress related topics. This paper will describe three of them. What is stress and how does our body respond to it? What causes stress and what are the social factors of stress? How do people react to extreme situations, such as natural disasters and to ordinary life events like losing their job? It most certainly does not help that junk food is available at certain schools; but they aren't the one making their eating choices. Children, at school, make their own choices about what they want to eat at school. Some children might have obesity issues that run in the family but others just eat unhealthy. • 54. A Common Problem Today For Adolescent Christians A common problem today for adolescent Christians is the lack of intimacy with God, and not fully experiencing Christ in their lives. The solution to this problem can be found in the spiritual disciplines. Spiritual disciplines are practices that aid in transforming believers into the image of Christ, and help them to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. They help to bring a Christian into the presence of God, and to bring them a "portion of heaven." According to Isaac Ambrose, an English Puritan minister from the seventeenth century, spiritual disciplines are the vehicles to God. He said: "...the saints look upon duties (the Word, Sacraments, Prayers, etc.) as bridges to give them a passage to God, as boats to carry them into the bosom of Christ, as means to bring them into more intimate communion with their heavenly Father, and therefore are they so much taken with them (Schwanda 1)." Ambrose argued that through spiritual disciplines, one could experience an intimate relationship with God. The spiritual disciplines are broken into three categories, inward, outward, and corporate. From these three categories, the three main focuses are meditation, service, and worship. Through the application of these three spiritual disciplines, the main goal is to enter a deeper, more intimate relation with Christ and to be shaped into the image of Christ. Basically, consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the economy to function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that consumerism is creating a downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also argued that consumerism is merely a means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society as a whole. Essay on Problems with American Education Today According to Dudley Devlin writes that high schools education in America has three main problems public vs. private schools, high stakes tests, and laws forcing students to say the pledge of allegiance and take a course in U.S patriotism. In first paragraph, he explained that high school students need to know about US history but at the same time they need to know about other cultures because the education is becoming narrower and students becoming less knowledge. For example, instead students learn about America or Europe history, they need to know about Asia and Africa history. In addition Professor Martha support his idea about the international education. Also, universities around the states have courses about America's place in the ... From this experience that I had, makes me I agree with author to enhance students global knowledge. The author idea was to change education system in high schools to be more open about other cultures than just focus in America culture. Second, issue is the courses in the states university. Dudley says the courses in universities around the states are focusing about America affect on world not about other cultures. The affect of this courses in my opinion, is American students often treated the foreign students according to the stereotype of the country or religion. In addition, the stereotype is really a big problem that could makes walls between American and foreign students. From experiences, people judge me because I'm wearing scarf and the stereotype about my religion that we are terrorism. For example, one of my classmates said for me "I was afraid from you because I thought you will harm or do something bad for me because you wearing scarf". The media increases these stereotypes, and American media has a lot about terrorism. However, the education can change these ideas. If the education gives students information about the other cultures history, and how the people live there its might help to clear the misunderstanding. What did happen with me makes me feel sad because some people still have this idea about my religion even there are American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Social Problems Of Education Today Education today is very important because it is the foundation for everything in life. Influences in a student's personal life can affect the student's learning ability, for example, if there is something negative going on in the students' life it may be a distraction from their learning. One of the biggest issues with education in today's society is social problems. There are many different types of social problems, but three major problems I will discuss are teen pregnancy, family relationships, and bullying. Teen pregnancy has a huge impact on students and their education. Life is just so hard for these young teens because they are still trying to figure out their path. These young men and women don't get to experience the life they are supposed to be living at the age of 16, 17, and 18 because they have a baby to take care of. Most of the time, the baby's father is going to walk out of the picture and this young girl is on her own with maybe a family to support her, but no money for her and the baby. It's not fair for the baby to have to grow up that way. Teen pregnancy also takes away from a high school diploma. These young men and women have to drop out of school and put their education on hold because of their pregnancy. Most of the time these teens don't return to school and graduate along side of their peers. It is just very difficult for a young teen to not only have a child, but to raise a child when they are still one themselves. Because teen pregnancy is so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Problems With the Overuse and Overdependence on Technology Today The ever growing technology that humans use as a part of their modern day life is a disputable issue. Some individuals believe that the contribution of technology has made a positive impact on present–day life and improves the quality of life for people. Others see that the contribution of technology has negatively impacted modern life and that technology is a power that has gotten out of human control. In today's world it seems that kids are born with technology in their blood. From the time kids are born they begin to use and depend on technology. Technology is beginning to dominate school classrooms. It is taking over people's social relationships with their family, friends, and partners. All of the different elements of technology are really taking a toll on children 's, as well as adult's, mental health and the function of their brains. A small amount of technology use for legitimate reasons is healthy, but it is easy to overdo it. "The average American spends about 10 hours and 45 minutes plugged in per day" (Dodgen–Magee) An individual 's overuse and/or overdependence on technology is damaging to individuals, families, and societies. Children are becoming hooked on technology from a very young age. Parents begin to use technology such as television as entertainment for their children as soon as they can focus on it. • 78. Today 's Society Is Loaded With Problems Today's society is loaded with problems. If you watch the evening news, it becomes crystal clear that people do not care about morals or integrity. Politicians lie, cheat, and steal from others, hate– filled people attack and slander those whom they dislike, and people in general lack compassion and concern for others. In such a sad state of affairs, another reason we need Christianity arises: to teach people how to behave. In Christianity, there are certain attitudes and behaviors that are either acceptable or unacceptable. Its adherents must live according to the acceptable ones and avoid the unacceptable ones. As we previously discussed, the Bible's accuracy can be proven by the commandments which it teaches. This is because certain activities, such as love and kindness, are beneficial for all people, while other activities, such as hate and lying, are universally harmful. In addition to these things, the Bible also teaches people how to behave in their personal, social, civil, and family lives. In this series of articles, we will discuss these points to see why people need Christianity in their lives today. 1. It teaches people integrity (honesty, kindness, and humility–personal life) One of Christianity's major selling points is that its adherents are to possess integrity. Integrity is essentially dedication to moral living. For example, if a Christian finds a $20 bill on the ground, he will not put it in his or her wallet; he or she will seek to return it.
