A Reason to Celebrate!
Stan and Pauline Marsters of Tailors Lane Maghull recently celebrated 50 years of happy
marriage with a wonderful BBQ surrounded by family and friends! The couple requested that no
presents be bought for them, but that a donation to “Southport, Formby and Ormskirk Children’s
Diabetic Club” would be greatly appreciated.
The club, also known as the “Lancelots”, have been a great support to their granddaughter Lydia
and her Mum and Dad since being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 5 years ago. A fantastic £785
was raised and will go toward equipment and support for children diagnosed with Diabetes type 1.
We, as a club, would like to thank Stan and Pauline for their very generous donation and the
hospitality they afforded us when we went to collect the donation. Thank you.
Chorley
Wow there was a great turn out from our group who in turn were very pleased with the ‘freebies’
that we received from the various representatives of company’s. The day was also educational; I
know I came away a little wiser regarding diet and diabetes. We had free samples of meters and
for those with Coeliacs there were also free samples of gluten free food.
Thank you to all the company’s that attended.

2. Park Pool
A great time was had at our ‘Fun Swim’ there was a giant inflatable and afterwards lots of
snacks for the children after all that exercise. Many thanks to Helen, who organised the
snacks.
Please order and pay for your tickets for the Christmas Party, £2.50 entrance (under 5’s &
child with diabetes free) as we need to know numbers for catering purposes.
If anyone has any raffle prizes for the Christmas party please contact one of the committee
members.

BONUS BALL
Thank you for your patience whilst we were waiting on Diabetes
UK changing over the paperwork to the new committee. Cheques have now been sent
out and it should be business as usual from now on. There are at least six numbers
going spare if anyone would like a number please contact a member of the committee.
