lems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead
to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibril-
lation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and
women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests
and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90

Psalm 139:7-10
Summer is here, but we are still experiencing the wet stormy weather of spring. It just seems like we have been
stuck in a pattern of extreme weather for many months now. We’ve had too much cold, too much heat, too
much snow, too much wind and too much rain. But summer is here…time for the weather to moderate and for
vacation season to begin.
It is so good to get away from the same routine and get away for a few days. I love to travel and visit new plac-
es. I know many of you enjoy camping throughout the summer months. For others joy is found in tending your
vegetable and flowers gardens. Whatever we do we want to get out of the confines of our homes and enjoy the
beauty of God’s creation.
As we travel we have the promise that God is never far from us. Whether in our back yards or across oceans
God is our constant companion. He shares our thoughts, laughs with us in our delights, and cries with us in our
sorrows and pains. We can’t hide from God, run away from God, or get lost from God… God is with us. What
more could we ask for? The Holy, Creator God of the universe loves us so much that He never leaves us to our
own devices but constantly abides and watches over us. God’s love is never separated from us. His grace
abounds to us no matter where we are. So this summer as you travel to the local ice cream establishment or
across the world remember God’s hand will guide us and his strength will support us.
Have a great summer!
Pastor Carolyn

“Shine” was the theme of Youth Annual Conference,
held June 12-14 at Lakeside. The weekend was
based on Jeremiah 1:6-8, which says, “Alas, sover-
eign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak. I am
too young. But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not say, I
am too young.” “you must go to everyone I send you
to go and say whatever I command you. Do not be
afraid of them. For I am with you and will rescue
you.’” The weekend included Christian comedian
Bone Hampton, “splat artist” Marc Eckel, music by
Everfound, guest preacher Rev. Beth Wilterdink,
business meetings, reports, district gathering and
worship. There was a carnival to benefit youth Ser-
vice Fund. Zac led a 3 on 3 basketball team and Ste-
ven led a 3v3 Futbul soccer team as part of the YSF
tournaments. The Tuscarawas District Youth won
the YSF coin challenge with 353 lbs of coins! The
next closest District was 50 lbs.! Thank you to Ep-
worth for your contributions! Thank you to Bruce
Lockwood for being with us at YAC again this year!
FISHTANK is held every Thursday during the sum-
mer from 7-9:30 p.m. All Youth grades 7-12 are
welcome to come! We sometimes have older “kids,”
or young adults, who drop in, and that’s okay too! It
is a time for fellowship, fun and growing closer to
each other and to God. The last Thursday gathering
will be August 27. We will go back to Wednesdays
on September 9.
The Reach Out group from Lakeside will again be
with us on Tuesday, July 14. they will work at Can-
ton Calvary Mission during the day and come to Ep-
worth for dinner and to sleep. We like to offer them
showers before dinner, so we are looking for
“shower hosts.” If you can pick up 2 or 3 Reach Out
campers at 4:30 at the church, take them to your
home for a quick shower, and then return them to
the church by 6:15, please let us know. Youth will
help to provide the meal and have a time of fellow-
ship with the group.
The Youth will also help with VBS July 19-23, the
Calvary Mission “Run/Walk and Car Show” July 18
and the Calvary Mission Birthday Party on
August 12.
