The Two Theorists Of Working With Others
Learning as a group consisted of working with others but also figuring out how to work with others. A person needs to figure out the strengths and
weaknesses of their group to properly understand how to function efficiently in a group. If the members in the group are not able to work together
and argue for the majority of the time, no work will get done. I had the luxury of having to deal with this task of having to discover which methods
would work in order to work with others well and efficiently make a quality film. From past experiences, I have learned that groups work together
well when everyone is on the same page. No one is confused and rarely questioning other people's ideas. Also when communicating ideas, it is
helpful to have everyone brainstorm. With everyone brainstorming about possible themes or ideas directed towards the project, it makes everyone feel
involved in the process of completing the project and no one is left out. In reading different theorists, my ideas about how to work in groups was
altered. The two theorists in which I studied and learned from were Knud Illeris and Etienne Wenger. Illeris' theory emphasized that people that were
learning had different backgrounds that affected their ability to learn. Illeris developed a chart in which the Basis, Internal Conditions, External
Conditions all determined how people learned and how they applied the knowledge that they had. The Basis consists of the biology, psychology, and
social science of the

The first three we had looked at was the Phenakistoscope, Praxinoscope and the Thaumatrope. Viktor demonstrated all three methods which was
fascinating. These popular devices were inspired in the nineteenth century by Peter Mark Roget's theory of visual persistence, which held that our
eyes retain an image for a fraction of a second, permitting a series of still images to become "fused" as a moving image.
Another way to break down movements into a series of still pictures is a so called "video flipbook". A flipbook is the simplest way of making a
sequence of still pictures appears to move. The intervals of darkness necessary for the illusion of motion are provided by the turn, or flip of each page.
The nineteenth–century photographic experiments of Eadweard Muybridge and Etienne–Jules Marey broke down the movements of animals into a
series of still pictures. When displayed in rapid succession, these pictures appear to be moving, recreating the original motion that the images document.
Moving further in the exhibition, we looked at Brooklyn–based artist Gregory Barsamian's kinetic sculptures animate three–dimensional objects in real
time. He called it "Feral Fount" which is a physical representation of a dream he had in which drops of water from his kitchen faucet transformed into
a bomb, and then a paper airplane before crashing into his dishpan. The artwork is a stroboscopic zoetrope made up of

The Philosophy Of Knowing And Learning
Knowing and learning can be interpreted in many different ways, but my philosophy of knowing and learning is based on my understanding through
the personal experience in the tutoring situation. As a Tutor for students who were 9 years old, majority of the time was spent reading to develop their
English. An aspect that impacted the students' learning progress tremendously was the tutor's responsibility to understand the student's capability, needs
and interest to support their learning progress. When tutoring the students, there were some theories that were appropriate to aid the students' in
reading and influenced the tutor's techniques employed to support the students' learning. The philosophers that influenced my tutoring techniques were
Etienne Wenger, Jerome Bruner,Albert Bandura, Ivan Pavlov, Burrhus Frederic Skinner, Jean Lave, Wolfgang Kohler andLev Vygotsky. Wenger's
social theory believed that adding meaning and interest into an activity encourages learning (Lave & Wenger,1991). The Gestalt Approach influenced
Kohler's idea where the student would need to know the basic elements before being able to learn and acquire more knowledge (Phillips & Soltis,
2009). To build up new ideas from the initial basic elements, Scaffolding by Bruner and Modelling by Bandura were the two learning strategies
utilized to support the student's learning (Nalliah & Idris, 2014). The student is made aware that the new acquired skill or knowledge taught by

Adult Basic Education and Implications of Digital Literacy...
Adult basic education or ABE is a complicated area given that there are varying definitions of the words the title contain. Theorists, practitioners and
learners can give differing accounts of what it means to be an adult learner, what constitutes basic education and how to facilitate said education. In
practice, the area of ABE describes a whole range of programs that deliver a baseline or basic set of skills that all adults are expected to have acquired
during compulsory education (ABE, 2013). According to Jacobson (2012), there is now an increasing availability of digital technology resources for
education that are beginning to be applied to adult basic education settings. The presences of these technologies are undoubtedly ... Show more content

These technologies also have implications for teacher professional development along the same community of practice model. A CoP developed in an
online environment known as an OCoP (Harasim, 2012), allow teachers and administrators the forum to discuss and develop best practices that support
teachers in the development of instruction that in turn support learners in the exploration of digital literacies and content knowledge. An OCoP also
takes advantage of and promotes understanding within the teacher's practice of the usage requirements of digital technologies within the design and
development of curriculum for content knowledge, computational and language literacy skills as their own professional development is designed
within the digital environment (Hawkes and Pauli, 2010). Additionally, the development of an OCoP, perhaps as a website or wiki application removes
the boundaries of time and place and increases the efficacy and accessibility of information dissemination and support activities. Affordances of Digital
Technologies
Online learning and distance education technologies have been of keen interest to the adult basic education community for better than 15 years, as it
solves the problem of lack of capacity. The last National Assessment of Adult Literacies reported 93 million adults have reading, math and/or English

To build an understanding of how communities of practice create organizational value, we suggest thinking of a community as an engine for the
development of social capital. We argue that the social capital resident in communities of practice leads to behavioral changes, which in turn positively
influence business performance. We identify four specific performance outcomes associated with the communities of practice we studied and link these
outcomes to the basic dimensions of social capital. These dimensions include connections among practitioners who may or may not be co–located;
relationships that build a sense of trust and mutual obligation, and a common language and context that can be shared by community members. Our
conclusions are based on a study of seven organizations where communities of practice are acknowledged to be creating value.
Communities of practice and
Knowledge management
Wasko and Faraj (2000) describe three kinds of knowledge: "knowledge as object", "knowledge embedded within individuals", and "knowledge
embedded in a community". Communities of Practice have become associated with finding, sharing, transferring, and archiving knowledge, as well as
making explicit "expertise", or tacit knowledge. Tacit knowledge is considered to be those valuable context–based experiences that cannot easily be
captured, codified and stored (Davenport & Prusak

Beyond the No.5: The life of the legend Coco Essay
Envision your most implausible and outrageous wish to come true. Coco Chanel didn't simply make her fantasies come alive. This woman single
handedly revolutionized and transmuted the fashion industry. Epitomizing her own words, "In order to be irreplaceable one must be different", Chanel
eradicated her opponents with her bold and unique ideas. From modest beginnings to affluent ends, it's undeniable that fashion icon Coco Chanel has
fabricated the very principles of our Fashion Industry today and created an everlasting legacy for eras to come.
In the quaint countryside of Saumur, France on August 19th, 1883 Gabrielle Chanel was born. Through her first years of her life, Coco found

Without a shred of doubt, Gabrielle looked to these confident women in the novellas as her role models. Taking the initiative of these characters,
Gabrielle took her first step towards moving on to the next chapter in her life by leaving the monastery where she was raised. As her first job(s), she
worked as a seamstress and shop assistant by day and a music–hall performer by night. It was at this music hall where she gained her lifetime
nickname, Coco, from a popular song that she often performed at the hall.
In her future years, Chanel became known for her highly publicized relationships with prominent men. Within the hours of labor, Coco charmed many
men, one of which happened to be the wealthy army officer, Etienne Balsan. Balsan was captivated by Coco and her charismatic qualities. Soon
enough, he asked her to live with him in his grand, vacuous manor. Upon being thrown into the lavish lifestyle of France's elite, Coco found herself
bored. It was here where she got her first taste of high–class fashion and was instantaneously inspired to construct her own style. Jaded by the
monotonous lifestyle of the privileged, Chanel requested to make use of Balsan's Paris flat. Once she moved to the capitol of trend, Coco felt ready to
take on her next adventure: fashion. Still absorbed into the

Since being identified as a model trough which knowledge where developed, held, transferred, created, and shared (brown and Duguid, 1991; Lave and

internal and external education organizations, and public and private sectors across the world. The community of practice is originally developed by

The authors concluded that while increasing gastroenterology capacity is important (i.e., capital and funding availability, plus searching the local labor
market for gastroenterology physicians, nurses, and physician assistants), it may not be as beneficial as redirecting the focus on healthcare system
process changes. Access limitations may be due to suboptimal management of current capacity rather than inadequate levels of capacity (Powell et al.,
2009). As the largest healthcare system in the world, the VHA cannot rely solely on hiring and training more gastroenterology staff when process
management is also in urgent need of simultaneous, coordinated improvement. As a response to this colossal demand to expand gastroenterology
trained and credentialed providers to perform colonoscopy, a small number of VHA facilities and gastroenterology departments sought new and
innovative ways to build provider and space capacity to mitigate this challenging, unmet need. Dr. Jason Dominitz, National Program Director for
Gastroenterology Patient Care Services, reported there are at least a half–dozen or more credentialed nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants
(PAs) performing colonoscopy at various VHA facilities. The non–physician endoscopists have collectively provided safe, quality–driven procedural

The Manager : Inside The Minds Of Football 's Leaders Essay
The Manager: Inside the Minds of Football's Leaders – A Critical Appreciation What is a Critical Appreciation? Critical Appreciation in its simplest
sense means appreciating any work from a literary point of view while ensuring that the negative bits are given their fair share of highlight as well,
since you just can't ignore the flaws when an analysis of a critical description is what you want to do. The term Critical Appreciation may appear to be
a self–explanatory one but it isn't for the one reason that it doesn't simply include appreciation but criticism too. However, what is worth mentioning
here is that the negative aspects mustn't overtake the best parts of the book as the cynosure. Introduction: A Football Manager's is one of the most
demanding jobs in the world, especially when you are at the helm at a top European club, may it be Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. From the
moment you take over the reins, there's an awful lot of board members waiting to chop your head off at the sight of a foot put wrong, plus, of course,
any and every armchair fan claiming his granny to be better than you just in case you do make a mistake. And that's only a compendious account of
what a manager goes through during his tenure, the complete picture known only to those connected to the sport in one way or the other. One such
person happens to be Mike Carson, the author of The Manager: Inside the Minds of Football's Leaders, who, through his connections with the game's

Albert Bandura's Theory Of Learning And Development
Social learning theory proposed by Albert Bandura has become the most influential theory of learning and development. According to Bandura, people
learn from each other through observation, imitation and modeling. Social Learning theory explains human behavior in term of continuous reciprocal
interaction between cognitive, behavioral and environmental interaction. Bandura believed that direct reinforcement could not account for all types of
learning. While the behavioral theories of learning suggested that all learning was the result of associations formed by conditioning, reinforcement, and
punishment, Bandura's social learning theory proposed that learning can also occur simply by observing the actions of others. His theory added a social
element, arguing that people can learn new information and behaviors by watching other people. Known as observational learning (or modeling), this
type of learning can be used to explain a wide variety of behaviors.
Bandura explained:
"Learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to inform them
what to do. Fortunately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Perspectives On The Psychological Process Of Learning
Perspectives in Learning
There are a number of contemporary theoretical perspectives that surround the psychological process of learning. Over the years these perspectives
have been examined and analyzed in the hopes of discovering the process that is most effective for the process of learning. Three of the top theoretical
perspectives: Constructivist/cognitivist theory, Phenomenographic/Variation theory and Socio–Cultural theory are all theories that have been proven to
be powerful processes in the field of learning. Although these perspectives are different in theory, they all focus on the context, meaning and
experiences of learning, while having similar beliefs regarding the active role of the learner and the influence of their environment. In this paper, the
discussion of Constructivist Cognitivism, Phenomenography and Socio–cultural perspectives lend an understanding to the complexities of these
theories and identify the key elements that make them unique. The first section of this paper will describe and discuss the key elements and
characteristics of each theory that makes them distinct. Examining these three theories will show both similarities and differences in the areas of
context, meaning and experience. The second section of this paper will discuss the commonalities amongst the three perspectives by presenting a case
study of one specific pedagogical aim, taught through each perspective. As the theories have similarities in the role experiences play, we will

The Theory Of Knowledge Management
Knowledge management is a term and a concept which began in the early 1990s. Despite the popular notion that knowledge management only began as
a practice with the rise of technology, it has been around as a concept for around 15,000 years. At that time in history, merchants, artisans, doctors, and
others first began writing down their knowledge for future generations. In Mesopotamia, roughly 5,000 years ago, people began to have difficulty
keeping track of all the clay tablets on which information was written and created the first organized knowledge management solutions, the library
(Bergeron 2003). Over the years, even as human advanced technologically, the idea of knowledge management remained. Since the idea of knowledge
management arose as a management idea in the 1990s, it has undergone several changes in definition as ideas have changed. First, in 1994, it was
defined as "the process of capturing, distributing, and effectively using knowledge." While this was a very straight forward definition, it had the
disadvantage of not including any mention of the human element. Thus, in 1998, the definition was changed to be "a discipline that promotes an
integrated approach to identifying, capturing, evaluating, retrieving, and sharing all of an enterprise's information assets, which may include databases,
documents, policies, procedures, and previously un–captured expertise and experience in individual workers." Finally, as technology has created more

The Importance Of Knowledge At A Ladies Only Fitness Centre
1. Introduction
It has been argued that within the short space of time between defining knowledge management and it becoming a common phrase, many organisations
stated one of their main aims as 'leveraging organisational knowledge' (Ruggles, 1998). It is with this in mind that organisations must be aware of their
knowledge workers, the information they hold and any potential knowledge based changes that may need to be implemented to help their success, or
even, survival.
This assignment aims to highlight the importance of knowledge workers and their input in organisations and their culture. As such, the overall aim is
to identify the need for knowledge–based changes in a particular organisation, how they were implemented, if at all, and ... Show more content on

Essentially, the knowledge being discussed here is more tacit, based on experiences, creativity and emotional intelligence. It is this kind of knowledge,
as well as explicit, that makes knowledge workers so valuable, as they can often interpret and deal with situations in such a way that others may not be
able to. In the particular work place situation being identified, there was a lack on knowledge being shared and, consequently, certain aspects that could
have been changed and bettered were left unattended.
I believe myself to be a knowledge worker, defined by Thomas Davenport (2000) as workers who "have high degrees of expertise, education, or
expertise". In this situation, I had been working at a similar ladies only fitness centre for some years and had been promoted to assistant manager.
Further to this, my background in building my own fitness and personal training career had aided my knowledge of the industry and ways to help
members. In addition, the more tacit side of this position involved getting to know clients on a one–to–one basis, understanding their mannerisms and
needs as well as making educated decisions about their capabilities and how best to help them.
Davenport goes on to say that the "primary purpose (of a knowledge worker) involves the creation, distribution or application of knowledge." When I
left my existing job to join Contour, which had a

It is not news to organizations that they need to find ways to keep from continually reinventing the wheel. Although aware of the problem,
organizations only recently have begun to construct processes that may change the too familiar predicament depicted in the cartoon. Perhaps
organizations are now addressing the issue of knowledge sharing due to their growing awareness of the importance of knowledge to organizational
success or perhaps because technology has made the sharing of knowledge more feasible. Whatever the impetus, organizations have started to do more

talk about sharing knowledgethey have begun to put into place the tools and processes that can actually bring it about. Knowledge databases, best

processes, have the avowed purpose of getting knowledge that exists in one part of the organization put to use in another part of the organization.
Three Myths Pervading the idea of knowledge sharing are three myths. Perhaps myth is the wrong termmaybe they are just assumptions that seem
reasonable at first glance, but when acted on send organizations to a dead end. Many of the organizations I studied started with one or more of these
assumptions and then had to make corrections to get back on track. The three myths are (1) build it and they will come, (2) technology can

Day Of The Dead Thesis
Coco is the story of a young boy in Mexico named Miguel who enjoys music, but is apart of a family that has banned all forms of music due to a
family feud. During The Day of the Dead, he is whisked away to the Land of the Dead where he is given a chance to learn about his family's past and
their hate for music.
I saw very little advertising or trailers for Coco compared to most major Disney films, so I was expecting a neat little Disney movie that didn't quite
match up to the Disney classics. However, Coco turned out to be a heartwarming movie about balancing your family and your dreams.
Disney's advocacy for cultural awareness is as prominent as ever and a lot of love and understanding of the Mexican culture is put into this movie.

Many children's films are very black and white, evil and good, wrong and right, but Coco does a wonderful job of exploring the gray areas and how
you don't always have to take sides completely.
Visually, the movie is stunning and the animation is flawless. Even minor movements like falling or walking will affect objects around the characters
in fascinating ways. Seeing Miguel walk across a lead–ridden rooftop and having each step disrupt the leaves around him is truly a joy from a technical
standpoint. The skeletons in the Land of the Dead interact with the world in unique and fun ways that further immerse viewers.
The most impressive part of the movie to me was how interconnected and well thought out the story was. Disney songs are always fun and do an
excellent job of explaining a situation or character, but Coco uses its main song as a vital plot point that connects the story as a whole. The characters
have a set goal and everything they do always relates back to that main

Achieving Millennium Development Goal 2
With the goal of achieving Millennium Development Goal 2(MDG–TL, 2014), Timor–Leste is currently working to enhance the quality of education,
particularly in the Ensino Basico (Basic Education) (NESP–Tl, 2011). Responding to these challenges, the Ministry of Education provides professional
training referred to as 'curso intensivo' in order to facilitate pedagogical change in teachers (Shah, 2013). This professional training embraces the
concept of the community of practice because teachers are principally engaged in joint activities to support each other, and to share information on the
subject of knowledge in order to enhance the quality of teaching. Educational Policy in Timor–Leste, The National Educational Strategic Plan
2011–2030, emphasizes that a holistic approach such as communities of practice, is the best way to facilitate pedagogical renewal in Timor–Leste
educational system (NESP–TL, 2011). Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder (2006) acknowledge the benefit of communities of practice by explaining that
each group member's concerns and issues on the practical subject can be mutually addressed through regular interaction.
Accordingly, this chapter will be divided into several sections; firstly, definition of terms. This section will discuss about originality, definition,

How a Community is Built in a University
How a Community is Built in a University
Community is something you will find in any formal or informal setting where people are in the same area for long periods of time, especially on many
college campuses. Community is thought of as, although different to specific individuals or subcultures, basically a group of informally bound people
sharing similar passions (Wenger, 2000). Majority of universities will push the idea of "community" and "togetherness" on its students. They will do
this a number of ways including, Freshman Convocation, Freshman Colloquium, and Welcome Week Activities (Nathan, 2005), just to name a few. By
using different methods of bringing students closer to one another, universities intend to make a happier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Included in the research of this topic were anthropologists, psychologists, sociologists, and social policy in order to connect individuals, institutions,
cultural communities, and relationships over time. This research was done to create opportunities for youth and to help people "give back" to their
community (Wenger & Snyder, 2000), to emphasize on the strengths, rather than weaknesses of youth and build youth's initiative (Denner, Lopez,
Cooper, & Dunbar, 1998; Zeldin, 1995). Gathered from this research was a list of ways to build a successful community within auniversity.
Step 1Make goals explicit by clarifying the goals.
Step 2Develop a common language with informal actions to establish common ground.
Step 3Define roles in the community, but it is not necessary to limit who can join.
Step 4Have early success by beginning with simple yet effective activities to get the group rolling forward.
Step 5Everyone needs to participate to feel accepted and needed by the group.
Step 6Members need to be recognized as individuals.
Community has many advantages that go along with it; these groups may not be particularly easy to create and sustain, the organic, spontaneous, and
informal nature makes them resistant to supervision and interference (Wenger, 2000). Unfortunately, with every accomplishment there must be some
sort of downfall. As described in Nathan's, My Freshman Year, "big community" has

The Two Theorists Of Working With Others

  • 1. The Two Theorists Of Working With Others Learning as a group consisted of working with others but also figuring out how to work with others. A person needs to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of their group to properly understand how to function efficiently in a group. If the members in the group are not able to work together and argue for the majority of the time, no work will get done. I had the luxury of having to deal with this task of having to discover which methods would work in order to work with others well and efficiently make a quality film. From past experiences, I have learned that groups work together well when everyone is on the same page. No one is confused and rarely questioning other people's ideas. Also when communicating ideas, it is helpful to have everyone brainstorm. With everyone brainstorming about possible themes or ideas directed towards the project, it makes everyone feel involved in the process of completing the project and no one is left out. In reading different theorists, my ideas about how to work in groups was altered. The two theorists in which I studied and learned from were Knud Illeris and Etienne Wenger. Illeris' theory emphasized that people that were learning had different backgrounds that affected their ability to learn. Illeris developed a chart in which the Basis, Internal Conditions, External Conditions all determined how people learned and how they applied the knowledge that they had. The Basis consists of the biology, psychology, and social science of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. A Spectrum Through Time; the Museum of Moving Image Essay... A Spectrum Through Time; The Museum of Moving Image Museum of the Moving Image is the country's only museum dedicated to the art, history, technique, and technology of the moving image in all its forms. It is one–of–a–kind destination for audiences of all ages and interests, from connoisseurs of classic cinema to children and families to avid gamers. The Museum is located the state of New York in Astoria Queens and has a collection of approximately 130,000 artifacts relating to the art, history and technology of the moving image. The collection is the largest and most extensive in the United States, and is considered one of the most important collections of its kind in the world. Soon as one steps into the building the whiteness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first three we had looked at was the Phenakistoscope, Praxinoscope and the Thaumatrope. Viktor demonstrated all three methods which was fascinating. These popular devices were inspired in the nineteenth century by Peter Mark Roget's theory of visual persistence, which held that our eyes retain an image for a fraction of a second, permitting a series of still images to become "fused" as a moving image. Another way to break down movements into a series of still pictures is a so called "video flipbook". A flipbook is the simplest way of making a sequence of still pictures appears to move. The intervals of darkness necessary for the illusion of motion are provided by the turn, or flip of each page. The nineteenth–century photographic experiments of Eadweard Muybridge and Etienne–Jules Marey broke down the movements of animals into a series of still pictures. When displayed in rapid succession, these pictures appear to be moving, recreating the original motion that the images document. Moving further in the exhibition, we looked at Brooklyn–based artist Gregory Barsamian's kinetic sculptures animate three–dimensional objects in real time. He called it "Feral Fount" which is a physical representation of a dream he had in which drops of water from his kitchen faucet transformed into a bomb, and then a paper airplane before crashing into his dishpan. The artwork is a stroboscopic zoetrope made up of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Philosophy Of Knowing And Learning Knowing and learning can be interpreted in many different ways, but my philosophy of knowing and learning is based on my understanding through the personal experience in the tutoring situation. As a Tutor for students who were 9 years old, majority of the time was spent reading to develop their English. An aspect that impacted the students' learning progress tremendously was the tutor's responsibility to understand the student's capability, needs and interest to support their learning progress. When tutoring the students, there were some theories that were appropriate to aid the students' in reading and influenced the tutor's techniques employed to support the students' learning. The philosophers that influenced my tutoring techniques were Etienne Wenger, Jerome Bruner,Albert Bandura, Ivan Pavlov, Burrhus Frederic Skinner, Jean Lave, Wolfgang Kohler andLev Vygotsky. Wenger's social theory believed that adding meaning and interest into an activity encourages learning (Lave & Wenger,1991). The Gestalt Approach influenced Kohler's idea where the student would need to know the basic elements before being able to learn and acquire more knowledge (Phillips & Soltis, 2009). To build up new ideas from the initial basic elements, Scaffolding by Bruner and Modelling by Bandura were the two learning strategies utilized to support the student's learning (Nalliah & Idris, 2014). The student is made aware that the new acquired skill or knowledge taught by Scaffolding and Modelling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Adult Basic Education and Implications of Digital Literacy... Adult basic education or ABE is a complicated area given that there are varying definitions of the words the title contain. Theorists, practitioners and learners can give differing accounts of what it means to be an adult learner, what constitutes basic education and how to facilitate said education. In practice, the area of ABE describes a whole range of programs that deliver a baseline or basic set of skills that all adults are expected to have acquired during compulsory education (ABE, 2013). According to Jacobson (2012), there is now an increasing availability of digital technology resources for education that are beginning to be applied to adult basic education settings. The presences of these technologies are undoubtedly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These technologies also have implications for teacher professional development along the same community of practice model. A CoP developed in an online environment known as an OCoP (Harasim, 2012), allow teachers and administrators the forum to discuss and develop best practices that support teachers in the development of instruction that in turn support learners in the exploration of digital literacies and content knowledge. An OCoP also takes advantage of and promotes understanding within the teacher's practice of the usage requirements of digital technologies within the design and development of curriculum for content knowledge, computational and language literacy skills as their own professional development is designed within the digital environment (Hawkes and Pauli, 2010). Additionally, the development of an OCoP, perhaps as a website or wiki application removes the boundaries of time and place and increases the efficacy and accessibility of information dissemination and support activities. Affordances of Digital Technologies Online learning and distance education technologies have been of keen interest to the adult basic education community for better than 15 years, as it solves the problem of lack of capacity. The last National Assessment of Adult Literacies reported 93 million adults have reading, math and/or English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To build an understanding of how communities of practice create organizational value, we suggest thinking of a community as an engine for the development of social capital. We argue that the social capital resident in communities of practice leads to behavioral changes, which in turn positively influence business performance. We identify four specific performance outcomes associated with the communities of practice we studied and link these outcomes to the basic dimensions of social capital. These dimensions include connections among practitioners who may or may not be co–located; relationships that build a sense of trust and mutual obligation, and a common language and context that can be shared by community members. Our conclusions are based on a study of seven organizations where communities of practice are acknowledged to be creating value. Communities of practice and Knowledge management Wasko and Faraj (2000) describe three kinds of knowledge: "knowledge as object", "knowledge embedded within individuals", and "knowledge embedded in a community". Communities of Practice have become associated with finding, sharing, transferring, and archiving knowledge, as well as making explicit "expertise", or tacit knowledge. Tacit knowledge is considered to be those valuable context–based experiences that cannot easily be

The authors concluded that while increasing gastroenterology capacity is important (i.e., capital and funding availability, plus searching the local labor market for gastroenterology physicians, nurses, and physician assistants), it may not be as beneficial as redirecting the focus on healthcare system process changes. Access limitations may be due to suboptimal management of current capacity rather than inadequate levels of capacity (Powell et al.,

As the largest healthcare system in the world, the VHA cannot rely solely on hiring and training more gastroenterology staff when process management is also in urgent need of simultaneous, coordinated improvement. As a response to this colossal demand to expand gastroenterology trained and credentialed providers to perform colonoscopy, a small number of VHA facilities and gastroenterology departments sought new and innovative ways to build provider and space capacity to mitigate this challenging, unmet need. Dr. Jason Dominitz, National Program Director for Gastroenterology Patient Care Services, reported there are at least a half–dozen or more credentialed nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) performing colonoscopy at various VHA facilities. • 12. The Manager : Inside The Minds Of Football 's Leaders Essay The Manager: Inside the Minds of Football's Leaders – A Critical Appreciation What is a Critical Appreciation? Critical Appreciation in its simplest sense means appreciating any work from a literary point of view while ensuring that the negative bits are given their fair share of highlight as well, since you just can't ignore the flaws when an analysis of a critical description is what you want to do. The term Critical Appreciation may appear to be a self–explanatory one but it isn't for the one reason that it doesn't simply include appreciation but criticism too. However, what is worth mentioning here is that the negative aspects mustn't overtake the best parts of the book as the cynosure. Introduction: A Football Manager's is one of the most demanding jobs in the world, especially when you are at the helm at a top European club, may it be Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. From the moment you take over the reins, there's an awful lot of board members waiting to chop your head off at the sight of a foot put wrong, plus, of course, any and every armchair fan claiming his granny to be better than you just in case you do make a mistake. And that's only a compendious account of what a manager goes through during his tenure, the complete picture known only to those connected to the sport in one way or the other. • 13. Albert Bandura's Theory Of Learning And Development Social learning theory proposed by Albert Bandura has become the most influential theory of learning and development. According to Bandura, people learn from each other through observation, imitation and modeling. Social Learning theory explains human behavior in term of continuous reciprocal interaction between cognitive, behavioral and environmental interaction. Bandura believed that direct reinforcement could not account for all types of learning. While the behavioral theories of learning suggested that all learning was the result of associations formed by conditioning, reinforcement, and punishment, Bandura's social learning theory proposed that learning can also occur simply by observing the actions of others. His theory added a social element, arguing that people can learn new information and behaviors by watching other people. Known as observational learning (or modeling), this type of learning can be used to explain a wide variety of behaviors. Bandura explained: "Learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to inform them what to do. Fortunately, ... • 14. Perspectives On The Psychological Process Of Learning Perspectives in Learning There are a number of contemporary theoretical perspectives that surround the psychological process of learning. Over the years these perspectives have been examined and analyzed in the hopes of discovering the process that is most effective for the process of learning. Three of the top theoretical perspectives: Constructivist/cognitivist theory, Phenomenographic/Variation theory and Socio–Cultural theory are all theories that have been proven to be powerful processes in the field of learning. Although these perspectives are different in theory, they all focus on the context, meaning and experiences of learning, while having similar beliefs regarding the active role of the learner and the influence of their environment. In this paper, the discussion of Constructivist Cognitivism, Phenomenography and Socio–cultural perspectives lend an understanding to the complexities of these theories and identify the key elements that make them unique. The first section of this paper will describe and discuss the key elements and characteristics of each theory that makes them distinct. Examining these three theories will show both similarities and differences in the areas of context, meaning and experience. The second section of this paper will discuss the commonalities amongst the three perspectives by presenting a case study of one specific pedagogical aim, taught through each perspective. • 15. The Theory Of Knowledge Management Knowledge management is a term and a concept which began in the early 1990s. Despite the popular notion that knowledge management only began as a practice with the rise of technology, it has been around as a concept for around 15,000 years. At that time in history, merchants, artisans, doctors, and others first began writing down their knowledge for future generations. In Mesopotamia, roughly 5,000 years ago, people began to have difficulty keeping track of all the clay tablets on which information was written and created the first organized knowledge management solutions, the library (Bergeron 2003). Over the years, even as human advanced technologically, the idea of knowledge management remained. Since the idea of knowledge management arose as a management idea in the 1990s, it has undergone several changes in definition as ideas have changed. First, in 1994, it was defined as "the process of capturing, distributing, and effectively using knowledge." While this was a very straight forward definition, it had the disadvantage of not including any mention of the human element. Thus, in 1998, the definition was changed to be "a discipline that promotes an integrated approach to identifying, capturing, evaluating, retrieving, and sharing all of an enterprise's information assets, which may include databases, documents, policies, procedures, and previously un–captured expertise and experience in individual workers." Finally, as technology has created more of an element of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction It has been argued that within the short space of time between defining knowledge management and it becoming a common phrase, many organisations stated one of their main aims as 'leveraging organisational knowledge' (Ruggles, 1998). It is with this in mind that organisations must be aware of their knowledge workers, the information they hold and any potential knowledge based changes that may need to be implemented to help their success, or even, survival. This assignment aims to highlight the importance of knowledge workers and their input in organisations and their culture. As such, the overall aim is to identify the need for knowledge–based changes in a particular organisation, how they were implemented, if at all, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, the knowledge being discussed here is more tacit, based on experiences, creativity and emotional intelligence. It is this kind of knowledge, as well as explicit, that makes knowledge workers so valuable, as they can often interpret and deal with situations in such a way that others may not be able to. In the particular work place situation being identified, there was a lack on knowledge being shared and, consequently, certain aspects that could have been changed and bettered were left unattended. I believe myself to be a knowledge worker, defined by Thomas Davenport (2000) as workers who "have high degrees of expertise, education, or expertise". In this situation, I had been working at a similar ladies only fitness centre for some years and had been promoted to assistant manager. Further to this, my background in building my own fitness and personal training career had aided my knowledge of the industry and ways to help members. In addition, the more tacit side of this position involved getting to know clients on a one–to–one basis, understanding their mannerisms and needs as well as making educated decisions about their capabilities and how best to help them. Davenport goes on to say that the "primary purpose (of a knowledge worker) involves the creation, distribution or application of knowledge." It is not news to organizations that they need to find ways to keep from continually reinventing the wheel. Although aware of the problem, organizations only recently have begun to construct processes that may change the too familiar predicament depicted in the cartoon. Perhaps organizations are now addressing the issue of knowledge sharing due to their growing awareness of the importance of knowledge to organizational success or perhaps because technology has made the sharing of knowledge more feasible. Whatever the impetus, organizations have started to do more than Page 2 talk about sharing knowledgethey have begun to put into place the tools and processes that can actually bring it about. Knowledge databases, best practice seminars, technology fairs, cross–functional teams, "Does anyone know . . . ?" e–mails, and groupware, to name but a few knowledge–sharing processes, have the avowed purpose of getting knowledge that exists in one part of the organization put to use in another part of the organization. Three Myths Pervading the idea of knowledge sharing are three myths. Perhaps myth is the wrong termmaybe they are just assumptions that seem reasonable at first glance, but when acted on send organizations to a dead end. During The Day of the Dead, he is whisked away to the Land of the Dead where he is given a chance to learn about his family's past and their hate for music. I saw very little advertising or trailers for Coco compared to most major Disney films, so I was expecting a neat little Disney movie that didn't quite match up to the Disney classics. Achieving Millennium Development Goal 2 With the goal of achieving Millennium Development Goal 2(MDG–TL, 2014), Timor–Leste is currently working to enhance the quality of education, particularly in the Ensino Basico (Basic Education) (NESP–Tl, 2011). Responding to these challenges, the Ministry of Education provides professional training referred to as 'curso intensivo' in order to facilitate pedagogical change in teachers (Shah, 2013). This professional training embraces the concept of the community of practice because teachers are principally engaged in joint activities to support each other, and to share information on the subject of knowledge in order to enhance the quality of teaching. Educational Policy in Timor–Leste, The National Educational Strategic Plan 2011–2030, emphasizes that a holistic approach such as communities of practice, is the best way to facilitate pedagogical renewal in Timor–Leste educational system (NESP–TL, 2011). Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder (2006) acknowledge the benefit of communities of practice by explaining that each group member's concerns and issues on the practical subject can be mutually addressed through regular interaction. Community has many advantages that go along with it; these groups may not be particularly easy to create and sustain, the organic, spontaneous, and informal nature makes them resistant to supervision and interference (Wenger, 2000).
