Organisation is a coalition of interest, so exists in the identification and solution of the problem. In

combination of democratic and tyrannical regimes, "which one might regard either as not being

"The Laughing Sutra" by Mark Salzman takes place during a historically tense time of world
relations. While this book tells an enlightening adventure story, it also gives insight on world history
and scary realities. "How to Read Literature Like a Professor" by Thomas C. Foster gives insight on
reading reputable literature by giving readers cognizance on a writer's process. In his book, Foster
provides concrete instances and ideas that appear throughout the writing world. Foster brought up
many relevant points, but in this case, geography and politics were greatly influential on "The
Laughing Sutra". Because "The Laughing Sutra" is about native Chinese men traveling to a new
alien country, geography plays an indisputable role in the story. "Geography is setting, but it's also
(or can be) psychology, attitude, finance, industry– anything that place can forge in the people who
live there." (174, Foster). Like Foster said, it was not just a physical transition in buildings and
landscape that widened the main characters' views. Everyone Hsun–ching and the colonel met,
everywhere they went, and the overall change in attitude made the switch from China to America so
drastic. Especially in the twentieth century, China and America had different societies. That, along
with the stage of technology, people could be sheltered from other cultures. As shown in the book,
the Chinese characters did not know much about American culture and vice versa. However, the
funny misunderstandings due to alternative lifestyles made Salzman's piece compelling. For
example, when Hsun–ching and the colonel were wandering around San–Francisco and saw a man
with nipple piercings, the colonel had an interesting take on them. "Don't pay any attention to him.
I've seen that before– he's a shaman. They go into trances and spirits go into their bodies, and then
they put needles through their skin like that to prove that they feel no pain." (190, Salzman). Colonel
Sun's experience with nipple piercings makes him conclude the man to be a spiritual person. When
in reality he probably did not get piercings for the reasons Colonel Sun thought. And since these

This study focused on determining the level of influence that professional athletes have on the
lifestyle choices of University of Michigan undergraduates, particularly in the areas of politics,
health and wellness, and product use. A Qualtrics survey was distributed to students via social
media, email, and flyers; seventy–seven responses were analyzed. The results indicated that, overall,
professional athletes have a relatively small influence on the lifestyle choices of U–M
undergraduates. There is insufficient evidence to suggest that the mean difference between the level
of influence professional athletes have on males and females in the areas of politics and health and

People who try to imitate their favorite athletes tend to find themselves purchasing brands in which
the athletes are endorsing. The results of the study proved to be the opposite of what the researchers
hypothesized. In examining whether athletes endorsing products have a major effect on student

determine if people were more willing to donate to a charity represented by Dwight D. Howard if
