“Image” refers to programs installed on the device
Devices will be imaged with Windows 8.1 and the
EduSTAR image.
Students will not be administrators on the devices
Devices will be reset to factory settings if / when students
leave the school

8. Suppliers – Repairs and warranty
Recommended suppliers will give 3 years
warranty.
For all repair and warranty issues devices will
need to be returned to the supplier.
Non warranty repairs carried out by non-ACER
repairers will void the remaining warranty on the
device.
9. Device Delivery to school
Devices purchased from the two recommended
suppliers will be delivered by the suppliers to
the school for imaging.
Devices purchased from other suppliers will
need to be taken to the school for imaging.
10. Order date deadlines
For devices to be ready for the 2015
school year they will need to be
ordered promptly.
LWT suggest by mid January 2015 as
latest but no absolute order cut off.

12. Financial Assistance
Important update about the Schoolkids Bonus
Legislation has passed to phase out Schoolkids Bonus payments. The
Schoolkids Bonus will continue until the end of 2016.
The legislative change introduces an income test starting on 1
January 2015.
To be eligible for the Schoolkids Bonus, you must either be a parent
or carer who gets Family Tax Benefit Part A for a dependent child.
From 1 January 2015, eligible families will receive Schoolkids Bonus
in:
2 instalments of $421 for each child in secondary school - a total of
$842 each year

The Southern Grampians No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)
is a specific program to enable eligible low income
people living in the Southern Grampians Shire to access
loan finance for approved education costs.

brought netbooks to school. This will be followed up. There

• The student must bring the device fully

device must be reported immediately to the eLearning Co-
ordinator .
In the case of suspected theft a police report must be made
by the family and a copy of the report provided to the
school.
Parents will need to check their insurance under the
Parents’ Home Insurance Policies.

At school, the devices will not be networked to school

Students can:
• Save to the Home drive on the server and print from
a school computer
• Save to USB and print from home
• Electronically submit work

The devices have Symantec antivirus software
installed on them.
The virus software will be upgraded from the
school network.
Students are recommended to follow the
guidelines in the information booklet.
38. Back up / Recovery
It is the students’ responsibility to back up to
USB or the server.
If the machine is faulty or needs to be re-
imaged, the technicians will not back up and
data will be lost..

Technical Support will be available daily from EB8
between the following hours:
8.30 am – 9.00 am (before school)
11.00 am – 11.30 am (recess)
1.00pm – 1.30 pm (lunch)
Students are not to go to the techs
during class time.
