2. What are adjectives?
It tells about nouns – people,
animals, places and things.
a) Sheila is a curious girl.
b) The market is crowded in the
morning.
c) The puppies are hungry.
3. Demonstrative adjectives?
It is used with nouns that are near/far to the
speaker.
This, that, these, those are demonstrative
pronouns.
1.This(near) baby (singular) is my niece.
2. That(far) girl(singular) playing outside is my cousin.
3.These (near) mangoes (plural) in the basket are
ready to eat.
4. Those(far) mangoes (plural) on the tree are still
unripe.
4. Comparison of Objectives
Positive To compare two equal

Adjectives of one syllable form their
comparative with –r/er and superlative
with –st/est.
E.g:
Brave (positive) – braver (comparative) –
bravest (superlative)
Cold (positive) – Colder (comparative) –
Coldest (superlative)
6. Adjectives of one syllable that end with ‘a
vowel + a consonant’ form their comparatives
by doubling the last consonant with –er and
their superlative by doubling the last
consonant with –est.
E.g:
Hot ( positive) – hotter (comparative) – hottest
(superlative)
Thin (positive) – thinner (comparative) –
thinnest (superlative)
7. Adjectives with two syllables that end in –y
form their comparative by changing -y to –
ier and their superlative by changing –y to –
iest .
E.g:
