2. I want to create a pure punk magazine, so I want to use a picture similar to this of frank from ‘The Gallows’. A low angle shot looking up would be ideal as it creates a powerful mood, and maybe a snarling face to show true punk attitude. I’m also considering a subjective look with the main image looking at the reader, making them feel more connected with the magazine. But I could use an image similar to this with an objective image where the artist is looking away from the camera, further implying the punk rock attitude I’ve chosen on the title ‘brace’ to relate to relate to the braces worn by punks. I got this distorted font from ‘dafont.com’ (Destroy – '28 days later')

3. I have found that most rock/punk/metal magazines are mainly dominated by the colour black, so this is the colour I intend on using in the background of the magazine. Distorted font Posters advertised Objective image Subjective image I like both of theses images used. The objective image helps to imply a rocker attitude, whereas the subjective stare of Oli Sykes makes me feel connected to the artist. Most magazines chose to use the subjective approach, so by going with an objective main image I could create part of my magazines Unique selling point. Free Posters always make me want to buy a magazine and this is why I intend on using them on my cover.

4. I love ‘The Face’ magazines simple layouts with only a few cover lines. And my survey results tell me that most people prefer simple layouts to cluttered ones. I think this style layout makes the magazine seem more professional and organised.

6. This is a mock-up of my cover design. I’m really like how this cover looks. It conveys the punk mood I was aiming to show. I’ve used an objective main image which I think works really well to project the punk attitude. I’ve used a simple range of colours (black, red, yellow and white) this helps not to clutter the page. I’ve also only chosen to use red and yellow for cover-line titles; this concentrates the readers eye to the main articles of the magazine. ‘ Sticking with punk’ – slogo This simple slogo I have used is easy to remember and straight to the point; It tells the reader that this is a dedicated/specialist punk magazine. The logo is a picture of some braces which are often related with the punk fashion. It’s also the name of the magazine The lead article is larger than the rest of the cover-lines. This should lure in readers. By keeping to only two fonts (one for titles and the other for coverlines) a house-style is being developed. This will create a brand the audience become familiar with and eventually trust. I will carry this house-style throughout my magazine (contents page and double page spread)

7. For my front cover main-image I want a really confrontational photo of a single punk-music artist. I plan on taking my picture up against either a gritty brick wall or against a blank background which I will later turn black in Photoshop. I intend on using a medium close up, and maybe a low angled shot to emphasises the attitude. I want to also make my image either black and white or just little saturation to help portray the gritty attitude. Inspirational images.
