Wisdom, passion and dedication are the necessity traits to have when writing a good book in order
to provide the reader with an experience to want more; to want to know more, read more and look
into detail beyond the words written on the page. Jonathan Kozol provided just that and then some.
Kozol took real life occurrences from some previous years and wrapped them into a well detailed
layout of the struggles and occurrences that poor minority children once faced when trying to obtain
an education giving the nation a real wake–up call. Although segregation was thought to have come
and went, it was still occurring, dismantling the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling that had taken
place within the previous years. The criminal justice system ... Show more content on

Kozol pointed out that it is hard to convince young people that they can learn and can become
educated within their early years when they are continuously cordoned off by society that isn't sure
they really can (p. 37). Sadly, they could have excelled but they often weren't provided with the
opportunity. Within the next chapters, chapters 2 and 3, I began to really take into consideration
Kozol's way of writing and point of views. The voices were coming to life and it was nearly as if I
was there in that classroom watching this degrading event occur. Chapter 2 began the illustration of
how corrupt the education system really was in that particular day and age (some odd 40–50 years
ago and continues today). Although all children should serve as equals, they were not and do not. It
was merely a totem pole of color, whites being on top and colored falling below and usually falling
behind. He compares the inner–city schools portraying the characteristics that a totalitarian
government was then present and the funding for education was very scarce and limited regardless
of the how well the economy was doing. The iteration of how poorly the children were focused on
was also present and the point was once noted within the reading that the expressiveness of children
was often muted (p. 71). Children weren't allowed expression nor were they allowed activities
outside of the lines. It was much like a

Disneyland Park: The Disney Dedication Plaque . Introduction.
Disneyland Park: The Disney Dedication Plaque
Introduction
The Disneyland dedication plaque forms part of the most overlooked details in Disney parks.
The plaque, which is located close to the anterior of the park not only sets the attitude for
exploration but also offers words of inspiration. Notably, the plaque is signed by Walt Disney, the
reigning executive at the time of Disneyland's opening. Most people that visit the park often fail to
notice the plaque despite it being a nice way of welcoming visitors to Disneyland. At the time of its
opening in 1955, many people thought that the park would fail considering Walt's emphasis on a
theme park (Spence 1). However, other people recognized the opening of
Disneyland as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, the dedication plaque lies at the base of the flag pole in the park.
Uniqueness of the Artifact
The plaque that welcomes visitors into Disneyland is practically magical. The words inscribed in the
plaque describe Walt's vision of the way people should feel when entering the apparently joyful
place on earth (Spence 2). The Disneyland dedication plaque is not as exactly unique because
replicas of the same artifact can be found in other Disney parks across the world. The plaques have
brass powder implanted in them to give the metal used in their creation an authentic appearance. In
addition to the replicas in other parks, companies such as QuestDesignCanada today produce
replicas based on the original artifact in California. The replicas have an authentic appearance and
come with a metal hanger for mounting to a wall. These replicas are great for
Disneyland lovers and the fact that their aging process gives them a unique appearance is cherished.
Mass Production of the Artifact
As noted earlier, the Disneyland dedication plaque is not unique to the California Park because the
idea was conveyed to the other Disney parks across the world. The 1971 Walt Disney World
Wilson 3 dedication plaque acknowledges the life, talents, and philosophy of Walt. Similar to the
Disneyland artifact, the plaque inspires people and welcomes them to a magical kingdom that
accommodates the interests of persons of all ages. Similarly, the Tokyo

Life And Dedication Of An Organization
As I peered through the window of opportunity, which I thought would be an easy adventure, time
and dedication surely proved me mistaken. One average senior–high day, I walk into the Human
Services classroom and sit down at my desk. The class writes the daily five minute prompt about the
service we are hoping to be involved in for FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of
America) called, STAR (Student Taking Action with Recognition) events. After the prompt, the class
sets up the desks to have our monthly FCCLA meeting. I, being the President, began the meeting
with any house–keepings that needs to be discussed. Next, we progress the discussion to our
chapter's current funds and finally begin to go into detail about STAR events. In an organized
manner, we list the events and information pertaining to which people are planning on working in
each group.
I decide to work with Angela, who happens to be our chapter's Vice President, and Molly, the
secretary, to focus our attention to the "Focus on Children" category. With much thought, we decide
on the idea of researching the sugar content in beverages and directing the information toward late–
elementary audiences. We create a few presentations and visuals to provide the students an accurate
idea of the sugar content within their drinks. While constructing this project, we also call at least
five of the elementary schools in the area. One of the schools responds and we are able to coordinate

Dedication And Emission: The Marathon Of Hope
Dedication originated from the Latin word dedicare in the 14th century, meaning to devote, or to
commit one's time and resources towards a task (Oxford Dictionary). Modern day usage of
dedication is still applicable to the original definition, so little change has befallen the word. Despite
also being associated with the Catholic church (to declare a church to be sacred), Oxford Dictionary
defines the word as, "The quality of being committed to a task or purpose" (Oxford Dictionary).
However, dedication's definition in the modern world has expanded to include not only
commitment, but also trivial amounts of focus onto a task, too little to be considered a true
commitment. Although the general application of dedication is to be focus one's time ... Show more

Some may say that tasks where people put any measure of sustained effort into is considered
dedication. Others with the same conviction state that it is a word to reward people with, by saying
that they are "dedicated," making people feel better. However, this definition, which fits on a whole
spectrum of commitment, does not accurately commend the people who spend years of their lives
pursuing their goals enough credit for their actions. The meaning of dedication is weakened by
attaching the word to actions that are negligible compared to noteworthy achievements that took
immense effort. It is better to associate other, arguably less powerful words to describe smaller

The most influential governments and human rights agencies in the 21stcentury are now focusing
their efforts on human health and security. In many presidential campaigns todays reducing the
mortality rate of children, the youth and the old due to diseases is among the main manifesto of the
contestants. This shows how life are being valued by our government through bills like the Obama

operations, hospitals are not an exception in this movement. Today, we have full automated and

Why Dedication Is Important
Dedication is being committed to a task or purpose. Dedication is what gets you out of bed at 5 a.m
in the morning to go swim 3 miles in water than feel like it should be ice, not water. Dedication is
what makes you want to work harder at something you may not have mastered quiet yet. If you ask
any pro athlete what got them to where they are today, 9 times out of 10 they will say dedication.
RING! RING! RING! I wake to an alarm clock that reads 5:15 AM ringing in my ear. I swiftly get
out of my bed, and put on my bathing suit. I dash downstairs, grab my quick breakfast, hop in the
freezing car and prepare for the 2.5 hour ride to the swim meet. Gazing out the tinted window, all I
see is towns with usual Saturday morning traffic, followed miles of farmland. When we arrive at the

Friends/family. For example, during the spring of 2016, my Little League team had a great playoff
run, but I had two birthday parties of very close friends. I decided that I would miss the first one,
because if we didn't win we were out of the playoffs. That games I went 2–4 with two HRs, which
include the walk–off HR. Smiling big, I knew that I would play in the game the next day, and miss
my other friend's birthday party. The next day we lost, I was disappointed that I missed my friends
party just to lose a game. Still, I felt a sense of pride that I was dedicated enough to miss a very fun
party for something, we were far from guaranteed to win. In conclusion, dedication pays off. For
example, with dedication to swimming I was able to qualify for meets that I would have never
qualified for without endless practices, that required constant dedication. With dedication to learning
jQuery, I have been able to develop apps that I would have been able to make with out pushing
through weeks of learning. Dedication is the difference from good to

Special Education Requires a Lot of Education, Time and...
What if students with special needs had to sit in a classroom and try to learn like a normal student?
The success of students would not be existent without special needs teachers. Special education
teachers help students with disabilities fit in as best as they can by teaching them to do everyday
things. These tasks can include brushing their teeth, going to the bathroom, and feeding themselves.
Special education teachers put in a lot of work to create the best lifestyle for the students that they
teach. Fourteen percent of the kids in the United States have special needs. Those fourteen percent
need teachers to help them. Special Education requires a lot of education, daily work, tools,
technology, and testing, but it is a very rewarding job. Special education can be a very confusing
field and varies with the location and circumstances. Very few special education teachers work with
students with severe disabilities ("Teachers–Special Education" 2). The majority of employees in the
special education field work with mild to moderate disabilities (2). Most special education teachers
work with students one–on–one in a normal classroom environment (2). There are a few teachers
that work with their students in separate rooms aside from the student's normal classroom (3). There
are very few special education teachers that work in residential places, at home, or in a hospital (2).
There are some teachers that work with a baby at home (2). A special education teacher needs to

Harriet Tubman Dedication
"Every great dream begins with a dreamer, always remember, you have within you the strength,
patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world," (Harriet Tubman Quotes).
Harriet Tubman believed that dedication, which is passion and motivation, are the key to being a
dreamer like she was. Dedication is the most important quality of leadership that Harriet Tubman
used to get through the long hard journeys. Harriet Tubman's most essential leadership quality was
her dedication because without it she wouldn't have made it very far on any of her journeys before
she would lose all hope. Harriet was a gnarly leader because she was so dedicated to planning. She
would plan "in the vicinity of the plantation for days" (Petry). Tubman's

everyone; however once you get though the many barriers, you will feel a great sense of

empathic for individuals who are suffering; this trait can be hard to achieve, because you are not
always able to understand what a person is going through. In other cases nurses find themselves
becoming exhausted because of the constant emotional stress. Sometimes you have to take time

Dedication And Dedication Of Dedication
Bryce Curtis Mr. Moore Senior English December 14, 2015 Dedication Have you ever wanted to
just give up on something or just wish you had never started it in the first place? We've all
experienced this feeling at least once in our lifetime. I have felt this through the thick and thin of my
school career, and sadly I have tended to be the one who wants to gives up a lot more often than I'd
like to admit. However, it is always the fear of failing, and in my case, not graduating that reignites
my dedication in order to succeed. Dedication is when you absolutely devote yourself to something,
doing whatever it takes to keep pursuing your goal. It's more than a pursuit, it's a passionate
perseverance. In order to be good at something, truly good at it, you have to be dedicated to it. It's
more than trying to achieve the impossible, just so you can be the best. Everyone has that one thing
that they are dedicated to. When you are dedicated, you don't care about the parties, or going out
with your friends; you will stay at home on a Saturday night to accomplish your goal. Dedication is
what leads you to success. Without it, you will never succeed. However, dedication doesn't always
kick in right away. For example, my Sophomore year I realized I wasn't going to pass my English
class unless I did something. I talked to my teacher and asked what I could do. And after looking at
the grade book this was her reply, "Well Bryce, unless you can get a 121% on this next essay, I don't

Coaches Have Talent And Dedication Essay

State University) with an economic degree and played baseball. "I love the intensity and the

that he is very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to
coach. "It's not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been
addicted to me. I've been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time."
From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio:
He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family reasons
last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A state
championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992–94 and
returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27–12 record with 5A state quarterfinal
playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105–70.
Even tough he lives in New Orleans, he drives an hour for his work every day. In 2013, Coach Lorio
took a challenge by coaching the Morgan City Tigers after he resigned from Thibodaux. He came to
to Morgan City knowing that Morgan city never made it to the playoff over a decade. He has seen

Controversial Dedication: A Study of John Brown's Politics
"I, John Brown am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away;
but with blood. I had as I now think: vainly flattered myself that without very much bloodshed, it
might be done." – John Brown (1859) Few abolitionists have shown the die–hard dedication that
John Brown presented during the battle to end slavery. Most abolitionists, such as Frederick
Douglas, focused on giving speeches to persuade people to see the light and bring slavery to an end.
However John Brown appears to be the anomaly in the abolitionist's movement, he believed in the
freedom of slaves so fervently that he was willing to raise arms against his fellow Americans.
Although his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brown took up his father's cross, and enlisted his sons to attack and kill five men in "Pottawattamie
Creek" during May of "1856" ("John Brown"). He claimed that the men were supporters of slavery,
yet none of them owned slaves. Historian Paul Shakel asserts that he justified his murderous acts;
when discussing the victims of Pottawattamie Creek Brown is quoted as saying, "they deserved to
die, because they 'had committed murder in their hearts already, according to the Big Book'" (29).
For an unknown reason he was not tried with murder and easily escaped the Kansas territory to
further his campaign. This event was just the beginning of what would become John Brown's purge
of blood to end slavery. Civil War researcher, Alfred J. Von Frank asserts that "As [abolitionists]
transformed themselves and overcame existing social barriers, they reimagined their country as a
pluralist society in which the standard of excellence depended on righteousness and benevolence
rather than on skin color, sex, or material wealth" (142). While these are noble pursuits, the way in
which they were achieved was severe. Although it remains evident through history, that very few
social reforms have been achieved peacefully. John Brown truly did transform himself and his style
of protests to more violent attempts as he gained ground. Although he argued that his war on slavery
was one of righteousness, there were too many fatalities by his own hands to

The Dedication Of Abigail Williams And Elizabeth Proctor
Amber Chan American Lit I Ms. Crimmel March 6, 2015 The Dedication of Abigail Williams and
Elizabeth Proctor Arthur Miller creates many unforgettable characters in his play, The Crucible, to
depict the historical events of the Salem witch trials. Although there are many other influential
characters in the town of Salem that cause major events to happen during the trials and are
eventually subject to their consequences, two women were most prominent. As a young,
manipulative, vengeful, jealous, and selfish liar, Abigail Williams feels that she has superiority over
everyone and uses this mindset to accomplish her malicious intentions. Elizabeth Proctor portrays a
virtuous, selfless, and forgiving housewife who can often be cold towards people but still has the
courage to face the people after finding out about her husband, John Proctor's, sin of committing
adultery. Despite the numerous hardships they overcome throughout the play, both women continue
to prove their determination towards achieving their respective goals. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller
shows the true dedication of Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor through their love for John
Proctor, realization of their role in the witch trials, and their influence on their surroundings.
Although there are countless differences between Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor, something
they share is their love for John Proctor. Elizabeth's romantic interest in Proctor is reasonable since

What Is Child Dedication? Essay
II. CHILD DEDICATION
What is Child Dedication?
It is the ceremonial act of publicly consecrating a child's life to God, undertaken by parents, during a
worship service in the temple. Through this symbolic rite, parents, on one hand, promise to raise the
child in the fear of the Lord, and the congregation, on the other hand, commits to help the parents
achieve such a goal by keeping an eye on the child in the community and by encouraging them to
bring the child to Sunday schools, worship services, and other church activities in relation with his
Christian training.
Why Do Major Protestant Churches Practice Child Dedication?
Infant baptism as some churches practice it today dates back to the second century of the Christian
era. However, the Bible does not account any infant baptism. When biblical passages such as Acts
16:15, 33 and Acts 18:8 mention the baptism of a whole household, we can assume that there might
have been some infants or children among them. And yet, it still remains an assumption. As a result,
many protestant churches do not practice infant baptism, they instead practice the ceremony of baby
or child dedication.
This idea of child dedication is found in the first chapter of the first book of Samuel where Hannah,
after giving birth to Samuel, took him to the temple to give him back to the Lord. Dedicating a child
to the Lord is publicly acknowledging that the child is a gift from Him and at the same he is a gift
you don't want to solely raise as parents.

The Role Of Family In The Movie World War Z
Family
Introduction
Family is everything to some people. Most parents work hard to provide everything they can for
their children. Many times the man of the house, usually the father or husband, believes it's his duty
to protect his wife and kids. No matter what the circumstances are, his family is his first priority. He
will risk his life to protect his family from any harm. There are times when the father isn't there, and
during those times the mother steps up to the plate. Even a poor mother would do anything to
provide her children with food when she hasn't ate. The importance of family is known all around
the world. Anyone would do anything for their family to be safe. The movie World War Z is a great
example of what people can do to save their family. This is a movie in which the whole world is

The common, or "magic", number is 10,000 hours of practice in order for one to become master or
professional at what they are trying to accomplish. Most professional athletes such as hockey
players have been playing the sport for just about as long as they could walk. For example, most of
the skaters on the 18u Syracuse Stars AAA hockey team started playing the game at ages 3,4, or 5.
Every player on that team is fundamentally sound when it comes to the game. They have been
around it for so long that hockey became a way of life, these are the players, that dedicate the most
time in order to succeed. They give the small amount of practice time that they have everyday, 100%
every time they touch the ice. The hockey players across the world that dedicate the most time to
their sport, will be the ones who end up having the best chance at becoming a professional. The
same goes for any profession in which one would like to excel in. The hockey coach for the

Jones). This holds true because if you put in the time to succeed it will show. A better example
would be if there is a player on the team that makes each practice but plays sloppy and does not
attend optional practices and makes no effort to put in extra time,

What Is Dedication Essay
"In order to excel, you must be completely dedicated to your chosen sport. You must also be
prepared to work hard and be willing to accept constructive criticism. Without one–hundred percent
dedication, you won't be able to do this."Willie Mays. This quote is a perfect example of dedication
because it informs the reader that dedication is required to accomplish a task. However, dedication
does not only have to be connected to a sport (as stated by the quote), but it can apply to any type of
goal, passion, or task. Dedication can be described as putting extra time and effort to reach a goal
that someone is striving towards, and it can be seen in people that have a passion that they want to
achieve.
Dedication is what drives people to become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, dedication is not slacking off. This means people may keep pushing off a task to do it later, or
they may be taking a rest or not doing their job while at work. Slacking off may be easier than all
the effort that needs to be put into being dedicated, but that goal people are striving towards will
never be accomplished. Dedication is not just being mediocre or going through the motions in life.
Many people to get a job done will just do the task they were assigned very quickly and sloppily.
After finishing that task they will not look for work to do. They may sit around and wait to see what
their manager tells them to do next. That is not how be dedicated towards something. If people want
a goal to be accomplished they need to be completing that task quickly and correctly. Then after
finishing that task they need to be looking to see what they can do next. They cannot be sitting
around waiting to be told what to do next. Finally, Dedication is not giving up or quitting on a task
that is trying to be completed. Completing a task or striving towards a goal may be difficult, but the
answer is never to give up or quit. That just shows that people have no interest or do not care about
what they are doing. If people are dedicated they should reach that goal, and there is no excuse to
not reach it. Even if failure happens, part of being

Post Secondary Education : An Example Of Dedication, Work...
From Rags to Riches "Families from low–Socioeconomic status communities are less likely to have
the financial resources or time availability to provide children with academic support" (National
Center for Education Statistics, 2008).This quote difinitively provides the necessary information
regarding attending post–secondary education. Even though this quote also seems very logical, it
proves to be a breaking point for Americans in their decision to attend a post–secondary education
college or technical school. Important matters regarding post–secondary education are very
simplistic, such as raising Americans economic status, and bettering one's stereotypical educational
outlook. Another main facet of attending post–secondary education leads to better opportunities to
the finely tuned occupations in America. The last archetype of attending post–secondary education
contains the equalizers of job placement and betterment, including the socio–economic status of that
individual. In the United States there is a belief that post–secondary education raises the
socioeconomic status of that scholar. In Kakenya Ntaiya's Tedtalk is an example of dedication, work
ethic, and self motivation for a better life. In her speech, Kakenya, who was born in Kenya describes
her life story. She was from a low economic status tribe that taught girls and women were supposed
to be mothers, and to marry by the age of twelve, and have no social education background. She

Marjory Stoneman Douglas' Dedication to the Florida...
The Everglades; a treasured river
Marjory Stoneman Douglas (April 7, 1890 – May 14, 1998) was an American journalist, writer and
environmentalist known for her staunch defense of the Florida Everglades against draining and
development. Moving to Miami as a young woman to work for The Miami Herald, Douglas became
a freelance writer, producing over a hundred short stories that were published in popular magazines.
Her most influential work was the book The Everglades: River of Grass (1947), which redefined the
popular conception of the Everglades as a treasured river instead of a worthless swamp. Published
the same year as the formal opening of Everglades National Park, the book was a call to attention
about the degrading quality of life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A concrete network of canals was designed to bring water from the lake area to surrounding
farmland in the dry season. Florida was becoming a booming area and more people came and more
acres of the Everglades were cleared for farms, ranches, housing, roads, and railways. And more and
more; the Everglades were dying (Miami Museum of Science, 1995).
Douglas was quickly drawn into the debate over the future of the Everglades. Many people,
including Florida's governor, Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, were in favor of draining the
Everglades. But others, like Frank Stoneman, disagreed. Marjory's father, Frank Stoneman
supported the preservation of the Glades, an idea that made the developers furious. He wanted this
wilderness area to be left untouched. Her earliest notions about the Everglades came directly from
her father. She became convinced that the Glades should be preserved in a natural state. She joined a
committee to establish the area as a national park, which would give the Everglades the protection of
the federal government.
Finally there was a public outcry for change. "Now that it was almost too late," wrote Marjory, "men
began to realize that the water supply was never just a local problem. The Everglades were one vast
unified harmonious whole in which the old subtle balance which was destroyed needed to be
replaced or restored" (Bryant pg 57, 1992). A new, scientific study of the region recommended

Military Dedication Research Paper
Dedication in the Military The word "Dedication" can be used to describe many things, such as
dedicating a work of art to a person or group of people. Additionally, dedicating a new building or
roadway to commemorate its completion is a form of dedication. What Dedication means to the
military member is something different all together and something not many get to experience. No
matter what branch of service or what country you serve, the dedication is the same for all. "Though
the history of each branch of the armed forces is different, the dedication is the same. The
willingness to serve is the same. The sacrifice is the same" (Mueller). Being dedicated to the
military means changing your whole life around. Becoming a new person and starting a new way of
life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strategic Planning Requires Hard Work And Dedication
Strategic planning requires hard work and dedication. Nothing can be effectively executed without a
plan of action in place.
Blankstein (2004) states that:
Addressing the core beliefs of an entire school community is a lengthy process. It is essential to be
sure to hold the line on behaviors and language that may conflict with organizational values and
mission. Without at least commitment to behavior that supports the school values and mission, the
fundamental aspect of any school values and mission–that "all students will learn"–will become
invalid (p. 115).
The Henderson County Public Schools in North Carolina strategic plan is a thirty–seven–page
instrument addressing five major goals with subset goal descriptors under each. Henderson County
School goals are: (1) Focus on every child; (2) Prepare students to be globally competitive in the
21st century; (3) Provide an effective teaching and learning environment; (4) Focus on building
positive community relationships; and (5) Maintain safe, quality energy–efficient facilities.
The Henderson County Schools strategic plan vision statement says, "Every student will achieve
success and graduate as a life–long learners, globally competitive, prepared for college, college, and
life." The Henderson County Schools vision statement is imaginable, appropriate, feasible, focused,
flexible, and communicable. There were no additional components that would add value or validity
to the statements. This important factor led me

My Goals And Dedication Of Dedication
When people hear dedication, they may think about relationships or a job. Dedication means
something different to all of us. To me, dedication is more general. It is chasing a dream or goal
relentlessly yet selflessly. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Dedication emerged in me
when I first started school and competing in athletics, and it has led me to every major achievement.
Twelve years after dedication started to model me into who I am today, I realized it was shaping my
life when I became a National Merit Scholar and placed eighth at state wrestling, both in February
of 2016. I looked back to all the times where dedication is all that kept me on the track of achieving
my goals and where dedication paid off. I didn't choose to value dedication; external factors grew it
up inside of me. Every youth soccer league practice and game, every wrestling practice and
tournament, and every class I had were factors in the development of dedication. It's clear what
made me become so dedicated. The question to ask myself is why these experiences instilled
dedication in me. The first place to look is wrestling. It's a sport that can build or destroy character.
Wrestling builds confidence. This confidence can grow or shrink depending on the outcome of
competition. Some people become overconfident and others settle into the perfect amount of
confidence. I believe I fall into the latter group. Practice can grow humility and dedication by

Determination, Discipline, And Dedication
Determination, discipline, and dedication are the three keys to Doctor Sampson (Sam) Davis'
success. Growing up in the streets of Newark was not easy for any child, pre–teen, teen, and adult,
especially for Davis but with the three D's to success he speaks of in The Pact: Three Young Men
Make a Promise and Fulfill a Dream, shows that anyone can succeed when you have friends to help
you through it all. Even though Davis did not have a perfect childhood, determination, dedication
and discipline would help push him. Davis, as a child, has seen what describes a dysfunctional
family and has witnessed many traits of physical, mental, and verbal abuse between his mother and
father; "Your daddy ain't shit," and, "Your mama ain't shit" (Davis 19). In some instances, the
violence was so severe that the use of a firearm or the destruction of property occurred. Davis' father
would divorce from his mother but, attempt to be there for his children, yet the divorce still took an
emotional toll on the kids. As for Davis, he would bury his feelings, to get over the divorce. Davis
acknowledged his mother lacked an adequate education, thus, this motivated him to become well
educated. However, acquiring adult responsibilities, such as writing and making bank deposits and
reading important documents to his illiterate was a grand task for a young child. Times were getting
harder for Davis' family and lack of funds meant utilities could not be paid; his family would be
powerless. Even through

Elements Of Dedication In The Moviehiplash
The third most essential element is dedication. You have to be dedicated to doing something in order
to succeed. "People on the path to greatness realize they won't be feeling up to do the work each and
every day. There will be days where you want to sleep in, avoid doing your work, or keep yourself
distracted" (Awoskia). This is saying that you have to stick with whatever it is you want to succeed
at and push the obstacles that are in your way along the path. You must stay on path, don't give in to
distractions or let yourself slack off. It is when you start letting distractions overwhelm you and you
start slacking off when you lose your dedication to strive to achieve whatever it is you are trying to
achieve. Dedication is an important key element that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As evidence in the work by Chazelle, Damien did in the film Whiplash, Andrew shows his
dedication for drumming by practicing his music everyday and playing through his frustration.
Andrew is so dedicated to playing the drums that he keeps playing on even when his hands start

Day shows dedication throughout Legend many times, much like Boxer did in Animal Farm. He
shows dedication towards what he believes in as well as dedication to his family and friends
throughout the novel. The text says: " I'm in a huge room filled with rows of gurneys and chemicals
boiling under metal hoods. Doctors and soldiers look up at me with startled faces. I grab the first
person I see–a young doctor standing close to the door. Before any of the soldiers can point a gun in
our direction, I whip out one of my knives and hold it close to the man's throat. The other doctors
and nurses freeze. Several of them scream. 'Shoot, and you'll hit him instead,' I call out to the

house and checking up on them and never travelling too far from home but Day does not show this
dedication to only keep his family safe, he shows it to Tess as well: "Kaede looks slowly around the
circle, shaking her head or sometimes tilting it to one side. I keep my eyes on Tess. She stands on
her tiptoes behind several taller people, straining for a good look. Then she taps them hesitantly on
their shoulders, says something, and pushes her way forward. I tighten my jaw at the sight. Next
time I'll join her. Then she can sit on my shoulders and finally get to see the fights, instead of calling
unwanted attention to herself. A second later, I bolt upright. Tess has pushed her way past one of the
larger gamblers. He shouts something at her, something angry, and before Tess can apologize, I see
him shove her roughly into the ring's center. She stumbles, and the crowd roars with laughter. Anger

My Work And Dedication Of My Father Works At Dupont...
There were many different degrees to to choose from but pursing a degree in Accounting stood out
to me because there are so many different paths you can go on to where you want to be in life. So
far, I've set many goals not only on the degree and jobs associated with it, but also goals for the
years to come in my life. Of course there will be a lot of responsibilities and hard work to come with
this major, but in the end hopefully all the hard work and dedication will pay out. I grew up in a
small town in West Virginia named Parkersburg where there were a decent amount of jobs but there
were to bigger companies in the area that pretty much made Parkersburg a suitable place to live.
Those two companies were DuPont Washington Works and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. My
mother works at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and my father works at DuPont. Growing up she
always told me accountants made good money and also received great benefits because it was a
government job. I never really knew much about accounting or the business world until I took a
business class and accounting class in high school which taught me a lot because I got to practice
accounting, ran a business in a 9–week simulator, and have an internship with State Farm, Dan

accounting degree. Now fast forward a couple months to where I am at now at West Virginia

Why Is Dedication Important
Being a senior in high school, I am just discovering the secret to being a successful athlete; one
cannot just show up to practice and expect a desired outcome. Dedication is the willingness and
drive to go beyond one's boundaries for one's desires. Playing for a softball team that has 19 state
championships and 27 consecutive regional titles, I have always been taught that dedication was the
key. A lot of time has been put into practices to prepare for all the great titles the team and I have
won. Practice, effort, and teamwork are the main reasons on why dedication is the real secret to
success. Showing up to a sporting event that you participate in, just to be present will not make
someone a successful athlete. As a young athlete my parents always forced me to attend practice, or
at least I felt that way. Looking back it was all because of the potential they saw in me as an athlete.
Playing on the varsity level in the eighth grade was a challenge, but it really opened my eyes to the
fact that dedication is the secret. Practicing day in and day out really drilled that into my head. If I
wanted to be good, I had to work for it. Others always say practice makes perfect, but really if you

resulted in her actions almost jeopardizing our goal of an undefeated regional title. She introduced

College Essay About Dedication
My greatest skill is dedication. Dedication is one of my priorities; once I start on a subject I stick to
it and finish through. I think dedication is a special skill to have because many people in the world
lack it. Dedication is committing and making sure you achieve what you started. I developed
dedication through a sport in high school. Softball was a sport I enjoyed, I went to the tryouts my
freshman year and tried my best but I did not get accepted onto the team. I was devastated at first
because softball sounded like an exciting sport to join and I was thinking that I probably would

any information regarding softball. In the beginning I told myself I shouldn't even try again because

that include first base, third base, pitching, and outfield. I have found that I am my best when I am in

Value Of Hard Work Essay
Hard work equals success in many people's eyes. Experiencing work with family, school, and in the
workplace has shown me the importance of hard work and dedication. Along with with that, I have
gained responsibility, experience, and balance. Although my experience has shown me the
importance of hard work and dedication, it has also helped me distinguish the risk of how the the
value of work can be taken for granted. I have not always had the right attitude towards work as a
whole, but I have learned to love the idea and application of it; with exceptions. As a child, up until
a certain point, I have always worked with my father in the restaurant business. My dad fell in love
with the restaurant business when he was younger. His dream was to own as many restaurants as he
could. The business started off small, but his dream came true overtime. We went from waking up
every morning in the summer selling tacos; to waking up and prepping for opening at "Hit The Spot
Cafe". I hated waking up so early, but my dad said I didn't have a choice. He gets up every day
whether he feels like it or not. My father has always worked nonstop, and he's the type to keep
himself busy. Over the years I've learned within my experience growing up in such a business, and
possibly most; it can be tough. Working with my dad taught me the value of working hard. His
dedication inspired me to wish to become just as focused with work. In all of the jobs I've acquired
outside of my dad's business, I gave

was all around me, the feeling of emptiness filled my heart faster than liquid fills a water bottle. This
was the second time my High School hockey team had lost in the state championships game. Losing
two times doesn 't only hurt the heart but it affects the community as well. As I made my way back
to the locker room I hugged my fellow seniors and their parents, and congratulated them on an
amazing high school career. As I was changing into my suit and tie, the feeling of failure overcame
me and I could tell the same for my fellow teammates. It was the worst feeling imaginable, all the
dedication I put into winning this state championship was stripped away and I couldn 't help but feel
sad. Cheer up Zach is all I heard for the next two days, as my father constantly tried to enliven my
spirit. My father has constantly been there for me, he has been my inspiration and my mentor over
the years. At a young age my father taught me the importance of work ethic and discipline. I have

Spiegelman's Maus is a graphic novel which explores events of the holocaust and the uniting of a
father and son. Though often overlooked the dedications play an integral role in better understanding
the text. The dedications do not influence the meaning of the book but do reinforce events in the
book. Spiegelman dedicates the first book to his mother as an attempt to rid himself of the guilt
associated with his mother's suicide. In an attempt to not have the same short comings as his father,
Art associates his most prized work with the most prized people in his life. Richieu is often

Spiegelman has presented his father's memoirs in a creative way by portraying racial groups as

the conventional sense, the book eternalizes the memoirs of Vladek and those around him.
The dedications are an essential part of the text as their meaning extends beyond the book.
Spiegelman uses them as a way to remember those that were close to him. This is noticed in the

Wisdom, Passion And Dedication Are The Necessity Traits To...

  • 1. Wisdom, passion and dedication are the necessity traits to... Wisdom, passion and dedication are the necessity traits to have when writing a good book in order to provide the reader with an experience to want more; to want to know more, read more and look into detail beyond the words written on the page. Jonathan Kozol provided just that and then some. Kozol took real life occurrences from some previous years and wrapped them into a well detailed layout of the struggles and occurrences that poor minority children once faced when trying to obtain an education giving the nation a real wake–up call. Although segregation was thought to have come and went, it was still occurring, dismantling the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling that had taken place within the previous years. The criminal justice system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kozol pointed out that it is hard to convince young people that they can learn and can become educated within their early years when they are continuously cordoned off by society that isn't sure they really can (p. 37). Sadly, they could have excelled but they often weren't provided with the opportunity. Within the next chapters, chapters 2 and 3, I began to really take into consideration Kozol's way of writing and point of views. The voices were coming to life and it was nearly as if I was there in that classroom watching this degrading event occur. Chapter 2 began the illustration of how corrupt the education system really was in that particular day and age (some odd 40–50 years ago and continues today). Although all children should serve as equals, they were not and do not. It was merely a totem pole of color, whites being on top and colored falling below and usually falling behind. He compares the inner–city schools portraying the characteristics that a totalitarian government was then present and the funding for education was very scarce and limited regardless of the how well the economy was doing. The iteration of how poorly the children were focused on was also present and the point was once noted within the reading that the expressiveness of children was often muted (p. 71). Children weren't allowed expression nor were they allowed activities outside of the lines. It was much like a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Disneyland Park: The Disney Dedication Plaque . Introduction. Disneyland Park: The Disney Dedication Plaque Introduction The Disneyland dedication plaque forms part of the most overlooked details in Disney parks. The plaque, which is located close to the anterior of the park not only sets the attitude for exploration but also offers words of inspiration. Notably, the plaque is signed by Walt Disney, the reigning executive at the time of Disneyland's opening. Most people that visit the park often fail to notice the plaque despite it being a nice way of welcoming visitors to Disneyland. At the time of its opening in 1955, many people thought that the park would fail considering Walt's emphasis on a theme park (Spence 1). However, other people recognized the opening of Disneyland as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specifically, the dedication plaque lies at the base of the flag pole in the park. Uniqueness of the Artifact The plaque that welcomes visitors into Disneyland is practically magical. The words inscribed in the plaque describe Walt's vision of the way people should feel when entering the apparently joyful place on earth (Spence 2). The Disneyland dedication plaque is not as exactly unique because replicas of the same artifact can be found in other Disney parks across the world. The plaques have brass powder implanted in them to give the metal used in their creation an authentic appearance. In addition to the replicas in other parks, companies such as QuestDesignCanada today produce replicas based on the original artifact in California. The replicas have an authentic appearance and come with a metal hanger for mounting to a wall. These replicas are great for Disneyland lovers and the fact that their aging process gives them a unique appearance is cherished. Mass Production of the Artifact As noted earlier, the Disneyland dedication plaque is not unique to the California Park because the idea was conveyed to the other Disney parks across the world. The 1971 Walt Disney World Wilson 3 dedication plaque acknowledges the life, talents, and philosophy of Walt. Similar to the Disneyland artifact, the plaque inspires people and welcomes them to a magical kingdom that accommodates the interests of persons of all ages. Similarly, the Tokyo ... • 9. Life And Dedication Of An Organization As I peered through the window of opportunity, which I thought would be an easy adventure, time and dedication surely proved me mistaken. One average senior–high day, I walk into the Human Services classroom and sit down at my desk. The class writes the daily five minute prompt about the service we are hoping to be involved in for FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) called, STAR (Student Taking Action with Recognition) events. After the prompt, the class sets up the desks to have our monthly FCCLA meeting. I, being the President, began the meeting with any house–keepings that needs to be discussed. Next, we progress the discussion to our chapter's current funds and finally begin to go into detail about STAR events. In an organized manner, we list the events and information pertaining to which people are planning on working in each group. I decide to work with Angela, who happens to be our chapter's Vice President, and Molly, the secretary, to focus our attention to the "Focus on Children" category. With much thought, we decide on the idea of researching the sugar content in beverages and directing the information toward late– elementary audiences. We create a few presentations and visuals to provide the students an accurate idea of the sugar content within their drinks. While constructing this project, we also call at least five of the elementary schools in the area. One of the schools responds and we are able to coordinate a few dates to present to ... • 13. Dedication And Emission: The Marathon Of Hope Dedication originated from the Latin word dedicare in the 14th century, meaning to devote, or to commit one's time and resources towards a task (Oxford Dictionary). Modern day usage of dedication is still applicable to the original definition, so little change has befallen the word. Despite also being associated with the Catholic church (to declare a church to be sacred), Oxford Dictionary defines the word as, "The quality of being committed to a task or purpose" (Oxford Dictionary). However, dedication's definition in the modern world has expanded to include not only commitment, but also trivial amounts of focus onto a task, too little to be considered a true commitment. Although the general application of dedication is to be focus one's time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some may say that tasks where people put any measure of sustained effort into is considered dedication. Others with the same conviction state that it is a word to reward people with, by saying that they are "dedicated," making people feel better. However, this definition, which fits on a whole spectrum of commitment, does not accurately commend the people who spend years of their lives pursuing their goals enough credit for their actions. The meaning of dedication is weakened by attaching the word to actions that are negligible compared to noteworthy achievements that took immense effort. • 26. Why Dedication Is Important Dedication is being committed to a task or purpose. Dedication is what gets you out of bed at 5 a.m in the morning to go swim 3 miles in water than feel like it should be ice, not water. Dedication is what makes you want to work harder at something you may not have mastered quiet yet. If you ask any pro athlete what got them to where they are today, 9 times out of 10 they will say dedication. RING! RING! RING! I wake to an alarm clock that reads 5:15 AM ringing in my ear. I swiftly get out of my bed, and put on my bathing suit. I dash downstairs, grab my quick breakfast, hop in the freezing car and prepare for the 2.5 hour ride to the swim meet. For example, during the spring of 2016, my Little League team had a great playoff run, but I had two birthday parties of very close friends. I decided that I would miss the first one, because if we didn't win we were out of the playoffs. That games I went 2–4 with two HRs, which include the walk–off HR. Smiling big, I knew that I would play in the game the next day, and miss my other friend's birthday party. The next day we lost, I was disappointed that I missed my friends party just to lose a game. Still, I felt a sense of pride that I was dedicated enough to miss a very fun party for something, we were far from guaranteed to win. In conclusion, dedication pays off. For example, with dedication to swimming I was able to qualify for meets that I would have never qualified for without endless practices, that required constant dedication. With dedication to learning jQuery, I have been able to develop apps that I would have been able to make with out pushing through weeks of learning. Dedication is the difference from good to ... The success of students would not be existent without special needs teachers. Special education teachers help students with disabilities fit in as best as they can by teaching them to do everyday things. These tasks can include brushing their teeth, going to the bathroom, and feeding themselves. Special education teachers put in a lot of work to create the best lifestyle for the students that they teach. Fourteen percent of the kids in the United States have special needs. Those fourteen percent need teachers to help them. Special Education requires a lot of education, daily work, tools, technology, and testing, but it is a very rewarding job. Special education can be a very confusing field and varies with the location and circumstances. Very few special education teachers work with students with severe disabilities ("Teachers–Special Education" 2). The majority of employees in the special education field work with mild to moderate disabilities (2). Most special education teachers work with students one–on–one in a normal classroom environment (2). There are a few teachers that work with their students in separate rooms aside from the student's normal classroom (3). There are very few special education teachers that work in residential places, at home, or in a hospital (2). There are some teachers that work with a baby at home (2). Harriet Tubman believed that dedication, which is passion and motivation, are the key to being a dreamer like she was. Dedication is the most important quality of leadership that Harriet Tubman used to get through the long hard journeys. Harriet Tubman's most essential leadership quality was her dedication because without it she wouldn't have made it very far on any of her journeys before she would lose all hope. • 42. Dedication And Dedication Of Dedication Bryce Curtis Mr. Moore Senior English December 14, 2015 Dedication Have you ever wanted to just give up on something or just wish you had never started it in the first place? We've all experienced this feeling at least once in our lifetime. I have felt this through the thick and thin of my school career, and sadly I have tended to be the one who wants to gives up a lot more often than I'd like to admit. However, it is always the fear of failing, and in my case, not graduating that reignites my dedication in order to succeed. Dedication is when you absolutely devote yourself to something, doing whatever it takes to keep pursuing your goal. It's more than a pursuit, it's a passionate perseverance. In order to be good at something, truly good at it, you have to be dedicated to it. It's more than trying to achieve the impossible, just so you can be the best. Everyone has that one thing that they are dedicated to. When you are dedicated, you don't care about the parties, or going out with your friends; you will stay at home on a Saturday night to accomplish your goal. Dedication is what leads you to success. Without it, you will never succeed. However, dedication doesn't always kick in right away. For example, my Sophomore year I realized I wasn't going to pass my English class unless I did something. I talked to my teacher and asked what I could do. And after looking at the grade book this was her reply, "Well Bryce, unless you can get a 121% on this next essay, I don't see you ... "I love the intensity and the relationship in football" Coach Lorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. "It's not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to me. I've been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time." From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio: He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family reasons last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A state championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992–94 and returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27–12 record with 5A state quarterfinal playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105–70. Even tough he lives in New Orleans, he drives an hour for his work every day. I had as I now think: vainly flattered myself that without very much bloodshed, it might be done." – John Brown (1859) Few abolitionists have shown the die–hard dedication that John Brown presented during the battle to end slavery. Most abolitionists, such as Frederick Douglas, focused on giving speeches to persuade people to see the light and bring slavery to an end. However John Brown appears to be the anomaly in the abolitionist's movement, he believed in the freedom of slaves so fervently that he was willing to raise arms against his fellow Americans. Brown took up his father's cross, and enlisted his sons to attack and kill five men in "Pottawattamie Creek" during May of "1856" ("John Brown"). Historian Paul Shakel asserts that he justified his murderous acts; when discussing the victims of Pottawattamie Creek Brown is quoted as saying, "they deserved to die, because they 'had committed murder in their hearts already, according to the Big Book'" (29). For an unknown reason he was not tried with murder and easily escaped the Kansas territory to further his campaign. This event was just the beginning of what would become John Brown's purge of blood to end slavery. Civil War researcher, Alfred J. Von Frank asserts that "As [abolitionists] transformed themselves and overcame existing social barriers, they reimagined their country as a pluralist society in which the standard of excellence depended on righteousness and benevolence rather than on skin color, sex, or material wealth" (142). While these are noble pursuits, the way in which they were achieved was severe. Although it remains evident through history, that very few social reforms have been achieved peacefully. John Brown truly did transform himself and his style of protests to more violent attempts as he gained ground. The Dedication Of Abigail Williams And Elizabeth Proctor Amber Chan American Lit I Ms. Crimmel March 6, 2015 The Dedication of Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor Arthur Miller creates many unforgettable characters in his play, The Crucible, to depict the historical events of the Salem witch trials. Although there are many other influential characters in the town of Salem that cause major events to happen during the trials and are eventually subject to their consequences, two women were most prominent. As a young, manipulative, vengeful, jealous, and selfish liar, Abigail Williams feels that she has superiority over everyone and uses this mindset to accomplish her malicious intentions. Elizabeth Proctor portrays a virtuous, selfless, and forgiving housewife who can often be cold towards people but still has the courage to face the people after finding out about her husband, John Proctor's, sin of committing adultery. Despite the numerous hardships they overcome throughout the play, both women continue to prove their determination towards achieving their respective goals. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller shows the true dedication of Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor through their love for John Proctor, realization of their role in the witch trials, and their influence on their surroundings. Although there are countless differences between Abigail Williams and Elizabeth Proctor, something they share is their love for John Proctor. • 62. What Is Child Dedication? Essay II. CHILD DEDICATION What is Child Dedication? It is the ceremonial act of publicly consecrating a child's life to God, undertaken by parents, during a worship service in the temple. Through this symbolic rite, parents, on one hand, promise to raise the child in the fear of the Lord, and the congregation, on the other hand, commits to help the parents achieve such a goal by keeping an eye on the child in the community and by encouraging them to bring the child to Sunday schools, worship services, and other church activities in relation with his Christian training. Why Do Major Protestant Churches Practice Child Dedication? Infant baptism as some churches practice it today dates back to the second century of the Christian era. However, the Bible does not account any infant baptism. When biblical passages such as Acts 16:15, 33 and Acts 18:8 mention the baptism of a whole household, we can assume that there might have been some infants or children among them. And yet, it still remains an assumption. As a result, many protestant churches do not practice infant baptism, they instead practice the ceremony of baby or child dedication. This idea of child dedication is found in the first chapter of the first book of Samuel where Hannah, after giving birth to Samuel, took him to the temple to give him back to the Lord. Dedicating a child to the Lord is publicly acknowledging that the child is a gift from Him and at the same he is a gift you don't want to solely raise as parents. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each clip covers a different concept and the paper will describe in detail how each concept relates to the video being mentioned. During the first clip chosen from the Big Bang Theory, it showed four friends (Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj) trying to decide on where to go for dinner and a movie. They are trying to find a location that satisfies their "needs" for dinner, concession stand food, and a reasonable start time for the movie. They begin to have difficulties mostly due to one particular member of the group and the criteria he has set. Right away there is trouble with the main characters that perfectly represents FIRO–B theory. This theory "examines differences in how people relate to one another based on their needs to express and receive feelings of inclusion, control, and affection" (citation). Many times the man of the house, usually the father or husband, believes it's his duty to protect his wife and kids. No matter what the circumstances are, his family is his first priority. From Rags to Riches "Families from low–Socioeconomic status communities are less likely to have the financial resources or time availability to provide children with academic support" (National Center for Education Statistics, 2008).This quote difinitively provides the necessary information regarding attending post–secondary education. Even though this quote also seems very logical, it proves to be a breaking point for Americans in their decision to attend a post–secondary education college or technical school. The Everglades; a treasured river Marjory Stoneman Douglas (April 7, 1890 – May 14, 1998) was an American journalist, writer and environmentalist known for her staunch defense of the Florida Everglades against draining and development. Moving to Miami as a young woman to work for The Miami Herald, Douglas became a freelance writer, producing over a hundred short stories that were published in popular magazines. Her most influential work was the book The Everglades: River of Grass (1947), which redefined the popular conception of the Everglades as a treasured river instead of a worthless swamp. Florida was becoming a booming area and more people came and more acres of the Everglades were cleared for farms, ranches, housing, roads, and railways. And more and more; the Everglades were dying (Miami Museum of Science, 1995). Douglas was quickly drawn into the debate over the future of the Everglades. Many people, including Florida's governor, Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, were in favor of draining the Everglades. But others, like Frank Stoneman, disagreed. Marjory's father, Frank Stoneman supported the preservation of the Glades, an idea that made the developers furious. He wanted this wilderness area to be left untouched. Her earliest notions about the Everglades came directly from her father. She became convinced that the Glades should be preserved in a natural state. She joined a committee to establish the area as a national park, which would give the Everglades the protection of the federal government. Finally there was a public outcry for change. "Now that it was almost too late," wrote Marjory, "men began to realize that the water supply was never just a local problem. To me, dedication is more general. It is chasing a dream or goal relentlessly yet selflessly. It has shaped me into the person I am today. Dedication emerged in me when I first started school and competing in athletics, and it has led me to every major achievement. Twelve years after dedication started to model me into who I am today, I realized it was shaping my life when I became a National Merit Scholar and placed eighth at state wrestling, both in February of 2016. I looked back to all the times where dedication is all that kept me on the track of achieving my goals and where dedication paid off. I didn't choose to value dedication; external factors grew it up inside of me. Every youth soccer league practice and game, every wrestling practice and tournament, and every class I had were factors in the development of dedication. It's clear what made me become so dedicated. The question to ask myself is why these experiences instilled dedication in me. The first place to look is wrestling. It's a sport that can build or destroy character. Wrestling builds confidence. This confidence can grow or shrink depending on the outcome of competition. Some people become overconfident and others settle into the perfect amount of confidence. Growing up in the streets of Newark was not easy for any child, pre–teen, teen, and adult, especially for Davis but with the three D's to success he speaks of in The Pact: Three Young Men Make a Promise and Fulfill a Dream, shows that anyone can succeed when you have friends to help you through it all. Even though Davis did not have a perfect childhood, determination, dedication and discipline would help push him. Davis, as a child, has seen what describes a dysfunctional family and has witnessed many traits of physical, mental, and verbal abuse between his mother and father; "Your daddy ain't shit," and, "Your mama ain't shit" (Davis 19). In some instances, the violence was so severe that the use of a firearm or the destruction of property occurred. Davis' father would divorce from his mother but, attempt to be there for his children, yet the divorce still took an emotional toll on the kids. As for Davis, he would bury his feelings, to get over the divorce. Davis acknowledged his mother lacked an adequate education, thus, this motivated him to become well educated. However, acquiring adult responsibilities, such as writing and making bank deposits and reading important documents to his illiterate was a grand task for a young child. Times were getting harder for Davis' family and lack of funds meant utilities could not be paid; his family would be powerless. Even through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 114. Elements Of Dedication In The Moviehiplash The third most essential element is dedication. You have to be dedicated to doing something in order to succeed. "People on the path to greatness realize they won't be feeling up to do the work each and every day. There will be days where you want to sleep in, avoid doing your work, or keep yourself distracted" (Awoskia). This is saying that you have to stick with whatever it is you want to succeed at and push the obstacles that are in your way along the path. You must stay on path, don't give in to distractions or let yourself slack off. It is when you start letting distractions overwhelm you and you start slacking off when you lose your dedication to strive to achieve whatever it is you are trying to achieve. Dedication is an important key element that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As evidence in the work by Chazelle, Damien did in the film Whiplash, Andrew shows his dedication for drumming by practicing his music everyday and playing through his frustration. Andrew is so dedicated to playing the drums that he keeps playing on even when his hands start bleeding from his playing the drums so much. Another example of Andrew's dedication is when he had forgot his drum sticks and so he goes back to the car dealership to grab them so he can play his part in the Dunellen Competition. On his way back to the school from getting his drum sticks, he gets in a car accident and the first thing he is worried about is getting his drum sticks and making it to the competition on time. Andrew does not let anything get in the way of his drumming. The most important thing to Andrew is his drumming. Just like Andrew's passion and dedication for drumming, we all have something that we are extremely passionate about and dedicated to, and will not let anything stand in our way of not being able to do whatever it is we are passionate about. He shows dedication towards what he believes in as well as dedication to his family and friends throughout the novel. The text says: " I'm in a huge room filled with rows of gurneys and chemicals boiling under metal hoods. Doctors and soldiers look up at me with startled faces. I grab the first person I see–a young doctor standing close to the door. Before any of the soldiers can point a gun in our direction, I whip out one of my knives and hold it close to the man's throat. The other doctors and nurses freeze. Several of them scream. 'Shoot, and you'll hit him instead,' I call out to the soldiers from beneath my handkerchief. Their guns are focused on me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Day is constantly visiting his old house and checking up on them and never travelling too far from home but Day does not show this dedication to only keep his family safe, he shows it to Tess as well: "Kaede looks slowly around the circle, shaking her head or sometimes tilting it to one side. I keep my eyes on Tess. She stands on her tiptoes behind several taller people, straining for a good look. Then she taps them hesitantly on their shoulders, says something, and pushes her way forward. I tighten my jaw at the sight. Next time I'll join her. Then she can sit on my shoulders and finally get to see the fights, instead of calling unwanted attention to herself. A second later, I bolt upright. Tess has pushed her way past one of the larger gamblers. He shouts something at her, something angry, and before Tess can apologize, I see him shove her roughly into the ring's center. There were many different degrees to to choose from but pursing a degree in Accounting stood out to me because there are so many different paths you can go on to where you want to be in life. So far, I've set many goals not only on the degree and jobs associated with it, but also goals for the years to come in my life. Of course there will be a lot of responsibilities and hard work to come with this major, but in the end hopefully all the hard work and dedication will pay out. I grew up in a small town in West Virginia named Parkersburg where there were a decent amount of jobs but there were to bigger companies in the area that pretty much made Parkersburg a suitable place to live. Those two companies were DuPont Washington Works and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. My mother works at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service and my father works at DuPont. Growing up she always told me accountants made good money and also received great benefits because it was a government job. I never really knew much about accounting or the business world until I took a business class and accounting class in high school which taught me a lot because I got to practice accounting, ran a business in a 9–week simulator, and have an internship with State Farm, Dan McPherson. It was safe to say, I would be attending West Virginia University in pursuit of an accounting degree. Now fast forward a couple months to where I am at now at West Virginia University where I am enrolled in accounting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 130. Why Is Dedication Important Being a senior in high school, I am just discovering the secret to being a successful athlete; one cannot just show up to practice and expect a desired outcome. Dedication is the willingness and drive to go beyond one's boundaries for one's desires. Playing for a softball team that has 19 state championships and 27 consecutive regional titles, I have always been taught that dedication was the key. A lot of time has been put into practices to prepare for all the great titles the team and I have won. Practice, effort, and teamwork are the main reasons on why dedication is the real secret to success. Showing up to a sporting event that you participate in, just to be present will not make someone a successful athlete. As a young athlete my parents always forced me to attend practice, or at least I felt that way. Looking back it was all because of the potential they saw in me as an athlete. Playing on the varsity level in the eighth grade was a challenge, but it really opened my eyes to the fact that dedication is the secret. Practicing day in and day out really drilled that into my head. If I wanted to be good, I had to work for it. Others always say practice makes perfect, but really if you do ... Having an outcast to this theory can jeopardize the potential success of a team in their season. I witnessed this first hand in the 2013 softball season with one of my teammates who did not love the game of softball. This resulted in her actions almost jeopardizing our goal of an undefeated regional title. She introduced the team to bad habits at practice and was never dedicated to accomplishing the team's goal. Fortunately for my team, she ended up quitting right before our title could have been lost. This is a prime example of how dedication to one's team can determine your team's ... • 138. College Essay About Dedication My greatest skill is dedication. Dedication is one of my priorities; once I start on a subject I stick to it and finish through. I think dedication is a special skill to have because many people in the world lack it. Dedication is committing and making sure you achieve what you started. I developed dedication through a sport in high school. Softball was a sport I enjoyed, I went to the tryouts my freshman year and tried my best but I did not get accepted onto the team. I was devastated at first because softball sounded like an exciting sport to join and I was thinking that I probably would never had made the team because I had no experience of softball at all, I honestly did not even know any information regarding softball. In the beginning I told myself I shouldn't even try again because the girls had already knew each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I went to the summer practices, every single one of them and dedicated myself to finish what I had started. During summer practices we were just discovering our greatest skills. I tried almost all the positions that include first base, third base, pitching, and outfield. I have found that I am my best when I am in the outfield. When you are in the outfield you really need to be focused on the ball because once it is hit you have no idea if it is going to fly right in your area, you need to react fast. • 142. Value Of Hard Work Essay Hard work equals success in many people's eyes. Experiencing work with family, school, and in the workplace has shown me the importance of hard work and dedication. Along with with that, I have gained responsibility, experience, and balance. Although my experience has shown me the importance of hard work and dedication, it has also helped me distinguish the risk of how the the value of work can be taken for granted. I have not always had the right attitude towards work as a whole, but I have learned to love the idea and application of it; with exceptions. As a child, up until a certain point, I have always worked with my father in the restaurant business. My dad fell in love with the restaurant business when he was younger. His dream was to own as many restaurants as he could. The business started off small, but his dream came true overtime. We went from waking up every morning in the summer selling tacos; to waking up and prepping for opening at "Hit The Spot Cafe". I hated waking up so early, but my dad said I didn't have a choice. He gets up every day whether he feels like it or not. My father has always worked nonstop, and he's the type to keep himself busy. Over the years I've learned within my experience growing up in such a business, and possibly most; it can be tough. Working with my dad taught me the value of working hard. His dedication inspired me to wish to become just as focused with work. In all of the jobs I've acquired outside of my dad's business, I gave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All around me I could see my teammates, my brothers, kids I go out everyday and work my ass off for crying and shaking their heads. The look of defeat was all around me, the feeling of emptiness filled my heart faster than liquid fills a water bottle. This was the second time my High School hockey team had lost in the state championships game. Losing two times doesn 't only hurt the heart but it affects the community as well. As I made my way back to the locker room I hugged my fellow seniors and their parents, and congratulated them on an amazing high school career. As I was changing into my suit and tie, the feeling of failure overcame me and I could tell the same for my fellow teammates. It was the worst feeling imaginable, all the dedication I put into winning this state championship was stripped away and I couldn 't help but feel sad. Cheer up Zach is all I heard for the next two days, as my father constantly tried to enliven my spirit. Though often overlooked the dedications play an integral role in better understanding the text. The dedications do not influence the meaning of the book but do reinforce events in the book. Spiegelman dedicates the first book to his mother as an attempt to rid himself of the guilt associated with his mother's suicide. In an attempt to not have the same short comings as his father, Art associates his most prized work with the most prized people in his life.
