1. Since completing my preliminary task in September, I have gained knowledge of
the four key elements in Media Studies: Mise-en-scene, Camera Shots, Sound
and Editing.
I have developed an understanding of camera shots and editing techniques used
by media professionals, including the differences between continuity and
montage editing. I have also learn about the 180 degree rule, match-on action
and shot-reverse-shot and how these help to create continuity in a piece of
moving image media.
I am now also familiar with ambient sound, which helps to create continuity to a
piece; as well as the terms synchronous and asynchronous sound. I have also
expanded my knowledge from previously about mise-en-scene and how setting,
props and characters body language can affect the way in which the audience
make perceptions and judgements about a film.
