Q6
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. • During the course of AS media, I have learnt to
use a number of softwares, equipments and
editing tools such as: The razor tool, uploading
and importing footage, voice overs, music (audio
network), animations which link one clip to
another, volume (wave forms), using the camera
to record our film openings, blogger, tripod,
memory card etc.
3. Blogger I learnt how to post pictures,
videos and other links. It also
helped me keep a record of my
progress.
Audio network I used this to find songs and I learnt
how to save them and embed them in
my film opening.
Camera/ sounds I learnt how to use the camera and
where the SD card goes. I also
discovered how to record a voice over
for my film and controlling the volume
of the music.
Final cut express I was taught how to use this software to
edit our film openings and I discovered
that the razor tool cuts down bits of
footage.
Filming (shots) During the filming I experimented with
a variety of shots which I learnt during
the course. It helped me to know which
shots were best for the scenes as it
allows the audience to connect with the
characters.
4. Editing- Before and After
• At the beginning of the year we
were told to work in groups and
we had to use Final cut.
• Due to little experience with the
tools, I found it slightly difficult
but as soon as I got the hang of
it, I knew how to use simple
techniques like: shot reverse
shot, close ups, long shots, razor
tool and putting the footage in
order with the music on top. All
of these elements were used in
the ‘Life on Mars’ exercise and
the Continuity exercise.
• Once we were set the task of a
film opening and told to edit our
footage, I had a bigger amount of
knowledge when it came to the
rules, shots, tools and other
software programs.
• I began to know exactly which
bits of footage I needed and
which bits were slowing my film
down.
• Examples of shots I included: A
high angle shot of the
protagonist as she was twirling
around in a girly dress, a point of
view shot from the protagonist as
her glasses were being taken off,
and an off the shoulder shot
from the ‘dream guy’ revealing
the girl’s reaction.
