2. This is my final College
Magazine front cover.
This does not fit my original
plan although there are many
similarities.
3. Masthead
The font I used for my masthead is ‘Arial’. This did not covey with the results I got
for my TA Survey – as these results stated that Tahoma was the most popular font.
However, I preferred this font because it is simple. This means that it is not the
main thing that is focused on when you see the magazine cover. In addition, this
font is used a lot around Sixth Form which means that it will be recognisable and
relevant to the Target Audience.
4. Colours
The colours I used differ from that of my plan.
I changed the colours because the colours that I
used on my plan did not contrast with the
background like the colours i decided to use. I
preferred the colours I used because the contrast
means that the text is therefore more noticeable
and can be read from further away. The magazine
would then be more likely to get picked up off a
table. Whereas, if the colours did not contrast
with the background then the text would be
harder to read and as a result of this – less likely
to be noticed from afar.
5. What do I like?
• I like the image that I used for my front cover –
it breaks the normal convention of ‘the model
looking at the camera’. This could have certain
connotations such as; looking in to the future
or deep in thought. This is relevant to a College
Magazine as being at college and completing A
Levels is the start of the future from people
aged 16-19.
6. What do I dislike?
• One thing I will definitely change when doing
my music magazine is the colours. I will set a
definite colour scheme which will make the
magazine look much more professional.
• Also, I will edit the image a little more to make
the model look more professional. Also, the
image will have a very different pose – as the
Target Audience will be different as certain
music styles are for a niche number of people.
