Standardized Testing Flaws
A major issue that both teachers and students find with American schools is the overemphasis on
standardization. One example that can be found on this is the excessive use of standardized tests. In
the United States, the average schoolchild will take a total of 112 mandatory standardized tests, a
number that has many educators and parents concerned that "too much emphasis has been placed"
on standardization (Layton; Strauss). For example, standardization has placed too much emphasis on
test–taking and scoring high on mandated examinations rather than actual learning (Wright). And
even though both federal and state governments have policies of standardization in education,
multiple studies have found that "there is no evidence" that such practices ... Show more content on

One notable example is in Finland, which is "one of the top performers" in education internationally
(Zhao). In contrast to the United States' "relentless standardized test prep," Finland "doesn't waste
time or money" on mass standardization (Doyle). Although there is still progress monitoring,
teachers are given the "flexibility and autonomy" to customize how their students learn and rather
than national standards, local governments are given more control over education (Zhao).
Concerning this, many education experts advocate that the American public education system is
"ripe for a re–boot" and would benefit in "emulat[ing]" such a system like Finland has (Kuznia).
Doing so would allow for teachers to be able to develop individually focused lesson plans that more
effectively benefit their students as well as ensure that students are learning content – rather than
learning the test. In other words, officials on education in Finland take almost the complete opposite
stance on standardization than those in the United States – a move that has allowed Finnish students
to consistently score top in subjects such as math and science in the international community
(Doyle; Zhao). And given that American students consistently score below average in the same
assessments – it is clear that the United States should also take advantage of the same benefits by
also following this policy of increased

Company Overview
From their innovative products to their large global involvement, PepsiCo is a company that is
constantly growing and shaping the industry. It is a leading food and beverage company that
operates as a manufacturing service as it makes it's own products and distributes them. PepsiCo's
current Chairman is Indra K. Nooyi and their headquarters are in Purchase, New York. The
corporation has around 274,000 employees and PepsiCo is regarded very highly on multiple Forbes
lists and is extremely popular around the globe. The company PepsiCo was established after the
merge of both Pepsi–Cola and Frito–Lay in 1965. The original beverage company, Pepsi–Cola, was
created in the late nineteenth century. It is known as a mainly beverage focused company, but there
are many more brands and products associated with PepsiCo other than beverages and it has an
extremely diverse portfolio. Some of their brands are Gatorade, Doritos, Quaker, and Lay's. PepsiCo
is regarded as having monopolistic competition despite Pepsi and Coke indefinitely controlling the
beverage industry, making it extremely difficult for others to join the industry. These two companies
have large tension between each other and product differentiation is a large part of their respective
competitive strategies. Although their products are not much different from each other, they are
perceived to differ from each other in order to persuade consumers to lean towards either company.

Complaint Against West Corporation And Wtc ( A Subsidiary...
Under California state law, do diverse citizens who only conduct business communications via
electronically or telephonically fulfill the minimum contacts requirement that would allow the
California Superior Court to assert personal jurisdiction of Mary?
Rule
In West Corp. v. Superior Court, 116 Cal. App. 4th 1167 (Cal. App. 4th Dist. 2004), a California
resident, Patricia Sanford, filed a class action complaint against West Corporation and WTC (a
subsidiary of West Corp.), telemarketing firms organized in Delaware and headquartered in
Nebraska, alleging causes of action for: (1) violation of the consumers legal remedies act; (2)
unlawful, fraudulent, and unfair business practices; (3) untrue and/or dishonest advertising; (4)
conversion; (5) unjust enrichment; (6) fraud and deceit; and (7) negligent misrepresentation.
Essentially, one of West's telemarketers had misrepresented a product during a sales pitch in which
the caller (Sanford) had purchased the product over the phone. West claims that the California court
could not assert personal jurisdiction over them because they did not maintain any offices or
employees in California, was not licensed to do business in California, nor did they own any
property located in California. Moreover, West motioned the court to quash the service of summons;
however, the court denied the request and ruled that the court was authorized to assert personal
jurisdiction over their corporation.

Overview of the WARN Act
For so many years, this nation has been creating policies and laws to protect the people and their
way of life. One particular law that was passed still creates a lot of confusion on whether this law
pertains to them or not. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a
federal law to protect workers, their families, and society from sudden or unforeseen job losses due
to plant closings and massive layoffs. The WARN Act was originally enacted on August 4, 1988, but
it evidentially became effective on February 4, 1989 (Department of Labor, 2013). Unlike other
laws that are enforced by certain government or federal agencies, the WARN Act in which an
employee, their representative, or a government official has the ... Show more content on

The Department of Energy (DOE) concluded there were not enough sufficient benefits being offered
to the taxpayers for them to extend the enrichment at the plant (USEC). With the increasing cost of
production resulting from power consumption and the decreasing prices in nuclear fuel, the USEC
felt that it was in their best interest to begin the process of layoffs in order to continue operations
into the next year while trying to manage inventory, meet customer orders, as well as meeting the
turnover requirements with the DOE on its lease (USEC, 2013). To prepare themselves, the USEC
utilized the provisions of the WARN Act to properly commence with their scheduled layoff while
providing proper notice to their employees despite the many years of excellent performance from its
workforce. While the act may provide some control of policy, it can cause quite of bit of confusion
for certain departments of the government. As discussed previously, the WARN Act provides
businesses with a safeguard measure to utilize in the event of a shutdown or mass layoffs, but for the
federal government, many questions came about in light of the recent furloughs and shutdowns. The
WARN Act states that businesses must provide their employees with proper notice, but the furloughs
tested that notion due to being unsure of when exactly the furloughs were going to take place. I am

Example Of Flexible Work Schedules
Flexible Work Schedule The beginning of work life started at the break of dawn. Most workers were
bound to their work for as long as daylight was available (Chung). During the Industrial Revolution
employees worked in factories on an assembly line(Chung). Workers clocked in at the same time,
took lunch at the same time, and clocked out at the same time (Chung). They worked as if they were
part of the machine (Chung). In modern times employee's work within office buildings similar to
assembly line workers they have a fixed schedule and work towards the ultimate goal of the
organization (Chung). In modern days corporations are considering the benefits of a flexible work
schedule because it can contribute to a successful work life balance by enriching families,
improving an employee's health and improving production. Modern technology such as cell phones,
tablets, and computers permits a more flexible work schedule because it allows employees to stay
connected to the office even if they are miles away (Chung).
Alternative work schedule are schedules does not fit the 8–hr day, 40–hr week definition (Baltes et
al. 496). Some examples of common alternative work schedules include flexible working hours,
compressed work weeks, part time, and telecommuting (Baltes et al. 496). Alternative work
schedules, such as flextime and compressed work weeks, have been adopted by many organizations
over the past several decades (Baltes et al. 496). "A recent report that surveyed 1,035

The Nuclear Terrorism Threat and the Aum Shinrikyo Cult
Until the mid seventies, the term nuclear terror was used predominately to describe the threat of a
nuclear attack by the Soviet Union. Since then, however, it has taken on a whole new meaning
which many security experts feel poses a more serious threat to national security. In the past few
decades, formal terrorist organizations have exploded planes out of the sky, bombed US military and
diplomatic facilities abroad, and with the World Trade Center and Oklahoma City bombing
incidents, they have even launched attacks on American soil.
Yet until 20 March 1995 when five members of the Aum Shinrikyo cult released sarin nerve gas in
the Tokyo subway system, the world had not seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

believe that salvation will only be achieved after Armageddon, even for those who are killed in the
process. In spite of its religious nature, Aum's leadership structure was organized in the form of a
ministerial cabinet patterned after the Japanese government.
Since its establishment in 1987, the Aum organization expanded physically, geographically, and
financially. It is believed that at its height, the group had over 65,000 members, yet only 10,000 of
these were located in Japan. Aum had a large representation in Russia, approximately three times the
number of followers in Japan and half of its total membership worldwide. By the end of 1994, there
were six Aum Shinrikyo branches in Moscow alone and another eleven offices outside the capital
city. On a smaller scale, Aum established branches in Germany and the US and claimed small
groups of followers in Australia, Belarus, and the Ukraine. The organization's financial assets were

Quasi Contracts
INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS:–
Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which
have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover
money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the
defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he
defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the
extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual
liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract.
This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the
purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED–IN–FACT CONTRACT:
The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by
the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed
that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for "jus
naturale". Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits
unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston
v. Downes, 'I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not
stretching, lest I should endanger it' thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling
within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy.
Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust
benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the
form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield's views were
challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 "the various actions
grouped under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the
common law were inevitable

The Chaco And Its Effects On Indigenous Peoples
Much of the Chaco is still inhabited by indigenous people who often do not have rights to the
territory they are on. Development brought on by actions from organizations like the IIRSA can be
devastating to the indigenous people. Natural resource companies can displace communities. They
can also harm the indigenous people by extracting resources which the indigenous rely on for their
way of life. The IIRSA is attempting to boost economic development by promoting resource
extraction and agriculture production, but in doing so they are harming many communities that need
the Chaco's resources to survive. According to a USAID Issue Brief about Tenure and Indigenous
Peoples "new infrastructure to improve access to markets, facilitate trade, and promote economic
growth" leads to an increase in demand for land. This new infrastructure makes it easier for "settlers,
merchants, and illegal loggers to clear forests and settle in indigenous territories." The USAID brief
also mentions how this infrastructure has both directly and indirectly caused negative effects in the
Gran Chaco region. They report how small–scale illegal loggers invading indigenous titled lands
"follow[ed] the new transoceanic highway built as part of the IIRSA development plan, which
threatens indigenous peoples in South America through interlinked set of dams, canals, and multiple

Losers and Winners of Globalization Essay
'Despite the views of many optimists, there are clearly losers as well as winners from the process of
globalization.'
The statement at the head of the page assumes that Globalization creates both winners and losers.
This is a view shared by many, but not all, theorists and commentators. There are many trends of
thought regarding exactly who the winners and losers may be as well as what may be considered a
prize or a punishment (e.g. some may sight the availability of McDonalds fast food throughout
France an enrichment and some may see it as an unwelcome and unsavoury invasion.) Comparison
between these opinions paints an interesting picture of what Globalization is, what certain parties
want it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are various definitions of what 'Globalization' is, and the effect it has on the world. Globalists
believe Globalization is a real and evident process. They argue that examples of a significant shift in
the geography of social relations can be seen in terms of economics, culture and politics. For
example the recent effects that the US economy's down turn had on the share prices of British
companies who trade and deal largely within US markets. We can see that international trade and
investment has increased in recent years with many companies (notable many of those within the
FT500) having bases and influence in many different countries e.g. Rupert Murdoch's global media
empire, News Corporation, which operates within nine different media on six different continents.
Culturally we can see everyday examples of what Globalists would call Globalization. In Britain we
eat McDonalds and Sushi, wear Issey Miyake perfume, watch Manga films and play Sony
Playstation games. Politically nation states do not hold ultimate power over all policies and all
behaviour as a whole. National governments have joined to create larger international organizations
e.g. United Nations or G8 (USA, Japan, Germany, France, UK, Italy and Canada, with the recent
addition of Russia). Globalization, and the Northern Territories embracing of it, allows the

the corporate power of Halliburton and other transnational organizations that were destroying third

with Halliburton through his previous NSA connections in the U.S. intelligence services. In this
manner, Perkins (2004) defines the underlying economic motives of the Bush Administration to

Reassessment of International Instruments in the Field of...
The desire to change places is one of the main features of the person. More than half a century ago
with the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, freedom of movement obtained the
international recognition. Since 1990s, many governments have begun to recognize the disparity of
increasingly complex nature of current migration flows with traditional institutional and legal
systems of handling immigration, according to which each category of migrants received its clear
and unambiguous definition. This concern has led to a reassessment of international instruments in
the field of migration.

(2002).
There are studies in which the authors interpret this relocation as not just a spatial movement of
masses of people, but also as a dynamic "offensive", the infiltration of ethnicities and cultures,
mixing of which with the ethnic groups and cultures of the host countries may not always have
predictable effects and features. At the same time, according to many experts, neither North America
nor Europe in the near future are able to do without a constant inflow of immigrants from as far east
as Asia, as far south as Africa and Latin America.
A direct consequence of the large–scale migration has been the actual formation of multinational
states, accompanied by the fact that immigrants enter mainly the lower layers of the host society,
which makes the Western countries a society, social rank, and file of which are formed by the
national minorities.
In such situations, the social world is closely related to the "national question" and the nature of the
relationship arising between indigenous and migrant population, causing concern about the success
or failure of the integration of immigrants into the local society.
Positive and negative features
An important feature of contemporary migration is mass illegal immigration. Scientists attribute this
phenomenon to the demand for a cheap maximum labor force (less expensive than local the local
population), imposed primarily by the transnational

Case Study Of The Iran Nuclear Program
To: Secretary of State
From: Gregory J. Abide
Date: November 27th, 2017
PROBLEM:
The current IAEA inspections to verify compliance of safe nuclear activities under the NPT do not
provide timely enough detection to safeguard against military conversion by countries such as Iran.
SOLUTION:
The United States uses the Iran Deal and its attempted strengthening as the mechanism to modernize
IAEA safeguards for all countries in order to save the NPT.
BACKGROUND:
The issues that have been encountered with the Iran nuclear program are symptoms of a larger
problem when it comes to enrichment, reprocessing, bulk holding of nuclear fuel, and other
activities deemed "safe" by the IAEA. Due to the inherent danger and dual purpose of current safe ...

Shortly after ratifying its agreement with the IAEA in 1992, North Korea refused requests for IAEA
inspections in 1993 of two sites based upon evidence that North Korea had been cheating on its
commitments and had a small stockpile undeclared plutonium. Following this, the US negotiated the
1994 Agreed Framework with North Korea and the IAEA. Throughout the decade, North Korea's
nuclear program seemed to abide by the program, despite multiple violations of banned ballistic
missile research and testing. North Korea declared its withdrawal from the NPT in 2003 following
allegations of clandestine nuclear research in 2002, and eventually conducted its first successful
nuclear weapons test in 2006.
Iran has pursued what it claims to be a peaceful nuclear program since prior to the Iranian

Imperialism Essay
Imperialism was reborn in the West with the emergence of the modern nation–state and the age of
exploration and discovery. It is to this modern type of empire building that the term imperialism is
quite often restricted. Colonies were established not only in more or less sparsely inhabited places
where there were few or no highly integrated native states (e.g., North America and Africa) but also
in lands where ancient civilizations and states existed (e.g., India, Malaya, Indonesia, and the Inca
lands of South America). The emigration of European settlers to people the Western Hemisphere and
Africa, known as colonization , was marked by the same attitude of assumed superiority on the part
of the newcomers toward the native populations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eastward spread of Russia after the 16th cent. and the westward spread of the United States may
also be termed imperialistic, although the United States did not actually acquire colonial possessions
until the Spanish–American War. In the late 19th cent. Italy, Germany, and Japan also developed
imperial ambitions; these nations, like the older colonial powers, were moved by a variety of aims,
including commercial penetration, military glory, and diplomatic advantage.
Imperial nations built their empirial fortunes by plundering the world of it's vast resources. Silver
from the mines of South America, spices from Indonesian islands, Jade from ancient China, and
even the trade of human beings from across Africa helped pay for the gigantic palaces, museums,
theatres, cathedrals, municipal buildings, and for almost everything else that was considered
"western civilization". For centuries, European greed enriched one small continent at the expense of
the rest of the planet. Throughout history, The West convinced itself that its cause was the only just
one, its religions the only one that lead to God, and its economic institutions of greed, called
'capitalism' or a 'free market economy,' the only true expression of human nature.
At its best, European imperialism brought economic expansion and new standards of official

Kim Jong Un And His Current Leadership
The future remains somewhat vague for Kim Jong–un and his current leadership as the Supreme
leader of the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea. Foreign Policy scholars and analysts
believe that he will fail to control his country which could lead to its inevitable collapse. If and
when North Korea collapses the responsibilities will undoubtedly fall on the shoulders of the United
States. Unfortunately many Americans are still feeling fatigued given the trillions that were spent on
rebuilding Iraq during the war and the thousands of lives lost as a result of the War. If the United
States was put into a position to intervene; the nation should not hesitate in building a consensus at
home and an international coalition abroad in order to construct a proper strategy to avoid any
possible mishandling's (Harrington & Ramberg). It's quite feasible given South Korea's transition
from an authoritarian regime into a democratic nation whose economy is highly industrialized. In
2013 the RAND Corporation commenced a study which examined the problems that could possibly
arise if North Korea were to collapse in the not too distant future. In 2006 the South Korean defense

Climate Change, Coal, And Nuclear Power
Climate Change, Coal, and Nuclear Power
Expanding the generation of electricity by nuclear fission is the most effective way to reduce global
climate change, which is a threat to U.S. national security. Rising sea levels, more extreme storms,
heat waves, and drought, increases global conflict and instability. Climate change aggravates
poverty, feeds political volatility, and allows more safe havens for terrorist activity abroad. Reducing
greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide, across the globe is the only viable way at
present to slow the effects of climate change. Increasing our use of nuclear power, which produces
electricity without air pollution, is critical to those efforts.

Therefore, the U.S. policy toward nuclear power is decidedly a national security issue. But,
unfortunately, today in in the United States, the future for nuclear energy is not bright.
Failed Nuclear Renaissance in the United States
More than 30 years ago, nuclear energy was poisoned in the eyes of most Americans after the partial
reactor meltdown at the Three Mile Island plant in Pennsylvania. Anti–nuclear sentiment swelled
while construction of new reactors stalled. Fears of nuclear power were further confirmed after the
1986 accident at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in the Soviet Union, and later reaffirmed by the 2011
Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan. The development of new nuclear power screeched to a halt
after Fukushima, which froze Japan's nuclear industry and caused hundreds of thousands of
Japanese to evacuate the area surrounding the plant.
However, just a decade ago, energy experts preached a revival of the nuclear energy industry in the
United States and other countries. Buoyed by concerns about climate change and estimates of
increasing energy demand, producing electricity through fission was highly touted. In a public
opinion poll taken in 1988, just 30 percent of Americans supported the building of new nuclear
power facilities. However, by the spring of 2010, that number had jumped to 62 percent.

Social Responsibility at the Target Corporation
Social Responsibility and the Target Corporation Companies today are heavily influenced by the
demands of customers and stakeholders. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to the social
and environmental responsibility policies and practices developed by an organization to increase its
positive influence and reduce its negative activity towards society (Parks, 2008). The business
approach and corporate philosophy of an organization is easily altered due to economic pressures,
technological improvement and stakeholder needs and demands. "Going green" or being eco–
friendly is one such demand. Environmental and sustainability concerns originate most often from
governments, consumer activists, and the general public (Schlosser, 2008). Thus, organizations must
implement sustainability into daily practices. In addition, sustainability alters the nature of
competition and drives companies to think differently about products, processes, and technologies
(Parks, 2008). The Target Corporation has risen in recent years to become a model of socially
consciousness in the retail arena. It is truly a community–oriented organization. Since 1946, the
company has followed a formal policy of giving 5% of all profits to local community organizations,
charities and philanthropic causes (Target Annual Report, 2011). This amounts to nearly $4 million
in weekly community support, complemented by several hundreds of thousands of hours of
volunteer time by staff and team members.

unapproved by the Food and Drug Administration usage of a drug, medical device or biologic is
prohibited by the 1938 Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act, and subjects the product to the misbranding
provisions. On the other hand, off–label promotion is deemed to be a constitutional right protected
by the First Amendment. Numerous debates, lawsuits and court rulings still don't clear up the
dilemma of off–label promotion.

Another law that imposes liability on healthcare manufacturers is the False Claim Act also known as
Lincoln Law. Initially, the law was applied to people who defraud federal programs but in the late
90s the Act commenced to be applied to frauds associated with the promotions of the healthcare
goods. The first recognition of off–label promotion was made in 1996 when Franklin v. Parke–Davis
lawsuit was filed. Dr. David Franklin filed the False Claim Act case based on his concerns on his
former employer's, pharmaceutical company Parker–Davis, off–label promotion of anti–epileptic
drug Neurontin. The proposed claim that off–label promotion complies with the False Claim Act
was new and controversial. It took 8 years of legal disputes to attain equally beneficial settlement of
$430 million in fines and penalties. The Franklin v. Parker–Davis case set a precedent for numerous
off–label promotion cases, which still remain urgent matter for both lawsuits and public debates.
CLAIM ONE
Off–label promotion is law–prohibited action, which is used to increase sales profits.
The numerous cases were filled against the giant multinational corporations with allegation in fraud,
kickbacks, noncompliance with established laws and regulations. Companies tend to commit the
same mistakes year after year despite the existing precedents. What motivates manufacturers to take
illegal actions? Why

Raadium Poisoning In Catherine Donahue's These Shinning Lives
Throughout watching the play These Shinning Lives I gathered information about the radium
poisoning happening in the 1920s. When Catherine Donahue says her first line that this play is
neither a comedy or a tragedy; I was somewhat taken back by this because the play describes four
women who get extremely sick from radium poisoning. Each of the girls experience different side
effects from the radium, but the play further explains Catherine's side effect which was ultimately
death. Therefore, I believe this play is a tragedy. In the beginning of the play it starts out with four
healthy women working at a radial dial company making watches with radium. "They were paid the
modern equivalent of $0.27 per watch dial, so the harder they worked, unknowingly swallowing
deadly amounts of poison each time to make a few extra pennies, the faster death would approach
(MessyNessy,"The Radium Girls and the Generation That Brushed Its Teeth with Radioactive
Toothpaste)." As the play progresses it shows the deterioration of each of the girls. One girls jaw is
hurting her another its her arm and then the last his her leg and then her whole body. "Between 1917
and 1926, the U.S. Radium Corporation hired around 70 women from New Jersey and by 1927,
more than 50 of those women had died as a direct result of radium paint poisoning that was eating ...

It talks about them being taken advantage of and being exposed to harmful things such as radium.
The radium ultimately leads to the premature death of these women who worked in the radial dial
company. I say this is a tragedy because these women were mothers, friends, wives, and most
importantly they were all people. They all had the right to live the life they wanted and to be treated
fairly. They did not deserve to be lied to about how harmful radium was for them. Their lives were
cut short due to the inservice these companies did to them. This play is a tragedy is so many

The Cloud Security Allience ( Csa )
There are numerous ways one can gain unauthorized access to data maintained in the cloud's data
centers. The methods vary from physical theft to trickery and electronic attack. Common methods of
attack include cracking weak passwords, privilege escalation, exploiting unused database
functionality, targeting known unfixed software vulnerabilities, SQL injection, and stealing
unencrypted back–up tapes (Higgins, 2008).
The Cloud Security Allience (CSA), which promotes best practices for cloud computing security,
cites seven main threats to the cloud: "1) Abuse and nefarious use of cloud computing; 2) Insecure
application programming interfaces; 3) Malicious insiders; 4) Shared technology vulnerabilities; 5)
Data loss or leakages; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accountability refers to determining when a security breach occurs, who was responsible for the
breach, and where to place liability for any losses. Audibility is keeping tracking of who accessed or
changed data and ensuring that employees maintain the minimal access level required for job
success (Yang and Borg, 2012). However, it should be noted that these measures do not physically
prevent subversive actions and rely on the threat of future punishment as a deterrent.
Number four on the CSA list is shared technologies vulnerability. Shared technology vulnerabilities
are possible due to virtualization and multitenancy. Two independent virtual machines could be
operating on the same physical machine, potentially allowing one virtual machine to peek at the
other's data through the physical link (Wiley, 2012). A Denial of Service (DoS) attack can also be
instrumented through multitenancy by misappropriating resources from the shared platform
(Fernandes, 2013). One step that organizations can take to prevent a multitenancy leak is to ensure
the organization's web server is not on the same platform as its database. If someone were able gain
access to a web server that also had a database on it, they would have access to that database. While
this requires more resources to separate the two servers, the additional layer of security is worth the
expense to the organization ("Database Security," n.d.).

Gilded Age DBQ
The Gilded Age, was the time period, following that of Reconstruction, marking the rise of big
business, capitalist expansion, and further industrialization. As a result of the policy laissez–faire

Although big business and capitalist expansion seemed to enrich society, problems, especially
economic, boiled under the surface. The United States growth as a manufacturing nation, lowered
prices of many goods (Doc. A), because of overproduction. With more product in the market
demand decreased, lowering the wage of the worker. The Great Depression is a long time result of
overproduction. With a policy of laissez–faire, monopolies, a prime contributor to urban poverty,
were able to form. The government's hands–off approach to big business allowed captains of
industry to do what they pleased. The worker suffered greatly under the freedom of the robber baron
who reduced wages drastically (Doc. B). Freedom by laissez–faire to the robber baron increased the
wealth of the wealthy business tycoon and kept the workers in poverty further increasing the gap
between the rich and the poor. To create a monopoly a robber baron would try to own every aspect
of a specific industry or buy their competitors. These ruthless tactics were often used by some of the
most notable robber barons, such as Rockefeller and his use of horizontal integration to obtain a
monopoly in the oil industry (Doc. H). Although big business was the cause of many issues in the
economy of the Gilded Age, modernization brought about by manufacturing diversified the market

Marcus Garvey : The Black Star Line
Marcus Garvey is arguably one of the early pioneers in Pan Africanism, black consciousness, and
political radicalism. Garvey is regarded for his speaking on race tensions, economic inequality and
the plight of Native Africans in America. Not widely and prominently known like the images of
Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Elijah Mohammad, but should be regarded for
paving the way for those individuals. In this paper we will discuss three notable moments that
developed Marcus Garvey into the leader and activist he is proven to be; the formation and
importance of The Universal Negro Improvement Association, The Negro World, and lastly The
Black Star Line.
Marcus Josiah Garvey, was born in St. Ann's, Jamaica on August 17, 1887. Garvey was the youngest
out of eleven children of Marcus and Sarah Garvey. In his youth Garvey learned the grave strife and
differences between races. His boyhood days were filled with varied experiences. At one point he
had been subjected to being shunned by his fellow white friends at the time and learned his first
lesson about racial divide. Garvey inherited a keen interest in books from his father, a mason and
made full use of the extensive family library; allowing him at a young age to learn language and
develop a love for learning. His in–home education was by far more excellent than his elementary
education and through private tutors and Sunday School. Garvey developed his leadership skills;

Innovation as a Motivator Essay
Motivation, an important concept in management theory, can be defined as: "the reasons people do
the things that they do" (Zenisek, 2009). A company that effectively motivates its employees will
often perform better than one that does not. One motivation technique is innovation time: giving
employees the freedom to work on their own projects as a portion of their normal workload. These
projects are entirely self–directed, and rely heavily on the employee's creativity and entrepreneurial
spirit. Innovation time is an advantageous policy for two reasons: it can facilitate the creation of new
revenue streams, and it exemplifies the positive aspects of academically accepted motivation
theories, in particular the job characteristics model ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Google also adopted this strategy, but altered it to make it fit their corporate culture. At Google, all
engineers spend eighty percent of their time on company assigned projects, and twenty percent of
their time on personal or group projects (Google, 2009). Google's implementation of the technique
is unique because it adopts additional motivational theories in the administration of the twenty
percent rule. Google ensures that employees remain motivated in regards to their projects through
constant feedback and review. Each employee submits a weekly description of the progress made on
their personal project and attends regular peer review meetings (Girard, 2009). The feedback gained
from these meetings helps the employee to brainstorm solutions to problems and remain focused on
their project goals. As well, peer review sessions allow engineers see what their colleagues are
working on, and provides them with the opportunity to join other projects. Although innovation time
could apply to many types of companies, it has been proven most effective in organizations with a
technical research focus. One primary reason for employers to implement innovation time as a
motivator is to expand new product lines and revenue streams. One example of this is 3M's popular
product created by Arthur Fry, the Post–It Note. Fry was frustrated that the bookmarks

Chinese Violation of the United Nations Nuclear...
In this day and age, society operates in constant threat of terrorism, war, and nuclear fallout; the
rapid growth of international militaristic power contributes to the ever–present fear in the back of all
of our minds. None of us can go through the day without hearing a newscaster or radio personality
talking about the growing threat that Iran or Afghanistan or North Korea poses to the global
community, but there is one State that we hear of. This threat works in a much vaster environment,
and shrouds itself in cloaks of secrecy and deception – China. Although the Chinese tend to evade

Terrifyingly, missile/bomb facilities have also been swiftly constructed in the monolithic nation, and
operations are flourishing; over the past decades China has refined their militaristic operations and
currently attains a surplus of three million nuclear arms (FAS 1/Terrill 14). The enhancement of
China's nuclear facilities and the advancement of their militant resources, paired with the speed of
which both have been attained (China is projected have a 20% growth of nuclear capacity in the
next decade), puts the Chinese in an elite echelon – however, the rate at which their programs
remain to grow is astronomical (and shows no signs of stopping), a sobering fact for other world
superpowers. Even more alarming is the potentially lethal camaraderie between China and Iran. In
the summer of 2009, Qin Gang, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, released a statement
about the re–election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad saying that China "respects the choice of the

Causes Of Poverty In America
Although poverty rates and tendencies have shifted over the last few decades, a few trends have
remained constant. For example, the majority of the poor population in the United States are
between the ages of 18 and 64, in other words the individuals in their working years. In addition,
there has always been a prevalent amount of childhood poverty throughout the US. Also, the worst
poverty rates remain in the South. However, according to the 2012 US Census, more poor families
are headed by women than ever before (Desilver). There are a myriad of reasons for these
skyrocketing rates. For decades there has been an obvious wage gap between men and women.
Women have historically been paid less for doing the same job as men. In addition, women are often
segregated from high paying jobs, forced to obtain limited low paying jobs. In 2007, half of working
women were restricted to merely 20 caregiving occupational categories such as teaching, child care,
and nursing. Furthermore, women generally spend a larger amount of time doing unpaid caregiving
work than men. Also, women are more likely to bear the costs of raising their children than men. In
many cases, women become the sole guardians of their children. Another affliction that drives many
women in to poverty is cycles of sexual or domestic violence. These patterns lead to unemployment,
poor health, and even homelessness. According to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, women victims
of domestic abuse collectively lose about eight

The Nuclear Energy Industry
According to the Nuclear Energy Institute China is the biggest market for the nuclear plants,
technology and equipment. They are producing 19 gigawatts and it is planned to increase this
number to 58 gigawatts until 2020 and approximately 150 gigawatts until 2030 (Nuclear Energy
Institute, 2015, p. 1). Nowadays the nuclear energy plays a small role in Chinese energy industry.
According to the IEAE it was 2.39% of the total production in 2014 – 130580 gWh (IAEA – PRIS,
2015c). The main policy challenges for China is to renew the bilateral nuclear cooperation
agreement (known as a Section 123 agreement) and meeting the CO2 emission regulations. The
Section 123 agreement will be expired on 30th December 2015. It is highly important for United
States as also for China. However thanks to that agreement a bunch of American companies
benefited and thousands of jobs were created in United States. On the other side Chinese market
benefited thanks to the new technologies, equipment and know–how necessary to build nuclear
energy industry. The Section 123 agreement covers the nonproliferation policies. The agreement
took effect when was signed by President Ronald Reagan in December 1985. Another one crucial
challenge for China is meeting the CO2 regulations. Due to using a lot of fossil fuels, especially the
coal, which causes enormous air pollution in China. One of the solutions to this topic is using more
of renewable energies and also nuclear energy, which can be considered as a

by 2013. A minimal level of maintenance would be required due to the improved technology and
better facilities. ACP would also double the size of USEC as a whole. Cash Flow Calculations We

Slavery has been entwined with American history ever since Dutch traders brought twenty captive
Africans to Jamestown, Virginia in 1619. Slavery in America is a subject with minimal truths and
stories rarely told. The public school system excludes the fact that eight of the first twelve American
presidents were major slaveholders. Emancipation brought freedom, but not approximation. The

These four propositions are public policy issues that public law makers and public managers should

The enslavement of Africans was a crime against humanity is the first proposition. The United

The Organization
Introduction
Organizations can comprise of a sole proprietorship, partnership or a corporation. For this
assignment, the reference is to the complex network of a corporation, Starbucks Coffee Company. It
might not be realized but their system is dependent heavily on a system of computers and
telecommunications, with the human–resource managers delegated with powers to formulate
strategies for recruiting people who can take fast and accurate decisions leading to employee
commitment, cost–effectiveness and the ultimate profitability of the organization. Such corporations
are normally categorized into three organizational configurations – the functional, divisional, matrix,
federations and networks. Corporations are headed by a chairman or a CEO, followed by a chain of
command that is manifested in the organizational chart of the corporation (Alan, 2007).

The criticality of job analysis in organizational success is a crucial function for human resource
management and is a disciplined process of assimilating information pertaining to the functional
aspects of a job. The information thus collected helps the human resources department to upload
data on the factors relating to, a) time for the job, b) details of tasks under one job, c) restructuring

media serves as a visible connection to one's corporation and its stakeholders, consumers, suppliers,

earlier, the influence of social media is spreading in a proliferative pace that has resulted to an
essential transformation in society, technology and business customs. Based on the behavior of
people who are using various social media sites, studies show that they interact with one other in a

tremendous amounts of money to address, food waste presents an elephantine handicap on the well–
being of humanity. Especially in the United States, where billions of pounds of food are wasted
annually and an estimated one–seventh of the population is food–insecure, taking an abundance of
resources for granted is an irresponsible and unsustainable practice. If our nation is to reform its
flawed systems of subsidized overproduction, waste management, and excess redistribution,
ideological and economic overhauls must be initiated. In the past sixty ... Show more content on

"In the past, donations [to food banks] were almost exclusively canned goods or bakery items. Now
grocery stores are increasingly donating perishables like produce, meat, and dairy that are still safe
to eat even though they're no longer at 'peak freshness'" (Jacobs Business Insider). Major
corporations have jumped on board as well, with one of the most prominent being Starbucks:
"Starbucks is announcing FoodShare – a program to donate ready–to–eat meals to food banks from
its 7,600 company–operated stores in the U.S. ... through an existing collaboration with Food
Donation Connection and a new partnership with Feeding America" (Starbucks News). There is also
recent progress in western Europe; in 2015, France passed a law banning supermarkets from
discarding or destroying unsold food items and mandating that edible food be "donated to charities
for immediate distribution to the poor" (Delman The Atlantic). Food unsafe to eat is donated to
farms to assist in agriculture. According to the National Resources Defense Council in the U.S., "an
extra 15 percent in saved food could feed over 25 million Americans"

Standardized Testing Flaws

  • 1. Standardized Testing Flaws A major issue that both teachers and students find with American schools is the overemphasis on standardization. One example that can be found on this is the excessive use of standardized tests. In the United States, the average schoolchild will take a total of 112 mandatory standardized tests, a number that has many educators and parents concerned that "too much emphasis has been placed" on standardization (Layton; Strauss). For example, standardization has placed too much emphasis on test–taking and scoring high on mandated examinations rather than actual learning (Wright). And even though both federal and state governments have policies of standardization in education, multiple studies have found that "there is no evidence" that such practices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One notable example is in Finland, which is "one of the top performers" in education internationally (Zhao). In contrast to the United States' "relentless standardized test prep," Finland "doesn't waste time or money" on mass standardization (Doyle). Although there is still progress monitoring, teachers are given the "flexibility and autonomy" to customize how their students learn and rather than national standards, local governments are given more control over education (Zhao). Concerning this, many education experts advocate that the American public education system is "ripe for a re–boot" and would benefit in "emulat[ing]" such a system like Finland has (Kuznia). Doing so would allow for teachers to be able to develop individually focused lesson plans that more effectively benefit their students as well as ensure that students are learning content – rather than learning the test. In other words, officials on education in Finland take almost the complete opposite stance on standardization than those in the United States – a move that has allowed Finnish students to consistently score top in subjects such as math and science in the international community (Doyle; Zhao). And given that American students consistently score below average in the same assessments – it is clear that the United States should also take advantage of the same benefits by also following this policy of increased ... It is a leading food and beverage company that operates as a manufacturing service as it makes it's own products and distributes them. PepsiCo's current Chairman is Indra K. Nooyi and their headquarters are in Purchase, New York. The corporation has around 274,000 employees and PepsiCo is regarded very highly on multiple Forbes lists and is extremely popular around the globe. The company PepsiCo was established after the merge of both Pepsi–Cola and Frito–Lay in 1965. The original beverage company, Pepsi–Cola, was created in the late nineteenth century. It is known as a mainly beverage focused company, but there are many more brands and products associated with PepsiCo other than beverages and it has an extremely diverse portfolio. Some of their brands are Gatorade, Doritos, Quaker, and Lay's. PepsiCo is regarded as having monopolistic competition despite Pepsi and Coke indefinitely controlling the beverage industry, making it extremely difficult for others to join the industry. These two companies have large tension between each other and product differentiation is a large part of their respective competitive strategies. Although their products are not much different from each other, they are perceived to differ from each other in order to persuade consumers to lean towards either company. PepsiCo operates as an ... • 9. Complaint Against West Corporation And Wtc ( A Subsidiary... Under California state law, do diverse citizens who only conduct business communications via electronically or telephonically fulfill the minimum contacts requirement that would allow the California Superior Court to assert personal jurisdiction of Mary? Rule In West Corp. v. Superior Court, 116 Cal. App. 4th 1167 (Cal. App. 4th Dist. 2004), a California resident, Patricia Sanford, filed a class action complaint against West Corporation and WTC (a subsidiary of West Corp.), telemarketing firms organized in Delaware and headquartered in Nebraska, alleging causes of action for: (1) violation of the consumers legal remedies act; (2) unlawful, fraudulent, and unfair business practices; (3) untrue and/or dishonest advertising; (4) conversion; (5) unjust enrichment; (6) fraud and deceit; and (7) negligent misrepresentation. Essentially, one of West's telemarketers had misrepresented a product during a sales pitch in which the caller (Sanford) had purchased the product over the phone. West claims that the California court could not assert personal jurisdiction over them because they did not maintain any offices or employees in California, was not licensed to do business in California, nor did they own any property located in California. Moreover, West motioned the court to quash the service of summons; however, the court denied the request and ruled that the court was authorized to assert personal jurisdiction over their corporation. • 13. Overview of the WARN Act For so many years, this nation has been creating policies and laws to protect the people and their way of life. One particular law that was passed still creates a lot of confusion on whether this law pertains to them or not. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a federal law to protect workers, their families, and society from sudden or unforeseen job losses due to plant closings and massive layoffs. The WARN Act was originally enacted on August 4, 1988, but it evidentially became effective on February 4, 1989 (Department of Labor, 2013). Unlike other laws that are enforced by certain government or federal agencies, the WARN Act in which an employee, their representative, or a government official has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Department of Energy (DOE) concluded there were not enough sufficient benefits being offered to the taxpayers for them to extend the enrichment at the plant (USEC). With the increasing cost of production resulting from power consumption and the decreasing prices in nuclear fuel, the USEC felt that it was in their best interest to begin the process of layoffs in order to continue operations into the next year while trying to manage inventory, meet customer orders, as well as meeting the turnover requirements with the DOE on its lease (USEC, 2013). To prepare themselves, the USEC utilized the provisions of the WARN Act to properly commence with their scheduled layoff while providing proper notice to their employees despite the many years of excellent performance from its workforce. While the act may provide some control of policy, it can cause quite of bit of confusion for certain departments of the government. As discussed previously, the WARN Act provides businesses with a safeguard measure to utilize in the event of a shutdown or mass layoffs, but for the federal government, many questions came about in light of the recent furloughs and shutdowns. The WARN Act states that businesses must provide their employees with proper notice, but the furloughs tested that notion due to being unsure of when exactly the furloughs were going to take place. • 17. Example Of Flexible Work Schedules Flexible Work Schedule The beginning of work life started at the break of dawn. Most workers were bound to their work for as long as daylight was available (Chung). During the Industrial Revolution employees worked in factories on an assembly line(Chung). Workers clocked in at the same time, took lunch at the same time, and clocked out at the same time (Chung). They worked as if they were part of the machine (Chung). In modern times employee's work within office buildings similar to assembly line workers they have a fixed schedule and work towards the ultimate goal of the organization (Chung). In modern days corporations are considering the benefits of a flexible work schedule because it can contribute to a successful work life balance by enriching families, improving an employee's health and improving production. Modern technology such as cell phones, tablets, and computers permits a more flexible work schedule because it allows employees to stay connected to the office even if they are miles away (Chung). Alternative work schedule are schedules does not fit the 8–hr day, 40–hr week definition (Baltes et al. 496). Some examples of common alternative work schedules include flexible working hours, compressed work weeks, part time, and telecommuting (Baltes et al. 496). Alternative work schedules, such as flextime and compressed work weeks, have been adopted by many organizations over the past several decades (Baltes et al. 496). • 21. The Nuclear Terrorism Threat and the Aum Shinrikyo Cult... The Nuclear Terrorism Threat and the Aum Shinrikyo Cult Until the mid seventies, the term nuclear terror was used predominately to describe the threat of a nuclear attack by the Soviet Union. Since then, however, it has taken on a whole new meaning which many security experts feel poses a more serious threat to national security. In the past few decades, formal terrorist organizations have exploded planes out of the sky, bombed US military and diplomatic facilities abroad, and with the World Trade Center and Oklahoma City bombing incidents, they have even launched attacks on American soil. Yet until 20 March 1995 when five members of the Aum Shinrikyo cult released sarin nerve gas in the Tokyo subway system, the world had not seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The guru, Asahara, is an essential guide throughout this spiritual evolution. Members of the group believe that salvation will only be achieved after Armageddon, even for those who are killed in the process. In spite of its religious nature, Aum's leadership structure was organized in the form of a ministerial cabinet patterned after the Japanese government. Since its establishment in 1987, the Aum organization expanded physically, geographically, and financially. It is believed that at its height, the group had over 65,000 members, yet only 10,000 of these were located in Japan. Aum had a large representation in Russia, approximately three times the number of followers in Japan and half of its total membership worldwide. By the end of 1994, there were six Aum Shinrikyo branches in Moscow alone and another eleven offices outside the capital city. On a smaller scale, Aum established branches in Germany and the US and claimed small groups of followers in Australia, Belarus, and the Ukraine. The organization's financial assets were accumulated through fund raising, donations, and a variety of legitimate business efforts, from computer businesses in Taiwan to ... • 25. Quasi Contracts INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS:– Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract. This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED–IN–FACT CONTRACT: The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for "jus naturale". Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v. Downes, 'I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not stretching, lest I should endanger it' thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy. Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield's views were challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 "the various actions grouped under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the common law were inevitable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Chaco And Its Effects On Indigenous Peoples Much of the Chaco is still inhabited by indigenous people who often do not have rights to the territory they are on. Development brought on by actions from organizations like the IIRSA can be devastating to the indigenous people. Natural resource companies can displace communities. They can also harm the indigenous people by extracting resources which the indigenous rely on for their way of life. The IIRSA is attempting to boost economic development by promoting resource extraction and agriculture production, but in doing so they are harming many communities that need the Chaco's resources to survive. According to a USAID Issue Brief about Tenure and Indigenous Peoples "new infrastructure to improve access to markets, facilitate trade, and promote economic growth" leads to an increase in demand for land. This new infrastructure makes it easier for "settlers, merchants, and illegal loggers to clear forests and settle in indigenous territories." The USAID brief also mentions how this infrastructure has both directly and indirectly caused negative effects in the Gran Chaco region. They report how small–scale illegal loggers invading indigenous titled lands "follow[ed] the new transoceanic highway built as part of the IIRSA development plan, which threatens indigenous peoples in South America through interlinked set of dams, canals, and multiple routes to the Pacific. • 37. Losers and Winners of Globalization Essay 'Despite the views of many optimists, there are clearly losers as well as winners from the process of globalization.' The statement at the head of the page assumes that Globalization creates both winners and losers. This is a view shared by many, but not all, theorists and commentators. There are many trends of thought regarding exactly who the winners and losers may be as well as what may be considered a prize or a punishment (e.g. some may sight the availability of McDonalds fast food throughout France an enrichment and some may see it as an unwelcome and unsavoury invasion.) Comparison between these opinions paints an interesting picture of what Globalization is, what certain parties want it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are various definitions of what 'Globalization' is, and the effect it has on the world. Globalists believe Globalization is a real and evident process. They argue that examples of a significant shift in the geography of social relations can be seen in terms of economics, culture and politics. For example the recent effects that the US economy's down turn had on the share prices of British companies who trade and deal largely within US markets. We can see that international trade and investment has increased in recent years with many companies (notable many of those within the FT500) having bases and influence in many different countries e.g. Rupert Murdoch's global media empire, News Corporation, which operates within nine different media on six different continents. Culturally we can see everyday examples of what Globalists would call Globalization. In Britain we eat McDonalds and Sushi, wear Issey Miyake perfume, watch Manga films and play Sony Playstation games. Politically nation states do not hold ultimate power over all policies and all behaviour as a whole. National governments have joined to create larger international organizations e.g. United Nations or G8 (USA, Japan, Germany, France, UK, Italy and Canada, with the recent addition of Russia). Of course, Perkins (2004) had worked with Halliburton through his previous NSA connections in the U.S. intelligence services. In this manner, Perkins (2004) defines the underlying economic motives of the Bush Administration to invade Iraq, which served as a platform for the false allegations of "weapons of mass–destruction" that allowed Bush to invade the oil–rich country of Iraq in 2003: "Bush ... More than half a century ago with the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, freedom of movement obtained the international recognition. Since 1990s, many governments have begun to recognize the disparity of increasingly complex nature of current migration flows with traditional institutional and legal systems of handling immigration, according to which each category of migrants received its clear and unambiguous definition. This concern has led to a reassessment of international instruments in the field of migration. There are studies in which the authors interpret this relocation as not just a spatial movement of masses of people, but also as a dynamic "offensive", the infiltration of ethnicities and cultures, mixing of which with the ethnic groups and cultures of the host countries may not always have predictable effects and features. At the same time, according to many experts, neither North America nor Europe in the near future are able to do without a constant inflow of immigrants from as far east as Asia, as far south as Africa and Latin America. A direct consequence of the large–scale migration has been the actual formation of multinational states, accompanied by the fact that immigrants enter mainly the lower layers of the host society, which makes the Western countries a society, social rank, and file of which are formed by the national minorities. In such situations, the social world is closely related to the "national question" and the nature of the relationship arising between indigenous and migrant population, causing concern about the success or failure of the integration of immigrants into the local society. Positive and negative features An important feature of contemporary migration is mass illegal immigration. It is to this modern type of empire building that the term imperialism is quite often restricted. Imperial nations built their empirial fortunes by plundering the world of it's vast resources. Silver from the mines of South America, spices from Indonesian islands, Jade from ancient China, and even the trade of human beings from across Africa helped pay for the gigantic palaces, museums, theatres, cathedrals, municipal buildings, and for almost everything else that was considered "western civilization". Foreign Policy scholars and analysts believe that he will fail to control his country which could lead to its inevitable collapse. If and when North Korea collapses the responsibilities will undoubtedly fall on the shoulders of the United States. Unfortunately many Americans are still feeling fatigued given the trillions that were spent on rebuilding Iraq during the war and the thousands of lives lost as a result of the War. If the United States was put into a position to intervene; the nation should not hesitate in building a consensus at home and an international coalition abroad in order to construct a proper strategy to avoid any possible mishandling's (Harrington & Ramberg). Climate change aggravates poverty, feeds political volatility, and allows more safe havens for terrorist activity abroad. Anti–nuclear sentiment swelled while construction of new reactors stalled. Fears of nuclear power were further confirmed after the 1986 accident at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in the Soviet Union, and later reaffirmed by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan. The development of new nuclear power screeched to a halt after Fukushima, which froze Japan's nuclear industry and caused hundreds of thousands of Japanese to evacuate the area surrounding the plant. • 73. Social Responsibility at the Target Corporation Social Responsibility and the Target Corporation Companies today are heavily influenced by the demands of customers and stakeholders. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to the social and environmental responsibility policies and practices developed by an organization to increase its positive influence and reduce its negative activity towards society (Parks, 2008). The business approach and corporate philosophy of an organization is easily altered due to economic pressures, technological improvement and stakeholder needs and demands. "Going green" or being eco– friendly is one such demand. Environmental and sustainability concerns originate most often from governments, consumer activists, and the general public (Schlosser, 2008). Thus, organizations must implement sustainability into daily practices. In addition, sustainability alters the nature of competition and drives companies to think differently about products, processes, and technologies (Parks, 2008). The Target Corporation has risen in recent years to become a model of socially consciousness in the retail arena. It is truly a community–oriented organization. Since 1946, the company has followed a formal policy of giving 5% of all profits to local community organizations, charities and philanthropic causes (Target Annual Report, 2011). When Catherine Donahue says her first line that this play is neither a comedy or a tragedy; I was somewhat taken back by this because the play describes four women who get extremely sick from radium poisoning. Each of the girls experience different side effects from the radium, but the play further explains Catherine's side effect which was ultimately death. Therefore, I believe this play is a tragedy. In the beginning of the play it starts out with four healthy women working at a radial dial company making watches with radium. "They were paid the modern equivalent of $0.27 per watch dial, so the harder they worked, unknowingly swallowing deadly amounts of poison each time to make a few extra pennies, the faster death would approach (MessyNessy,"The Radium Girls and the Generation That Brushed Its Teeth with Radioactive Toothpaste)." The methods vary from physical theft to trickery and electronic attack. Common methods of attack include cracking weak passwords, privilege escalation, exploiting unused database functionality, targeting known unfixed software vulnerabilities, SQL injection, and stealing unencrypted back–up tapes (Higgins, 2008). The Cloud Security Allience (CSA), which promotes best practices for cloud computing security, cites seven main threats to the cloud: "1) Abuse and nefarious use of cloud computing; 2) Insecure application programming interfaces; 3) Malicious insiders; 4) Shared technology vulnerabilities; 5) Data loss or leakages; ... Audibility is keeping tracking of who accessed or changed data and ensuring that employees maintain the minimal access level required for job success (Yang and Borg, 2012). However, it should be noted that these measures do not physically prevent subversive actions and rely on the threat of future punishment as a deterrent. Number four on the CSA list is shared technologies vulnerability. Shared technology vulnerabilities are possible due to virtualization and multitenancy. Two independent virtual machines could be operating on the same physical machine, potentially allowing one virtual machine to peek at the other's data through the physical link (Wiley, 2012). A Denial of Service (DoS) attack can also be instrumented through multitenancy by misappropriating resources from the shared platform (Fernandes, 2013). One step that organizations can take to prevent a multitenancy leak is to ensure the organization's web server is not on the same platform as its database. If someone were able gain access to a web server that also had a database on it, they would have access to that database. While this requires more resources to separate the two servers, the additional layer of security is worth the expense to the organization ("Database Security," n.d.). Number seven on the CSA ... A company that effectively motivates its employees will often perform better than one that does not. One motivation technique is innovation time: giving employees the freedom to work on their own projects as a portion of their normal workload. These projects are entirely self–directed, and rely heavily on the employee's creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Innovation time is an advantageous policy for two reasons: it can facilitate the creation of new revenue streams, and it exemplifies the positive aspects of academically accepted motivation theories, in particular the job characteristics model ... Google ensures that employees remain motivated in regards to their projects through constant feedback and review. Each employee submits a weekly description of the progress made on their personal project and attends regular peer review meetings (Girard, 2009). The feedback gained from these meetings helps the employee to brainstorm solutions to problems and remain focused on their project goals. As well, peer review sessions allow engineers see what their colleagues are working on, and provides them with the opportunity to join other projects. The enhancement of China's nuclear facilities and the advancement of their militant resources, paired with the speed of which both have been attained (China is projected have a 20% growth of nuclear capacity in the next decade), puts the Chinese in an elite echelon – however, the rate at which their programs remain to grow is astronomical (and shows no signs of stopping), a sobering fact for other world superpowers. Even more alarming is the potentially lethal camaraderie between China and Iran. In the summer of 2009, Qin Gang, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, released a statement about the re–election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad saying that China "respects the choice of the Iranian people...and hope that Iran can maintain stability and solidarity" (IranTracker 1). • 105. Causes Of Poverty In America Although poverty rates and tendencies have shifted over the last few decades, a few trends have remained constant. For example, the majority of the poor population in the United States are between the ages of 18 and 64, in other words the individuals in their working years. In addition, there has always been a prevalent amount of childhood poverty throughout the US. Also, the worst poverty rates remain in the South. However, according to the 2012 US Census, more poor families are headed by women than ever before (Desilver). There are a myriad of reasons for these skyrocketing rates. For decades there has been an obvious wage gap between men and women. Women have historically been paid less for doing the same job as men. In addition, women are often segregated from high paying jobs, forced to obtain limited low paying jobs. In 2007, half of working women were restricted to merely 20 caregiving occupational categories such as teaching, child care, and nursing. Furthermore, women generally spend a larger amount of time doing unpaid caregiving work than men. Also, women are more likely to bear the costs of raising their children than men. In many cases, women become the sole guardians of their children. Another affliction that drives many women in to poverty is cycles of sexual or domestic violence. These patterns lead to unemployment, poor health, and even homelessness. According to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, women victims of domestic abuse collectively lose about eight ... • 109. The Nuclear Energy Industry According to the Nuclear Energy Institute China is the biggest market for the nuclear plants, technology and equipment. They are producing 19 gigawatts and it is planned to increase this number to 58 gigawatts until 2020 and approximately 150 gigawatts until 2030 (Nuclear Energy Institute, 2015, p. 1). Nowadays the nuclear energy plays a small role in Chinese energy industry. According to the IEAE it was 2.39% of the total production in 2014 – 130580 gWh (IAEA – PRIS, 2015c). The main policy challenges for China is to renew the bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement (known as a Section 123 agreement) and meeting the CO2 emission regulations. The Section 123 agreement will be expired on 30th December 2015. It is highly important for United States as also for China. However thanks to that agreement a bunch of American companies benefited and thousands of jobs were created in United States. On the other side Chinese market benefited thanks to the new technologies, equipment and know–how necessary to build nuclear energy industry. The Section 123 agreement covers the nonproliferation policies. The agreement took effect when was signed by President Ronald Reagan in December 1985. Another one crucial challenge for China is meeting the CO2 regulations. Due to using a lot of fossil fuels, especially the coal, which causes enormous air pollution in China. One of the solutions to this topic is using more of renewable energies and also nuclear energy, which can be considered as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Iran has also been linked to various Islamic terrorists groups in the region due terrorist activities being conducted in Lebanon and other parts of the world. Iran has also been the target of sanctions from the UN due to its nuclear weapons ambitions in the region. Since 1997, Iran's government has been under constant change be reformists parties candidates, most notably by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who was elected in a controversial election in 2005. Due to the expiration of long term energy cost savings contracts, USEC is examining the possibility of taking on a new project called the American Centrifuge Project. This project will utilize a different process for Uranium enrichment, which is the core business process of USEC. The new technology process uses much less energy, which will reduce manufacturing costs and keep USEC on the leading edge of technology in the enrichment market space. The ACP technology is being looked at because it could give a competitive advantage to USEC against its competitors. ACP will lower the production costs and improve USEC's technology position in the market. If the company takes on the ACP project, USEC will reach 6.5 million units in production by 2013. A minimal level of maintenance would be required due to the improved technology and better facilities. ACP would also double the size of USEC as a whole. Cash Flow Calculations We are providing below the assumptions and other calculations we used while computing the WACC and the cash flows. * Net working capital of 5% of sales will be used for both Paducah and ACP project * Inflation is assumed to be 3% * Flotation costs are ignored for cost of equity. * We assume a risk–free rate of 5.09%. This number comes from the current yield of the 30 year T–bond as shown in Exhibit 5. * 50% reduction in enrichment cost start from year 2011 (for ACP project). Without the 50% reduction, the enrichment cost in 2011 would have been $50.15. We are going to start at 50.15/2=$25.07 (50%) from year 2011 as enrichment cost and from there it will again increase at the rate of inflation which is 3%. In 2011, the total capacity will be 3.5M (2.5M from ACP and 1M from Paducah). While calculating the enrichment cost for the year 2011, we used the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Draft resolutions are being formulated. Increasingly, city council members are considering resolutions calling for compensation to the contemporary victims of American slavery and the century of discrimination that succeeded it. The enslavement of Africans was a crime against humanity is the first proposition. The United States government has never acknowledged or taken responsibility for its role in the enslavement of Africans and the promotion of white supremacy. The mass kidnap and enslavement of Africans was the most wicked criminal enterprise in recorded human history. No compensation was ever paid by any of the perpetrators to any of the sufferers.
