Prescriptive Authority
Advanced practice nurses in the United States are governed by the state boards of nursing of the
state in which they practice. There are no uniform rules governing autonomy and prescriptive
authority throughout the country. Therefore, there is a disconnect among practitioners who are
certified by national credentialing but practice under differing regulations from state to state. This
paper will examine support for changes to existing regulations regarding the APRN's prescriptive
authority.
As of January 2016, 14 states and territories had full prescriptive authority for APRN's (Phillips,
2016). Of the remaining states, 8 have complete prescriptive authority but require a limited post–
licensure collaboration term (Phillips, 2016). The remaining states require physician supervision or
collaborative agreement (Phillips, 2016). Although those states without full prescriptive authority
made updates, they still do not align with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AAPN)
position statement regarding prescriptive privilege. The AAPN's position is clear, advanced practice
providers practicing within their scope of practice should have unhindered prescriptive rights
("AANP," 2017).

Studies show patients of APRN's with full practice authority have a better understanding of the role
of the role of the advanced practice nurse and the patient and practitioner make healthcare decisions
as a team (Choi & De Gagne, 2016). APRN's with autonomy are also found to have better
collaborative relationships with the interdisciplinary team, which should lead to better outcomes for
patients (Choi & De Gagne, 2016). This aligns closely with the AANP position statement as the
APRN makes independent and coordinated care decisions as they practice autonomously ("AANP,"

The Status Of The World 's Women
The status of the world's women is not only a matter of morality and justice. It is also a political,
economic, and social imperative. The evidence is irrefutable: when women are free to develop their
talents and contribute fully to their societies, everyone benefits.
– Hillary Clinton, 5/12/2010
Women are a large portion of the populace, almost 60% possess professional degrees, make up 47%
of the workforce and represent 53% of voters. Despite the fact that they have broken every barrier
many times over, women occupy only 18% of the top management positions across the world.
While the representation of women in noteworthy positions of political and business sectors has
enhanced in some cases, (20 states have female Senators) the leadership pool is still male–
dominated. The U.S. places 80th in the world when it comes to female representation in
authoritative positions, just ahead of countries that are openly criticized for their treatment of
women, like Iraq and Afghanistan. As of 2014, only 4.2% of CEO positions and under 17% of board
seats are held by ladies among Fortune 500 organizations.
Evidence across the region has shown that having more women in senior authority promotes
brilliance in areas of performance. Research demonstrates that organizations with more women in
power within governing bodies are more gainful and have higher profits for value. Having more
women with political authority brings about better choice and strategy making. Well–taught women

How Management Is The Key Determinist Essay
Management cannot be simply defined, there are several different definitions, and factors
influencing whether it is successful. One definition of management is "the ability to forecast and
plan, to organise, to command and to co–ordinate" (Naylor 2004, p. 25). In addition, Tony Watson
believes management is the ability to organize and pull things together in order to create long–term
survival to the organisation (Needle 2010, p. 228). Authority can be defined as the power or right to
give orders and make decisions, whereas influence is the ability to affect ideas and actions. In terms
of being successful, it can be defined in terms of monetary rewards, whereas others may say it can
be defined by having a positive impact on others. In this essay I will assess the idea of management,
and the ways in which it can be successful, and whether influence or authority is the key
determinist.
Authority is fundamental to a business structure as it provides individuals in senior positions to
make decisions and give orders to employee's orders to fulfil the requirements of the organisation
(Mar, 2013). The role of any individual in a managerial position cannot be under–estimated, firms
cannot forecast or execute plans without a strong authoritative manager.
The role of authority can be explained through a hierachical structure, in which the higher your
position, the level of authority directly increases. Henri Fayol has completed extensive research with
regards to management within

2000 Word Essay on Being a Team Leader
Non Commissioned officers are a vital part of the United States Army which is why they are often
referred to as the "back bone of the Army". Non Commissioned officers play several key roles in the
army, everywhere from the lowest Sergeant or Corporal as a team leader to the First Sergeant
working as advisory and counter part to a Captain in charge of a Company, to a Command Sergeant
Major, responsible for anything fro a battalion to an entire post. Regardless of which position a non
commissioned offer finds themselves in their responsibilities inherent to that role are of the utmost
importance.
Non commissioned officers must be responsible for everything within their left and right limits.
Which means being accountable for what you do or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Making the right choice and acting on it when faced with an ethical question can be difficult.
Sometimes, it means standing your ground and telling your supervisor you think their wrong. If you
think an order is illegal, first be sure that you understand both the details of the order and its original
intent.
With all these things in consideration it is clear that being a non commissioned officer is a job that
holds absolute importance in the army. In a field environment the job of a non commissioned officer
is to lead their soldiers into combat and issue orders commanding their team, squad or platoon. A
team leader in specific is tasked with possibly the most difficult job in the army. They deal with their
small group of four or five soldiers but in the most direct hands on approach, more so than any other
non commissioned officer job in the Army. Although it is the most junior position as a non
commission officer it holds the most difficult task which does a lot to break in a new non
commissioned officer. If a team leader fails to do his job its will usually hold the biggest
consequences. If a team leader fails his soldiers in a combat situation soldiers can be wounded or
killed. Although this is the most extreme outcome a team leader must work hard to learn his position
and embrace his duties as quickly and responsibly as possible. Being a team leader in a garrison
environment is also very difficult but also a very good

Leaders Without Authority Analysis
Moreover, leaders with authority face restrictions and limitations within the boundaries of their
work. Leaders without authority have more freedom. Heifetz states, "The scarcity of leadership from
people in authority, however, makes it all the more critical to the adaptive success of a polity that
leadership be exercised by people without authority" (183). In the chapter, Leaders Without
Authority, it demonstrates how leaders who held informal positions, like Gandhi, was successful in
accomplishing collective action. Some figures like Martin Luther King, who also held a formal
authority in his own subgroup, can step out of his boundaries and lead without authority. Heifetz
states, "But these people lead not only within the boundaries of the ... Show more content on

Adaptive work requires innovation and learning to address different challenges. Leaders must adapt
to these challenges. They do so by taking account of conflicting values and reality. Further, adaptive
work can be done in formal and informal positions. When a leader holds a formal and authoritative
position they have the benefit of their power to pursue their goals and the knowledge in approaching
routine situations. They provide direction, protection, and order. However, authority can also create
boundaries. Leaders without authority have the benefit of freedom by creative deviance and
frontline knowledge. An example of a leader who evolved from no formal position to having
authoritative control is President Donald Trump. When he was a candidate he had the freedom to say
and do certain things. However, now that he is president, he is restricted by the norms of the
political organization that is firmly established. Adaptive work can be applied to US policymaking;
however, it may face certain challenges in the current administration. Ultimately, adaptive work is a
model of leadership that guides a leader to face realities. Realties that they may not want to

Genesis 1-2 Wayne Belleville Analysis
1) What were the author's three strongest points? What makes them strong? In my opinion, one of
the author's strongest points come from her treatment of Genesis 1–2. She convincingly presents an
argument for equality and "sameness" regarding male/female roles in the creation account (26). For
example, Belleville notes that both the man and the woman were given the commission to be fruitful
and multiple, as well as have dominion over the earth (26), thus they are given equal
standing/position from God at the beginning. Additionally, Belleville presents the idea that if there
was any submission taking place in the creation account, it was both man and woman submitting to
the commission of their creator, God (30). This point proves strong I believe, ... Show more content

of this verse refers to a rift in intimacy between man and woman (34), and not consequence that
suggests hierarchy. Although she acknowledges, like many do, that this text is descriptive and not
prescriptive, she still tries extremely hard to remove any hint of hierarchy from the text, which
appears to be a stretch. Although I agree with her that people should not use this text as justification
for hierarchy (35), I think she is stretching to claim that we do not find hierarchy taking place due to

The Hypothetical Scenario Given For This Assignment Talks
The hypothetical scenario given for this assignment talks about a bill signed by the President that is
approved by Congress. This law becomes known as the Protecting American Integrity Act, which
addresses the issue of "fake news" in the media. The label of "fake news" is in reference to any
published information that portrays elected officials in a negative manner. In contrast, any published
information that portrays elected officials in a positive manner shall be labeled as "real news." The

Whether the information portrays the elected official in a positive or negative manner does not
correspond with whether the information is "real" or "fake." The Protecting American Integrity Act
would be considered compelled speech, but would not be considered prior restraint. The book
defines prior restraint as an "action taken by the government to prohibit publication of a specific
document or text before it is distributed to the public; a policy that requires government approval
before publication" (Trager, et al., 2016, p. 693). This means that information under prior restraint
requires permission from the government before it can be published.
An example of prior restraint is the case of Near v. Minnesota. "Minnesota law allowed the state to
enjoin publication of any periodical that typically produced 'malicious, scandalous, and defamatory '
content" (Coyle, E., 01/25/17). There was also a use of an injunction which is permission granted by
a judge to require that all publication of the scandalous or defamatory information be removed. Jay
Near, the defendant in Near v. Minnesota, published in his paper that "city officials were standing by
as Jewish gangsters operated gambling, bootlegging and racketeering business across the city"
(Trager, et al., 2016, p. 66). This caused an uproar after the state of Minnesota reviewed the case and

This system works because the mayor realizes the need for managerial assistance. The city manager
reports only to the mayor while focusing on policy implementation and budgeting. This allows the
mayor to focus on addressing and working for a solution for major problems within the city. The
Commission form allows for the elected commissioners to form a board of administrative
individuals that oversee specific departments. They tend to favor their department the most instead
of public interest. They also fall into the easily corrupt and don't have specific areas of
responsibility. General–Law Cities are usually under a population of 5,000 or cities that have not
adopted the home–rule style of government. With the state limiting the size of council, they also
specify duties of the mayor, municipal officials, and emplacing additional boundaries on matters that
home–rule can determine themselves. A downfall to this style of leadership is that with the small

The Fox And The Lion In Machiavelli's The Prince
In The Prince, there is an analogy that talks about the fox and the lion. It says, "A prince, therefore,
being compelled knowingly to adopt the beast, ought to choose the fox and the lion; because the lion
cannot defend himself against snares and the fox cannot defend himself against wolves. Therefore, it
is necessary to be a fox to discover the snares and a lion to terrify the wolves." (Page 84–85) The
fox is a symbol of the integrity of a ruler. A ruler who is honest, righteous, and faithful can be
strong, but will have a downfall. They won't be able to hold their status once their reasoning is not
helpful. The downfall of the fox is the wolves. The lion is a symbol for a ruler using force, but this
method will also have downfalls. The downfalls of the lion are the snares and traps. This analogy
puts into play the idea that integrity and force oppose each other. One will always be the downfall of
the other. In order for a prince to keep power, he must use both integrity and force. In The Prince,
Machiavelli describes how rulers learned this method through an ancient story. This story is about
Achilles and other princes who were given to a centaur named Chiron to nurse. As a centaur, Chiron
was half beast and half human. He knew how to use both force, like a beast, and integrity, like man.
He taught this method to Achilles and the other princes, who used it to achieve success. This
analogy in The Prince also applies to modern rulers. This method is used by

Mohler's Argument Analysis
While reading Mohler's article, I was intrigued by his view concerning authority. In today's society
the term has become seemingly negative or possibly offensive. This interesting viewpoint caused me
to wonder why the current generations view authority this way. It is possible that it is not viewed
negatively because it is a bad position. Instead, it is possible that the view stems from many who
have abused this position both in secular and religious realms. However, it is most intriguing to
apply this mindset toward preaching.
I agree with Mohler's opinion. It is important that it is never taken lightly and always done
intentionally. The Word of God must be demonstrated as authority and not merely as a suggestion.

Ethics And Morals That Make For A Good Law Enforcement...
There are many ethics and morals that make for a good law enforcement officer, and more

amazing that the values that the military stressed were so unfamiliar to many of the soldiers. I grew

The army values use it as an acronym, leadership. The army is very adamant that all soldiers can be
leaders, maybe that is true, but in my 15 years in, I did not see it that way. I am going to write my
journal on what may just be my jaded perspective of how we define leadership, but I feel it is
important as many law enforcement agencies are taking the same type of approach. I do not think
that all people can be leaders. I don't think it is something that is completely genetic, but I also don't
think it can be taught fully either. I think it is something similar to epigenetics in psychology. There
may be traits that everyone has, but some early life events will help "flip the switch"
psychologically. The military likes to say that there are different leadership styles. I think that at the
core, that philosophy is wrong. Different people may have different ways of interacting with those
that must listen, but at the core leadership should always have the same basic tenants. I think that the
Army used the term leadership because it sounds better than manager or enforcer. I am going to use
this journal to discuss why and how I see the issue of leadership and maybe in doing so I will
change my mind on how I feel when someone self proclaims they are a leader or it is used so often
in speech that it makes me question who is trying to convince whom of the leadership status.

Public Literacy : The Role And Roles Of Public Government
Why?: I chose this particular literacy because I thought it fit perfectly with the lesson objective. As
citizens it is important that we are well informed of each of our branches of government and how
they work, but also the role of each public official. It is important that students become aware of this
so that they may be more informed when voting in the future.

Examples Of Authority In The Crucible
Ben Vanness Hon. English 11 P. 3 The Crucible Essay Authority is not created by the authority

Arthur Miller's The Crucible, is a play based in Salem Massachusetts in 1692. This play displays a
time when America was convulsed in witch–hunting. Certain people assumed important positions of
authority. The most important subject in The Crucible is the authority of the church in society, the
authority of Abigail over people accused by witchcraft, and authority of the judge in a court of law.

Line and Stuff Authority
LINE–AND–STAFF ORGANIZATIONS
Organizational structure involves, in addition to task organizational boundary considerations, the
designation of jobs within an organization and the relationships among those jobs. There are
numerous ways to structure jobs within an organization, but two of the most basic forms include
simple line structures and line–and–staff structures.
In a line organization, top management has complete control, and the chain of command is clear and
simple. Examples of line organizations are small businesses in which the top manager, often the
owner, is positioned at the top of the organizational structure and has clear "lines" of distinction
between him and his subordinates.

LINE–AND–STAFF AUTHORITY
Authority within a line–and–staff organization can be differentiated. Three types of authority are
present: line, staff, and functional. Line authority is the right to carry out assignments and exact
performance from other individuals.
LINE AUTHORITY.
Line authority flows down the chain of command. For example, line authority gives a production
supervisor the right to direct an employee to operate a particular machine, and it gives the vice
president of finance the right to request a certain report from a department head. Therefore, line
authority gives an individual a certain degree of power relating to the performance of an
organizational task.
Two important clarifications should be considered, however, when discussing line authority: (1) line
authority does not ensure effective performance, and (2) line authority is not restricted to line
personnel. The head of a staff department has line authority over his or her employees by virtue of
authority relationships between the department head and his or her directly–reporting employees.
STAFF AUTHORITY.
Staff authority is the right to advise or counsel those with line authority. For example, human
resource department employees help other departments by selecting and developing a qualified
workforce. A quality control manager aids a production manager by determining the acceptable
quality level of products or services at a manufacturing

Corporations Law Assignment
CLAW 2201 Corporations Law Assignment
Introduction
The Corporations Act[1] neither codifies nor excludes rulings at common law in relation to a
company's dealings with outsiders.[2] This means that in advising TV Treats of their contractual
obligations, consideration need be paid to both common law and statutory positions. While there is
some overlap between the two, inconsistencies between sources of law can result, leaving legislation
to take precedence.
A. Authority of a Company Secretary
In considering whether or not TV Treats is bound to pay for both the cocktail party and sponsorship
of the soccer team, the key concerns for the company are whether they can rely on constructive
notice, whether or not Jennifer has authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For while EventsRUs could assume that Jennifer was validly appointed and had the customary
authority of a secretary, it remains unlikely that sponsorship arrangements fall within the customary
powers of secretaries. To this end, in the absence of a representation by the board, TV Treats should
not be bound to pay for the soccer sponsorship.
Summary of Findings:
TV Treats will be bound to pay for the cocktail party, but should be able to avoid their obligations to
the soccer team, under both common law and statutory positions.
B. Execution of Documents
Whether TV Treats will be bound by the banking contract form depends on a number of factors;
whether the contract was properly executed, whether outsiders are affected by management
irregularities, and whether Kevin had authority to warrant that the document was genuine.
Common Law:
In order to bind TV Treats, the banking contract form must have been properly executed. This
requires the signatures from either two directors, or both a director and a company secretary. In this
case, given that Philippa did not have authority to sign as company secretary, the contract should be
deemed ineffective. However, internal management rules may apply.
The question then, is whether TV Treats can escape liability arising from the fact that the Seven
Network should have known Philippa did not have authority to sign as company secretary.

Framework and Cultural Considerations The base of Perry Scheme refers to how college students
learn to acquire knowledge and create their own beliefs (Sabri, D., Rowland, C., Wyatt, J.,

students experience while in college. Theses positions are delineated by the ways in which students
view themselves in relationship with what they believe (Kloss, R. J. 1994). The study done by
William Perry and his colleagues was conducted in the 1950's. The population consisted mainly of

What Is Fin 48?
What is FIN 48?
In 2006 Fin 48 was made effective as proper guidelines to require publicly traded organizations to
assess the probability of tax positions. This mandates that organizations analyze and report any
income tax risks. Some refer to this as "the road map of things to audit for as these reports will

At the beginning of November in 2007 the Statement of Financial Statements (SFAS) board decided

This interpretation of an organizations tax position as a result of FIN 48 is a process that involves
two steps, one being recognition and two being measurement. In step one the organization
determines how likely it is that their stated tax position will be maintained after being audited. This
includes resolving any discrepancies, checking for accuracy, filing for any appeals and conducting
an internal audit. While reviewing their tax position if their tax position will meet set guidelines the
organization should already assume that their financial statements and tax position will be audited
by a relevant taxing agency that will have the necessary knowledge and skill set to accurately audit

Who Walked Away From Omelas Analysis
Oscar Wilde once said "Wherever there is a man who exercises authority, there is a man who resists
authority" (Wilde). In both readings there were authority figures and there were protestors of such
authority. In the Milgram Experiment the man who presented himself in the white lab coat and stood
in the same room as the subjects was the authority figure. The Ones' Who Walked Away From
Omelas showcased the people in charge of enforcing the rules of the city, including how the child
was supposed to be treated, as the authority figures. Although authority is a very respectable thing,
there are always people who will challenge it. With authority being constantly challenged, the
question then, is what makes it legitimate in the first place?
Authority can be defined in many different ways. The Oxford Dictionary defines authority as "the
power to give orders, makes decisions, and enforce obedience" (Dictionary). An authoritative figure
has the power to give commands and have them followed out in whichever ... Show more content on

Although there were many moments of skepticism during the experiments' lifespan, the majority
people continued onward instead of finishing early; this appears to have been due to the persistence
of the man in the lab coat encouraging the subjects to continue on with the experiment. With only
one third of the population of subjects stopping the experiment before its' completion, the authority
of the man in the white coat appears to have been highly legitimate. Nonetheless, all the man in the
white lab coat had over the experiments' subjects was that he knew who the real test subjects were.
He had no real power over any of them, and yet, when he spoke his words were almost always
listened to. His authority was only dependent upon whether or not the test subjects would listen to
him or not, only, the subjects were unaware of this during the time of the

Importance Of Church Discipline
Church discipline is a challenging principle to observe and difficult doctrine to implement for most
churches. However, church discipline can be fully implemented when doctrinal truth and the divine
authority of Scripture stands as its foundation. Since it is commanded by Jesus Christ, the practice
must be resolved through love, liberation, and restoration. R. Stanton Norman shares, "The primary
purpose of church discipline is the restoration (of the offender to right behavior and attitude) and
reconciliation (between believers and with God)." The willingness and commitment of church
members to practice church discipline, displays Christian accountability within the church. This
ministry context will focus on church leaders in positions such as youth pastor and Sunday school
teacher. These ministries aim to provide leadership, encouragement, and training to young people of
all ages. Church leaders are placed in position because of their wisdom, restraint, and qualifications.
They are supposed to be in position as models for others in the local church.
Application
Church duties and responsibilities can become demanding and temptations may surface, which may
lead to violations. Church leaders may find themselves engaged in compromising situations that
require discipline or perhaps being removed from leadership position. If a leader is found to have
committed any act of sexual misconduct involving a minor, the primary goal offers immediate care

Collage Watson Character Analysis
The most important characteristic for effective governmental leaders today is being genuine. The
typical voter in America receives most of its political information from the media. Many times, the
portrayal of politicians is distorted in a way that exclusively highlights characteristics that puts them
in high pedestals. Our system is conditioned to see government officials as perfect, however, those
who are honest and strive to have a natural connection with their constituents make the most
relatable and effective governmental leaders in our democratic system today.
Leaders must be their own selves when engaging with people because this is how they can
sympathize with their constituents, making themselves seem more real and approachable. In ...

During our class field trip to the Texas Capitol, Senator Kirk Watson mentioned how throughout his
time in governmental affairs, he has learned that it is very hard to please everyone. People tend to
see politicians as perfect individuals, but they are also human. By staying true to himself, and living
by his "84%" philosophy, Senator Watson has become one of the most respected and admired
leaders in the Austin area and in the state of Texas. Our governmental leaders today have two main
objectives during their public service years. One of them is to help the communities they represent
to their fullest extent and to the best of their ability. The second one is something everyone involved
in governmental affairs knows but rarely openly admit to is getting re–elected. In order to be
effective leaders who can continue serving their communities, government officials must be able to
relate to the public that initially elect them. Hence, the best governmental leaders are those who not
only engage with people both face to face and on new social media platforms, but who are also

Issue 1 facts: As a result of implementing a certain tax strategy, the Company has included a $100
deduction in its draft tax return, resulting in a $40 reduction to taxes payable. There is uncertainty
over
whether the tax strategy is sustainable under the tax law and therefore over whether the additional
$100 is deductible for tax purposes.
Management thinks that there is a 40% chance that the tax position would be sustained if taken to
the court of last resort. However, on the basis of its past experience in negotiating settlements with
the taxing authority, management believes that if it were to negotiate a settlement with the taxing
authority rather than take the dispute to court, it would have an 80% cumulative probability of
realizing
at least $40 of benefit, 40% chance of realizing $20, 30% chance of realizing $10, and only 20%
chance
of realizing no benefit. The sustainability of this tax position does not affect the tax bases of the

Roles of Women in the Church Essay
In today's society the controversial subject of what positions in the church a woman can hold; has
become incredibly debatable among the nation. Some people believe that women have equal rights
with men and can uphold any position that a man can. Today's society also believes that because a
woman can be in political and business power, then a woman can also be in authority in the church.
However, that could not be farther from the truth a women's positions in the church are defined by
God.
First, a woman's position in the church as a teacher has many standards set by God. The Lord sets
some standards of who a woman is to teach in the church. Gilbert Bilezikian in his book Beyond
Sex Roles, states, "According to the Epistle, women were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Women are more on the caring and loving side, which is better for the needs of children. God has
given women ability to communicate better on the level of a child. Teaching is position within the
church that a woman is qualified to fulfill. The third standard set by God is that women can be
teachers unto other women in the church. In the Bible God says, "The aged women likewise, that
they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of
good things; that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their
children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the
word of God be not blasphemed." (Titus 2:3–5). The older women are to teach the younger women
how treat their husbands and how to raise their children in a way that pleases God. The privilege of
being teachers to other women and children is an ability God has given women to have in the
church.
Second, a woman's position in the church is not to be a preacher in the pulpit. The first reason a
woman cannot be a pastor is because women are not have authority over men. Bacchoicchi states,
"God wasn't prejudices against the women, but he didn't make women equal with the men but He
still added them to part of the worship." God did not make men and women to be equal in authority.
The men are the have the authority and preach to the women. Women do not have the power over

Workplace Gender Inequality Essay
Workplace Gender Inequality
Gender inequality is currently a hot topic in our society. From education, to the entertainment
industry, and more importantly, our daily lives, gender inequality has created a powerful divide
between females and males with the seemingly same qualifications and background. The same trend
follows in the workplace, females are less likely to hold positions of authority compared to their
equivalent male counterparts. This is a key contributor to the lack of gender equality in workplaces
all across the United States.
Presently, people have numerous common misconceptions about the facts and factors of workplace
gender inequality. Most of them sound true and are very believable, but in fact, researchers have
proved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, labor markets with greater percentages of females had more wage equality for both
genders. One other interesting point to note from this study is that female managers were more
likely to help and promote their female subordinates, but only if they held managerial positions that
gave them the authority to make decisions which directly affected the subordinates (Cohen 682).
Fuller and Schoenberger offered their own insight on this topic with their article titled The Gender
Salary Gap which explores the influence of different levels of education, academic achievement,
hands–on career experiences, and choice of major, on the starting salaries of college graduates. They
narrowed their research by choosing candidates that were business majors, such as finance,
accounting, etc. They filled the gaps of previous research by finding measurable factors that affected
the salary gap, and they also asked whether a certain set of characteristics have the same effect later
on in the person's career as it did in the beginning (Fuller 179).
By using quantitative methods such as regression analysis, the decomposition of differentials in
starting salary, and by quantifying candidates' characteristics so they could be easily measured and
compared, they found that the more educated and experienced a woman was, the higher her starting
salary. Education and

Actual Authority and Apparent Authority
The authority of an agent is the act which he is allowed or authorised to do by his principal, and
which will bind his/her principal. Usually, the principal will only be bound by the act of the agent if
the agent acts within his/her authority. There are two types of authority which an agent could rely
on, namely actual authority and apparent or ostensible authority. Actual authority is the authority
given by the principal to the agent and could be in written or oral form. The capacity of an agent to
act is the same as the capacity of his/her principal. The express actual authority of an agent means
that an agent has been told orally or in written form by the principal to act on his behalf. Hence, the
agent's authority may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the company secretary was seen as the chief administrative officer of the company
and is seen to have all the authorities associated with that position. Principal will only be bound by
the acts of an agent that fall within his/her apparent authority, but in certain circumstances, the
principal may bind to the agent's acts even he/she acted outside the scope of his/her authority. An
agent that holds a particular position in an office may hold both actual and apparent authority.
Therefore, the agent's apparent authority is broader than his/her actual authority. Although the agent
is limited by actual authority, the principal is still bound by the acts of the agent where in the case of

Graphic Novels: Civil War, And Bitch Planet
The problem with society is that people deal with laws that often conflict with their values. Instead
of actively addressing the issue, they find themselves helpless in fear of punishment. However, there
are ways to express the societal concerns that are relevant to the current world. One example of this
is through graphic novels. People often think graphic novels are mainly for fun and entertainment.
However, they actually hold some truths to the controversies between the people and superiors that
hold authority positions. The authorities in graphic novels such as V for Vendetta, Marvel: Civil
War, and Bitch Planet represent the injustice and overpowerment of superiors of the real world. The
writers of each graphic novel suggest that there is a huge discrepancy between the power of a

will (Moore 12). The officers threaten V, "You're in trouble, chum. Big trouble. This woman is a
criminal. We're police officers" (Moore 12). One may notice that the officers are attempting to use
their position into getting what they want, which is Evey. The dark hue of the officers with the black
background adds to the idea that people with power have a dark side to them. This contributes to
how authority is capable of imposing their powers over others. It is only if one starts to resist the

Civics Lesson Plan
Elementary Social Studies Methods Summary:
Students will learn about their community's government and leaders. Throughout the lesson,
students will engage in discussions and be visited by an elected local government official. Students
will also conduct their own research to learn more about their local government. Learning Context:
This lesson is designed for third grade and fits in with our community, as our government officials
are part of our local community.
This lesson may require extra time, as our town of Beacon Falls does not have a mayor, which I
think the students would be more familiar with. Instead, the town has a Board of Selectmen.
Objectives:
Students will understand how our local government is run.
CCSS CIV 3.1 Students will be able to distinguish the responsibilities and powers of government
officials at various levels and branches of government and in different times and places Rationale:
It is important for students to understand their role as a citizen of the United States. By looking at
their local community, students will be more engaged in learning about how they fit into their local
democracy.
My long–term goal is for students to not only know what roles different leaders play in a democracy,
but for them to understand how they can effect change. This introductory lesson will get this process
started and will allow the class to brainstorm effective ways to create change.

To refute this, one may say that the leader with authority may not always be the best person for the
job, no matter what the circumstances. For example, for the year of 2016, there was only one
candidate for president of student council, that student would automatically obtain the position
regardless whether he or she was fit for the job or not. In the book and TV show, Under the Dome,
the man with all the power, "Big Jim" is actually a meth dealer who smuggled his way up to power
through blackmail and murder. He utilized his massive amount of money from meth dealing to raise
through the ranks. He caused casualty after casualty and started to hire immature teenagers as police
officers. These teenage police officers took advantage of their shiny badges and abused their power.
But characters like Barbie, Julia, and more stood up to Big Jim and did not just blindly follow his
rule. Without those who questioned authority's power, the town would have fallen into deeper chaos.
All the murders Big Jim and his gang of teenagers had committed would have passed unjustified.

Reward power is basically described in its own name, the rewarding of others for complying, such
as the acknowledging of people's accomplishments, or even money. Coercive power is the fear of
being punished for not complying, such as being terminated from their job. Legitimate power is
basically the position the leader is in, such as a nurse manager. Referent power comes from being
admired and respected. This power gives the leader the ability to influence people just because the
others want to be like them. Expert power is the type of power someone can have if they keep up

be able to influence them. Information power is having information that others want or need.
Connection power is the kind of power someone has when they are in a relationship with or

Building Blocks of Leaders
Authority and Power Leadership requires something known as power and authority. These are
needed to motivate their coworkers and colleagues to act in a certain way. Authority can be given to
a person by the organization they work for in the form of a position, which for instance, could be a
nurse manager. This authority is the right to give orders to others and direct them on what to do. The
difference between power and authority is that power is the ability, not the granted right, to motivate

Prescriptive Authority

  • 1. Prescriptive Authority Advanced practice nurses in the United States are governed by the state boards of nursing of the state in which they practice. There are no uniform rules governing autonomy and prescriptive authority throughout the country. Therefore, there is a disconnect among practitioners who are certified by national credentialing but practice under differing regulations from state to state. This paper will examine support for changes to existing regulations regarding the APRN's prescriptive authority. As of January 2016, 14 states and territories had full prescriptive authority for APRN's (Phillips, 2016). Of the remaining states, 8 have complete prescriptive authority but require a limited post– licensure collaboration term (Phillips, 2016). The remaining states require physician supervision or collaborative agreement (Phillips, 2016). Although those states without full prescriptive authority made updates, they still do not align with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AAPN) position statement regarding prescriptive privilege. The AAPN's position is clear, advanced practice providers practicing within their scope of practice should have unhindered prescriptive rights ("AANP," 2017). Oregon, a ... Studies show patients of APRN's with full practice authority have a better understanding of the role of the role of the advanced practice nurse and the patient and practitioner make healthcare decisions as a team (Choi & De Gagne, 2016). APRN's with autonomy are also found to have better collaborative relationships with the interdisciplinary team, which should lead to better outcomes for patients (Choi & De Gagne, 2016). This aligns closely with the AANP position statement as the APRN makes independent and coordinated care decisions as they practice autonomously ("AANP," ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Status Of The World 's Women The status of the world's women is not only a matter of morality and justice. It is also a political, economic, and social imperative. The evidence is irrefutable: when women are free to develop their talents and contribute fully to their societies, everyone benefits. – Hillary Clinton, 5/12/2010 Women are a large portion of the populace, almost 60% possess professional degrees, make up 47% of the workforce and represent 53% of voters. Despite the fact that they have broken every barrier many times over, women occupy only 18% of the top management positions across the world. While the representation of women in noteworthy positions of political and business sectors has enhanced in some cases, (20 states have female Senators) the leadership pool is still male– dominated. The U.S. places 80th in the world when it comes to female representation in authoritative positions, just ahead of countries that are openly criticized for their treatment of women, like Iraq and Afghanistan. As of 2014, only 4.2% of CEO positions and under 17% of board seats are held by ladies among Fortune 500 organizations. Evidence across the region has shown that having more women in senior authority promotes brilliance in areas of performance. Research demonstrates that organizations with more women in power within governing bodies are more gainful and have higher profits for value. Having more women with political authority brings about better choice and strategy making. Well–taught women and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How Management Is The Key Determinist Essay Management cannot be simply defined, there are several different definitions, and factors influencing whether it is successful. One definition of management is "the ability to forecast and plan, to organise, to command and to co–ordinate" (Naylor 2004, p. 25). In addition, Tony Watson believes management is the ability to organize and pull things together in order to create long–term survival to the organisation (Needle 2010, p. 228). Authority can be defined as the power or right to give orders and make decisions, whereas influence is the ability to affect ideas and actions. In terms of being successful, it can be defined in terms of monetary rewards, whereas others may say it can be defined by having a positive impact on others. In this essay I will assess the idea of management, and the ways in which it can be successful, and whether influence or authority is the key determinist. Authority is fundamental to a business structure as it provides individuals in senior positions to make decisions and give orders to employee's orders to fulfil the requirements of the organisation (Mar, 2013). The role of any individual in a managerial position cannot be under–estimated, firms cannot forecast or execute plans without a strong authoritative manager. The role of authority can be explained through a hierachical structure, in which the higher your position, the level of authority directly increases. Henri Fayol has completed extensive research with regards to management within ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. 2000 Word Essay on Being a Team Leader Non Commissioned officers are a vital part of the United States Army which is why they are often referred to as the "back bone of the Army". Non Commissioned officers play several key roles in the army, everywhere from the lowest Sergeant or Corporal as a team leader to the First Sergeant working as advisory and counter part to a Captain in charge of a Company, to a Command Sergeant Major, responsible for anything fro a battalion to an entire post. Regardless of which position a non commissioned offer finds themselves in their responsibilities inherent to that role are of the utmost importance. If you think an order is illegal, first be sure that you understand both the details of the order and its original intent. With all these things in consideration it is clear that being a non commissioned officer is a job that holds absolute importance in the army. In a field environment the job of a non commissioned officer is to lead their soldiers into combat and issue orders commanding their team, squad or platoon. A team leader in specific is tasked with possibly the most difficult job in the army. They deal with their small group of four or five soldiers but in the most direct hands on approach, more so than any other non commissioned officer job in the Army. Although it is the most junior position as a non commission officer it holds the most difficult task which does a lot to break in a new non commissioned officer. If a team leader fails to do his job its will usually hold the biggest consequences. If a team leader fails his soldiers in a combat situation soldiers can be wounded or killed. Although this is the most extreme outcome a team leader must work hard to learn his position and embrace his duties as quickly and responsibly as possible. Being a team leader in a garrison environment is also very difficult but also a very good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Leaders Without Authority Analysis Moreover, leaders with authority face restrictions and limitations within the boundaries of their work. Leaders without authority have more freedom. Heifetz states, "The scarcity of leadership from people in authority, however, makes it all the more critical to the adaptive success of a polity that leadership be exercised by people without authority" (183). In the chapter, Leaders Without Authority, it demonstrates how leaders who held informal positions, like Gandhi, was successful in accomplishing collective action. Some figures like Martin Luther King, who also held a formal authority in his own subgroup, can step out of his boundaries and lead without authority. Heifetz states, "But these people lead not only within the boundaries of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adaptive work requires innovation and learning to address different challenges. Leaders must adapt to these challenges. They do so by taking account of conflicting values and reality. Further, adaptive work can be done in formal and informal positions. When a leader holds a formal and authoritative position they have the benefit of their power to pursue their goals and the knowledge in approaching routine situations. They provide direction, protection, and order. However, authority can also create boundaries. Leaders without authority have the benefit of freedom by creative deviance and frontline knowledge. An example of a leader who evolved from no formal position to having authoritative control is President Donald Trump. When he was a candidate he had the freedom to say and do certain things. However, now that he is president, he is restricted by the norms of the political organization that is firmly established. Adaptive work can be applied to US policymaking; however, it may face certain challenges in the current administration. Ultimately, adaptive work is a model of leadership that guides a leader to face realities. Realties that they may not want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Genesis 1-2 Wayne Belleville Analysis 1) What were the author's three strongest points? What makes them strong? In my opinion, one of the author's strongest points come from her treatment of Genesis 1–2. She convincingly presents an argument for equality and "sameness" regarding male/female roles in the creation account (26). For example, Belleville notes that both the man and the woman were given the commission to be fruitful and multiple, as well as have dominion over the earth (26), thus they are given equal standing/position from God at the beginning. Additionally, Belleville presents the idea that if there was any submission taking place in the creation account, it was both man and woman submitting to the commission of their creator, God (30). This point proves strong I believe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you." Belleville claims that the latter part of this verse refers to a rift in intimacy between man and woman (34), and not consequence that suggests hierarchy. Although she acknowledges, like many do, that this text is descriptive and not prescriptive, she still tries extremely hard to remove any hint of hierarchy from the text, which appears to be a stretch. Although I agree with her that people should not use this text as justification for hierarchy (35), I think she is stretching to claim that we do not find hierarchy taking place due to the ... This law becomes known as the Protecting American Integrity Act, which addresses the issue of "fake news" in the media. The label of "fake news" is in reference to any published information that portrays elected officials in a negative manner. In contrast, any published information that portrays elected officials in a positive manner shall be labeled as "real news." Whether the information portrays the elected official in a positive or negative manner does not correspond with whether the information is "real" or "fake." The Protecting American Integrity Act would be considered compelled speech, but would not be considered prior restraint. The book defines prior restraint as an "action taken by the government to prohibit publication of a specific document or text before it is distributed to the public; a policy that requires government approval before publication" (Trager, et al., 2016, p. 693). This means that information under prior restraint requires permission from the government before it can be published. An example of prior restraint is the case of Near v. Minnesota. "Minnesota law allowed the state to enjoin publication of any periodical that typically produced 'malicious, scandalous, and defamatory ' content" (Coyle, E., 01/25/17). There was also a use of an injunction which is permission granted by a judge to require that all publication of the scandalous or defamatory information be removed. Jay Near, the defendant in Near v. Minnesota, published in his paper that "city officials were standing by as Jewish gangsters operated gambling, bootlegging and racketeering business across the city" (Trager, et al., 2016, p. 66). Essay On Texas State Government Today we will be discussing the structure and a few roles of the Texas state government, the purpose and function of each type of local government, describing how some states have consolidated the county and city functions into a single entity, and my opinion on whether or not Texas would be better maintaining its several distinct types or consolidating them into a single larger entity. The commissioner's court has several roles such as taxes, discretion in administering state programs, determine how much state funding is provided to each special area (medical, supplemental food, etc.), upkeep and new county jails, all while providing health and safety programs to citizens in rural areas. This system works because the mayor realizes the need for managerial assistance. The city manager reports only to the mayor while focusing on policy implementation and budgeting. They tend to favor their department the most instead of public interest. They also fall into the easily corrupt and don't have specific areas of responsibility. With the state limiting the size of council, they also specify duties of the mayor, municipal officials, and emplacing additional boundaries on matters that home–rule can determine themselves. • 25. The Fox And The Lion In Machiavelli's The Prince In The Prince, there is an analogy that talks about the fox and the lion. It says, "A prince, therefore, being compelled knowingly to adopt the beast, ought to choose the fox and the lion; because the lion cannot defend himself against snares and the fox cannot defend himself against wolves. Therefore, it is necessary to be a fox to discover the snares and a lion to terrify the wolves." (Page 84–85) The fox is a symbol of the integrity of a ruler. A ruler who is honest, righteous, and faithful can be strong, but will have a downfall. They won't be able to hold their status once their reasoning is not helpful. The downfall of the fox is the wolves. The lion is a symbol for a ruler using force, but this method will also have downfalls. The downfalls of the lion are the snares and traps. This analogy puts into play the idea that integrity and force oppose each other. One will always be the downfall of the other. In order for a prince to keep power, he must use both integrity and force. In The Prince, Machiavelli describes how rulers learned this method through an ancient story. This story is about Achilles and other princes who were given to a centaur named Chiron to nurse. As a centaur, Chiron was half beast and half human. He knew how to use both force, like a beast, and integrity, like man. He taught this method to Achilles and the other princes, who used it to achieve success. This interesting viewpoint caused me to wonder why the current generations view authority this way. It is possible that it is not viewed negatively because it is a bad position. Instead, it is possible that the view stems from many who have abused this position both in secular and religious realms. However, it is most intriguing to apply this mindset toward preaching. I agree with Mohler's opinion. It is important that it is never taken lightly and always done intentionally. The Word of God must be demonstrated as authority and not merely as a suggestion. When I joined the military I was introduced to the acronym LDRSHIP (interestingly during basic training they actually taught it as RCHILDS). I found it amazing that the values that the military stressed were so unfamiliar to many of the soldiers. I grew up in a household that used the "Army" values as a standard for living a good and productive life. The values that the Army stressed will always be my basis for any type of public service job. I am going to write my journal on what may just be my jaded perspective of how we define leadership, but I feel it is important as many law enforcement agencies are taking the same type of approach. I do not think that all people can be leaders. I don't think it is something that is completely genetic, but I also don't think it can be taught fully either. I think it is something similar to epigenetics in psychology. There may be traits that everyone has, but some early life events will help "flip the switch" psychologically. The military likes to say that there are different leadership styles. I think that at the core, that philosophy is wrong. Different people may have different ways of interacting with those that must listen, but at the core leadership should always have the same basic tenants. I think that the Army used the term leadership because it sounds better than manager or enforcer. I am going to use this journal to discuss why and how I see the issue of leadership and maybe in doing so I will change my mind on how I feel when someone self proclaims they are a leader or it is used so often in speech that it makes me question who is trying to convince whom of the leadership status. Rather, authority is given to him by the people of his own society. Arthur Miller's The Crucible, is a play based in Salem Massachusetts in 1692. This play displays a time when America was convulsed in witch–hunting. Certain people assumed important positions of authority. The most important subject in The Crucible is the authority of the church in society, the authority of Abigail over people accused by witchcraft, and authority of the judge in a court of law. There are numerous ways to structure jobs within an organization, but two of the most basic forms include simple line structures and line–and–staff structures. In a line organization, top management has complete control, and the chain of command is clear and simple. Three types of authority are present: line, staff, and functional. Line authority is the right to carry out assignments and exact performance from other individuals. LINE AUTHORITY. Line authority flows down the chain of command. For example, line authority gives a production supervisor the right to direct an employee to operate a particular machine, and it gives the vice president of finance the right to request a certain report from a department head. Therefore, line authority gives an individual a certain degree of power relating to the performance of an organizational task. Two important clarifications should be considered, however, when discussing line authority: (1) line authority does not ensure effective performance, and (2) line authority is not restricted to line personnel. The head of a staff department has line authority over his or her employees by virtue of authority relationships between the department head and his or her directly–reporting employees. STAFF AUTHORITY. Staff authority is the right to advise or counsel those with line authority. For example, human resource department employees help other departments by selecting and developing a qualified workforce. While there is some overlap between the two, inconsistencies between sources of law can result, leaving legislation to take precedence. A. Authority of a Company Secretary In considering whether or not TV Treats is bound to pay for both the cocktail party and sponsorship of the soccer team, the key concerns for the company are whether they can rely on constructive notice, whether or not Jennifer has authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For while EventsRUs could assume that Jennifer was validly appointed and had the customary authority of a secretary, it remains unlikely that sponsorship arrangements fall within the customary powers of secretaries. To this end, in the absence of a representation by the board, TV Treats should not be bound to pay for the soccer sponsorship. Summary of Findings: TV Treats will be bound to pay for the cocktail party, but should be able to avoid their obligations to the soccer team, under both common law and statutory positions. B. Execution of Documents Whether TV Treats will be bound by the banking contract form depends on a number of factors; whether the contract was properly executed, whether outsiders are affected by management irregularities, and whether Kevin had authority to warrant that the document was genuine. Common Law: In order to bind TV Treats, the banking contract form must have been properly executed. This requires the signatures from either two directors, or both a director and a company secretary. In this case, given that Philippa did not have authority to sign as company secretary, the contract should be deemed ineffective. However, internal management rules may apply.

In step one the organization determines how likely it is that their stated tax position will be maintained after being audited. This includes resolving any discrepancies, checking for accuracy, filing for any appeals and conducting an internal audit. While reviewing their tax position if their tax position will meet set guidelines the organization should already assume that their financial statements and tax position will be audited by a relevant taxing agency that will have the necessary knowledge and skill set to accurately audit all documents. However, church discipline can be fully implemented when doctrinal truth and the divine authority of Scripture stands as its foundation. Since it is commanded by Jesus Christ, the practice must be resolved through love, liberation, and restoration. R. The willingness and commitment of church members to practice church discipline, displays Christian accountability within the church. Instead of actively addressing the issue, they find themselves helpless in fear of punishment. However, there are ways to express the societal concerns that are relevant to the current world. One example of this is through graphic novels. People often think graphic novels are mainly for fun and entertainment. However, they actually hold some truths to the controversies between the people and superiors that hold authority positions. The authorities in graphic novels such as V for Vendetta, Marvel: Civil War, and Bitch Planet represent the injustice and overpowerment of superiors of the real world. The writers of each graphic novel suggest that there is a huge discrepancy between the power of a targeted group and authorities. Therefore, the graphic novel effectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... V represents a small percentage of people that are opposed to the right–wing authoritarian government. Essentially, he is society's "hope" in fighting against fascism. This graphic novel describes how violence is used to resist the higher authorities. For example, V confronts the higher officials that corner Evey after she tries to make a living out of sleeping with other men out of her will (Moore 12). The officers threaten V, "You're in trouble, chum. Big trouble. This woman is a criminal. We're police officers" (Moore 12). One may notice that the officers are attempting to use their position into getting what they want, which is Evey. The dark hue of the officers with the black background adds to the idea that people with power have a dark side to them. This contributes to how authority is capable of imposing their powers over others. It is only if one starts to resist the power of the higher officials will no longer overrule ... Throughout the lesson, students will engage in discussions and be visited by an elected local government official. Students will also conduct their own research to learn more about their local government. Learning Context: This lesson is designed for third grade and fits in with our community, as our government officials are part of our local community. CCSS CIV 3.1 Students will be able to distinguish the responsibilities and powers of government officials at various levels and branches of government and in different times and places Rationale: It is important for students to understand their role as a citizen of the United States. My long–term goal is for students to not only know what roles different leaders play in a democracy, but for them to understand how they can effect change. But those who have authority resting in the palms of their hands, it does not make them perfect. In the book and TV show, Under the Dome, the man with all the power, "Big Jim" is actually a meth dealer who smuggled his way up to power through blackmail and murder. He utilized his massive amount of money from meth dealing to raise through the ranks. He caused casualty after casualty and started to hire immature teenagers as police officers. These teenage police officers took advantage of their shiny badges and abused their power. But characters like Barbie, Julia, and more stood up to Big Jim and did not just blindly follow his rule. Without those who questioned authority's power, the town would have fallen into deeper chaos. All the murders Big Jim and his gang of teenagers had committed would have passed unjustified. Coercive power is the fear of being punished for not complying, such as being terminated from their job. Legitimate power is basically the position the leader is in, such as a nurse manager. Referent power comes from being admired and respected. This power gives the leader the ability to influence people just because the others want to be like them. Expert power is the type of power someone can have if they keep up with the current knowledge and keep their skills up to date. This gains enough respect from others to be able to influence them. Now we all know a leader is someone who leads people to complete sets of common goals and tasks. Leaders are everywhere. They are doing everyday things and seeing everyday people, but they are leaders in their profession, and that includes nursing. You could say that nursing is a profession that runs on leaders, and these leaders have different styles of moving about and getting things done. There are different types of leaders, different theories regarding those leaders, and what traits those individuals need to exhibit to be a good, or even exceptional leader. Building Blocks of Leaders Authority and Power Leadership requires something known as power and authority. These are needed to motivate their coworkers and colleagues to act in a certain way. Authority can be given to a person by the organization they work for in the form of a position, which for instance, could be a nurse manager. This authority is the right to give orders to others and direct them on what to do.
