leadership is best served when shared amongst those who you work with. Without
humility how can you fully understand the needs of those who you are trying to lead? In
my time served in the Army I have come across many different leadership styles such
as, "Do what I say, because I say", "I don't care how you do it just do it!" and my
personal favorite "I'm busy right now, come back later can't you figure it out?".
I found myself distancing myself from these types of Leaders and at times
blocking them out mentally. That's not to say that all the leaders I have encountered

Army Leadership Definition
Too often the Army seeks to solve dynamic issues through management processes while underutilizing leadership. The Army is prone to this in part
because it does not distinguish between leadership and management in doctrine or practice. There has been an ongoing debate in Military review as to
the relationship between command, leadership and management. In the Army, leadership and management merge into one concept. As leadership is
doctrinally conceptualized in managerial terms, it limits the scope of personal power. It is difficult, if not impossible, to conduct management functions
that stretch outside the bounds of a given authority. Management is important and necessary; however, leadership initiates effective and lasting change
in our Soldiers. The Army's definition of leadership is "the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation" (ADP 6–22,
2012). However, the Army's, Army Doctrinal Reference Publication (ADRP) 1–02 does not include a doctrinal definition for management nor is there a

This was my ship's clement. It felt like it was every non–rate for them selves, with petty officer, chiefs and officers on a high horse. There was no
motivation or spirit being instilled is us and I knew this was wrong. Even thou it seem mostly negative, they where good shipmates who helped
