Common Name: American lady
Scientific Name: Vanessa virginiensis
Order and Family: Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae
Size and Appearance:
The eggs are yellow–green. Larvae can be fully grown to approximately 1.4 inches in length with
variable body colors. Pupae may be either greenish with purple markings or grayish with dark
markings, with approximately 0.75 inches in length. They are attached by the terminal end to a small
silk pad by the cremaster to hang vertically. The wing spread of adults is 1.75 to 2.40 inches. The
upper surface of the wings is orange–brown with black margins while the front wings have white
spots on the outer third. The lower side of the front wings has a bright pink area. Part of the
forewing margin is concave, which makes it different from the similar and closely related painted
lady, Vanessa cardui. There are a characteristic "cob–web" pattern and two large eye spots near the
margin on the lower side of the hind wing, where there is a row of four smaller eye spots for the
painted lady. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The early season form is larger and more brightly colored while the late season form is smaller and
is paler in color with reduced black markings.
Type of feeder (Chewing, sucking, etc.): Siphoning–sucking
Host plant/s:
American lady favors sunflower family plants. Pensylvania everlasting, Gamochaeta pensylvanica,
spoonleaf purple everlasting, Gamochaeta purpurea, pearly everlasting, Anaphalis margaritacea, and
pussytoes, Antennaria spp., are commonly used as larval hosts. Adults prefer floral nectar but also
feed on sap, fermenting fruit, and mud. Flower nectar almost exclusively, including dogbane, aster,
goldenrod, marigold, selfheal, common milkweed, and vetch.
Description of Damage: Caterpillars chew foliage, sometimes causing significant defoliation.

Slingshot Dives Research
Want to drop some time when swimming? Did you know that the most popular events in swim are
100 and 50 meters swims. Because these events go by so fast, you need to make sure that every part
of your swim is wickedly fast. Slingshot dives are great for making you faster when swimming
because it makes it easier for an ultimate underwater right after you dive and it gives you a lot of
power for the rest of your swim.
Slingshot dives make it easier to form an ultimate underwater. This is because it helps you get
further underwater and can help you get into a streamline. If you do this kind of dive, I can
guarantee that you will be ready when the beep sounds; and won't false start and dive too early.
Diving too late can also ruin your swim because

Causes Of The Monarch Butterfly
So are we just going to ignore the fact that Monarch Butterflies are in trouble? We're just going to
ignore the fact that we could easily help, but we choose not to?The monarch butterfly is an insect
that relies their life on milkweed plants and is currently facing the problem of milkweed declining,
but it can be solved by planting milkweeds causing the butterfly population to increase rapidly.
The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It's the most common
butterfly in North America , and is considered an "iconic pollinator species".(Conserving Monarch
butterflies And their habitats). The Monarch Butterflies have many nicknames such as, "milkweed,
common tiger, wanderer and black veined brown"(Danaus).
The Monarch Butterfly's life cycle has four stages, it begins with the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa,
and then it emerges into an Adult butterfly. The female adult monarch butterfly mates with a male
butterfly, and later lays its eggs specifically on a milkweed plant. After the eggs hatch, they turn into
larva. The larva then spins a silky mat which turns into a chrysalis. Finally, the larva merges into an
adult monarch butterfly.
The monarch butterflies differ in migration than the any other species that migrate as well. The
reason why the monarchs are different than other species is that they later come back to their
previous winter location while other species stay.Monarch Butterflies migrate over 300,000 miles,
for they can not stand the harsh cold temperatures. Every fall, they come from northern United
States of America and migrate to southern United States of America, and at times they migrate all
the way down to Mexico. Since monarch butterflies have" a complicated life cycle"(Migration)
monarchs that have emerged in the winter do not yet reproduce until they're in the summer or spring
season. On the other hand, monarch butterflies that are emerged in the summer or springtime
reproduce rapidly. In addition, it's important for the monarchs to know when they have to migrate to
the south and back to the winter.
Sadly, the monarch butterflies are drastically decreasing due to the fact that the plant they need to
survive, the milkweed plant, is slowly but surely diminishing.

The Monarch Butterfly : The Life Of The Monarch Butterfly
Introduction:
My project is about the monarch butterfly. I will be explaining how the monarch butterflies migrate
and how they use the earth's magnetic field to do so. The Danaus Plexippus or commonly known as
the Monarch butterfly. It such a beautiful insect, yet no one really knows about their migration and
how they use the Earth's magnetic field to do this. The Monarch Butterfly lives in more than one
place. The monarchs spend their summer and spring in Canada and the migrate south to Mexico to
escape the cold weather and snow. Most winters, this weather reaches an incredible icy temperature
of nearly –15 degrees Celsius. No one knows for sure how these fascinating insects migrate these
thousands of kilometres, but it is thought to be a combination of the Earth's magnetic field and Solar
navigation. Monarch butterflies are born as caterpillars and caterpillars feed almost entirely on
milkweed. When they have transformed into a butterfly they feed on nectar from flowers. The
monarch butterfly always goes back to a milkweed plant to lay their eggs. The milkweed plant that
caterpillars digest is a poisonous toxin. This is the reason that the butterfly tastes horrible to
predators.
Migratory path: There are two main reasons why the monarch butterflies migrate. Firstly, Monarchs
cannot survive in such low temperatures of nearly –15 degrees, and secondly, they rely on a source
of plant called milkweed, but milkweed does not grow in cold weather, and they

According to National Geographic monarch butterflies travel up to 3,000 miles each fall to their
wintering site in central Mexico. In 2004, an estimated 550 million completed the winter migration,
while in 2003 only 33 million arrived. Further, between 2012 and 2013, there was a 43.7 percent
decrease in the area occupied by the butterflies in the winter sanctuaries, the decline has numerous
reasons: climate change, deforestation, and habitat loss, agricultural use of pesticides and herbicides

The Butterfly Life Cycle
According to National Geographic the four generations of these butterflies are constituted by 4
separate butterflies that complete the 4 unique phases in just one year. After this, they restart the
same cycle, commencing with the primary stage of the first generation.
Stage 1
February and March: Locate a mate and search for an ideal place to lay their eggs
Stage 2
March–April: They lay their eggs on the leaves of milkweed plants. The larvae eat, grow and
metamorphose into chrysalis.
Stage 3
May–June: The third generation butterflies live out a life–cycle like the first generation. They then
perish about fifteen days after metamorphosing into spectacular adult butterflies.
Stage 4
This generation repeats the processes the other generations of Monarch butterflies underwent, but
with the one crucial difference of traveling to California through Mexico to enjoy the warmer
climate there. They live for six to eight months until they again get ready to undertake the return.
The Migration
How these butterflies take a particular direction for migration is an unsolved mystery of our
generation. They fly at speeds ranging between 12 to 25 miles an hour. Similar to the migrating
birds, the monarch butterflies use the clear advantage of updrafts of warm air, called thermals and
glide as they migrate, to preserve the energy required for flapping their

Butterfly Essay
Butterflies fill an important role in ecosystems. The order Lepidoptera, which includes moths as
well as butterflies, when present in high numbers they indicate a healthy ecosystem with a wide
range of invertebrates. They are a natural pest control and pollinator species, contributing to success
of other invertebrates. As well as playing a role in food webs. There are 320 species present in
Europe, at least 112 are endemic. There are four stages in the butterfly life cycle from egg (ovum),
to caterpillar (larva), to chrysalis (pupa) and butterfly (imago), each stage undergoing a complete
stage of metamorphosis (Higgins & Riley, 1970).
Known as the most colourful order in the class Insecta, butterflies and moths vary in size with two
large colourful scaled wings, the scales hold the colour pigment giving them the name Lepidoptera
(Higgins & Riley, 1970). The head, body and legs are also usually scaled. They have sucking
mouthparts, mandibles which are usually versidual and coupled maxillae which form a tubular
sucking proboscis which is coiled (peculiar to Lepidoptera) (Higgins & Riley, 1970). Their
exoskeleton is made of chitin, with muscles attached on the inside, the exoskeleton providing
protection. They have two compound eyes and a thorax which is divided into three segments, each
with a pair of legs and the second and third also with a pair of wings (Brusca & Brusca, 2003).
You can distinguish a butterfly from a moth because of their chubbed antennae; by having the two

When I was four years of age I attended a swimming club at Seven Islands in Southwark. The pool
was fairly large and was rarely crowded, that was one comfort for me. Seven Islands had many
activities other than swimming, I myself did not choose to do swimming my mum had decided that I
would benefit from it.
My first day at the club started in a shallow pool opposite a larger one. I already knew two people
who came with me, that made me feel a little confident despite the crying of other children. We had
two instructors a man and a women both were roughly in their thirties the man had brown hair and
was quite tall, the women had blonde hair and was full figured and short. The ... Show more content

The day I learned to swim was a normal day, one month after I started. After school my mum
brought me home to get my swimming gear ready for swimming, when I arrived at Seven Islands I
was told that one of the instructors had gone on holiday, in his place was a new women who was tall
and had brown hair and was from Australia. The new lady was nice and spoke softly. She and the
other women decided to see if we could swim without assistance, she started with me first she held
both of my hands and told me to start kicking before I knew it she let go of my hands so I had to rely
on moving them to support myself I then realized that I was actually swimming alone, after about
three seconds I caught the ledge, the shock of it distracted me I could not believe it. When the
instructress went on to other people I tried again this time using different styles of swimming I was
confident with diving and front stroke. At the end of the session I was pleased with myself and so
were my friends.
Three years after practicing and learning more and more I kept attending I never missed a session

that each member acknowledged that the club was moving and that you would still attend. I decided

Reflection On The Experience Of Swimming
I thought that I was one of the best swimmers in Manchester before I joined the swim team. My
mom always bragged to others that I swam like a fish when I passed two levels of swimming lessons
in two weeks. I was overly confident of my talent, and that all changed on the first day of swim team
practice. As soon as the first practice started, I thought it would be the easiest practice since it was
the first one, but after three laps of swimming, I was struggling to catch my breath. My confidence
dropped immediately, and after the practice ended, I became very unsure if I belonged on the team.
After practice, I went home to discuss with my mom about how I could improve, because my mom
isn't a skilled swimmer, I went to the next practice not knowing how I could improve my swimming
ability and endurance. Two weeks into practices was my first swim meet. It had been your average
summer day in June; sunny with clear skies, warm and humid. When I woke up that morning a got a
text from my mom for the events I would be swimming in later that afternoon. I was signed up to
swim the 50 meter butterfly in one relay, 50 meter freestyle in another relay, and the dreaded 100
meter freestyle swim. For the 100 meter swim I was put in the 15–18 year old division because our
swim team wasn't very big, so I had to swim up a level. After scrolling through my events I carried
on with my normal morning routine.
Once 1:00 came I shoved all of my swim items into a duffle bag and headed out the

The Physics Of Swimming Is Science
Freestyle Stroke Essay
Swimming is science. When a person swims, they are displacing water. In Ancient Greek times, a
physicist named Archimedes discovered the principle of buoyancy. Archimedes Principle states that
an object in gravity applies a force, or a buoyancy, to whatever it is surrounded in. When a person
submerges him or herself in water, the water levels will rise. The density of a person or object
determines if its floatation. If an object is more dense than the water, it will sink. On the contrary, an
object lighter than water will float. There are various styles or strokes including breaststroke,
freestyle, and more. Freestyle swimming consists of many components that combine to efficiently
swim. Physics is a subtle yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The head is important. If the head is pressed down, the lower body will stay afloat. In our first few
days, our class practiced 6' foot and 9' vessels. We had a small competition that checked to see
which person could glide the furthest. The typical goals for the vessel competitions were 4 feet and
4.5 feet. This taught our class how to properly use our body in the freestyle stroke to eliminate drag.
Another lesson we learned was to swim with high elbows. The pull of the water causes a lot of
frontal drag and keeping closer to the water surface reduced the amount of drag. This was another
way to reduce drag.
Lower body movement is essential. Propulsion off of the wall could easily kick start swimming. The
stronger the push, the better. From there, a swimmer could start kicking. The first kick we learned
was the flutter kick, probably the most basic kick in swimming. With straight legs, move the legs up
and down alternatively. It requires the movement of hips, legs, and feet. Next, we learned about
dolphin kicks. This kick requires one to move their whole body like a wave. While streamlining,
press the chest down then release. As the chest rises, thrust the hips down with the legs following.
The legs must be tightly pressed together, knees should be slightly bent as the hips sink, and feet
must be pointed. As the lower body rises and the upper body dips, straighten the knees to push
through the water. Both kicks effectively propel a person

Reflection Of A Reflection On Teaching
Reflection for Co– Teaching This semester was my first time working with 3rd graders at an IB
school. This type of school is structured much differently than all the other elementary schools in
Jefferson County. The curriculum at this school is a concept driven curriculum that helps students
construct meaning through improved critical thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are
inquiry based. Inquiry based instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts
through exploration rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said, my
cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students engaged in
learning and doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a specific book to teach with, yet he
had essential questions and standards that needed to be met in Science. The lesson was centered on
the 3rd grade Colorado academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the concept of the
duration and timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential question of how
humans can have a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and insects was also a
guiding factor in the lesson. My CT and one of his co–workers that taught 3rd grade came up with
this lesson with the help of the Butterfly Pavilion, who provided specimens, exploration, and
butterfly holder nets for the classroom.
This lesson was a great activity that captivated an idea learned in my college class that

Velma Gratch And The Way Cool Butterfly Analysis
This text analysis is based off the book Velma Gratch and the Way Cool Butterfly by Alan Madison.
The Lexile level of this book is AD750L, the reasoning behind this rating is due to all the
vocabulary placed throughout the book. In our study of Beck from last semester, we explored the
idea of tiered vocabulary. This book is filled with tier three vocabulary including specific types of
butterflies and the different parts of a butterfly. These are terms that cannot be brought into a variety
of subjects and that are unlikely to be known previously by students. In addition, there are also
high–level vocabulary words, that make the Lexile level go up as they are only used once
throughout the book. In Readability and the Common Core's Staircase of Text Complexity by
Elfrieda H. Hiebert, it mentions that as vocabulary words are used more frequently the Lexile level
decreases as these words become more common. In this book, words such as "miraculous",
"spectacular", "muddled", "coincidence", "conservation", "slathered", "gurgled", and "migration" are
all used either once or just a few times. Which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book is a literal text, with some inferential ideas. Students would need to make inferences about
Velma and her decisions. Such as the reason that Velma does some of the things she does, is so she
is remembered as more than just the third Gratch sister. In addition to having students make
inferences, this book allows students to activate their background knowledge and make predictions.
Through the sibling rivalry and idea of science students need to use what they already know to make
the inferences. With the text being predictable and the story having a fairly common story, students
should be able to pause and make their own predict what may happen

To Pimp A Butterfly Analysis
Kendrick Lamar's third studio album, "To Pimp a Butterfly," sheds light on the struggle of achieving
rich and fame and the trials that come with. Rolling Stone and Billboard praised the album awarding
it the best album of 2015. The album depicts the difficulties of fame by putting the trials and
tribulations on display; the inability for those to adjust to their new lifestyle and the potential
temptations that creep in. "To Pimp a Butterfly" has been both a divisive and uniting factor in its
emergence in popular culture.
Kendrick Lamar grew up in the city of Compton. Lamar's father was a member of a gang in Chicago
before they moved to Compton. His mother's brothers had ties to the notorious gang the Compton
Crips. When Lamar was eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lamar states that "Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and
the same." Caterpillars can become butterflies through metamorphosis, or in the case of Kendrick
Lamar, through finding their gifts and talents. A caterpillar only becomes a butterfly when it breaks
out of its cocoon.
The title "To Pimp a Butterfly" is in and of itself the central message Lamar is communicating with
the listener. "To Pimp a Butterfly" refers to the downfall (whether that be intellectually or
physically) of butterflies. That downfall occurs when butterflies become seduced by fame and
fortune often by their own desires or, in some cases, by their exploitation. A "pimped" butterfly
perpetuates the idea that the only lifestyle to live is one based on status and wealth.
The opening track of the album is entitled "Wesley's Theory." Wesley, in this instance, is in
reference to Wesley Snipes. Wesley Snipes is known for his income tax conviction which, when
juxtaposed onto Lamar's extended metaphor, makes him a pimped butterfly. The track divides each
of the two verses into separate perspectives. The first verse is from the caterpillars perspective in the
mindset of consumption, "I 'ma buy a brand new Caddy on fours/Trunk the hood up, two times,
deuce–four/Platinum on everythin ', platinum on weddin ' ring/Married to the game." The game
being fame and fortune. The second perspective is capitalist America represented by Uncle Sam.

A bright array of lights dotted the dark landscape beneath the plane where I sat It was late, around

About 1:30 a.m. we landed in the airport at San Jose International Airport. I was exhausted but the
beauty of the landscape would be only a shimmer of what was to come. The second I stepped off of
the plane I felt anxious and hot, very hot. This being my first time outside of the United States was a
completely new experience and everything was foreign to me. After we retrieved our bags from the
baggage claim we headed out and were promptly picked up by a bus which carried us out of the city
of San Jose, Costa Rica through mountains and jungle and delivered us to our cabins where we
would be staying for the week. After a combined sixteen hours of travel we were here. As we stood
on top of what seemed to me to be a mountain overlooking the city I was taken aback I have never
seen anything like it. It was amazing. The next morning we woke up as early as 5:00 a.m. to get
ready for what was to be a long day. Each morning we would travel to a church where we would
hold a worship service and eat breakfast, after each breakfast and worship service we would go off

Monarch Butterfly Research Paper
When people think of a monarch butterfly they think of a small creature with wings and antennae.
But monarch butterflies are way more than that. They have beautiful colors, they go through
metamorphosis to become the beautiful butterflies they are, and they travel across the country. This
is why I believe monarch butterflies are amazing creatures.
How they become a monarch Monarchs are amazing creatures because they go threw the process of
metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is the transformation of an immature form (caterpillar) into an adult
form or adult stage (butterfly). The Monarchs lay their eggs on milkweed which is the plant they eat.
Monarch butterflies do not have a live birth they are born in eggs. When the eggs hatch the larvae
come out of the shell and eat the eggshell they hatched from and they eat the milkweed the eggs
were laid on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Larvae have three distinct body parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen. Their head is equipped with
a pair of antennae, an upper lip, mandibles, a lower lip, and six simple eyes called ocelli." Even with
many eyes their vision is still poor." But that is what their antennae are for. The Monarchs antennae
help them guide them because of their poor sight. "The antennae are also helpful for eating." This is
because the antennae help guide the food into the butterflies jaws. During the larvae, pupa, or
caterpillar stage the butterflies only live on Milkweed plants. The Milkweed plants glycogen toxins
which don't have any effect on the Monarchs, but this plant is poisonous to the Monarchs predators.
Monarchs eat all sections of the milkweed plant and they store the toxins in their bodies. Adult
Monarchs eat nectar from a big range of flowers, including the milkweed.

after the Human had left, noticing as the Human would walk, that he was beginning to limp and was
more hunched over than before– growing older with every meeting. However, Moth would quickly

Giant Butterflies Symbolism
Vladimir Kush on his beautiful oil canvas has depicted a three–masted sailing ship heading out to
the open sea on a windy day. The ship is very different than your everyday sailing ship what strike
out most is the giant butterflies that form the sails on the ship; it's as if these butterflies are catching
the heavy wind that is blowing out into the sea. The conditions on the sea look fairly calm but the
sea looks wavy and moving clouds show us the strong wind that is carrying the ship out. People on
the shore are seen holding windsock as an indication to show the strength of the wind. People are
also seen wind surfing across the seashore and there too butterfly wings have taken over the place of
traditional sails.
The beautiful painting is a visual treat to anyone laying eyes on it. The blue sky the wavy water the
sailboats all are ironic to any coastal shore. The moon on the distance is an indication that it's early
dusk or dawn. The sea looks windswept but calm and clear rather than stormy and angry. The ship is
setting out on a long journey but the butterflies are an indication to a positive spin on departure so
it's probably intended for people who have had or will have firsthand experience with departure and
those emotions.
Winged ship is portrayed to bring in a calming and cheering effect. And Kush has used his
imagination to depict the painting; he has used pure imagination in creating winged ship. And a lot
is dependent on the kind of condition that he was born in,

True flies are insects of the order Diptera (from the Greek di = two, and ptera = wings). The most
obvious distinction from other orders of insects is that a typical fly possesses a pair of flight wings
on the mesothorax and a pair of halteres, derived from the hind wings, on the metathorax. (Some
species of flies are exceptional in that they are secondarily flightless.) The only other order of
insects bearing two true, functional wings plus any form of halteres are the Strepsiptera, and in

In some flies, this is a temporary rotation during mating, but in others, it is a permanent torsion of
the organs that occurs during the pupal stage. This torsion may lead to the anus being located below
the genitals, or, in the case of 360° torsion, to the sperm duct being wrapped around the gut, despite
the external organs being in their usual position. When flies mate, the male initially flies on top of
the female, facing in the same direction, but then turns round to face in the opposite direction. This
forces the male to lie on his back for his genitalia to remain engaged with those of the female, or the
torsion of the male genitals allows the male to mate while remaining upright. This leads to flies
having more reproduction abilities than most insects, and at a much quicker rate. Flies occur in great
populations due to their ability to mate effectively and in a short period of time during the mating

Different Forms For Swimming : The Importance Of Swimming
Swimming is a sport that can be swum individually or as a team. It's typically swum in filtered
swimming pools, but sometimes competitions can take place in open bodies of water. The overall
objective is to swim faster than your competition. The race can be swum in different forms; the
butterfly stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, front crawl, freestyle, an individual medley, and a relay
race. Swimming each stroke requires specific techniques, and in competition, there are specific
regulations concerning the acceptable form for the different strokes.
A front crawl calls for you to kick hard with your feet, while bringing your arms over your head and
into the water one at a time. While the backstroke has many similarities to the front crawl, you float
on your back, rather than propel your front through the water first. The butterfly stroke calls for you
to bring both arms over your head at the same time and push them into the water to propel yourself.
The butterfly stroke uses a dolphin–style kick, which means that your legs will stay straight and
together as you kick them through the water. The breaststroke usually means a frog–style kick,
where you will bend your knees and then kick your legs out beneath the water. Your arm stroke will
begin with a sweep out from your chest and then a sweep in back to your chest. Finally, although not
used in competition, the sidestroke holds importance for swimmers because you can use it to rescue
someone, since it only requires one arm.

How Does Jem Mature In To Kill A Mockingbird
Before coming into the world, butterflies are secured in their safe cocoon, forced to be exposed to
the life that surrounds them. They start off as caterpillars, not aware of the horrors of the world that
are awaiting them when they make that final transformation. The butterfly's cocoon is the last barrier
and once it's shattered, the butterfly immediately starts making decisions and modifications based on
this newfound society. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, this process is revealed in the
children of Maycomb, Jem, Scout, and Dill, when they discover the unjust ways of their society.
Overall, Lee successfully demonstrates how children lose innocence and start to grow up because of
influences coming from their environment.

(304). Atticus tries to explain the truth about the horrid trial going on and how society is addressing
it, but this is all new information to Jem and he can't believe how the town is handling the situation
of the trial. His anger is perceived when he "punched his pillow" as he attempts to release the build
up from inside. It also mentions that his face is "cloudy," revealing how he can't see the other side of
the problem at hand: the culture of his community. This "cloudy" outlook also shows him in a state
of confusion, which can comprehend as Jem being caught between his innocence and losing it.
Likewise, Scout is able to use her newfound understanding of the situation of Boo Radley to reflect
a past thought through symbolism. When talking to Atticus about the death of Mr. Ewell, Atticus
says, "Scout...Mr. Ewell fell on his knife. Can you possibly understand?" Scout responds, "Yes sir I

Paddle Boarding History
Paddle boarding is a fun activity almost anyone can do. Paddle boarding has increased in popularity
over the last few years. In Annapolis where it has a great culture in boating paddle boarding has
increased in popularity with the sail boats catching wind paddlers are catching the slow calm
strokes. Paddle boarding is a simple fun exercise. If you are a beginner it is simple, follow these
easy steps: first, slowly get up to your feet. After you have steadied yourself make sure your feet are
shoulder length apart. After you have accomplished those two steps make sure your grip on the
paddle is nice and secure (make sure to grab the top of the paddle). The final step is to dip the
paddle completely into the water and using your back muscles push through the water. Debating on

Anyone on a paddle board must have a lifejacket approved by the United States coast guard. Anyone
12 and under is required to wear their lifejacket. Of course different rules vary in different areas.
Other safety requirements include having a whistle or other sound device loud enough to warn
boaters of your presence. Paddle boarding after dark, you must have a flashlight or light source to
show any possible boaters where you are. Clothing for paddle boarding can depend on the weather
and what season it currently is. On warmer days wearing a simple swimsuit for ladies will do but
always make sure to apply sunscreen and swim trunks for the boys. Cooler days wetsuits can be
very helpful. For people who like to stay dry or like to protect themselves from the sun more,
wearing board shorts of rash guards can be very helpful. Overall paddle boarding is a fun activity
and it is good exercise. Next time you decided to jump in the water just remember the safety rules

Descriptive Essay About Mackinac Island
"Ahh. I took a deep breath of sweet air that smelled of fudge, which was accented by manure from
one of the most popular things about Mackinac Island– horses! It was awesome to be back here after
a year. Every year, it is hard to leave Mackinac. Every year, leaving is like breaking a chain that
keeps you tied to the island. Every year, I miss the horses and the fudge, the amazing views and
skipping rocks in the water. All of these finer qualities of Mackinac Island and more, makes me not
want to leave. Once back home last year, the hours in a day seemed to drag along, but I'd look back
at the end of the week and think: wow, it's been a week already?
A rippling breeze stirred as my family and I coasted into downtown Mackinac Island, which
happened to be cloudy. My family loves the Island. My mom and dad love the porch at the Haan's
1830 Inn, I love downtown, as well as a few other special places, and so does my brother (for the ice
cream, of course!), and my sister loves pretty much everything! Downtown is one of my favorite
parts of the island. So many bustling tourists, so many busy shops, so many strong, hard–working
horses. I looked around as we coasted through downtown, even though I pretty much knew it by
heart. I saw some of my favorite shops and restaurants, like the Chuckwagon, The Pink Pony, the
Lilac tree Hotel & Spa ( Which has Mackinac Island´s bookstore, a toy store called Great Turtle

The Butterfly And The Violin Analysis
The Life of a Butterfly
A butterfly's life starts out as a caterpillar, then a chrysalis, and finally the adult butterfly. In the
novel The Butterfly and the Violin, Adele Von Bron start her life out as a caterpillar as Austria's
sweetheart who very dependent on her family. She then became like a chrysalis, when she began to
help the Jewish family by feeding them and trying to help them escape. Towards the end of the
novel is when she transformed into a butterfly, because she had suffered with the struggles of the
camp and met Omara which helped her to become a strong and independent woman. In The
Butterfly and the Violin, Kristy Cambron uses the butterfly as a symbol to show the relation between
Adele's life and the life of a butterfly. In the beginning of the novel Adele's life is most relatable to
the caterpillar stage of the butterfly's life. She relates to a caterpillar at the beginning of the novel,
because she is just a teenager just beginning to start her adult life. By only being a teenager and she
still lives with her parents, Adele is not very independent at the moment. At this point she is making
a lot of mistakes and she is still learning a lot about life . The novel starts out with Adele's life about
her playing in the orchestra and, being known as " Austria's Sweetheart " who is dependent upon her
parents . In the beginning of the novel Adele's mother does a lot of things for her that she could do

The first part in the life cycle of a butterfly is the egg. The small egg is placed on a leaf by the adult

heritage can affect our culture. In the article "What Is Cultural Heritage?" it states, "Today, we find
that heritage is not only manifested through tangible forms such as artefacts, buildings or landscapes
but also through intangible forms." We get more than antiques from our ancestors we get our food,

Like caterpillars, as kids we absorb everything our parents tell us. The values, beliefs, and morals

Childhood Development in the United States" by Damon Verial it states, "The United States is a
blending of many cultures that feature many stable and different subcultures. Where a child grows
up and who her parents are will influence the "cultural wisdom," or emphasis of certain values and
skills, that are passed to her." A lot of what my parents have taught me culturally is through food.
My father spent two years of his life in Switzer land and the South of France. My father has
introduced a lot of French culture into our home. On Christmas Eve, we eat shrimp scampy rather
than chicken or turkey, which is most common in the United States. On Sunday morning when we
were little, our dad would make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to like crepes, raklet, and
fondue. My mom grew up in Idaho. Every meal has some form of potato and a side of salad; almost
without fail. My parents raised us in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints. In our church,
we have a set of guidelines called the Word of Wisdom, which teaches us our bodies are sacred and
we should watch what we put in them. For example, we do not drink alcohol or addictive beverages.
My parents and their cultures have had momentous effects on my own culture. This however is not
restricted just by foods. In positions on contradicting beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the
ones of my parents. As I grow older I do not personally know to what extent my parents influence
my culture and if my views will change or shift toward or away from what they are

The Characteristics Of The Monarch Butterfly
The monarch population has decreased up to about 22 million from last year to this year. (Rice) The
monarch butterfly is an insect that is beneficial to the ecosystem ;however, their population has
decreased over the years. Poaching and farming have caused this declination ,but there are solutions
we can work with that may help the population increase once again. The monarch butterfly is known
by scientists as Danaus plexippus, which in Greek literally means "sleepy transformation." The
name evokes the species' ability to hibernate and metamorphize.(Schafer) Monarch butterflies are
indicator species just like they are pollinators as well ,and their characteristics all serve different
purposes to help them. For instance, their colorful wings consist of veins and muscles. These
features help blood circulate through their tiny bodies and allow them to be able to do move. Their
characteristics tell differences in their gender as well by their patterns. In fact, males have black dots
on their wings ,and females are a little smaller in size. Additionally, they live up to about two to six
weeks as they grow from a caterpillar to becoming an adult monarch butterfly. Their life cycle is
made up of four stages: egg, the larvae, the pupa, and the adult butterfly. It lasts about 28 to 38 days
to be able to complete the process. Their winter migration usually takes place in Mexico or Southern
California, where it is warm ,and they can hibernate in

Butterfly
A butterfly is a mainly day–flying insect of the order Lepidoptera, which includes the butterflies and
moths. Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly's life cycle consists of four parts: egg, larva,
pupa and adult. Most species are diurnal. Butterflies have large, often brightly coloured wings, and
conspicuous, fluttering flight. Butterflies comprise the true butterflies (superfamily Papilionoidea),
the skippers (superfamily Hesperioidea) and the moth–butterflies (superfamily Hedyloidea). All the
many other families within the Lepidoptera are referred to as moths. The earliest known butterfly
fossils date to the mid Eocene epoch, between 40–50 million years ago.

As Lepidoptera, butterflies have four wings that are covered with tiny scales (see photo). The fore
and hindwings are not hooked together, permitting a more graceful flight. An adult butterfly has six
legs, but in the nymphalids, the first pair is reduced. After it emerges from its pupal stage, a butterfly
cannot fly until the wings are unfolded. A newly emerged butterfly needs to spend some time
inflating its wings with blood and letting them dry, during which time it is extremely vulnerable to
predators. Some butterflies' wings may take up to three hours to dry while others take about one
hour. Most butterflies and moths will excrete excess dye after hatching. This fluid may be white,
red, orange, or in rare cases,

My Sport Is Swimming
A sport I like the most is currently swimming. I don't really know why I like it, but I enjoy the sport.
I always liked water and I really enjoyed spending my time playing in the bath when I was a kid. I

not a professional swimmer. In swimming you have four different styles, which you use to get
yourself further. The styles are: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Freestyle has been
invented first, and is the most popular and effective way of swimming. As other styles were invented

Galapagos Mockingbird Anthlingss: Case Study
The Galapagos Mockingbird nestlings typically start to reproduce a year after they were born. For
instance, if they were born in 1533 they will start to breed in the spring of 1534 (Long, 2015) The
accidental introduction of larvae to the Galapagos Islands have resulted in weakening and killing of
the nestlings (University of Washington, 2016). Females lay their eggs on nesting grounds where
they usually hatch 12–13 days after incubation. With this, larvae find their way into the nostril
cavities of nestlings, nibbling away for three days before migrating to the bottom of the nest where
they remain out of view throughout the day (Kolbert, 2013). At night, they surface to feed on the
nestlings' blood where as many as 184 larvae are found in a nest at one time (Kolbert, 2013). Since
the population density of the parasites is overwhelmingly immense the nestlings typically do not

The Benefits Of Swimming As A Sport In History
Swimming
Swimming is a sport and activity that has existed for centuries, ever since the Stone Age. During the
Stone Age men learned to swim to cross rivers and lakes. The activity itself was not practiced
frequently until the 19th century. Great Britain started competitive swimming in early 19th century.
They held many competitions and since then the activity started to become more well known and
started to evolve throughout history. It became known as a sport and it benefited many people.
When the sport first began there was very few races and there wasn't many strokes or ways of
swimming. As it developed in the 19th century there was only the "breaststroke" which was used by
the British, and the "front crawl" which was mostly used by the Americans, West Africans, and
Pacific Islanders. Swimming pools, not much later, were being built. When competitions began, it
was only for men. The Olympics for swimming began near the end of the 19th century, 1896. Many
events were hosted and there was a big number of participants. After the Olympics, the sport began
to evolve and it became really popular.
Swimming is just like any other sport that helps you stay in shape. It's a really good form of exercise
and has many benefits such as physical, social, and psychological benefits. It can help you stay fit,
healthy, and is a good way to better your social life. It helps you maintain a healthy weight, heart,

Monarch Butterflies and Habitat Loss To begin with, this there is an estimated 109 million monarchs

make more habitat for the butterflies, stop cutting milkweed plants, and planting them. The monarch
butterflies will spend in Mexico their winter hibernation, and also in of Southern California because
in some parts it is warm all year long. But if the monarch lives in the Eastern states, on the Rocky

because then the butterflies are going to the plants and they are going die because of the
pesticide. The butterflies see the plants and they are going to rest there or they are going to pollinate
them, but what the butterflies don't know is that the plants have pesticide and they lend on them and
latter on they die. And the last solution is that people start planting new milkweed trees.Because if
all the people start doing it the monarch butterflies population will increase because now they are
going to have enough food for all of them and they are going to finish their life cycle and they can
do all their migration for their lives. All the people should be traing to protect the monarch
butterflies because they are one of the little things that help people live. But they are not doing it

What We Learn From Kendrick Lemar 's At Pimp A Butterfly

What We Learn From Kendrick Lemar's To Pimp A Butterfly
Life is a jungle, a beautiful, colorful landscape, often painted with harsh conflict and oppression.
Navigating forward requires keeping healthy relationships with the community and those close to
you, maintaining focus on your true identity, and not losing sight of larger than life goals. These
ideals are the message that Kendrick Lamar wishes to bestow upon whomever experiences his latest
album, To Pimp A Butterfly.
Kendrick's story originates in Compton, a jungle at its core, where he learned that survival depends
on working with others and keeping intact with your roots. Because of the harsh living environment
and unavoidable presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to Tupac, Kendrick wanted to demonstrate characteristics of a great leader so he too could
be an example for his people.
Unfortunately, the excessive fame and separation from Compton came with harsh consequences:
Kendrick began to struggle with keeping in touch with his roots, and the ideals that hoisted him to
the throne. He expresses these emotions in the track Momma, where he states how he knows
everything about life, but goes on to realize that after reaching stardom, he may be out of touch with
his roots and all he knew. Throughout the rest of To Pimp A Butterfly, we find out he felt lost in "the
cocoon" a metaphor for the grasp media has on society, and desperately began to cling to his true
identity as a way to break free from the cocoon's bounds. Eventually, Kendrick emerges as a
butterfly, wanting to return home and teach all the "caterpillars" what he learned.
For Kendrick, African American oppression and Compton's black–on–black crime is at the forefront
of his frustration, and a prime inspiration for his need to teach the community about working
together. On the track simply called "I", a live recording, Kendrick is heard calling out to a crowd to
join together. Unfortunately, his message seems to initially fall on deaf ears. Instead of listening, the
crowd continues to fight over how to fix the problems in their community, rather than unite to fight
them together. As he continues to speak, the crowd becomes quieter, and Kendrick goes on to
condemn

By pausing at words that the students do not know and breaking them down the students will gain
experience that will allow them to work on this practice independently. We set this up as a gradual
release of responsibility, beginning the exercise with a teacher model of how to break down a word.
We will then break down a list of words into parts and have students repeat these breakdowns before
practicing it themselves. Before diving into the reading, we will go over sentences that have these
practice words and have the student, together, repeating the sentences after us. This ensures that
students gain practice reading the word in sentences, rather than as an individual word before
performing their whisper reads. We included whisper reading as the during–reading activity, to give
students a chance to read independently but without the pressure of having an audience. As they
read to themselves, students will pause at words they are struggling to pronounce and break them
apart, at this point we will continue guiding students through this process, in order ensure that
motivation is not lost when students feel challenged. To gauge the learnings of the students, we will
have each student chose one word that they struggle with and create a master list, the students will
practice pronouncing their individual words and receive clarifying definitions if necessary. The
students will then create their own sentence using this word, practice it through whisper readings,
and then share it aloud with the group. This process creates a learning experience where students are
able to practice not only their phonics skills but also work on comprehension. This process
incorporates repetition to enforce the importance and practice with this

Symbolism Of A Butterfly In The Holocaust
The butterfly has become a symbol for the 1.5 million children murdered in the holocaust. During
the holocaust many children were put into concentration camps, they knew they were going to die.
They carved hundreds of butterflies with their nails or stones on the walls of the prisons. I believe
these butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a
message of hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die.
Just like how a larva turns out into a butterfly an flies out of the cocoon, similar once they die, they
would completely come out of their suffering and hardships and once again live life in peace and
freedom. A butterfly is so awakening and charming which

The mealworm is a the larval form of the mealworm beetle. The four stages of insect life start when
the mealworm egg is laid in the soil anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months. After it
hatches it sheds its exoskeleton, causing them to be a light brown color. The mealworms favorite
meal are grains, like oatmeal and cornmeal. Once they have eaten enough, usually a week or two
later, they develop their hard outer shell. Mealworms are attracted to moist and dark places, like
household food items. Food items like oatmeal and grains are where they can be found. When the

Birds enjoy eating the lighter colored mealworms. Because they are cheap and easy to reproduce,
mealworms are a perfect way to feed animals or yourself. The mealworms stay in the egg phase of
life for one to two weeks. Then they stay in the larva stage for one to three months, which is perfect
for feedings. They stay in the pupa stage for ten to twenty days. After the pupa stage, they are adults
and are ready to produce. It is simply, fast, and cheap to raise mealworms. Mealworms are often
used in science, especially in labs or experiments. Some experiments they are involved in are light
versus dark, diet tests, and life cycles. Examining the mealworms life style shows the four stages of
life in a manageable amount of time. Overall, mealworms are valuable in every sense of the way.
They can be used in science, as protein, meal replace, and also as a pest. Another bug used in
science is the roly poly bug. Roly poly bugs are interesting bugs because of their body has its own

Step 1: Body Position First, ensure your body is flat and facing down, parallel to the waters surface.
During the stroke, keep the body as horizontal as possible to avoid water resistance. Hips should
remain in line with the shoulders, while the head should remain central. Avoid over exaggerated
movements, keeping strokes smooth and well–timed.
Step 2: Arm Action
The stroke requires three different steps. First, the catch – Put your arms out straight, shoulder width
apart and palms facing downwards, and then press down and out at the same time with both hands.
Next is the pull – pull your hands towards your body in a semicircular motion with palms facing
outwards, keeping your elbows higher than your hands, and pushing the water underneath ... Show

With both legs together and toes pointed, kick downwards at the same time, similar to the way in
which a dolphin swims. There should be two kicks throughout your stroke; the first kick is a small
one to realign your body position as you start the catch, and the second kick is large, performed
during the recovery phase when your arms are above the water. The big kick is timed to propel your
body forward as momentum is lost during recovery.
Step 4: Breathing
Breathing should be completed during the start of the recovery phase when the arms are just starting
to come out of the water. Raise your chin above the water, keeping your head straight and quickly
inhale; do so quickly in order to complete a smooth recovery. A breath should be taken every other
stroke to avoid a decrease in speed, if possible.
Step 5: Timing:
Timing and coordination are essential for a smooth easy swimming stroke. Both breathing and limb
motions must be synchronised accordingly in order to execute the butterfly effectively.Specifically,
the downbeat of the first leg kick occurs at the catch; both arms will have been in the air during
recovery, causing the hips to sink. The second kick should be strong enough to counter–balance this

Importance Of Tourism In England
Many people would say that England isn't a wonderful place to go travel just because there is so
much security that goes on there, then others will say it's a fabulous place to travel just because they
lived there and there are many things to do in England. On that note, who is really right about it?
There are many things that are geologic about England, but the main geologic features about
England are their sedimentary rocks. This feature is very popular in England just because there is so
many in different regions and you can witness them as quick as possible, many people find the rocks
as art to themselves and that's a hobby to them to figure out everything about the rocks and how
long it was there for. There are always other geological features in England like Cheddar Gorge,
Jurassic Coast, Whin Sill, London Basin, and even Lizard Complex, a lot of humans could take trips
to those places if they can and will take pictures if they want and post them on social media.
Humans will not make concerns for the future just because they really won't have a way to make a
big difference with it. The climate in England is very well balanced just because they have warm
summers and even cool winters, the climate is a mild temperature not much lower than 0 C in the
winter and not much higher than 32 C in the summer. The warmest month in England will definitely
be July and August, but the coolest month will have to be both January and February. There are

Support 1: Over Swimming– Excessive practice of swimming can cause damage to your joints such
as tendinitis in the knees. It can also darken your skin because it requires minimum coverage of the
body and since the body is always surrounded by water therefore you also don't feel the sunburn. It
can also cause infection of the ear and from viruses in case of using public pools. To avoid effect.
Buy ear plugs to eliminate risk of ear infection as it is easy while swimming long periods of time to
get infections. And for the case of sunburn you can use community pools to swim.
Support 2: Open Swimming– Open swimming like at sea, lake or river can increase the chances of
drowning because the water currents are not stable like in pools. They are more dynamic and can
pull you along with it. Aquatic animals like Jelly fishes, sharks, crabs, crocodiles, alligator, etc. are
other threats as they can harm you physically. You can also injure yourself while diving into shallow
water. But these effects can be stopped by swimming at a public pool and most have swim
equipment such as pull buoys, kick boards, and fins to help increase your performance.
Sub Point 2: Is running/biking is better for you than swimming–
Support 1: How many calories are burned?–approximately 150 calories are burned while running
and hour now that sounds like a lot of calories but in swimming you burn approximately 432
calories. That is more than double the calories of running for one hour to swimming for 1 hour

  • 3. Slingshot Dives Research Want to drop some time when swimming? Did you know that the most popular events in swim are 100 and 50 meters swims. Because these events go by so fast, you need to make sure that every part of your swim is wickedly fast. Slingshot dives are great for making you faster when swimming because it makes it easier for an ultimate underwater right after you dive and it gives you a lot of power for the rest of your swim. Slingshot dives make it easier to form an ultimate underwater. This is because it helps you get further underwater and can help you get into a streamline. If you do this kind of dive, I can guarantee that you will be ready when the beep sounds; and won't false start and dive too early. Diving too late can also ruin your swim because ... • 5. Causes Of The Monarch Butterfly So are we just going to ignore the fact that Monarch Butterflies are in trouble? We're just going to ignore the fact that we could easily help, but we choose not to?The monarch butterfly is an insect that relies their life on milkweed plants and is currently facing the problem of milkweed declining, but it can be solved by planting milkweeds causing the butterfly population to increase rapidly. The Monarch Butterfly is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It's the most common butterfly in North America , and is considered an "iconic pollinator species".(Conserving Monarch butterflies And their habitats). The Monarch Butterflies have many nicknames such as, "milkweed, common tiger, wanderer and black veined brown"(Danaus). The Monarch Butterfly's life cycle has four stages, it begins with the egg, the caterpillar, the pupa, and then it emerges into an Adult butterfly. The female adult monarch butterfly mates with a male butterfly, and later lays its eggs specifically on a milkweed plant. After the eggs hatch, they turn into larva. The larva then spins a silky mat which turns into a chrysalis. Finally, the larva merges into an adult monarch butterfly. The monarch butterflies differ in migration than the any other species that migrate as well. The reason why the monarchs are different than other species is that they later come back to their previous winter location while other species stay.Monarch Butterflies migrate over 300,000 miles, for they can not stand the harsh cold temperatures. Every fall, they come from northern United States of America and migrate to southern United States of America, and at times they migrate all the way down to Mexico. Since monarch butterflies have" a complicated life cycle"(Migration) monarchs that have emerged in the winter do not yet reproduce until they're in the summer or spring season. On the other hand, monarch butterflies that are emerged in the summer or springtime reproduce rapidly. In addition, it's important for the monarchs to know when they have to migrate to the south and back to the winter. Sadly, the monarch butterflies are drastically decreasing due to the fact that the plant they need to survive, the milkweed plant, is slowly but surely diminishing. On ... • 7. The Monarch Butterfly : The Life Of The Monarch Butterfly Introduction: My project is about the monarch butterfly. I will be explaining how the monarch butterflies migrate and how they use the earth's magnetic field to do so. The Danaus Plexippus or commonly known as the Monarch butterfly. It such a beautiful insect, yet no one really knows about their migration and how they use the Earth's magnetic field to do this. The Monarch Butterfly lives in more than one place. The monarchs spend their summer and spring in Canada and the migrate south to Mexico to escape the cold weather and snow. Most winters, this weather reaches an incredible icy temperature of nearly –15 degrees Celsius. No one knows for sure how these fascinating insects migrate these thousands of kilometres, but it is thought to be a combination of the Earth's magnetic field and Solar navigation. Monarch butterflies are born as caterpillars and caterpillars feed almost entirely on milkweed. When they have transformed into a butterfly they feed on nectar from flowers. The monarch butterfly always goes back to a milkweed plant to lay their eggs. The milkweed plant that caterpillars digest is a poisonous toxin. This is the reason that the butterfly tastes horrible to predators. Migratory path: There are two main reasons why the monarch butterflies migrate. Firstly, Monarchs cannot survive in such low temperatures of nearly –15 degrees, and secondly, they rely on a source of plant called milkweed, but milkweed does not grow in cold weather, and they ... Monarch Butterfly Monarch Butterfly's Reign By Mario Lopez ITT Technical Institute SC4730 Environmental Science Mr. Ramirez 1/15/2015 According to National Geographic monarch butterflies travel up to 3,000 miles each fall to their wintering site in central Mexico. In 2004, an estimated 550 million completed the winter migration, while in 2003 only 33 million arrived. Further, between 2012 and 2013, there was a 43.7 percent decrease in the area occupied by the butterflies in the winter sanctuaries, the decline has numerous reasons: climate change, deforestation, and habitat loss, agricultural use of pesticides and herbicides Monarch butterflies are known for the incredible mass migration that brings millions of them to California and Mexico each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Butterfly Life Cycle According to National Geographic the four generations of these butterflies are constituted by 4 separate butterflies that complete the 4 unique phases in just one year. After this, they restart the same cycle, commencing with the primary stage of the first generation. Stage 1 February and March: Locate a mate and search for an ideal place to lay their eggs Stage 2 March–April: They lay their eggs on the leaves of milkweed plants. The larvae eat, grow and metamorphose into chrysalis. Stage 3 May–June: The third generation butterflies live out a life–cycle like the first generation. They then perish about fifteen days after metamorphosing into spectacular adult butterflies. Stage 4 This generation repeats the processes the other generations of Monarch butterflies underwent, but with the one crucial difference of traveling to California through Mexico to enjoy the warmer climate there. They live for six to eight months until they again get ready to undertake the return. The Migration How these butterflies take a particular direction for migration is an unsolved mystery of our generation. They fly at speeds ranging between 12 to 25 miles an hour. • 12. Butterfly Essay Butterflies fill an important role in ecosystems. The order Lepidoptera, which includes moths as well as butterflies, when present in high numbers they indicate a healthy ecosystem with a wide range of invertebrates. They are a natural pest control and pollinator species, contributing to success of other invertebrates. As well as playing a role in food webs. There are 320 species present in Europe, at least 112 are endemic. There are four stages in the butterfly life cycle from egg (ovum), to caterpillar (larva), to chrysalis (pupa) and butterfly (imago), each stage undergoing a complete stage of metamorphosis (Higgins & Riley, 1970). Known as the most colourful order in the class Insecta, butterflies and moths vary in size with two large colourful scaled wings, the scales hold the colour pigment giving them the name Lepidoptera (Higgins & Riley, 1970). The head, body and legs are also usually scaled. They have sucking mouthparts, mandibles which are usually versidual and coupled maxillae which form a tubular sucking proboscis which is coiled (peculiar to Lepidoptera) (Higgins & Riley, 1970). Their exoskeleton is made of chitin, with muscles attached on the inside, the exoskeleton providing protection. They have two compound eyes and a thorax which is divided into three segments, each with a pair of legs and the second and third also with a pair of wings (Brusca & Brusca, 2003). The pool was fairly large and was rarely crowded, that was one comfort for me. Seven Islands had many activities other than swimming, I myself did not choose to do swimming my mum had decided that I would benefit from it. My first day at the club started in a shallow pool opposite a larger one. I already knew two people who came with me, that made me feel a little confident despite the crying of other children. We had two instructors a man and a women both were roughly in their thirties the man had brown hair and was quite tall, the women had blonde hair and was full figured and short. The ... She and the other women decided to see if we could swim without assistance, she started with me first she held both of my hands and told me to start kicking before I knew it she let go of my hands so I had to rely on moving them to support myself I then realized that I was actually swimming alone, after about three seconds I caught the ledge, the shock of it distracted me I could not believe it. When the instructress went on to other people I tried again this time using different styles of swimming I was confident with diving and front stroke. At the end of the session I was pleased with myself and so were my friends. Three years after practicing and learning more and more I kept attending I never missed a session until finally the club moved to Walworth road, they gave each member an application form saying that each member acknowledged that the club was moving and that you would still attend. • 16. Reflection On The Experience Of Swimming I thought that I was one of the best swimmers in Manchester before I joined the swim team. My mom always bragged to others that I swam like a fish when I passed two levels of swimming lessons in two weeks. I was overly confident of my talent, and that all changed on the first day of swim team practice. As soon as the first practice started, I thought it would be the easiest practice since it was the first one, but after three laps of swimming, I was struggling to catch my breath. My confidence dropped immediately, and after the practice ended, I became very unsure if I belonged on the team. After practice, I went home to discuss with my mom about how I could improve, because my mom isn't a skilled swimmer, I went to the next practice not knowing how I could improve my swimming ability and endurance. Two weeks into practices was my first swim meet. It had been your average summer day in June; sunny with clear skies, warm and humid. When I woke up that morning a got a text from my mom for the events I would be swimming in later that afternoon. I was signed up to swim the 50 meter butterfly in one relay, 50 meter freestyle in another relay, and the dreaded 100 meter freestyle swim. For the 100 meter swim I was put in the 15–18 year old division because our swim team wasn't very big, so I had to swim up a level. After scrolling through my events I carried on with my normal morning routine. Once 1:00 came I shoved all of my swim items into a duffle bag and headed out the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. The Physics Of Swimming Is Science Freestyle Stroke Essay Swimming is science. When a person swims, they are displacing water. In Ancient Greek times, a physicist named Archimedes discovered the principle of buoyancy. Archimedes Principle states that an object in gravity applies a force, or a buoyancy, to whatever it is surrounded in. When a person submerges him or herself in water, the water levels will rise. The density of a person or object determines if its floatation. If an object is more dense than the water, it will sink. On the contrary, an object lighter than water will float. There are various styles or strokes including breaststroke, freestyle, and more. Freestyle swimming consists of many components that combine to efficiently swim. Physics is a subtle yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The head is important. If the head is pressed down, the lower body will stay afloat. In our first few days, our class practiced 6' foot and 9' vessels. We had a small competition that checked to see which person could glide the furthest. The typical goals for the vessel competitions were 4 feet and 4.5 feet. This taught our class how to properly use our body in the freestyle stroke to eliminate drag. Another lesson we learned was to swim with high elbows. The pull of the water causes a lot of frontal drag and keeping closer to the water surface reduced the amount of drag. This was another way to reduce drag. Lower body movement is essential. Propulsion off of the wall could easily kick start swimming. The stronger the push, the better. From there, a swimmer could start kicking. The first kick we learned was the flutter kick, probably the most basic kick in swimming. With straight legs, move the legs up and down alternatively. It requires the movement of hips, legs, and feet. Next, we learned about dolphin kicks. This kick requires one to move their whole body like a wave. While streamlining, press the chest down then release. As the chest rises, thrust the hips down with the legs following. The legs must be tightly pressed together, knees should be slightly bent as the hips sink, and feet must be pointed. As the lower body rises and the upper body dips, straighten the knees to push through the water. Both kicks effectively propel a person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Reflection Of A Reflection On Teaching Reflection for Co– Teaching This semester was my first time working with 3rd graders at an IB school. This type of school is structured much differently than all the other elementary schools in Jefferson County. The curriculum at this school is a concept driven curriculum that helps students construct meaning through improved critical thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are inquiry based. Inquiry based instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts through exploration rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said, my cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students engaged in learning and doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a specific book to teach with, yet he had essential questions and standards that needed to be met in Science. The lesson was centered on the 3rd grade Colorado academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the concept of the duration and timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential question of how humans can have a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and insects was also a guiding factor in the lesson. My CT and one of his co–workers that taught 3rd grade came up with this lesson with the help of the Butterfly Pavilion, who provided specimens, exploration, and butterfly holder nets for the classroom. This lesson was a great activity that captivated an idea learned in my college class that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Velma Gratch And The Way Cool Butterfly Analysis This text analysis is based off the book Velma Gratch and the Way Cool Butterfly by Alan Madison. The Lexile level of this book is AD750L, the reasoning behind this rating is due to all the vocabulary placed throughout the book. In our study of Beck from last semester, we explored the idea of tiered vocabulary. This book is filled with tier three vocabulary including specific types of butterflies and the different parts of a butterfly. These are terms that cannot be brought into a variety of subjects and that are unlikely to be known previously by students. In addition, there are also high–level vocabulary words, that make the Lexile level go up as they are only used once throughout the book. In Readability and the Common Core's Staircase of Text Complexity by Elfrieda H. Hiebert, it mentions that as vocabulary words are used more frequently the Lexile level decreases as these words become more common. In this book, words such as "miraculous", "spectacular", "muddled", "coincidence", "conservation", "slathered", "gurgled", and "migration" are all used either once or just a few times. Which ... Such as the reason that Velma does some of the things she does, is so she is remembered as more than just the third Gratch sister. In addition to having students make inferences, this book allows students to activate their background knowledge and make predictions. Through the sibling rivalry and idea of science students need to use what they already know to make the inferences. With the text being predictable and the story having a fairly common story, students should be able to pause and make their own predict what may happen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rolling Stone and Billboard praised the album awarding it the best album of 2015. The album depicts the difficulties of fame by putting the trials and tribulations on display; the inability for those to adjust to their new lifestyle and the potential temptations that creep in. "To Pimp a Butterfly" has been both a divisive and uniting factor in its emergence in popular culture. Kendrick Lamar grew up in the city of Compton. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lamar states that "Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the same." Caterpillars can become butterflies through metamorphosis, or in the case of Kendrick Lamar, through finding their gifts and talents. A caterpillar only becomes a butterfly when it breaks out of its cocoon. The title "To Pimp a Butterfly" is in and of itself the central message Lamar is communicating with the listener. "To Pimp a Butterfly" refers to the downfall (whether that be intellectually or physically) of butterflies. That downfall occurs when butterflies become seduced by fame and fortune often by their own desires or, in some cases, by their exploitation. A "pimped" butterfly perpetuates the idea that the only lifestyle to live is one based on status and wealth. The opening track of the album is entitled "Wesley's Theory." Wesley, in this instance, is in reference to Wesley Snipes. Wesley Snipes is known for his income tax conviction which, when juxtaposed onto Lamar's extended metaphor, makes him a pimped butterfly. The track divides each of the two verses into separate perspectives. The first verse is from the caterpillars perspective in the mindset of consumption, "I 'ma buy a brand new Caddy on fours/Trunk the hood up, two times, deuce–four/Platinum on everythin ', platinum on weddin ' ring/Married to the game." The game being fame and fortune. The second perspective is capitalist America represented by Uncle Sam. Lamar states "I can see the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Descriptive Experience Essay A bright array of lights dotted the dark landscape beneath the plane where I sat It was late, around midnight, and the day had stretched beyond measure beginning with customs in the Atlanta airport. About 1:30 a.m. we landed in the airport at San Jose International Airport. I was exhausted but the beauty of the landscape would be only a shimmer of what was to come. The second I stepped off of the plane I felt anxious and hot, very hot. This being my first time outside of the United States was a completely new experience and everything was foreign to me. After we retrieved our bags from the baggage claim we headed out and were promptly picked up by a bus which carried us out of the city of San Jose, Costa Rica through mountains and jungle and delivered us to our cabins where we would be staying for the week. After a combined sixteen hours of travel we were here. As we stood on top of what seemed to me to be a mountain overlooking the city I was taken aback I have never seen anything like it. It was amazing. The next morning we woke up as early as 5:00 a.m. to get ready for what was to be a long day. Each morning we would travel to a church where we would hold a worship service and eat breakfast, after each breakfast and worship service we would go off to our respective places where we would work with a construction team building a basecamp for the ministry we were helping or we would go out and minister at the schools in the local area. They have beautiful colors, they go through metamorphosis to become the beautiful butterflies they are, and they travel across the country. This is why I believe monarch butterflies are amazing creatures. How they become a monarch Monarchs are amazing creatures because they go threw the process of metamorphosis. Metamorphosis is the transformation of an immature form (caterpillar) into an adult form or adult stage (butterfly). The Monarchs lay their eggs on milkweed which is the plant they eat. Monarch butterflies do not have a live birth they are born in eggs. "The antennae are also helpful for eating." This is because the antennae help guide the food into the butterflies jaws. During the larvae, pupa, or caterpillar stage the butterflies only live on Milkweed plants. The Milkweed plants glycogen toxins which don't have any effect on the Monarchs, but this plant is poisonous to the Monarchs predators. • 32. Giant Butterflies Symbolism Vladimir Kush on his beautiful oil canvas has depicted a three–masted sailing ship heading out to the open sea on a windy day. The ship is very different than your everyday sailing ship what strike out most is the giant butterflies that form the sails on the ship; it's as if these butterflies are catching the heavy wind that is blowing out into the sea. The conditions on the sea look fairly calm but the sea looks wavy and moving clouds show us the strong wind that is carrying the ship out. People on the shore are seen holding windsock as an indication to show the strength of the wind. People are also seen wind surfing across the seashore and there too butterfly wings have taken over the place of traditional sails. The beautiful painting is a visual treat to anyone laying eyes on it. The blue sky the wavy water the sailboats all are ironic to any coastal shore. The moon on the distance is an indication that it's early dusk or dawn. The sea looks windswept but calm and clear rather than stormy and angry. The ship is setting out on a long journey but the butterflies are an indication to a positive spin on departure so it's probably intended for people who have had or will have firsthand experience with departure and those emotions. Winged ship is portrayed to bring in a calming and cheering effect. And Kush has used his imagination to depict the painting; he has used pure imagination in creating winged ship. This torsion may lead to the anus being located below the genitals, or, in the case of 360° torsion, to the sperm duct being wrapped around the gut, despite the external organs being in their usual position. When flies mate, the male initially flies on top of the female, facing in the same direction, but then turns round to face in the opposite direction. This forces the male to lie on his back for his genitalia to remain engaged with those of the female, or the torsion of the male genitals allows the male to mate while remaining upright. This leads to flies having more reproduction abilities than most insects, and at a much quicker rate. • 36. Different Forms For Swimming : The Importance Of Swimming Swimming is a sport that can be swum individually or as a team. It's typically swum in filtered swimming pools, but sometimes competitions can take place in open bodies of water. The overall objective is to swim faster than your competition. The race can be swum in different forms; the butterfly stroke, backstroke, breaststroke, front crawl, freestyle, an individual medley, and a relay race. Swimming each stroke requires specific techniques, and in competition, there are specific regulations concerning the acceptable form for the different strokes. A front crawl calls for you to kick hard with your feet, while bringing your arms over your head and into the water one at a time. While the backstroke has many similarities to the front crawl, you float on your back, rather than propel your front through the water first. The butterfly stroke calls for you to bring both arms over your head at the same time and push them into the water to propel yourself. The butterfly stroke uses a dolphin–style kick, which means that your legs will stay straight and together as you kick them through the water. The breaststroke usually means a frog–style kick, where you will bend your knees and then kick your legs out beneath the water. Your arm stroke will begin with a sweep out from your chest and then a sweep in back to your chest. Finally, although not used in competition, the sidestroke holds importance for swimmers because you can use it to rescue someone, since it only requires one arm. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On Sunday morning when we were little, our dad would make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to like crepes, raklet, and fondue. My mom grew up in Idaho. Every meal has some form of potato and a side of salad; almost without fail. My parents raised us in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints. In our church, we have a set of guidelines called the Word of Wisdom, which teaches us our bodies are sacred and we should watch what we put in them. For example, we do not drink alcohol or addictive beverages. My parents and their cultures have had momentous effects on my own culture. This however is not restricted just by foods. In positions on contradicting beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the ones of my parents. As I grow older I do not personally know to what extent my parents influence my culture and if my views will change or shift toward or away from what they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. The Characteristics Of The Monarch Butterfly The monarch population has decreased up to about 22 million from last year to this year. (Rice) The monarch butterfly is an insect that is beneficial to the ecosystem ;however, their population has decreased over the years. Poaching and farming have caused this declination ,but there are solutions we can work with that may help the population increase once again. The monarch butterfly is known by scientists as Danaus plexippus, which in Greek literally means "sleepy transformation." The name evokes the species' ability to hibernate and metamorphize.(Schafer) Monarch butterflies are indicator species just like they are pollinators as well ,and their characteristics all serve different purposes to help them. For instance, their colorful wings consist of veins and muscles. These features help blood circulate through their tiny bodies and allow them to be able to do move. Their characteristics tell differences in their gender as well by their patterns. In fact, males have black dots on their wings ,and females are a little smaller in size. Additionally, they live up to about two to six weeks as they grow from a caterpillar to becoming an adult monarch butterfly. Their life cycle is made up of four stages: egg, the larvae, the pupa, and the adult butterfly. It lasts about 28 to 38 days to be able to complete the process. Their winter migration usually takes place in Mexico or Southern California, where it is warm ,and they can hibernate in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Butterfly A butterfly is a mainly day–flying insect of the order Lepidoptera, which includes the butterflies and moths. Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly's life cycle consists of four parts: egg, larva, pupa and adult. Most species are diurnal. Butterflies have large, often brightly coloured wings, and conspicuous, fluttering flight. Butterflies comprise the true butterflies (superfamily Papilionoidea), the skippers (superfamily Hesperioidea) and the moth–butterflies (superfamily Hedyloidea). All the many other families within the Lepidoptera are referred to as moths. The earliest known butterfly fossils date to the mid Eocene epoch, between 40–50 million years ago. Butterflies exhibit polymorphism, mimicry and aposematism. Some, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Lepidoptera, butterflies have four wings that are covered with tiny scales (see photo). The fore and hindwings are not hooked together, permitting a more graceful flight. An adult butterfly has six legs, but in the nymphalids, the first pair is reduced. After it emerges from its pupal stage, a butterfly cannot fly until the wings are unfolded. A newly emerged butterfly needs to spend some time inflating its wings with blood and letting them dry, during which time it is extremely vulnerable to predators. Some butterflies' wings may take up to three hours to dry while others take about one hour. Most butterflies and moths will excrete excess dye after hatching. I always liked water and I really enjoyed spending my time playing in the bath when I was a kid. I always liked to spend my time in the water, when the weather was capable. But I started with more «professional» practices when I was ten years old, and that is a little late compared to usual age you start your sport activities. Swimming is often an invidual sport, but it can also be team sport as well. The sport itself is about to get yourself through the water as fast as you can. The time, of course, is not so important if you are not a professional swimmer. In swimming you have four different styles, which you use to get yourself further. The styles are: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Freestyle has been invented first, and is the most popular and effective way of swimming. As other styles were invented over the time, butterfly was the last style to be officially accepted as the one of them. Butterfly itself, is a fixed version of breaststroke, which is calmer than the new version of the style. Butterfly is officially the second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, if they were born in 1533 they will start to breed in the spring of 1534 (Long, 2015) The accidental introduction of larvae to the Galapagos Islands have resulted in weakening and killing of the nestlings (University of Washington, 2016). Females lay their eggs on nesting grounds where they usually hatch 12–13 days after incubation. With this, larvae find their way into the nostril cavities of nestlings, nibbling away for three days before migrating to the bottom of the nest where they remain out of view throughout the day (Kolbert, 2013). At night, they surface to feed on the nestlings' blood where as many as 184 larvae are found in a nest at one time (Kolbert, 2013). Since the population density of the parasites is overwhelmingly immense the nestlings typically do not survive and if they do they end up deformed and struggle to eat (Kolbert, 2013). ... Monarch Butterflies And Habitat Loss Essay Monarch Butterflies and Habitat Loss To begin with, this there is an estimated 109 million monarchs this year in 2.91 hectares, and last year it was from 150 million in 4.01 hectare. The butterflies are daing, and their population is decreasing, and there is a lot of solutions. For example, people can make more habitat for the butterflies, stop cutting milkweed plants, and planting them. The monarch butterflies will spend in Mexico their winter hibernation, and also in of Southern California because in some parts it is warm all year long. But if the monarch lives in the Eastern states, on the Rocky Mountains, then it will hibernate close to the Pacific Grove, California in eucalyptus trees. The eggs are laid on milkweed plants in March. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second solution is that people do not put any more pesticide in their plants and their farms because then the butterflies are going to the plants and they are going die because of the pesticide. The butterflies see the plants and they are going to rest there or they are going to pollinate them, but what the butterflies don't know is that the plants have pesticide and they lend on them and latter on they die. And the last solution is that people start planting new milkweed trees.Because if all the people start doing it the monarch butterflies population will increase because now they are going to have enough food for all of them and they are going to finish their life cycle and they can do all their migration for their lives. All the people should be traing to protect the monarch butterflies because they are one of the little things that help people live. What We Learn From Kendrick Lemar 's At Pimp A Butterfly James Powell Ben Pack WRIT–340 31 March 2015 What We Learn From Kendrick Lemar's To Pimp A Butterfly Life is a jungle, a beautiful, colorful landscape, often painted with harsh conflict and oppression. Navigating forward requires keeping healthy relationships with the community and those close to you, maintaining focus on your true identity, and not losing sight of larger than life goals. These ideals are the message that Kendrick Lamar wishes to bestow upon whomever experiences his latest album, To Pimp A Butterfly. Kendrick's story originates in Compton, a jungle at its core, where he learned that survival depends on working with others and keeping intact with your roots. Because of the harsh living environment and unavoidable presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Tupac, Kendrick wanted to demonstrate characteristics of a great leader so he too could be an example for his people. Unfortunately, the excessive fame and separation from Compton came with harsh consequences: Kendrick began to struggle with keeping in touch with his roots, and the ideals that hoisted him to the throne. He expresses these emotions in the track Momma, where he states how he knows everything about life, but goes on to realize that after reaching stardom, he may be out of touch with his roots and all he knew. Throughout the rest of To Pimp A Butterfly, we find out he felt lost in "the cocoon" a metaphor for the grasp media has on society, and desperately began to cling to his true identity as a way to break free from the cocoon's bounds. Eventually, Kendrick emerges as a butterfly, wanting to return home and teach all the "caterpillars" what he learned. For Kendrick, African American oppression and Compton's black–on–black crime is at the forefront of his frustration, and a prime inspiration for his need to teach the community about working together. On the track simply called "I", a live recording, Kendrick is heard calling out to a crowd to join together. Unfortunately, his message seems to initially fall on deaf ears. Instead of listening, the crowd continues to fight over how to fix the problems in their community, rather than unite to fight them together. As he continues to speak, the crowd becomes quieter, and Kendrick goes on to condemn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition to the table of contents, the beginning of the book also includes the focus question: what is the life cycle of a monarch butterfly? By pausing at words that the students do not know and breaking them down the students will gain experience that will allow them to work on this practice independently. We set this up as a gradual release of responsibility, beginning the exercise with a teacher model of how to break down a word. We will then break down a list of words into parts and have students repeat these breakdowns before practicing it themselves. Before diving into the reading, we will go over sentences that have these practice words and have the student, together, repeating the sentences after us. This ensures that students gain practice reading the word in sentences, rather than as an individual word before performing their whisper reads. We included whisper reading as the during–reading activity, to give students a chance to read independently but without the pressure of having an audience. As they read to themselves, students will pause at words they are struggling to pronounce and break them apart, at this point we will continue guiding students through this process, in order ensure that motivation is not lost when students feel challenged. To gauge the learnings of the students, we will have each student chose one word that they struggle with and create a master list, the students will practice pronouncing their individual words and receive clarifying definitions if necessary. The students will then create their own sentence using this word, practice it through whisper readings, and then share it aloud with the group. This process creates a learning experience where students are able to practice not only their phonics skills but also work on comprehension. I believe these butterflies represented their souls. They had a meaning. The butterflies were supposedly a message of hope, that despite the fact that they would be dead before long, their souls would not die. After it hatches it sheds its exoskeleton, causing them to be a light brown color. The mealworms favorite meal are grains, like oatmeal and cornmeal. Once they have eaten enough, usually a week or two later, they develop their hard outer shell. Mealworms are attracted to moist and dark places, like household food items. Because they are cheap and easy to reproduce, mealworms are a perfect way to feed animals or yourself. The mealworms stay in the egg phase of life for one to two weeks. Then they stay in the larva stage for one to three months, which is perfect for feedings. They stay in the pupa stage for ten to twenty days. After the pupa stage, they are adults and are ready to produce. It is simply, fast, and cheap to raise mealworms. Mealworms are often used in science, especially in labs or experiments. Some experiments they are involved in are light versus dark, diet tests, and life cycles. Examining the mealworms life style shows the four stages of life in a manageable amount of time. During the stroke, keep the body as horizontal as possible to avoid water resistance. Hips should remain in line with the shoulders, while the head should remain central. Avoid over exaggerated movements, keeping strokes smooth and well–timed. Step 2: Arm Action The stroke requires three different steps. First, the catch – Put your arms out straight, shoulder width apart and palms facing downwards, and then press down and out at the same time with both hands. Next is the pull – pull your hands towards your body in a semicircular motion with palms facing outwards, keeping your elbows higher than your hands, and pushing the water underneath ... There should be two kicks throughout your stroke; the first kick is a small one to realign your body position as you start the catch, and the second kick is large, performed during the recovery phase when your arms are above the water. The big kick is timed to propel your body forward as momentum is lost during recovery. Step 4: Breathing Breathing should be completed during the start of the recovery phase when the arms are just starting to come out of the water. Raise your chin above the water, keeping your head straight and quickly inhale; do so quickly in order to complete a smooth recovery. A breath should be taken every other stroke to avoid a decrease in speed, if possible. Step 5: Timing: Timing and coordination are essential for a smooth easy swimming stroke. Both breathing and limb motions must be synchronised accordingly in order to execute the butterfly effectively.Specifically, the downbeat of the first leg kick occurs at the catch; both arms will have been in the air during recovery, causing the hips to sink. Transition: Now let's talk about the some of the counterpoints to swimming Main point: Counterpoints to swimming Sub Point 1: Dangers of swimming Support 1: Over Swimming– Excessive practice of swimming can cause damage to your joints such as tendinitis in the knees. It can also darken your skin because it requires minimum coverage of the body and since the body is always surrounded by water therefore you also don't feel the sunburn. It can also cause infection of the ear and from viruses in case of using public pools. To avoid effect. Buy ear plugs to eliminate risk of ear infection as it is easy while swimming long periods of time to get infections. And for the case of sunburn you can use community pools to swim. Support 2: Open Swimming– Open swimming like at sea, lake or river can increase the chances of drowning because the water currents are not stable like in pools. They are more dynamic and can pull you along with it. Aquatic animals like Jelly fishes, sharks, crabs, crocodiles, alligator, etc. are other threats as they can harm you physically. You can also injure yourself while diving into shallow water. But these effects can be stopped by swimming at a public pool and most have swim equipment such as pull buoys, kick boards, and fins to help increase your performance.
