2. Who was in your Group? How well did
you work together?
In my group there was me, Holly, Anneka and Charlotte. As a group we worked
extremely well together. We divided the tasks between us and used our
strengths to our advantage , for example Anneka had good experience on Adobe
Premier Pro therefore she felt confident in her editing abilities to edit the
majority of the music video, whilst me Charlotte and Holly worked on the other
media products such as the Digipak, Website and Merchandise. As a group we
would all contribute our ideas and give input for improvement and help one
another. Overall working in the group was successful we all contributed greatly
and would regularly discuss our progress and what we wanted to achieve as a
group and how we would go about this. This helped to keep us all on track and
update us with what we were all individually working on so we could meet the
deadlines set and keep organised.
3. How did your video get planned, did you
do a research?
Once we had established the song we wanted to use for the music video, we decided we
would be making a music video that fitted into the genre of pop but wanted to contain
elements of retro as the actual song fits into the genre of wonky funk. We started
planning our music video by all contributing ideas and writing them down, we all decided
on the idea of having one female in the video, with the intention of creating a ‘star image’
for her. After coming up with a few ideas we watched similar artist music videos such as
Dua Lipa ‘New Rules’ we took inspiration from the different locations and camera angles
which focused the attention purely on the artist. After this we decided on locations and
then created a detailed storyboard planning out our vision for the music video. We also
created a shooting schedule so we could arrange filming for when we were all free.
When carrying out research for our Music Video we made sure we kept our target
audience into consideration by making sure our vision would attract our audience, for
example we used bright colours and exaggerated this with our props such as neon
balloons and glow sticks.
4. What technology platforms did you use
throughout your process?
Throughout the whole process we used a variety of technology platforms. One of the main
programmes used was Adobe Premier Pro software, this was used to edit our music video as it
allowed us to import all our video footage and clearly lay it out. We also used Premier for its wide
range of effects which enabled us to create a music video which looked professional , we used
effects such as warp stabilizer , colour correction and reverse. As well as Premier we also used
Photoshop for our PAPER magazine cover and images for our Digipak this enabled us to create clean
cut images and precision in our editing, again helping to make our media products looks
professional.
To create the website for Nova we used wix as it was easy and accessible to use and gave us a
template which we could modify and create synergy across our media products.
For presenting our work we used a range of platforms such as Emaze, Prezi, Powerpoint, Word,
Slideshare and screencast. We presented all our work on Blogger.
Another platform which was commonly used was YouTube all our videos and screencasts were
uploaded onto Youtube before being published onto presentations and blogger.
5. What did you have to consider whilst
filming the music video?
When filming for our music video we had to consider the risk assessments, we filled out a
document stating what the possible risks are and how we can over come them, for
example having lights near water. Another factor that we had to consider was the weather
as some of our footage was filmed outside and we didn't’t want it to rain, this meant we
were constantly looking at the weather forecast to overcome this problem. The lighting
was also a problem during filming as it quite a lot was filmed with the lights off and just
using artificial lighting from fairly lights and glow sticks this at times effected the quality
making it look grainy and unclear, as a result we had to use effects on Premier and cut
certain parts out.
Whilst filming we also had to consider what angles we wanted and what locations were
going to be used as a result we used our storyboard to help.
